Motil Mahal, located in Southall, is one of the oldest and most renowned restaurants along Southall Broadway. It specializes in traditional North Indian Punjabi street food, offering an authentic culinary experience. I have been visiting this establishment for the past 10 years, and the taste of their dishes has consistently remained exceptional and flavorful. We have tried their Gol Gappe, Sev Puri, Punjabi Samosa Chaat, Makki di Roti paired with Sarson da Saag, Aloo Paratha, and Mixed Paratha. My kids enjoyed their Chicken Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala served with plain basmati rice. The menu features a wide selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, with the option to customize the spice level from mild to very hot according to your preference. Highly recommended for those seeking authentic North Indian cuisine.
I had amazing experience here. The food was delicious and the staff was way too polite. They have a lot of options in their menu where every family member would get something mouthwatering to eat.
With ample seating spread over two floors and a very easy menu to choose from, this place did not disappoint. The service of food was very fast. The food tasted as good as it looked. Must try in Southall.
Always a treat to visit. We always order Chole Kulche along with other delicacies. We always meet Inder Ji when we come and she serves us with respect and smile always. Prices are reasonable and service is top level.
Food and service can not be faulted. The food was simply outstanding, the service was brilliant which equated to.a perfect ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ dining experience.
I would like to say that since I was a child I have always been going to Moti Mahal for my takeaways!! Now it's re branded and everything seems to look so cool and updated. The authenticity of the place is just a WOW factor due to its punjabi culture which included places names as well as the traditional thali cutlery. I would like to mention Mr Rana who has always been a gem of a person to get served by and his politeness and knowledge on the food its just second to none!! I would highly reccomend going to MOTI MAHAL SOUTHALL and enjoying the lush food and the authentic atmosphere. It was an absolute pleasure to be celebrating my mothers bday today at your restaurant.
Best service , best staff , hygenenic atmosohere, They provide fresh food according to your requirement and desire. Price is also cheap and best. All over all this , food was very deliouswe enjoyed a lot.
The place to visit if looking for dishes which cater to Indian palate. Ordered the Jalebi, Samosa Chaat and Dahi Puri. They did not disappoint
Really nice place. The service was quick and very good. The food tasted amazing — real, authentic Indian flavors. Everything was fresh and delicious.
Gurpreet was very kind and suggested us menu favourites. He was prompt and proactive , ensured that our food came on time in spite of a busy Saturday afternoon. We will definitely visit again.
I always go to Moti Mahal when I’m in Southall. The food here has never disappointed me. They are quite fast in delivering your order to the table. The jalebi here is super delicious.
Tasty food. Good service. Best place and value for money in Southall. Fresh jalebis are a bonus!
Nice, clean establishment with an abundance of menu options. First time ever I saw someone offer Kerala (bitter ghourd) on the menu. The treat is to have the jalebi and pakode fresh from the hot oil! Even when there is some sitting there, they always cook a fresh batch which was really nice to see. The host was very polite and mindful of the children too. Would definitely come back again and again.
Amazing Indian food Nice veg and non veg options
Great place to have Indian food and also pocket friendly as compared to to other restaurants 😊
Went on the Weekend with the Family a few weeks back and loved their food as always.
Authentic punjabi in Southall. The kulchas are fantastic. Highly recommended.
Very good food , proper hygiene environment, staff there is very polite specially inder who served us
Amazing experience highly recommended Rana uncle ji
We always come to Moti Mahal whenever we visit Southall. The food is always topnotch, authentic and meeting high standards.Special mention for the fresh jalebis that we buy everytime ....its always a treat. The staff is very polite and helpful especially Kunal and Harsh, who offered exceptional service.
Today we visit to moti mahal so we ordered samosa and butter chicken along with butter naan so food was really amazing and the nature of gurpreet is extremely good and he speaks very polite to everyone even his service is excellent so i would recommend to come moti mahal
Great authentic Punjabi food, great atmosphere and service was excellent. Special mention to Rana, very attentive. Definitely recommend
I visited first time in motimahal ordered aloo prantha really it’s very delicious served by Rana uncle he is very kind person
Amazing taste 👌 and prefect food too. Very friendly always smile and help. We will come again is best Moti Mahal!!!!
Food wasn't too bad! I don't recommend the papdi chaat, however the chicken rolls and kulchas were amazing. Gurpreet was very knowledgeable and helpful in deciding what to order and his service was extremely attentive and friendly.
Uncle Rana was the best 10/10 service!!!!! Proper Punjabi man, made us feel like we were back home. He definitely deserves a raise!
It is one of the places which delivered what I expected. It is overwhelming to walk into Southall.Every joint claims to be the best. The food here was authentic. Some dishes better than others.I tried soya chaal paneer tikka.Gobi manchurian was okay. But that is because Indo chinese can be different in different parts.Lassi and Khulfi were rich.Prices are not cheap for a small place. But the owner is friendly and tries to make you feel welcome.Having been to places where I left half the food as it was so bad, left Moti Mahal fully fed and satisfied.Paneer quality was definitely melty.
It was my 1st visit to South hall to explore the Indian food scene. After countless instagram reels and food bloggers review I decided to try a few spots here. After a long walk checking out most places we settled down on trying Moti Mahal considering there was a good amount of crowd. We tried the pani puri, chole bhature, jalebi and gulab jamun. The pani puri / Golgappe was a 4/5, much better than most other places I have been too. Being a chat liver I have had a terrible experience finding the right quality of puri here in the UK. The chole bhature had high expectations but would rate them a 3.5/5 as I have definitely had better and more authentic ones around. The service was quick, staff were friendly. In deserts we tried the hot jalebi and gulab jamun both a 3.5 again. On a whole this is an average find, i definitely expected a lot more. Maybe will visit again to explore other items like their samosa chat and dahi chat which looked tempting.
Went today and had samosas for starters which were spicy and average, the limca a was nice and refreshing. Paranthas were authentic and very tasty, yogurt and mixed pickle served and plentiful. The mango lassi was one of the best I have ever had amazing although the jug was pricey.
Visited during peak hours on a rainy Diwali day. So impressed by the Samosa chaat, the staff is also very nice. Down points for the over-usage of yoghurt on everything and for hygiene that felt a bit lacking. But it’s understandable, given how busy it was, literally no space to walk downstairs. Decent pricing, good location, nice vibes upstairs and very nice Indian decoration. definitely worth a visit.
The food was very good. Was pleasantly surprised. 5 stars bit given as we were being charged for takeaway containers.
Moti Mahal is a very good shout for family dinners, friends and small gatherings. The food is really nice especially the Soya Sizzler, Aloo Tikki Chaat, Kebab Rolls and Falooda Ice cream, although everything else is amazing too. There are two floors and both are kept clean and tidy. Staff are very informative and always their when you need help. One thing I would say is that sometimes they forget to give you the basics such as tissue and chutneys but maybe due to a lot of customers, it can be a minor issue. I would recommend to eat here if you haven't already.
Last year Moti Mahal was falling apart but this time when I walked in after a year I have to say they've done absolutely amazing. Refurbished the whole restaurant, changed the menu and even have Soya chicken! Only concern is, I'm not sure what happens behind the doors so I cannot say anything about the hygiene level. When we were seated the table wasn't even made and we had to constantly call for someone for assistance. Overall food was lovely and will be coming back hoping better service delivered.
Because of the Ramadan, the restaurant we used to go was closed and Moti Mahal was one of the rare ones to be opened. Staff is super kind and very helpful. Quality is actually quite good and we were pleasantly surprised. Not as good as the other restaurant we know but not far behind. An address to keep in mind.
One of the best Samosa and Jalebi. It was so good that we had to order another round. Will visit again.
Found this place while on a shopping spree in southall. The service was quick, and seating was comfortable. The spice level was lower as per my expectations, I generally venture out for Indian food when my taste buds crave for spicy and masala, so a bit disappointed. But overall experience was good.
Loved this place! Reminded me of my time in India. Staff were so friendly and food was amazing. The non veg thali was so delicious and filling. Definitely coming back here
Very good place for Indian snacks in Southall. Reasonable rates and cozy place. Their chat and jalebi items are good. Mango shake was exceptional. So is Chana Bhatura. Would love to go back. Nicely maintained.
Loved the atmosphere and the food definitely a worth while visit definitely gonna come back . Especially loved how politely Rana uncle was you definitely made the visit a even better one with your wholesome attitude, loved your service 😍
The food is really good. Rana Uncle is so welcoming and sweet. He approached every customer with the same energy and enthusiasm. Would definitely go there again.
We got inside but it seemed not to be very tidy so we left. The restaurant has ground floor and quite a big hall and toilets upstairs. Downstairs there is a huge selection of sweets. Outside they sell fresh Punjabi Samosas and Jalebi. I took both and it was delicious, stuffing and crispiness were on spot. It was the first time I came across such chutney which they added. It was really delicious and unique. Unfortunately the service wasn't nice either in or out. The lady who served us outside was very rude and answered every question as if she was there as a punishment. Because of that my review is going down. It's a shame because the food is really good and if it wasn't for the service I would give at least one star higher.
A typical dhaba-style cuisine. The food was satisfactory. It's Very busy place with fairly speedy service.
Taste wise better but a bit pricey. Samosa chat was good as compared to Punjabi samosa chat. Well thought to have Pani puri here but not the best experience
Good service but average food. While chilli soya chaap was decent, the Amritsari Kulcha was lacking in most aspects - no spices in the aloo in the kulcha, the chholle was lacking salt as well as sourness - I'm surprised no one has pointed this out given Southall is supposed to be heavily dominated by folks who'd know what a half-decent Amritsari kulcha tastes like.
Food was very delicious and authentic However food arrived cold and staff not very pleasant from start to end considering you we spent over, £120.00, the service needs to improve. We had to ask for our items on several occasions with sarcastic comments from the team members especially the older guy at the front. Would not visit again for these reasons but I would like to repeat the food tasted great.
Tried the Pani Masala with Sweet Chutney and Pani Puri with Jaljeera — flavors didn’t blend well, and the puri was too hard, hitting the gums. Samosa Chaat was also not up to the mark. Overall, disappointing experience.
Our visit to Moti Mahal was quite enjoyable. I highly suggest trying their paneer tikka; it was incredibly fresh and tasty, and even the kids couldn't get enough of it. My wife thoroughly enjoyed their chole bhature as well. I appreciated the unique touch of naming the tables after Punjab cities like Chandigarh. However, I'd advise against getting the jalebi from there; it was overcooked and didn't compare to Jalebi Junction's quality. The staff managing tables downstairs with iPads weren't very friendly or attentive, and most of the staff seemed a bit cold-hearted, but the serving staff was exceptional.
My personal experience is okay - I've been here a few times, more so because Southall is very limited to food options. The staff are nice, however, the owner seems to be quite rude, especially to his staff. The food is okay, but very spicy, even when asked to be made mild. I only tend to get Chaats as the rest will be too spicy. Also, it seems like they try squeeze in as many tables as possible, it tends to feel quite cramped.
Disgusting, threatening, and verbally abusive behaviour from the manager/owner of this establishment. Only because we queried if the food was halal. He proceeded to make anti muslim remarks as we decided to walk out and take our custom next door. I do not recommend this place at all, as this guy is obviously islamophobic. And having read other reviews, it seems the owner is arrogant and rude to customers. Please avoid.
Yesterday, I had ordered samosas and those were to much spicy after eating that samosas we had alot of stomach pain and now we are not feeling well it was a bad experience for us my friends cames from ipswich they also realised that those are to much spicy
