Enjoyed the performance and had a memorable family gathering experience. They have beautiful garden setting. We had a very nice server and excellent entertaining chef (Bob). Kansan dish with fried rice was delicious.
Delish Food Cuisine 😋 we had a good time.. Thank u for the Sweet Birthday dessert .. 😊😊 our Chef tht day 💙is truly exceptional - we’re lucky to have such a talented chef ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of my first Teppanyaki experiences and it was awesome! The service is really what makes this an amazing experience. The chefs are super entertaining and skillful. I wouldn’t say that the food is exceptional but the service really enhances it!
Great place to take the fam, friends, business clients. Great dining experience, awesome food. I didn't get his name, but the guy that came through and serenaded us... Absolute cherry on top of the evening.
Mikado is a fantastic restaurant and a first class dining experience! Our team was greeted by the head chef who actually serenaded the whole table to Stevie Wonder’s “ I Just Called To Say I Love You”. Although the entrees are all $50 plus, you do get your moneys worth. All of the entrees come with soup or sales, a shrimp appetizer and some of the best seafood and or steak that you can get. The food was awesome, the chef spectacular and we all had a great time. I had a scallop and lobster combination that was mind blowing. The food was fresh with perfect seasoning. Everyone enjoyed their meal and there were plenty of to go boxes at the end of our experience. If you want an awesome dining experience then Mikado is for you.
Excellent service and the food was really good. We had tempanyaki reservations, worth it! Our chef was funny and kept us entertained. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and they brought out a dessert for us at the end of our meal. Really appreciated everyone at the restaurant, made us feel so welcomed. This restaurant is located at a Marriott Resort, very beautiful, come early so you can take a boat ride! Beautiful Resort!
Coming in here, the place looked really cute. Perfect place for a date night. Expect to do a little bit of waiting even if you make a reservation but it's worth it. There's also a little lounge room where one can go and order a snack and drink while waiting. The food is really good. I had the scallops and they were pretty sizable and yummy. For a starter, I highly recommend their spring rolls and beef skewers. The Teppanyaki chefs do a great job and are very entertaining. The servers are attentive. Plus, their birthday treat was a tasty orange-flavored surprise! Best green tea ice cream!!
First time i was trying Japanese cooking right in front of me and what an experience this was. Amazing combinations of food, from incredibly cooked rib eye steak with butter and fried rice to possibly one of the best calamari steaks i have had in recent years. You need a reservation and it is a bit more pricey but is it ever all worth every dollar you spend here.
Arrive 30 minutes early and go straight to the lobby to enjoy the boat ride before your meal. The boat will take you to the restaurant(Mikado), the views are amazing and just before sunset it looks really romantic. Went for anniversary and they treated us to something extra at the end. Will definitely recommend to others.

Had a wonderful dinner here last night. The head Chef stranded us before dinner. Our chef was fantastic and the food was great. I highly recommend.mend this place. We took tge little boat over to the restaurant as well. (additional $10.)
Mikado is the place to be! Our chef was amazing and definitely talented at his craft. Food was great. I ordered New York steak and shrimp. 10/10. Highlight definitely when The Chef came to our table to sing to us. Only downside is for large parties they will not seat you until everyone has arrived. Definitely will recommend to everyone coming to the desert.
James, Tony, and Miguel made my date night with my partner great. The food was delicious, had great services! Drinks never stopped and we felt very comfortable with my food allergies. Loved it all. Great experience cant wait to go again. Have to add my drink was great.

This is basically Benihana so if you know what it is you know what to expect. The idea is for a chef to cook the food in front of you on teppanyaki or a steel grill while performing some food acrobatics. It's fun for the first timers but gets old if you go often. The food is very similar but you are not allowed to order sushi on the table. The fried rice doesn't have chicken. And even though I made reservations but I still waited a bit before we were seated so I'm guessing they were trying to maximize the number of people seated together. What made this restaurant better than others is that it's located at the beautiful JW Marriott with a beautiful pond and a larger man-made lake so I'd suggest coming in the evening and taking a stroll afterwards. Parking is easy and free so I'm glad the parking is not in the typical hotel lot where everyone has to pay. There are some stairs from the parking lot to the restaurant.
We thought this was a sushi place, more like benihana. So we asked to sit away in the lounge for a normal dinner. Sushi was fine. Yellowtail collar was solid. They gave me option of putting quail egg on top of ikura. Sake decently priced. Lots of kids, loud. Pricey for the quality. At least they had temari for gluten free. 3.5/5

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Mikado Japanese Steakhouse, and my experience was a mixed bag. While the service was top-notch, the food was average and overpriced, and the restaurant's policies left a lot to be desired. The Food: Unfortunately, the food at Mikado Japanese Steakhouse was a letdown. The miso soup was overly salty, and the salad was saggy and unappetizing. The ginger dressing was watery and lacked flavor. My wife's scallops were met with indifference, and her exact words were "it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good." This lackluster food was made even more disappointing by the high prices. The Prices: Speaking of prices, Mikado Japanese Steakhouse seems to nickel and dime its customers for every little thing. Want fried rice? That'll be an extra $6 for a small bowl. This feels like a unnecessary add-on, and I would have preferred it if the restaurant had simply built the cost of the rice into the price of the meal. Alternatively, they could have provided a more generous portion size to justify the extra cost. The Menu: One of the biggest issues I had with Mikado Japanese Steakhouse was the lack of detail on the menu. I ordered the vegetable option, but I was not expecting tofu to be included. Unfortunately, this meant that I lost half of my portion size when the food arrived, as I don't eat soy. I would have appreciated it if the menu had provided more information about what was included in each dish. The Service: Despite the issues with the food and menu, the service at Mikado Japanese Steakhouse was exceptional. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, and did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The Verdict: Overall, my experience at Mikado Japanese Steakhouse was a mixed bag. While the service was top-notch, the food was average and overpriced, and the restaurant's policies left a lot to be desired. With a little more attention to detail and a more generous approach to portion sizes, this restaurant could be a real winner. As it stands, I would caution potential diners to be aware of the extra costs and to carefully review the menu before ordering. Rating Breakdown: Food: 2/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 2/5 Menu: 2/5 Overall Experience: 3/5 Recommendation: If you're looking for a Japanese steakhouse experience, I would recommend exploring other options in the area. While Mikado Japanese Steakhouse has some potential, the high prices and lackluster food make it a less desirable choice. However, if you do decide to dine here, be sure to carefully review the menu and ask questions about what's included in each dish.
If you want to entertain children this is a good place for Teppan cooking, but it is quite noisy. We had to wait a long time for a chef to cook at our group table. The service was slow. The food of average quality and at a high price. It is a pretty setting at the interior and exterior of the restaurant.

Mixed feelings. Food, and service was great. Yet the whole experience was extremely rushed. Came to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and we were almost literary shoved out the door, with a person washing the hot stove right in front of us. Nothing special was done for the birthday - I was told someone will sing - we got a small desert with a candle (tasty desert). Place is packed, and probably they need to rush us along. And just does not feel right. This was our fifth time in Palm desert, and first time I was lucky to get the reservation. Will not repeat.
Food was mediocre, nothing special. I also was not a fan of the dipping sauces they gave you compared to others I have had. The service was good and the chef was entertaining. The restaurant is very nice and has a pretty cool hidden garden in the back of the restaurant. This place is expensive though, I'm talking for a party of 3 was over $350. Yes we did get several appetizers but no alcohol or special drinks.

As we walked in there was a huddle of girls behind the front desk who asked if we had a reservation, we did and we were told to sit and wait. 20 min went by and they remained huddled and gossiping the entire time. Seemed like a very young and unprofessional staff upon arrival. The food is overrated. I have the same type of restaurant at home and this place will try to overcharge you for EVERYTHING. Extra $ for fried rice, extra $ for soup&salad. My hometown restaurant serves BOTH soup and salad with your meal NOT only one or the other and doesn’t charge extra if you want fried vs white rice. The cook had a bad attitude, he was an older Mexican fellow with lots of hair that was not pulled back and made me feel ill thinking about if it fell in the food. He needed a hair net very badly. The water from the fountains smelled gross as you were being walked to your table. Overall 2/5 the Mexican restaurant that we had down the street for quarter of the price had way better food and service.

Their food quality is pretty good. The chef was trying really hard to entertain the guests. However, the serving staffs and management were big disappointments. Our entire stay was less than an hour but they want us leave asap. They were standing right next to us and asking to take our dishes away even before we finish our meals. The deserts and bill came out without asking. The management didn't seem to care after I mentioned it. Disappointed.

My husband made reservations for 6:00pm. We knew very little about the restaurant except it's advertised as a Japanese steakhouse. When we arrived there was no greeting except for asking, are you staying at the resort, no. We gave our name and was told we could wait in the waiting area or the bar. We sat in the waiting area for 15 min watching other guests be seated and watching the other hostess pick under her nails with a toothpick that she plucked from the holder at the hostess stand. Finally my husband asked what the hold up was and was told I'm on the phone but she wasn't holding the phone, then raised her voice to say we have till 6:30 as he was walking away. Mind you, not one person explained they only serve teppanyaki style food. Never in my life have we seen and been subjected to such rude and dismissive behavior. We canceled our reservation and went to the Cork Tree, where we were pleasantly greeted and the food was fantastic.
