Opinions de Ichiran New York
This is always one of my go to spots to enjoy the perfect bowl of ramen. Perfect to eat at solo, but I've also visited with friends and family as well! This is a no tipping establishment and the service is as attentive as you want it to be. Upon entry you place an order on one of the kiosks. You're given a ticket and then they assign a booth seat to you. When you sit down you give them your ticket, they confirm your order and then they bring it to you when it's ready. Water is self serve. I like the have purse/bag hooks under your booth and place to hang up your jacket on the walls. Food is always consistent! I usually go with the recommendations notated on the kiosk for levels of heat, garlic, firmness of noodles. Love a jammy soft boiled egg, be aware you have to peel this when you receive it. They do a pretty brisk take out service as well. Join the rewards program if you plan to frequent. I'm a fan!!!
Exceptional ramen that tastes like the authentic version in Japan, located in the heart of city. Had the opportunity to taste Ichiran numerous times in Japan, and to the best of my taste bud ability, it’s almost identical. Even though they have around 65 seats available, be sure to wait a little bit if you come dine after 12:30 as there was a long line while we left. You order and pay ahead at the kiosk before being sitting at your very own tiny seating. When the shades open up, provide the server your ticket and your meal be be ready soon. Everything felt so fast and efficient, compared to the traditional sit down experience. No tipping required as they follow the Japan culture. The broth is super flavorful and pure liquid joy! Can’t go wrong dining here during the cold brutal winter months in NYC!
I have been to the original in Japan and this is spot on to what I had there! Rich, creamy broth with incredible noodles. You can build it how you like, adding in your favorite toppings and even order extra noodles right from your seat. The line was out the door but their system was so smooth we waited maybe 15 to 20 minutes (we were a larger group) after ordering. If you are in the area, definitely go! You won't regret it!!
Absolutely amazing. Food was warm, quick, and delicious. Service and staff were kind and went above and beyond (especially the lady at the front, shoutout her hard work). The ramen spice levels were perfectly customizable, the pork was tender and tasty, the soft boiled eggs were perfectly cooked, and the matcha pudding was sweet and a perfect cap to the meal. Highly recommend!!
Ichiran is consistently excellent, no matter the location. The price is reasonable if maybe a liiiitle high for NYC but the quality can't be disputed. The booths are terrific for solo dining or sharing with a friend, but it's not really suited to large groups. On busy nights, service can be a little bit slow but that's my only real knock. Save room for kae-dama!
The menu is quite limited, but if you’re looking for traditional Japanese ramen, this place might be a good fit. However, it may not be the best choice for people who prefer spicy ramen like tantan ramen. The broth is very rich and flavorful.
Ichiran Ramen in New York is a must-try for any ramen lover! This iconic Japanese restaurant serves up rich, flavorful tonkotsu ramen in individual booths, creating a unique and immersive dining experience. The broth is rich and savory, with tender chashu pork and perfectly cooked noodles Customers rave about the quality of the food, with many praising the authenticity and generosity of the portions. The service is also top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who cater to dietary needs. Plus, the no-tipping policy is a welcome surprise, making the experience even more enjoyable Some popular menu items include the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen, Ichiran Veggie Ramen, and Premium Yakibuta. Be sure to customize your bowl with extra toppings like soft-boiled eggs, mushrooms, and scallions. While some reviewers noted that the prices are a bit steep (around $30-$35 per bowl), most agree that the quality and experience are well worth it. Just be prepared for a wait, especially during peak hours Overall, Ichiran Ramen is a standout destination for ramen enthusiasts and anyone looking for a unique dining experience in New York.
I'm not exaggerating that this is probably the best ramen I've ever had. I was definitely hungry, but everything just works so well together and the broth is just magical. I came on a cold Monday night, so there was barely a line. I ordered at the front desk and paid first, then received my receipt. I got seated within five minutes upon entering, and the food came out pretty fast as well. The ramen definitely exceeded my expectations (from a non-ramen eater). I also just went with the recommended options and they were absolutely perfect. The only qualm I might have is that it's a tad on the pricey side, but for Times Square and what you're getting, I'd say it's worth it. So if you're in the area, please consider stopping by ICHIRAN Ramen Times Square!
Great place to enjoy some Ramen in ur own booth. Unique experience, come when they open and the line is not long. The noodles are very tasty and the soup is great for a cold day. They limit you to only one bowl of noodles, but you can order extra noodles and sizes while you’re in the booth. There’s places to hang your jacket behind you or underneath the table. You self serve your water. The place is convenient located in downtown New York and it’s worth going to.
Ichiran is considered one of the best ramen spots in New York and offers a truly authentic Japanese experience. Upon arrival, you place and pay for your order at the machines at the entrance, and then you are guided to your individual booth, following a very traditional Japanese dining style. Everything on the menu is authentic, and each dish is carefully and perfectly prepared. While it is not a luxurious restaurant, it stays true to its roots, focusing on tradition, simplicity, and the quality of the ramen.
Absolutely worth the hype. I just had the tonkotsu ramen at Ichiran NYC and it was really good—rich, delicious broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and amazing depth of flavor. Yes, there was a 45-minute line, but it was 100% worth the wait. The focused, solo-style dining experience lets the ramen shine. Would gladly wait again.
Came here with my friends just to quickly fill our stomachs after arriving from Philly without knowing how popular this place was. Quite literally we walked here perfectly right when it opened because we didn’t want to walk 18 minutes to eat ramen at another place. After eating here we understand why there was a whole line because it really didn’t disappoint! The broth was very light and not too salty like other ramen restaurants. The noodles were also made perfectly and reminded me of a comforting home cooked meal. I like how they only serve one type of ramen because it feels like they’ve perfected the entire bowl. Service was prompt and courteous and the atmosphere provided a lot of privacy between each guest/group.
If you are here for the authentic Japanese experience (including no tipping culture), this is the right place for you. You can customize the noodles to your liking, e.g., saltiness (dashi), richness (oil), as well as the spice level (it goes from 0 to 10!). Though the line seemed long but the wait wasn't too bad.
One of the BEST tasting ramen I've ever had! The experience was also unmatched, I loved the authentic solo dining experience I received here. You can remove the dividers if you are sitting next to someone though. Also worth the price- this bowl was $25 after tax. It was nice to customize your bowl to your liking (you can adjust the salt, garlic, onion, spice levels, etc). It was totally worth the 30 minute wait in the snow!
Delightful quality at a reasonable price in heart of Tourist Town! Try to get there before one to avoid a wait out in the cold. The noodles were delicate, the broth flavourful and just the right texture for me. The seating and serving added to novelty of the experience. Please follow staff requirements and order one ramen per head during busy hours.
There will be a line! Good tip is to rush over after your Broadway show and make it in with no line. They close at 10 pm but they’ll let you in upto the last minute. I went in twice at around 9:57 or something lol. The tonkotsu is priced higher than most Ichiran locations - $22. $4 for a full serving of extra noodles. The no tip makes up for it. I tend to go light on saltiness, light on oil and extra firm noodles.
First place to ever visit on recommendation from Tik Tok user. Worth every dollar spent! Simple ordering process. And you wait for few minutes before a “chamber” opens up. Go with your slip, sir and wait. A very polite server comes up and greets you first. Explains the table setting and then proceeds to take the order slip. The curtain comes down. 5 mins of anxious wait and the food is here. Went for the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen with topping set and cold Matcha tea. Delicious overall. Please visit and experience the no nonsense ramen. Simply loved it!
Ichiran is the place that made me fall in love ramen!! First of all, it is such a cozy environment inside, and is set up in a traditional private service setting with the option to fold in the privacy bars and talk to friends. The service style was extremely fast, efficient, and helpful. The food was all ready super swiftly, and anything that was needed was provided very quickly. The broth, egg, noodles, chashu… all of it was delicious. I also had some sake, which was reasonably priced for the quantity and taste. I really loved this restaurant, and it’s right in downtown Manhattan, so it is super convenient. As I said, this is the restaurant that made me love ramen. I practically licked the bowl clean! I hope that next time I’m in the city, I can stop in! Highly recommend!
I absolutely loved my experience here. My daughter and I was in the city for the Halloween parade. Since we both love ramen, we decided to try this place. What a great choice that turned out to be. The decor could use some updating but the concept was intriguing and very authentic to Japanese culture. I had never been to a restaurant where they cater to the introvert. However if you come with friends or family, the divider can be retracted . It’s really neat. But the most important thing is the ramen, it’s really good. The soup is flavorful, it has depth to it. The noodles are perfect, their spicy red sauce is yummy and it pairs well with all the ingredients. The menu is small and straightforward. I guess that’s a good thing because what they specialize in is very good.
Excellent for individual dining, and delicious ramen! I cover my face with a scarf everyday (niqab) so when I want to eat out, I need somewhere that offers privacy so I can uncover my face. I love Ichiran because every seat is at a private booth, so I can comfortably enjoy my meal in public without showing my face! I enjoyed a delicious vegetarian ramen, and even got an extra serving of noodles after my first round. It was a very delicious meal. I love that this restaurant has friendly and pleasant staff who accommodate your every need. Issac, who was the host for the evening, even offered me a super private booth at the end of the row so I could eat more comfortably. Everyone was polite and welcoming! All in all, I highly recommend this place for those in need of private but public dining options!
Great spot if you’re craving a focused, no-frills ramen experience in the middle of Times Square. The tonkotsu broth is rich, smooth, and consistently flavorful, and the customization sheet makes it easy to get the bowl exactly how you like it. Noodles had a great texture, and everything came out hot and well-prepared. The individual booths are perfect if you want a quick, quiet meal despite the busy location. Service is efficient and streamlined. It can get crowded, especially at peak hours, and prices are a bit higher than some other ramen spots—but that’s expected for Times Square. Overall, a reliable choice for quality ramen when you’re in the area.
This was an amazing experience!! Got their ramen combo w the matcha pudding and the food was fantastic. Broth was very rich and the noodles looked thin but had good texture. Def would come here again!
ICHIRAN Ramen Times Square is an authentic ramen experience done right 🍜. The rich, silky tonkotsu broth and perfectly textured noodles are outstanding, but what really sets it apart is the traditional Japanese-style solo seating, designed for total focus on the food. Private booths, minimal distractions, and customizable ramen make it unique and memorable. Busy and a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it for true ramen lovers.
The place is heavy with the atmosphere of those ramen bars in Japan. Grew up a bit in the country so this place does feel a tad bit authentic to the ramen experience you'd get ordering in Japan, somewhat. The wait was a bit long but the workers were pretty kind. A bit stern to those who didn't really adhere to instructions but English isn't a language the whole world knows very well so it's understandable. Seating was individual-based but you can open up the table dividers if eating with company. You are greeted with typical greetings when coming into a restaurant in Japan so that was a nice touch. Some ambience I noticed in the background so the experience was a bit immersive, too. Upon coming indoors you order with the tablets as the worker there can assist you. Options of thick or thin noodles and sides are there if you must. I chose to just have the basic meat option with onions and a thicker noodle. Everything else was additional and I didn't feel the need to add anymore so yeah, it can get a bit pricey even for individual meals. As an addition, there is a water fountain so for drinks you can just grab your own cup of water.
I went to this ramen spot on a date and from entry point to finishing my bowl, I had a pleasant experience. When we arrived, there was a line for entry (this was an hour after opening) and didn’t wait too long. I’d say it took about 20 minutes to be seated. When we arrived at our seats, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It wasn’t too loud. We were seated at a mini table that had a kind of door that gave us more privacy when eating. I did open it because I was with someone but that didn’t change the vibe or anything. The ramen arrived pretty quick (it’s pay at entry) and there was little conversing with the chefs which I really liked. The food was tasty and it was a good portion but the only problem I had was the price. Two ramen bowls and a matcha pudding came to exactly $75. The matcha pudding was disappointing to me because it was $10 and it was so small. It was about the size of an espresso shot cup. I gave this ramen spot a 4/5 because of the price and size of dessert.
We had Ichiran ramen with all the recommended options. It tasted good—less salty than the one I had at their Harajuku location in Tokyo. The noodles were a bit soft and the chashu slices thinner. The solo dining booths weren’t as private as those in Japan, but it was still fun to see “この一滴が最高の喜びです” (“This one last drop is the greatest joy”) at the bottom of the bowl, the Japanese version of “Good to the last drop”. The wait was a little over 30 minutes, but it was worth it. A nice touch and a reminder of the original experience.
I have been to Ichiran a few times before in NYC and also many times in Japan before. I got my usual order (full garlic, rich broth, spicy) and honestly, the ramen in Japan is better for only a fraction of the price. The problem is - i wouldn’t be mad if my exact order tasted the same, but the issue is that i got the exact same ramen order and it tasted way off. The broth was not that rich and also they barely gave any spice even though I asked for the Spicy option. The servers were nice though, and the vibe is exactly the same. It’s nice how it still remains a no tipping establishment in the heart of NYC. But for ~$25 for a ramen that doesn’t come with an egg, I would eat ramen somewhere else.
My review is for ordered delivery. I thought the ramen was fine, maybe magical in person but not at home. It is nice how you can customize so many aspects of your ramen but I ordered medium spicy and it still tasted mild. Know that this ramen has few toppings by design adding toppings like mushroom, egg, seaweed, and pork will quickly drive up the price. Delivery comes in a lot of packaging b it doesn’t come with a spoon or chopsticks/fork. You need to peak the eggs yourself but they also come in a plastic container. The instructions for heating are cute.
Customer service and overall environment was absolutely amazing. Their whole system is captivating. However, we had a very poor experience with the food and the dessert. The only meat available is pork, so if you don't eat it, you're only gonna get noodles floating in oily water along with a small quantity of vegetables. The most recommended dessert; matcha pudding tasted absolutely horrendous and that's coming from someone who loves matcha latte. The pictures attached are the best thing I got out of my experience here. Everything else pretty much went poorly. Will never be coming back.
