We visited this place for lunch. We walked in and was easily accommodated on the outside seating, despite being sort of a cold day the space was comfortable due to the provided heaters. We were able to fully enjoy the lake view. Our Waitress was very friendly and always made herself available. I loved how neat and welcoming the staff was. Food was very good. Out of everything we tasted I really enjoyed the gumbo, and baked oysters. My daughter and her friend said the pasta was excellent! They also enjoyed their cocktails and mocktails. Would definitely visit again! Food was reasonably priced. The dessert menu offered some great options. Unfortunately, we were all too stuffed to try. Will try on my next visit.

Great fine dining spot in Shelby Farms. Excellent choice of seafood, shellfish, or steaks. Open kitchen design enables a clear view of the busy chefs. Inside seating is focused on the floor to ceiling windows that face the lake. The booths are the prime option inside. Outdoor seating is under a roof so it's ok rain or shine. Plenty of servers keep the table and drinks freshened up. Service was quick without feeling rushed. (Salads are not included with entrees, order with appetizer if you want them before dinner). Valet available or self park in large lot. Reservations are pretty much required at any busy time. Great meal even on a busy weekend. Zero issues. Party of three for dinner, appetizer, dessert, and drinks about 2 hundred plus tip.

If I could 10 stars, I would. Phenomenal restaurant. Excellent service, friendly staff and they are all very helpful. Atmosphere is comfortable yet elevated. The FOOD… I almost forgot I was in Memphis. Highly recommend the blackened shrimp & Brie appetizer! The surf & turf (broiled oysters with wagyu beef) was delicious as well! Wedge salad is delicious. Ribeye was cooked to perfection. Trout was amazing. Chocolate dessert was great. Coconut crème brûlée is fantastic!

AMAZING service!!! Best service I have received in my life. Entire staff addressed us as sir/madam and everyone was cheerful and helpful. Kindness goes a long way. My server landen was very kind and helpful 🙏 😊 ☀️ The view was ecstatic and the food was excellent. Go try!

Took my wife here for her birthday. The staff were all extremely pleasant and courteous. Our server LANDEN was an absolute treasure, he really made our night special and was the best server we have had the pleasure of dining with. The food was all great, the cocktails were on point, and the scenery/atmosphere was breathtaking. Would highly recommend.

Came here for my 30th birthday dinner with my fiancé. We sat on the patio, it was absolutely stunning. Our server, Landen, was phenomenal. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food was great. We got the shrimp appetizer with french bread- delicious. Also got the sashimi appetizer. I had the redfish entree and my fiancé had the lobster ravioli. Both were great. They brought me a crème brûlée dessert for my bday too :) Super great experience.

Wonderful spot for a date night. If you go, you MUST sit on the patio overlooking the water. Such amazing atmosphere and makes it feel like you are somewhere else entirely. The service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. My boyfriend, who doesn’t care for seafood, LOVED the roasted chicken. I had the crab cakes which were great with very little filler, but the star of my plate was the corn brûlée. We splurged and got two desserts, and both were absolutely worth it, but especially the chocolate pie. So decadent and I can’t stop thinking about it.

The food here was unbelievably delicious! Drinks were good and service was impeccable!! We ate dinner at the bar and out bartender, Kanny, was one of the best we've had in a long time! I couldn't be happier with our last minute choice for date night ❤️

The occasion was my birthday. My first time experiencing this restaurant and I must say I am impressed. From the view, the entrance, the hostess, the atmosphere, the service, the food and the overall experience was phenomenal. Our waitress Harley was Perfect. She was welcoming. Her overall presentation is unforgettable. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and wine listings. We will be back!

Coastal continues to be one of my favorite date spots, consistently offering outstanding food and drinks. These days, I’m more than willing to spend a bit extra for great service—and Coastal delivers. While the host staff can sometimes come across as unwelcoming and rude, the exceptional service from the servers more than makes up for it. The kitchen staff also deserves recognition, as everything we’ve tried has been nothing short of a 10 out of 10.

I like everything here. The food is delicious and the cocktail is also very good. The neat and friendly staff was also nice to see. I will visit you again.

Beautiful view and attentive servers! Was a little confused with the reservation options, but if you reserve pick outdoor seating! It was very cold outside when I visited but there is a glass wall and heaters everywhere that made the space so warm and cozy. Broiled oysters were flavored well (esp the Nola style) and the desserts were so good! Also had the pina colada style cocktail and loved it!!

10/10 experience! The sashimi and red fish jambalaya were phenomenal, steak was cooked to perfection and well seasoned! Everything we had was delicious and we can’t wait to come back to try other menu items! Service was too notch!

Made a reservation for my birthday dinner, I got a complimentary creme brulee 😋 the chocolate covered key lime pie is super delicious too but rich. Service and food was AMAZING! Atmosphere was very nice and upscale but some loud groups surrounding us, the inside restaurant seems quieter than the balcony. GREAT VIEWS of shelby farms. Wagyu filet was so buttery and amazing but the sear was a little salty in my opinion. The clam chowder was good, oysters came w a variety of sauces but I'm not a big fan of oysters haha. Would definitely recommend for a birthday or anniversary dinner!

Had another wonderful visit to Coastal Fish. The staff truly make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door. Abigail was a phenomenal server, talking time to explain specials as well as introduce new cocktail options that hadn't even made the menu yet. Our food was, as always, perfect. Our table of 6 enjoyed oysters, the shrimp and brie dip, beef carpaccio (AMAZING!) along with lobster ravioli, redfish, filet (cooked perfectly) and crab cakes. Everyone was happy and FULL! Do not miss the blueberry bread pudding this summer. It is divine. There are very few restaurants that I would feel comfortable going to with a group of 6, because one will usually sacrifice food or service, but Coastal delivered exceptionally on both.

We eat here whenever we are in Memphis, and we’ve never been disappointed. Every one of the staff acknowledges all the guests as the guests walk by - not necessary but very appreciated. The staff seems glad we are eating there. The food is good and it’s a beautiful place.

Last night was my first time trying Coastal, and as someone both born and raised in New England, and a 20+ year veteran of the restaurant industry, I could not have been more pleased. I had a proper clam chowder cooked with bacon, proper RI calimari with traditional new England fried seafood breading, swordfish cooked to perfection, for the first time since I left New England 10 years ago. I was so impressed with the North Atlantic seafood selection on the menu, and can't wait to come back and try more. Our server, Landon, was wonderful. So attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely be back!

We sat on the patio during sunset - the view was phenomenal, service impeccable- Landon was our server and was top notch! The food was great - we had the scallops, rainbow trout and shrimp and clam linguine - all were made to perfection with appropriate accouterments. Price was reasonable for fine dining. We will definitely be back!

Food was good per usual. The items we ordered for lunch probably didn't emphasize their best menu items. Service was excellent as usual from being greeted at the door on arrival to friendly staff and food arriving hot and right on cue following the previous course. We sat on the patio and were a little hesitant given it was a cold day, but it was a perfect Sunday afternoon lunch with plenty of heaters, a beautiful view of the water, great servers and good food.

Such a nice spot to unexpectedly come upon following a long hike around a lovely attached park (Shelby Farms) during a recent weekend . Restaurant overlooks a massive water lookout area. Received a warm welcome at the front door, by Hadassa Joseph who invited us inside and our seating of choice (being that we were in athletic clothes) was at their expensive comfortable Bar area. Haylie Mills was our bartender and server such a lovely and conscientious worker. She has a terrific knowledge of various drinks. We are new to the area and she was a wealth of knowledge pointing us in the directions of places we are interested in trying out. Actually, the entire service staff in this restaurant are young/engaging and was a pleasure to be around throughout our visit. We enjoyed drinks and delicious home made bowls of soups. Will definitely be around again hopefully soon.

This has became my favorite restaurant near Memphis. The food is so fresh and have yet to have any dish that wasn't delicious. The service is fenomenal, they never leave your water empty and are always on top of checking on you. Environment is higher end so it is a perfect place for any type of celebration. It is pricey, but the price is more than worth it. I never was a fan of raw oysters until I tried them here. Now I get them every time I go. The drinks were also very good. Great staff, great Environment, and great food!

It was my first time to experience Coastal. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this place. Being a vegetarian places usually don't have options, but boy they did. From the salad to when I drove away, loved Coastal, couldn't speak more highly of the Staff, top notch, Hunter exceeded his post. Classy spot. If you haven't experienced Coast Fish Company, do yourself a favor and go!

Best Date Night Experience! We had an exceptional date night here. Our waitress, Annabelle, was absolutely amazing—attentive, friendly, and truly elevated the entire experience. The service was top-notch from start to finish. The food was outstanding and perfectly prepared. We especially enjoyed the broiled oysters, tuna tartare, and scallops. For dessert, the crème brûlée and chocolate pie were both decadent and delicious. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we will definitely be back!

A very nice fine dining restaurant. The service was attentive and excellent. The staff is clearly well trained in fine dining etiquette. We were impressed by the level of service. The food was good - some things were great. Great: - The blue crab claw appetizer. My only complaint is that we ordered it for the table - there were easily 30+ claws - but it came with a single piece of bread. An odd oversight. - The Seabass. Really delicious. Fresh and flaky. The bacon made the dish! - The bananas Foster Bubble Waffle. Delicious. The bananas are poured on table-side. A fantastic way to end the meal. Good: - The Cioppino. Tasty, but under seasoned. Needs work: - The little neck clam linguine. The pasta was over cooked. The dish was under seasoned, and too few clams in the dish. Overall, I would recommend the restaurant. The setting is beautiful and we enjoyed the meal on the whole. It is expensive, but a very nice place to celebrate a special occasion.

My first experience at Coastal was amazing with just a small hiccup. I loved the food and the service. It was amazing. My only issue. We got full after our appetizers so I wanted to take my dinner home. They offered to box up my food. When o got home ready to eat o had nothing but fries in my Togo bag. Just make sure customers get all of their food.

They use their bare fingers to put crackers on your plate but we’ll come back to that. . Coastal has been my wife and I top 5 restaurant since they opened. My favorite dish is the sea bass (8.5/10) and my wife’s has been the lobster ravioli (8/10). Most times, those meals have been consistently good for us. We also have had the Louisiana Redfish (~7 or 8/10), crab cakes (~7.75/10), egg rolls (9/10).. I could go on and on. Most of their dishes are good if you love seafood and you can appreciate culinary art. . The servers have always been great! They’re always attentive and willing to provide recommendations. Your drink glass will stay full and they always have a serve with a smile. . I have NEVER seen the manager checking on tables.. as I have seen in other comparable restaurants. He’s always strolling through the place scrolling on his phone. Mind you, I’ve been here a million times but hey. . Atmosphere is always on point. You cant beat a view of the lake over good food. . Now, back to the crackers. We observed SEVERAL servers retrieve crackers from under the heat lamp with BARE HANDS. They’d walk away, continue serving, briefly look at their phone, retrieve payments, then return back to get more crackers with those same hands. That’s not assisting in controlling communicable diseases I’m sure. Also, if you’ve ever sat at the bar, there’s a really bad gnat problem. . Overall, the sea bass is too good and the servers are too nice for me not to care too much about any of the other stuff but I think they’re leaving have some opportunities for improvement.

Excellent service and lakeside views with an expansive patio dining area that truly transports you somewhere else. Unfortunately the noise on a busy Friday night is cacophonous—definitely not a place for a quiet, intimate dinner. Food overall was good, but the seafood all seemed to be overcooked. Shrimp and risotto should be shrimp and grits. Trout dish was very rich and tasty, but the fish was overcooked. Wedge salads and carpaccio appetizer were wonderful.

This place can be hit or miss but you have to experience it for yourself! I’ve been a few times! The last time we went was on my wedding anniversary & the food was good for the most part. Minimal issues. Our oysters were not cooked the way they have been cooked in the past but they were ok. The steaks however were really good but lobster tail was a bit mushy. Also they have really good Chilean Sea Bass which is a must try! All night we were getting happy anniversary from the staff which speaks to the service! They also took care of the lobster tail issue & gave us complimentary glasses of champagne for our anniversary! Again though it’s hit or miss it’s definitely worth experiencing at least once or twice!

Went there to celebrate wedding anniversary with wife. First time to eat at Coastal Fish and heard good reviews about this restaurant. We were not disappointed. Upon being seated we were greeted by the server and given 2 glasses of complimentary champagne. Alexia who was our server is excellent. She offered quickly to take our picture for the occasion. Wife got the shrimp cocktail and a bowl of gumbo and I a salad and Nola oysters. All good although the oysters were somewhat small in size but tasty. Wife's entree was the crab cakes and contained a generous amount of crab meat. She did love the corn brulee side dish. I got the Surf and Turf consisting of 2 small lobster tails and steak medallions cooked to my specification. Very good entree. Pineapple upside down cake with coconut ice cream was very good. Overall an evening well spent eating at a great restaurant. 06/22/2025 update Went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have been there probably 3 other times for the same thing. Started with shrimp cocktail and got 4 large shrimp. Sometimes there are 5. Would Hope they give colossal shrimp for the price. Got the grilled oysters with the crab meat melt. They were good and the oysters were good sized. Got the North Carolina flounder and it was very good. Wife got her usual Stuff and Turf. Steak cooked to ordered tenderness and the lobster tail was good. Shared the banana Foster bubble waffle with ice cream and it was enjoyable and refreshing. A thing to note was that the AC unit was out or not working efficiently, so got quite hot while dining. And I mean sweating hot. One of the servers came by and gave the guests cold wash cloths to cool off. That was a good thing because it did refresh us to continue the meal. Overall besides the heat it was a great experience. Staff service very good ranging from the hostesses, water attendants, food bearers to the individual waiters and waitresses. Since it was our anniversary they supplied some glasses of champagne on our table. Updated: 01/02/2026 Been here multiple times mostly for special occasions. Today it was for a birthday. Got the Encrusted Yellow Finn Tuna. I feel like it was cooked perfectly for me. The center is tartare but not cool not cold. The vegetable sushi enhanced the meal. Got my usual Nola baked oysters. Wife got the filet and it was cooked as ordered. Waiter and wait staff were good. Sat in the Commodore room which tends to be much less noisy so ambiance was good. Received a mini crème brûlée topped with fresh berries which is complimentary with a birthday.

Lovely place for a date, especially if you manage to get a patio seat by the lake and watch the sunset. Have been here a few times and service has always been excellent. The sashimi was underwhelming, both in portion size and taste. Lobster ravioli was good and our steaks were cooked perfectly.

Overall pretty good! I enjoyed my sides more than I did my entree 😅 I got the crab cakes which were too fishy. I know that’s an odd thing to say about seafood, but it’s the truth! On the other hand, my husband’s redfish was delicious and didn’t have that flavor that I disliked in the crab cakes. Overall, the food was good. I’ll just try something else next time. My drink was good! Pink something (I can’t remember the name) and the service was great.

Had a reservation at 7 for a party of 8 and promptly got sat! Which was great. The place was packed as always. The server was so nice and answered questions. We sat outside it was hot but pleasant. Once the sun set it was a lot better. We had an array of apps. The Shrimp Diavolo was good. The sauce was more sweet than savory but still good. Everybody said their apps were good as well. For entrees we had a couple of different items. I got the Louisiana Red fish. The actual fish was really good but I wasn’t a fan of the pasta jambalaya (maybe the texture) . I wouldn’t get that again. I got a mocktail that was delicious! Overall great experience will be back to try different items

Coastal is a pretty solid place to eat. My only gripe is that, the customer service here is mid, at best. We have dined here several times. The staff is friendly enough, but most of the wait staff lack personality. They are kind of uptight and blah. The food is ok. No real complaints. It’s not bad, but it’s nothing to write home about either. And why don’t they offer Hennessy at the bar? I mean, it IS a bar right?! Most bars carry pretty much every type of spirit. It seems kind of intentional for certain reasons, but I digress.

I will preface this by saying the service was excellent. Our server was incredible and all of the staff is friendly and attentive. The food was not good. I had the Louisiana redfish and it was unseasoned and mediocre at best. The andouille sausage in the “jambalaya” had all of the flavor and consistency of rubber. I can’t comment on the dishes of the rest of my party but no one was commenting on how good their food was, so I’m going to assume similar experiences. For the price this just isn’t worth a visit. Not when there are 20-30 other restaurants in Memphis with MUCH better food for cheaper prices.

For many years now my husband and I have been saying we were going to go here, and never have, choosing other places over this restaurant. Well, our intuition was right. We were invited here for my niece's graduation celebration. While the service was good, the food was not. The oysters were not fresh. There was more meat on those six half shell oysters than there was in the San Francisco Cioppino. It was bland and left me starving (I did not drink the several cups of tomato juice it was in...maybe then I wouldn't starve). The flounder, although drenched in a sauce, was still bland and flavorless. My son said he enjoyed his filet mignon. It appeared to be cooked correctly. The Chilean sea bass was bland. I did hear someone at the table say the lobster ravioli was good. I believe someone said they liked the pork. My thing is, if you are going to be a fish company you should know how to cook fish..... It seemed like the majority of our two tables were full of fish dishes that were bland and boring. Well, we can officially check it off our list. I doubt we'll ever be back by our own choice. Also, to note, sitting outside did have a beautiful view. However, it was so loud and crowded, there's no way I would ever consider this a romantic restaurant. Definitely overrated.

I would say the place has a very nice ambiance and atmosphere overall. It’s pretty and pleasant on the inside and the service is immaculate HOWEVER, the food there is not worth the price like at all bcuz most of the food items that I tried there was extremely under seasoned EXCEPT for the seafood gumbo !! The seafood gumbo was honestly the best thing on the menu. I would literally come back just to order that ONLY ! The other entrees just wasn’t that flavorful but presentation of the meals were great tho too.

We hosted a team dinner there with a guest from Boston. Our team was from the biggest hospital in south. We were made to sit on the patio. The temperature was 98 and the heat factor was 103. There was air conditioning space available and our requests to sit inside were denied. The manager carefully avoided eye contact. Two of my team members had bugs in their water glasses. I guess free protein. The food looked great, but has no flavor. We left most of the food untouched. All food had a generous amount of grease and we could use some of that for our lawn equipment. We were a 6 party team and were given a small table. After we ordered appetizers, we had no space in table: so we had to keep the heavy wooden menu cards on our laps. Some questions.. why were we not advised that there is excessive heat and indoor option would be best. I guess your decisions were made on profit margins rather than customer comfort. If the menu cards are so damn heavy, why don't you make them lighter or give more space on table to keep them. If a midsouth patio is a charm for 98 degree weather. Why don't you have air coolers. Which noble prize physicist advised you that circulating fans will make the place cooler. The entire patio was one big airfryer. For a pricey restaurant, this was hmm...certainly a shame Thanks for an awesome experience. May be it was Shakespeare's midsummer evening dream. The food was a dream and hospitality far from reality.
