Food was great and tasty! I made reservations on OpenTable so group had no issues being quickly seated. The drinks tasted delicious (we had a pitcher of rum punch). I would come here again, restaurant is a cozy size but the ambiance made you feel like you were in the Caribbean. Despite the fact it was a chilly November evening. Also shoutout to whoever curated the playlist. It was great!

Even from the exterior decor, the place stands out. The vibe is great! You get in to some dancehall music and those who feel like dancing get on the floor. The food is truly Jamaican; the chicken jerk is a must as are the plantains. I also recommend the Ramen: hot and spicy! I heard from my friend that the brunch here is a festivity not to be missed with lots of rum on the house. The servers were affable and accomodating.

Everything you get here is 🔥🔥🔥 i saw Lila Ike and protoje here on a Wed night after they performed at Webster Hall the night before! Its always a vibe in here! And dancehall/Reggae music is always blasting through the speakers!!! Must visit!

Miss Lily's gets better everytime I go. From the happy hour wings and drinks to the entree selection, the food is always seasoned and prepared well. The pricing is a bit steep, but well worth the cost. My favorite go to dish is the West Indian Curried Shrimp!

We love Jamaica, the pepole, the music, the vibe and the simple food. At Miss Lily's we felt like in Montego Bay. The loud music, the cocktails and the Jerk dishes reminded us of the wonderful island of Jamaica. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff, amazing place. Stop messing around and get the Jerk Chicken / Ox Tail Soup. They hit. Inside is really cozy, we got a booth with a big group. Turns into a club in the evening, vibes.

I always questioned this placed as I passed by wondering if it was good' but a friend recommended it. The ambience is nice inside, club like aka carribian retreat feel. They had a live DJ on a hump day, which was nice. Club like music. The service was excellent. I ate at bar because you have to reserve table and I didn't want to wait. Cocktails are great. I had passion margarita. And the food is well...will knock ur Sox off...food was awesome...I had the Wednesday special....you may want to order a side with this plate. U can share plate as well. Lady bartender was lovely.

Phenomenal. Had the oxtail, goat, chicken and shrimp curry. Plantains and fritters to start. Everything was truly delicious. Love this place, been here twice and always good.

Yup during covid this place is still pumping out fantastic food and drinks. They have a wonderful setup, for on street dinning. The food cooked to perfection, full of flavor and served by a tentative and friendly member of staff! What more can you ask for. I suggest if your looking for somewhere in the lower East side for a covid dinner with friends or even a date, you should make your way to Miss Lily's and get your fill.

Decor is so on point at all the Miss Lily's locations and always a festive vibe. Reggae, drinks and jerk make me happy.

Passed by here many times during my time in the city. My friends and I finally gave it a try last weekend. First of all, it’s really difficult to get into any brunch on a Saturday morning. Fortunately, the Gods smiled on us that day and we got a spot in the outside dining area. It’s a wooden cased area with closet doors and heat lamps. Even so, it’s cold, but it’s the middle of January and we were hungry. I had the Breakfast Rotti and a Guinness. It was delicious. The service was fast and everyone was very accommodating (we wanted to keep the doors closed to keep the heat in and even though it’s against policy, we were obliged). Will definitely be back in the future for bottomless brunch ($25 on Sundays).

I randomly walked into this spot because I heard the music. What a great time. I had jerk chicken with rice and peas. The bartender was very friendly. He went to the kitchen to order my meal because I came right at the end of brunch. I loved it. I will be back. 👍🏾🤙🏾

Such a tasty meal and excellent portion sizes. Felt the service was quite rushed - as soon as we had finished the meal, the waiter was determined to move us on and we had to deliberately stall to enjoy the atmosphere for a little while longer.

The shrimp curry & oxtail stew were fantastic! I really appreciated the quickness to which the food arrived despite the packed restaurant.

Enjoyed the Caribbean music. Went with a large group for a birthday dinner on a Wednesday night. The drinks were on point. I has tequila with fresh pineapple juice. My shrimp curry was so tasty. Had fish fitters as an appetizer delicious.

Had an amazing night at Miss Lily's 7A Cafe ! The atmosphere was just right — stylish, relaxed, music pumping and perfect for drinks with friends. Cocktails were top-tier, with great variety and attention to detail. What really impressed me was how well the place is managed. Devin was clearly on top of everything — checking in, keeping things smooth, and making sure everyone felt welcome without being overbearing. The space flowed well, the service was efficient, and the energy stayed upbeat all night. Highly recommend — it’s rare to find a spot that feels this effortlessly cool and well-run.

We made a reservation online not realizing dining room meant either indoor or outdoor. My group of five was seated outdoor which we first weren’t happy with since there were tables available inside but it turned out to be okay! The outdoor space was warm and spacious. The food and cocktails were delicious. Big portions too which we didn’t expect. We ll be back

C

We were a group of about 30 people. We had great service, beverage, food and individual checks. The outdoor seating was fun. Each meal was culturally accurate, cook to perfection. I ordered ackee and salt fish with greens and plantains. Homemade ginger beer was lightly sweetened and tasty! Can't wait to return and try another menu item.

I love coming into Miss Lily’s when I’m in the mood for Jamaican food. I usually order the Jamaican breakfast which includes ackee, salt fish, greens and plantain. The watermelon cocktail is also amazing. The vibe is always nice and there’s a DJ usually here during brunch on the weekends.

Another Great Spot holding it down in the east village. It doesn't matter if it's for brunch lunch or dinner . Lillys is a comfortable Jamaican eatery serving up tasty drinks and delicious Caribbean food. The jerk chicken is official. The jerk ribs are also really good . Stopped in for brunch they had a dj spinning vinyl records. The music was on point . It usually is . They have a dj thur, fri, sat, and Sunday for brunch . I really enjoy this place . The food service and vibe are always super chill . Stop by and treat yourself to the tastes of the Caribbean and some really good music

B

The food was great, service as well, clean dining area, nice and bright island Jamaican feel. If you like music playing in the restaurant? This is a good place.. We all loved it there.. If you want to eat outside and not hear music or just to eat outside you can, there is also heat and fans in there to be cool or warm. My reason for a 4 star rating was only because in the bathroom the floor was sticky.

M

Phenomenal food! I've never had Jamaican food before but this made the list of the top 5 restaurants I've eaten in my life. Worth the trip and worth the add to any bucket list for anyone visiting the city from afar (like us)

The food was perfect. Everything I tried was incredible. Nothing was bad. The portion sizes are generous too. The chicken, the fries, and mac and cheese, everything was delectable. Even the cocktails are perfectly made. Can’t wait to go back there.

My boyfriend and I decided on dinner at Miss Lily’s and were instantly charmed—it felt more like visiting a friend’s home than going out to eat. I’ve been there on other occasions and was super eager for him to try ☺️.From the moment we walked in, we were met with warm smiles, quick service, and a playful sense of humor from the staff that made us feel right at ease. The service here truly stands out. Our server, the staff and management were super attentive and hilarious, checking in with perfect timing and tossing in a few jokes that made us laugh out loud. You could tell they genuinely enjoyed making people feel welcome—it wasn’t forced or scripted, just real, warm hospitality. Now, let’s talk about the food and drinks. The rum punch is an ABSOLUTE must—perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and with just the right kick to ease you into island time. It was the kind of drink that makes you forget your to-do list and start dreaming about beach sunsets. He had the jerk chicken with mango chutney, and it was nothing short of fantastic. I had the oxtails which a personal favorite! The chicken was tender, with that smoky heat that hits just right, and the mango chutney on the side brought a sweet and tangy freshness that pulled the whole dish together beautifully. It tasted like something lovingly made in a family kitchen—full of flavor and soul. By the time we left, we felt like part of the family. It’s rare to find a place where the food, service, and atmosphere all come together so naturally. We’ll definitely be back—and next time, we’re bringing friends.

We’re just finishing up an amazing brunch and I had to share how good it was! The jerk chicken roti was like the best burrito I’ve ever had! Tender chicken, flavorful sauces, soft roti: absolutely delicious!! My lover got the oxtail stew and loved it, too.

I’ve been to the OG spot in Negril and coming to the spot in the city took me back. The whole fried porgy was amazing with the escovitch and festivels. The lo mein was pretty good but we missed the jerk pasta. The Mac and cheese is always great and the ackee hummus was divine. Happy to have this option locally.

J

This spot is great vibes all around. The atmosphere and aesthetic will have you thinking you’re somewhere in Jamaica, not NYC. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The drinks were good, especially the rum punch. All the food options on the menu looked tasty. I definitely recommend getting the peppered shrimp as an appetizer. The jerk chicken ramen was top tier, had amazing flavor and spice. The best part is that after about 11/12 (I went on a Saturday) they clear out the chairs and tables and it turns into a little bashment (party).

L
Leah Cummings

Have been here a few times, and it never disappoints. More recently, I went here with friends after boozy brunch for a light snack. We ended up getting the baked pasta, and one of their chicken dishes. The chicken is delicious - flavorful and juicy, and their rice and beans, and fries were great too! We didn’t get drinks this time, but in the past I’ve enjoyed their cocktails. The ambiance here is also great - colorful, bright, energetic - you almost forget you’re in NYC. Staff was friendly! Would definitely recommend -- and looking forward to the next time I come here!

The best Jamaican dining in the city! I visited the other location which is now closed but everything is still consistent. Cozy atmosphere and amazing food. My favorite thing on the menu till this day is the curry vegetable roti! The oxtail and rice and peas are good too but the roti tops that. Im not even vegan but the flavors are insane. Must try!

My friend celebrated her 30th birthday brunch here. We had only booked for 7 and then three people booked a table on their own. The hostess was kind about seating us all near each other. Food and drinks were great as always. I recommend brunch over dinner. Love the food selection more

Great service started from reservations to when they clean the table. The Jamaican greeter is a movie star. When I reserve I could only book for 4, so I wrote a note to say I want 8 at the table and I got exactly what I needed. The food was very good, we loved 😍 ❤ everything we ordered. From plantain chips, ackee humus, corn, fish balls to jerk salmon 😋. The fake ginger drink needs to be made with real ginger that was not ginger at all. Everything else was great. Please try the cream cake with the rum cream. Lovely 😍

The whole package at Miss Lily's 7A Cafe works perfectly together. I appreciated the original, lively environment. We had such a fun time at Miss Lily's! The rum punch was delicious, and the main courses were phenomenal. We expected good food based on other reviews and top restaurant press, but the jerk chicken and the oxtail blew us out of the water. So wonderful!

This is a gem I just so happened to walk upon. I was lucky to have gotten a table because RSVP is recommended. Let me tell you why... this place is amazing!!! The atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the music, the servers(Dalanique), bus boys, everything was flawless. The food: Have you ever went to a restaurant and was eating and thinking about what you going to have the next time? Yep!!! That was me. I cant wait to try everything on that menu. Everything from the rum punch to the jerk chicken to the mango chutney!!! The drinks: fully stocked bar and drinks magically appear in the blink of an eye. The drinks were also gone in a blink of an eye--- so good!!! The atmosphere: This place is great for a romantic fun date, bestie date, even a small group. Music was great and I went on a Random Tuesday so you already know how the weekends must look like. AGAIN RSVP because it was packed on a Tuesday!!! So you know what to expect! Overall it was an amazing impromptu experience that I cant wait to have again!!!! All the workers are so friendly and informative.

Miss Lily's Rum Bar offers an exceptional Caribbean-inspired experience, with interior design and ambiance that vividly capture the spirit of the Caribbean Islands. The staff are warm and hospitable, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere. The cuisine, including both food and desserts, is flavorful and well-balanced, while the cocktails are smooth and expertly crafted. Of particular note is the rare and extensive rum collection, featuring unique selections from around the world—some of which are nearly impossible to find elsewhere. This establishment consistently delivers an authentic and satisfying Caribbean experience, earning lasting loyalty from its patrons.

Food here is excellent. I had the oxtail and loved it. We didn’t realize they have a DJ for brunch so was not prepared for the noise lol. Their frozen drink machine also wasn’t fully operational yet, which was unfortunate because I wanted a frozen drink. Food is pricey, but this is a solid choice for Jamaican food.

Amazing food. Silly how the same waiter met us outside and told us to use another door on Ave. A where he was waiting for us to take us to the same spot we wet him originally 😁. The fan at the outdoor sitting was blowing my face off for a while until it was adjusted. Hopefully they open the windows when I come back next time. The food melts in your mouth.

We enjoyed a fantastic vegetarian dinner with friendly service and upbeat music. We made the trip to Miss Lilys to taste the menu curated by Chef Brittney “Stikxz” Williams. I enjoyed the Jerk Mushroom Wrap with Seasonal Greens and Stewed Peas. Each dish was delicious! As a Jersey Girl, I loved the underlying diner-style vibe of the cafe. We had a booth in the back with a view of the cafe and the bar with countertop for service and a wide selection of rums and whiskeys. I tried the rum punch and the Coco (can’t remember full name), both were great. There’s another drink option which supports rebuilding an area in Jamaica. Highly recommend it too.

An authentic experience. We came here for brunch and had such a great experience. Ambiance: Feels like a Caribbean diner. They play great music. The booth were comfortable to sit in and half are right by the window so it’s nice to look out. Service: service was fast and efficient. Food also came out within reasonable time. Food: We got all the veggie options on the menu. The coconut pancakes were good but I think they needed more coconut. The coconut part felt like only the flakes on top so once those were gone you were just eating regular pancakes. The pancakes were nice and fluffy. We also got the jerk corn, it was so well flavored. Note, it comes on the cob. The jerk fries were good, the jerk seasoning was yummy but the fries felt a little average. We also got the vegetable roti. That was definitely the highlight of the meal. I loved the variety of vegetables in it and they were all well cooked. The curry was on point and the loved the texture of the roti. They have a great bottomless brunch deal, $25. We didn’t try it this time but will definitely try next time. Insta: @TheShahLALand

A great, casual spot with cool vibes for Jamaican food. We went for brunch and loved it. I've had my fair share of Jamaican food in NYC and Jamaica and will share that while there was a different twist, food flavors were on point. We shared the Jerk Chicken roti - a burrito stuffed with all the Jamaican flavors - and the Jamaican breakfast. The ackee and saltfish, steamed veggies and plantain were great. The only thing we didn't love was the festival (it was a little heavy...I prefer fried or boiled dumplings with this kind of breakfast). We both had sorrel ginger beers to drink. These were fine (light on the sorrel flavor). Service was lovely and the decor and music just right.

Miss Lily’s is one of the most consistent Jamaican restaurants you’ll find in Manhattan. Everything on the menu is always available which is rare for a Jamaican spot! The food is very good, and you can tell they take pride in maintaining quality. The aki and saltfish leans more on the saltfish side they’re not too heavy on the aki but it’s still delicious and well-seasoned. The roti is always soft and fresh, which is a big plus. The decor really captures the vibe of a bar straight out of Jamaica colorful, lively, and full of energy. On weekends, there’s usually a live DJ playing great dancehall and reggae, adding to the island feel. Overall, Miss Lily’s delivers both in atmosphere and flavor a must-visit if you want a true taste of Jamaica in NYC. 🇯🇲🔥

I’ve visited for brunch before, but I’d always wanted to experience dinner here—and during Restaurant Week, it did not disappoint. The thoughtfully designed décor and inviting ambiance set the perfect tone for our meal. We dined later in the evening, which gave the space a calm, relaxed energy, complemented by the smooth sounds of old-school reggae playing in the background. The cocktails were both strong and well-crafted, adding a nice touch to the evening. I wouldn’t recommend this spot for parties larger than four indoors, as the space is more intimate. The outdoor seating can accommodate groups up to six, though it did appear a bit snug. If you’re craving authentic Jamaican cuisine, this is a must-visit. According to my partner—who may be slightly biased as a proud Jamaican—it’s home to the best jerk chicken in all five boroughs.

The BEST meal I had during my last visit to NY! I had the pleasure of dinning at this gem during restaurant week! Everything about it is a win! Let’s first start with the amazing service! Every staff was friendly and provided recommendable service from the moment we walked in! The ambiance : they have a corner spot so it’s perfect for those that like to enjoy a meal outside. The patio area is cute as is the indoor area. Think bright colors and carribean vibes! Now for the food- simply put, I was blown away! Admittedly I was not expecting much from this spot, but boy was I wrong!! I started with a watermelon salad and ordered the jerk chicken with veggies as my main meal! Now I know you are thinking what can be so special about a watermelon salad? It was just good! I appreciated every ingredient included ! It was very refreshing. My favorite part of the meal was the jerk chicken. Hands down the BEST jerk chicken I have ever had! It is tender and full of flavor !! When I say I finished this meal and left no crumbs it was that good!!! My sister had the jerk mushroom lettuce wraps. Her entree was the friend snapper and to end it off she had rum cake! I have to admit I enjoyed my meal more ! However her food was good too! I really enjoyed the aioli sauce that accompanied the fish entree. NOTE: for restaurant week you can opt to order off the restaurant week menu. It is 3 courses for $45! The only item I would not order again is the rum cake! It was not your traditional Caribbean rum cake. It is more of a white cake with coconut flavors. I could not taste the rum. While the cake was moist and generally a good cake/ it was just not what I expected for rum cake. To sum everything up, you MUST visit Ms. Lilly’s!! It’s 10’s across the board for me ! I will be stopping by the next time I am in the city? There is so much I want to try!

Came for the restaurant week brunch. Excellent ambiance, DJ/music, food/drinks, and service! I enjoyed a three-course meal — Codfish fritters, Jamaican breakfast, and coconut cream rum cake. I drank a rum punch. Everything was flavorful! Definitely returning for brunch and other dining times.

I can’t say enough good things about the good eats, service by our waitress Bri, and atmosphere at Lily’s Restaurant. As a person that has to eat gluten free foods, I was pleasantly surprised to find several GF options on the menu! They were all YUMMY!!! They even have a chocolate GF dessert option that was rich and plantain based! I can’t wait to go back there. Great experience!

Really enjoyed my experience at Miss Lily’s 7a. I came here for the first time in 2018foir a birthday brunch and remember the food and drink being fantastic. Today (2026), I came again and was happy to see that not much had changed. Today I had the jerk chicken and the tamarind glazed plantain. My husband did the restaurant week deal with codfish fritters, jerk hash, and coconut cream cake. We also indulged in the boozy brunch deal for $25 bottomless drinks. The jerk chicken was really good, and a great portion. The sweet potato jerk hash was a little lighter but it still was a nice serving. Everything we had was delicious. The best drink was definitely the rum punch. The only problem with the restaurant is that it’s pretty small and there are some tables that feel on top of each other. Otherwise the staff was friendly and the music was good.

I really did like my experience there and the food was great. I love Caribbean food and what drew me in was that it reminded me of my time in Limon, Costa Rica. I was there for business and thought it would be a unique place for my co-worker who usually doesn't like Caribbean flavors but she enjoyed the corn appetizer and the Salmon. The staff was super nice and attentive and I can't wait to come back!

Ambiance was nice. Good music for brunch. Rum punch was good. However, as a person of Caribbean descent, I could find better Jamaican food in Brooklyn/Queens/The Bronx.

Nice little spot serving up Jamaican fare and rum cocktails in a colorful diner setting. I went for brunch and had the jerk chicken. While tasty, it was lacking the scotch bonnet heat I was expecting - and would’ve liked on a cold day like today. Fortunately, one of their rum drinks, which was also very good, warmed me up nicely.

Great vibes at this Jamaican restaurant located in the East Village. Awesome ambience with groovy tunes. Waitstaff are friendly and nice. Good selection available on the menu with a bit of Asian fusion twist, although without a doubt, the food is overseasoned and tends to be on the expensive side given the amount of food served.

M
Monte H

Ox tail portions were generous but a bit on the fatty side. Service was on point, as was the music. Cocktails were good too. Not as good as Stella's in Park slope but miss Lily's is a NYC staple and I recommend it.

B

First time here. Located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, it has a lively decorated exterior, and is located across from Tompkins Square Park. I enjoyed my spicy shrimp appetizer and coconut shrimp entree. Hostess was great and service was above average. I would return and recommend it for anyone looking for a Caribbean dining experience in the LES.

M
Marica -

The food was well made, the Chicken Roti was good and the green sauce was amazing. I recommend the the cod fish fritters to start, the curry sauce was great had to get extra. The oxtail and rice/bean was really good meat was tender. If you like super spicy this is not it, but it is expected for a restaurant. The drinks were good( rum punch). And FYI....have ID and proof of vaccination to dinner inside...but if you don't the outside dining was comfortable...it was enclosed with heaters...wished there was music tho! All in all the food was good, staff was super friendly and knowledgeable.

Miss Lilly‘s café had a large outdoor seating area, which was really nice to shelter from the rain and catch a nice cool summer breeze while eating. Indoors, the music was pretty loud. The food was OK… But not what we expected.

We went for my cousin’s birthday. The positives. The service was outstanding. We were seated immediately. A manager upon seeing our attire, asked about what we were celebrating and gave us a complimentary toast. The waitstaff were professional and courteous and prompt. Our food arrived quickly and was hot. The slight constructive criticisms. For the price the decor could be a little better. Comparable Caribbean Restaurants in NYC have a better decor. The food was good not great just good. It definitely felt Americanized. Overall it was a good experience

Great chill vibes at @misslilys on a Thursday night for dinner! I don’t have Jamaican food often but this place was yummy! The fritters were oily at all and you could still taste the freshness of the fish. Perfect as an appetizer! Really enjoyed my shrimp curry and the portion was huge but I wanted to finish it because it was so tasty! A nice mix of Indian and Jamaican cuisine. Thought the roti was alright so I didn’t finish that piece. Fun place that represents LES quite well 😊

I want to say I came here on a Friday night while I was in Dubai in June. By the time I got there, there were no more tables available, but I was able to put my food order in before the kitchen closed. They held my food for me until I was ready to go. I stayed and danced a little bit since it had turned over to the club part of the night. They did play some good music, and it was a good little vibe. The staff was friendly enough to me as well. I met some people while I was there and enjoyed myself. The food seemed a little expensive to me coming from the states, but they did give large portions, though. It didn't taste like any jerk chicken I've ever had before, but it was still seasoned well. I would come back here the next time I'm in Dubai, but I would be sure to get there earlier the next time.

The food is DELICIOUS! Portions are generous. Miss Lily's has a diner feel - not fancy... but don't be fooled. The staff is very friendly. Carrie was our waitress - she was perfect! The bathroom is a bit dark and small, and that's the only negative.

I’ve been here a few times this is the first time I’ve eaten food. Every time in the past I I either did appetizers or just drinks. I also typically visit in the evening time when there is usually a DJ. This time around I happen to pass by for Sunday brunch. The service and music was great as always, but the food miss the mark in my opinion. As a Caribbean person, I feel like the food is probably a 5 out of 10. If you’ve never had Jamaican or Caribbean food I feel like this could be 8-8.5. I will be back, but probably just for drinks and to enjoy the music and the great service.

d

I enjoyed the music they played. I ordered a mixed drink, Oxtails & Macaroni & cheese. The drink was ok. I liked the Oxtails they were very flavorful but I did not like the mac & cheese. The service was great. I might come back but I definitely would order something different.

My friends and I wanted to go to a restaurant to get good oxtails so we came along this restaurant. We had a fabulous time. This was my first Jamaican meal and it was a treat! My choice of drink was the Miami Vice which was half frozen strawberry daiquiri and pina colada. It was delicious. We ordered the cod fritters. We all enjoyed them. Then I ordered the classic dish Jamaican Oxtail stew. It was very delicious. Our waitress was very friendly. We all had a great time. We really enjoyed our food and we all agreed we would come back to this restaurant.

If you are West Indian or love West Indian Caribbean vibes and good, it's hard not to love this place. Some of you may remember the older spot on Houston Street years back and if you do, or you have been there, you know what to expect - respects to my fellow brothers and sisters from "di ol' spot and ting". 💪🏾 For the uninitiated - what can I say but come hungry! 😂 No, seriously, come with an empty stomach, it's best because you might find yourself wanting to eat with your eyes rather than your mouth. Anyone from another country can tell you that it's nice to go to a place that can for a bit, make it feel as though you haven't left your home country.

We came here for a large group brunch on a Saturday. They took great care of our party of 12. They gave us a prix fixe menu that included an entree and unlimited drinks. The jerk chicken and the breakfast burrito were the best by far in my opinion. The drinks were good and not too sweet. Very lively atmosphere with a great, friendly vibe. Would definitely come back!

R

Staff was nice, food was okay. I had the oxtail but it wasn't Jamican oxtail. It was more of a browning flavor. Drinks were good. I was there during restaurant week and in-between brunch and lunch so multiple menus. Place is very small, music was loud so you can't really talk.

The food is extremely amazing here, however I could not get past the sarcastic host, and I noticed how my boyfriend & I were greeted versus white people that came in… I’m from Texas so that’s common just not from people who look like me…. The server was very dull to no enthusiasm but overall I wouldn’t dine here again id definitely order to go because the food is amazing

A quaint spot for good W.I food. Fusion elements, unique drinks and a fun party trick at 11pm. Make Jerk Chicken Spicy again. Ended up spending 3+ hours and $300+ on a great Friday evening out. Hostess politely informed me of whenever I was making her life difficult, which is understandable. This is a certified hood classic.

Nice and helpful serving staff. Check Delicious drinks. Check Great ambiance and vibes. Check Visually pleasing dishes and plating. Check Great tasting food? Ehh... The food in my opinion was pure mid. If this is your very first time eating Jamaican food, it might taste delicious, but as a person that grew of on it....sigh The food was bland. The jerk pork was just tasted like baked pork w some flat jerk sauce. The fried plantain tasted microwaved for some reason? And the macaroni pie was insulting. The curry shrimp was my saving grace!! Delicious and full flavored with perfectly cooked shrimp and a decent roti. I’d definitely come back for some drinks! Super delish.

Been here a few times but this time was rather disappointing. Apparently they have a new chef and thus the menu has changed. They no longer have the Guyanese chow mein which was a fan favorite and what I was looking for as a dining option. So we settled for the jerk wings, cod fritters, oxtail and mac n cheese. Not enough butter beans in the oxtail and it was very fatty. We made the most of it although it wasn't satisfying.

S
Shana Marcell

It wasn’t a terrible experience but for the occasion I would have went for an upscale atmosphere. My family ate here on Mother’s Day and the waiter was kind enough to accommodate our party being that we showed up with more ppl than expected. I checked out the reviews before I order and ordered the popular dish , The Classic Jamaican Oxtail Stew I give this 6 out of 10. The seasoning wasn’t that good and the greens had no seasoning and were under cooked. The atmosphere was nice and the music was a vibe. Would I return possibly.

This is my second time at this location and I have to say. I was happy to be seated within 5 minutes of showing up with a party of three but, I was also disappointed that it looked as if we interrupted the hostess and the server as they were in a deep conversation when we walked in. Other then that small mishap Haley E. was a terrific server. The server was great she kept the drinks coming especially since we had the bottomless Rum Punch. Let me tell you this if you are not into Wray and Nephews and you do not like a drink that packs 2 punches. This strong and potent drink my not be for you but, then again it is delicious so you should give it a try. We started with three different appetizers: Cod Fish Fritters which were seasoned really well and airy. The Jerk Wings which were grilled and you could taste the char on them they were covered in a light glaze of Jerk BBQ sauce. The Jerk Pork Sausage was really spicy and tasty they give you 2 patties drenched in jerk bbq sauce. Which was great because I used some of the extra sauce on the wings. For the main course we had the Jerk Pork Bahn Mi was juicy and tender, the Fried Whole Fish was crispy and moist and the Jamaican Patty Melt melted in your mouth with flavor. Everything was very delicious. If you are into Reggae/ Dancehall music this is the place to come! You will be moving in your seat! I will definitely return to this restaurant!

I was told this place had amazing food so I decided to give them a try. I ordered several drinks which were all amazing and strong, but I wasn't too fond of the food or the service. I ordered mac and cheese but it was overcooked and dry. I ordered oxtails which had potential. The sauce was good and the meat fell off the bone my only issue is that 4/5 of my oxtails were covered in fat and I hate to eat fat. My main concern was my server Marianna. She started off good but after our food came out she did not come by to check on us and probably because she was too busy talking and playing with her co workers. At one point we seen her at the bar taking shots with the bartender meanwhile we were waiting for her to bring us out more dressing for my salad. You would think she would noticed we were annoyed because every-time we needed her she wasn't busy helping customers, she was busy joking with other employees so by the end of our dinner we were highly annoyed and ready to go. For the prices and service I honestly would say go somewhere else.

Alphabet City location is hipster-ish, but a little sketchy. Came here for the oxtail, jerk BBQ ribs, Mac/cheese and plantains. Everything looked good, but every entree and side was under seasoned and bland. No jerk in the jerk BBQ, tasted like bland Kraft BBQ sauce. No diet Coke, full sugar only. We went with the watermelon juice (pretty good actually) and ginger beer (lemonade with a kick). Tables are tiny and it's noisy, but adds to the hipster, faux-carribean vibe. Maybe come for the Red Stripes, but can't say it was event worthy. Staff was polite and responsive.

The atmosphere was nice- the music was good, but if you are looking for authentic Jamaican food, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. The food was not bad, but it did not taste like I was at a Jamaican restaurant at all. My family and I were disappointed.

When I say I am so disappointed that the quality of Miss Lily’s food has gone down. This was a restaurant I used to visit all the time before the pandemic. I went there last night and the jerk chicken had no seasoning or jerk flavor at all I couldn’t even finish eating it. The only this that was good was the corn and pina colada. The fries and Mac and cheese were ok. I will definitely not return.

N
Nicolas Kitchin

Miss Lily’s did not live up to any of my expectations. The food lacked authentic Jamaican flavor. The Jamaican-ness of this place stops at the decor. No Jamaican would eat the food and not complain after. I hesitated to say this place is overrated but it is. The Wait staff was aloof and nonchalant at best. The best part was the drinks at the bar. The food portions are sizable but a bit overpriced.

B
Briannie Garbey

I recently discovered some disheartening news: Ms. Lilly’s has discontinued making jerk ramen. I implore you to reconsider and either reintroduce it to the menu or display the recipe, as I raved about it so much that it became a popular choice. Besides the macaroni and cheese, I kindly request that you promptly restore jerk ramen to your offerings. 😩😩😩😩

Palm Sunday Dinner Date with the Hubby. I had saw this place on IG but despite the mixed reviews decided to give it a try than our usual go to for our cultural food. Came all the way from BK. The atmosphere and Staff are very welcoming. Does have touches of JA around the space. It was VERY loud with the music boxes and ppl so close by us talking. I could barely hear my Husband. It wasn’t until towards the end of our visit they played reggae or JA artists. It was all Afrobeats. The cocktails were good. The food is not authentic sadly the entrees we ordered the meat was tender but not stewed at all. It just tastes like meat in gravy. The “seasoning”came from the gravy. No spice or kick at all. Roti skin had no dhal. The salads we got as appetizers were good however Hubby stated the shrimp was rubbery.

U

Came for an early Sunday dinner with a friend. The place was semi-empty, dark-ish, with no music at all. The service was fine, but the food was quite disappointing, especially for the price. We shared cod fritters as an appetizer, but it was too salty, and the sauce it came with had a questionable consistency and taste. Then, we both had jerk chicken. It was eatable, but not great or memorable in any way, and certainly wasn't worth the price. The rice and beans that came with it didn't have much taste at all. I really don't understand where all these 5-star reviews came from.. It was really sad to sit in a dark, soundless environment with not that many customers around.

C
Christopher Gibbs

This used to be a prime spot, but since the menu changes and closure of previous locations it has gone away from its signature dishes such as the shrimp curry and roti, shrimp or chicken guyanese lo mein and etc. To be a Caribbean restaurant with meatless curry insane. I find it hard to see me come back unless they revert to previous way.

Jake Mullin

I want to share a negative experience I had at Miss Lily’s on Sunday, 10/19/25 around 3 PM. It was very busy in the East Village due to the Halloween dog parade, and I came in to ask the hostess if there was outdoor seating for 2. She said yes, in about ten minutes, and I said great, we’ll wait. As she was running around I told her, “I’m just going to go to the bathroom.” When I came back, I stood back in line, and the hostess called another group to be seated. When I got to the front, she looked at me confused and said, “Can I help you?” I told her I was on the waitlist, and she asked for my name and looked at her tablet. I was confused because I had just spoken to her and she hadn’t asked for my name earlier. When I explained that, she got a nasty attitude, acted like I was cutting the line, and even said to other customers, “They’re waiting too, you need to add your name to the waitlist,” with an obnoxious look. She then explained to me, like I was an idiot, that I needed to put my name down — even though it was her fault for not asking earlier. She completely gaslit me because she didn’t remember our conversation and embarrassed me in front of everyone. I was so turned off by her rudeness that I left and took my business elsewhere. I will absolutely not be returning here, no matter how good the food is — there are plenty of restaurants in the city where the hostess doesn’t treat you like crap.

Definitely give Miss Lily's a miss. Some staff are great, some aren't. One of the menus we were handed had a drinks menu on both sides, rather than food on one and drinks on the other. Waitperson looked at me like I'd grown a second head when I explained and requested another one. They, or the kitchen, then took forever. Others seated after us received their appetizers before us, and then their main course before our appetizers arrived. We both had the codfish fritters. My wife's were properly cooked, but mine were doughy on the inside. Our main course arrived. The jerked pork ribs were advertised as "slow cooked," but they were blackened, tough, and dry. (I brushed and flossed last night, but still spat out some char when brushing this morning.) The rice and beans could not have been more flavorless. Or chalky. The desserts were, as promised, coconut cake and banana pudding. Unremarkable. Two groups seated after us were served their three courses and had left before I got my check, which I had to ask for from someone other than our absent waitperson. This was after a more supervisory type person filled our water and addressed a few other issues. At $45 per person, none of this was really acceptable. You pay your money and take your chances, I guess. A hazard which is only increased, I dare say, by what I believe to be the purchased 5-star reviews that skew the rating so heavily. I'm going to double down on my usual practice of sorting from lowest to highest when checking out a place, now. Lesson learned.

D
David Anthony

They were constantly rushing us and the service people were super rude. I wouldn’t recommend anybody to book more than two people there because they will just tell you to go away during dessert. I think they should really focus on rehiring.

A

I came to miss lilys for dinner and I was very disappointed with everything. The food was bland and cold. The drinks were watered down and full of ice. We came as a work party and when we got there on time our table wasn’t ready which was fine it was about 20 of us, however we were rushed the entire time we were there. Where the manager rudely came up to us while we were eating desert and told us that they had another party coming and that we needed to leave. My advice to you guys is not to accept such a large reservation that was made in advance annd book another party within an hour from each other. You can’t expect a dining experience of only 45 minutes, for such a large party, it’s rude and unrealistic. Would not come back at all.

B
Byron Norment

They sat us down at 4:15. Gave a two choice menu. Then kicked us out at 5 for reservations. Not even enough time to eat. Never stated that when sat. Ordered drinks and paid grautuity without a chance for food. Trash service.

Disappointed with Miss Lily’s 7A Café – Not Authentic Jamaican Food I was excited to visit Miss Lily’s 7A Café after seeing it featured on the Food Channel as the #1 best place to eat Jamaican Jerk Chicken. As a Jamaican living in New York, I had high expectations for an authentic experience. My husband and I made reservations, which required a $25 deposit. When we arrived, I ordered the pepper shrimp as my appetizer and jerk chicken as my entrée, while my husband chose the oxtail. The presentation of the food was beautiful, but unfortunately, the taste did not match the appearance. The pepper shrimp was a complete disappointment—just five shrimp drenched in an overwhelming pepper sauce with no real flavor. The highly recommended jerk chicken was grilled well but lacked seasoning, and the sauce tasted like a watered-down imitation of real jerk sauce. My husband’s oxtail was also bland and lacked the rich, slow-cooked flavor you expect from a proper Jamaican dish. There is no way the owner(s) of this restaurant are native Jamaicans, and the cooks are definitely not Jamaican. This is not authentic Jamaican food, and it doesn’t even come close. I was extremely disappointed and will never visit again. I also won’t be recommending Miss Lily’s to family or friends. If you’re looking for real Jamaican food, this is NOT the place.
