Always lovely atmosphere and well attentive and polite service from all staff. Food was perfect. Lovely roast beef dinner and didn't leave a single piece of food on the plate.

I really love this pub! The food is really good and I love its atmosphere. I took a star away because I booked a Private room and at our arrival it was freezing cold as the staff forgot to turn on the heating.

Absolutely love The Avalon!! We had our team Christmas lunch here - everyone loved it. The private room was a great size and all the staff were so attentive - will definitely be back!

A group of 7, I’m Coeliac so gluten free choices available for me. Childrens menu and high chair too. A great afternoon and would go again.

We ran a charity Quiz night and everyone had a great time. The food was lovely and table service for drinks made it easy for all our guests. Thank you team.

We had a very good experience with a dinner in the Avalon’s Blue Room on Friday. It was spot on for our group - the room was great, really good food (very reasonably priced IMO) and Imogen - our waitress - looked after us really well and kept the drinks flowing! Everyone had a lot of fun - and the whole team were really welcoming. Special mention to Sophie as well who helped coordinate the whole thing. If you’re looking for a good private space for a group event then I’d highly recommend you try the Avalon

We’ve now held our annual friends and family Christmas gathering at Avalon for the third year in a row, and once again had a fantastic time. The pub feels wonderfully festive and cozy, the food is delicious, and the drinks are very reasonably priced. We’ll definitely be booking again next year! And they are dog friendly!

The best evening! I had booked for my birthday before we were going to a party and the staff could not have been more fabulous. They even let us bring all our BYOB and keep it behind the bar and were so helpful carrying everything back and forth for us. The booking process was so easy and I know many friends now that have hosted parties at The Avalon. Absolutely love it here and we go all the time and it is always the best night out but I couldn’t recommend it enough for hosting birthdays or any celebrations. 🫶🏼

I booked a table of 10 for a birthday lunch and we had a great time! Service was excellent - all servers were very friendly, attentive and helpful. I like the Avalon a lot and the only reason I’ve given 3 stars do atmosphere is because there weren’t that many tables dining for lunch so it was a bit quiet in that big room. Appreciate this is not the Avalon’s fault but it is what it is. Def will come again though and the wait staff are great.

The Avalon, what a chirpy place! A lovely Street side pup in the south of Clapham. Plenty of keg beers and three cask ales on offer, all served by the delightful friendly staff. A large European menu on offer with plenty of seating both inside and out where you may enjoy food, drink and company. Avalon is named after the (mythical) Island of fruit trees from Arthurian legend. No sign of the Lady of the Lake here today. Never mind, the beer is great.

Lovely place, amazing food and overall lovely celebration. Will be back again.

Excellent (and huge) pub attended for a work get together. Excellent choice of beers and football, indoor and outdoor seating and live sport. Catered for over 80 colleagues with little fuss.

Fantastic atmosphere We had a chance to try it- Dirty fries ,Confit duck leg ,Dingley Dell roasted pork belly. I ordered a table so that my husband could watch the rugby match between England and France. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of this Victorian pub. Instagram @dininginlondon

I come here a lot and this pub is absolutely great. Today I had one of the best meals ever. This garlic honey roasted pork belly was on the specials and it was everything you could want from a meal.. compliments to the chef!

Didn't eat here but it's a great location and the rooms are lovely and comfy. Quiet too. The only challenge I would say is the car parking. There's not much of it and it's not free.

The family and I had a great time. Sunday roast, great service and good people around us….. if only Arsenal won it would have been perfect.

Booked for their August special (Monday to Wednesday 50% off) and had a great experience. Chicken schnitzel was delicious and beef burger is super juicy. High recommend everyone to take advantage of this August special and book before you go

We had booked the private room for a family get together and the service and food was great - we had dogs and young children and the staff were very accommodating and flexible so would highly recommend!

Lovely place to host class drinks. We had a good space reserved and drink orders were very quick with staff coming to our section. Very pleased with our evening at The Avalon.

We booked the Blue Room for a Christmas family function. The room was beautifully decorated, the staff were wonderful and the food was amazing.

We had a fantastic Christmas lunch at the Avalon - the food was great and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Fantastic well cooked Sunday roast with a yorkshire pudding the size of a football all at a reasonable price. Clean and roomy restaurant with plenty of attentive staff, and a charming secret garden if you want to sit outside. They also honour the Blue light card even on a Sunday. Definitely highly recommended from me.

Had a lovely time for lunch. Sat in the garden under the covers which was lovely. Quite at this time in the day and the bar staff was extremely friendly and helpful when ordering food. Pizza was amazing, would recommend!

Love the layout of this venue, huge change fro when it was The George. The garden area is fantastic nothing over the top just the basics. Service and welcome was very pleasant. Seems like it can get busy so I'd recommend booking or call ahead. Meal was nice. I did enjoy my time here.

A nice pub, close to Clapham Common tube. It’s got a nice large beer garden however on our visit the weather was crap. Our group of 7 ordered a range of peoples from chicken burgers to a salad. Food is fairly typical pub food, most things are fried or covered in breadcrumbs, and showing the football next door means you occasionally jump out of your skin when someone scores.

Very pleased with visit and food but only complaint was that we weregiven bill when I was pointing out we had finished main course Christmas lunch and were waiting for desert. Staff were unable to give a small slice of bread with the cheese selection when requested. Two espresso coffees took a long time to make and were of inferior quality for a service that was not far off £100 per person.

Really lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Great for kids and families (the kids menu is both reasonably priced and healthy options). However, service was really slow and we had to chase them a few times for drinks, the bill, etc. that was the only area lacking from an otherwise lovely meal.

I'd never eaten here before but my wife used to visit quite often many years ago and suggested it as a good middle ground for family that we were meeting. When we arrived the dining room/restaurant was pretty quiet but it filled up with a large party over the course of our meal. The food was good, with generous portions. I had the special, beef brisket with Sunday trimmings, my wife had the roast chicken and my sister-in-law the roast pork, so saw a good selection of the roasts. We all enjoyed the food, although gravy serving was on the small side and my wife requested more, which staff happily provided. Can't fault the food or service but the dining room was quite cold and sound bounces off the walls so got very loud in there as it got busier.

The Avalon is a place I visit semi-regularly. On Sundays it is absolutely rammed. I would say it’s best to make a reservation. On a weekday with a football match on, most tables in the pub area become full from reservations, but the restaurant area is huge (and very pretty). Now, I would said that The Avalon has the best pub pizza I’ve tried thus far. They have a more interesting pizza menu than usual, but will also modify it to fit your preferences. For me, a good pizza is in the stringiness of the cheese and the tomato base; this one doesn’t disappoint. It’s priced at around £30 for a 20 inch and about £13 for the 12 inch. I have also tried other bits off the menu in the restaurant and found them all to be quite good quality for the neighbourhood pub. Quite a mixed crowd which I enjoy. The staff are attentive and accommodating always.

It's a good pub with a good atmosphere. The pub only has one draught ale on tap, Landlord, and they don't seem confident in pulling this. The food was good and gluten free options, while limited where clearly labeled.

The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with a great setup for both indoor and outdoor seating. Drinks were good, and the food was decent, though not particularly memorable. One thing to note is that the back garden closes fairly early, which means most people end up gathering at the front, making it feel a little crowded and stuffy.

Great place to catch up with friends, the food was a bit disappointing but the service was attentive and friendly. The roast dinner looked great, however my burger meal was 2.5 out of 5.

Good pub with a large drinks menu. Unfortunately I did not have good luck with food, sharing plates were good, but my main which was Sunday roast was not that good. I waited 1h before I asked where my food was and then I received a meal that looked good but was not hot, just a little bit warm. Friendly staff, good service. I think I got unlucky, so I will give them a second chance as a friends of mine has always had a good experience here.

The food was pretty disappointing. Described as a chipotle lamb steak with tabbouleh but the tabbouleh was just plain giant couscous so very dry. Wouldn’t recommend that dish. The staff were pretty friendly and helpful with allergens.

Great staff and service only the food didn’t seem to be fresh, we both had bad belly’s all night my friend was vomiting after we ate here. Seems the food is not prepared properly.

Really disappointing experience. We booked and paid for a table in advance, only to be asked to move after we had already arrived and settled. There was no good explanation or apology, and it made us feel like our booking didn’t matter at all. If you’re going to take bookings and payment, you should honour them. Won’t be returning.

Went here for New Years… paid for a table with a big expensive deposit… just to find out the venue had let too many people in and we were suddenly ordered to relinquish our table… (not so easy for me as I had a leg injury and needed seating!) No offer of a refund or any remorse from the manager when he was confronted with the issue of the table… Otherwise probably an alright pub, drinks seemed usual London pricing and those who had entered for a boogie had a good time… just frustrating when you are sold something and then find out you wasted your money. Do better.

Bouncer confiscated my bottled water at 11pm after it had been in my travel bag since I arrived, just because no drinks allowed in outside area after 11pm? I asked a few times politely and explained I needed it for my journey home as I was feeling hungover and was sober, but was just ignored so he could have some power trip with a boy on the next table. The conversation I overheard was also ridiculous, bouncer was belittling the guy for no reason. Otherwise I guess nice atmosphere, but toilets a bit of a trash condition.
