Opinions de Broadway Dive New York
The staff here is friendly, know their business, and maintain a quality tap list. Their bottle selection is the hidden gem of the city. Damnit, I told you, now it's not so well-hidden. There's a variety of seating options, which is something I always dig (but still prefer bellying up), and taxidermy all over the place - score!
Fun local bar that's less divey than its name suggests. Years ago it was a proper dive; now it's a bar/craft beer shop with a great selection of beers on tap as well as a wide variety of bottled craft beers to go.
Great dive bar, my kind of place. Wooden bar, straight up bartenders, lots of stuff on the wall that is interesting to look at and...wall outlets under the bar to charge your phone. Rocknroll and a great happy hour, this is the spot!
Best beer selection for off license in UWS. Great bartenders that ate knowledgeable about the beer and it has a great vibe overall. Locals are hilarious
Friendly dive bar. Lots of regulars. Excellent tap beer selection. Avoid canned ipas. Attractive but dated. Excellent sour selection. Trivia Tuesday at 9
A great dive tucked into the towers of the Upper West. Eclectic decor, great beer menu with global options (which is fantastic because there's only so much of the domestic 'brewed-in-my-aunty's-old-washing-machine' seasonal ale that i can take).
Really cool friendly bar, absolutely delighted that they are open to show the England vs Sweden game. Erin the bartender is absolutely lovely and gets extra cool points for being a fellow Bowie nut ⚡️😎⚡️
Good places for watching games or for trying beer / whiskey flights. Always an interesting selection on tap. Cozy seats on the upper floor balcony. Food isn't bad, either.
For someone who travels a handful of times a year, it was a refreshingly quaint, almost secretive spot that provided the small town vibe caught in a big city. Once the patron gets over the "Don't judge a book by it's cover" initial reaction and steps inside, you'll find the bartenders charming and the drinks refreshing.
Just a wonderful dive bar with a very well-priced happy hour. They always have interesting beer. This is the best of the Dive family of bars (all of which are at minimum solid)
Definitely lives up to its name in terms of atmosphere, which is very chill if that's your thing. The real draw is the fantastic beer selection. Stuff you can't get anywhere else.
A friendly neighborhood type of bar, but you should come from out of the neighborhood too! Great bartenders, great drinks, a large selection of beers at the bar, and a MASSIVE selection for purchase, to bring home. Live music on Friday evenings.
So for its the best bar in that area, we really had a good time there and I will definitely will come back! The service is one word Amazing and its so fun thank you for everything!!
Great down to earth hangout spot for strong drinks and good brews. There's a nice balcony area and the ambience is great.
Love this place, my favorite neighborhood bar. There's more than meets the eye, I especially like the sort of hidden away lofted seating upstairs. Amazing selection of craft beers on tap. Take home a growler if you live in the 'hood.
Excellent bar. Plenty of selection, great staff but, most importantly, happily put the football (soccer) on with commentary for my buddy and I!
I went here about a month ago with my husband and we had a great time. We liked the beer selection and funky decor, but the best part was the service. Our bartender Erin was fantastic - we just moved to NYC and she gave us so many great tips on useful apps for the city, the most interesting museums, and good restaurants and bars in the Brooklyn neighborhood we mentioned we were eyeing in our apartment search. I just remembered to leave this review when we used one of her recommended apps, haha. If we’re up in the area we will make it a point to stop in again!
Sweet place with somewhat of a treehouse balcony at the rear of the bar. Good beer selection in addition to pizza available. Not really a place to find a party, but super place to catch a quiet drink without modern pop music.
Pretty much the best bar in existence. Shira is great, she really knows her beers. Overall the ambience, selection, and service are impeccable. Go here if you want a 'locals' vibe with great craft beer options.
Great place. Loved the vibe, very low key and relaxed. Amazing selection of beers. However I didn't expect the place to so small and it can be crowded at times so be aware of that.
This is such a cool place. The atmosphere is so welcoming and fun. The beer selection is crazy good, both on tap and in containers. I definitely want to make a return trip.
That bar by far the best in upper West side I am highly recommend the service and vibes are amazing we had so much fun and I will definitely come back thanks!
My favorite bar in this area! Friendly staff( Billy D especially) , great food , great beer selection, and good times! Lunch specials are great along with happy hour deals. A must check out bar if you're in the neighborhood.
Go here! All of the bar tenders are great, especially Erin. Amazing happy hour for the neighborhood and one of the only real dive bars left in NYC. Adorable upstairs lounge. Cozy spot.
This place is awesome. Super comforting and chill. The bartender is friendly and accomodating. Great service and great environment (including decor). This is definitely going to be a neighborhood go-to for me now.
Taps here are fantastic. World-class beers like Kwak and Delirium Tremens are permanently in place next to a rotating cast of local craft beers (Industrial Arts & KCBC almost always) that are wildly inexpensive during happy "hour", noon - 7pm, every day (!). Great staff and atmosphere. The bottle and can program (to stay or take out) is unlike anything I've ever seen. My favorite bar in NYC, hands down.
Great beer, huge selection of spirit. Perfect spot for a quick drink or your wedding after party.
Broadway Dive Bar is such a fun place. UWS go to!
Beautiful atmosphere, Excellent beer collection, amazing prices. Literally my living room. Lee has built a truly amazing neighborhood go to. Don’t leave new york without stopping by!
I had one of the best bar experience I've had in years thanks entirely to our bartender, Erin. She was the perfect balance of present, competent, sincere, and charming.
Our Upper West Side "Cheers" where everybody knows your name! I asked Katie (Bartender) and Lee (the owner) if they could start to order my favorite beer from my hometown and it is now regularly ordered. I also met the love of my life here... They also have a solid whiskey selection that is very reasonably priced for NYC. 5/5
Great casual spot to get a drink and a snack. Ask for Erin's Rye old fashioned! Or the Whiskey Tasting! Amazing staff and people. Stay here for hours you'll enjoy yourself!
Talk about a diamond in the rough. This bar is absolutely to be treasured. I recently moved nearby, and it’s less than a block away. Needless to say, my friends and I make sure to stop by at least a couple times a week. Watching games, going out for a casual chill night, needing a change of scenery…whatever it might be, Broadway dive can deliver. Erin is a cornerstone of the bar. Aside from being a pillar holding the place up, she is also such a great person inside and out, and a fantastic conversationalist. It’s always so funny how EVERY single person who walks by Broadway Dive HAS to turn their head and look inside, some coming in to check it out, some not. But I can guarantee nobody walks by this place more than once and doesn’t stop in! The staff is the reason this place is what it is. They’ve cultivated an environment for all walks of life to stop in, kick back, and have a fulfilling drink. I challenge you to give Broadway dive a try. #don’tsayCALI
Cool bar, but the atmosphere was kinda weird. One dude I didn't know was very mad at me for not buying him chicken and there were way to many Evans which made conversations a nightmare to keep track of. But the beer was good. 5 stars
This place is so chill. I have been multiple times and will keep coming back for the vibes. Erin, you were the best bartender EVER and thank you for knowing what I want before I even open my mouth. Don't skip out on the hot pretzel-- it's amazing. 🥨
Very cool place! Has unique craft beers and full bar too! Sports on TV makes it fun! Also, tax is included in beer prices!
Cutest little place. Nice bathrooms. Great service. We went at 4pm on a Saturday and it wasn't very busy. Great friendly staff. Over heard staff saying they volunteered during 2020 and worked for tips so they could keep this place open. Now that's commitment! Only had drinks. The off brand regular soda was great 😂 Check this dive bar out for sure!
Chill and intimate, not quite as boisterous as some of the other locations and they don't have as much food, but still a good spot to watch a game. Still have a MASSIVE selection of beers like the other locations.
This is the best bar I've been to in a very long time. I'm from Seattle and it reminds me of home, so that's a plus. Great atmosphere, fantastic selection of beer and you have the option of stocking up your home fridge with a huge variety of bottled beer after a few pints. If you haven't been and you live in the area I would absolutely say go.
One of the better pubs I’ve visited. Loved the service.
Drinks were great! Vibes are nice for a day drink. I didn’t get to order food, however it did smell delicious by the table near by. Shout out to our server: -Allyse such a sweet heart! :)
The customers and staff who work here truly feel like a family to me. I have been coming to Dive since I moved to this neighborhood 8 years ago. Yes, the beer/drink selection is wonderful, but what is even better is the feeling you get when you are here. Always welcomed and like coming home. Truly unmatched. Also, they always let me watch gymnastics on TV, which I think is pretty top notch. I met my future husband here.
Loved this place, the bartender Erin is an absolute gem! She remembered my husband from years before and made us feel so comfortable and at ease. Definitely check this place out!
Classic dive bar feel with above average drinks and service
Great spot. Great atmosphere. $3 a pint week days.
I love the elements the owner has put in this place. Every nook and corner reflects the thought he wanted to express.
Very friendly place to hang out. Erin was working when we were there. She is great! The popcorn is terrific. Great Happy Hour.
What a cool little dive bar. Went here after a softball game in central park. Amazing amounts of beers on tap and the bartender Jenny was super nice.
I was at my mother’s house and was looking for a bar to grab a quick drink before heading home to the Bronx and came across this gem on Broadway!!! I love it and ended up meeting Katie!!!! She’s a sweetheart and made my visit nice and comfortable!!! I felt like I already knew her!!! She’s a hospitality guru and I appreciate her customer service; I love her soul!!!! If you’re ever in the area stop by and ask for or my guy Alberto!!!! Tell them King David sent ya!!!! Great dive bar on the upper west side!!!! I will definitely be back!! Thank you again Katie and Alberto for making my first visit a delight! You guys will definitely see me again!!!
From the moment I walked into this place it seemed special, and I quickly realized why. I fell into conversation with the bartender and I realized that this was the perfect bar. Great lager. Awesome vibe. Fair prices and a really cool bartender. I think her name was Erin(?).
Broadway Dive is hands down one of the best craft beer bars in all of New York City. The bar’s beer selection is vastly superior to Beer Run and Craft & Carry. Broadway Dive also has better prices! Further, the venue has a pleasant community of locals, including Columbia students who frequent the place and the bartenders are mostly longtimers, so they are extremely knowledgeable. And they happen to be friendly and courteous, which is unusual when compared to other craft beer bars in the City. Also, if you are looking for a solid whiskey and liquor selection as well as one of the biggest selections of high quality craft beers, you won’t be disappointed.
Crazy place, love the decor, the drinks menu and the easy going actitud of the people that work there. Open late and around here Ins’t much. Good music for almost all test, the play a bit of everything. Simple food but this is a place to drink to meet with local, or to come alone and just get loose in good music and good drinks
Very cool bar inside. Good selection of beers. Pretty good appetizers, we stopped here before a Black hawks game. It's def one of those bars that locals go to.
Cute and cosy little neighborhood bar! Have a pretty good selection of beers, even Shiner Bock! It's a good place to go to any day of the week. They also sell pickles!
This is a solid place. Good drink selection, nice people, small/casual vibe... Definitely a solid place to go for some drinks after work or with friends on a weekend.
Really cool and quiet bar. Sitting at the bar itself is recommended. Huge selection of beers. Nice decor. Not as good as the kettle of fish. Heaps of screens showing sport.
It's a dive bar! I've mostly been there during the late afternoon/early evening, so I can't say how things are at primetime, but I like this bar. Good bartender. Comfortable for two people to hang out and have a good conversation!
Solid beer choices in an unpretentious neighborhood bar. There's two levels to sit 'n chill in and if you're a fan of take home, there's plenty of choices in obscure beer, wine and cider to choose from. Good local spot.
Fantastic selection of beers on tap. Dark interior with sports etc. On nice days there is a patio to sit outside.
Lee and Nick always have the best local stuff on tap along with classic Belgians and a few macro's for the weak pallet. Excellent bottle selection to go. $4 burger and $5 HH pints. Small and cozy with cute balcony seating 3-5 the tables. Wine on tap, growlers & crowlers. Check out the loft seating for privacy.
Bartender was very nice. She kept an eye out to see if we needed anything cause we were off to the side of the bar. It is a dive bar so it was what it claims. We all had a couple of drinks and ordered the microwave popcorn. Would go back.
Great neighborhood dive bar. Friendly staff, great selection of draft beers, and live music. If you're looking for a relaxed place to grab a drink and chill, Broadway Dive is a good option. Look for the 'Tavern' sign on the building.
Pros: nice atmosphere, great service, friendly customers, cool vibe. Con: officially the most expensive place in the world I've purchased a mid-tier lager.
3/5/2025 update: Walked in from the pouring rain to get a growler fill. The bartender didn't even look up from his phone. After trying to verbally getting his attention for a draft list I found one for myself but ny mood had soured and nothing piqued my interest so I left. Pre- COVID review: The drinks are mixed well and at a decent price, and the bartenders were very attentive. The main issue is the small spaces left for the patrons of the bar. There is room for people to sit at the bar, and at tables near the bar, but if 1 person stands between the two, then it can be hard to get past them, depending on their level of niceness/intoxication.
They’ve got my favorite beer, FAT ORANGE CAT, and the best bartender, Erin, who’s a total theater enthusiast (Hi, Erin!). If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by—you won’t regret it! :))
Great place. Awesome atmosphere and don't let the name fool you! It is far from a dive. Upper West side neighborhood classic. Reasonable prices for Manhattan and an excellent selection of beers and booze. Lot's of beer to go options if you want to take one home with you. Bar staff is super duper. Mixed crowd of hipsters to a few neighborhood matures. Can't go wrong if your looking for a cool bar to feel at home at.
Monday afternoon so quiet but with a few fellow aficionados who appreciate a decent pub and pint. As a Brit in NYC, the dive is a nice find… like finding treasure!
Great beer selection, specialty cocktails, late night snack menu. Fun eclectic band on nights with live music. Dive doesn't accurately describe this bar as one could definitely rack up a hefty tab in a short time but the bar staff is great and the actual location is a cozy bungalo cabin full of quirky knick-knacks and odd memorabilia right off the 1 train. Be forewarned, if your party is 10+ or if you have a case of the happy feet, this is not the place for you. Space is limited on party nights and no one likes drinks spilled on them. Cheers
I'm not sure (nor do I care really) if this place is a true dive, but they do have an unexpectedly vast selection of bottled beer. It's extremely narrow and can be hard to maneuver around, and the crowd is, well, what you'd expect in the UWS. One of the older female bartenders is often rude and unatentive to me personally, but all the others are fine. The biggest pain in the ass about the bar is that only some of the bottles are priced, so it means you either have to spend several minutes thumbing through their menu online to check the price of each beer or just be hit with the surprise when you go to be rung up. I never stick around because of the corkage fee/crowd, but after work this is a good place to pick up something yummy and head back to Brooklyn.
While they had quite a long list of beers, it seemed to be mostly focused on sours and IPAs the day I stopped by. This is just not the style myself or my companions was interested in so we didn't stay too long.
During our stay here, we visited twice. First night we visited we found it a wonderful little bar. The wine was lovely. Very different and unique. Lovely lady behind the bar. This made us want to come back again. So we did, bartender the night was rude from the get go. We felt so uncomfortable so we drank our drinks quickly and left, not wanting to come back again. Maybe it was an off night, which I completely understand. But there's a certain level of professionalism you expect.
Great place for beers for two + control of the jukebox. I’m a sucker for gin and tonics, for those please head to Lions Tavern. Please note this is an ESTABLISHMENT of the neighborhood, if you want to local this is it!!!This review is my own personal opinion and doesn’t reflect on the establishment, other than what was mentioned
Great little bar we stopped in on our vist to NYC. Great atmosphere. The bartender made great drinks, but oh my was she cranky. She never smiled, she made you geel guilty ordering anything. It became almost comical to see everyone go up and order. Maybe it was schtick. Otherwise, loved the place.
This is a really unique bar, and could be fantastic. Tap prices are quite high, but nice beer. Don't bother with the snacks - un-neccessarily pricey. The service is hit and miss - our first visit we felt quite welcome. The 2nd visit was totally the opposite - we really didn't feel welcome so we won't be going back. Sad. I'd go there nightly if it was slightly less expensive and a little more welcoming.
The music and decor was fun. A cozy dive experience that reminded me of my hometown Midwest bars. Prices were great. That said, the bartender ignored my partner and I for 15-20 minutes after we sat at the bar in front of her and served people that came up behind us despite the bar being half empty and I making eye contact and trying to order. This continued for 3 hours throughout the night. Not sure why. Typically one would check on folks with empty glasses. We didn’t exactly fit in with the demographics and began to feel unwelcome. Whenever we’d order the response was best described as an annoyed demeanor. I don’t think I’ll ever return and wouldn’t recommend this place.
This people are bigots, Unbelievable! Who knew people could be so narrow-minded ? Stand tall against bigotry. Spread love, acceptance, and equality. Let's change the world together! Do not go to this bar.
I was there twice, first time everything went fine, I do not remember the name but the bartender girl, not a tall one, was pretty nice. Second time was horrible, first, I ordered lager beer, got IPA and bartender, a tall girl, didn't see anything wrong in that, yes that's pale ale she sad. I left pretty nice tips and in return another bartender guy took away our last two untouched drinks when we went out for a cigarette, again that didn't confused them at all. I thought that they didn't like me for some reason, maybe because I am not from this country.
The bartender was rude - She didn't apologize after knocking over (almost shattering) an empty glass toward me which made a giant noise. It genuinely freaked me out and she saw it but didn't care at all. The bar was not even busy. Would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to be treated like a human being with a normal auditory sense and feelings.
Been here plenty of times but the last time I came by, I felt unwelcomed by the bartender.. She was rude and even tipped herself. Since when is a green tea shot $15…
Stayed at a hotel a few blocks away. Selection of beers was decent. First time I have sat at a bar without service. My glass was removed and never asked if I wanted another drink. Once I was finally served 30 minutes later, one third of the glass was clearly head of the beer. The bartender kept clomplaining of how tired she was. Maybe you should go home rather than cleaning my arm as you clean the bar. SMDH
