Opinions de Morito Exmouth Market London
Have been to both Exmouth store and Hackney store. Would definitely prefer Exmouth. We order the following for our visits (4 people): 1. Padro peppers 2. Sweet Onion tortilla 3. Fried chickpeas 4. Crispy aubergine 5. Deep fried squid 6. Prawns 7. Chicharrones (pork belly) 8. Spiced lamb, aubergine, pomegranate Everything is delicious, sweet onion tortilla and deep fried squid are very well cooked and delicious. Fried chickpeas, crispy aubergine and spiced lamb are exceptional, creative, and simply excellent. Prawn and pork belley are not bad, but the flavor is a bit too strong (salty). It has been 8 years since I first visit Morito. I am surprised and exuberant to find some of my favorite dishes are still on the menu (fried chickpeas and spiced lamb). Now that I know they offer different menu from the one in Hackney, I would definitely visit the store more often.
Highly recommended. Best spot for a date, drink and light tapas on Exmouth Market, much prefer food here than the larger sister Moro next door. Wine list is small but very well put together, reasonably priced and very tasty, including carafes. We have been here several times and tried everything - do not miss the chorizo, pan con tamate, chickpeas, squid, lamb chops or raisin ice cream.
Excellent tapas at a great price, packed full of seasonal ingredients. What a great spot for a Saturday afternoon lunch. We ordered slightly too much, but the menu was just irresistible! Highlights were the lamb chops
There aren't too many seats inside but it's nice to sit by the bar and see what the staff is doing inside the bar. The atmosphere is lively. The food here is really good. Don't have other tapas experience in London but at least this one lives up to my expectations. Don't come alone though or you cannot get too many tapas.
One of my favorites in the city. You can’t go wrong with anything. Do go early or book in advance. The restaurant gets filled up fast. We ordered the scallops, lamb chops, fried aubergine, and the chorizo dish for two people. The aubergine fries was amazing! It’s “tapas” style so the portions won’t be very big but still great for sharing and trying loads of new flavors. Their drinks are also very good. It’s very popular, we were so lucky to get seats!
A cute little tapas place at the heart of Exmouth market. The food is fresh and delicious, albeit the portion is a bit small. But - it’s tapas and it’s London so I guess it’s to be expected. The food is super delicious though.
Foods are quite nice, place is more like cafe. Orange wine is very great and tasty
Delicious experience. Would definitely recommend a good 7-8 plates between 4 people. Servings of bread also to lap up the sauces and dips. The pork belly was exceptional.
Absolutely superb tapas restaurant with many vegetarian options and a lovely wine list including natural/orange wines, which you should definitely try. Brilliant young staff take this place to lofty heights.
absolutely loved the - puntillitas (deep fried baby squid sumac & alioli) - iberico jamon - lamb chops with rosemary and anchovy butter - beetroot borani
Delicious food. £10 for a small tinto de verano seemed a bit too much even for London but still enjoyed everything.
Hands down, MORITO served the best tapas I’ve ever eaten in my life! That’s saying something coming from this foodie. It was packed yet maintained a relaxed and lively vibe, with customers enjoying conversations and the servers offering excellent service and well informed selections. My favorite was the jerusalem artichoke and merinda tomato salad with crickets & cardamom. So fresh, crispy and flavorful. My partner loved the chicharrones - pork belly, lemon & cumin. Outstanding! We also savored the gambas al ajillo (shrimp sautéed in garlic). Walk-ins only, this restaurant is worth a short wait on a busy night. The orange and pink wines match perfectly! BRAVO!!
We tried a bunch of dishes here and loved them all, but the chicharron and the pan con tomate were absolutely stellar! Sitting outside lets you soak up the lively Exmouth vibe, which is super fun. But if you prefer a quieter spot, the inside has this cozy, Spanish cafe feel that’s just as great. They serve some decent house wine, and the cañas—those half pints—are poured in true Spanish style. Definitely a place to hit up if you're in the mood for some authentic vibes and tasty bites! It describes itself as “Morito Exmouth Market is a Spanish/Moorish tapas and mezze bar next door to sister restaurant Moro on Exmouth Market. Since opening in 2010, Morito has received rave reviews.”
Visited Morito for a work lunch, they were extremely accommodating considering we were a party of 11 just before a busy lunch service. We booked in advance as we had a team event, the restaurant was absolutely packed when we left. All of the food was hot, fresh and delicious, I enjoyed chorizo a la planche, salt cod croquetas and chicken a la plancha, there were also plenty of vegetable options. Thanks to the staff, we had a great meal and would definitely visit again.
Everything on the menu is amazing! Although wines are a little bit too pricey for its quality. Service was very friendly too!
Good hearty food, nice flavours, nice people, nice little touches like fresh flowers and spices on the table.
Here you don’t find any pictures of food taken by me. Simply because I couldn’t wait, I felt the urge of eating immediately what I ordered. The food is delicious, especially the octopus and the lamb chop. This is not pure Spanish cuisine, it is influenced by Moroccan flavors. Not bad at all! I really liked the little twists on the dishes. Highly recommended!
Love coming here as it has consistently delicious tapas. The setting is warm and welcoming and I enjoy sitting at the bar to watch the maestros prepare the delicacies. The tomato and anchovy was well balanced and fresh. The lamb was soft and flavorful and the beet dip was delicious. I’ll be back.
We were looking for a spot to eat dinner close to the flat we were staying at and found Morito’s Moorish tapas menu intriguing. The food and service were fantastic. We showed up a little before 9pm and the kitchen closed at 9:30pm, but they said we were more than welcome to come in and have dinner. So glad we stopped there, the food was very flavorful and perfectly executed. One of the unique things I hadn’t had before was the puntillitas, very tasty. The spiced butter sauce on the prawns was delicious. Don’t skip on the rose and cardamom ice cream for dessert.
Amazing, made to feel so welcome and we were lucky enough to sit opposite the chef and watch the dishes come through! The food was full of flavour with every dish bringing a new delight!
Loved this place! We arrived here on a Friday evening without a booking and the team made a way to accommodate us! We were served really quickly and the drinks and food were absolutely fantastic and so reasonably priced. The dished we had were all excellent. A definite highlight was the crispy aubergine.
Unrivalled Mediterranean tapas, rustic setting and casual venue. Juicy lamb chops, fantastic duck as well as crispy aubergine, don't forget bread - always fresh and tasty. Booking recommended on Opentable for evening meals and over the weekend.
I stopped there for some beers, patatas bravas, olives and pan con tomate and it was all delicious!! Not many vegan options but the service and atmosphere were great! 👍
Amazing place! The chef was beyond accommodating of my dietary requirements and the food was INCREDIBLE. Can't wait to go again!
I love this restaurant, so much so that I’m always happy to go back and recommend it to others. It’s laid back, fresh, and reasonably priced. The dishes are all modern takes on classic tapas and Mediterranean dishes that we know and love. The service is quick and friendly and the space is fun and vibey. Perfect for date night or catch ups with friends. Make a reservation in advance if you’re visiting the Exmouth Market location, but the Hackney Road spot is a little bigger and can probably accommodate some spontaneity in your planning.
They share the same venue with Moro (adjacent restaurant) but they only serve delicious tapas. Ideal if you fancy something to eat before heading to mikkeller (the 🇩🇰 danish pub in front) for a craft beer 🍺
Excellent food and service. Everything we had was excellent and the wine, cold and tasty. Too much to describe here now, but an easy 5 star. Loved it. Will come back. Very recommended. Not cheap.
What a wonderful discovery. Visited with four friends and ordered a variety of portions of food and shared them amongst us. Super tasty and deceptively filling, as I was worried the modest sizes might not feed us all! Be aware that the seats have no backs, they are just little stools, and the tables themselves are quite small, so chances are you will be knocking your neighbour beside you and behind you, so it's a way to make friends easily :-D
Great tapas, casual ambiance and fast service. We will definitely go back! Below are a few dishes we would recommend: -chicken with almond sauce and red peppers -cod croquetas -fried aubergine -the bread was delightful!
Nice local tapas bar. A bit too crowded, both servers and other patrons keep walking into you and apologising all the time. The tapas were tasty, albeit a bit under seasoned for the most part. The main server was friendly, but some of the others seemed not to have any idea what was going on. Worth going there if you happen to be close by.
Had dinner with a friend here last Wednesday. Whilst the tapas are expensive -£9!! or so- and we commiserated how we can get the same items in Spain for less than half of that price, we had to admit the quality was excellent. I had the pumpkin pisto, aubergine with honey and bacalao croquetas and was very impressed with the portion sizes as well, especially the aubergine. My friend also was impressed with the plate size of her patatas bravas. Service was quick and efficient. We sat at the bar. I’m also subtracting a star bc the wine “carafe” was really overpriced. Honestly I’ve seen MUCH bigger carafes in other places- this was barely two glasses a person. For £14! It’s a better deal to get a single glass. Not a bad dry white wine but not the best I’ve had.
This casual restaurant serves delicious well-priced tapas. Everything is well-seasoned and moreish. It's ideal for small groups, so you can order many dishes and share. The crispy aubergine, whipped feta and date molasses are highly recommended (we had two servings!). As are the croquetas, and fried chickpeas, chopped salad and tahini. The puntillitas are crisp and delicious. The grilled tetilla cheese is also a must!
Spanish restaurant. Good tapas. Tortilla was excellent. Interesting cocktails. Service was polite but not slick (E.g gave us the bill but did not return with the card machine).
Came here without a booking and sat at the bar. It's quite loud inside and tight, but the servers are all very friendly and accommodating. The food was really tasty tapas, with the house wine being an excellent pairing for most of the dishes.
First experience Sep-2018 Second experience May-2025: good. Slightly overpriced but what's not in London?
Had a few tapas for dinner with a friend: asparagus tortilla, slow cooked cauliflower, beetroot borani and deep fried baby squid. Unfortunately I find the food is generally on the salty side. Our favourite is the beetroot borani which is an excellent dip for bread!!
A simple place with good and friendly service. Best seat might the the stools at the front window. Enjoy tapas and watch the world walk by.
Recommended by a friend as somewhere for a tapas lunch before the ballet at Sadlers Wells. Warm reception on arrival. There were three of us sharing a mixture of plates, the staff suggested we choose 6. Interesting combinations of flavours, nicely presented. Clearly popular with a nice mixed clientele and good service. However, £50 a head is somewhat excessive for small plates.
Gorgeous food in a lovely setting. We sat at the window counter and had a lot of fun people watching while enjoying the food. Would have been 5 stars, but we ordered an 'extra' mushroom dish cos we were feeling greedy but it was a bit oily and flavourless. Everything else was incredible! We are veggie and there were loads of choices. Would recommend.
Food was a little overpriced for the quality, but overall good tapas. Salted cod was a little too salty, the spicy lamb lacked the spice, and the chocolate mousse had a little too much olive oil for my liking. However, the atmosphere was really nice.
Not bad, but not in the top tier of Spanish restaurants in London. Gambas al ajillo and rose & cardamom ice cream were the highlights; tortilla and patatas bravas being the lowlights. The amount of vermouth in a glass also seemed rather small. Service was quite nice. Staff were very knowledgeable about the wines and helped in choosing the right ones, and dishes came out pretty fast.
Nice tapas and service, were seated at bar as all tables were booked, however 4 table’s remained empty for our whole stay? Annoyingly another walk-in was then seated at a table >:( Expensive but price offset by EOtoHO scheme . Would probably still come back and make a reservation next time
The food is honestly rather mid. The aubergine was too sweet, the carrots too sour, the bread too dense… In a city like London, you just need to do better
Most things tasted good, but totally overpriced for what you get and the quality of the cooking isn't where it should be. The pork belly was mainly undercooked, the sardines a la plancha were too big to be eaten with bones without choking - and it took forever to clean them. Tonto de verano had only ice, lemonade and the colour of red wine.
Food was alright, some nice plates, some meh plates and it was expensive, especially for what it was. The vibe was nice though and the service was decent. Side note, anchovies definitely worth getting if you’re going to commit.
The food was quite good. The place is tiny and was full packed for Sunday brunch. The service, on the other hand, was disappointing. It looked like the waiters are being forced to work, messed up our order, didn't bring some of the items at all.
Went yesterday night we had a booking at 6pm. Foodwise way overpriced and the quality didn't match the monetary value of each plate. The worst thing that turned us off was the rude service and the fact that upon arriving at 6, we were told that 7.15 we had to get out as there was a party booking. We weren't informed beforehand, so has we known we would have changed our booking time. Or we wouldn't have come at all. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else and please speak to your staff. And lower your prices whilst we are at it.
I rarely write reviews, but I usually do so when a place clearly exceeds expectations—or when I feel there’s room for improvement. In this case, I’m afraid the overall experience didn’t quite meet the mark, especially considering the price point. The prawns were unfortunately underwhelming—£15 for five, with little flavour. It felt a bit lacking in both generosity and quality. The tortilla also didn’t meet expectations; I’ve had much better, even from simple supermarket options. This may just be a matter of personal taste, but I would suggest revisiting the balance between pricing and what’s offered on the plate. Wishing you continued success and hoping this feedback is useful. Kind regards, Y.
It used to be one of my favourite restaurants in London and haven’t been back for a while so I thought I’d give it a go again. Unfortunately it has gone downhill in the steepest way possible, cutting back on quality and quantify and putting up their prices sky high. The food is extremely salty almost as if it’s putting spoonfuls of salt into the mouth, inedible almost. The bread basket was a plate of one piece of flat bread and several small pieces of half inch sized bread, all tasting pretty stale. It is now expensive for what it is and the food is just bad. Used to be able to squeeze in between the tables and sit on the tiny little stools but really unbearable now with loud people sitting next to you, literally resting on each others backs. Don’t think I’d be back again for a while, plenty other places to go to these days in London for the same amount of money.
Deep fried, unappealing and repellent food. Each small dish is priced above 10£, we ended up ordering 4 and left most of it untouched.
