Top Thai restaurant in London. Authentic taste as well.

Lunch on Christmas Eve is a family tradition. The service is excellent and the staff are very good with babies and young children. The food is excellent. I tried the green curry this time which was subtle in coconut flavor. It was a excellent choice.

Outstanding Thai food. Best i have tasted in whole London. The authentic Thai dessert took our breath away-it was fantastic. Great atmosphere and has a huge seating capacity which is a biggest Thai Restaurant I’ve visited. It has a huge bar with great selection of cocktails. It has a separate seiza seating area. Also it has amazing art display. The staff and management are very welcoming and helpful. The price is very reasonable for the exceptional quality so I recommend to all. They deserve 10 star. I thanked my husband for surpassing me on our anniversary and having our dinner here.

This is hands down my favourite date night spot. SUNDAYS and WEDNESDAYS is happy hour all day, so you get 2 for the price of 1 on selected cocktails. The food is so hearty and filling that we always start with the soft shell crab. The 5 rum punch is punchy and will get you drunk if you're not careful. The staff are so lovely we are returning customers and have made friends with the waitresses so its a joy to see them. The service is always hospitable and welcoming they do go above and beyond to give the very best experience. The atmosphere is so lovely you definitely forget where you are when you're inside, they have floor seating with fish nearby. There are also tables and chairs, a cozy bar area and outdoor intimate seating. Overall a venue to suit every occasion

Had a lovely meal at Yum Yum last weekend. Booking online was very easy. There is a bar area before you go through to the restaurant, the member of staff took our drinks order as we waited for friends to arrive. We finally got to our table 45 minutes after the initial time of booking but they were very relaxed about it. We began with the yum yum platter which consisted of spring rolls, chicken wings, satay chicken and fish cakes. I ordered the lamb mussaman curry as my main which came on the bone which was fine. They also do beef and chicken mussaman curries. The menu is a bit overwhelming with so many choices of starters, soups and mains. They also do various desserts and I tried the coconut ice cream which came with my friends order which was surprisingly good. Overall had a fabulous meal with friends and a brilliant evening. Expect to pay around £20-25 for 2 courses, drinks are extra. I can happily recommend YumYum in Stokey and would definitely go back there.

It was such a great experience. It’s THE BEST thai place in London i have been to till now. Me and my friend were literally there for 3 hours because they had such a good outdoor space and it was very peaceful (because it was a Thursday i guess). If you don’t like crowded places too much, go on a Thursday. Food was very very good. Coconut curry chicken (don’t remember the exact name) and sweet and sour chicken were amazing. The fried rice were delicious too. Vegetable springs rolls are a must have, also with their pretty and tasty cocktails. The staff is super friendly and the owner of the place is amazing!! A MUST VISIT PLACE✨✨

Having read mixed reviews about this establishment I was unsure of what to expect. Yum Yums has an impressive entrance with wheelchair access and outside seating. Inside is warm and inviting. We were met and greeted by a charming young lady and shown to our table. Seating for singles, couples, groups and large parties. Service was quick and attentive. Our meals arrived hot and delicious, were filling and very tasty. (I took some of mine home there was so much!). The menu is extensive and caters for most palates. I was impressed by the homemade icecream. I would definitely visit again.

Beautiful Thai restaurant with lots of character and amazing food at the heart of Stoke Newington. Service was also impressive. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been here before or you're new to the area.

You are first greeted by a historic grade 2 listed building with a little courtyard incorporating a prayer area (used by the staff and a really nice touch), a covered flower walkway (used for wheelchair access) and some external cabins which is a perfect place for a few photos or drinks and snacks during the summer months. A great start to see some thought and attention and good use of space rather than just having a bistro style canopy and chairs and tables. This place is huge but it is all partitioned with screens so you never feel isolated or that you are in a big function type space and keeping a nice authentic experience wherever you are seated. I am also informed the chefs are from various areas of Thailand so allowing for regional dishes to be both truly authentic but also allowing for fusion dishes between different areas of Thailand to be created. The staff are so welcoming and warm and even on a cold day you feel warm from the moment you enter. Let’s begin our journey with the vast drinks selection. A full menu of cocktails and mocktails that even a nightclub would struggle to make and all made in house from fresh ingredients. Including the mixers which are all hand made. I don’t think anyone would leave dissatisfied or disappointed from the offering here for sure. Always so happy to see uniqueness and variety in a drinks menu that also caters for non-drinkers. The menu is authentic and you will struggle to choose which dishes to order as you will want to try them all, so I would advise you go with friends so you can order more. The servers are really nice and so is management so down to earth and were happy to help and guide. Thai Prawn Cakes served with a sweet chilli sauce - Really soft and the home made chilli sauce shines through. Even the prawn crackers are served with one of the most amazing and freshly made home made pickles I have ever had. I am not a pickle person but Yum Yum has converted me. I always say when you experience or want someone to experience new dishes take them to the best so they try and never regret. Yum Yum would be a place for anyone new to Thai food. Tom yum goong - A nice clear soup with a kick and served with prawns and nice chunky mushrooms. Had a fresh and zesty lemon taste that really refreshes and cleansed the pallet. A great starter for these colder months. Lamb Mussaman - Another house special similar to Beef red curry but more of a kick and more complex taste structure which is richer and creamier in taste. The lamb just melts and a dish you have to try. I can’t wait to have this again. Som Tam - served cold but fresh with just the right amount of spice and crunch. Really refreshing salad to start and compliment the other flavours of the main dishes. Beef Red curry - An amazing creamy coconut and spicy taste. Not too spicy and beef perfectly cooked. If you want more spice go for the Lamb Mussaman. Thai Noodle soup with Duck - A more subtle dish for those who like it mild and not spicy. We had the duck and was again cooked to perfection. Stir-fried Morning Glory - Morning glory crunchy and with the right amount of fresh garlic. Banana Fritter with coconut ice cream - I am no fan of coconut other than in perfumes (love the smell as I do with coffee but I don’t drink coffee) but in some cases it’s just right amount of flavour and in this case it was perfect and compliments the banana fritter so worth a try. Thai Coconut Roll [Warm coconut filled pancake served with coconut ice cream and honey] - One of Yum Yum’s signature dishes. As this is served with the same excellent coconut ice cream I prefer this dish as the pancake was freshly made. What an amazing experience and with a great menu for drinks and food as well as the ambience and authenticity I will be coming back. There is also a great value lunch express menu and various vegetarian menu options available that means everyone will be catered for. Portion sizes are all sharing portions. So be ready for a doggy bag or two.

We booked a table for 6 but when the day came there was only 3 of us but they had no problem and found us a nice table even when we had a disabled person with us. The staff were friendly and the restaurant itself is nice to be in. The food was tasty and came quite quickly too I have been here 4 times over the last decade or more and I’ve never had an issue I’m sure I’ll be here again!

Yum Yum Thai truly exceeded my expectations! Went for my wife birthday. The Thai food was absolutely delicious, with the Mango Sticky Rice being a standout – a perfect finale to the meal. Generous portions and reasonable prices made it an even better value, considering the high quality of the dishes. The customer service was top-notch by Turzo p contributing to a wonderful dining experience overall. I highly recommend Yum Yum Thai for its exceptional food, great value, and outstanding service! Food was halal which was a bonus.

✨ Where Thai elegance meets London charm Yum Yum Thai isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a journey for your senses.✨ From the moment you walk into this Stoke Newington gem, you’re greeted with genuine smiles and hospitality that’s top-notch. The place is a visual treat — a glamorous Georgian building split into distinct moods: traditional Thai wooden house seating, a chic lounge bar, a peaceful garden terrace, and even a hidden Orchid Lounge for those intimate gatherings. ⸻ Starters that set the tone • Crispy Beef – Oh, this one was too good! Perfectly crunchy on the outside, tender inside, paired with an in-house sauce that takes it up a notch. • Grilled King Prawns – Juicy, smoky, and absolutely bang on. A seafood lover’s dream. • Fresh Thai Spring Rolls – Light, fresh, and beautifully refreshing — the calm before the flavour storm. 🌟 Follow @cravetrelldiaries for more honest and detailed food reviews that take you beyond the plate. 🌟 ⸻ Mains to remember • Thai Jollof Rice – A surprising twist! Aromatic, flavour-rich, and hearty. • Crispy Boneless Sea Bass with Papaya Salad – Crisp skin, flaky fish, and tangy papaya freshness — the textures here are unreal. • Thai Jasmine Rice – Soft, fragrant, and the perfect partner to bolder dishes. • Spicy Noodles with Vegetables – Bursting with colour, heat, and flavour — every bite hits. • Chicken Curry – Creamy, aromatic, and soul-hugging. A Thai classic done right. ⸻ Sweet endings • Mango with Sticky Rice – Fresh, ripe mango with coconut-infused sticky rice. Pure, tropical bliss. • Banana Fritters with Coconut Ice Cream – Crispy on the outside, soft inside, with cool, creamy coconut ice cream — comfort in every bite. Coconut Ice Cream with Wafers – Oh, this was too good, I say you! Creamy, rich coconut flavour, sitting on crisp wafers that added the perfect crunch. The grand finale Ended with a Karak Chai that was nothing short of mind-blowing — warm, spiced, and perfectly brewed.

This place is lovely! The décor, the welcome...it's just a real treat. It is a little pricey but you are getting the whole experience and the cocktails are SERIOUS! They do have a lunchtime menu which is surprisingly delicious and a really good deal - a starter and a main for a tenner! Great!! Update: Nothing has changed! This place is still just so beautiful ❤️ Aaaaaand.....2 for 2 cocktails on a Sunday!?!! ALL DAY?? GET IN!!!

Owned by a beautiful couple, who actually care about hospitality and meaningful conversation, which left our family feeling warm and invited (not something you always find in London) The Tom Khar Chicken was perfect, cannot be faulted and tasted very authentic. All of the starters tasted delicious. The Thai iced teas were also very good. Pineapple fried rice didn’t taste as authentic although was very tasty nevertheless. A nice and ambient atmosphere and they are able to cater to your needs. Also beautiful art on the walls.

Found out this restaurant recently. Pretty authentic Thai restaurant in east London for sure. Ordered fish cake for starter and the fish meat included pretty filling to start with. Fried pineapple rice was definitely something flavourful and cooked perfection. The stir fry chicken with basil did not smell well but could taste the spicy ness of it as I have asked chef to make it spicy. The green curry was excellent too to go well with the dishes. Overall nice restaurant to come. Though dessert was expecting mango sticky rice but they didn’t have it here.

My friend and I were just passing by on a Wednesday evening and got attracted by the lovely exterior Thai style of the building. We sat outside and enjoyed a few cocktails during their happy hour! The atmosphere was great and all the team members extremely kind and friendly that we decided to stay longer and have dinner. The inside of the restaurant was very well curated and welcoming with colourful paints made by one of the lady who was working there. The menu was large and with a lot of different choices. We went for a mix platter to start, dim sum , duck in special sauce and green curry, accompanied with a bottle of Chardonnay. We found every dish delicious and so decided to try also theirs hot chocolate fondant and fried bananas. I would absolutely recommend this place, great for only drinks or a fully dinner! A big thanks to the staff who has been incredibly friendly and really made our night! You’ll see us again 😊

Spacious Thai restaurant serving yummy dishes under the dimmed cosy atmosphere. Staff welcomed us very nicely even though they were busy and we had no booking. Lamb Massaman curry was delicious, very well prepared meat, soft and juicy. Excellent Tom Kha Gai soup.👌

I totally recommend this place 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. Been 3 times and each time was up to my expectations. The food is tasty, full of flavour, cocktails are lovely and nice portions are being served. The atmosphere and decor is also included in my 5 stars. I have always been seated at the Thai style table by the little fish pond which I love. The staff is friendly giving good recommendations and the service is also good as I never have to wait for very long to get the food. In terms of price, it is reasonable and for me does reflect the value for money

We had a group of mixed food preferences sharing a dinner at Thai Restaurant Yum Yum in Stoke Newington. It’s a rambling establishment with several different seating styles in a beautiful late Queen Anne’s (English Baroque if architecture is your yam) style building (circa 1712). They have paid great attention to the decor as well as the menu. The ingredients are fresh and options change with seasonal availability. There is a dedicated Gluten-free menu and both vegetarian and vegan meals are marked. There isn’t currently a vegan option on the dessert menu, but they have committed to adding one. A range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are on offer. I was thrilled with my vegan stir fried vegetables with added tofu; all elements were perfectly cooked and flavoured. The watermelon juice was an unusual treat and deliciously refreshing. There are a handful of other vegan options and I would definitely also order the same meal again. The gluten-free, vegetarian and carnivore diners all had high praise for their selections. We opted for the sunken seating which accommodates up to six in a cosy conversation friendly configuration. I took a stroll and noted a variety of different zones with tasteful and consistent atmospheres throughout. The owner was happy to proudly give a little background to the restaurant; they were excited to recall being on MasterChef twice and The F Word with Gordon Ramsay in 2010. After 43 years in the restaurant business they are clearly still determined to provide a quality dining experience stating a business philosophy that chooses customer satisfaction over expansion.

We recently went to YumYum for dinner and it was a lovely time. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. They have lots of gluten-free options. What really made the visit special though was when my wife's soup arrived and she realized that it had a type of mushroom to which she's intolerant in it. It was our fault that we forgot to ask the type of mushroom, but the chef came out and when we said she couldn't eat her soup they didn't blame us, the chef just said, 'no problem, I'll make you another soup without mushrooms.' It was such a heartwarming kindness to have them treat allergies with compassion and care. They put in extra work to make sure that we could enjoy their delicious food and it was much appreciated.

Nice decor and atmosphere. Large menu selection. The portions were a bit on the small side. The food was tasty. I got a fried squid main meal but it was the size of a starter.

Really wonderful customer service! Even allowed me to pray and had a prayer mat for me. Halal food and staff were wonderful. All the starters were to die for the Thai tea was superb and fresh. The happy hour mocktails were so good. The sticky mango rice was yum. The mains were ok not as good as the starters

Really nice place, you feel like you are in Thailand, the waitresses are kind and polite. Everything was beautiful, some details to be fixed (all just noticeable from other restaurant owner's eyes ). The food was delicious. The cover of the table should be in fabric instead of paper, the service has to match with the prices the food. Price x person range of 45 /50.

I came here for my work Christmas dinner. The building looks wonderful all lit up at night. There is alfresco dining before you go through the main entrance. Once you get through the the door, there's more seating and the bar / reception area. When I was taken through to our table, I was amazed at how much space there was. There's an area where you can sit and eat with your legs crossed. The place is beautifully decorated and the ambience was quiet good. Being a Friday evening and Christmas, there were groups celebrating birthdays etc. The staff seemed polite and welcoming and the food was generally delicious, I really enjoyed the freshly made sauces that accompanied the starters. Now, there was a dispute raised between one of my colleagues and the staff about some fish. It wasn't clear to everyone that the Christmas menu we opted for was for sharing and the description about one of the main meals (fillet of seabass in a curry) didn't quite ring true. I don't think it was misleading, but it did convey a piece of fish fillet rather than it being more a fillet that had been stewed in the curry. Most of us were full up on what was given. Overall, it was a nice experience and I would be happy to dine there again.

I really liked the pad Thai and some of their appetisers. The chicken satay was a bit dry though but the cocktails were nice!

J
Jane Spadigam

Such an interesting experience - there’s a variety of seating options - I found this really funny because you can sit on the floor but they have the provision where it sinks into the floor so you’re comfortable. WILD ! They also have a happy hour which was one of the main reasons we visited. The staff were super friendly and the decor was beautiful. I ordered the three sauce fish - which was not my favourite Thai dish ever, my friend had the pad Thai which she recommends.

We had a large party of over 20 people so we had the side room to ourselves. Service getting drinks was a bit slow but once the staff got going, service improved and the food platters we ordered arrived quickly. The food was really good, it was Happy Hour so the cocktails were cheaper so we had a great evening. There is a small car pay & display menu at the back which is free after 7pm.

Affectionately known as Yum Yums restaurant, it's a family favourite & we go here often as it's good value & local. Suitable for holding parties and celebrations, so the noise levels can get a bit loud at times but that comes with huge gatherings. There's an outdoor seating area that's perfect for summer and a bar area that's good to have some drinks and mingle if you don't want to eat in. The Thai food is of a good standard, whether eating from the set or A La Carte menus. Service can be a bit hit & miss, you may have to gently remind the staff that you are still waiting for something from your order. Can highly recommend the mixed & seafood sharing platters, Mussaman curry lamb, Thai green prawn curry and Whole Sea Bass. Sides are of a good standard too. Don't miss happy hour as the 2 for 1 cocktails offer a great selection and an added bonus for your bookings. Mocktails are also available!

Easy to find. Well, the Uber driver dropped us right in front. Inside, we were immediately ushered to our table. Service is lightning fast. Upon giving your orders, food will be brought to you in less than 20 minutes. Super friendly - too generous with the smiles and greetings, sometimes I feel overwhelmed and think they’re fake. Food was delicious though and prices are reasonable. I had the prawn noodles and I loved it. The portions are also just right, anyone can finish them off without stuffing themselves. It being a weekday, not many people so dining experience was overall relaxed. One star off because my seat was full of rice so had to dust them off. They should check that the seats are clean as well before assigning a table to diners. Will not mind returning though.

Food was excellent, but not Christmassy. Lots of lovely stuff, battered cod was delish, masuman curry was lovely, staff coped well with a party of 20 who were late arriving. Works Christmas do, a tad overpriced (in my opinion) but I was OK with that.

Delicious Thai food. Had a brilliant massaman curry with chicken. The chicken was so tender and slow roasted. Lovely! The veggie sesame toast was also great. Service was ok. The building was very cool and huge. I’ll go again if passing!

Now I can’t complain about the cocktails as we came on a Wednesday it was BOGOF for the whole evening. The food on the other hand was not the best. Calamari and fish cakes were overdone. They were brought out first by the time the chips come the other food was cold. Haven’t been Yum Yum in years and so I had high expectations as the food was once really nice. Had to really force ourselves to finish the food and still left a good amount, The platter was okay though not too much complaint about that. We did share that we wasn’t too happy but no further action was taken to rectify the problem.

The last time I went to YumYum was probably 8-10 years ago. The menu hasn’t changed but then produce just doesn’t seem as good as it used to be. The atmosphere is nice, the service is great but the food and drinks are average.

First time trying Yum Yum in Stoke Newington in May 2025. My friends often recommend it, so I was really looking forward to finally visiting. We came after an escape room on Saturday afternoon, and I was glad to see they open for lunch on weekends. The restaurant itself is spacious and stylish, with a lovely outdoor area that must be great in warmer months. Inside, there are plenty of tables and even a space at the back that looks ideal for group gatherings. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, which I really appreciated. We ordered a few starters (money bags, prawn toast, and pumpkin & sweet corn cakes), which were crispy and enjoyable — definitely my favourite part of the meal. For my main, I tried the Pad Woon Sen Ta Ray (mung bean glass noodles with seafood). I liked that it was something different from the usual pad Thai, and the variety of seafood and veg was good, but unfortunately it was much saltier than expected. Drinks were decent value during happy hour, though my mocktail had a lot of ice so felt a little watered down. I also ordered mango sticky rice to go — nicely presented but a small portion for the price. The biggest downside for me was the basement toilets. The smell as I walked downstairs was very strong and quite off-putting, especially as it’s close to the lounge area. Thankfully it wasn’t noticeable in the main dining space, but it did take away from the overall experience. Overall, Yum Yum has a lot going for it — great service, plenty of space, and an attractive setting. But the food and the facilities didn’t quite live up to the high expectations I had based on my friends’ recommendations. Hopefully these are things that can be improved, as I’d like to give it another try in future.

Rice was slightly undercooked, I had a Thai Red Curry 🍛, flavours were there but food was just missing a little kick 🦵🏼, both me and my friend had to add salt for more flavour. 4.2 out of 10.... Only thing that's don't it for me is the atmosphere.

D
Diddy 92x

Order sweet and sour chicken and egged fried rice. Everything was cold and didn’t look or taste like it was cooked the day. The sweat and sour looked like vomit. I tried to eat it as I didn’t want to waste money but it also tasted like vomit. Soggy and weird looking colour. The worse Thai food I’ve tasted in any country. People from Thailand would be disappointed if they came here. 0/10.

R
Raluca Ivanuta

It is impossible to eat the food I received. I tried to taste it, but it was completely flavorless. I ordered Tom Yum — a soup that is supposed to be an explosion of flavors — but what I got tasted like dishwater. The Pad Thai was below average, to say the least. I had to order different food because I simply couldn’t eat this. They also charge a high delivery fee and somehow still have good reviews — I honestly don’t understand why. On top of everything, I requested cutlery and didn’t even receive a single napkin. Avoid this place.

M
Michelle Court

I ordered from Uber eats - beef in oyster sauce and egg fried rice. One of the worst meals I’ve ever had. They were both packaged like ready meals and tasted like it too. The beef dish tasted like a horrible roast dinner in a weird gravy with critically overcooked beef that was like leather and the egg fried rice was overcooked, yellow as hell egg chunky bits in overcooked white rice with no seasoning. I ended up giving it to my cat but even my cat couldn’t stomach it.

Made a Birthday reservation on Friday 09 February for today, 12th. Explained on the telephone about partner needing to be gluten free. The chap on the phone went to quite some length explaining they had a team of chefs that will cook whatever was desired minus the gluten ingredients, very impressed. On arrival they had no record of the reservation. Hmm. Waiter arrives, I reiterate the gluten requirement, the blunt bald 'Indian' waiter said there were a few items only, that were GF. As I start to remind him of my conversation I had on making the reservation, he walks away. Along came a Thai looking lady. I just was so irritated by this time, I did not want to take any of their names. So this lady told me the same as the person originally had on the telephone when I first made my reservation, that they could cook anything from fresh and gluten free. Excellent. So then she walks away. Along comes the 'Punjabi' bald waiter again. The Thai lady behind him. He again states the few items available gluten free. What a frickin carry on, you morons! Get your s%&t together why don't you! The service - I would send the lot of them to Rwanda on the first plane out. The food - mediocre to zero - tasted nothing like the Thai food I had experienced in Thailand. Have a good look at the picture of the 4 sauces - filthy; yet shamelessly put onto the table! There was a ' plasticky' taste to the food. Had the satay been defrosted recently and cooked? Nothing was fresh about their food! The service charge had to come off. A sham of a place, truly, you guys need to be ashamed of yourselves! O people go somewhere else, this place is a bastardised establishment; simply ripping you off. Save yourselves. Alarm bells should have rang sooner on seeing 'Indians' in the place. They have done to Thai food what they have to their own food in this country. Yuck! Yuck! S%^!HOLE.
