This place is amazing. The staff was very friendly. The food was amazing. The avocado toast and biscuits and gravy were delicious. The kids loved the Nutella banana waffles. We all got orange juice, it was freshly squeezed. The orange juice was too sweet but the right amount. Recommend eating here and will be coming back.

This is a great place to eat! The remodel is phenomenal and feels very "homey". This is definitely NOT the old Route 66! So much better. My chicken fried steak was really tender. My eggs were perfect like I ordered them. The owner actually came to our table and asked my wife and I for honest feedback about the food and service. We told her everything was great. We also saw her ask all the tables the same thing. You can tell she is a hands on operator not just someone sitting in a back office. Loved the place and the food! We look forward to coming back soon!

Great Texan food. Had the Grilled Chicken and two sides plus the salad! It was perfect. Coffee was strong, but you can add milk to water it down. I like strong coffee. Great people. Parking was a challenge, but with such good food, parking should not be an issue.

Great local diner with fast service, affordable as well. Would prefer to come work at a place like this vs a coffee shop or just stop by for something quick in and out. I appreciate the diner coffee and coffee cups here. nothing fancy just nostalgia

This was our first visit. It was early morning about 8:15 on a Monday so we were the only ones at the moment. Every thing was excellent!! I had my two kiddos with me and they both loved their eggs and my son will not eat eggs without sausage but he love his scramble egg with the giant pancake. Mine too was spot on. Their fresh orange juice was amazing. I had to try the Banana Nutella crêpes. I am so glad I did YUM 😋!! We will be back. Thank you!!!

Yum, yum, yum!! We had chicken fried steak and eggs the first time we visited. It was so good!! The next time we had hamburger steak and eggs ... and it too was so good. Nice waitstaff, nice decor, great food. Pretty reasonable based on today's prices (with tip, we spend about $45 each time). The coffee is really good too if you like strong coffee.

I've visited at least 3 times to date. The food and service are always wonderful. However, the last time, our waitress wasn't very attentive. We had to get her attention for water refills, and one of my companions didn't receive all of the items she ordered with her meal. I still recommend Cafe 66. I hope the servers are more attentive, especially since the place is so small.

This is a typical roadside diner just off downtown. Very consistent and we enjoy coming here. The wait staff is courteous and attentive, but when they get busy (which they always are) they can forget the small requests. We've tried both the breakfast and lunch menu. Both are pretty good and we haven't found anything that we did not like. Prices also remain very reasonable.

This place is about as Texas hometown as you can get. The food is really good. The service is attentive, down-to-earth friendly, and willing to take special orders. The parking can be a problem if the cafe is busy, but the cafe is clean, and the food is worth the effort.

Omg!! The grits are the best! I am not usually a sausage lover, but I think the sausage they serve here has a great flavor. I always order it. The food temperature is “right out of the oven hot and off the stove hot”. My husband and I have NEVER had a bad food experience. This was our first time eating at Lone Star 66 Cafe and it did not disappoint! On a busy Saturday morning, we were seated quickly and our food was hot and delicious. Our seven month old baby loved it also! He munched on the Sourdough bread the entire time. Ally was our server, and she anticipated all of our needs before we had to ask. We would come back to this place in a heartbeat. Thank you for a lovely brunch experience!

Fantastic scratch made breakfast. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I’ve had! My daughter’s meat lovers omelette was so big we took more than half home. New breakfast fave for us!

First time here and was not disappointed. The coffee was nice, hot and amazing. Good strong, robust flavor . I had the ultimate omelette with grits, my wife had the meat lovers with fruit and gluten free toast. Both omelettes were thick and packed with ingredients, definitely got our money's worth. My wife struggled with finishing hers but it was too good to leave any on the plate. They even have their own branded hot sauce that is freaking delicious, it has the right amount of kick without being over powering. We are adding this place to our regular list. Can't wait to try lunch next time. They also have gluten free pancakes and toast.

This is a vibrant restaurant, the hustle & bustle of patrons, the flexibility of changing the items in the platter..like adding crepes in place of bread & fruit. Zachary, the waiter is so friendly & helpful that a chat with him gave us a touch of the locals. I have a military guest in my table, the acknowledgement of military discount showed the owners & restaurant's patriotism. Browsing & dining among the restaurants & shops in this quaint town of Rockwall is so charming. Downtown Rockwall will keep travellers & visitors tirelessly dining & shopping.

I love love looooove this place. We've been here 3 times since we've moved to Royse City, and it's my favorite place to have breakfast at. We come almost every Saturday before going grocery shopping and it's always worth it. Their servers a nice, and funny. Their food is always on point. Their chicken fried chicken is massive and always fresh. The kids love their crapes, they say they're as good as the ones I make 😄 so that's gonna be good. We also love their skillets

This is the 2nd time I have dined at this restaurant for breakfast. Today I ordered the avocado eggs benedict. Overall, I was happy with it. My one critique is that the hollandaise sauce needs to be richer and more flavorful. With that being said the food is still excellent. I have not had a bad meal here. It is worth your time to make this a breakfast destination. I truly recommend this place.

The biscuits covered in sausage gravy is really good. Service is also great. The waitresses are the same as before the pandemic started. It's good to see old faces and have a place where you feel at home.

The atmosphere is great the food is delicious! the people were friendly, they were kind of busy and my waitress never got around to refilling my drink but stuff happens. Doesn't take away from the food and the overall service. I had the Texas Breakfast with a side of hashbrowns and it was some of the best pancakes I've had at a restaurant, can't wait to go back and try the French toast! Also was it was very impressive how quickly rhe food came out after ordering!

We are from NC and are here in Rockwall visiting family. Before leaving we both decided we wanted to find the best chicken fried steak in Rockwall and we did! I have a Texas sized appetite and this thing was massive. The chili was great and I bought 2 bottles of hot sauce. Service was best ever. We plan to eat here more than once on our next visit.

Great Breakfast Spot! This morning we stopped here for breakfast before an afternoon of adventure. I ended up having a veggie omelette with a biscuit and gravy, along with the ever popular grits. Since I don’t eat meat, usually it is difficult to find something on a breakfast menu that is going to fill me up, but that did not happen here. The omelette was fantastic and full of vegetables. The grits were perfect! They were not lumpy or runny. They were perfect. The biscuit was just the right size. A lot of places make them huge to where it is impossible to eat it. And the gravy was very creamy and nice. I did have to add salt on the omelette, but that is to be expected. Our waitress was Kelly and she was very nice. She was actually very knowledgeable too because I talked to her about the meat free options and she was the reason why I chose the omelette. Great choice Kelly! Lastly, I don’t consider myself a coffee snob by any means, but I can say that their coffee is amazing! Far too often the coffee is weak or watered down when you go to diners. But that is not the case here. I did pop into the bathroom just to see how clean it was. And I was surprised. It was actually very clean and well-maintained. Stocked up too! All in all, I would say to go get some breakfast here. We were absolutely satisfied, and that is all that matters.

My husband and I stopped in one day for brunch in this cute, clean little Cafe. We have lived in this area for 4yrs and never stopped in and tried it out. When you enter in the door, it doesn't have a smell to it at all besides the food smell, it was so clean and had spacious seating, cute decor on the walls. I have a sensitive nose, so if something smells I will leave but this place smelled just great to me. We had the fried zucchini for a appetizer 😋 it was delicious, the only thing I didn't like was it was round shaped and not strips of zucchini. But it wasn't a game changer to me, I found it tasty and crispy 😋. I decided to have the burger and fries and a side of okra, which had just the right crispy to me. I found It all to be very yummy. My husband had a breakfast plate, which he enjoyed. We will be back someday 😁

We have been a few times and every singe time has been amazing, The food is perfectly cooked. the service staff are absolutely amazing and attentive. They make you feel like you are visiting family and friendly to the 9th degree. When you walk in you just feel welcomed. Everyone has a big smile on their face, they treat you like they have known you your whole life. They have a great number of options for food choices available and the coffee is good!! That is a big thing for me, I need to be able to enjoy my coffee!! I will be visiting this place often, that is for sure!

Was driving through town and met some friends for brunch. The omelet was wonderful, it is served with pancake or biscuit and grits or hashbrowns. I had the pancake and the hashbrowns. The omlet stole the show. It was very tasty. The side dishes were nice. I was impressed with the pancake, very light and fluffy. We visited for over and hour and never felt rushed by our waitress. Very nice people and just right amount of "hominess".

My Dad and I had heard about how great the food was here and finally decided to check it out, and we were not disappointed. The place was busy, but we were able to get a table within 5 minutes of walking in. The restaurant has a cozy vibe to it, and all the employees were really nice to us. I went with the breakfast sandwich and hashbrowns. The sandwich was pretty big and the hashbrowns were nice and crispy, how I like them. My dad went with the Texas Breakfast and kept mentioning how good their Sausage gravy was. Overall we both left full, and with a great experience.

We tried this place for Breakfast and we were greeted as soon as we entered. Kelley was our server. She was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Texas Breakfast and the Chicken Fried Steak. Everything was cooked to perfection. The eggs, bacon, sausage and waffle were all perfectly delicious. The Chicken Fried Steak was awesome made in house with real steak and hand breaded, it was so good. The sausage gravy was very tasty as were the biscuits. The Grits were made perfectly. Kelley was the perfect server. If you get a chance ask for Kelley. We went back and tried the lunch once again being greeted right away. We requested Kelley for our server. They have Menudo on the weekends which is so delicious. Tried the Catfish dinner and Nashville Hot Sandwich. All were very delicious. We found the restaurant clean as were the restrooms. The cooks here do an amazing job.

Great cuppa Joe. This has the feel of an old timey diner. Featured is a breakfast menu, but lunch also served. I tried out the Bar-B-Que bacon cheeseburger. Very tasty! Since I came on a recommendation to have a burger,I felt obligated give one a try. But the lunch menu was so much more diverse. I think I will have to make it back for the liver and onions soon. Very good service provided by Kelly who kept my coffee hot the whole meal! CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN.

Great food. Nice people that Includes customers. U can sit anywhere u want too If u are single u can even sit at a table for eight. Ha ha really it's true. Coffee is yummy with all sorts of creamers. Parking is a little crowded. Place is very bright and shiny. Price reasonable. Very nostalgic place especially if you're a baby boomer.

If your in to old style country cafe and country cooking then this is the place. This is somewhat local for us and we just found it. We now have eaten here several times both breakfast and lunch. Always crowded but quiet. Service is very good and, again, if you like country then it’s outstanding. Not expensive and large portions. It’s not a New York 5 star restaurant but it is 5 stars across the board for small town country cooking. .

Solid place to have breakfast. The food was delivered in a timely manner and it was tasty. The only con to this place was the smell of propane. I asked the waitress about it and she said it was normal. I dont think the smell of propane is normal. The smell eventually did go away after about 5 minutes but it came back for another 5 minutes.

Everything we try for breakfast is great and made to our preference. The service is excellent.

Service was pretty slow and aesthetic leaves a little to be desired, but you get some hot, tasty, and we’ll made breakfast here no matter what.

Good breakfast! Staff was friendly. Orange juice is fresh squeezed and although they were busy, our orders came out quick. Prize range is good for the serving portions. The reason for the 4 stars is pancakes were a bit tough to cut and not fluffy. I think they were overcooked. Also, not a big parking area. You may need to park in front of homes nearby and walking there. Unless you get super lucky and able to park in the designated area. Yes, we'll be back and simply not order pancakes next time.

I was looking for a new place to have breakfast in Rockwall and came upon the Lone Star 66 Cafe. It had an old diner feel and a very friendly attentive staff. I had the Texas Breakfast with over medium eggs (which they cooked to perfection) sausage and pancakes. Everything tasted good and I have no complaints…if you’re looking for a good solid breakfast choice with great portions at a decent price, this is definitely worth giving a try!

Good hole-in-the-wall joint. You could see there were a bunch of regulars there for breakfast and we sort of felt like tourists. A place I would like to be a regular! Good solid breakfast. (Its gotta be hard to mess up breakfast.) Good service, clean. Wish we lived closer, I'd be there every Saturday morning.

We really like this place. The location is a little tricky, as is the parking. The music is normally at a level you can have a conversation and actually hear. (I have a real issue with restaurants that the music is so loud that I cant enjoy a conversation). Service is always good. The food portions are always sufficient. My husband had the chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and fries. And lots of gravy. He really enjoyed it. This time I had the special, which was meatloaf. My opinion, this was not my mom's meatloaf. The sauce was not bad, but not good either. I kept thinking it was Italian, like speghetti sauce. Maybe a little over seasoned. I tried to remove the "tomato sauce" and add a little ketchup, and it was better. Overall, I would give our meals a B+.

Bacon was cooked hours before I got there, when I asked for crispy bacon it was microwaved. Horrible quality! Eggs ordered over medium, they came over hard. Sourdough toast was toasted on one side and barely warm. The troublesome with all of this is they weren't busy on a Monday morning (11-13-2023) Not recommended.

Food and service is good. However the floors are so slick from all the grease. That you literally slide around. I reccomend having the closing crew clean the floors every night because one day someone is going to get seriously hurt. Especially the elderly that are a bit more fragile.

The food was excellent, especially the biscuits. But our service was extremely disappointing. #Kara forgot pur Straws 2x never came to see if we needed refills on coffee or anything. The food came out rather quickly but again she never came to check on us to see if everything was okay or if we needed any refills or anything else. She finally came to us to only bring our ticket and my husband had to ask her for a refill of his coffee and at the same time we asked her for an additional biscuit (because they were that good and I didn't finish my food so I would have room for that biscuit 🙃). So she repeated coffee refill and biscuit and we said yes, please. About a minute or so she came back with the coffee to refill my husband's cup and at that time she asked if I wanted a refill of my coffee but did not ask our daughter if she needed a refill of her tea or one to go....and that was it. We sat there until my husband finished his coffee and then waited a few more minutes before giving up. We never received the 2nd biscuit we asked her for and she confirmed. Absolutely ridiculous and disappointing. Especially with the food being so good. If we ever go back we will ask for a different wait person if she is there. No excuse for that type of service from any wait staff.

We have been by this place for years but never tried them. It was a Saturday morning and it wasn't too busy although parking seemed difficult. Our order took a bit, our waitress was great and kept the coffee full. My wife enjoyed her meal however mine was not that great. The hash browns were cold and the sandwich was rather plain. The interior of this place is great and it was an overall good experience. Great friendly staff!!

I used to eat there all the time. The food is good. The service is good but their prices have gotten ridiculous. I just paid $10 for a glass of orange juice. I could’ve bought 2 gallons of orange juice for that price of the grocery

I ordered the Southern Breakfast and sorry to say it was a disappointment. The reason being is that when you order biscuits and gravy - the gravy is supposed to be the star of the dish. Which unfortunately was not. It was very bland and tasted like what I would expect in a retirement home no flavor at all, and the chunks of meat were very gamey. The positives - the eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was as well. I didn’t care too much for the sausage but the patties were fine - I donated them to the pups. The biscuit's were good, nice and fluffy. The food was packaged nice and neat and still hot when I received it. I personally would not order this item again not worth $11.99.

Food was okay, I didn’t like that we were asked what we wanted to drink as we were walking to our table by the host, I haven’t even sat down or looked at your menu yet?? Place was dirty.

Disappointed. I asked for eggs over medium. See my receipt. Got burnt eggs. The gravy is $1 extra which I did not know. Not homemade. You get one biscuit which was not homemade. Server never refilled my drink. I will try again down the road.

It's Texas tradition what brings me here.Food is very questionable since I found burger have meet knots and it's not clean those girls could pick up the broom 🧹 Visit Cici in Rowlett with 80 people visiting and don't have a bread crumb on floor and Texas steak road house to see what food looks like! I love set up and the Texas original traditionality but needs updates with good cook and good help at this location you should make $$$$$.

Good home cooked food. The service was friendly when they stopped by but it took a while to take our order, it was a little uncomfortable and we weren't sure if we were forgotten and if we should leave. The food was good but not great. I would recommend to try at least once for yourself.

My husband and I finally got a chance to try this place. Zachary was our waiter. After we got our coffee he asked if we were ready to order. My husband mentioned that it was our first time being there so needed a little help deciding what to get. Zachary was very nice and offered a few things. Little did we know this was the last time Zachary would come back. Our food came out. The skillet dish my husband got was very good. I got the original eggs Benedict. Both poached eggs were a little too runny but still good. Luckily there was another person giving coffee refills because Zachary never came back to us. He was all around talking to all his other tables. He didn't come and ask if our food was good? Knowing it was our first visit here. This is were you make a good impression. The service and food both have to be great for someone to return and at this point I'm not sure if we ever will. We finished our meals and the plates even got picked up. It was very apparent that we were done, still nothing. We ended up going to the front desk to not only pay but to get our ticket too because again we just sat our table waiting for someone that had no intention to come back to our table. Zachary thanks for ruining our first time there.

We went for breakfast. Very disappointed in the food quality. Not only did the bacon taste like it was bad, it looked off. The Corned Beef Hash tasted like it was expired, too. The hashbrowns were cold on the bottom. The eggs were overcooked. The toast was almost burnt. Just an overall terrible meal for both of us. Too bad, because the service was great and the restaurant was very clean.

1st, the good stuff. The BBQ burger, chicken strips, and hot wings were great. Now the bad, the liver was tough and full of gristle. The 1st round of okra was burnt to a crisp. We asked for a replacement and it was better but the okra was split and too tough to eat. Our waitress was always hiding in the back, so the other waitresses had to help with drink refills, silver ware, and extra napkins. This was our 1st time here and the last.

When you substitute something you should be charged the up charge but not also the charge for the item you took off your plate. If the item removed from your plate is more expensive than the item you're putting on your plate you shouldn't have to pay extra. Also when you address your server about it and ask why you're not being credited for the item being taken off of your plate they shouldn't sit there and argue with you and tell you the price of eggs are expensive now especially when the price of eggs has gone down and everything's expensive now. She also did not ask the manager about the situation just decided to go back and forth with us which was highly unprofessional to where eventually I just shut the conversation down. ****Also don't get the grilled pork chops they smelled like rotten pork before the plate even made it to the table you could smell them.**** Then when you discuss it with the manager he tells you that they smelled fine to him. Only the top part of the hash browns was cooked. The underside tasted like freshly washed cold potatoes. Scrambled eggs were lukewarm where the shredded cheese had not even melted. You make mention of the cheese and the person dropping off the place says do you want me to warm it up for you but if it just came off the grill wouldn't it already be warm? It wasn't it was lukewarm. Sigh. It's unfortunate because last time we were here we had a much better experience. I sincerely hope that the conversation about the egg was not the reason why we were delivered food that was not cooked properly or cooked at all in the case of the pork chops.

If I could give zero stars I would. This used to be a really nice place with good waitstaff. I am not sure who hired Suzy but she totally misses the mark. Not only was she rude from the time we walked in, she actually bad mouthed us loudly, for everyone to hear, that we did not tip her on our credit card receipt. Ever hear of CASH Suzy? I usually tip in cash when paying with a credit card so the server does not have to wait to get their tip. Nor do they have to pay any fees. They get 100% of the tip. After thinking she was getting no tip, she actually came back to our table and asked for their dishes back because they were closed and wanted to go home. Really Suzy?

Hash browns undercooked. 'Ribeye' was almost raw and 1/3 gristle.

We had a horrible experience with "Susy" who basically gave us crappy service. We arrived too close to closing time and as a result we "paid for it"....Absolutely the worst, including the cat food that was served. DO NOT ORDER THE TUNA! This used to be an enjoyable place to eat but the last 2 times we've gone the food was horrible. We gave it another try and then experienced the wrath of SUSY. Never again. We miss "Bre"....

Me and my family have been frequent guests at this place, dining there and it was always a good experience, but it all changed this morning when I decided to place a pickup order. 2 orders of crab cakes benedicts. ZERO crab - not even a trace! Only bread crumbs on both orders! Called and asked for a manager - he is not on duty until weekend! How can anyone with a conscience make those "crab cakes" knowingly without crab meat and give the food to us - and believe me when I tell you - normally their crab cakes are to die for with lump crab meat and not much else! So this isn't a case of "oh well their crab cakes suck"...this was a deliberate act by whoever made them that way! Total rip-off and will be my last visit to this place! Can no longer trust the cook and $14.25 times 2 can buy a whole lot of bread crumbs!!! Shame on whoever prepared this meal!

NOPE! I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy with hash browns. OVERPRICED! hash browns came back like they had been soaking in grease for hours and that nasty grill smell full of oil. Gravy with sausage had what appeared to be a mystery meat. The big kicker-replaced hash browns with grits, well that was a mistake. Grits were very soupy and had to have them thicken them up. REALLY! Save your money and go somewhere else. What a disappointment!

I went for breakfast today 2nd visit horrible experience with the food order came out in 2 minutes surprisingly, I bite into the sausage patty smelled old bit Into the bacon same pancake didn't taste like it was cooked thoroughly, my husband's skillet had about a cup of jalapeños. Coffee tasted burnt and old no refills. I will not go back and now my stomach is not good. The waitresses were nice food bad experience

Paid almost $30 for a mediocre meal. Ordered the avacado benedict which came out great. Problem came when I asked if I could get a crepe instead of the hash browns. Sorry, we can't do that. So I said just bring me a crepe. Hash browns came out underdone (not crispy at all) and the crepe was burned. I'm not one to send food back for fear of getting a the next batch spat on so I ate it anyway. Then the check came. I was charged $3.50 to add a pancake THEN another $3.50 to sub a crepe. $7.00 for a burned crepe!! Not like they were busy as I was there early with only 3 other patrons. VERY disappointed. If you want hit or miss food for a very high price this is your place. Personally, I won't waste my money here again.

The food is too soggy, and the bacon seems old and hard. It’s very different from last time. It feels like a total waste of money.
