I highly, highly recommend going here!! I didn't expect to find such a tasty and healthy conscious restaurant so close to a hotel!! True Food Kitchen has such a strong healthy food philosophy (not only gluten free, but also anti-inflammatory) that I found truly inspiring! I had the beet plant based burger and air fried fries. The plant based burger was so well made and flavorful, I forgot I was eating a plant based burger. Not only was the food amazing, the staff was also very kind and attentive. My waiter, Brandon was awesome! If you're looking for coffee, I recommend their iced shakerato! It was the perfect mix of smooth and flavorful. I can't wait to be back to try more off of their menu!
Absolutely love this place so much had to go back a second night and order other items to try from menu. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!! 🤩
As someone who loves pizza and desserts, I appreciate these healthier and yet delicious options. Seed oil free is what got me here, though. Loved the interior, too!
This is literally my new favorite place! 😍 I didn't know what to expect, so let me inform you of how amazing this place is! Right off the cuff, I was greeted by Chris, my waiter that flawlessly helped me choose my drinks and food for brunch. The menu is vast, and having that helpful information about each dish from him was crucial in getting the food I was in the mood for. I got a cappuccino that was infused with lavender, which I wasn't sure about, but let me say I enjoyed it enough to get a second one. My brunch was the farmer scramble that I loved, along with pancakes. I don't know, which was more amazing because I never had pancakes that tasted like these.. it was a mix of brown sugar and cinnamon with maybe oats or granola? A must try! I then finished and ordered a smoked old fashion that is also like nothing I've had, and I've had my fair share of old fashions. Not only did it taste great, but the display and presentation of it were top-notch quality! Well done, True Food Kitchen! Chris is a keeper! And who every the cook is, is too! Out of all the restaurants here in Reston, this is a must try hidden jem! Enjoy inside or outside seating, it also had a lot of bar space and a closed off meeting or party area for a privet event if needed! Cheers!
Great place, 6 of us, veg, non-veg combination went to have lunch and all of us were happy with the food. Service is excellent and quick.
Great clean food. Been here few times and every time we leave I don’t feel bloated or stuffed, feel very good. It’s a place like no other in Town Center. Nice to see more variety of food choices, cooking styles and great flavors. Super cool and friendly staff as well.
I’m visiting from out of town. It’s a beautiful place. Food was delicious and fresh. I waited for about 10 - 15 min at the bar and finally got acknowledged and then I never got a refill on my drink and had to wave someone down to get my check. (And then waited more) Maybe they were short staffed, don’t know cause the restaurant was only half full. But I will say I loved my food.
I love this gem!! We previously ordered take out but never dined in. We love the fresh and tasty food and great service. We will be back soon!
We arrived a bit late but we were seated and taken care of very well by the staff. The food was delicious and there were several vegan options on the menu.
Desserts always are delicious. I really like the strawberry passion fruit tart but you can’t go wrong with any of them.
Some of the best food I've eaten in my entire life!!! I've never had food fresher, better made, or better for me served at a restaurant before. Their vegan and vegetarian options are abundant, their drinks are tasty (though pricey - be warned they can cost more than the meal!). Everyone who works here is friendly, kind, and seems to love their work. I give this place my highest recommendation!!
The food quality and taste is fantastic and I’ll definitely return again soon, the only issue I had was the pricing of the menu items seemed kinda high for the size and portion but I couldn’t drop a star because anything below 5 is unfair to them!
As a vegan, I really appreciated the good amount of healthy, plant-based options at True Food Kitchen in Reston. I tried the mediterranean hummus, seasonal roasted butternut squash pizza, and it was amazing—flavorful, comforting, and perfectly cooked. For dessert, I had the chocolate chip à la mode, and it hit the spot—warm, gooey, and delicious with the vegan ice cream. The atmosphere was relaxing, the service was great, and it’s clear they care about offering thoughtful, wholesome food. I would definitely come back!
A true family friendly restaurant. Delicious food, amazing taste, great ambience, fast service and a very friendly and welcoming service specially from Javier. He was suggesting what’s best on menu for our family and he wasn’t wrong. Drinks and food were definitely the best. Will surely visit again.
We delivery-order 2 Bison Pizza or more a month. They always arrive hot and delicious. Today, we received the wrong order, someone else’s meal. Justin, a new manager at the Reston location corrected the problem efficiently and professionally. Thank you Justin, restaurant staff, and deliverers. We’ll continue to enjoy your great food and service. Magi & Mike
This place always brings the freshness and flavors! Perfectly made portions that you’ll savor every bite!
First off, I am UPSET that I just found this amazing place 5 days before I relocate to another state :(. I had THEEEE BEST TIME. This was a best friend catchup dinner and we wanted healthy, fresh and good food options, while searching we found True Food. Everything and I do mean EVERYTHING was delicious - even the complementary water (I'm not exaggerating). The customer experience was 10-stars, our server, Grace, she was funny, engaging, and attentive - she shared excellent recommendations and we really enjoyed our time there. You know it's a good time when you stay until the restaurant closes. I will be telling everyone that I leave behind in VA to give this place a try you will not be disappointed. We had cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and dessert (the full experience) and I'm glad we did. If you read this review, do yourself a favor and visit the True Food Kitchen location in Reston - be sure to ask for Grace and I promise you will be glad you did. Now, I can only hope to find a location in Florida that offers something close to the service I received at this location.
I always rely on True Food Kitchen for delicious yet healthy food options. During our recent lunch there, we enjoyed the calming ambiance of combining wood tones and greenery. The staff members were welcoming and friendly, and our server provided attentive and speedy service. Our food arrived within minutes of placing our order. The food was exceptional, especially the edamame dumplings appetizer, perfectly seasoned with soy sauce, dashi, white truffle oil, and herbs. All the other dishes we ordered were equally tasty and healthy. It was my first time trying Sea Buckthorn juice; it was a little sweet and tart, but I enjoyed it. The homemade juices and vibrant colors made them a feast for the eyes. I'm looking forward to revisiting True Food soon to try some of their other tasty and healthy options.
Great atmosphere for a get together. We were having so much fun that we were there even after 9pm. Thank you! 🙏
For a week continuously I had the teriyaki quinoa bowl as I got very less time to cook in between my meetings at work Best choice ever if you want to eat healthy and tasty food at the same time Most important thing is that if you wanna eat clean , hit your protein goal for the day in low calories this is the best choice
Love it! Great service, delicious vegan food (we got pizza w/ vegan ricotta and vegan double cheeseburger 🤤) and good coffee.
Every time I dine with True Food, I am reminded of how amazing the cuisine is AND healthy. The service is always delightful. The atmosphere is a vibe. The food and cocktails are always gems.
Went on a Happy Hour today with office team. This place is located in the Reston Town Center around a variety of restaurants and stores. This was my first time here, and I must say I'm impressed with the variety and taste of the food. Even bland foods like Brussel Sprouts are made so nicely that it will make you wanna come again. Brilliant selection of toppings, especially the red berry in Brussel Sprouts (i guess goji berry), was the cherry on the cake. It's a heaven for Vegeterians and vegans, so many choices in the menu. Team tried many dishes, some pics are attached, Edemame (with Dumplings), Spicy Salmon (or Tuna, not sure) on some crispy wafer, Small Sliders (they come in pair), Pasta (couldnt take pic), Pizza, Grilled Chicken, Avocado and Hummes dipp with Nachos and Pita bread, and more. For each dish, there is one word - Delicious. The name is rightly justified, True Food, no processed junk food, No loading up dishes with butter or cheese to hide mediocre product and preparation, Just simple ingredients made with absolute perfection. Coming to the Bar, again, an amazing selection of cocktails made with quality mixers. Each of their signature cocktails is a must try. Service was also great, and a beautiful ambiance. Plenty of parking garages nearby, 1st hour, after 5pm, and Weekends are Free Parking.
One of our favorites! Always so good and it just tastes and feels clean.
I love True Foods! It's my favorite restaurant. The fares are light which I love (they also have heavy food if that is your vibe) and the ambiance is wonderful, modern and forward. This is my first time at the Reston location but as soon as we walked in it was brighter than the others I've been too! Dante the GM is doing beyond great and he is a wonderful host. If I am in the area will most def come again.
Great hospitality, manager super friendly and nice. Food is great too.
Great healthy food, a little expensive but so is everywhere these days.
This is one of my favorite restaurant because they have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options and their menu is clearly defined. There are vegan burgers are not impossible or beyond meat but made in house. Amazing taste. Also love their seasonal butternut squash pizza.
I always have a positive experience at this establishment. It starts with the food which is well prepared and delicious. The service is second to none. Professional and friendly. Always polite and helpful. I want to acknowledge GM, Tom, Chef Jose, and Chris the bartender. Kudos to all who make this a wonderful dining experience.
Great variety of food. Everything we had was fantastic. Service amd vibe was top shelf. Will visit again next time I am in town.
The service here was fantastic. I was so impressed with how well we were taken care of and it made it such a great experience
At this visit we had great time, good food and nice service. Grass fed steak and burgers are tasty and the cauliflower appetizer is 👍 👌.
Had a great experience, our meal was good and service was better! Lili our waitress was efficient and kind. Was my first time coming to a true food location.
Didn’t know my neighbor had coffee on their menu, but they do & make it so good. Got the lavender one, loving it. Thanks to kind staff & Justin 🫡
The grass fed burger and veggie burger were very good, as was the grilled salmon. The portions were a bit on the small side, but that’s true every where you go these days.
Food and service was great however, portions were very small.
Great personable and attentive staff at the Merrifield location. Good food and so happy they've gone seed oil free! Some of the things are pretty pricey but still one of my faves places to go!
Have always loved eating at true food kitchens various locations, this location excels in service and great menu. Must try double cheese burger for vegetarians and fall special chai latte with cinnamon. I’d recommend this place for vegetarians 🌱
A nice and clean establishment with fast and polite service . Food was delicious, but adding shrimp to my meal was over $7 for only 6 small shrimp. I really enjoyed my curry bowl but would pass on the sourdough pizza in the future as it was nothing special. It also did not arrive hot, barely warm.
Really good dinner at the bar the other night. Chris did a great job offering suggestions on food & beverage when solicited. He also was a generally personable guy who seemed to really like his job (and True Food) which enhanced the overall dining experience. My cocktail (Crime of Passion) was excellent - sort of a fruity pisco sour. Butternut squash soup was very flavorful, but a tad too thick for my liking. Meatloaf hit the spot on a cold night - loved the mushroom sauce (and the fact that this health-centric restaurant still offers up some beef selections). Roasted carrots were spot on. Chocolate chip cookie ala mode was really excellent. They look to have a solid Happy Hour menu. I would definitely return.
I had a good experience at True Food. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was inviting. I ordered the tenderloin steak for $37 — the portion was on the smaller side and the cut thinner than what you’d get at a steakhouse, though the meat was tender. The nice part is that it’s grass-fed, which adds to the value.
Had been excited to eat at this chain since I walked by it in Annapolis, so while I was staying here for a work trip I thought it’s kismet I should do it! I’ll start off by saying it’s wasn’t actively bad by any means, but if I’m paying $70+ for two entree’s and an appetizer, I would like it to be a) an experience/fantastic service, b) exquisite food, or c) both.. and this was honestly neither. The service was meh and the waitress just didn’t seem engaged or too attentive to the water situation sitting outside on an early august day at 5pm The food was fancy ingredients but I want to say like Panera level preparations for some of the items. We got the street corn and the corn cobs were just dried, small and knobbly slathered in butter- no bite or kick, needed more lime.. I understand they can’t control the corn crop lol but at least advise “this item is better at xyz time or our supplier didn’t have the best crop this week” idk.. but it was halfway between corn on the cob and those dried out Halloween cobs you put on the porch. The poke bowl was interesting in concept but lacked depth in flavor and needed some doctoring. I was expecting elements of umami and maybe some sweetness but all I got was fish and heat, and the forbidden rice was not cooked properly- I even googled forbidden rice while eating it to check if I was crazy. Sandwich was ok but over priced, but the sweet potato hash was mushy and we didn’t bother to finish it even though I was stupid hungry after being at a fitness conference all day. Summary: great concept but lackluster execution.. if money is a non issue for you, there’s lots of cool menu items but none of the ones we got blew our 🧦 🧦 off 🤷🏼♀️
I drove 2 hours from PA to VA for an event and stopped in late afternoon for takeout. This was my first experience with True Kitchen. The environment was pleasant and it wasn’t very busy. I ordered a half size chopped salad and margherita pizza to go. I waited about 35 minutes. When I got my order I headed back to my hotel. I opened the pizza box and the pizza looked good however it was cold. Colder than what I was thinking it would be for having only driven 5 minutes to my hotel. It occurred to me that I did wait 35 minutes for the food and maybe it was ready before that and they just forgot but I was the only person waiting in the takeout area. Who knows but it wasn’t what I was expecting for the amount of money I spent - about $27 including a $2 tip. I did eat some of the pizza because I was hungry and was too tired to go back out. The salad was ok. There were no utensils or napkins in the bag but luckily the front desk at my hotel was able to give me a plastic fork for the salad and a couple napkins. I likely would not stop in here again the next time I’m in the area.
The food is good and creative. Obviously there is not a focus on service. The environment is a bit austere.
Waiter was nice and quick to seat us. The service was a bit slow after. Our food tasted plain too. The air fried fries were cold and lacked any sort of seasoning.
True Food Kitchen Misses the Mark in Reston We went with the simple aim of trying something new and arrived at True Food Kitchen with tempered expectations: a casual, health-minded franchise promising balance, freshness, and ease. The experience, however, felt oddly disconnected from that promise. The seasonal market salad set the tone—wilted greens, muted flavors, and little sense of intention. The butternut squash came in a surprisingly tiny portion and leaned watery, though not unpleasant. French fries ordered for two arrived cold and meager, accompanied by condiments that didn’t resemble mayo or ranch in either taste or texture. The tuna poke disappointed most: a small bowl with flat seasoning and rice so undercooked it crunched. Entrées held the line without distinction—the chicken parmesan and Thai panang curry bowl were serviceable, nothing more. Service was friendly but hesitant, with a forgotten item and uneven pacing. The dining room, especially for dinner, felt stale and distant rather than lively or welcoming. At nearly $160 for three people, the value equation collapsed. Health-forward food need not sacrifice warmth or execution—but here it did. Two out of five stars.
A Valentine’s Day Heartbreak at True Food Kitchen – Reston Valentine’s Day is supposed to be about love, care, and thoughtful attention. Sadly, our evening at True Food Kitchen felt more like being stood up by someone you trusted. This wasn’t our first date. My mother, my wife, and I have frequented this restaurant many times. I’ve long been one of its biggest fans — defending it, recommending it, choosing it for family dinners. But lately, something has changed. The spark has dimmed. On Valentine’s night, despite having a reservation, we waited 30 minutes past our scheduled time just to be seated. It felt like showing up with flowers in hand, only to find the door still locked. Once seated, we waited another 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. No warm greeting. No “Happy Valentine’s Day.” Just silence. When the food finally arrived, parts of it were cold — and not in the “cool and composed” way. Our drinks showed up just as we were finishing our meal, like an afterthought rather than part of the experience. Over our last few visits, we’ve noticed the same pattern: slipping service, declining food quality, and dishes arriving lukewarm. But on a night that’s supposed to be about care and preparation, it felt especially disappointing. We understand Valentine’s Day is busy. But being busy isn’t the same as being unprepared. Reservations should mean something. Guests should feel welcomed. And food should arrive as intended. We’ve loved True Food Kitchen in the past — which makes this feel less like a bad meal and more like heartbreak. We hope this was just a rough patch and not the start of a permanent change. Because no one wants to fall out of love with a place they once adored.
Extremely Disrespectful Service ! I’ll Never Go Back I’ve been a loyal customer of True Food for over six years, but after my last visit, I’ll never return. I came on November 08-2025 at 6:45pm in for dessert only, and the waitress seemed visibly upset about it. She went to gossip with other servers, which was unprofessional and humiliating. When I asked if everything was okay, she replied, “That’s my face.” This level of disrespect toward long-time customers is unacceptable. The culture around tipping and attitude toward guests who don’t order a full meal is completely out of control. I’ve always loved this restaurant, but this experience was embarrassing and disappointing. I’ll be sharing my experience with friends and encouraging them to take their business elsewhere.
The appetizer was mediocre but the main stake was very chewy. I left half of the stake. Terrible food I ever had.
Went for Valentine's Day. First time for me, but wife had gone to the one in Mosaic before with some coworkers, and said she liked it, figured I would give it a go. This was my first and LAST time going here. I get that it was Valentine's Day and was a busy night, but as soon as the hostess seated us, we were told to "be patient" because it was "a busy night for them"... that alarmed me... instead of welcoming us we were told to "be patient"? No, "Happy Valentine's Day! or Welcome!" ...just..."be patient" How about you guys just be prepared for a busy night? We ordered drinks and they never came...I ordered a simple Arnold Palmer style lemonade and iced tea combo and my wife ordered one of the Valentine's Day specials. If you are having Valentine's Day specials, they should be something that's able to be quickly made and sent out to the guests, not something that takes almost 40 minutes to bring to our table...our meals were literally brought to our table before our drinks were. We had to ask the person who brought our meals to go check at the bar for our drinks, and then about 5 minutes later he came back with them when we had ordered them about 30-40 min prior. There was a couple next to us that ordered drinks and they never even came by the time we were finished with our meal and left, and their reservation was about the same time as ours. Then, there was another couple to the other side of us who literally waited for the waiter to come back to bring them their check for a solid 40+ minutes. They pretty much had finished their meal and were done when we got seated, yet only left about 5-10minutes before us. The only reason we got our check faster was because I asked our waiter several times to bring it to us as he kept walking by...yet it still took him a good while to come back to the table and bring it. And that's another issue-the restaurant is set up like a large cafeteria, with little to no privacy, you could literally hear the conversations of everyone around you because the spacing between the tables was so tight. In the dining area where we were seated, you literally had to shimmy sideways to sit down in your chair between them. My wife and I aren't big people by any means but if we wanted to we could literally raise our elbows and touch elbows with the people next to us... Service was terrible...Twice a server came by giving people the wrong orders. A server randomly came by and said that we ordered some sourdough bread and we said no it wasn't us, then he disappeared and came back a few minutes later and brought it to the table next to us. a server brought our meal to the couple who had been trying to get their check to leave and tried to give it to them when clearly they had food on their table that they were trying to get boxed up and we're trying to get the check and leave. My wife had to flag him down and bring the food to our table. Now that gets to the food... I ordered the All-American Burger and the kale salad. My wife had told me that they had steak but then when I looked at the menu they wanted about 40 to 45 dollars for some steak frites... Jackson's just down the street has theirs for about $30, literally 2/3 the price and I bet it's far better quality coming from Jacksons versus this place. My burger came out and it was pretty lackluster. A burger patty, a couple pieces of lettuce,a tomato and some sauce. I could have gotten a far better burger just going to a Shake Shack for about half the price I paid. The kale salad wasn't too bad but again I could have gotten something just as good or probably even better if I went to Chick-fil-A and ordered their kale salad! Sadly, I think this place is overhyped about having healthy meals, but the quality of the meal and service is pretty poor if you ask me. They hit folks with a price hike because they claim it's organic or sustainable or some kind of healthy meal so they jack up the pricing, but honestly this place isn't worth it. If you're looking for a nice sit-down restaurant and a good meal and good service, this place isn't it. Look elsewhere!
