Tip: If you enjoy spice, order your food hot, as medium may not be spicy enough. Also, consider trying the South Indian thali special on Saturdays.

Excellent indian food. We tried the veggie biryani and it was delicious. Service was great with several people coming to check if the food was good, what else we need etc.
The owner and staff were so incredibly friendly and the vegetarian samosas and saag paneer were amazing!!! So glad they moved up the street into our neighborhood.
Tried out the lunch buffet today and it was great! They have also made some nice renovations to the new site. So many options and all very flavorful. Recommend!
Absolutely amazing Chicken Makhani 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼❤️❤️ I think the best I’ve ever had honestly. I’m so happy they’ve taken over the previous India House spot. I’ve missed having outstanding Indian right by my house in Swillburg. Go support this place! Such friendly staff too. I felt very welcomed as soon as I opened the door. Excited to dine in there when they have it all set up!
Ive been craving a simple chicken curry for months. I finally had the opportunity to stop here as a birthday dinner and while it was sadly empty, I enjoyed everything we ordered. One thing I will say, if you really enjoy spice like me, order your food hot. Medium didn't quite tickle that spice itch. (Was still amazing tho)
This is some of the BEST food I’ve ever tasted. Everything is beyond delicious and everyone there is so kind. We go about once a week and always have a wonderful experience. I can’t recommend Amaya’s enough.
Best snacks ever...We ordered savory snacks and samosa's couple of times. The taste is amazing. We all enjoy Amaya's food. Highly recommend 👌
Amaya is a weekly visit for me! The food is always amazing and I am greeted with a welcoming smile every time! The portions are plentiful (with way more rice than I get as a side anywhere else) with so much flavor!!! I recommend the garlic naan and chicken tikka masala - you cannot go wrong!!!
This is the best restaurant in upstate New York. It's located in Rochester NY.. they make the best food.. I love there bhature chole and cholay. They also make great rajma and khadi.. also try there butter chicken.. the owners are sooooo nice.. they have the best chefs in the back kitchen. You MUST go here.. Paji
I want to start by saying I LOVE Indian food. It’s one of my favorites. However, we tried Amaya for the first time, and for what we got the meal was way overpriced. The service was good, but the food was also spicy when we received it, although we said mild for our dish. We got the saag paneer, which was $18 for a small 3-inch x 3-inch dish. Thali of India is cheaper, better tasting, not spicy, and has more significant portions. The website says vegan options are available, but none are on the menu…. Ok, all around, but I probably won’t go back….
December 2022: I have started meal (tiffin) services from them. They make healthy and affordable meals. The nutrition content is good. Old: I was there for Saturday's South Indian thali special. The taste is fantastic and the variety too. The price is ~$15. The hostess is excellent and warm-hearted. Please go and try the Saturday breakfast special.
This restaurant is THE gem of Indian cuisine in Rochester. My wife and I have been dining here frequently for the past year and there is just no competition for this place. It was recommended to us by several respected members of the Indian community and it has surpassed our expectations every time. The service is attentive and caring. If you have any question or issue with any menu item, just ask for Ramnish. He will ensure you have an wonderful experience. We've ordered half the items on the menu and the quality and consistency of the food never disappoint. The samosas and momo are delicious and perfectly executed. Their baby lamb chops are the best we've ever had. The chicken Daab is exquisite and the salmon tandoori is so good it should probably be ilegal! The curried goat was lovely and pretty much anything you get from their tandoori section of the menu is divine. Someone said there was an issue with the billing on the POS, but when I asked Ramnish, he said he was aware and showed me the new POS system they just started using precisely to remedy this complaint. Best Indian cuisine in Rochester. Wonderful service and attention to detail from a family owned and operated gem.
This time during our stay in Rochester we tried Amaya Indian Cuisine as it was located near our stay. We had ordered through Ramnish Prabhakar the dinner course which consist of Tandoori Roti, Murg Makhani ( Butter Chicken) & Chicken Biryani. The taste was awesome and no words to express. We also ordered the same menu next day for Lunch as a parcel and took home for our dear ones. Ramnish & his wife Reema ( Chef ) are really excellent.
One of the best place to have authentic Indian food. Love the Ambience of the place. The food is amazing here. You have a lot of options available and they do prepare the dishes according to your taste. The meal is served hot and fresh. I opted for a non vegetarian thali which was tummy filling. It was heavenly. Loved the crispy hot naan. Probably one of the best naans I have ever had. The chicken was good too. The service is pretty good and it's easy to locate. Items in the non veg thali were samosa with green and sweet chutney, mix veg, chicken gravy, halwa, chicken biryani with raita and naan.
I haven’t been here for a couple years, but at that time, papadum was served automatically. This time, nothing was served automatically. I was surprised to see a cup of chai masala was almost 6 dollars. I ordered Chana Masala and it was wonderful. My friend ordered Amaya Chicken Dab and was also pleased. However, we were given 1 rice to share and it was never refilled. We each had leftovers of our entree to bring home, but no rice. We had to ask for a 2nd napkin 3 times. After eating, it took almost 30 minutes to get our check and pay. Table service could improve.
I moved to Rochester from the NYC area and have been on a journey to find the best food. Nothing compares to NYC when it comes to ethnic cuisine so it’s been challenging, but I actually think Amaya’s food is very good. It is miles above the other popular Indian restaurants in the city when it comes to the quality and authenticity of the food. The issues that I have with Amaya are not about their food, which is very frustrating! They have the hard part nailed down, which is great food. The problem is almost every time I order takeout, there is a mistake with my order and the food is a complete mess. Last time I ordered delivery and we received an incorrect dish. We then had to go pick up the right one. The order before that, we got the complete incorrect order and again, had to go back to the restaurant to pick up the right one. The food is also often spilling out of the takeout containers, making a huge mess. I really hope Amaya can take this feedback and improve the quality of the takeout experience. Please invest in better packaging. Please double check orders before packing them up. Please keep takeout orders labeled and organized so the right ones go to the right people. I want to support Amaya and enjoy delicious Indian food, but these issues make me not want to order.
Had a bad experience the first time - went to dine in an hour before closing time. Asked for a table but was made to sit at the bar. Placed my order. No one offered water or anything else. My food came all packed for a take away. I informed them I was visiting Rochester and my hotel room didn't have any cutlery or the right space to dine and so I was planning on eating at the restaurant but was asked to leave since they had already packed it. When I requested for a spoon n a fork, they reluctantly gave me some. They weren't able to print me a receipt and wanted me to provide phone / email if I wanted an electronic copy. Thankfully the food was good and they were close to my hotel so I decided to give them another chance. 2 days later time I walk in around 6 pm and the place was empty. There's no one there in the restaurant area, someone finally comes from the back / kitchen after I loudly said hello a few times, meanwhile another couple arrives and waits behind me wondering what's going on. Again I was asked to sit at the bar which I politely declined. I was barely halfway through my meal before the server dropped a bill on my table. I wanted a dessert but at this point I was just done with them. The food is good, but the service is really bad and needs a lot of improvement.
I have never IN MY LIFE had food poisoning like I got from this place this weekend (2/7/2026). 48 hours later and I still have cramping and awful symptoms. It’s not a restaurants fault when something is off, but this food was rancid. My care team at urgent care wanted me to go to the emergency room because my symptoms were so severe. I know the economy is tough right now, but you owe it to your customers to keep them healthy and safe.
Can’t comment on the food, service, or atmosphere. Ordered online, went to the 998 clinton location (which strangely isn’t the location pictured here) and found they were closed. According to Google, Amaya’s website, and the sign in the window, they should have been open. I’d recommend calling ahead and double checking that you’re going to the right location.
As an old friend used to say, "I'd like to talk about the service, but I haven't had any." Waited in largely empty restaurant to get seated. After being left alone for at least 10 minutes, while watching servers go elsewhere, we left. Menu was via QR code. Nope.
I would give Amaya half a star if I could. The food has SIGNIFICANTLY deteriorated in quality and the price has inversely matched this to gouge the few customers they have left. We ordered the papdi chaat, kadhi, saag paneer, rotis and laccha paratha. The kadhi was decent, saag paneer was good, and the breads just about met standards. The papdi chaat however (an appetizer priced at a whopping 16$) was made of soggy papdi, yogurt, tamarind chutney and topped with chat masala and raisins (why?). When I asked the server why it lacked any of the standard ingredients (basic things like potatoes and cilantro/mint chutney), they said "it never has those things." Then they eventually rushed us out at 8:40 for a 9pm close time. Amaya is now disappointing at best, which is a shame because it used to be one of the few good spots for authentic Indian in Rochester.
