Opinions de Silk O'Loughlins Rochester
Outdoor seating by the water. Food and prices were good. A nice spot to relax outside with a small group of friends.
I have been a patron of Silk O'Loughlin's restaurant and bar since I lived in that area in the late 80's. It's always been a place for meeting friends, eating great food and catching the sun's rays on the patio while doing it all.
Great people, food, music & of course drinks.! Owners are the nicest people you could meet & become friends with. I highly recommend getting there a lot..!
Great local place near the water, very friendly staff, affordable prices, good food
Stopped in for a drink on a weeknight and they were friendly, and the music was going on the jukebox, and although I didn't order any food, everyone that did were enjoying themselves. Also, you can't beat a Capt and Coke on the water.
An irondequoit standard that takes me back to the days when the legal drinking age was 18. Ok all you millennials take it from a boomer this place has it all. Hometown feel, great food and drinks. Best of all smack dab on the river. Make this your one stop this summer!
Olies as I have earned the right to call it, is a Lake Ontario institution. It doesn't matter if you pull up on your boat, or you strolled down St Paul in flip flop; you will be greeted with a smile and a wave as you enter. Trust your nose and order some wings to enjoy out on the deck. You will fall in love with the nostalgic atmosphere, going to Olies is like going home.
Had a great time. Staff was wonderful, drinks we're good and reasonablely priced. Tacos were great. Had a good band playing on a beautiful night on the water.
Olies is always my preferred spot for drinks and dining on the river. It's a classic that never goes out of style. Good burgers and wings and beer.
Sorry i didn't take pictures. Beautiful place right on the water. Outside dining and drinks. Window drink orders.. Free masks and hand sanitizer right inside the door for people going in to the bathroom. Didn't try the food.
Great food! Great location - right on the water. Staff and owners are some of the nicest folks around. Definitely a favorite hangout!!!
Food and atmosphere say it all...great little place that feels like the hometown bar.
Pitchers are reasonably priced. There is a $0.75 pool table which I find completes the experience! Always a nice crowd.
You can't go wrong here! Mike and his staff are awesome! Food and drinks are great and I felt super comfy here even during the pandemic.
So busy with Yacht club band, but our waitress was absolutely amazing!
The food here is amazing and the staff are pretty awesome too. Not to mention their menu is amazing. Everything there taste so freaking good.
The wings were really good. Had a burrito as well. Sat outside on the patio next to the river. Can't get much better than that!
One of the best places in Rochester for food and drinks on the water. The staff is great, the drinks are great, and the view is something money can’t buy. Excited to head down there today to catch up with some friends we haven’t seen in a while!
In Rochester for work travel and found a real gem on the lake for dinner. Not an overwhelming menu and nice, casual atmosphere. Wish I took pics, but I will definitely go back. Highly recommend.
We sat outside on a gorgeous summer day. Service was good. Great bar food and beer. Fun place.
Visited with a few coworkers and had a very good time. Friendly bartender and relaxed atmosphere made for a good experience. Didnt have food but will next time. Great area and view. Friendly customers as well.
It's located on the Genesee River as the river flows into Lake Ontario. Great views good food a fun place to have lunch or dinner serving some favorite foods from around the area. It's a must go to place in Rochester with some history as well. Unfortunately this year as last year the restaurant is experiencing flooding conditions due to the level of Lake Ontario a very unfortunate side effect of the Great Lakes new plan and all the rain which is problematic to all of the Great Lakes. If you have an opportunity to go please do.
Local watering hole next to the Genesee River where it empties into lake Ontario. Serves food but mainly exists for drinking and socializing. Paved, free parking. Easy to get to. Laid back atmosphere. Totally casual. Best experienced at night.
Amazing ... where else would you want to be than outdoors drinking a cold beer with friends ... great food salads and comfort food ... amazing atmosphere and friendly staff ... it's a win every day of the week. UPDATE ... best place in city especially if you are a Bills fan.
The new concrete patio along the river looked great! The food, service and cocktails were wonderful. We sat in the sun and enjoyed visiting one of Irondequoit's oldest, and cherished restaurants!
Excellent family atmosphere, good simple food, good prices. Staff is friendly. Able to sit out next to water and live music from across the river at the park
Great view on the water to have some food and watch the boats.
The best place to pull up your boat on the Rochester River Port. Great staff, good food, and always a wonderful atmosphere
Thank you for all the recommendations! Wings were delicious and their spicy homemade sauce is YUM! A restaurant to visit when going to Rochester, NY!
Great bunch of guys that work here. Mike is a true gentleman. We went here because there was nothing open for food around the area and they made us a great meal with fantastic recommendations from Mike for my 5 and 2 year old children who enjoyed their food immensely.
Very nice spot along the river. The food was generously portioned, and tasty. Prices were low as compared to other local restaurants. I highly recommend the French fries. They were hot and crisp and fresh, and they give you a decent portion.
They open for lunch on Saturday at 12 noon. if you arrive then, expect a slightly longer wait for your prepared food to arrive. Portions are large and tasty. Sitting outside on the "dock" is a better choice and servers are friendly. $$.
great place to be close to the river and enjoy the summer sun.
Waterfront seating, plenty of lighting and tables. Wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
A special thank you for providing a great space for our dads 75th birthday! He has been enjoying time at O’Loughlins for more than 50 years so there was no doubt we had to celebrate this milestone here! They were so accommodating, staff was friendly and helpful and the space for event was perfect! Highly recommend!
Great tasting bar food but somehow better. May have been the view and the service. Reasonable prices too. Onion rings are awesome. Truly worth tasting
We were so happy to pull up by boat on Tuesday and have some drinks with friends. We were greeted by a VERY polite server asking if we had masks with us or if we needed them. Of course we had our own (who wouldn't these days). It was very nice to the place packed and everyone following the rules. Thank you for a very fun experience.
Has typical bar food and more. However we went on a Wednesday and the kitchen didn't open til 5. Got a few drinks at the bar and found a good table on the water. Nice little hole in the wall.
Stopped for couple drinks after the polar plunge. Fast friendly service. Great prices
One of the best places in Rochester to grab a pint! Mike and his crew are pure class!
The best food in the river. Enjoy their garbage plates and their burgers.
Lilly did an awesome job serving us! The menu is affordable and the view is amazing!
Probably the best pizza logs I've ever had. Got a trash plate, meat hot sauce was delicious and spicy. Great burger. Beautiful atmosphere and views. Friendly service.
Definitely a dive. But!! The wings were top tier, the fish fry was top tier, the server was top tier. Went with my 3 year old on a Friday night at 7 and would not hesitate to go back. Thinking next time with just my wife!
If you don’t rate O'Loughlins a six out of five, maybe you should just stay home and watch Tv. 😂😂Moved from Rochester to Boston in 1970, each visit back always includes a stop to Ollie’s. The food is ok, the service and drinks are great, and hey—-if you are lucky enough to spend an afternoon here by the water, you are lucky enough. Judy & George from Boston 😎👍🤪
Love the food and being on the water. However disappointed I couldn't get a mixed frozen drink. They stopped serving them and only have beer. Not sure about wine.
This place is a local gem. Great spot to sit outside and watch the water. Would have given it 5 stars but we waited 45 minutes after ordering for a burger and chicken sando.
Got stopped door because I was with my service dog. It worked out fine though. Not like at Sconners where I had to get the police involved. Love this bar. P.s. I miss Maggie, Jacks old dog. How the did you did you contact me I just left the place and did not leave any info???
Love their atmosphere. We were there before full menu was started, but sandwiches and fries, onion rings etc were great. Service was wonderful.
Nice place to stop and get something to eat while sitting outside. It's not a fancy restaurant but a local seasonal spot ... Great view, love watching the ducks, boats and while you're at it have a beer and relax 😊
Just went for beer in April, fantastic location, want to go in the summer. Right on the river at Lake Ontario. Service was fast and friendly
The ambiance was fantastic! Beautiful place on the water. The food was good. We had a hamburger and the Philly cheese steak which were both good.
The server seemed a little put out. That's the only thing I can complain about.
First time visiting for a bite and drink since the Pandemic ... Staff very pleasant and guidelines followed. Sat outside which is always great since you get that Beautiful view of the water, Charlotte Beach and the boats passing by. So relaxing ...
Great atmosphere, fair drink prices, buy food leaves something to be desired. Also, just like every where else as of lately, bartender/servers don't listen. They then get angry at you, the customer, when you point out it's the wrong order. Like I said, that's pretty much everywhere.
Went in on my birthday. $42 for 2JD AND COKE 1 Labatt, 2 Jamesons. Then $18 for 2 more Jamesons. Came back another night $18 for two shots a beer @ a JDC? We ordered 1 less drink?
I was there with a group on a Friday night and it was crowded and noisy but fun. You need to get there early if you want to eat outside. I didn't have any food but the menu looked good.
Drinks are served in the day, but ni food from the restaurant. There is a hot dog stand with many good food options in the parking lot for the day time, which was really good! The water front tables are out and open with social distancing guidelines in effect!
Great atmosphere, relaxing and sublime. Food was better than average bar food. Good seasonal spot.
Place looks great! Good food (try the tacos and burritos!), employees are very friendly. Darts and pool for fun. Easily accessible slips and great outside seating.
Enjoyed eating outside under an umbrella on this hot day, watching boats coming and going on the river. Service was friendly ; my cheeseburger was good and the homemade macaroni salad was GREAT; my husband liked his shrimp basket with fries. Only criticisms are they charge for soda refills even though it comes in a small serving, and there is a charge for using a credit card.
It has only been 1 time. But we are definitely going back. Simple menu, but great views. The Genesee River flows into the Ontario. Good drinks, good service, good views. Go check it out. You can even sit next to the river and drink.
07/07/24: We finally got an opportunity to eat at this very busy restaurant on a recent Friday evening. We arrived there just before 6 PM and had to wait roughly 20 minutes for an available table on the large outdoor patio. It took another 10 minutes to get our orders placed, and then another 20 minutes for our food to be served. We both ordered a haddock fish fry dinner and were not disappointed at all. Our meals were served up very hot, the fish was very tasty and cooked perfectly, and the portion size was more than enough food for a reasonable appetite. Considering the food quality and portion size, $16 was a fair price for each full dinner. *Be aware, there is a surcharge if paying with a credit card. Our bill with beverages, tax, and surcharge totaled around $46. Some of the other prices on the menu seemed a bit high, so the fish fry may be the best value on their current menu. Our server, Logan, was friendly, efficient, and provided great service. Dining on the patio next to the water is a nice bonus. Parking in their main lot is a bit limited, but a larger adjacent parking area is just a short walk. Based on a good first visit here, we would definitely eat here again, although maybe arriving earlier next time. Thanks for reading.
This is the kind of place where you have to take it for what it is. It is a bar that you can dock your boat at. That is the key appeal here. Most of the patrons looked like they had spent the day on a boat. The view is amazing sitting right by the water. That alone, to me, is reason enough to stop by and have a drink. The food is not great, but it's okay. The service was what you would expect from a group of very young servers who mostly looked like it's their first job. They were sweet. All in all, the atmosphere is the reason to go.
There for a show. We did not eat. But I would go back for food. Nice presentation, good selection.
The draw here is a great view and relaxing spot by the water.
Please update you hours on Google, we've stopped a few times because it says you're open until 2 am, but not true. I called yesterday and there was a very clear message as to when you open, but not very clear about your closing time. Always loved stopping in for late night food on the weekends, but with this closing time confusion, it's disappointing.
Mainstay riverside dive bar with a great patio and good bar food. Prime location for sure. We've had mostly good service and experiences here overall. However, Olie's is probably the last place holding out on serving any decent craft beer. We'd probably be here a lot more often if it weren't for that. Even Marge's has a respectable selection of craft beers in cans. C'mon guys put an IPA on tap and watch people crush it.
Sitting on the river is wonderful for a summer afternoon. The staff we had were very pleasant, welcoming and friendly. Some of the patrons were like Real Housewives of the LA boat scene, with a couple party girls just drunk enough to literally do a flip and fall into a large boat tied up to the restaurants' dock. Even the staff commented later that the crew of folks who'd boated in that particular afternoon were "more entertaining" and rowdy than usual. So, the atmosphere is a fun change of pace. The food, however, was not a great place for dinner. Very much cheap bar food, mostly to give you something cheap and greasy to let you keep drinking. We had the nachos, with the chicken on the side, so my vegetarian partner could have something to eat, since it was the first place we've been to in a long time with no vegetarian patty option for the burgers. the nachos were large, and more than 2 people could eat, but heavy on chips and Velveeta cheese sauce and sour cream, and very limited on the vegetable toppings like tomato, lettuce and onion. If you're jonesing for a place to go drinking beer and some junk food, this place is awesome-- if you're looking for a healthy dinner, it's probably best to go somewhere else, and then go hang out here to watch the water and enjoy a drink.
We never are there so can’t judge. It was great for summer since chairs and tables right near water. Looks a bit sketchy but who knows? Could have great food.
Service- Good Welp food is- Good Mixed Drinks... Ehhhh..... Not good I ordered 2 long island iced teas. One for me and one for my girl. Long story short we took two sips out of them and poured the rest in the tank of the truck.. I get it. I ordered a long island. I know what it's suppose to taste like. But when your girl is using it as nail polish remover... Something ain't right. May need to get the bar tender a better jegger or maybe just maybe the bar tender needs some training.
Not great today. We were out on a nostalgia ride around Irondequoit. Looked up on website. "Opens at 3"...nothing going on when we arrived at 315, so we waited until 330. Went to the door. Stuck our head in the door, we were told they open at 4, steak night, if you don't have a reservation you are out of luck. Understand Covid restrictions, but wow! Didn't need our business!
Very crowded and understaffed resulting in bad service, cold food, and just a bad experience all around. Half of the menu was unavailable because they ran out of the items. This was at 6 o'clock on a weekday! I'd hate to see how bad it is at 6 or 7 on a Friday night. We used to love coming down to the water to grab some wings and beers but haven't been in a couple of years. Something must have changed because tonight it was just unbelievably sloppy.
I went to this place on a Saturday afternoon and ordered a couple of drinks while my partner and I waited for some friends. The drinks took a ridiculous amount of time since the bar was only 20 feet away and we only ordered draft beer. Our friends ran late and our waitress said that she would keep an eye out for our table to fill up and then return. Once our friends showed up our waitress didn't come over, so we waited 10 minutes and then just went to the bar to get our own drinks. We eventually flagged down a different waitress and were able to order food: 2 orders of chicken nachos. We waited more than 30 minutes for them and our waitress kept promising that they were on the way out. When they eventually came out,, they were awful! It was corn tortillas with a bit of cheese, a little shredded chicken and a bunch of lettuce(?!) and tomato(?!). It was not worth $9. The waitress said that her computer malfunctioned and that was why they took so long. This should have told us when she realized the issue, not when the food finally arrived. I would have given 1 star, but we were able to have the nachos removed from the bill once we requested it. I will never go here again, the only good part was the view!
Good scenic place and good live music Better food and drinks elsewhere
Just called this establishment, to ask about food pricing, menu, and whether they had gluten free food. The bartender stated she had no idea, and also stated WE DO NOT HAVE ANY GLUTEN FREE FOOD. And was not very nice about it. She needs to learn more about the bar/food information.
Paid in cash and the waitress gave the wrong change (-$10); When I got her attention she immediately said, “oh did I give you the wrong change?” And took a $10 out. I had not mentioned the bill at all. To me, this indicates she tried to steal the $$. Great service at the bar while we waited for our table (was told 30mins - table was ready in 10 - so we had our drinks. Maybe the waitress knew our tab was going to be minimal?). Ordered chicken fingers. They were good but took a long time for the app. Scenery was nice. (Many bees and flies but nothing you can do about that at an outdoor spot).
Being able to sit on the water was amazing but when it came to the food an our waiter that’s a different story. My friend and I had ordered chicken sandwiches which were so dry that you would choke on it even with mayo on it. Our waiter seemed like we were an inconvenience to her, also rolled there eyes multiple times when we had questions
Older bartender lady was awful. She had like reddish brown hair. She only attended to the regulars and made us feel like an outcast. This is supposed to be a touristy place?? Not a nice welcome. she had an attitude as soon as we sat down cause we looked different. Tried to be myself and nice as always but she was short and mad cause I ordered a different drink. I’m a local and live in town. The servers were great. They deserve my generous tip more than the bartender. The bartender didn’t ring the bell after i gave her a generous tip but she she sure did after a regular did. May not go back like I didn’t in years and will tell everyone why
This place is sub-marginal at best. Regular fountain drinks watered down to flavorless. Faux iced tea. Buffalo wings are probably the worst in NY and wings are supposed to be their speciality. Really? The burger was a boxed(from a box) burger, overcooked and with a stale bun. Hand assembled, definitely not from fresh meat. Cole slaw as a side tasted spoiled. All in all, there are definitely better places on the lake and close by. Definitely recommend heading elsewhere for better food and drinks!
This is a poor quality restaurant. Food is frozen and low quality. Glasses and dishes food and drinks are served with are in plastic and no curtleis are given unless one asks for them and, even in this case, they are poor quality plastic curtleis. Very disappointing about this place, food and even serving service. I do not recommend this restaurant.
There live music is atrocious, and only once in a while is it good. The main problems is that It is way too loud. It should be much softer, otherwise you can't talk. Don't go there if you want a conversation.
Absolutely awful. Marinara sauce you peel the lid off of, we sat next to a disgusting garbage can at the kitchen door. Our waitress Stella clearly HATES her job, literally threw our food on the table and never looked at us once. My husband's beer came in a glass but my cocktail came in a plastic cup for some reason. Plastic cup was probably cleaner mind you...never going back.
This is the worst service we have ever received anywhere (or lack there of). We waited at the bar for 1 hour to be seated. We were finally seated at a table by a hostess and we were ignored/forgotten about for at least 30 mins. We tried to get someone's attention, but no one even acknowledged us, asked if we'd like a glass of water while we waited, or apologized for the wait. We got up and left-we will never be going there again. You've all been warned. It's not worth the wait.
Visited twice this summer. Had bad service and poor food both times. The staff seems inexperienced and untrained. They need more umbrellas at tables for shade. It's a great location to watch boats on the river. There is a shaded outdoor dining area which is perfect when the sun is bright. The table and chairs are plastic and not the best. Overall, it is a good place for a drink if you want to watch the boats but you won't impress your date there.
This establishment DENIED MY FATHER ENTRANCE BASED ON HIS DISABILITY. My father has a SERVICE DOG (NOT therapy dog) and they would not allow either of them to enter. DO NOT go to this bar. If I must clarify the rights of individuals with SERVICE ANIMALS, you are NOT legally allowed to deny service animals, and/ or their owners. They are protected by the American Disabilities Act (ADA). A SERVICE DOG IS NOT A PET.
very beautiful setting, right by the water. we were so excited about this place. my wife called her friend up to set up a dinner together at this place next weekend. as soon as we tried our appetizers, we were so disappointed. The children wings were ridiculously salty, the fried shrimps were so dry. The dinner weren't any different. my chicken sandwich wasn't completely cooked, the bread was so dry I have to drink a glass of water to wash it down. my wife's philly beef sandwich was salty and dry as well. However, service was very good. one and done for us.
Was my son's 21st birthday on the 6th, went here for a drink & snacks. Arrived at 2.50pm, they open at 3pm, went inside at 3.05pm. We sat outside under the roof because it started raining. The waitress came asking if we were looking to eat. We said that some snacks would be nice. She told us the kitchen wouldn't open until 4pm. I replied that we'll just have something to drink then, she replied "OK". 20 minutes later we left, after not getting a any kind of menu or service. We walked right by her as she sat at the bar smiling at us as we left. Thankfully, we found a much nicer place with great beer and service on Titus Ave.
