Great staff, really friendly. Amazing food, cocktails and wine. Our friends chose the venue, and we were a bit unsure as we've never been before, but we had an amazing time! Would definitely go back. For me, the Prawn Cocktail and Chocolate Mousse were some of the nicest I've ever had (honeycomb with the Chocolate mousse was inspired!).
First time visiting the restaurant and won’t be our last. Me and my wife celebrated our wedding anniversary here on Saturday and it was a wonderful experience from arriving to leaving. The staff were really friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. The portions were just the right size and everything was cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend giving this place a try.
We had the Scotch Eggs and Prawn Cocktal for starters: bith amazing presentation amd exqusite taste. For main course we had the Smashed burger (meat cooked to perfection and home made sauce divine) and Crab Linguine (perfectly cooked but a bit bland in taste, in my opinion). The highlight was the service: from greeting and seating (lovely brazilian guy, sorry I do not remember his mane) to our waiter we were made to feel at home, taken care of and very important. Lovely experience, would definitely come again!
Had an amazing experience at Jamie Oliver’s! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious, full of flavor, and served at the perfect temperature. A wonderful Sunday lunch experience from start to finish – can’t wait to come back!
Wow! I completely loved our visit to this restaurant today! What a lovely treat, the place looked fabulous and the staff where incredible especially our waiter Mohamed who went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and he was so friendly and welcoming, the vibe in here on this Christmassy afternoon was popping off and beaming with cheer! Thankyou to you all for a wonderful meal, I had the burger and chips and was actually the best I'd ever eaten of both! My daughters had the crab and truffle pasta which they both said was amazing 🤩
What an amazing experience. We were visiting London from Australia and decided to visit Jamie’s restaurant. The staff from the moment we walked in the front door were so welcoming. They were chatty, smiling and even having a laugh. This just made the atmosphere even more appealing. There was nothing pretentious about the staff or the place. The service was prompt and servers were knowledgeable on what they were serving. The food was absolutely divine. I have never tasted scallops as beautiful as what I ate that night. What topped the night was Jamie being in the restaurant. Despite having a business meeting he took time out to greet patrons. He was as down to earth as we imagined. Special tribute to Lucio as well. He was absolutely amazing, flattering (to my wife) and just a ball of energy and fun. If we make it back to London we’ll definitely be back to Jamie’s place.
Superb experience starting from the door being opened for us and being greeted by the happy maitre d Lucio to the bill being presented. Once seated we were well looked after by the very affable Aiden who couldn't have been more helpful and answered our questions & queries. A star. We had Sunday Roasts, superb flavours on the meats, gravy so tasty. Nice talk with Marcel the bar manager re the wines, the one we wanted sadly wasn't available, next time, touch wood, but the wine we did order went down very well. A lovely set out restaurant, nice and airy, well spaced tables, very comfortable. To finish the experience on the way out we had a great chat with the stylish Luize the assistant manager. Super people, fantastic food and a lovely setting. What's not to like. Already looking forward to our next visit. Our new favourite restaurant.
We had an amazing night here! Last night of our honeymoon celebrated at the best restaurant of our trip. All staff were very kind, friendly and welcoming. Food was superb and you’re left wanting more after every bite! We ordered a pork roast (comes with a side of roast veg as well as Yorkshire pudding) and Trevor’s chicken with a side of potato dauphinoise for mains. Chocolate mousse and sticky date pudding for dessert. All wonderful! Definitely recommend if you’re wanting an inviting environment and a beautiful meal!
I have Celiac Disease and spent a week in London with my best friend. We stopped by Jamie Oliver's restaurant after seeing a show to check if they offered a gluten free menu with the intention of having lunch the following afternoon if options were available. A very friendly gentlemen greeted us at the front and advised that gluten free options were indeed available and took additional time to walk me through some of the selections so that I would know if I found them overly restrictive as it would be a shame to come hungry and not find anything appealing (you'd be surprised the amount of places that say they can accommodate and then only offer a lettuce wedge). We returned the next day and we're greeted again by the same very pleasant gentleman who recognized us and again took the time to carefully review the gluten free options. I heard him informing the other servers at the podium of my allergy after drink orders were taken and I felt completely safe in his care. I am a somewhat small person and generally don't eat much in one sitting so when the tomahawk pork chop came out there was a moment of shock at the size being as large as my head and more good natured encouragement from the staff that they believed me up to the task of completing the meal. IT. WAS. DELICIOUS. Shockingly, I finished it. I'm not sure I've had room to eat anything since but it was totally worth it. A purely delightful experience and we were truly saddened when Google revealed no restaurants stateside for a repeat experience. As someone who spent half of my life literally poisoned by my food before they figured out what was wrong with me I can tell you it was really a magnificent experience start to finish. Your staff, front end and back, are to be commended.
What an amazing experience for me and my family. The whole staff went above and beyond to make us happy and helped me give my mom one of the best birthday celebrations in her life (her words). My special and from the heart thanks to Maritana... she was just splendid. I hope she sees the review because I would like to wish her all the best things in life for her friendliness and grace. You did more than putting a smile on my mom's face - you helped us create a very happy and loving memory. Thanks 🥰
Jamie Oliver is one of my moms favorite chef shows so we knew we had to make sure to go to his restaurant when we were in London for her birthday…and we are so glad we did. This restaurant exceeded our expectations. The decor was lovely and we really enjoyed finding Jamie in some of the photos. But the main 2 things that blew us away was the food and the staff. Everything we ate was delicious but we did obsessed over the Chicken and Rabbit pie, fish n chips and the Chateaubriand. I am dreaming about the curry sauce that came with the fish n chips still! My mom was so happy that she decided to come again a day later. She had Rushabh both times and she couldn’t stop praising him for how amazing he did. From making us feel welcome to making our little one feel so special. We cannot wait to go back to London to visit here again. And Jamie, if you are somehow reading this, thank you for fulfilling my moms wish to visit one of your restaurants and have it be as amazing as she dreamed.
Absolutely love this restaurant, the staff are fantastic - friendly, welcoming and attentive. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable with lovely decor and a cozy feel. The food is absolutely delicious, you’re always guaranteed a quality meal here and is very reasonably priced - Never disappoints !
Absolutely lovely from the first welcome, to the goodbye, we cannot fault the service and amazing staff and food. I loved the decor and ambiance and the wonderful menu choices. We had a a couple of appetizers too which were lovely chicken liver skewers and potato croquets. We then both had the rump steak roast dinner and it was an absolute 10 out 10! The beef was out of this world and the accompanying veg and gravy and great Yorkshire puds. The prices were very reasonable especially for the roast dinner...We were in a bit of hurry to see a show next door the staff went above and beyond to serve us so we could get to the show on time as we'd had delays traveling to London, but as it turns out we didn't get to see the show anyway which is beyond annoying and we could've have chilled out longer in Jamie's place if we'd have known any better but any thats life and we will definitely go back to Jamies special place again 😀 🙏❤️
I was at a restaurant over Valentine's Day weekend. We started with a glass of champagne on the house and chose the pre-theatre menu and I have to say it- the food was absolutely delicious! Especially the super green pasta I had, it felt like a dish created for me as I’m obsessed with greens and a big fun of Cavolo Nero 🤩 It felt like a heaven in my mounts and made my buds sang! ☺️I had an amazing eveving and looking forward to visit next time hopefully soon .. You are the best Jamie ! Monika
For a while now, I’ve been building gastronomic maps of cities around the world as an amateur passion project. I actually planned this Jamie Oliver visit 6–7 months ago, and it was one of the main reasons I wanted to come to London. I tried the Christmas set menu. To start, I had the House Gravlax, which was a lovely combination of salmon, herb salad, and a punchy horseradish cream—fresh, well-balanced, and very enjoyable. For the main course, I chose the Steak Diane. The meat itself was good—maybe not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely fair—while the classic Diane sauce was absolutely outstanding and really elevated the dish. For dessert, I went with the Chocolate Mousse, which was quite different from a traditional mousse and pleasantly surprising. Overall, the food was solid, and I would totally recommend this place. What really stood out to me, though, was the service. Everything arrived quickly, the staff were genuinely attentive, and they were always aware of what was happening at the table. Even something as small as dropping a fork someone appeared immediately to replace it. That level of care and attention made the experience truly memorable. Big thanks to everyone working there for such an excellent service.
Zara made our day! We arrived when the inside of the restaurant was fully booked and she managed to give us a nice table in the garden. She made excellent recommendations and that’s why our experience was the best! She was definitely a highlight there with her politeness and charm! Thanks! The restaurant is beautiful and the food as tasty! I definitely recommend it!
Perfect spot for intimate dinner or just a quick bite, a lot options available and I wanted to try everything. This time we only had desserts and it didn’t disappoint as usual. Loved the interior of the restaurant, it makes feel like home, excellent service from the staff as well.
Enthusiastic & Personal I had an amazing experience at Jamie Oliver Catherine restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — the steak cooked perfectly, the prawns cocktail were fresh and full of flavor, and the scotch egg was a stand out. The cocktails complemented everything beautifully. The staff from Rafheal Maritana and rushab were attentive and friendly, making the whole night unforgettable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality food and a great atmosphere.
Very nice restaurant, had to try it while we’re in London from Canada. Our whole family loves Jamie’s TV specials (we watch ALL the Jamie Christmas cooking specials). We had pastas, burgers, and a delicious rabbit/chicken pie. All lovely meals. Peach pie, Black Forrest cake, cookies, and ice-cream for dessert… all fantastic. Very enjoyable night out with our family!
My sister and I have come from Paris for the day for lunch, because well why not. I did the exact same thing last year. The food here is spectacular as are the staff. Jamie you should be so proud. Hoping to see Jamie one day, that would be the icing on the cake. Love from 2 Australians who adore Jamie!
Excellent service, excellent food! Special mention to the front of house staff who found us a seat whilst we waited, even though it was busy, and to Aidan the Texan who made our daughter’s birthday extremely special! Will definitely be coming again.
We had a fantastic night at Jamie Oliver Catherine St. The food was amazing and the customer service from Eduardo was so good! Our evening though was topped off by meeting Jamie Oliver himself, such a fantastic, unexpected surprise. The time he gave us was so appreciated…thank you Jamie!
Scallops and Duck were amazing! Wonderfully cooked! The fish and chips were good but the fish could have been more crispy. Lastly, the sticky pudding was WOW!
We had a great experience. The staff was extremely friendly (shout-out to Tushar who made sure we had a candle in our dessert because we were celebrating) and the food was great. Had the Sunday roast and a sticky toffe pudding. Great British dining experience all around. Even the non-alcoholic drinks were new and tasty. Would definitely recommend.
The food was delicious and I would definitely recommend the prawn cocktail and the chicken and rabbit pie, which comes with a stunning gravy. Nice selection of wines, quite varied, and ample choice by the glass. If you’re a fan of Jamie Oliver and have plenty of his cookbooks, you might spot some dishes you might have made yourself, which is fun.
Lovely lunch, kindest staff, enjoy full meal. We had truffle pasta and was a great choice I would repeat again. Totally recommended.
The host was warm and welcoming so that was definitely a great start. Our server, Luiz, was wonderful; attentive, but not overbearing; prompt, but we did not feel rushed. The food was also delicious. During my trip to London, I enjoyed fish and chips at several different restaurants, but Jamie Oliver's was hands down the best. Definitely recommend!!
A real surprise to me in the best possible way. Meeting up with a group of friends for Sunday lunch and I didn't know Jamie still operated restaurants. This one is a definite go to. There are three sections. Outside kind of adjacent to the pavement but with a barrier so you are slightly removed, then two inside spaces. We were in the main one and I'm not sure how to describe the other one directly Infront when you arrive but it looked like it had a more casual vibe. We had a cocktail at the bar to begin with while we waited for others and the barman was excellent. Being a super hot day I asked for a long cocktail that was refreshing and some other points. He made a twist on their short signature cocktail which was so good someone else ordered one (hint, add it to the menu!). I won't ramble. The food was ALL good with no complaints. The service was friendly and efficient. Never rushed. I was really impressed. I think the only negative is that the pricing is a bit high but it seems that with rent, energy, food prices all under pressure that's just how it has to be. I will be back.
A gem in Covent Garden! Happened to pass by and had a great time with family. So comfortable that we ended up staying for 3 hours. Staff is so lovely.
Beautiful Sunday roast with the family. Kids loved the variety of the kids menu and especially the homemade cookies and chocolate milk for dessert. The beef rump roast was stunning with plenty of roasties, veg and boat-full of intense gravy. Also had a seafood cocktail and Trevor’s Chicken, both also excellent. Service was attentive really helpful.
Classy restaurant, spacious, modern and with fairly attentive staff – except that I had to ask 3 times to get silverware … But the food was delicious: I chose the HOUSE G RAVLAX, TREVOR’S CHICKEN (chicken breast stuffed with porcini, wrapped in puff pastry, with mustard and wine cream), and for dessert RUMMY RAISIN APPLE PIE. Was a nice evening, mostly related to the company.
Alright hear me now in celebration of national burger day, I am going to introduce you to a burger that surprised me and i guarantee it’s not somewhere you are thinking of. This is the smashed Botham burger at Jamie Oliver’s Catherine street restaurant. I know most of my generation have not forgiven Jamie Oliver for what he did to our school diners and the whole sugar tax situation but I don’t hate the man so o wanted to give his food a try for once. And what a better way to see if it’s any good than to try his smashed burger, especially since the smashed burger Phenomenon has plagued the burger scene for about 5 years now. This burger was what you would hope a classic and simplistic smashed burger would taste like. It’s not too spenny for a restaurant burger it comes with chips that are brilliantly fried. Has a great “secret sauce”, beautiful pickles and lovely homemade cheese, trust Jamie Oliver to make his own cheese. This was £19.50 so not too shabby. I also got a dessert because I love a sweet treat, I got his jammy pudding which wasn’t as great as I thought it would be the custard was nice and the jam had a nice sweetness to it but I can’t say I was a fan of the steamed sponge the texture of that ruined it for me. I probably should’ve gone for the chocolate mousse but I just wasn’t sure about the added olive oil and I know how Jamie Oliver loves to pour on the olive oil on his food eventhough I know he wasn’t back there cooking it.
I went in for dinner with friends, armed with almost no expectations, but I am very familiar with the name above the door - and am a big fan. The menu reads like a promise to do simple things well: unfussy dishes, classic combinations, nothing overthought, and that was what arrived. I had the Loch Fyne scallops to start and the chicken for my main, while my friends went for the roast. Everything was okay. It feels like it is too focused on not being fancy, but has ended up going a little too far the other way. The food is good, but might be too austere to be comfort food. I found myself wishing for something more. Jamie taught me about the beauty in simple, fresh flavours and rustic presentations, but the dishes at this name-sake drift toward the unmemorable. It was still an enjoyable evening: friendly service and a relaxed room.
Overall we liked our dinner experience at Jamie Olivers Restaurant. The service, especially for drinks, could have been faster. The girl walked several times around us without noticing our empty glasses. The food was extremely fast at our table and tasted very delicious. The Scottish egg - wow! The tartar was alright, a little bit more of seasoning would have been great but still good. The duck was amazing so was the pie. Just that the pie was way too much. Half of it would have been more than enough for one person. The apple pie and the raspberry ice were to die for. Over all a good and solit restaurant with great taste. But extremely expensive. Maybe we are just feeling so bc in Germany you can get amazingly food like that for just the half of the price. We would probably not recommend or come back. Still it was a great once in a lifetime experience.
Went here before a theatre trip and made use of their lunch/theatre fixed menu. Was priced very reasonably for London but was a little disappointed that there's a forced 12.5% tip on the bill. Typical brit mentality means I'm never going to ask for it to be removed but in this instance wouldn't have tipped this much. Had to send my steak back as it was served on a cold plate and the sauce (Diane) was cold. Was such a shame as the steak itself when it was returned was absolutely outstanding. cooked to perfection! My wife really enjoyed her Main (Green Pasta) and her dessert (cheesecake). I was again confused by my dessert. I ordered the jammie pudding with custard and whilst it tasted nice, both the dessert and the custard were cold?! Is this a London thing? I don't get this? Why would you have cold custard? In spite of the cold food, I'd still return as I think it was down to cold plating as when they brought my steak back it was on a piping hot plate and everything tasted fantastic. The drinks were delicious too
We had a relaxing delightful dinner. Everything tasted good. The Trevor’s chicken was tasty as expected. The service was attentive, friendly and helpful. Very nice. We enjoyed our deserts as well. We will back. Nice atmosphere, good food selection and very tasty and really top notch h server. Thanks Natalia - and happy b-day.
We visited last night around 8–9 p.m to celebrate our anniversary. The food was great and once we were seated, the service was excellent. The waiters were very friendly, communicative and made us feel very welcome throughout the evening. However, our first impression was disappointing. When we arrived, we waited at the entrance and were seen by the host (female staff member wearing a white top), but there was no greeting, smile, or acknowledgement at all. We understand the restaurant was busy, but a simple hello or “we’ll be with you shortly” would have made a difference, especially on a special occasion. Aside from that initial moment, everything else was lovely
You quickly realize here that a big name alone doesn’t guarantee a great dining experience. The food was good and the service was fine, but nothing really stood out. Prices are clearly overpriced, and while the restaurant is busy, the atmosphere is loud and not very cozy – more like a regular London pub. It’s worth trying once for the experience, but if we’re looking for classic British food again, we’d rather go to a pub and probably pay a third of the price.
As a seasoned food reviewer, I've had the pleasure of dining at many of London's esteemed establishments. It was with great anticipation that I visited Jamie Oliver's restaurant, expecting the vibrant, high-quality experience his brand represents. While the meal had its moments, it was ultimately a mixed bag that didn't quite live up to the hype. Overall Rating: ★★★☆☆ Here is a breakdown of my dining experience: The Starter: A Refreshing Beginning 🥗 The meal began on a high note with the yogurt salad. It was an absolute delight! 😋 The ingredients were crisp and fresh, and the yogurt dressing was perfectly balanced – tangy, creamy, and incredibly refreshing. It was a vibrant and promising start that cleansed the palate and set a high expectation for what was to come. If every dish had matched this standard, this review would be glowing. The Main Course: A Disappointing Steak 🥩 Unfortunately, the main course was where the experience faltered significantly. I ordered the steak, a classic dish that should be a highlight in any reputable kitchen. What arrived was a major letdown. * Temperature: The steak was served lukewarm, not hot. This is a fundamental error that immediately detracts from the enjoyment of the dish. * Texture: The meat itself was tough and chewy. It lacked the tenderness one expects from a quality cut of beef, making it a chore to eat rather than a pleasure. For a restaurant of this caliber, a poorly executed steak is a cardinal sin. This was, without a doubt, the most disappointing part of the meal. 😕 Side Dishes: Simply Ordinary 🍟🥬 To accompany the steak, I had spinach and chips. There isn't much to say about them other than they were perfectly ordinary. They were neither bad nor particularly good. They served their purpose as side dishes but lacked any special touch, unique seasoning, or memorable quality that would elevate them beyond standard fare. Final Verdict My visit to Jamie Oliver's was a tale of two dishes. A wonderfully fresh and delicious starter was sadly overshadowed by a deeply disappointing main course. While the potential for excellence is clearly there (as shown by the salad), the lack of consistency, especially with a core menu item like steak, brings the overall experience down. A three-star rating feels appropriate – an average experience with moments of both satisfaction and significant disappointment. I had hoped for better.
One would expect, exceptional quality food & service from such a high profile celebrity chef. However, I was a little disappointed. Some aspects were good others not so. We were greeted nicely & I arrived before my partner, I ordered a small bottle of beer & the Borough Olives & bread, my partner arrived she ordered a Mojito & a green tea, the cocktail arrived with the olives & bread, but no sign of the green tea, in fact we had to ask 3 times before the tea arrived, some 15 minutes later. The olives are served on a bed of ice, which looks good at first, but the ice melts quickly & so the olives are left in what looks like dark water, not great ! On the positive, the 2 starters we ordered were excellent, the Gravlax & prawn cocktail were very tasty, my main wasn't great, chicken wrapped in a croissant with a green sauce & something else in the green sauce, looked like it had curdled ? The chicken was very white & if I didn't know any better, I would of said it was reconstituted, obviously, I hope not, the green sauce didn't add to tast either. I also got sent a discount voucher, I didn't ask for it was just sent to me, I was told to let the server know & show him the email as soon as I sat down, which i did & each server after that I was told to show it to the next server, if fact 4 times ? I'm aware I could of returned the chicken, but we were going to the theatre next door & time was important. Overall, huge restaurant lovely decor, but needs a few tweaks in my humble opinion..🤷♂️
Visited on a Saturday around 1pm, the restaurant was fairly quiet at first and gradually picked up, though it never got full. The atmosphere was lovely, especially the indoor courtyard, and the interior design was bright, open, and tastefully done. Service was friendly but noticeably slow. We had to flag staff multiple times for basic things like water, ordering dessert, and eventually just to get the bill. That said, they were excellent about managing food allergies, very attentive and thorough in explaining menu adjustments to accommodate dietary needs. We tried both the set menu and à la carte. While the presentation of the dishes was nice, the flavors didn’t quite live up to expectations. The smoked salmon starter (modified to be gluten-free) came with crudités instead of bread, which was completely fine - but they left whipped butter on the plate, which we mistook for a veggie dip. Not exactly appetizing. The steak from the set menu was a bit chewy, though the pickles (nibbles section) were a standout. The chicken and rabbit pie was let down by a tough pastry crust that was difficult to cut through. The biggest disappointment was the Black Forest cake. It looked beautiful and the menu description was enticing, but the execution fell flat. The cake was dry and difficult to eat - when I tried cutting in with a fork, the dense layers dragged the rest of the cake with them. I ended up tipping it on its side just to get through it. Not worth the £12. Given Jamie Oliver’s reputation, especially after his recent feature on Chef’s Table, I had higher expectations. While there were some positives, the experience overall didn’t quite hit the mark.
I usually never write negative reviews and strongly believe that if you have nothing good to say, it’s better not to say anything at all. However, this New Year’s Eve was so disappointing and upsetting that I feel the need to share our experience. We had booked a table for two at Jamie Oliver Restaurant Catherine Street for New Year’s Eve, paying £180 for the special menu. Our reservation was for 8:30 pm, but we did not get a table until 9:30 pm, after waiting an entire hour at the bar, where we seemed to have been forgotten. Eventually, we were seated at a very small table close to the emergency exit. Once seated, the vegetarian menu was a shock. We were served two croquettes as an amuse-bouche, followed by two mushroom-based dishes, one as a starter and one as a main course. As vegetarians who do not like mushrooms, this left us with no real alternative. Unfortunately, both dishes looked extremely unappetising and did not taste good either. I was unable to eat either of them. Service throughout the evening was very strained. Drinks arrived only very rarely, leaving us without beverages for much of the night. At least our Dry January started a little earlier than planned. At 11:10 pm, the waitress asked whether we were “ready for dessert,” but it was not served until after midnight. What I found particularly upsetting was that, despite everything, we still had to pay the full amount. In addition to the £180 already paid, we were charged another £80 for drinks, with no gesture of goodwill or reduction offered. The bill arrived so late that we were only able to leave the restaurant at around 1:30 am. Because of this delay, we missed the fireworks entirely. When we walked towards Covent Garden, the underground station was already closed. We then tried Holborn, but the station was overcrowded, and getting a taxi was impossible. In the end, we had to walk home for more than two hours in -4°C temperatures. While the restaurant is, of course, not responsible for public transport issues, had we not waited so long for our table, our food, and especially the bill, we would have been able to leave much earlier. Given the circumstances, I believe it would have been appropriate to show some goodwill and at least waive the additional charges on top of the already expensive New Year’s Eve menu. The staff clearly seemed overwhelmed, and the restaurant appeared to be overbooked. I am giving one star solely for the waitstaff, who were trying their best and likely had a very difficult evening themselves.
Tough love through and through. Got a reservation for 6.30pm, were told the table isn't ready yet and we are free to wait at the bar. After us remarking there is only one free chair and we are two people we went outside for a smoke to wait for our table. Went back in 10min later to be informed it might take another 10-15mins. This time there was a place at the bar fortunately, no compensation though for making us wait nearly 30mins to be seated. Although we've had coats with us, there was no offer to store them in a wardrobe or even a coat hanger so make sure you have enough place to arrange it around your chair. After another 20min we've been able to order - we got there at 6.30pm and two of the dishes we wanted to try were already out of stock. Service itself is nice but generally rather unavailable, ordering the bill took another 15 minutes. We wanted to take some food to go (as did the table next to us) - we were then given individual dishes wrapped in tin foil with the remark there are no bags available. We've all had a desperate laugh and left as fast as possible (picture attached). How a restaurant carrying this name and demanding such prices it seems absurd not to be prepared to offer the most basic take away boxes. The food itself was rather bland and nothing to recommend from my side. Good cocktails and interior design though!
We came for lunch. It was rainy day. Hostess greeted us and took us directly to the table, without offering to check coats. We had to ask for it. Very limited menu for food and drinks choices. All food was rather bland. My son had fish and chips. Nothing special. We had the same classic dish in the London pubs. My daughter had mussels. She liked the dish. My wife ordered steak, which was bland, rubbery and overcooked. She didn't even finish it. I had Trevor chicken. It was also bland. Chicken was very white, rubbery consistency. I suspect it was deep frozen and not freshly made. We ordered dessert, which we didn't have a chance to try, because it never came. While we were at the table our waiter disappeared and we had to ask another waiter for dessert menu. After about 20 minutes waiting, I caught waiter who gave us a menu and he kind of brushed me off, saying "it's coming". After another 10 minutes, I found a manager and told him that if our dessert is not coming, then we would like to get a bill. After another 10 minutes, manager came running, threw bill on the table and run away. I had enough cash to pay the bill, otherwise I'd probably wait another 30 min for the card reader. Overall, very disappointed with poor service and lack of attention. We like to watch Jamie Oliver show and came to his restaurant. You would expect better quality of food and service from celebrity chief restaurant. I hope Mr. Oliver reads reviews and checks out how his restaurant doing. My advice - don't waste your time and money on this establishment. There are plenty much better places in the Central London IMHO.
I love Jamie Oliver so much that I came all the way from Korea to England to eat here, but they told me that I had to pay a service charge after I finished my meal, and even though I only bought one water, two were listed on the receipt. If there was a customer who didn't speak English or just paid the service charge, I would have felt very wronged. And the beef was very tough. The food and service were both bad but egg is good
We came from Australia to to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The restaurant looks welcoming and the inside is visually stunning. We were enthusiastically greeted by an Italian waiter who showed us to a lovely corner of the restaurant that was intimate and cosy. A waitress asked us if we wanted some bread. We said we did but then thought we would like to see a menu before deciding. Looking at the menu, there were other ‘Nibbles’ available so we cancelled the bread. But then the bread arrived so we had to tell the waiter again that the order had been cancelled. We ordered a beer and a glass of sparkling wine. Andrew loved his beer and the sparkling was presented in a beautiful long-stemmed glass. We also ordered a bottle of mineral water. I ordered the pate and the burger and Andrew ordered the gravlax and the fish and chips. Some time later, the waitress returned and said there was no pate available. I was confused as to why she didn’t know that before taking our order. She didn’t refill our water glasses so I poured the water for us. She also didn’t ask us if we wanted another drink and so we had empty glasses in front of us for some time before we were able to notify a different waiter that we would like another round of drinks. Instead of the pate, I ordered the croquettes. These were beautifully presented but they were only lukewarm. Andrew's gravlax was very well plated and it looked like great care had been taken to present these dishes well before they left the kitchen. The waitress then asked us if we’d like more mineral water and we said we did, but it never arrived. Andrew’s fish and chips arrived. This again looked very inviting – crispy, crunchy, golden batter enhanced by the brightness of the mushy peas and pickle. But then came my burger. Having seen what is promoted on the restaurant’s Instagram post, I thought I knew what to expect. But there was no commonality between what is shown on Instagram and what was put in front of me. On Instagram and on the menu, it says it’s a ‘double beef patty’. There was only a single beef patty. It says it comes with ‘house-made cheese’. I could barely find the cheese – there wasn’t enough for me to be able to taste it. It says it comes with ‘special sauce’. There was absolutely no sauce anywhere on that burger. I took a bite and it was dry, under-seasoned, and flavourless. It was so dry the patty had fallen apart and as I picked up the burger, the broken part fell out onto the plate. I sat there, not eating the burger, for around half an hour. I saw staff looking at me but they didn’t approach. Finally the waitress came to collect our plates. It was then that I told her there was a problem with the burger. Then a Portuguese waiter approached. He asked me what the problem was. I asked him what was supposed to be in the burger. I showed him the Instagram post and asked him if what I had been given resembled in any way, what was on Instagram and what was described on the menu. . He apologised and said I could order something else. But by then it had been so long since Andrew had finished his meal that we wouldn’t have been eating together and we had to get to the theatre. We decided not to order dessert and told them we were leaving. The bill didn’t arrive. We went up to pay and the Italian waiter apologised that the bill hadn’t been brought to the table. He gave us the bill and we had been charged for the bread. They corrected the error. We paid 100 pounds and I’d only eaten two and a half tiny croquettes. We were standing at the exit when they remembered we were there for a special occasion and brought out a bowl of ice cream with a candle in it. But it was 7:15pm and Mama Mia was starting in 15 minutes. We needed to leave. The burger I had been given should never have left the kitchen. The staff should have approached the situation long before it was too late to attempt to make amends. We left feeling disappointed and wondering how it was possible it all went so terribly wrong.
If you like dry, chewy chicken with your salad you’re in luck. I had one bite and sent it back. I didn’t take the chance of ordering an alternative. Very disappointing and not recommended.
