The best baklava I've ever had. Everything else is top notch too.
Delishious Armenian food and wine! Friendly and attentive staff.
Consistently superior food and service. Very nice family run restaurant.
The dumplings were absolutely 💯 👌 AMAZING a must have trust me

Great Armenian food. You will leave stuffed
When you eat at Sevan you feel like you've left the city. This is a warm and friendly family-run restaurant with delicious Armenian food. They specialize in kabobs of marinated meat from recipes passed down from the owners father who had a restaurant in Armenia. The meal started with bastruma -- a cured beef and sujuk -- an Armenian sausage. We had stuffed grape leaves and feta cheese as well. We had a carrot salad, and Armenian salad which is similar to a Greek salad but with a special spice that they import exclusively so you can't get it in the states. The kebabs are grilled an open flame. We had the chicken and the beef, which were both very good. My favorite where the baby lamb chops which were spectacular served with an open flame tableside. They're baklava with some of the best I've had in New York. It's not too sweet and it's not dripping. In addition to the restaurant, they run a little grocery store next door. You can buy cheeses and cured meats and groceries and nuts and fruits, Etc. They also sell Savory and sweet pastries.
Ordered lamb, chicken and the beef kebobs for a party. It was all DELICIOUS! Generous portions and the owner was extremely helpful on what to order and how much to get. Will definitely order from them again!
Excellent food and service. They have hosted multiple parties for my family, our guests and I have always been impressed with the excellent quality of this location.
Just finished eating here with my fiancé. Absolutely delicious, the steak and chicken kebabs were perfectly cooked. The owner was very friendly.
Best food! Best prices and best service. They gave a big hall perfect for catering. Been going here for many years and will keep coming!
Great Armenian food, conveniently located off of the 495 in Bayside, Queens. Some of the best kebabs around!
Great food and great service. We had a small gathering after a christening nearby. Nice outdoor patio.
The Armenian good here is off the chain ! It’s perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.
I had my graduation/birthday party here and loved it! Great food, great service, and overall fantastic restaurant.
What an amazing experience! Delicious food and the owner and the staff are great generous people! Loved the place!
The Armenian food is really good, never had a bad meal here, you also Can’t beat the basturma here, it’s $22 a pound! Must try!
Food is really great, a bit pricey but nonetheless it was good experience
Incredibly warm and inviting, delicious food, highly personalized service. Excellent setting for family gatherings
Excellent service. Excellent food. The best BBQ in Kavkaz style in Queens or even in NYC.
Food was great. Service excellent. Was at a baby shower it was very nice.
Perfect food (grilled chicken and meat, appetizer, desert), wonderful service, it is an amazing place.
Very tasty Armenian cuisine and prompt courteous service. Well worth a visit.
Amazing food, both from the restaurant and from the bakery. Ive never left here unsatisfied.
Loved the food and the great service. The owner made me feel welcome.
This was some incredible food. The babaganoush was really unique with a smoky flavor.
fantastic food! Would definitely return here again!
What a treat! We came all the way from Manhattan for authentic home-cooked Armenian food (our first time trying it) and loved every single thing: the basturma, the kuifta, the lahmajun, the yogurt dip. And those were just the appetizers! The kabobs and the manti were tender and full of flavor. Everyone in the restaurant, staff and patrons, was super friendly and hospitable. The baklava and tea were the perfect ending. Yum!
Wonderful menu and friendly staff. Loved the interaction with the owner. Kept checking in with our table. Food was very authentic and delicious.
Had my daughter's one year birthday party here. The owner Arthur was incredibly accommodating, responsive and friendly. The place was immaculate. We preferred the back deck area. It was hot but the AC made it very comfortable. We initially told him 30 people but 45 ended up showing up and we had to let him know a week beforehand. They still accommodated us. The food was excellent. Would definitely recommend this place.
The restaurant is truly exceptional, with warmth and hospitality. The cuisine is excellent and super fresh with impeccable quality that sets a new standard. The waitstaff are genuinely friendly and provide service that is attentive, personalized, and above all, exceptional. Every aspect of our experience was met with a level of excellence
Food is excellent. Service is great. Come to celebrate your private parties, baby shower, bridal shower, birthdays. Sevan Restourant is the best.
Recently I had an occasion to leave my home in Massachusetts and travel to Queens for a memorial dinner at Sevan. I was very impressed. The restaurant had been set up beautifully into 10 tables with family style service. The wait staff was very considerate and accommodating. The food was exceptional and I particularly enjoyed the hommus. I probably could have made a meal out of that and pita bread, but the chicken and lamb were too tempting and delicious. At the end of the meal the Paklava was served and was some of the best I've ever tasted. Kudos to the chef and the staff. I hope to go back to the restaurant when I go to NY again.
Sevan was the perfect location for our family luncheon. Conveniently located to LIE. Food was delicious! Appetizers of dips, olives, feta & grape leaves were just like mom used to make. Kebabs were amazing! The owner and staff were attentive & friendly. Can't wait to come back. Thank you Sevan!
Great place, service and awesome food!!
I fell in love with the staff who served the food 😊💘. Specifically the girl was above and beyond, i mean if you waved your hands while you talk ( us new yorkers are good for that ) she wouldn't hesitate to come over at every turn to make sure you weren't calling her for more wine or food or whatever. Cant say enough good 👍 things . The food is also unbelievable 😋😋😋😋😋😋 Great experience!
We held a memorial luncheon at Sevan for about 45 people and it was an exceptional experience from top to bottom. From the booking experience, the prices, the indoor/outdoor space, the food, every member of the staff, it was professionalism of the highest level. A second mention for the food which was beyond expectations and generously portioned in a family style. We are so grateful and would not hesitate to return.
we had a memorial lunch for my dad at Sevan...it was fantastic! the food is fresh and delicious...the service is top notch...and the restaurant itself is a great space, including its backyard patio. i highly recommend this establishment! i will be back when in the neighborhood.
Had my dad’s 70th birthday here last night. Atmosphere is great, service great and food was amazing. Everyone left saying how good the food was and that they’d be back to eat. Such a good find in the neighborhood!
Artur is very friendly owner and the food is great. Love getting the lahmajun, the lamb is also amazing. Wish I could come here more!!
Our fam ate dinner here a few weeks ago .... super delish! The Sevan steak was cooked perfectly, the chicken kabob rocked and the original chicken dish was perfect for our teen son. Hummus and kufta were great appetizers. Will def come again!
ARMENIA 🇦🇲 Eat the World NYC and Queens Tribune review: As cars hurtle past on the Long Island Expressway, just above it in Bayside is an "off ramp" to Lake Sevan, the most prized place in the hearts of Armenians. Often referred to as the "Armenian Sea" by residents of this landlocked country, it is a place of joy and pride, offering beautiful landscapes and delicious food. This spirit is the inspiration for Sevan Restaurant, opened and expanding since 2005, with foods made with such care that Armenians can almost feel transported back to their country. With its attached shop and bakery, most products and tastes from back home are available right here in Queens. ° Spices and marinades that remain family secrets are the draw here for feasts that include an array of grilled meats, salads, dumplings, and savory pastries. Bring a big group so you can try to enjoy as much as possible as portions are generous.
Held my dad‘s memorial service here at Sevan restaurant today and it was amazing. The service: The servers were very polite, professional and courteous. The food was outstanding, plenty of appetizers and entrees for the group. The chicken kebab was the star, so juicy and delicious. The venue is very classy, clean and perfect for any occasion. I highly recommend and will use again!
Walk into Sevan and you're entering an old friend's home. Warm, friendly staff greet you with joy. The menu is amazing, great variety and authentic. Have some baba ghanoush, hummus, pita and many options from lamb, chicken, lulikabob, and more. Great place to bring your entire family for a celebration, or just an intimate dinner with your guest. Great place for families with kids, even babies. Don't leave without picking up a few favorite items at their shop next door.
My husband and I frequent this place a lot. The sevan steak is amazing! The mushroom salad is one of our favorites so delicious, the Armenian salad is also really good and always fresh, and the salmon kebab so good and juicy. The food is delicious here and would highly recommend it to everyone.
Had my wife’s 40th birthday celebration with family at Sevan. We had eaten at this establishment early on when we were dating and she always loved the lamb and rice. We were seated in the back room, which was beautifully set up and she loved the ambiance. All 17 members of our party loved each course more than the last and the kids were raving about the various dishes. The service was superb and we were greeted by the owner throughout the meal to ensure we were all happy. We will be hosting more family functions in the future. The space can hold well over 100 people and surprisingly spacious.
This place is truly great for hosting special events with friends and family or simply to go try some of the best Armenian food! My sister had her bridal shower here and it was the best time. The staff were incredible, always making sure we were okay. The owners of this place were also very welcoming and friendly. Not to also say that the place is absolutely beautiful for hosting. Everyone has a great time and loved all the food. I will definitely be hosting more parties here in the future!!
Went out for a family dinner and it was amazing. The service was top notch and the food was amazing! Absolutely loved the decor too .Definitely recommend.
We got the mix kebab combo, appetizer combo and Armenian salad. The meats were all delicious, grilled very well, and were all very juicy, especially the lamb kebab! Salad and babaganoush were super delicious as well. They also served us baklava and a plum tart (?), which had just the right amount of sweetness, is homemade, and were excellent. Service was amazing; they took care of us very well. Atmosphere is nice - the back portion of the restaurant is well-lit (with good outdoor lighting) and also has some outdoor seating.
Food is amazing Atmosphere great, lamb chops and Armenian salad very refreshing and tasty
This is a great family run restaurant. They are extremely friendly and provide excellent service. All of the food is very fresh. They offer catering services for private parties in addition to the restaurant. I will definitely be returning for more yummy food.
We had an incredible dinning experience here. We traveled two hours from Brooklyn and it couldn't have been more worth it. The food was phenomenal and the waiter was knowledge friendly and attentive.

I had an amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, and every dish we tried was perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. The meat platter was the highlight. It was tender, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Tim was a great server and very thoughtful. Definitely a spot I’ll be recommending to friends and returning to soon!
My descriptions don't do justice to what they serve. Quality ingredients, tasty spice combinations, affordable costs, and pleasant service. Workers made our meal more than just food on a plate. Their meals demonstrate culinary bravery and appeal. This place delivers what it advertises.
Since moving out of state, Sevan is our first stop on the family Food Tour when we’re back in town. The perfect Mediterranean flavors, high quality meats, yummy Mezze appetizers, great wines, the absolute BEST salad, and most importantly, food our children crave and enjoy eating!!! Reminiscent of family dinners, Sevan has a modern take on generational favorites at an extremely fair price! Please Sevan, open a restaurant near us in Charlotte!
The people notice what you need in a space that feels just right. The worker's optimism genuinely improved my night. What an incredible spot I've found!!! Everyone finished their meals, showing how good it tasted. The workers demonstrate exceptional attentiveness with real care.
The evening gave us flavors to enjoy in a setting worth returning to. The workers were consistently attentive. Quality dishes alongside creative food options. This restaurant deserves special recognition beyond five stars. The place maintains honest flavor.
I've been here for different meals, and all were good. The staff performed with expertise and proper formality. The experience feels cohesive. This restaurant looks consistently good. If nearby again, I'll definitely eat here.
If you like traditional, George and cuisine, this is the restaurant for you. The food was amazing. The service was fast and courteous. I’m not crazy about the decor, but it’s just me.
I came with coworkers and our experience exceeded expectations. Order a variety to really enjoy the food. I've tried different menu items and found adequate quality. Someone deserves credit for this team's performance. This place provides satisfaction.
Among ordinary experiences, this place offers something precious. Every dish arrived properly prepared and flavorful. If I'm nearby, this restaurant is getting my business. Accommodating, straightforward, and real. This restaurant is better with company.
Really nice middle eastern restaurant and a great way to try Armenian food. I brought my dad who had never had Armenian food before and is used to mostly eating Asian food. Ordered the salad, the dip platter and lamb chops. He loved everything! The Armenian salad is the most order here.
My family has been coming to Sevan for years. For the restaurant, take out as well as hosting large family gatherings. The food quality and service is always consistently great. Whenever i have a craving for kebabs and Mediterranean food, Sevan is my go to! Cannot go wrong with the armenian salad, dips and lamb/chicken kebabs.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Staff is friendly and professional.
First time here and totally enjoyable visit will come back again
The food was pretty good but what made it even better was the service. The waiters were extremely nice & attentive. I would definetly come back
Never had Armenian food before, but, it was delicious. Imagine if Persian, Turkish, and Greek food had a baby. Had the mixed grill for 6 and we had planty of food left over. You won't be disappointed.
Lovely Armenian restaurant. Service was efficient and attentive. Hummus/eggplant combination platter delicious.
Fine dining experience. Food was delicious and the staff were warm and friendly.
Atmosphere is good, food is ok. Very limited on deserts. The prices are higher than typical similar restaurants.
Great little place. The service is very attentive, kebabs are wonderful. We do not eat rice but the kebabs and grilled vegetables (although there were few of them) were excellent. Tabbouleh and mushroom salads were very good. The baba ghanouj needed a little something for flavor but was still delicious. The back patio is a must - so beautiful. A great place to bring a ton of people. Also a wonderful place to have a party.
Sevan is a great place to go to for great tasting dining and catering. Service is beyond excellent and any concerns are addressed. Well behaved waiters ensure a comforting dining experience. Besides the stellar service, Sevan never fails at providing an elegant atmosphere with their disciplined decor. The best part of the whole experience is the food. I used to go to afghan or Turkish restaurants to satisfy my middle eastern cuisine desires. However, Sevan's Armenian oriented middle eastern food is by far the most flavorful food I've had. Fantastic appetizer options before you have the main course. Definitely consider for family affairs RECOMMENDATION: Their rice and chicken with some babaganush (grilled eggplant) on the side and s nice glass of coke. Yum!
This is a good shop.. I never visited the restaurant.. I think it is an Italian restaurant but we always go the the shop attached to the restaurant.. they are good people.. kind and courteous.. they advise us what to buy .. few days back I want to buy cooking oil and I wasn’t sure which one will be good.. the guy there suggested to try grape seed oil which I did and it turned out very well.. I always use grape seed oil whenever I cook now.. thank you so much and we will visit again soon...
Food is great, the menu isn't too big which shows they focus on a certain amount of dishes which means generally they take pride and the dishes are bound to be good. The branzino could use more oil, although don't get me wrong, it wasn't dry! But it did not come with a lemon like other places😮 but the waitor there is super nice and took care of us well overall.

I recently visited Sevan Restaurant & Catering in Oakland Gardens, a long-standing Armenian restaurant located along Horace Harding Expressway in Queens. As someone who has explored restaurants and food cultures across more than ninety countries, I am always interested in places that represent regional traditions that are less commonly seen in mainstream dining scenes. Armenian cuisine falls into that category in the United States, which made this visit particularly interesting. The restaurant itself has a warm, neighborhood feel. The interior is modest but comfortable, with a layout that feels more like a family dining room than a modern, trend-driven restaurant. It is clearly a place that locals return to regularly rather than a destination designed primarily for tourists. That sense of community adds a layer of authenticity to the overall experience. The menu focuses on traditional Armenian and Eastern Mediterranean dishes. Grilled meats play a central role, with items such as shish kebab, lamb chops, and chicken kebabs cooked over open flame. The quality of the meat and the simplicity of the seasoning allow the ingredients to stand out. Dishes like hummus, baba ghanoush, and fresh salads provide balance and reflect the broader regional culinary influences that Armenia shares with neighboring cuisines. Service felt welcoming and straightforward. Staff were attentive without being overly formal, and the pacing of the meal allowed time to enjoy the variety of flavors that come from the grilled items and mezze-style starters. From a global travel perspective, the experience reminded me of small family-run restaurants I have encountered throughout the Caucasus and parts of the Eastern Mediterranean. The emphasis is less about presentation and more about hospitality and traditional cooking methods passed down through generations. Overall, Sevan Restaurant & Catering offers a solid and authentic introduction to Armenian cuisine in Queens, particularly for diners interested in exploring culinary traditions that are not widely represented elsewhere in New York.
The atmosphere: The restaurant is very pretty inside...chandeliers, white tablecloths, mood lighting and beautifully decorated walls...simple yet elegant. I presume it was the owner with whom my friend and I spoke...a really lovely and attentive man with a charming sense of humor. We were the only 2 people in the restaurant when we arrived at around 6:45 p.m. and it remained that way till we left after 9 p.m. We actually did not mind. It's a midsized room, one of two, that accommodates approx 85 people. The food: I ordered the mixed grill combo of chicken, pork and beef (lule and steak chunks) along with Basmati rice and some grilled squash. Unfortunately, despite telling me that none of what I ordered was spicey in any way, the chicken was well beyond my level of "heat" tolerance. Ashame really because it was probably some of the most moist and tender chicken chunks (kebab cuts) that I've had in ages. My friend also felt it was a bit spicey but it was fine for her. When I explained the dilemma, there was an immediate and genuine apology and an offer of a chicken breast as a substitute. Moments later two thinly pounded and well herbed chicken cutlets appeared. Unfortunately (and I do really feel sad to write this) the cutlets were quite dry, as was the steak. Additionally, we had ordered Pelemi, a Russian meat dumpling dish, and the Armenian pizza as appetizers but they were both a bit bland. Still, I will return to try this restaurant again because I did enjoy the rice and lule and, thanks to our new Armenian friend, we had a very nice time. Besides, I feel quite confident that there are other offerings on the menu that I will find delectable. I think next time I'll try the grilled salmon. 😉
Being Armenian we thought it would be like going home. Well not really! The hummus was very heavy on the Tahiti and needed olive oil on top. Babaghanoush and lahmajoon were not bad at all. The meat platter was of good quality tender meats. The greatest disappointment was the Manti!! Not crunchy enough, with a tepid chicken broth and topped with some yogurt and a tomato sauce which tasted like it was from the bottle or the can! A so-so raw sujuk was not worth its $15.95 price! And then the lack of Armenian wines except for TAKRI from Nagorno-Karabagh which was undeniable and left half of it! All this for $50 per person in a tired environment more suited to banquets is not worth another visit, thank you very much!!!
They are completely unable to handle food allergies. We were attending a family birthday banquet. My wife called ahead of time to inquire whether the menu included any nuts as our kids have severe allergies. She was told that there will be no nuts. However, when we arrived, there was a plate with a salad that contained walnuts straight in front of us on the table.
I walked into the "business" where there was no one to greet me and it looked like a common take out deli counter. I called to a short balding man that was coming towards me from an outside patio in the back. I knew it was raining so that wasn't an option and so I asked if there was a connected indoor restaurant. This short bitter man told me everyone must say "hello" first and then proceeded to ignore my only pertinent question. Because I was wearing my company logo this guy says if you're "selling something we don't want it". I can only conclude that he is not quite as abrasive if he's sure he's talking to a paying customer. I was and he's an angry assumptive fool. I am in sales but on the residential side Not commercial and just wanted a nice meal.
I ordered chicken kabobs and salmon kabobs too much prices for that kind of food NOT WORTH and they didn't even give any kind of sauce 😔
Food was solid, but owner got them a one star for his remarks, a REAL Armenian, would be more welcoming.
