City Coffee & Bar on 914 Columbus Avenue is the perfect spot for your morning coffee, brunch, or lunch. They serve excellent coffee and espresso drinks made with a tasty blend and offer a wide range of plant-based milk options. I recommend trying the warm banana bread or one of their freshly baked cookies with your coffee — both are delicious. For lunch, I’ve tried the Breakfast Burrito, filled with flavorful scrambled eggs, cheddar, avocado, and chorizo (you can swap the chorizo for fried mushrooms to make it vegetarian). It’s served with either a crisp, fresh salad or perfectly seasoned breakfast potatoes. The Avocado Toast is another favorite — simple, fresh, and served with a light side salad. A great choice if you want something on the lighter side. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the staff are wonderful — especially Bryan, who’s always attentive, available to take orders, answer questions, or simply have a nice chat. You really feel welcome here. City Coffee & Bar is also laptop-friendly, pet-friendly, and accessible for wheelchairs and strollers, making it an inclusive and comfortable space for everyone. A big plus is that almost every table has power outlets and a comfortable working height — perfect for catching up on emails or spending a productive morning with great coffee. I highly recommend City Coffee & Bar if you’re looking for a friendly neighborhood café with fresh, tasty brunch and lunch dishes!

I'm genuinely perplexed as to why City Coffee & Bar doesn't put its culinary offerings front and center. While their coffee and drinks are, of course, excellent, the food experience here is truly exceptional. Having worked in Lower Manhattan for over a decade and explored countless Midtown eateries, I can confidently say this is the pinnacle of Modern American Dining. The dishes are incredibly delicate, refined, and, most importantly, exquisitely delicious. From their fantastic hamburger, where the bun and patty achieve a perfect harmony, to the diverse flavors of their Burrito, Shakshuka, and House Granola, every item is top-notch. Their Omelets, Pancakes, Lemon Chicken Paillard, and various sandwiches also consistently impress. Even seemingly simple sides like their French fries and sweet potato fries are outstanding. Their French fries, in particular, surpass even those from establishments renowned for their fries, like Five Guys. City Coffee & Bar stands out not just as a superb cafe or bar, but as one of New York's finest casual dining destinations. It's truly a must-visit.

This was a random spot that I thought was just a coffee shop turned out to be also a Bar scene, very creative, the staff is absolutely amazing and the drinks are Well made I loved every single one I had. My server was Diane , absolutely Fantastic, She was super friendly and humble and made sure I was ok. Handling multiple customers all by herself I almost thought she forgot about me but boom she hits me with my next drink I requested. This is a very nice chill spot. I'm here doing happy hour and the VIBE is amazing. Definitely coming back and might make this my new go to spot after work.

Went with some friends and had a great time. The atmosphere is really good, it feels like having everything in one place. We ordered a beer tower that came with fries such a great deal!!! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Definitely coming back, highly recommended.

I have been to City Coffee & Bar a couple of times already. The first time it was in the morning of my birthday on a Thursday, the second two days later on a Saturday. The first time it was more quite as expected on a weekday, the second very busy. The atmosphere on both occasions positive, friendly and relaxing. I was served by different people on the two visits. The service was very good, with no extremes. The food was excellent. During my first visit, I got a delicious omelette and an iced latte, in the second visit poached eggs and again an iced latte. Both were very nicely cooked and served, and the portions were great. I loved the place as it has lots of space, so even when busy, you don’t feel crumbled. There are lots of people walking in to get coffee (or even other food items) to go, and still the service is fast and efficient. Well done and keep up the good work; if I lived here permanently, I would visit you every day!

Wow man, this place is amazing !! The food is great and freshly made and the drinks are even better! They have wonderful service and very friendly staff, especially Nicole. Love coming here on a Saturday night to let loose and have drinks with friends. Very welcoming and versatile atmosphere. Highly recommend coming here whether it be for a nice calm brunch or a Friday night turn up

My girlfriend and I randomly ate here for brunch once, and we keep coming back! They have different vegetarian options and they're delicious! The shakshuka is my favourite thing! Staff is very friendly, our server Brian was the best, and gave us great recommendations! Also tried the goat cheese and herbs omelette, and avocado toast and were great! 100% recommended

If only I could give more than 5 stars... I went there 2 days in a row. I had gluten free breakfast burritos and gf pancakes, and they were amazing. These 2 breakfasts might be the one of the best ones I had. Moreover, staff was friendly and helpful. The environment was lovely. I would recommend to everyone, especially if you have celiac disease or preferring gluten free food.
