EXCEPTIONAL. Absolutely phenomenal dinner at Hide & Seek! Everything from arrival to departing could not have been better. Incredible service, outstanding food and a really amazing overall experience. We came for my wife's birthday dinner and Hide & Seek really came through, she was ecstatic about our dinner! We ordered a handful of the appetizers - 100 layer potato, pork belly, salmon sashimi... all of which were perfectly done. Chef Justin is doing some wonderful things with food! For entrees, my wife's mother had the rockfish and I had planned on taking on their 38 ounce Tomahawk Steak. After hearing the chef's special, I changed my mind. They had a 17 ounce, certified Japanese Wagyu Ribeye available and I couldn't resist. Having just come from Japan a few weeks ago, I've been missing the incredible Wagyu over there - and this one did not disappoint! Perfectly prepared and cooked, the flavor was immaculate, the textures were heavenly, the fat marbling was glorious. It's served with a handful of sauces, I preferred the Cowboy Butter of the 3. But, overall the steak was just perfect by itself. The creme gelato and deconstructed chocolate cake for dessert was incredible as well. We LOVED Hide & Seek and we will most certainly be back to visit again soon! Justin and Paola are doing some wonderful things here at Hide & Seek. This is definitely one of the TOP 3 dinners we've experienced in Utah, highly recommended! Thank you ❤️

Went for a date night without realizing it was the very first Sunday service—and what a great surprise. They were offering a special Sunday menu (photos included), and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The prime rib was perfectly cooked, the chicken was fantastic, and the pommes purée were next-level. The service really stood out. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, and the bartender, Chris, brought serious attention to detail to my cocktail—it genuinely elevated the experience. We’ll definitely be back. The only small piece of feedback would be to dim the lighting just a bit (maybe 20%) to lean even more into that speakeasy vibe. Overall, an excellent experience and a great addition to the scene.

I really appreciate the chef coming out with an appetizer to greet us. Ordered the Fish Special, again I appreciate the chef coming out to serve it and set up the entree. The shells a la vodka was delicious with a little spicy kick. The Gin Signature cocktail was out of this world! The host, buzzers and server Paula were amazing! I appreciate Paula taking great care of us! Overall the atmosphere was fantastic, I highly recommend!!! 🥰

Absolutely incredible dining experience! I forgot to take pictures of appetizers but the squash blossoms and pork belly were delicious! Service was on point! Drinks never ran dry, our table was cleared and reset after each course and the chef even came around a few times and described the dishes to us. Everything you could hope for in a fine dining experience. 10/10 would recommend!

This meal was unforgettable! I started the evening with the ravioli- it really was the perfect bite! I wanted to pair this with the B’s Signature cocktail, but I don’t care for aperol. However Chris, the bartender, offered to modify it for me and it was amazing! After this, it was time for the star of the show. I love pasta and the in-house made shells from the bar menu was an absolute comfort — rich, creamy, and layered with amazing textures from the ground wagyu beef, prosciutto, sausage, and roasted tomatoes. Every bite had the perfect balance of savory and sweet. The homemade toasted focaccia (wow I wish mine turned out like this!) on the side was the perfect finishing touch. And that extra dry, extra dirty martini? Perfectly chilled, briny, and smooth — the ideal pairing for such a decadent dish. Not wanting my night to end, I finished the evening with the deliciously seasonal pumpkin spice martini. The flavors, the plating, the cozy bar atmosphere, and the entire team here really make this a ten-star experience from start to finish. Can’t wait to come back!

This restaurant was to die for! Kudos to the team here because our shellfish/nut/fish allergies are typically challenging. I wish we had captured more but we were enjoying the experience too much to take out a phone. This has ranked in the top best meals of our lives. The B Special drink (pink drink with a hint of mint) was the best drink I have ever had for a crafted cocktail, Chris is an excellent bar tender! The ravioli (single bite) is one of the most delicious layered flavors in one single bite you could imagine. I was surprised when I tasted every instance mentioned in the single bite - and was pleasantly surprised by the mushroom and lemon. My husband had the wagyu special and he told me multiple times this was one of the best meals of his life. The little cones at the beginning with the small flower… stunning and it melted on your tongue. Bravo to the chef and this team for this unforgettable experience.

Absolutely incredible food. Delicious and an experience that you don't really get anywhere in Salt Lake. The service was friendly and they definitely played well to our table of friends. The atmosphere itself was worth the experience. We met the owner and executive chef, the entrance was fun and the feel and ambiance was beyond memorable. Would recommend to anyone.

My husband and I have been fortunate enough to travel the world and dine at Michelin-starred restaurants yet discovering Hide & Seek in the heart of Salt Lake felt like finding a hidden treasure. From the elevated cocktails to the warm, welcoming staff, every detail set the tone for an unforgettable evening. What followed was nothing short of a masterful performance: each plate a piece of art, every bite a dance across the palate. Chef Justin has crafted an experience that goes beyond food it’s storytelling on a plate. It’s rare to find a place that balances innovation with genuine hospitality so seamlessly. Hide & Seek is already world-class in execution, and I have no doubt its name will soon be recognized far beyond Salt Lake City. I’m excited to watch this restaurant’s journey and rise, and I feel grateful to have been there at the beginning.

I am genuinely excited to write this review. James Beard committee, I hope you are reading. This is probably my new favorite restaurant in Utah. From the beginning: Parking, super easy, in the garage next door. Free 15 minutes by scanning a QR code to give enough time to get to the restaurant. The garage has free EV charging. Reservations, the staff were providing regular updates and detailed instructions. Check-in, they immediately ask if guests need three hours of parking validation, super easy. They will check your coats as well. Ambience, the restaurant is hidden behind a concealed door. The room is darkened and seating is in faux velvet chairs, very smooth, very comfortable. The décor is a modern take on a 1920s speakeasy. I love the X-ray image of the 1930s limousine. There are images of skulls and skeletons throughout. Drinks, the cocktails are fun, fanciful, and very flavorful. Food, every bite is full of flavor from start to end. The staff are very knowledgeable about each menu item (despite the menu changing constsntly), the food's flavor composition, and even suggest how best to eat things. The complimentary starter looked like a micro-size flower bouquet and tasted like a savory tapas. The appetizers (called 'Foreplay' on the menu) are divine. Definitely try the flower stuffed zuccini. The venison tasted like candied beef; the best I have ever had. The pork chop sits atop 18-month aged parmesan cheese and is topped with crude-oil black peppercorn sauce. The color contrast alone is impressive. The sides (fried kale) are the way we all wish we could make vegetables taste at home. The desserts are colorful and a surprise for the senses. The executive chef, Justin, stopped by our table twice. He previously worked at a three-star Michelin restaurant in Chicago. He is the real-life Bear. Do not skip Hide and Seek. Save for it. Plan for it. Go there as quickly and as soon as reasonably possible. You will be glad you did.

Beyond impressed! I ducked into Hide & Seek and they surprised me. You enter through Bonnie & Clyde’s coffee shop, wander past bookshelves, then one of those shelves swings open into a dim and moody spot. Behind the bar was the Van Gogh skeleton painting staring back at me. Already hooked. Chef Justen (yes, from Alinea in Chicago) is at the helm, and you can taste and see that pedigree. It’s definitely an art. We stuck to the small items. They call it forplay. This section gave me more chances to admire my artistic food. We had the scallop ceviche, razor clams, pesto ravioli, and the 1000 layer potato cake! There were pour shows and special ways to eat these masterpieces. The servers walk you through everything. Service was elevated and polished and the ambiance was intimate and moody. This spot nails every detail of a special dinner without the gimmicky cheesiness. Don’t forget to let your phone eat first! Salt Lake City found its Wow Factor restaurant!

Came here for my friend’s birthday and it is the most darling and creative place. The staff treats you amazing and it is such a high quality end meal. The only downside is, they have lots of pork and beef, not a lot of options for those who can’t have seafood or red meats, such as not any chicken on the menu. The atmosphere was amazing though and the cute blonde who opens the door was so amazing and she’s so sweet and cute. The whole staff overall was a diverse, and we loved that! Highly recommend as this is such a cute speakeasy and I’m glad they are starting to bring unique things like this to Salt Lake City! It is pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for.

My wife and I tried Hide and Seek for the first time before going to the symphony. The reviews are spot-on - the food is fantastic, the service excellent (thank you Paola and all of the H&S staff), and the atmosphere cozy and inviting. Yes, the portions are small compared to other restaurants, but we felt like it was just perfect for us. Every bite is incredible - flavor, style, precision, delicious!! The complimentary chefs bite was a fantastic way to start, then we ordered 3 dishes between us and shared everything - appetizer (pork belly mmm), salad (Caesar - so good, beautiful and prepared table-side by the chef himself), and pork chop (very tasty) and had just the right amount of food between us. Thank you Hide & Seek for a great evening! Highly recommend!!

I was skeptical that we wouldn’t be able to get in with a party of 9 when I looked at the online reservation but I called the day before and they were very accommodating. It was a really fun experience that I can’t wait to try again. They made me a drink that was not on the menu yet with a fun presentation and it was one of the best drinks I’ve ever had. Whoever created this drink is a genius! If you are a whiskey drinker I highly recommend. Dinner portions are small according to some of the reviews I had read upon arrival but for us it worked out perfectly..I added a potato pave to my dinner. Everything tasted like a delicacy and an experience your mouth will appreciate.

This restaurant has exceeded all expectations. The service was fast and so welcoming. We felt right at home. We started our course with the squash blossoms and salmon and YUM. Our main course was the tomahawk where the chef came to the table and explained the ins and outs of the meat and cut it for us. We also added the vegetable plate, bread, potato pave, and Foie gras. We of course tried a few drinks as well and they were perfect. The tomahawk was hands down the best we have tried (and we've tried a lot). Literally dreaming of it!! We ended this experience with the candyland and again chef came out and created an incredible display of all his creations. Thank you to this incredible team of servers and chefs! This was an incredible experience of delicious food!!

Came here for the second time to celebrate our anniversary. Once again, everything including the food, service, drinks, and ambiance were phenomenal. Our waitress Paula was on-point the whole night and really contributed to the experience. It was nice to meet the head chef, Justin, who came over to wish us a happy anniversary. He and his team are creating something very special in Salt Lake. Best restaurant in town and I'm not sure it's particularly close.

As someone born and raised in Utah who has been sick of our lack of food scene for a while, Hide and Seek is a welcome addition. They claim to want to be the first in Utah to bring home a michelin star for our state and it shows, from their incredible flavor combinations to their fantastic service team and tableside presentations they show just how dedicated they are to giving you a perfect night out. Whether you're visiting for the holidays or you're a local whose bored of our other local eateries, Hide and Seek is a must attend before they surely attain their star in 2026. And don't skip the candyland! It will be a night to remember.

Me and my husband celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary last night, we had a special anniversary dinner at Hide and Seek—and WOW. What a cool, hidden gem! We were greeted by the host who opened a hidden bookcase to reveal the entrance. The atmosphere inside was warm, cozy, and romantic. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Every bite was full of fresh, intentional flavor—you could tell the chefs pour their heart into it. The service was just as amazing. My niece’s boyfriend is one of the cooks there, and it was so fun to see him doing something he loves. The head chef even came out to wish us a Happy Anniversary and helped us with our dessert—it made the night even more special.👏👏 Thank you Hide and Seek for making our night one to remember!

Super cool experience. The food is very good and high quality. The drinks are decent and service is very attentive. We had the squash blossoms and I would highly recommend! Also the red snapper was very good. If you order tea be prepared for a very large cup lol.

One of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. We were out in Park City for a ski trip but I wanted to celebrate a night out for my wife’s birthday. I’m so glad I came across Hide & Seek when I was searching unique restaurants. The owner is extremely personable. He greeted us when our table was ready and put together a menu for us so we didn’t have to decide what to order. Every dish was not only delicious, but the plating and presentation were that of a Michelin star restaurant. I highly recommend Hide and Seek. For the dining experience, the menu is priced extremely fairly. You would expect 2-3x the prices in Boston or New York. Hide & Seek definitely puts SLC on the map for elevated cuisine (never thought I would ever say that). Run, don’t walk to Hide & Seek for an amazing culinary journey (drinks are also excellent).

This might be my new favorite restaurant in SLC. Each dish was incredible - the blossom tingas and duck were my favorite. And these drinks were some of the best I've had hands down. I travel frequently between Europe, New York, and California, and these are some of the best cocktails I've had. Pricing was really reasonable too for the quality and creativity you get. The service was a bit slow at times, but the staff was incredibly friendly and more than made up for any delays.

Hide and Seek is a really fun sophisticated experience. We did not realize from Instagram it was a complete fine dining experience, and came in sweatshirts and leggings, but the experience was fantastic none the less. It’s super cute hidden entrance in a coffee shop does give the hidden/exclusive feels and the atmosphere on the inside is upscale juxtaposed with some odd art pieces and was overall “a vibe”. The food was delicious - recommending the Raviolo, Duck, and Chocolate Cake. Cocktails are phenomenal though having about 10 signature cocktails, I wanted maybe one more page of signature selections. Highly recommend for a date night or a fancy food splurge.

My husband surprised me with a reservation for my birthday and I could’ve been happier. I’ve heard about this place through a couple of friends and I was dying to try it out. It didn’t disappoint! Everything was delicious not only the food but the presentation too. They made me feel so special. You got to try the ceviche , the rib, the ravioli and raviolo god every dish was amazing. 1000% recommended

I have been here a couple times and the food is incredible! A Michelin star chef from Chicago’s iconic Alinea really shines through their plates & presentation. The service here is top notch - polite, thoughtful & super attentive! All in all you can tell this is an all hand on deck restaurant and overall an amazing experience every-time! Everyone around us always seems to be happy and enjoying as well!

I heard there was a new upscale restaurant in Salt Lake in the form of a speak easy and had to try it. Hide and Seek, as it is named, was the best dining experience I have had in the 8 years I have lived here. From the moment you walk through the book case and are seated you know you are in for a treat. The intimate feel of the quaint floor space, the decor on the walls, the staff…and the food! Everything was top notch. My date and I both ordered apps, entrees, and desserts and tried each others to get as much of the delectable flavors as possible. If you are wanting to impress a date, client or friend this is the place to do it. 10/10 would recommend.

From start to finish, our experience at Hide and Seek was nothing short of exceptional. The moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly in a beautifully elegant dining room. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet inviting, with soft lighting and an attention to detail that set the tone for the evening. Each course was a masterpiece. The flavors were balanced, innovative, and thoughtfully presented—truly a feast for both the eyes and palate. Thanks to Chef Justen. The wine pairing recommendations were spot on, enhancing every bite. Our server Paula and Bailey was knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. It’s clear that Hide and Seek is committed to excellence in every aspect. This was more than just a meal; it was an unforgettable dining experience. We can’t wait to return and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special night out.

Heard about this place through a friend. Made some reservations and so glad we did. It's a newer place that is doing really well so far. All the Michelin Star qualities minus the huge price tag those command. Definitely a cool vibe, friendly staff, and food with great presentation for each course. We didn't get the crazy dessert presentation but we saw a table get it. Insane amount of dessert food and awesome presentation of it. Check out the pics of the food we received. Highly rated and recommended in SLC!

Parking- if you park under the apartments where you scan the code, do not pay until you go inside to get it validated. Once they validate you then you can fill everything else out. I learned the hard way I paid and then went in side. But the parking people were nice and issues me a refund after emailing them, Walking into a coffee shop. Wait there is a book case that opens! Step inside to a speak easy! From start to end. Service was amazing. Felt well taken care of. My favorite is when they bring out each dish and explain what you ordered and how to eat it. Right when you sit you get first dish called potato pave. It was like a little taste of what is coming and knew we were going to enjoy dinner. After drink/dinner order you get a pop over that was so light and tasted really good. Loved the jelly and cheese you eat with it. Drink- jungle something. While alcohol taste was light I enjoyed the drink. We got the croquettes for appetizers. I'll take 14 of them spectacular! Entree- salmon. The salmon was perfectly cooked. The saffron risotto underneath it was too salty for me. I tried to eat it with the burre blanc but I couldn't. So I just ate the salmon. Husband got the cod- and it tasted light and like fresh with the greens. Hard to explain but it was really good. We didn't feel like super stuffed but we were full. We skipped dessert nothing really called out to us. We would have tried the sticky toffee but I don't really like banana. I would have tried it but hubby said maybe next time. Overall I'd give it 4.5 stars that risotto was too salty but everything else was great. Service ambiance food is worth the price. Love the pictures on the wall and music was great! Definitely coming back to taste more dishes

The food was the most scrumptious, the most tender, and the most delicious food I’ve ever had! The service was excellent, to the point, and constantly attentive!! But the atmosphere. SHEESH I loved the VIBEZ it felt very exclusive, lots of good looking people, and tons of fun. I’m making plans to bring all of my family members individually. This is the place for any food lover, food critic, or hungry person to come and enjoy. This is America’s number one restaurant.

Absolutely, incandescently happy...overjoyed! With our experience here. This place blew me straight up outta the water, I am still floored with how incredible this place was. Originally, I walked in ready to give them 3 stars. I was a little peeved bc we made a reservation a week before and they texted me 5 hrs before asking to move our time 1.5 in advance or after our reserved time. With babysitters and kids, after dinner plans, etc. it wasn't possible. I was really bummed since we were meeting friends we haven't seen in a bit. However, they were able to accommodate us the best they could for overbooking. We were comped a portion of the meal and were sat at a table in the coffee shop at Bonnie & Clyde's. It was actually really funny, since we had a full upscale dinner in the middle of the coffee shop. Looked kinda out of place, yet also like a VIP table since we were basically alone. It ended up being BETTER than we would have hoped for with some fun music playing and the screen next to us playing old 1920s tv show bits that surprisingly entertained us and made for fun conversations. The food: oh my GAWD. We eat out.... A LOT. And I haven't been this pleasantly surprised in years. This was WAY better than every restaurant I've been to in the past two years, at least. The presentation was INCREDIBLE, so witty. The flavors were amazing and portions were great. The pricing was at par with other places, maybe slightly higher but not by much. The waitstaff were wonderful and so knowledgeable! Bailey (I believe) was our waiter and they were INCREDIBLE. We ordered: Appetizers: Scallops and I think the Langostinos Also the Acorn Squash Soup Entrees: We split the King's Crown (Lamb) and the Short Rib. Dessert: not sure of the name, a cake. Reliving the experience again as I try to think of what we had has my mouth watering again. I'm dead serious, you need to try this place out. Each dish was INCREDIBLE. &&& They come with TWO Amuse-Bouches, which were DIVINEEEEE. One was a potato pavé and the other was the London Popover, a roll-like dish. So, so good. Wish we would have tried their house-made caviar, too!! Flavors- On Point. Presentation- everything was incredible. The soup was amazing with the cheese crisp on top, really amazing. Drinks- ALSO- they boozy, y'all. They are GOOOOD! Worth the upcharge. Three featured cocktails around $24 each, really pricey but worth it. They have a full bar and can make whatever you like, anyway. Cannot wait to be back! I'll miss the semi-private dining experience that I was at first crabby about 😆😅 but excited for the real deal ambiance, too. P. S. The bathroom was huge and was giving a little bit of "The Substance" vibes, imo. 😆

Had the most amazing experience at H&S this weekend. It was my first visit and truly remarkable. You walk through the bookcase into the restaurant and are immediately taken aback by the intimate ambiance of the room. The artwork was minimal but made a statement. Everything was clean and precise. We ordered our drinks and they were made quickly and expertly. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and made helpful suggestions. Each drink we had was perfectly balanced. We were brought two different “pre courses” the potato pavé and the London popover. Both of which were so flavorful and decadent without being heavy. Then at the recommendation of the bartender we ordered the ravioli as our starter. And it was even more impressive than we expected. It is one large and flavorful bite, and completely worth it. It was a great way to start our meal without being too heavy. For our entree we shared the Kings Crown, which is their lamb dish. And we were blown away. It was so flavorful and cooked to absolute perfection. The seasonings, sauces, and accoutrement were all expertly portioned and it was beautiful to look at. Then for dessert we ordered the Basque Cheesecake, and we were both speechless. It was presented so simply but with a light sprinkling of luster dust around the plate, giving it an almost glowing effect. We both agreed that it was the most exquisite dining experience we had enjoyed in a very long time. I’m not sure if anything else can compete. Every little detail was taken care of, nothing went unnoticed. Each server and bartender did a wonderful job. We can’t wait to go back!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hide and Seek in downtown Salt Lake City, and it was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the stage for a truly unforgettable evening. The five-course meal was a culinary adventure, each dish more phenomenal than the last. Every plate was beautifully presented, showcasing the chef's incredible attention to detail and creativity. You could tell that each ingredient was thoughtfully chosen and expertly prepared. But the real showstopper was the Candyland dessert! Watching the chef come out and craft a stunning piece of art with each dessert item was mesmerizing. It wasn’t just a dessert; it was an experience that engaged all the senses. The flavors were delightful, and the presentation was simply breathtaking. If you’re looking for an exceptional dining experience that combines exquisite food with captivating artistry, Hide and Seek is a must-visit. I can't wait to return for another round of culinary magic!

We went to Hide & Seek for the first time last night with our friends! All I can say is WOW!! Not only was the service incredible the food was TOP NOTCH! With Flavor to its fullest! The icing on the cake was the Owner/Chef “Justin” even visited our table to explain entree’s and answer any questions! You can tell Chef Justin is all in, truly passionate about every dish & wants nothing less than every customer to enjoy his AMAZING food and their overall experience! My husband and I went the evening before Valentine’s Day for the first time and we had an amazing experience. The food was delicious and our server, Bailey was the kindest. We don’t do fine dining very often, much less where they really care about the art of taste and food. There was a miscommunication to start out with before the reservation but all the staff at Hide and Seek were extremely accommodating to our situation and were more than kind. Shout out to Paula for dealing with me and making sure we got the best experience for our Valentine’s Day meal. She was professional and willing to help us with a solution without shrugging us off.

There are restaurants you remember for the food—or the ambiance—and then there’s Hide & Seek, which manages to get both exactly right. Hidden behind a cleverly disguised bookcase inside Bonnie & Clyde’s Café, discovering this speakeasy really does feel like finding a secret. Slipping through that hidden entrance never loses its charm, and it instantly sets the tone for what ends up being a great night. Once inside, you’re transported away from the buzz of downtown into an intimate, beautifully designed space that feels classic, yet modern. The moody lighting, stylish décor, and relaxed energy strike the perfect balance between elegant and cozy. It’s the kind of place that immediately makes you want to settle in and enjoy yourself. The food is consistently excellent and clearly comes from a kitchen that cares about quality and creativity. The menu is full of thoughtfully crafted plates that are perfect for sharing, and everything we’ve tried has been both beautifully presented and delicious. There’s a great mix of familiar favorites and more adventurous options, which makes each visit interesting and memorable. The cocktails deserve their own praise. Hide & Seek takes its bar experience seriously. Whether you ordering a signature drink or ask the bartender to surprise you, the result is always inventive and exactly what you didn’t even know you wanted until you tasted it. What really makes Hide & Seek stand out, though, is the overall experience. The service is polished but friendly, the atmosphere feels welcoming, and every visit somehow is even better than the last. It’s rare to find a place that feels special every single time, but Hide & Seek pulls it off effortlessly. It’s the kind of spot you’re excited to bring friends to and proud to recommend.

Everything was absolutely amazing!! From start to finish my family and I enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner. It was so fun to watch the desert and salad being presented to other tables. Even though we didn’t get those dishes, watching the presentation was so fun. Bailey our server was absolutely amazing. So well informed and amazing at describing the dishes. The only note we had was the pork chop was slightly dry but the sauces and flavors were absolutely amazing. The cowboy butter sauce was exquisite. We hope you’ll remember us next year when we try and get a reservation and you’re famous!! Thanks for leaving my family with a unique and extraordinary Christmas Eve experience ❤️

Hide & Seek is a place to go if you want to experience food made by people who care about their craft. The front and back of house work seamlessly together to create a thoughtful, well-executed experience. The wait staff is knowledgeable and genuinely attentive, the food is inventive without sacrificing flavor, and the bartender clearly puts care and intention into every drink. It’s a great spot for a date, for dining with an adventurous eater, or for going with friends who want to fully lean into the sharing menu.

Once the secret door was open our culinary adventure truly began. We dined at Hide and Seek for my grandmothers 80th birthday, though she was unable to attend last minute the staff gave their heartfelt sympathies to our family. We didn’t leave empty handed we brought her home one of her favorite desserts, a deconstructed carrot cake with lemon gelato. The staff were quick and made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant at times, which made us feel like vips. Next to none was our meal, bursting with flavor with every bite seemingly melting into our mouths. From our caviar service to our candy land everything was perfect and we were more than satisfied. We already have plans to come back. 11/10

We visited Hide and Seek for the first time tonight and were genuinely impressed. The atmosphere is amazing—especially the hidden bookcase entrance—and the food was outstanding. The service was exceptional as well. The mocktails were delicious with beautiful presentation, and the chef/co-owner even prepared our salad tableside and personally delivered our dishes. Everything was top-notch from start to finish. We’ll absolutely be back!

My husband and I have been dining at Hide & Seek for almost 2 years. It is a completely unique experience in Salt Lake City. There are definitely fine restaurants here, but H&S delivers an exceptional quality meal, presentation and service. The speakeasy entry is classic; the decor small and inviting; the attentive servers are efficient and quiet; the combination of flavors & foods are imaginative; and the presentation of the food rivals any fine restaurant in any metropolitan city in the country!! We are grateful to have such a warm comfortable dining experience in our own backyard.

The food was excellent! Every single thing we tried was superb. The artistry and care they take in preparing the dishes along the unique flavor combos was fantastic. My disappointment was the ambiance. I had read that it was hidden behind a secret door within a book shop, and being a huge book lover that made me even more excited to go. I was looking forward to walking through the books and picking one out. Also, I've done the speakeasy dinner experience in Vegas before so I was expecting a true hidden door that you had to discover. But, what we found instead was a cafe, no bookshop, that as soon as you walk in there's a sign saying "wait to be seated" by one wall of fake books. Then when they take you in it's a tiny square diningroom where the tables are lined up and squished together like sardines. Needless to say I was disappointed when we arrived. Also, they are not fast. We were waiting at least 20 minutes between each course of food. We arrived on time for our reservation at 7:15, they seated us quickly, but then we didn't leave until 9:45. Heads-up they do validate parking. We did not know that so we paid for 2 hours, but got the last 30 minutes validated.

The food was really good! Considering how expensive it was though, I wasn’t completely blown away. The dishes are very creative and the speakeasy vibe is super fun.

This place is worth every penny. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, the food was perfection, and the atmosphere was exquisite. If you are having trouble finding it just go into bonnie and clyde's and ask. Be sure to bring your pocketbook but it is worth every penny. Do not miss out on this culinary delight in SLC.

Fantastic service, super cool idea. The food itself? Not good at all. The drinks? Not good at all. The tiny tiny portions that are mislabeled on the menu, we ordered 4 different things and are on our way to a different place because we didn't get anywhere close to enough food. If you're willing to pay heavily just for the speakeasy side of things - great place for you. If you want a good dinner? Countless other places to go with a beautiful view and actual plates of food. Our salad was served on a ginormous plate with 7 pieces of arugula and 5 cherry tomatoes. Go somewhere else. $16 for that. Then $12 for one singular ravioli. Unreal.

UPDATE: Instead of bothering to contact me at all, they flagged my review for removal with Google. Apparently, this “informal IQ test” proves where Hide & Seek sits. We have spent $thousands at this establishment, with zero reciprocated loyalty. Poor food and service aside, this is not a business that deserves patronage. What is written below is unchanged from initial submission. I wish I could still give Hide & Seek the glowing review I would have written after our first two visits. My wife and I were once their biggest advocates, telling everyone that if any restaurant in Salt Lake City could earn a Michelin Star, it would be them. Sadly, our anniversary dinner last week — and the complete silence following my attempts to reach out both via email and through Resy — has changed everything. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Hide & Seek, and it was never acknowledged once despite a friend calling ahead anonymously to cover our meal (which we didn’t learn until the end of the meal). No congratulations, no recognition — nothing. We were not brought an amuse-bouche. When my wife asked about it mid-meal, they brought her the meat version despite her being vegetarian. We had to wait again for the correct one. The food was shockingly subpar. The freshwater prawns were overcooked and rubbery, the sauces lacked any real flavor, and the pork belly was equally disappointing. The Caesar salad — which I’d loved on previous visits — was flavorless. My fish special, at $140, had a clumsy table presentation that left a lot to be desired. Only the razor clams and bao bun lived up to expectations. Another table had a selfie ring light so bright it repeatedly blinded my wife and other diners. Staff did nothing to address it. The restaurant appears to have added tables, making the space cramped and loud. What was once a relaxed, intimate atmosphere is now raucous and uncomfortable. The Bottom Line: At $600 for two with tip, this was unacceptable. For that price point in Salt Lake City, there are multiple restaurants that far exceed Hide & Seek in quality, customer service, and overall value. I reached out privately via email and through Resy to give them a chance to respond or make it right. A week later — nothing. I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant any longer. It pains me to say it, but the magic is gone. Perhaps it was an off night, but the lack of follow-up tells me everything I need to know about how they value their guests.

Not a drop of Salt on anything. Got the Filet and everything from carrot to steak didn't have a molecule of seasoning. Maybe the food only tastes good after 13 drinks and thats why it takes an hour and a half for the food to come out after ordering, but we are unfortunately, sober. I'm very grateful for the company I work for, who invited us out and tried to make it a great night. Those around us, and the servers, were kind and wonderful. That unfortunately is where most the positives end. If you HAVE to eat here, the pork shoulder appetizer was good. I wish I could have had 20 of those bite-sized, sweet and savory treats instead of anything else I had. The deconstructed fudge Sunday tasted like poison as well. Something with the chocolate... not sure it was super hard to comprehend (in a gross way not a sophisticated way). This place is fooling itself and unless you are gonna get black-out drunk before your meal, you will, unfortunately, remember it for a long time.
