Steak egg rolls are sooo good. I had the cajun shrimp. Perfect spice. Good fries. Great service. We enjoyed it. Better than GOTL .

Everything was amazing. The only suggestion would be having a low anxiety steak. Having to pay attention to its cooking period to keep it med rare is kind of stressful. But in a fun way. It's hard to explain, but I def recommend it. The meat pizza ...delicious, delmonico steak on stone...delicious, creme brulee... delicious

Highly recommend! This place is a 5-star in my book. I had the chicken wrap with fries, paired with cheese dip—absolutely delicious. Our table also enjoyed a Reuben sandwich, which was huge. I got to try a bite, and it was fantastic! Next time, I’ll definitely be ordering one for myself. Great food and good drinks—can’t wait to come back!

I was in town 4 days ... visited this place 4 times. Great bar for a before game drink, other patrons were from all over so great place for chit chat. Beer was cold and food was very good. Suggest trying their signature item - steak cooked on a hot stone.

Steak on the stone was amazing. Lovely environment and Pittsburgh decor. Definitely a must-go for visitors.

I’d give North Shore Tavern more stars if I could. I’m already looking forward to the next time I eat there. We actually tried to make reservations before our show next month, but sadly the Pirates play that day and the post game reservation blackout eliminates our dining window. The food is amazing - especially if you’re sick of restaurants overcooking your steak and/or seafood. Your food never gets cold and you control how much it cooks (you’re given a side plate to move your food so it doesn’t cook more than you want). All the food was seasoned very well. Between the 3 of us, we had steak, salmon, scallops, shrimp, salads, beer, hard cider, & wine. Everyone loved their meals. The service was wonderful. Our waitress, Alisha Y., was great. She didn’t hover too much, but never left us waiting for anything. Her timing was perfect. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. If you like steak and/or seafood, you must eat there!!

This place is pretty lit! The food is outstanding! I eat out more than the average "foodie" and this is definitely in my top list. 5 hours from home, and I would definitely make the trip back just for this. Local Bar style setting, advertising the Pittsburgh Pirates and the history of the team. It's a casual and convenient place to grab an unusual bite. ORDER ON THE STONE! 👍

We absolutely loved this place. Best pork chop ever. Great mashed potatoes. Instead of cutting up his pork chop in bite size pieces as the server said to do, hubby cut it in strips to place back on the hot stone, so nothing was overcooked by the time he got to eating that part. He said it was so tender.

Ordered NewYork strip with scallops on a stone. Sweet potatoes fries, Caesar salad. We were told that unless we are willing to sit at the bar, waiting time is Two and a half hour (head to swallow). We sat at the bar and finished our food in 45 minutes. During all that time, several tables were empty all the time. Steaks were WoW. Scallops were memorable. Sweet potatoes fries were the best I’ve tasted. Waitress was welcoming and professional

I loved it here so much I went twice in week because I had to show someone else how great it was. The food was fantastic! The Steak on a Stone is well worth it. The burger I had was topnotch. If you love Pirate's baseball this place is super decorated with all kinds of cool Pirates memorabilia from all eras. Bring friends and family! They will love it.

A bit loud and busy, but the food was spectacular and the service was super quick and friendly. I had the slab steak. Best steak of my life!! 🥩❤️. The slab is so hot that you finish cooking your steak to your liking right at your table. Very easy and fun.

K

This was a fun experience. They have all these different hot stones options you can choose from and they bring your food out to not fully cooked and you let it cook on the hot stone till the doneness of your choosing. We had the Delmonico steak. Now I’ve been to Delmonico steakhouse in New York City and this steak tasted just like it. So tender and juicy. We also tried the Seafood combo. The Jumbo Shrimp and the Scallop had so much flavor. Now I’ve never had swordfish before it I feel like it lacked clover but after dipping it in the garlic aïoli it gave the flavor it needed. To finish things off we got chocolate chip cookie in a skillet. OMG it’s so good a soft warm cookies with vanilla ice cream it’s so good a must try.

We come here every so often for the steak on the stone. It's absolutely phenomenal. I do the steak, shrimp and scallops with all the sauces. The steak comes out basically raw and cooks on the stone to your liking. Great dining experience every time we go!

Best steak! Easy to do. Every one gets there own stone. Really enjoyed! Helpful friendly staff.

Paying homage to the steel workers who would (allegedly) bring a steak to work for lunch, slap it onto a cooling steel bar to sear it, and then flip it and repeat before eating, North Shore Tavern lives up to this age old tradition and modernizes it. A lightly (and deliciously) seasoned chunk of meat is brought out on a STEAMING hot stone. The aroma is amazing from the start. Grab your fork and knife, and then cut the meat into slices to finish up to your desired doneness. I opted for the lamb, and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a LONG time. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked exactly how I liked it, since I was the one finishing. Top it off with their chimichurri and it was literally worth writing home about ( I called my fiancée on the walk back to the hotel). Without a doubt a gem of Pittsburgh

Phenomenal! Absolutely one of the best steak eateries I’ve been to! Home of the steak on a stone, you cook your steak to your liking! Smoked pork nachos are huge and a meal itself! Delicious!!! 5 Stars!!! Also highly recommend the broccoli salad for a side.

What a place! Great food and great atmosphere. You've got to try steak or salmon on a hot stone. I think we had our food brought to our table almost within 5 minutes of ordering it. I was amazed how fast it was. And how delicious the food is. I'll be going here again, and bringing more people with me next time.

Great place. The prices are high. We had steak on a stone, burgers, white wine, and an amber ale (I think!). It was all very good. The waitstaff was friendly, the place feels unpretentious and could use a bit of warmth.

Food was fantastic. Wings, delmonico and shrimp, ribeye and scallops. Service was superior. We can't wait to go back.

I’m giving this an overall 5 star rating because the food was on point (I got the fillet and shrimp, ceasar salad, and spicy potato’s). We ordered the pretzels for an appetizer and they came with two dipping sauces (brown mustard and beer sauce). They only filled the beer sauce up halfway while generously giving the brown mustard. We requested more of the beer sauce and was charged a $1.00 for another half cup of the 1 ounce cup it was served in. Our server wasn’t that great and truly lacked in attention to details and responsiveness to our table. However, the hostess, Salem, did not disappoint whatsoever and really needs to transition to being a server because she was top notch and we really appreciated her conversation, polished, professionalism she brought to our table. We felt she deserved the bigger portion of the tip we left because she did the majority of the work.

Probably the best steak I've ever had. Excellent service, Jacorey is an amazing server and drinks are out of this world! Can't wait to go again.

I had a wonderful experience. I was able to have the time to actually cook my food hospitality was wonderful. The lemon drops were delicious. I would recommend my family going or even throwing a birthday party. Side note I got the delminco with shrimp. ❤️

Great filet mignon and scallops ‐ love the "on a stone" method so you can cook it exactly the way you want. The service was also great - very friendly and lots of tips on how to use the stone. And I loved the atmosphere - Pittsburgh sports memorabilia ... I'm old enough to remember watching Clemente and Stargell play.

Had lunch here today and really enjoyed it. Great steaks and seafood, reasonable prices, and solid atmosphere. What really stood out was the service - I needed a receipt copy later and Tiffany (Managing Partner) responded immediately and sent it over within minutes. That kind of customer service is exceedingly rare these days. Definitely coming back when I'm in Pittsburgh again.

I wasn't sure about all the hype, but I had the best steak of my life here. The cut of meat was phenomenal and being able to have every bite cooked to perfection was surreal. I had been given a tip that if you left the steak on the stone, it would continue cooking. So after cooking briefly, I took the steak off the stone and put it on the provided plate. I cut the pieces as instructed and would put on the stone to continue cooking to my exact preference. I ate every bite. My husband opted for a burger for some reason, but he said it was good. Hand cut fries and the pimento cheese pasta salad was good too. Fun signature drinks as well. Service was great. The atmosphere was interesting and comfortable.

Went in last week after Steelers game and left my wallet. Didn’t realize until half way home to Columbus, Ohio, called and Tiffany answered and said she would take care of it, mailed it to me and took nothing in return. Food and service were great but that was fantastic. Go back every chance I get.

A bit louder than I like but it was a bar across the street from the Pirates game that was about to start. The Steak on a Stone - strip steak with shrimp was out of this world. Cook to your liking at the table and have a unique one of a kind earpiece. Can’t recommend them enough

We were one of the first to enter when they opened and the service was smooth and quick. Enjoyed the food and company. Got very busy about 30 mins In due to game day, but still had a nice experience overall.

OMGOSH what a cool experience for restaurant week!! Both my wife and I ordered and thoroughly enjoyed one of the best egg rolls we've ever had dipped in au jous sauce, a New York strip steak on a stone, a fantastic way of cooking ur own steak the way you want on an 800 degree stone! Then topping it off with a DELECTABLE Tira misu cheesecake 😋 WOW I'd totally go back again!

North Shore Tavern has been one of our favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. The problem with most steakhouses is the steak gets cold after a few minutes, so you’re eating lukewarm meat majority of the time. With NST each bite is piping hot and you get to choose how cooked the steak is. It’s a great winter restaurant and reservations are easy to secure a few days in advance. Service is very fast and efficient even on nights like NYE. The portions are huge and it’s been consistently excellent quality over many years which is rare for any restaurant. Can’t wait for our next steak on a stone!

I went for my birthday & had the best experience ever. The staff was very friendly & made it a night to remember. The host, Angie, wished me a happy birthday & checked in on me throughout the night! Wonderful girl :)

This place is amazing. Love the food and the drinks. Have to say that our hostess, Angie, was equally amazing. It was a busy day due to the Steelers playing, but she was very friendly and helpful throughout! Loved her!!!

Nice steak chop s restaurant with a unique twist on presentation and meal prep They sear your meat and deliver on a 800 degree Lava Stone You finish your steak chop etc on the stone to your liking Fun and enjoyable way to have your steak! Atmosphere is sports bar all the way! The meat steaks and chops were tasty and tender Definitely worth a visit!! Literally across the streets from PNC park Pirates stadium Parking can be a problem!!!

It was nice. Was told it was a 1 hour and 30 minute wait, only ended up being like 15. Ordered the Left field lemonade, it was rather good. Food was good too, ranch dressing/dip was delicious! Quite the experience cooking your own food on a hot stone. Location is great!

M
Michael Briggs

4.5 stars. My tavern burger was OK, my wife's salad was great. It's a very cool Pirates themed bar loaded with photos and posters, across the street from the stadium. There were plenty of TVs. The people sitting around us mostly had the steaks on stone which were huge and looked delicious. Draft beers are served in 20 Oz glasses.

B

Restaurant was nice inside. Small pickup with the kids grilled cheese where the paper was still on the cheese! 😮 Stuff happens. But they made it right. Price for steak is a little high for a cook-your-own-on-a-stone

A great bar to hang out at in Pittsburgh right next to the Baseball stadium. Interesting vibes and great music. The food is very quality. I will say that it's great that the desert options are simple, but they did not match the quality of the dinner menu.

M

We had the crab and pita as a appetizer. Was good but very seafood tasting. I was installed you don't get enough pita chips for the dip. I had 10 oz New York strip meat was very good I had sweet potato fries which I hardly got any. The server said that was the last they had made he would bring back more and never did. The boyfriend had a filet mignon very good cut of meat regular french fries. It's nice cuz you can put your fries on the stone to keep them warm. Dips that came with the steak or not very good. There's a garlic aioli a chimichurri and a steak sauce. The garlic aioli was just a glob of mayonnaise is what it tasted like. The chimichurri I thought it wasn't that bad the boyfriend could not eat it. The table next to us said that the steak sauce wasn't bad but it wasn't their favorite. We also have the creme brulee as a dessert. That was very good.

Overall not a bad experience and I don’t regret going I just wouldn’t be in a hurry to return. The restaurant seems like a ‘try it’ experience, ok for every now and then. Cooking your own steak on a stone isn’t for everyone and just be prepared to smell like a kitchen because the ventilation is not great and everyone has sizzling steaks on their tables you will smell like it leaving. The appetizer was the best- dill pickle pizza. Very good. The delmonico was average not a ton of flavor as I usually experience with delmonicos and the scallops were not seasoned at all- no flavor no butter. The service was good and it was a nice date so no complaints just not blown away.

Love the ambiance, love the steak! The North Shore Tavern serves steaks on a hot stone, so you cook it to your desired doneness. My hubby and I shared the 14 oz Way - which was absolutely delicious. The drinks are quite strong - we had the Line Drive and a Wild Pitch Old Fashioned. Oh, also try their broccoli salad on the side. You won't be disappointed.

C

We had a family gathering there and we tried a lot of different dishes. All of the apps were devoured. Everybody loved the steaks on the stone. I got the meatloaf meal which was excellent. And the apple dumpling was soooo good! I don't recall anyone having a complaint. Good time!

J

Host helped fit us in 1 hour before our reservation time on a Friday night as we were running early. Server was great. Checked on us a lot and kept my water full. I was accidentally given a house salad instead of caeser. I never would have said anything. Server actually noticed after another person delivered our food and offered to replace it. I didn't want to waste food so kept it. Gave him an extra tip for being so attentive. Earl gray old fashioned: solid drink. Would get again. Pickle focaccia pizza: good. Crust was more thin vs. focaccia, but finished it no problem. Grilled chicken house salad: decent. Chicken was dry. Broccoli and bacon salad: amazing Surf and turf on a stone: "best scallops ever," shrimp great, steak quality cut. Wished there had been more seasoning on the steak, but that's preference. French fries: cold. Couldn't finish them, cold. Our fault for not saying anything. Apple dumpling with ice cream: I loved it a lot Overall would give them another try, especially because of great service.

My dining guest and I had such high hopes for this spot. We were seated promptly but it took a while to place a drink order. My melon cocktail was supposed to have vodka, but most certainly did not. We then placed our order of calamari and two stone steak dishes. The calamari breading was not burnt but the calamari was rubbery and dehydrated. The steaks came out promptly and they were great BUT nothing had salt! The steak was unseasoned and the chimichurri was mostly oil (and no salt). Towards the end of the meal I was able to flag down a waitress and get some salt. It made a world of difference. For the cost of the meal I was absolutely let down. This was also a night where no events or games were going on, and it was not busy by any means. I honestly could not recommend this to my friends.

R
Russell Thomas

The food was nothing to write home about and it took a long time for it to come out. Frantically went a few hours before a football game so trying to give some grace. The service forgot our silverware and rarely checked on us. I'd say it's worth it in a pinch. At least the beer is cold and the pretzels were halfway decent. But also benefits from its location near both stadiums.

E
Emily Killmeyer

I had mostly a wonderful experience! Went in to watch the football game and grab dinner. The girl who served me was lovely and the food was great! The only issue was one of the bartenders made a disrespectful comment towards me about my knowledge of football? I didn’t realize it was appropriate to diminish patrons who are minding their own business but to each their own. I became uncomfortable and left post haste but other than that it was lovely.

J
Joe D

We always wanted to try this place, and gave it two tries. The first time we sat at the bar, was a little busy, but not crazy. Waited for the bartended to stop talking and it took about 15 minutes+ to ask what we wanted. We ordered a beer and mixed drink. That alone took another 15-20 minutes. All in all, at least a half hour to get a drink. We weren't going to see how long food would take. Second time, even worse and ended up walking out. Each time was a different bartender and they always seem to have an attitude that the customer should be grateful they are even waiting on you. We read other reviews about the staff having attitudes and discounted it. Nope, they are spot on.

C
Chris Young

The hostess working January 4, 2026 is clearly lacking in common sense and competency… she lacks the ability to do her job. After waiting for 40 minutes… in the cold…. She told me I was the next 2 top table to be seated. She then approached a couple that arrived 20 minutes after I did, and told them they could have a 4 top table. When I got a mad, and confronted her about it, all she could say was “I made a mistake. You don’t have to yell at me.” - look lady… I wasn’t yelling. If I was yelling, people outside would have heard me. My voice was elevated, yes… but I wasn’t yelling. Not to mention- you asked for my name snd phone number, and put it in the tablet. How about you use the tablet to send a text when a table is ready- especially when are slammed? Isn’t that the point? Instead, all she could tell he was it would he another 20-25 minutes. You all lost my business that night, and going forward.

A
Ashley Bangs

Went here w my friend to stop and get a drink and share some food. As soon as we walked in the bartender was so rude. I ordered a drink after she cut me off trying to ask her a question gave her my id and she inspected it then asked for her manager (completely fine) set it down also rude and manager came over no hi hello or anything and asked for my friends id. My friend gave it to her and she accused my friend of giving a different id when she was suppose to be double checking mine. All around terrible terrible service and RUDE. Walked out simply because I don’t want to tip or pay for terrible service who acted like it was an inconvenience for them for us to stop by and grab something to drink and eat.
