Okay..I was a tad skeptical to pay $6.50 for one chocolate chip cookie…BUT it was worth it. Sooo warm ooey gooey and melt in your mouth yummy! I wish I would have tried more things there but I was in a rush. I will definitely be stopping back in next time I’m in the city. Best cookies I have had there thus far!
We only tried the chocolate chip cookies. We arrived at 3:45 PM on a Saturday and they were out of something cookie types but had plenty of chocolate chip ones. The cookie was loaded with chocolate and had a gooey inside with crisp edges. At least the one we received was warm. Superb cookie for $6.50 (as of 2/28/2026).
This place is not screwing around. Award-winning cookie is an understatement. This thing needs more than an award….it needs to be put in the books as the gooiest, chocolatiest, most tastiest cookie in all of New York. Never thought in my life that I would visit a destination just for a chocolate chip cookie…. this place just changed my perspective on what to expect from a chocolate chip cookie. Not only was the staff super friendly and nice, and the place was clean and tidy, but the coffee and tea was also tasty. But again, the moment I grabbed that cookie and broke it in half to expose the most chocolatiest insides I’ve ever seen….i knew my life was about to change forever…. and it did. Bravo Culture espresso for being so awesome, and thank you for sharing such goodness with the world through your coffee and cookies.
My brother and I came here very intentionally. While preparing for our New York trip, we listened to a podcast with Johnny Norton, the co-owner of Culture Espresso, and we made it our mission to try it out. I’d recommend to everyone to discover some cool spots in the cities through podcasts. We ended up trying all three locations, and each one had a slightly different vibe. The coffee was good, and the service was okay, though not quite as described in the podcast. I wish I had spilled my coffee to see what happens (spoiler). The real highlight, however, was the cookies. They were insanely good. We came back two more times just for them. My favourite was the white chocolate cookie, surprisingly less sweet than expected. I would die to get my hands on that recipe. I can still feel it in my mouth. We also tried to buy some merch, T-shirts and hoodies, but it was a bit disappointing that the lady stickers were not available at any of the locations.
Stopped in here while exploring midtown as their cookies came highly recommended for a NYC first timer. The line moved super quickly and I got two chocolate chip cookies and one of their cornbread cookies to take back to the hotel. They were the best that we tried while in NYC. My husband loved the cornbread cookie, I loved both of them and wished I had also tried the peanut butter. They were perfectly crispy on the outside while still being soft on the inside. Didn’t get great pictures but they were absolutely delicious! Staff were also super friendly, which is a huge plus when in an unfamiliar environment!
This is the best cookie shop in NYC respectfully. I went to attend the Thanksgiving parade then surprisingly realized I was right by Culture Expresso. I tried their cookies back in May and it was really good. Room temp, warm, etc it was goodddd. I just never found the time to stop by until now. As someone who has my preference of cookie, this ticks all the boxes. All I’ve had is the chocolate chip and that’s all I need. It’s not too thick. Has a nice exterior. The chocolate they use is perfect. They even have a plaque. That’s how you know they’re legit. I was addicted to Levain at one point and this reminds me of their cookies but done wayyy better. It was cold so I got a tea too. I don’t know if it was because the parade but it was active in here. A line to order and customers all over. Shout out to the couple who runs Culture Expresso. They’re kind and sweet. Service is good.
WOW was the chocolate chip cookie fantastic 😍 very high chocolate density, served warm and fresh. We waited in a short line on Saturday afternoon, but the line moves quickly. We took a half-dozen home and found they hold up when re-heated. Interior is crowded without much seating available.
Culture Espresso is a cozy coffee spot! Famous of their good cookies 🍪. The flat white is rich, smooth, and full of flavor, and their drinks are always made with care. The chocolate chip cookies are incredible — warm, gooey, and easily the best in the city. The café has a cozy vibe with friendly staff and great service. Perfect place to grab a quality coffee or take a break in the city.
This place has incredible espresso. The black and white cookie was delicious. I also bought a bag of beans to take home with me. It’s a Saturday and I waited probably 20 minutes in line just to order so be prepared to wait. The espresso had a perfect flavor and no bitterness. I highly recommend this coffee shop!
This place won best cookie in NYC for a reason. Coffee is good, cookies are bomb. The chocolate chip is a stand out. The Korn cookie was a surprise to me at how much I loved it. The oatmeal one is also delicious. I didn't get to try the peanut butter ones but ONE DAY I will. Delicious Cookies!
The maple cream on the pumpkin spice latte was sensational! The kind staff member at the front told me they make everything in house (including the PSL syrup). Espresso is fruity and acidic. The chocolate chip cookie was gooey and the black and white cookie was a fun blend of white and dark chocolate. It’s busy, but the line moves quickly! I’m interested in trying the PB cookie next time.
I had read about this place online, so I decided to give it a try — and wow, it did not disappoint. The cookie was absolutely fantastic, easily one of (if not the) best I’ve ever had. Perfectly chewy, rich, and full of flavor. The coffee was amazing too, smooth and strong without being bitter. I got everything to go and walked over to Bryant Park, where I enjoyed my morning with a great coffee and an incredible cookie. Such a perfect New York moment.
I was so grateful to accidentally find this hidden gem cafe on Google. At first, the unique woman character of their logo and their beautiful latte art attracted me to the cafe. It was crowded in the morning when I went there but they served the coffee and cookie very fast with good service. I ordered Cortado which the coffee taste was rich and bold and the beautiful latte art was crafted. Liked it! I was also impressed with their chocolate chip cookie which was awarded 1st Place Winner NYC Chocolate Chip Cookie from Blind Taste Test. The texture was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. A lot of chocolate chips melt in my mouth. Enjoyed it so much! ❤️😃 Anyway, it would be much better if the cookie is served warmer all the time. Overall, I like their coffee, service and atmosphere at Culture Espresso.❤️☕️ Thanks for making my wonderful day!!😃
I came here because the reviews were great and Reddit pointed me in this direction. I had an Americano and a chocolate chip cookie. The Americano was average - not great, but not bad by any means. The cookie (which apparently has won a lot of awards) was slightly above average. Maybe it's because it wasn't warm, but I got my order for dine-in so I would have assumed they'd warm it up before giving it to me on a plate. Overall, a good stop in but I would never go out of my way to go here.
Famous cookie but I thought it was alright? Ham and cheese croissant was ok too. Flat white was not memorable, but good! Not a ton of seats. Not that much of a cute vibe?? Felt a bit sterile. Wouldn’t venture out of my way to go back but would stop by if I was in the area again potentially
So….chat gpt led me to believe Culture Espresso had pour overs. It did not. There was a somewhat long line to the door when I arrived. Which is always a good sign of a place people want to try or frequent (even with long lines). I had the Ethiopian in a mug and was very happy with it. It was very flavorful. There is water available to customers which is nice. It’s small but there is some seating.
I debated giving three stars, but realized I was basing it off my own very high expectations having heard so much about the cookies here. I came for the chocolate chip cookie having heard that it's one of the best in New York City. I got 3 cookies - chocolate chip, black and white and the corn. The texture on all of them is spot on. They are crispy around the edges and soft and chewy in the middle. The chocolate chip was generously filled with chocolate and warm still. It was ok. A little too sweet without a lot of depth in flavor. If I had it not knowing it was ranked so highly, I would have thought it was good, but I found it disappointing. The other two cookies were underwhelming and I would skip them. The corn cookie bordered on not good and I love all corn flavored things. At $5.75 per cookie, I wanted more. The staff was efficient and pleasant. The atmosphere was your typical hole in the wall coffee shop. I was there on a Tuesday around 10am and there was a line out the door, but it moved quickly and there were some seats still available inside. It's a eat/drink and go place as the high traffic isn't condusive to work or lingering.
I got the strawberry white chocolate cookie, korn (cornbread) cookie and chocolate chip cookie. honestly didn’t get the tiktok hype around the chocolate chip cookie, there’s too much chocolate. I really loved the korn cookie though and it’s not too sweet the coffee is really bad it tasted like dirt. I ordered an iced americano, couldn’t even drink it and had to throw it out.
The coffee was solid and the vibe was interesting, half café, half art installation with chandeliers and upside-down mannequins. The name Culture Espresso might be the best thing about it. Tried two cookies: the oatmeal raisin had zero sweetness, basically flavored dough, and the black & white was fine but not memorable. If this place were in New Jersey, it would be a 5-star neighborhood gem, but in New York, where the competition is fierce, it lands at 3. Still, nice staff, cozy energy, worth a stop if you’re nearby.
Came for the award-winning cookie and left underwhelmed. The texture was spot-on—crispy edges with a perfectly chewy, gooey center—but the chocolate was overpowering and the sweetness a bit much for my taste. It’s a solid cookie, just not the “best in NYC” level I’d hoped for. On the upside, the matcha latte with almond milk was excellent—smooth, balanced, and just the right amount of matcha. The staff were friendly, the line moved quickly, and there’s seating for about 10–15 people (all full at 11am on a Tuesday). I’d return for the matcha and maybe to try the corn cookie next time, but I’ll skip the signature chocolate one.
