Breakfast with friends and a new place for us. I had a ham omelette and everything else at the table looked delicious. The service was great and I appreciated the server taking note that I could not eat dairy. Will definitely be back.
An extensive choice of breakfast dishes. The skillets are quite good, but everything has been delicious. The home fries are a personal favorite.
Have been living in Rochester my entire life, always passed by this place on the way to Seabreeze or the beach, but had never been here. Well let me be the first to tell you this place is a sleeper. Their food is incredible, honestly better than most diners in Rochester. Typically I’m skeptical of corn beef and hash at diners because it’s usually not homemade, but Parkside’s is phenomenal. Best corned beef and hash I’ve had. Putt putt golf is one of the oldest in the country, and oddly much more difficult than I expected. Definitely give this place a try! Staff was quick and friendly as well.
Great place for any meal , food is always on point . Their breakfast options are extensive. Portions are huge , the pancakes have to be 12" across. Lunch and dinner is also great and they always have some great specials. And a nice touch is theu have free soft serve. Definitely stop in
Second time here since moving back. Last time was amazing. The waitress remembered me from over a month ago and is super friendly. Gave me time to go through the menu without interrupting me, always a plus. I ordered the strip and eggs with the pumpkin soup. The steak was a perfect med rare, it did need some salt and pepper but I'd rather add my own. The eggs and potatoes were perfect, no seasoning needed for the home fries. Now let's talk about that soup. I remember the first time I had a home made sweet potato pie, it was life changing. This soup mmmmmm. If you like pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie, try this soup it will not disappoint. As always the service was amazing.
Went for breakfast. They had fun fall offerings like pumpkin pancakes. I had sausage, eggs and hash browns. It was good. I asked to be sat by the window to watch my dog in the car but they were unable to accommodate me because it would have been moving server sections. I was a little frustrated with how that was handled but they offered me water to go at check out for my dog
My husband and I love going here. The food is standard diner food, but there is free ice cream with a lunch and the mini golf course attached is also great. There is no lunch served on weekends unfortunately.
Our server may just have been having an off day. However, she didn't smile and seemed annoyed when we asked for anything. That said - I've been going to Parkside for years food - delicious. Atmosphere - quaint without quiet. And service is usually up there with everything else. All in all I'll go back again and again.
July 2025: Four of us met at Parkside Diner for a late morning breakfast on a recent Friday. It had been many years since we ate here last and we were pleasantly surprised by how much seating there is inside. They also offer outdoor dining on the patio (weather permitting). The restaurant was maybe 2/3 full when we arrived. We were seated quickly and given menus. They feature a nine-page menu packed with an almost endless variety of breakfast and lunch options, including one page dedicated solely to a dozen or so variations of Eggs Benedict. We eventually decided on our choices and placed our orders with our server. Our food (a Western omlet w/homefries/toast, a full stack of three large pancakes/OJ, a chicken salad club sandwich, and two eggs/sausage/toast) was served up hot a little over 15 minutes later. Portion sizes are what I'd consider generous and the menu prices reflect that. All of our meals were good, although the pancakes tasted a little off during this visit. The bill for our four meals and coffee totaled a bit over $58 including tax and a cash discount. But the real highlight of our visit here was our server, Rachael. She was extremely pleasant, very personable, fully engaging, and very efficient. She was truly outstanding and provided us with some of THE best service that we've experienced in any restaurant. Rachael was a real delight, and exactly the type of person you want serving your next meal. Enjoy, and thanks for reading!
Well all good things come to end. While their food is still outstanding some things have changed under new ownership. No more Substituting toast for one pancake! Ugh! Also while flavor or pancakes the same the crispy edges are gone. Maybe better next week. Overall this place still my favorite.
Charming diner located near Sea Breeze with a large menu selection. I still have not been to their mini-golf course. It's on my "to do" list. We ordered breakfast and it was unlike other breakfast in the area. Before I forget, our waitress Ann Marie was awesome! Back to breakfast, creative flavors and huge portions. I had the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes---their #1 selling pancakes, filled with homemade cinnamon sauce and homemade glaze. It was delicious! My mother had Banana Caramel Pecan Pancakes and they were delicious and decadent ... lots of bananas, pecans, homemade caramel syrup, and glaze. Pancakes were perfect! They were not too heavy and had perfect texture and flavor.
A cute family diner nestled just a few blocks from Lake Ontario. I dined here for lunch recently and had no complaints with my experience. It is much like you would expect, a mixture of locals reading the paper and having their coffee, and families enjoying a home cooked lunch, and workers grabbing a quick bite before running out the door. I opted for a BL (BLT hold the T) and it was good- I ordered it on untoasted bread so the kitchen had to remake it when it got to the service window and they had missed that detail. Other than that, service was prompt, my onion rings were tasty, and I thought the prices were very reasonable. If I am in the area again I would certainly stop in.
I've been coming here for over 20 years, we moved out of the area and while in town for a wedding we had to stop. The parkside omlet is my favorite and the hash is made fresh, on site. The food did not disappoint and we were seated fairly quickly. I only gave 4 stars due to their lack of friendliness, seems like the team wasn't enjoying their job.
I came into Parkside Diner with my family for a meal last week as I’ve done for the past 15+ years. We live right around the corner and have always turned to Parkside for a meal when we wanted to go out to eat. In all of these years of us coming in we’ve never had such a poor experience as we did this time around. Our experience started off fine, as per usual. My mom’s soup was great and her meal looked great, but my sister’s and my meal unfortunately had a hair in both, it was the same type of hair, same color, and texture, neither of which could be ours, that we noticed before we began to eat. The three of us all have worked in the service industry, and have handled food, we understand it happens, we simply wanted the food remade, so we could still enjoy our experience and give Parkside our service. Unfortunately our server was extremely rude regarding the issue and rather than even apologizing, she instead gave us the cold shoulder as if it was our fault. We understand the frustration a server has of having any issue with how food comes out, as it’s not necessarily her fault. Not once did we make it out to be her fault, or pry for free food, we just wanted a remake. This was extremely disappointing considering the history with Parkside Diner that my family has.
Went for brunch today and it was busy but was able to get seated and ordered pretty quickly (20ish minutes) but once we ordered it took over an hour to get our food. Pretty sure waitress forgot but when we did get it finally it was really good. Heard good things about the place and hopefully it was a fluke will try again in the future
Update: now down to 1 star. Never got checked on to see if anything else was needed, Gina just walks by and leaves check mid walk with out making sure food was okay burnt toast, son wanted cereal, I wanted to order two lunch meals to go to eat later, none of which happened. Go to cash out and ask why servers never check on their customers and get looked at like I have 10 heads. I shouldn’t have to chase down or beg my waitress for service Would give 5 stars, but each time I’ve been there the service is not great. Came in with my son and sat near the AC which was great, it was hot. A family then shows up who must be regulars, server shut off AC, which then caused the whole area to get uncomfortably hot and muggy, and she wouldn’t turn it back on when asked, would pass by us without asking if we needed anything else or refills, but was catering to the “regulars”. Next trip, again, get treated like dirt because I’m assuming at this point we aren’t “regulars”. Was rushed(only couple tables seated). Kids wanted milk shakes after their meal, but she just dropped the check about 2 min after we got our food without asking if we wanted anything else, and never came back. Waiting for a box and no one is around, so go to counter to ask the lady for one and I look over and they are already clearing our table. I’d like to continue to support the establishment as I love the food, and the one lady who cashed out and hosts(maybe an owner?) is very pleasant. But I can’t deal with being treated like we are invisible when ever we are there.
Let me start food and general staff are great: been a weekly stop for a friend and I for a long time. However this past Saturday upon checking out and jokingly asking if there were any discounts the lady at the register cashed us out for a small discount…. 2.13 to be exact. Come to find out I guess she gave us a min golf discount. While heading out the door we got approached by a bald man who was not nice and confronting us about discount. Due to the way he spoke to us and the energy he gave us we will be taking our weekly business elsewhere. It’s a shame
