Amazing Food, Great atmosphere, and fantastic personality wait staff. And di I mention the food was Amazing!!!
The BEST happy hour in Merced!!!! It was sooo incredible experience. We went here after their renovation & improvement to the bar area. It's wonderful. The drinks were awesome. Billy, our bar tender, was awesome! He's so great. The price and the food are amazing good. This will be the new place for our happy hour destination!!! We had Mule, margarita and pineapple express It's AAA+ experience in all aspects👍👍👍
Recently obtained by new ownership - they have put their own touches on the restaurant (opening it up and redecorating) and have maintained the high quality of service and food. The crab ravioli in pink vodka sauce is my standard go to - this is a dish carried over from the original ownership and it's still excellent. They have a good selection of craft cocktails and and wines. Make sure to ask about the daily specials - they are often very creative and delicious dishes.
Best calamari in Merced, hands down! Great wine selection, good cocktails and beers as well. Fun atmosphere, delicious entrees. Always an enjoyable experience. Great for a date night, night out with friends, or a family dinner. The servers are friendly and great at what they do.
As a vegetarian I felt very taken care of in terms of options off menu. Definitely try the espresso martini. The best I have ever had!
Food was fantastic! We ordered Hitman pizza, it was great balance of flavors and not greasy or burnt. The crab rigatoni was another delicious meal all flavors came kicking though. But the one that really hit the spot was the coconut prawns with the spicy pinapple cause I highly recommend. Staff was the cherry on top to this restaurant. They were fast and very well prepared. Took great care of not just us but all customers. Definitely going to make excuses to come back.
always a wonderful meal when I am in town. Truly the best dinner in Merced.
Unbelievable food, service and atmosphere. I will certainly be back. Take yourself to dinner here and you will not be disappointed. Every single factor was thought of prior to my walking in by the staff here. Really amazing. Did I say delicious? So I had meatballs and minestrone. I could not have been more satisfied. Thank you.
Lovely restaurant in Merced. We ate in the dining room which was a mellow vibe that contrasted the lively bar area at the front. I had the meatball appetizer and a wedge salad. The blue cheese dressing was homemade tasting and excellent. Wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend.
The staff are so nice. Love the food. It's really quite loud, hard to hold a conversation. Nice food and drink menu. Tonight there was a drunk guy who lit up a cigarette and sat down at a not his table. They tried to get him out of the dining room without causing a big scene.
Me and my boyfriend love coming to Bella Luna. It’s a nice place to have dinner, the food is delicious(beet salad and any pizza is my favorite combo) and the service is on point! The owners are the nicest people, and we are always greeted with kindness. Their staff also do a great job! 10/10!!
Very pleased with the service and food! Very friendly and ALL the staff go beyond to make sure your needs are meant. Even the take out is friendly, they always offer a place to sit while you wait (which is rarely).
Easy 10!! ATMOSPHERE, Food and service come easy here! We were passing through and so glad we stop to try this diamond here. Don’t even think twice if you have lo’s- Jose (our waiter) and staff will act like the don’t see the linen tablecloth that your children already soiled and treat them like gold! Jose btw is the best waiter EVER! If you love local history and are an info geek, ask for him. We feel like family now too because of him lol! The owner cares about his business it’s obvious, he is classy and hard working himself and clearly has good taste! They said to try the crab raviolis- My husband loved them! Beet salad (what I had) Delicious! We also order a few pizzas- The fig and gorganzola pizza is honestly really dynamite. It something to order for pickup too! We live out of town so looking forward for the next time we have to make our way back through!!
This was the first time for me and my daughter. We found a gem in downtown of Merced. Good was so fresh and organic with very delicious flavors.
This is a great place to dine. Their pizzas are delicious, and each one can easily serve 2 to 4 people. The best seats are always in the back of the restaurant, so don't let yourself sit in the front. Though it could get pretty pricy, the food and drinks are great.
Classy place. Not rushed. Thoroughly engaged via courteous staff, and lastly, the rib eye ordered was cooked to perfection. Delicious. Next level service. I recommend 👌 with full confidence.
Bella Luna provided a private room for a twenty person dinner. The service, food and atmosphere were all five stars. Everything was delicious. The staff were professional and efficient. The table looked great and so did all the food. Definitely recommend!
Lacey was our server, she did amazing taking care of us and our two young boys. Val was the chef and she did her grandma proud with how amazing the lamb chops were. Every moment was spectacular and the food was absolutely perfect. I cannot convey how fantastic everyone was and how unbelievable the food is. Saying I recommend this establishment is an understatement. You will enjoy this meal.
Well after a long day travelling, booked in to Merced, and then to find a lovely Restaurant with everythiing we needed, delicious food, great atmosphere and the best service by all staff, especially our waiter Joe R , Highly recommend to anyone that is in the town Thankyou
We hosted a corporate holiday party and I can't say enough great things. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. 10 stars for this little gem!
I had a great experience. My sandwich was more than an ordinary deli cut, very tasty. The bar tender, who I believe is the owner, was attentive and polite. The atmosphere was great for a quick lunch or a nice dinner.
The environment and staff are exceptional. I reserved a table ahead of time for my anniversary with a request to be near the window. When we arrived they had the table for 2 reserved with full readiness. There was a very lovely anniversary congratulations card signed by the staff. This was my second visit and both times were completely worth it. Pizza and pasta are delicious. The shrimp appetizer is crunchy but juicy and jalapeno bread is the softest bread like memory foam and you get so much.
Bella Luna is a gem! Run, don't walk, to this restaurant. Merced has had a dearth of good eateries; they come and they go. My whole family is praying this one stays. Please try it! While I was born and raised in Merced, I now live near Palo Alto where there are lots of good options. But 10 family members live in Merced so every opportunity to dine out, as the whole group or in smaller subsets, has led to angst over where to go. Now everyone agrees on and loves Bella Luna. The food is delicious; bay area quality with depth of flavor. Their pizza is the best. I grew up on Pizza Villa which was the best in town (back in the day) and not one pizzeria has been able to replace it - until Bella Luna; we frequently order to go as it's more than worth the drive downtown for pick up. The bar, which is at the entrance, is spacious and well lit. Great bar seating as well as bartops and couch seating; the younger folks like to go there to have a drink. The drink menu is fun and interesting - and delicous - and the bartenders we've met have been welcoming, accessible, and helpful. We've sat in various places within the restaurant and they are all good. There's even a private space for groups. Every server we've had has been professional, upbeat, friendly, and conscientious. They work together well to take care of what's needed at a table; we are thrilled with the high level of service. For a casual restaurant with reasonable prices, it offers an elevated dining experience because the food and drinks are so darn good. When we leave the restaurant, we feel as if our money was well spent. That may be the best endorsement! I highly recommend.
We found this place on our way back home to Elk Grove. I'm so glad we did. They were busy so we sat at the bar. I had the Spicy Angry Cajun Shrimp. This came recommended by Wyatt. This was the most amazing dish! It was so creamy and just the right amount of spice. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. This dish doesn't disappoint. Wyatt was very attentive a great asset to this restaurant. It was a very busy night and he was running around taking care of many patrons but still made us feel special. Great food and Wyatt was amazing!
Bella Luna is where I had my first date with the love of my life 3 years ago. She loved this place and so do I. We have come here several times to eat since. She always loved it. Sadly I lost her to cancer 21 days ago. Thank You Bella Luna for always being good to us and making her life and mine great with memories....
This restaurant is a great find! Everything is homemade. Delicious pastas, sauces, grilled meats, salads & soups. The bartender made me a perfect Manhattan! The service was excellent- personal and timely. This is a very large venue with a beautiful bar & bistro tables as you enter. My husband & I throughly enjoyed our dinner. We’ll stop by again.
I met a friend for lunch and had a great experience. I ordered the hot pastrami sandwich and I have to say that it was probably the best hot pastrami that I have ever had. Our waiter, Wyatt, was excellent. He was spot on with attentive service and was not hovering.
The best dining in town, hands down! Great food and beverage. The customer service is exceptional. The restaurant is clean and well decorated, feels very homey. Their music playlist will have you bopping your head all dinner! This is the place to have the time of your life. Highly recommend it!
After a long day, we decided to eat there. They welcomed us warmly. When we were ready to order they told us that they had a power outage earlier in the day and that the full menu wasn’t available. We still decided to stay and order what was available. The food was very good. Because the full menu wasn’t available, pizza cooks were overloaded, so we needed to wait a bit longer for our food. But the owner Giancarlo and his staff really know how to do business and made sure we didn’t miss anything! Thank you for the night!
Amazing food. Excellent service. Great bartender, and lovely place to eat with either family or friends. Nice owner and staff seem happy at work which means alot. Food never disappoints.
Recently we celebrated our anniversary at Bella Luna. Our dining experience was amazing. The food was excellent as we have come to anticipate and expect. Our evening was also enhanced by Curtis our server and Ananda our hostess. They went out of their way to insure we had a most delightful evening. Great food and wonderful service made for a most memorable anniversary for both of us.
I can’t say enough good things about Bella Luna. The food is consistently fantastic. The crab ravioli and short ribs are absolute must tries! You can tell everything is made with care and quality ingredients. The chiefs really take time and consideration making the specials, I am always excited when they have specials going on. The staff is amazing and are like a family. I admire the atmosphere and culture they have and notice a lot of them have been there a long time. The owners are so kind and they love serving people! I love that they go around greeting people, saying hello, making your experience personal. They care a lot for their staff too. And I have to give a shoutout to the bartenders! They are truly masters of their craft, always friendly and ready with amazing cocktail recommendations. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic or something creative, their drinks never disappoint. The atmosphere is inviting, whether you’re stopping by for a cozy meal or celebrating a special occasion. It’s rare to find a place that feels this genuine, this is a community spot! I can’t recommend it enough!
My boyfriend and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary here, food, waitress, and atmosphere were wonderful.
UPDATE: I have returned to Bella Luna since my first review and it has been a really good experience. I have come in for lunch twice recently and Miranda has waited on hubby and me at the bar top. She's really nice and helpful with any menu/drink questions. She made us feel welcome and this girl does not stop cleaning or setting up her garnishes (very hard worker.) The lucky Lady Cocktail and the Peach Whiskey drink are really tasty. My husband had a bloody Mary and enjoyed it. I'm stuck on their Mariposa Panini and Zuppa Toscana. Their Beet Salad is yummy too. I can't remember the names of my husbands favorite dishes but one is a spicy shrimp pasta dish and a sandwich with Mortadella in it. Our food was delish and fresh. Ambiance is very cool and nice for a date or good times with friends/ family. Will be returning and hope to check out their Market soon. I didn't have time to check it out today.
We had our holiday dinner gathering here last night for the Valley Institute of sustainability, agriculture & technology with UCM and everything was great! Excellent service by Jose, he was attentive and made sure our needs were met for the evening. The private room was setup beautifully for the holiday season which just added to the overall enjoyment of our night. Thank you Giancarlo, Jose and Bella Luna staff.
We had an excellent meal at Bella Luna tonight. Everything from the staff to the meal exceeded our expectations. I had some of the best Chicken Parm I've ever had and I've had it a lot. My wife enjoyed her crab ravioli and we both liked our spumoni for dessert. Highly recommended.
An exceptionally good dining experience! We have eaten here on numerous occasions, but never in the other dining room away from the bar and main dining room. Celebrating our 33rd anniversary, they gave us a great table near the window, and the staff all signed a card that we received once we sat down. Other than a few extra minutes waiting due to how popular and busy it was, the service and food were excellent. It's not a huge menu, just a good one. Food is moderately priced with nice portions and delicious! One of the best dining establishments in Merced.
Always a 5 star experience at Bella Luna 🌛💘 Here I ordered: ♡braised short ribs served over polenta zuppa toscana soup & the bloodiest mary ever❤️🔥😋🫒 Thank you! 🤩
Where do i begin? Giancarlo greeted me with open arms and made me feel like I was apart of the family. The servers were great, very knowledgeable about what's in the dish and what they recommend. I tried almost everything on the menu and they continue to win me over with their special. The fig pizza was my favorite!
I needed a place to host my mother's 90th birthday party. I am very happy that I selected Bella Luna. I traveled 2 hours to Merced and when I arrived, staff was prepared and waiting for us. The room set up was just as we discussed and they were very accommodating when I asked for an extra table to display photos. The wait staff, Sara and Trey, were wonderful to work with and handled our group with ease. We wanted for nothing. Food was delicious!! Everything was well prepared. The short ribs melted in your mouth and the chicken picatta was moist and tender. The foccacia breadsticks and Tuscan meatballs were also a huge hit! Thank you to everyone at Bella Luna for making the day so special and perfect for my mother. ❤️
Amazing service and food!!! Was greeted by the owner upon entering, best table in the place, Joe (Joseph) was perhaps the best waiter i have ever had, always had one eye on myself/date incase I needed anything. Just superb service food price and atmosphere
I came here 10 years ago as a broke college student & the pizza was good. 10 years later, the place has been renovated, the food is stellar, as is their service. I had the crude, with the spicy mezcal drink, followed by the angel pasta, and barely was able to finish the hitman pizza. I’ll definitely be returning — congrats on thriving in Merced!
Randomly decided to eat here for the first time and it ended up being an amazing experience! The shark attack mocktail was so adorable and fun. The portion sizes were decent for the price and all the dishes were beautiful and flavorful. I have tried calamari from multiple places and this place has made the best I have ever tried. We will be coming more often and I highly recommend to at least try it out once.
This place is one of the nicer places downtown, great service, full bar. Great date night. Had the ribeye steak special, pesto salmon, arancini (appetizer), and tiramisu, all with a bottle of red wine. Dinner photos are partially eaten!
What can I say about Bella Luna that locals do not already know? This is for non locals visiting Merced and plan to stop in Merced for lunch or dinner. The quality of their food is amazing. They rotate specials and menu items so that you never tire of their menu, however they do keep some of their most beloved items. Everything from the interior brick wall, to the pub tables at the front of the house near the bar with TV's on the wall, and the regular tables in back with pizza oven - you can choose the vibe you want to experience. You would not be disappointed with your experience at Bella Luna!
In town for ki ki Raina fete... food was pretty good. Meatballs were excellent in my opinion, sauce had a great spice to it. We had salads... the wife had a wedge and i had the caprese. Awesome salads. I had the salmon and pesto and the wife had the Big Tony with shrimp. Salmon was a bit overcooked but flavorful, broccli was undercooked and too young (yellow) and crunchy. The wife enjoyed the shrimp and pasta. All in all not a bad meal. I left very full. Atmosphere is Cafe like a little loud but fun.
What can I say, this was a top 10 experience-- our waiter, Wyatt, was the key. So attentive, personable and gave great recommendations. We had a wonderful time and the food was incredible. The seafood risotto and Rib Eye were our favorites. The desserts were next level. The fig cake is a must! We also loved the mini cannolis. The atmosphere was inviting yet sheik. I'm from the area and it's been nice to see how much Merced has grown 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Beautiful setting and atmosphere. The crab ravioli and seafood risotto were amazing. The beer was a bit warm, but the attentive and polite service more than made up for it. Great place for a date.
Enjoyed a quiet lunch with Jasmine as a thoughtful, helpful server. Size portions are large. Delish bread, side salad & then fig pizza (sweet & salty, could almost pass for a desert)! So yummy! I took half home with me.
Super nice place. I was in town to see a friend and my she recommended this spot. It did NOT disappoint. Our server was amazing and made recommendations and told us about how the food here is grown locally so it’s always fresh.
Had a great experience here! There was a small delay with my order, but the staff was incredibly generous and attentive while I waited. They offered me drinks and even discounted my meal. Excellent customer service—I’ll definitely be back!

Amazing food. Excellent service. Great bartender, and lovely place to eat with either family or friends. Nice owner and staff seem happy at work which means alot. Food never disappoints.
I had chicken parmesan and my date had chicken Marsala. Both were a bit sweeter than expected, risotto and sauteed brussel sprouts were out of this world.
I came here for a business meeting/dinner. We were served family style. Liked the appetizers, calamari, salami and cheese. The fresh bread is very good. We got a chicken dish, it was okay. The alfredo cheese tortellini is to die for. I highly recommend. My only complaint was the expensive margarita that was small and wasn't super tasty. Service staff was fantastic.
The food is good here. The menu for lunch is limited. Unfortunately for me, the menu is not diabetic friendly, and the options are restrictive. You basically have sandwiches, pizza and pasta. I got a Queens Melt, and it was tasty! My friends got the pizza, and it looked good. Honestly, I would had rated this restaurant higher except for the variety of choices.
Bella Luna provided an enjoyable dinner experience when I went. The bread and oil and balsamic vinegar at the beginning was a nice touch. I ordered the lamb for dinner. I'd say it was okay. Service was very good, but it could have been a bit more attentive. #bechego

Great service. Love the ambience.. only thing I didn't loke was that you can hear the music from the front when you sit in the back area. The food.amd wine was delicious.

All the staff we interacted with were great. Ambiance was good, maybe a bit bright and there were no soft surfaces to absorb any of the noise. If that was all it was, it would rate higher. The thing about a restaurant is that it has to also be about the food. We knew going on that it would be pricey, and it was. One wine, two beers, an appetizer, two salads, two entrees, two coffee s and a shared desert, plus tip was about $150. We paid what we expected, but did not get the quality we expect when we pay that much. I found that most things we ordered had great flavor, but poor execution really impacted the experience. For instance, our sweet potato fries were soggy and limp, but the sauce was great. Both of us got our proteins overcooked. I had an alfredo that had great flavor, but VERY dry chicken. It has been sitting under a heat lamp for some time, as the top noodles were also beginning to get crispy. My companion's meal was overcooked as well. Overall, we had a good time, staff, again was great, but we would not recommend a meal there. It would be fine for desert and coffee at the end of a date. I would guess that the chef who's recipe was used would be great, but whoever we got on that night did not understand how to run the kitchen to get well prepared food done at the right time, and sent out subpar quality.
Really just a horrible experience. First of all it’s super loud and the music is blasting. The Caesar salad had a very strange taste, wedge salad pales in comparison to the wedge at Destino’s and twice the price. Meatballs were ok but $18?!? Crab ravioli had a very fishy taste and they were paper thin. Two salads, meatsballs and ravioli were $80… won’t be returning :[
Let me start out by saying my family and I love this restaurant. The food is fantastic! However the service we received from our waiter was less than par. Initially when we sat down it was fine. I was sassed by our waiter when I asked if he could put pineapple juice with grenadine in a cup for my son which I didn't think was a big request. Waited about 20 minutes for drinks. Brings the drink to me and says oh here it's how YOU wanted it. The amount of time we waited for our food was nuts. There were multiple other tables complaining as well. I understand you can be short staffed and that's fine but don't be rude. Our waiter was flirting with other customers while ignoring our table entirely. Mind you the only reason this guy was trying so hard with this other table was because he had already upset them. Then offered to buy them 2 bottles of wine and then continues to pass out his business cards on how he details cards. By the time we got the check we were just sitting in an empty room while he flirts with the one woman left from that group. So I just walked up to go pay myself. He seemed pre occupied talking about his business and how he already asked to leave work today and they said no. The manager did come over and apologize previously for how long the food was taking and was very kind. I don't think he was aware at all how his waiter was behaving. We would love to come back! Just maybe not when that waiter is working....
I have always liked Bella Luna but my last two trips left me questioning returning. The time before this I never got my food even though I mentioned it twice. They would no remove it from my bill and suggested I take doggie bag. This time we waited an hour for our food with no apology, we had to call them over for drink refills and we asked for fresh parmesan cheese and 20 minutes later got pizza topping parmesan in a jar. I hope they come around. I would love to be able to go back.
I would give them 3.5 stars out 5 just because some staff-customer service attitudes I was able to see. Lady on her 50-60s would not look us in the eye while talking, she was more flat on terms of customer service. She got better towards the end making some little jokes that you appreciate trying to break the ice. A bald white guy serving the water would almost spill the water by serving it, I felt he was not comfortable serving us (there was a mixed family 3 tables from us, so I don't want to think it was race related) Host tiny lady received us with a big smile, definitely the warm welcome you want. I told the lady and the bald guy we were there celebrating my wifes birthday I was completely ignore. Food: Try the burrata and the Alfredo ❤️
We had a brunch for the veterans women and wives of the men that served. The atmos beer was beautiful. We had an auction. The waitress was on point one person for all of his wonderful hats off kadoodles beautiful work. Presentation of the food was nice. Salad was good. Cookies were the bomb. The noodles fell Short.
The place looked nice but the service was lacking. When we were first seated, the waiter came by and asked "do you know what you want?" followed by "and water is ok?" - the interaction felt really rushed and we felt like we were a burden on the waiter. Once our order was taken, it took about 40mins to get a pizza and a sandwich to us, which my wife and I felt to be a fairly long time. As for the quality of the food; the gorgonzola and fig pizza felt like it was lacking in the gorgonzola and the dough was a bit tough. As for my wife's sandwich, there was a great deal of bread compared to similar sandwiches we have had, and the potatoes chips that were served with it felt spongy and very salty. Not the greatest experience and we won't go back.

Yesterday 9/12 was my first time at Bella Luna. Food was good, atmosphere was good. However, I was put on the spot by the server in front of my staff! As the server was clearing our table, they accidentally spilled ranch on my leg and shoe. No big deal, I cleaned it, my staff cleaned what I couldn’t reach and then the server came and cleaned my shoe as well. He brought the checks, I paid using the QR code and customed my tip amount. The server came to me, brought my receipt confirmation for the payment I made with the recommended tip percentage circled and said “I noticed you didn’t leave me a tip, was it because I dropped ranch on your leg?”. I was caught of guard and just looked at him and said, I did leave you a tip! I was surprised that they felt confident enough to call me out in front of the people I was with. That was unprofessional and embarrassing.
Beautiful building, but loud and busy. 6 pm on a Saturday night not best time for a nice quiet meal. Two of us had the Milanese chicken and it was delicious. One had seafood ravioli and it was bland. Fourth had pizza and it was good. Service was just okay
Very disappointed. The staff were friendly but I ordered a chicken parm And they literally threw a whole can of red sauce all over the plate . It was flavorless and overkill. I wish I had taken a picture. I asked for it to come with pasta and paid extra - so disappointed. You rather go to cheesecake for this dish
I hadn’t eaten pizza Bella Luna’s since it opened years ago. I remember enjoying the fire cooked crust so I thought I’d order a pizza through door dash instead of the usual Pizza Hut. I don’t know if it’s all they serve or is only available on DD menu but there weren’t many options and no way to personalize. Not even extra cheese! I ordered a pepperoni (I guess only 1 size is available) and it arrived as expected on time. I was very disappointed that the cheese was sparse and the pizza altogether lacked anything that would set it apart from a slice of Sbarro’s Pizza. Remember that place that used to be in the mall? $3.25 a slice w a drink. Yup, same exact type pizza. Nothing spectacular. Overpriced for such a small pizza w only pepperoni. ($20.00 plus tip). Once it cooled, it wasn’t any more appetizing. The areas where there was an even more serious lack of cheese was evident. Why are pizza places so stingy w the cheese? A good amount of cheese can sometimes make up for crummy pizza. Or at least keep you from the bottom of the list. I will say that the amount of pepperoni was average to generous. They definitely didn’t skimp in that department. This pizza reminded me of 7-11 pizza after it’s been sitting under the light too long which I know it hadn’t as it was freshly made. I think if the pizza had a sufficient amount of cheese & perhaps a variation of cheeses it would set it apart from a regular old piece of pepperoni you could buy anywhere. It needs something special. Some Parmesan on the crust, or spread the pepperoni & parm on the crust so it gets a little crispy and golden. If whomever made it took a little more time to make sure they put enough cheese, it might’ve been 3 stars. I just can’t get down w a lack of cheese. Maybe you’ll have a better chef than I if you try it but I’m going back to PH until I can get some real good brick oven pizza. With cheese!!
This has genuinely been the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. First of all the price for the lack of quality is outrageous. Second of all the service was horrible, the owner personally kicked me and a group of PAYING friends after we called out his restaurant for lack of cleanliness after we had all found that our water was disgustingly dirty. Third of all it is so upsetting that we had all combined paid over $600 just to be treated horribly from the beginning to the end. Save your money and peace do not go here.
My wife and I have been here a few times and at the beginning everything was great. About 2 months ago my wife and I wanted some drinks and appetizers and wanted a high table by the entrance, the tables were empty and we were told to give the hostess 10 minutes….. for what??? She couldn’t answer. About 2 weeks ago we went for a drink and some food and we were surprised by the waiter asking us to order everything we wanted to order at once. In other words I was trying to order an appetizer and then we would decide on an entrée but he said (waiter) they make him put in the the entire order at once. I’ve been to many restaurants and have never heard you had to order your entire meal all at once…. Today we ordered pizza and a butternut tortellini. See the pictures for yourself…. Does that look appetizing, like a full order, and worth $21??? I THINK NOT!!! No flavor what so ever, no sauce, just tons of oil! It was like they threw everything on a pan and heated it up and threw it in a container. We’ve given this place a bit to many opportunities. Take your money elsewhere!!
We have been patrons of Bella Luna for years but service has gone downhill fast and after interaction with the rude owner and slower than molasses service we will not be returning ever again. We were treated horribly by the owner. He needs to learn that customers are your bread and butter and to cut them off and not listen and yell “no no no” at them as they are trying to speak is completely disrespectful. I don’t care what kind of night you are having and how much you are trying to “do your best” you don’t treat customers like that. All the staff looked very angry so clearly a busy night and also a birthday party in back area. If you can’t serve all your customers in the dining room in a timely manner then you shouldn’t book a giant party. We had 2 1/2 hours allotted for dinner which should have been plenty. We had to start asking where dinners were as it approached 7. We ordered shortly after 5. Last meal arrived at 7:10 and we had shoe tickets for 7:30. We had to request owner come to table only to learn that he was absolutely rude as hell. Wouldn’t listen to the two women who were trying to explain what had happened. His behavior was unacceptable. One of the men at the table literally had to raise voice to cut off the owner so we could be allowed to finish our sentence. Now wonder all the staff was walking around looking so angry. His answer was to remove a small amount of the bill. Worst service of my life ever. Even if he removed the entire bill I still would have never stepped foot in there again!! Plenty of other restaurants in Merced
Unfortunately the restaurant has a new owner. It is not what it used to be. We had a party of ten. The service and meals were good. However two in the group ordered the evening special, fish which turned out to be not good at all. Not edible. When we quietly informed the waiter that he could take the meals away he returned with the owner who was rude and aggressively demanded we explain ourselves. He was abusive and accused us. I gave it 1 star for the owner’s childish and unprofessional behavior.
WAY to overly priced for the quantity and quality of food. Ordered for pick up and didn’t even get my total over the phone. Then when I got there, the staff was VERY rude. They forgot my side salads and didn’t include utensils so I had to drive back. Two meals were definitely not worth $70. I can get Italian food and drinks anywhere else that’s just as good and much better priced.
This was an order for delivery. Right after I received the food I found it was cold. I ordered the short ribs. They were over cooked, boiled meat. Absolutely dry and the sauce did not cover it up. The coconut shrimp was good, but that was it!! The shrimp ravioli sauce was barely passible. Very little flavor and the ravioli filling was tasteless. There was one small piece of brocolli with it. None of the meals are worth the cost. Also if you use a delivery app they charge more than Bella Luna for take out Needless to say, I will not order ever again from Bella Luna. Basically a waste of money. Because I travel for work, I constantly try new places and this was a hugh mistake.
The worst part after experience. We asked if they had happy hour since there was a bar. The bar winter seemed very insulted and rudely said “this is a fine dining restaurant with white table clothes”! We order drinks, he brings them and rather than going to the side of the table where me and my husband we not holding hands, he rudely puts h the drinks in front of our faces and outs them in the table. After the meal, my husband excused himself to the restroom, the waiter comes to the table and lets me k it how much he didn’t like my husband for asking for happy hour.
Have been here two times and have never tasted the food. Both times was invited as a part of an event. Was there for over 2 1/2 hours and NOT ONCE was I acknowledged by the staff. No one to see if I needed any assistance or even offer a glass of water. Was completely ignored and unwelcome. As a member of the media, I would definitely advise finding another venue or avoid going to cover an event occurring here. Update.... As I was packing up my equipment, a staff member came up to apologize and offered me the leftovers from the event. I declined the offer as I was in a rush to pack up and move on to my next event. Thinking about the offer later, it really made me feel that my patronage is not welcome there. How many restaurants offer leftovers as a way to apologize? Two years in a row this has occurred. Guess if I am asked to broadcast an event there, I need to make sure to eat before and bring a couple of bottles of water with me.
This was my favorite place to stop for Dinner on way to Bay Area. Until last night. I was charged $32 for 4 small scallops appetizer. This was ridiculous and more than most of Dinner entrees. No more stop by for me. Food was average.
I can’t rate the food as the condescending wait staff and the refusal to put us at a nice table, even though we had reservations preempted our order and resulted in our departure. Manager was sarcastic and not helpful. Why do older people always get the short shrift at restaurants.
Went in for a family birthday early last year, the birthday boy had to wait over an hour for a Lamb dish they had. The workers did give a veggie soup since everyone else was getting food as an apology for the wait. When the lamb finally came it was only 4 small anemic pieces of Lamb & 2 of them were RAW! Over an hour for 4 bite sized pieces of Raw Lamb there was more bone than meat. They did offer a Steak plate but that even took over 30mins. We all gave the Guest of Honor food from our plate that by the time the steak was about to come out we said no thanks since He was full by that point & had planned to see a movie. What irritated us when they actually wanted to charge for the Soup we thought was complimentary since we waited over an hour. Also tried to charge for the Steak which never came out bc "they would have to throw away a good steak if we don't claim it". We waited over 1.5hours for Raw food on a Birthday! The manager did eventually take the charges of the Lamb, Soup & Steak off the bill Unacceptable & embarrassing for us since we promised him a good Birthday dinner.
I entered the premises 5 minutes prior to a group of 4. The front door host, whoever he may be, looked me in the eye and ignored me. He asked the group if they could be assisted instead, as they walk in! When I informed him that I was here for the takeout (5 inches from his hand), he responded with the rudeness, "I understand, I'll help you right now bro."( The food was only 5 inches from his hand.) It seems that I must have a different skin tone to receive his superior service or his full attention.
This was the worst restaurant that I’ve ever been to in my entire life. The owner was super condescending towards our group, the food was bland and took over 90 minutes to arrive. The only person who was good to us was the person who poured out water. The food was bland and the portions didn’t match the price. When it came to paying our bill, the owner was impatient and constantly berated us just because we were college students. I’ve never felt so disrespected as a paying customer. Please save your money for a restaurant that respects you. We were kicked out for taking the pictures of the water btw.
