We had such a wonderful experience thanks to our waiter. Fernando was incredibly attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. We also highly recommend Downtown Ramen. We will definitely be coming back!
Lots of flavor. I went with level 2 for “numbness” and “spiciness”. I will often order spicy ramen and get a mild sweat. IMO level 2 was perfect. You can always add more spice. The gyoza and chicken karaage were both very good appetizers. I was very satisfied with the meal. Pricing is fair considering the location it matches the surrounding restaurants. Give em a try.
Our server Fernando was fantastic! A mosquito flew into my beer and he replaced it immediately. And the food was amazing! I've been here several times and the food and service are always top notch.
Service is always fast here. We go basically once a month because no where else do we get this mala spice along with the noodle quality. The noodles are thin, cooked to the perfect texture where it absorbed the soup but still has great texture.
I have to say the soup was off the hook great flavor the fried chicken was even better the wontons were very big and juicy 🔥🔥
I ordered the tantanmen with soup at Killer Noodle Tsujita, and it was a fantastic experience. The broth struck a great balance between heat and flavor spicy enough to excite the palate but still full of depth and umami. The roasted notes of peanuts and garlic added richness and aroma, giving the dish a wonderful complexity that made me want to return right away. One of the best features here is the ability to adjust the spice level on a six-point scale, ranging from mild to extremely fiery, so everyone can find their comfort zone. In addition, they offer vegetarian-friendly options, making the restaurant accessible to a wider range of guests. The interior is bold with its red décor, creating a lively and energetic feel. The dining area is fairly spacious, though some seating shows signs of wear, such as torn upholstery, which was slightly disappointing. Still, the overall atmosphere is casual and approachable, and it feels perfectly comfortable for solo diners you can sit at the counter and enjoy your noodles without any fuss. Overall, Killer Noodle Tsujita is absolutely worth visiting when you crave tantanmen in Los Angeles. With its flavorful broth, customizable spice levels, vegetarian choices, and relaxed setting, it’s a spot I will gladly return to.
Great place for spicy and mala noodles! No wait for Wednesday lunch. Service was fast and didn’t have to wait long for food to come out. Came for the Naruto collab which offered some speciality dishes alongside their original menu.
Our experience at Killer Noodle was fantastic! Our waiter was great—kind, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the menu and how to order, which made it so much easier to choose. The atmosphere was lively and fun; it was a little loud at times, but we could still carry on a conversation without a problem. Overall, the food, service, and vibe made for a great visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!
July 2025 update The Baseline: For a ramen restaurant the noodles must be fresh, cooked with consistency in firmness, broth must be tasty with good body, accompaniment additions must match with the style, and the plating must work for the ramen presentation/function. Food: Still my top ramen place in Los Angeles. My appetite gets killed at Killer Noodle! Tokyo Style ramen with the thick rich broth and the noodles are so well made. They just grab the sauce and makes it cling to them. My friend had the White Mayo and tried my Tokyo and he will be headed for Japan in his food ordering in the future. The White Mayo is still a great choice though. Service: Good service when we came and we did not have to wait much for anything. Ambiance: With the owners fixing up their Tsujita sister store I hope Killer Noodle gets her update too, but not at the cost of missing out on my Ramen. Still it is clean and comfortable but there are some needs for updates in the restaurant. Original Review: The Baseline: For a ramen restaurant the noodles must be fresh, cooked with consistency in firmness, broth must be tasty with good body, accompaniment additions must match with the style, and the plating must work for the ramen presentation/function. Food: Five stars for broth and noodles. Four stars for the add ins and extra dishes. Tokyo style beats Downtown style in my opinion because the body of the broth isn’t competing with extra vinegar. The base bowl of ramen is about a respectable $18 so add one will kick up the cost. Since measuring you numbness/spice levels is stirred into the base cost and the base ingredients is all you need the ramen is a five star dish. Service: If it gets busy then wait staff are busy. You will have to flag down your server so expect this in evening service. Lunch will be more tame and enjoyable when it comes to service. Water decanter chilled on the table lets me control my own water glass. Atmosphere: Killer Noodle is well decorated and has a consistent style. The seats are comfortable and the tables are well situated with a good amount of eating area. The outdoor patio has heating lamp so you will be okay outside in the winter.
Sawtelle neighborood is a wonderful place, and this ramen restaurant fits right in. We had a great moment lunching outside on the terrace. Their tan tan mien is absolutely delicious, spiced on order so you can choose from mild to super hot. Fresh and tasty. Nice decoration. $20 per person for the area is fine. We'll go back to try their other specialties.
Ordered the tokyo chicken broth with spice and numbness level - 5. The spice was absolutely correct this time because the first time when I had gone there, it was not too spicy. Also I forgot my hat in the restaurant but they had kept in the lost and found when I went back to collect it the next day. Good Service and Cleanliness in the restaurant.
First I don't like spicy food but I like peanut sauce. This restaurant have both and really good. The noodle was also not mussy. I had tokyo style without soup which very good and really tasty. The noodle also thick which I like it. The original with soup + 3 level spicy (normal) it's not really spicy and the soup also delicious and smell good but the noodle is bit thin, the The Gyoza also big fat and full of meat, the skin soft and thin. This place always hits the spot if you're craving spicy noodles. I can only speak for the ramen though because that's what I usually order... but honestly everything on the menu looks delicious. I usually get Spicy level 4 and it's borderline tolerable with a kick. Your ears, mouth, and tummy will tingle! And your nose will get runny so one minor thing I wish they would invest in are thicker napkins lol
Good ramen place, but I’d suggest ordering normal menu items. The spicy dan dan noodles were rather sickening and filling rather quickly, leaving me unable to finish. The service is quite slow, but the place is great and spacious for hangouts compared to other restaurants in Sawtelle Japantown.
Big portion and nicely flavored, spice level was exactly how I imagined it to be. Staffs made me feel rushed though because they came over and asked me immediately if I were ready right when I just sat down.
I thought the food was pretty good and unique tasting with the peanut butter. The atmosphere was also very aesthetically pleasing. I had the Dry Tokyo Dan Dan Level 2, and although I usually don't do too well with spice, I thought it was really flavorful while being very balanced! The only critique I have is that the noodles were a little too salty for me.
Boy! Haven’t seen a noodle spot that has this much traffic in a while. My friend planned her going away get-together for 10 people here and the spot was fully packed. We and other people how had meet-ups planned here had to write out names in a notepad so that they could provide us with a table to sit when it was available. Anyway, we eventually got a table and gate serving us our individual meals, I know why lots of people go here. When I saw the big noodle bowl served to my friends, I knew I couldn’t even finish half of it so I ordered for something smaller Fried chicken and spicy fries which rated really delish
We got the Tokyo style with soup at level 1 and it was good. Not spicy and enjoyed the peanut buttery taste. Would probably try the standard spice level (3) next time. The chicken was divine! They were huge pieces and the sauces that came with it were so gas. Went at 1:30 and we had about 15 minute wait so not too bad.
Soo yummy! The sesame and peanut notes in the Tokyo style was great! I got level 1 numbing and level 3 spice (as I don’t love the numbing flavor). Food was hot and fresh but service was a bit slow—but they were packed so it wasn’t a big deal! Chicken karage was well seasoned and crispy (ginger dipping sauce was delightful). The original style ramen is vegetarian friendly and was surprisingly flavorful for how light it was.

Let me start by saying I love all the Tsujuta restaurants. This has a fun modern vibe to it. Really enjoyed the white mapo noodles here! Service was ok.

This ramen restaurant doesn't have the typical Japanese Ramen choices. They are basically Chinese inspired noodle dishes. They are good if that's what you are looking for. Otherwise, you will be disappointed. The takoyaki was pretty good. Also, gratuities calculation is based on the total, including the sales tax.

For how much people raved about this place, my disappointment was great. Took 10~15 minutes for them to bring us water or take our order since we’ve been seated; and we were the ones who had to flag them down. They continuously brought us the wrong dish, which were for some other table… then again, we had to get up and make our way to the cashier for them to let us pay for our meal. Having lot of customers is fine as long as you can handle it… but when you cant, it becomes a frustrating experience for the customer. Food itself is okay, but nothing that matches up to the hype.
