The food at The Porch was beyond AMAZING! The meatloaf was so flavorful and the presentation of the dish was superb. The iron skillet corn bread is to die for and I would also highly recommend the Brussel sprouts. So good. We had just a great experience!
Oh my, the food is SO good. We will be back for sure! Try the salmon, the stroganoff, and the carrot cake. Loving this new winter menu and the cozy vibe. Plus Sofia is AMAZING!!
Very high-quality food and ingredients. I enjoyed the gluten-free “Porch Breakfast.” They held the biscuit, of course; most restaurants just take away the bread, but they replaced it with an egg. That’s really cool. The grits were so good!
When the menu says no alterations or substitutions you know to trust the chef on whatever you order! Porch is our go-to “nicer night out.” The food is an art and it’s evident in both the selection, presentation, and fine details. The menu changes seasonally, with the exception of some staples, so go often for a different experience each time. Get the meatloaf your first time here. Just trust me. Also get the iron cornbread skillet and pickled veggies apps, which they also have year-round. Oh also, um, did someone say BRUNCH?? Yes please every weekend to this as a brunch spot. We love you Porch! Only complaint is that your brunch isn’t open every day.
The 3 courses for $30 special on Thursdays is the way to go. Good value and great taste! The porch salad had good flavor but the arugula to topping ratio was off for me. The fried chicken and meatloaf were both very flavorful. The meatloaf reminded me of a beef bourgogne take on a meatloaf. The desserts were the best part of the meal. The vanilla in the banana pudding is prominent and high quality. The carrot cake was the best we ever had. Service was excellent!
We came for the 3 Course Thursday and it was a really awesome deal. We had the meat loaf and the fried chicken and loved it. Very good, rich flavors. The desserts were divine. We had the carrot cake and the banana cream pie. Be prepared the banana cream pie pudding is fairly small but packed with delicious flavor. Overall we would recommend coming here to try it out!
Absolutely loved the food. Their salads are amazing.. and the way they cook shrimp and steak is amazing. We had the arugula salad with added shrimp, salmon, and steak and eggs entree. Loved everything. Grits were cold, so that was a bit sad.. also - would not recommend the iron skillet corn pancake - absolute flop.
I enjoyed the food during my most recent visit more than I have on other visits. At our table we tried the Kale Ceasar Salad, Brussels Sprouts, Bruschetta, Meatloaf, and Carrot Cake. Everything was fresh and tasty. Among our favorites were the Bruschetta and Carrot Cake. The service was quick and the server was pleasant. We had a reservation but it was not necessary as there were plenty of open tables. Overall, based on this visit, I think I would enjoy going back again!
This was a great restaurant. Found it on Google and my wife and I along with our 2 friends were not disappointed. The food was excellent and fresh. The service was also top notch. It was enjoyable to watch the chefs as they worked their magic. The portion sizes were appropriate and the cost was a little high but not uncomfortable. My wife and I will be back. Great experience.
Very cute little place in Daybreak. We went in with a party of 10 (Note: They usually only accommodate parties up to 8 people, but were able to squeeze us in became came in after the morning rush) and the server did an amazing job! I had the Porch Salad and a Bellini. Both were excellent! The consensus was that the Shrimp and Grits was good, but the grits were a bit under seasoned. The over easy egg on top was cooked perfectly! Which is quite a feat... The chicken and biscuits was also popular with the table and would be highly recommended.
Absolutely loved our experience here at Porch ❤️ This was our first time here, and the service was INCREDIBLE! Safa was our server and he was the best server we have had in a long time. Never had to ask for refills on anything. They have a wonderful brunch menu with gorgeous southern flare. I don't care for grits much but the grits here were so tasty! Loved everything we tried! I had the Porch Breakfast, my husband had the chicken biscuits, and our friend had the veggie scramble (he said his was nearly too salty). Loved the food display. We had a side of johnny cake, which is their southern flare pancake. It's more a sweet cornbread, and it was delicious. We will be back for brunch, but cannot wait to try the dinner options!
The Porch is a great New American restaurant right in SoDa Row. There is always amazing service and wonderful food. It’s perfect for date nights and has a great ambience. I loved the Shrimp and Grits and the iron skillet cornbread. To the owners: I hope the Crawfish Mac n Cheese makes it back onto the menu someday, that was my favorite dish! Either way, still a fantastic restaurant.
We are blown away that we can experience the incredibly consistent, top quality farm to table food in our neighborhood! So grateful for this place- our absolute go-to most Fridays. BYOB! My husband is an excellent cook & he ordered the steak- every single time. Never disappoints! I LOVE the Chicken- but truly- everything is fantastic. And Sophia, Fatima, & Miquel are so adorable, hard-working and attentive- can’t love it more.
This place has hit the spot, twice. First time I had the steak biscuits, order the steak sliced into more pieces and it is perfect. Their chicken and biscuits are amazing! My wife loved their Banana Johnny cakes and various grand slam items. Would highly recommend. We make a reservation so there is no wait for us but plan accordingly. Best of all, it’s affordable.
This is definitely a must try. The food is reasonably priced for the quality. Same with the beverages. It all was delicious. I recommend trying the meatloaf and the banana pudding. The drinks were very refreshing for the hot summer season we are in. The service was excellent from start to finish as well. They offer military discount also which is awesome. I highly highly recommend.
Exceptional Dining at The Porch My recent visit to The Porch was a culinary delight! The atmosphere was warm, and the staff's hospitality was outstanding. The menu offered a diverse range of delicious dishes, each a perfect blend of flavors and creativity. The attentive staff and impeccable pacing of courses added to the overall exceptional experience. The dessert selection was a sweet conclusion to a fantastic meal. The Porch is a top-notch dining destination for those seeking extraordinary food and service. Highly recommended!
Awesome food and environment..... I had the baby kale Caesar salad with shrimp. Honestly didn't care for it very much but the shrimp was amazing. Trinity had the porch burger and fries and that was awesome!!! I loved the bloody Mary and we didn't care for the watermelon mojito too much.... Our waiter Marian I believe his name was was super helpful and friendly...
This was our first visit; it will not be our last. We started with a strawberry margarita, smoked old fashioned and blackberry Italian soda. We selected the croquettes and Burrata for appetizers. Entries included the bavette steak, fried chicken and Porch burger. For dessert we had the banana pudding and chocolate decadence cake. All were do overs. Their mac & cheese is probably the best we've ever had. Our server, Sophia, was friendly and helpful.
My wife and I love getting the porch breakfast! Mimosa and Bellini to drink. Came here many times and will continue coming back.
Brunch on Saturday morning (10am) was phenomenal! I went in thinking I would get the chicken biscuit and gravy, but after asking my server about her favorite dishes she mentioned the Veggie skillet + chorizo or steak and my decision was immediately made! The chorizo was light in color and FULL of flavor. IMO, gravy on a skillet style breakfast is a must, and this one did the job perfectly, bringing all the flavors together in each bite. The eggs were scrambled and breakfast potatoes were fine. But the mushrooms, tomatoes, zucchini, and red onion all tasted so fresh and full of flavor. It was the perfect way to kick off my Saturday.
Food was delicious and portioned well, which I appreciate since I tend to overeat when it taste good! Both the exterior and interior are nice, a modern look with plenty of plants. Staff was extremely nice and made sure we were content in every way.
Our waitress was very warm and kind and did a very good job handing out order. Our food was really good! I got the shrimp and grits and it was the perfect amount and was rich in flavor. My wife got the veggie scrambler(I think) and it was really good as well with some good garlic flavor.
We went for a Saturday morning brunch date and had a great time! They were very accommodating with our dairy and gluten allergy! The food was amazing and definitely big enough to share with another person! Was a great brunch experience and we will definitely be back!
Really great food! It came out quick and the ingredients were so fresh. Our server was extremely nice and we had a great time. Thank you!
Don’t sleep on Porch! We had a great meal last night, it exceeded our expectations. I’ve got my home cooked steaks pretty dialed in, so I rarely order a steak out to avoid disappointment, but the steak I had at Porch last night was awesome. Bavette is one of my top 3 cuts, and they cooked it perfectly. No extra butter or anything, which I consider cheating when preparing a steak, it was just a perfectly cooked cut of meat: tender, well seasoned, great sides. My wife got the beef stroganoff. At first glance it looked like it was lacking in creamy, saucy goodness, but it tasted amazing and being less saucy let the flavors come through better and made it less heavy, so another excellent dish. The cocktails were exactly what we were looking for: simple but well made, almost as good as something you’d get at a dedicated craft cocktail bar. Normally on our date nights we drive downtown to try the latest greatest new spot, but it was nice to spend 8 minutes in the car instead of 1 hour, have no challenge finding a parking place, and no waiting for a table. And it was shockingly affordable for a night out. Every other restaurant seems to be pushing the envelope on how much they can charge for a cocktail or an entree, and Porch is doing the opposite and it was a refreshing change. We went to Porch when we first moved to Daybreak, and I regret taking so long to return, we will definitely be back soon! I just noticed they have steak and eggs on the brunch menu no we might be back even sooner than I thought!
Evan is a great attentive server. The food was Amazing! The curry shrimp were fantastic. The burger is always delicious. We dipped our fries in the curry sauce. Brussels are always on point. The house made pickle jar was refreshing. Love the atmosphere. We will be back!
Absolutely phenomenal, hidden treasure in daybreak! The best salmon and shrimp I have had and wonderful service with very reasonable prices for exceptional food. I should have taken pictures before I devoured my entire meal! It was that good… from appetizers to dessert.
I like this place with a bunch of caveats. For starters, the appetizers were silly. When the shrimp cocktail comes out and you're thinking "I didn't order chips and salsa" well... You did. The chips and shrimp salsa IS the shrimp cocktail. Confusing, I know. It's your fault for having the wrong expectation. The steak bruschetta is a salad. Not sure there's "steak" in there. More like the chip steak you use in a cheese steak. But let's talk cauliflower. The Cesar Cauliflower is legitimately amazing. I'd eat that at least 3 days a week. And the carrot cake? So good. Service was whatever. The location is convenient. Food depends. Keep low expectations and err toward what can be made cheap but flavorful and you'll be a happy camper.
Enjoyed the Sunday brunch with friends. Greeted by a friendly hosted and had a fantastic server (KyAnn) who promptly took drink orders and made sure to check on us regularly. We started with Hit Buttered Rum (cocktail) and Hot Buttered Yum (michal) with the skillet cornbread and drinks & food was delicious. Then we ordered shrimp & grits - scrumptious. And the Southern Stack… that’s when we learned the Johnny cake is the same thing as the skillet cornbread we just had as an appetizer. So only 4 stars on food as that should’ve been in the menu description so customers know it’s not a pancake. Everything else was 5 stars and can’t wait to return and try the dinner menu!
I’m not often in South Jordan area, but decided to try a new place. The food at Porch was 4.5 stars! Fresh and tasty. The carrot cake dessert is delicious and worth the decision to not get small starters so we’d save room. Although, we’ll have to go back for the starters cause everything that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. Service was kinda slow even though it wasn’t very busy and the environment/decor was pretty plain. Good thing I went because the food was great!
Visited here with my sister a couple weeks ago and had a lovely time. The food was pretty good and the staff was absolutely lovely. I really enjoyed the London broil bruschetta and the sweet potato gnocchi! The cornbread was good but you could probably skip for another app. The scallops were the only dish we really disliked. I LOVE scallops but wasn't a fan of the flavors in this one. The restaurant is nice with lots of windows and seems to be in a fun spot. Everything is on the ground level and pretty accessible.
Great service, and you have to admire someone who takes the risk of opening up a business! My wife had the pork chop, and I had the meatloaf. We ended with the carrot cake- which was easily the best part of the meal! First- go with the pork chop and order it medium - we did, and it was fully cooked and still tender. Any more cooked, and it would have been dry. The meatloaf was an adventure. The chef uses some beef, ample amount of pork sausage, spices, and wild game fat (duck, I think). It's definitely not a traditional meatloaf flavor. In fact, it wasn't like anything I've tasted. A true food adventure. Carrot cake was amazing. Moist and perfect. Huge slice, so plan to share.
Beautiful place right in the Daybreak area!! Immediately was struck by the gorgeous decorations and I loved how both an indoor and outdoor dining area were offered. It’s a very pricy place, appetizers are around $12 and actual entrees are over $20, but the food was delicious! We ordered the goat cheese pasta and seafood pasta; both were delicious! Service was incredibly friendly. Would definitely highly recommended!!
Went last night with some friends to The Porch for their dinner menu. Host staff greeted us and we had a reservation so we got right in. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and garlicky mushrooms as apps. Both were very good. My wife ordered the garlic mushroom burger with a salad and I had the beef stroganoff. Our friends had the steak and also ordered a daily fish special. We all enjoyed our food. It wasn't the most amazing food I've had but it was good. They do offer a 3 for $30 option that I did not see on the menu but is worth asking about. We did not order anything that would have qualified for that. We do plan to go back for brunch at some point so I'll update at that point. All in all it was a nice atmosphere, the service was good, and the food was good. I will say I do not like their digital point of sale system. I had to ask for an itemized bill to verify no mistakes were made. Not a huge deal but it was something that I'd suggest they do different. I should be able to look at my ticket and review it before I pay and tip where as this visit I font know if it was the server or just how they do things there. I had tonoay and tip and then get a printed copy of my receipt to verify. Luckily no issues but I didn't quite like that. Like I said though, we will return.
Nice atmosphere and service but not many varieties in the menu and the foods and drinks are very average. My friend had salad and she said her food was too cheesy. I only had brunch here so I can’t comment on lunch and dinner menu. Grits is the main thing in their brunch menu and unfortunately I’m not a big fan of grits so the limited choices they offer become even less. No standard brunch menus like pancakes, french toast, omelet, egg benedict, etc. There is no good brunch place nearby this area, yet, their limited options stop me from visiting the place often enough. I wish they work more on varieties of food and I bet their business will do better
I got the chicken biscuit - the gravy was super tasty - the chicken was tenders vs a chicken breast (which I’m normally used to at restaurants). The chicken was seasoned perfectly and cooked well. These were fresh tenders and not frozen. Gravy was delicious as well. Great first visit.
Beautiful restaurant with very nice staff. Was not wowed by the food. 22$ steak sandwich should be something I think about later. Service was very good. Plenty of street parking as well as a lot behind.
I finally tried the Porch restaurant in Daybreak in South Jordan Utah last night. Honestly, I've been a little disappointed with some of the higher priced restaurants lately so I was trying not to set my expectations too high, though I was still excited. I can tell you that this restaurant is worth the hype. The prices were fair to be honest, and not as much as I was expecting. I went by myself and spent $67 but I took half the stuff to my boyfriend so technically 2 people were fed for that price. Portion size was just right for most items but I would have liked a little more street corn even though it's just an appetizer. There wasn't one thing I tried that I didn't like and they even got me to enjoy watermelon and pickled beets, which is just crazy. They also have the best mac and cheese ever. You can buy the watermelon and mac and cheese separately, or just get them both when you order the buttermilk fried chicken, which is what I did. I also got a lemonade and steak bruschetta. The prosciutto, peaches and buratta is one dish and could even be dessert really. I also splurged on the pickle whimsy which is also sometimes referred to as the pickle jar, street corn and dessert which was carrot cake. The menu is seasonal so I can't wait to try the upcoming winter menu. Go and try it if you have a chance.
I’ve been to the porch a few times before but never on a busier “date night” night. The waiter was attentive, the first drinks came out quickly and the food was amazing (obvi the pasta had all the gluten but I couldn’t help but take a pic!). When I ordered, I made a point to mention that I was gluten free, and the waiter, Billy/Evan said that everything I ordered was ok for me to eat -so it was sooo nice knowing he had knowledge of the menu! The Brussels app are insanely good, I’ll be craving them from now on. The only reason I’m not dubbing this 5 stars is because the second set of drinks we ordered to a a bit of a while…but that will not stop us from going back! Great experience, better food.
My recent visit to Porch Restaurant was a mix of ups and downs. On one hand, the food was fantastic. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the stroganoff was perfectly cooked, and the Brussel sprouts were crispy and delicious. The chef clearly has a talent for creating great dishes. On the other hand, the service left something to be desired. At times, it felt like our table was forgotten, and we had to flag down our server a few times to get attention. Additionally, we had some allergies we needed help with, and it took a long time to get the information we needed. Overall, while the culinary experience at Porch Restaurant was exceptional, the service was lacking. It's a shame, as the food is definitely worth trying, but the service issues detracted from our experience. If the restaurant could improve its service, it would be a top-notch dining destination.
the staff were super kind and the atmosphere was great! We’ve never been the type to be picky about our food or complaining. that being said, the new york strip we got almost seemed to have gone bad. we asked for medium and we got brought out a brown tough fatty piece of meat. we politely told our waitress something was off and it wasn’t medium. she was kind and offered to fix it and get us something else on the menu too. she took it back and they brought us out the same steak just even more cooked to the point it was the consistency of a pork chop. for the most expensive thing on the menu we expected a little bit better. we really wanted to love this place so it’s disappointing :(
I want to start off saying, our server was truly amazing. We got there at 8:30, not once did we feel rushed even though they closed at 9. She made amazing recommendations and truly seemed to enjoy her job. The reason for the 3 stars is the food. The portion size is fairly small. The taste was pretty sub par, we spent over a $100 for the two of us and left not necessarily hungry but like nothing hit the spot. We had the bruschetta app and that was Devine. My husband had the meatloaf, which after reading reviews, I tried to stop him but it was dry and tiny. I had the salmon which was cooked right but the grits were bland. My husband had the chocolate dessert and he said it was not worth it but I had the banana dessert and it was great but I feel could be made at home 3 times for the price of the little cup. Our server was the highlight of the meal.
My wife and I enjoy this place as a nice dinner spot where there are few in the area. Food is good and atmosphere is great, sometimes. But I guess I'm not calling in for reservations because I have been getting seated in the back corner even when the restaurant is half full. Disappointing when wanting to have a nice evening with the wife but get seated next to the open supply closet. Maybe next time they will get me a decent place to seat, especially with ample seating available. Meanwhile enjoy the food pictures I guess.
The service was alright. The cooks were drinking and eating where they prepared food. Also using their glove hand to touch their phones, and tuck their shirts in and not changing gloves. The beef stroganoff had a huge dollop of cold sour cream which rendered my pasta cold almost immediately. And the beef was nowhere to be found. My son's burger looked like it came from carls Jr. The banana pudding desert was acceptable. And the bruschetta wasn't terrible. My son wanted in n out after wards cuz he said his burger was bad. And said the in n out was better. For the price paid it was not worth it.
While I definitely do NOT like to leave less than positive reviews, in this case, I don't feel it's worth your time OR money to visit the PORCH (it's a good thing they don't have you visit the entire home) Once we were seated we noticed that the people WITHOUT reservations were given a tin cup for water and those WITH reservations were given a Glass, glass for water. That being said we waited for 44 minutes for a refill on our water and that was AFTER it took our server 16 minutes to even come over to our table and introduce herself and bring our tin cups. Now, on to the food. The burger was ordered medium and it was cooked very well done and it came to the table cold and the fries were cold. The pasta, while beautiful to look at, was also cold. The pomodoro sauce was lovely on the palate, was also cold. Atmosphere, I would say was lovely, but much like dating a beautiful person on the outside but doesn't have much on the inside and in the end - will cost you a lot. Lesson learned, expensive lesson learned. There wasn't even a welcome mat on the PORCH - that should've been a clue.
The server was extremely kind and very friendly, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience at The Porch was a bit disappointing overall. The French toast was visually beautiful, and the fresh strawberries and berries were absolutely delicious—hands down the best part of the dish. To be clear, the French toast wasn’t bad, it just didn’t taste like French toast, and I was really craving traditional French toast, so that part was disappointing. The hamburger had very little in the way of veggies, and while the French fries were pretty good, the house-made ketchup was not good at all. We mentioned this to our server, and he acknowledged that it may have been made incorrectly—possibly by someone new—and agreed that it tasted more like tomato paste, which was likely a mistake. The atmosphere is cute and inviting, but the chairs are extremely uncomfortable, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal. Overall, great service and a nice vibe, but the food and seating could really use some improvement.
Apologies for the photos if they’re unappetizing, but every single piece you see came out of my “fresh seafood pasta.” Some were shell fragments, others were just hard, unidentifiable bits. I probably ended up eating just as many as I managed to pick out. I showed the issue to my server, yet I was still charged full price for the dish—which is honestly unacceptable. I used to really enjoy this place, but it’s clearly going downhill. Serving food like this and brushing it off is not how you run a restaurant. Sadly, I can’t recommend it anymore.
Went for a brunch and the service was terrible. The waitress seemed to be disgruntled or something. Water wasn't filled, coffee cup was empty, and the best part, parties of 6 plus catch a mandatory 20% gratuity so its almost as if she knew she got her tip and didnt want to earn it at all. Ordered a burger and the salad looked like it was picked from the park outside: straight greens with a couple small tomato halves. For a 18 dollar hamburger, I wasn't impressed at all.
Horrible customer service. Walked in and there were a few tables so not like they were busy. The waiter/host told us to sit and wait before seating us at a table. She proceeded to take a whole family’s order before seating us at a table to even look at the menu. Waited 10 minutes. Thought she was going to seat us after taking their order. Wrong. She proceeds to go to every other table first and refill their drinks, get them condiments, etc BEFORE even seating us. Standing there having full conversations with everyone while we are sitting waiting hungry and not even helped. We just walked out and decided to go eat somewhere else with better service.
Want for valentines day. First date in months and was disappointed. Was unaware of a special menu. Food was cold. My steak was raw when asked for med rare. Tables were wobbly. Best part was my wife's mocktail. And water was tasty. Don't think we will go back.
