Sophia’s is such a special place. Sophia and her staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, and you can feel it the second you walk in. Everything is homemade and seriously delicious. The roast beef sandwich with the chicken pastina soup was perfect, and the ham special was amazing too. You can tell how much care goes into the food and the overall vibe. You can’t beat the live music while sitting outside in the summer!! It’s BYOB which is always a plus! Truly one of those places you keep coming back to. I can’t recommend Sophia and the beautiful place she’s poured her heart and soul into over the years enough!

Everything on the menu is fabulous and they're very accommodating to allergies or vegetarian requests. Service can be a little slow - but everything is made upon being ordered & fresh, so wait times are to be expected.

We had an AMAZING brunch this past weekend. This was a bit of a last minute decision for us, so we didn't have a reservation, but Sophia got us a table. Everyone was incredibly friendly and kind while we were there, from warm greetings when we walked in to friendly conversation. I also cannot say enough good things about the food, it was phenomenal. The quiche had the most amazing texture, the pastina was some of the best soup I've ever had, my boyfriend loved his omelette and said it was a great ratio of egg to filling. It was hard to pick what to eat because the menu had so many delicious sounding options. It definitely gets busy, we saw the tail end of Sunday brunch and we were still seeing food fly out the window at 1:15. The food is well worth the wait make a reservation!! We will definitely be coming back soon

There's no better BYO in this part of Mechanicsburg than Sophia's. The food quality is incredible, as Sophia prides herself on quality ingredients -- everything is always fresh. Her menu offers a diverse selection that caters to a wide range of tastes. Our personal favorites are the coconut shrimp, gluten-free BBQ chicken pizza, the Sloppy Joe special, and at brunch, I love the Monte Cristo sandwich! Sophia is also the sweetest person and will accommodate any need -- we love this place and enjoy eating here almost weekly!

Absolutely love the atmosphere, decor, and staff..... chefs cook with passion.... it's in the flavor... sat at a 2top table in front of register... would absolutely recommend 👌

This was my first time visiting this place, and I was truly impressed! The food was delicious with excellent quality and freshness. The customer service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and really made me feel welcome. The atmosphere was calm and cozy, perfect for relaxing or enjoying a meal with friends. I’d highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience. Can’t wait to come back!

Sophia's was a breath of fresh air! Great atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. Everyone was pleasant and very helpful. Plate presentation was very nice. Upscale feel with very reasonable pricing. The coconut 🍤 were amazing with the apricot sauce on the side. They are also BYOB, so feel free to bring your own adult beverage.

We had a great brunch at Sophia's at Walden. After arriving around 1pm on a Sunday, the restaurant was packed but we only had a 5-10 minute wait without a reservation. We parked on the street, which allows for three hours free parking, after finding this restaurant unexpectedly nestled in the Walden neighborhood in Mechanicsburg, PA. The highlight of our meal was the blacked salmon brunch special that's described as "blackened salmon over cajun spiced rice laced with chicken and sausage topped with a sunny side egg." It cost $17 but was worth it. We also got coffee with refills and the $12 cinnamon roll pancakes with turkey sausage, which was tasty and sweet. Service was exceptionally good too from our hostess to our waitress

We came here with my work for a holiday party in December and really enjoyed our meal. We knew we wanted to come back to try more menu items that weren’t pre-fix from the holiday party. I had the red beet salad and my husband had a burger tonight. All were delicious! We had the Shephards pie at the holiday party that was excellent.

From the first moment of walking through the door, until you leave the staff is smiling and very courteous. Very nice ambience for dinner. Gave the waitress a choice to pick for dinner. I was served the chicken parmesan and wow did it hit every check mark. I did not have enough room for dessert but will most definitely be back to try my other options and dessert.

My wife and I went on a Friday evening and it was very nice. Our waiter Ashley was great and the food was awesome. Great atmosphere for a small group or family and it's BYOB. We will be returning!

The neighbor is super cute, almost a utopian vibe. There is side lateral parking lot spots, I was here on a Saturday morning and enough spaces available but I hear Sunday brunch time this places gets busy. The service is fast, the cashier was straight to the point not rude but just straight to the point kind a thing. A lot of good food options. I got the broccoli quiche and beet root salad and they were delicious, specially the salad. The chai was also very good, less spicy than usual chais but very good too. Outdoor or inside seating options. Two full meals with a two iced drinks for about $40.

Always enjoy Sofia's. A couple vegetarian and pescatarian options for brunch, and they happily allow substitutions. Our waitress Georgia was quite pleasant and attentive, and did a fantastic job. Plus love that you can now reserve through Open Table...great addition!

I got a beet salad and the coconut shrimp, both were gluten free. First time I have been able to have coconut shrimp in over 17 years. They were huge and I could have just eaten those for my meal. Definitely recommend!

Sophia's at Walden is a true dining gem that stands out for both its exceptional food and personal touch. The owner's constant presence and genuine warmth set the tone for the entire experience, creating an atmosphere where you feel less like a customer and more like a welcomed guest. The staff follows her lead, delivering service that's attentive without being intrusive. But let's talk about their brunch – because oh my, what a brunch it is! Their eggs Benedict menu is a revelation, offering creative variations that make choosing just one a delightful challenge. The pancakes and waffles? They're the stuff of weekend dreams, perfectly executed with that ideal balance of fluffy and crisp. While Sophia's shines for special occasions with its elegant ambiance and refined menu, their brunch service alone is worth making the trip to Mechanicsburg. It's the kind of place where you'll find yourself planning your next visit while still finishing your meal. In a town with plenty of dining options, Sophia's at Walden has mastered the art of making every visit feel special, whether you're celebrating a milestone or just treating yourself to a remarkable Sunday brunch.

Got the coconut chicken salad!! Have not had it in a while. It’s delicious!! Just as always. We took the coconut tart home. The crust is so flaky and lovely. What a treat.

Such a fantastic place - delicious food, a beautiful setting, impeccable service and incredible baked goods!. I can't say enough. On your way there, you may feel like you are about to pull up to a friend's house - then you discover that this lovely restaurant is situated in a gorgeous neighborhood, and delivers a warm, friendly atmosphere. Friends and I had a reunion, of sorts, at the place - and felt very welcomed. Oh - you have to try the chickeny-lemony soup....so so so delightful! I wish I could remember the name. No matter what - you cannot go wrong with whatever you choose...play your cards right and you get to meet the owner and mastermind of the place! :) I wish I didn't live 5 states away - otherwise I'd be there every weekend for brunch!

We had a large group (party of 9) on Saturday for an early Mother’s Day lunch. Although some spaces were reserved inside, there was plenty of seating on the patio and a staff member told us to feel free to push tables together. The food was delicious, and the staff were kind and accommodating. My daughter had chocolate chips cookies from two other places that day and rated them along with Sophia’s. She said that Sophia’s chocolate chip cookie (which came with her kid’s meal) comes in first place!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding experience at Sophia’s at Walden! Sophia’s at Walden absolutely blew me away. I ordered the cinnamon bun pancakes with a side of sausage, and I’m not exaggerating when I say they were incredible—warm, perfectly sweet, and just the right kind of indulgent. The sausage was a perfect match, and the coffee was genuinely amazing (which is rare enough that it deserves its own shoutout). But what really makes this place special is the service. Every single person I interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and on top of everything. And then they went above and beyond in a way you don’t see often anymore: after I left, they called to let me know I’d accidentally left my credit card. I had both of my little kids with me and they were asleep in the car, and instead of making me come back in, the owner actually came outside in the freezing cold and handed me my card—without me even having to get out of the car. That level of care is unforgettable. Amazing food, excellent coffee, and truly top-notch, thoughtful service. Sophia’s at Walden has earned a loyal customer for life. I can’t recommend it enough!

Review for Sophia’s at Walden (Mechanicsburg, PA) Sophia’s at Walden is truly a hidden gem in Mechanicsburg! The food was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish was cooked to perfection and full of taste, but the real star of the meal was the carrot cake. It was exceptional — moist, rich, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and spice. Hands down, one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! If you’re in the Mechanicsburg area, do yourself a favor and check out Sophia’s at Walden. From the warm atmosphere to the outstanding food and service, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

We recently worked with Sophia on a catering order for an executive lunch for 50 people, and the experience was absolutely outstanding. The food was incredible—everything from the fresh sandwiches on artisan bread to the pasta salads was a hit. I lost count of how many people came up to tell me how much they enjoyed their lunch. If you're planning a luncheon for a large group, I highly recommend ordering from Sophia's. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Sophia and the entire team were professional, kind, and went above and beyond to make everything seamless. Even the delivery person was courteous and helpful. We will absolutely be ordering from Sophia's again (and again!). Thank you for the over-the-top service and delicious food!

Looking for a new brunch experience we traveled from the East Shore and it was well worth the trip . Sophia's is on point in all categories ! Excellent food with a varied menu - highly recommend the BELT Sandwich and the Eggs Benedict Florentine. Michaela , our server was most pleasant and attentive and the decor and atmosphere are charming. Also we couldn't resist taking home a treat from the bakery case. We will be back !

This place was so quaint and cute! We were just driving through and needed to stop for dinner and we were so glad we ended up here. The vibes were great, we felt like we were on the set of a hallmark movie. They had live music and everyone was so kind. All our food was delicious! I hope i find myself driving through Walden, PA again so we can come back!

The coconut chicken salad was off the charts delicious. I felt like I was eating a Piña Colada. I would go back again just for that.

This sandwich place has great food and super friendly service. The Rachel and Reuben were tasty and the fries and onion rings were hot. While it did take over 20min to get our food, it was worth the wait. We hope to get back sometime when it's warm and we can enjoy their outside dining .

It was a beautiful day for a light lunch and that's what I got at Sophia's. The exterior was light and comforting. There was plenty of seating and it was all very kept and clean. The grilled chicken pesto on focaccia bread was delicious. The bread was light and fluffy. The chicken was juicy and tender. The pesto dressing was balanced nicely. The potato salad was okay. There wasn't much flavor and the potatoes were undercooked. Overall a very nice experience and the employees were very friendly. It was nice to see an all women team in the kitchen.

Amazing food & coffee! Sunday brunch was delicious. Had the special of grilled bacon & brie with fig jam. The coffee was deliciously dark. EDIT: Had lovely brunch here in the last few weeks, but unfortunately the quality of the coffee was much lower than before & weak. Still a recommend on the food! I wish the coffee quality was more consistent.

We came here for brunch on a Sunday in July. We made a reservation online that morning and we arrived a bit early but still were seated promptly. Our server brought us water and menus shortly after we were seated and gave us some time to decide on meals. I had been here once before a few years ago and had the chicken and waffles and it was very good. This time we both ordered the brunch omelet - one with a side salad and one with potatoes. The food was served pretty quickly. The salad was a good. The brunch omelet has mushrooms, caramelized onions and goat cheese. There was a little too much goat cheese for my preference so I did scrape some out of it. I would have liked a little more of the onion but the eggs were good. I tasted a bit of the potatoes and they were a little dry. The omelet was served with toast as well. I had rye and thought that was a little dry too. Our server, Georgia, was friendly and attentive. She made sure we had what we needed at all times. The tables inside are a bit close together at least where we were sitting. It’s not a big dining room so if I would go back I maybe would request to sit outside on the patio. It looks a little more spacious and open out there. I didn’t take any pics inside because I didn’t want to be all up in the tables around us business. From what I understand it does get very busy here so they encourage reservations. If you walk in you may have to wait. We had an ok experience.

The food here is very good at this very popular local lunch and breakfast joint. They have a very inefficient ordering system. Similar to fast food restaurants where you stand on line, order your food and hope to find a seat. On some occasions your food can be ready before you have a place to sit down. Awkward to say the least. With that in mind, the food is worth the risk of not having a table when you need it. The only other note is the Reuben Sandwich is made with a sweet 1000 island dressing and not the typical Russian dressing. But other than that....

We stopped here for breakfast. Service was fast and food was good. I ordered a vanilla latte and French toast with sausage and poached eggs. I wouldn’t say this was the best breakfast, but it wasn’t bad. It was just okay to me. I wasn’t a fan of the sausage and the eggs were okay the French toast was good but nothing special. The latte wasn’t my favorite. It has a different taste to it. I coffee and I enjoy trying different local coffee shops, but this latte wasn’t for me.

The food quality was ok, for me. However, I get to eat at fabulous restaurants and have a very high standard. The restaurant is very nice on the inside and is in a great location. The service was slow. I would come back here, but it would never be my favorite, without changes.

I'm going to start with the atmosphere of Sophia 's. I couldn't really enjoy because it was too cold. I am a chef and a businessman and you always check out your environment as well as your kitchen. They had the AC turned down too low. Everybody was complaining about how cold it was so far as the service is concerned they executed their work perfectly. They knew what to do and they did it. So far as the food is concerned I can only give you three points because by time I got it it was cold and I got the soup and the reason why it was cold was because of the air conditioning being turned down so low. Nobody was checking on the people in the dining area so far as the heat and or the AC is concerned. Would I give it another go? Yeah, I will. But that'll only be one more time. It depends on whether I should return as to are they paying attention to the comfort and the heat control and the AC control of their dining area.

R
Rebecca Green

We got 2 coconut chicken salads. We love Sophia's and drive 30 minutes each way for these salads on a fairly regular basis. Today was very disappointing. The lettuce was brown and bad, and the poppyseed dressing usually has a sweet sour taste , but today was just sour. $39 for 2 salads, we expect great lettuce. Will give it another try, as it usually is very good. But not for a while....

*(Long but worth it if you’re a person of color considering going to this place)* 🚫 Response to Owners Response:We didnt come in at the end of the day, we came on the dot at 12:30. You had zero issues happily serving the several tables around us and outside that came in AFTER we did. They were seated after us, and had their meals politely served on time. You also saw us leaving, you were right in the kitchen but you didnt bother to come out and address us at all or explain the delay for 1.5 hours. I truly hope you reflect on this incident and be better for others, we will certainly not come back or recommend it to anyone who truly values diversity. 🚫 The Owner Sophia is a RACIST, and her utter dismissal and sheer ignorance was an embarrassment for her. If you are A Person Of Color (not white), do NOT come here and waste your money and time. We are brown Muslims, and we had the MOST terrible experience today. My cousin came from Texas and we met her here for brunch. We got here at 12:30, and we left right after 1:50, still hadn’t been served anything except for coffee. We ordered food and waited for over 45 mins and nothing came, meanwhile there were SEVERAL white customers who came in after us and all of them got served their food (and left!) while we just sat there still waiting. The owner Sophia was there, we ended up cancelling the order and leaving bc she didn’t come over once or cared that 5 customers were leaving HER restaurant unserved. The owner said “do they want it or not” when we were leaving, no eye contact or apologies or anything. AVOID THIS PLACE. We grew up in Mechanicsburg and have lived here for 30 years, and her rude behavior should not reflective of this town nor should it be tolerated. She shouldn’t be allowed to be a business owner if she can’t be inclusive and respectful to ALL. We have never walked out of an establishment bc we felt discriminated against here. This woman does not earn the right to have her name on a building of public place of customer service. The neighborhood of Walden should consider how acceptable it is to have a business owner that can’t accept diversity in their neighborhood (which btw was diverse). Our server Kris was very nice but she also doesn’t deserve to work for a place like that. We will be reporting her behavior further as well, that’s how terrible it was. She had ample time in the near 1.5 hours we were sitting there to negate her racism and sheer ignorance and made conscious choice not to. If I could give zero to negative stars, I would. We ended up going to Dalicia Reatorante and Bakery in Mechanicsburg, the food was delicious and the service was pleasant and not-racist. Dalicia’s cakes are beyond amazing, go there instead. Stop spending your hard earned money at racist establishments or working for racist people in 2024.

Went for a book club meeting. First let me say the employees under Sophie are very sweet and kind. Sophie on the other hand was a monster from the get go. Her accommodations foe us was putting small 2 person table between our 2 full tables. On phone she explained our tables would beside each other but not pushed together which would of been no problem, that didnt happen. I pointed to others in a big group and she said "well they reserved months ago" we were deserved in advance also ans was told BY HER we would be BESIDE each other. Never once saw the woman smile as she was playing hostess...not once, at anyone. She has a very "Bitchy" attitude. I ended up sitting beside a young lady new to the club. She had mentioned to me she wanted to join up but had a previous experience with Sophie aa well and knowing others that out of all their experiences the top number 1 and maybe the only 1 complaint was Sophie's attitude and the way she treats people in person as well as on the phone. I worked in retail just about all my 60 some years and can't even imagine ever even coming across someone treating their patrons like she does. Needless to say we will not be going back there EVER! I hope her employees find a place they can do their job and be appreciated and treated with respect if she treats her employees like her patrons. My advice " put a smile on your face and rethink how you talk to people Soohie. I gave 4 stars but that's for her employees.
