Embers is praised for its great atmosphere, friendly service, and tasty American cuisine. Many enjoyed the salmon, ribs, chicken fried steak, and pizza. Some found the steak lacking flavor or dishes not warm enough, but overall, a positive experience.

Atmosphere: I like the look & feel of the restaurant. The minute you walk in, you're greeted with the wonderful smell of smoke from wood burning. Service: the young lady's working this evening were awesome. Very patient and attentive. We had a gift card we wanted to use and ended up just shy of the balance. We couldn't leave without a tip so the server had a clever way of setting it up so we could use a debit card to leave a tip. Food: smokehouse burger is on point! It's huge, full of flavor and put together very nicely. The chicken parm on penne pasta is great. The chicken is massive lol you will not leave hungry when you eat here! Drinks: I didn't grab a pic but I had the cucumber & jalapeño margarita and I loved it. The description says it's refreshing and fully lives up to it!
Had been wanting to come here for sometime.. cute restaurant! Isabella was our waitress..she was awesome! Hustling several tables and didn't skip a beat! We had the Embers Fries soon crispy and yummy.. the fries jalapeños had a bit of a kick.. had the Wood Fire Pizza S&M Steak n Mushrooms in added pineapple...was soo good... my friend had the pulled pork quesadilla..also yummy! Some frozen jack n cokes. Overall, great experience! Will go back!
Great place to eat!! All the meals and pizzas I have ordered here have been great! Love the wood fire smell that adds to the cozy atmosphere.
For our 25th anniversary we dined at this location of Embers. Paula our server was exceptional and very nice. The food was phenomenal and well.priced and portioned. Highly recommend dining at embers.
Smelled the wood fire going before I even entered! Seated immediately and ordered quickly. Had the lunch lean cut with broccoli and sweet potato fries. Paper napkins, metal utensils, ceramic plates. My steak was very good, tasted wood grilled, had good spicing and was tender. Sides of broccoli and sweet potato fries were also good. Even put my tea in a to go glass so I could take it home. A good place for lunch. I would return
Happy Hour rocks on the place. Ive tried almost everything on the menu at one point or another, and Ive not had a bad meal. Ever. Taylor in the bar is the best.
Ashley and Nick are the best. Service is always spot on and they are always pleasant and accommodating. We stay at Drury and look forward to dining and drinking at the Embers.
First tme here. Friendly staff greeted us and seated us promptly. We had a reservation but wasn't too busy being Sunday afternoon. Our seever was great, guided us through the menu very effectively. We had a Wood-fired pizza as an appetizer, which consisted of a nicely toasted thin crust and a good mount of topping. It had good flavor just be aware they are generously sized for 1 person. The smokey wood flavor really came through in the ribeye, cooked rare as we like it. My son's burger (Real Big Mac) was a half-pound delight. We all had to sample the Mac in that burger and tasted as good as it looked. My chicken Caesar was typical but with real anchovies, quite enjoyable. Pleasant place for casual dining with a reasonably priced menu. We will be back!
I took my husband for Father's Day dinner. It was our first time and we were impressed with the bartender(sweet young girl) and the manager! The service was exceptional and the food was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the celebration very much and will be back!
I was on a work trip and decided to try it out since I was staying at the hotel right by. I was greeted when I walked in & Lauren B was my waitress! Amazing service from the time I sat down to the time I left! Baby back ribs are to die for, I mean falling off the bone in my mouth! The guy making the pizzas behind the counter was very nice too. Overall, amazing atmosphere!
Delicious foods! Not pictured was the 3 piggy appetizer and that was a great way to start the meal! Slightly crispy outer shell with sticky sauce atop juicy pork ribs. The 12oz ribeye was cooked well and was very tender and juicy as well; mushrooms and onions were a great add-on. The half rack of ribs was also very good, and fell off the bone. Jalapeño Mac n cheese was yummy and had a good kick. Mashed potatoes and the corn were also very solid sides! My only complaint was the green beans - the actual beans tasted hard.
was our first time dinning in were from out of town and our server brooks went above and beyond without telling him we weren’t locals everything was great ❗️🙏🏻
Fun place to get some good drinks and tasty grilled food. Service is friendly and prompt. The female bartender was well trained and promptly delivered one of the best dirty vodka martinis that I have had in quite a while. I was so impressed that I had to order a second to accompany my meal. And for desert I was rewarded with a delectable Old Fashioned made with a smooth and mellow rye whiskey. I chose to eat in the bar area to watch the current games on the well placed television screens. However, the restaurant also offers an abundance of more quiet and intimate regular seating away from the bar. On the menu you can find most meats that you like grilled and a couple of appealing non-meat options. I had the grilled pork chops with Mac n cheese and broccoli for the sides. The sear on the chops was perfect and the meat was tender. The Mac n cheese had a bit of heat in its seasonings and was my favorite dish for the evening.
Late bloomer coming here but really enjoyed it. Smelt really good as I walked in. This visit I really wanted to check out their cocktails at the bar. It was a very pleasant experience. Very talkative bartenders and staff. Jukebox was not blaring at a ridiculous volume. Megan was a very kind and great bartender. She introduced me to a "watermelon whiskey sour" and it was super! I'd love to return and try some food! Maybe I'll see you there! 🤘
First time visiting ... Absolutely yummy! Medium rare steak cooked to perfection! Jalapeño Maq Cheese was amazing and hopefully, the tester - Fried Pickles will be a signature item!
A very enjoyable experience and must go to place! Environment = 10 Cleanliness = 10 Food = 10 Customer Service = 10 ::Customer Service:: Walking in the first thing I notice was how friendly and welcoming everyone was. They immediately greeted me and provided menu, silverware and drinks. The staff looks happy and enjoy working here, the transition/handoff during shift changes was seamless with no interruptions. You can see the Management truly caring for their staff and the business. ::Food:: I ordered the Frito Black Bean Burger. The burger had a great taste and was very enjoyable. The bun was a very tasty whole grain bun with oats in the bun itself. The meat was very juice as you can see when pressing down on the burger. The meat itself had an enjoyable taste that complimented the additions of the black beans and fritos. The cheese had a wonderful mixture of flavors the completed the taste. Only suggestion would be to add more black beans to the burger as I had mostly fritos with a light spread of black beans. The sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked and had great taste. If you are a sweet potato fries lover I would strongly recommend this place! For dessert the cheesecake was delicious with a light spread of strawberry syrup. However without real strawberries you could notice it was missing something. ::Cleanliness:: The restrooms were very clean with a great scent aroma. Restrooms are one of the most important factors for me due to my medical needs and happy to say they are maintained well here. I see the employees wash their hands continuously, sometimes fanatically after every action. Needless to say they take cleanliness important here. The tables and under tables are clean along with the floors. So glad to see they keep everything clean including the unnoticeable places. ::Environment:: The Atmosphere is very positive with enjoyable music and entertaining TV shows. They were even playing "The Greatest Showman" Soundtrack when I walked in which was a +1 for me. I see both the employees and customers smiling and enjoying it here. The walls have wonderful portraits and provides a very laid back feel.
I stopped in for lunch and got the “Closed on Sunday Chicken Sliders.” The chicken is marinated in pickle juice then fried and placed on (what I think were) Hawaiian sweet rolls. The pickle juice part almost turned me off but I’m glad the server talked me into it because they were really good! Didn’t get to enjoy the bar but seems like a nice little spot for happy hour. Will definitely return!
My husband and I tried Embers for the first time. Amazing service and the food was even better. The salmon is fire grilled and had a great crisp too it. My husband's steak was crispy at the edges yet medium rare like he asked. He didn't even use A1 ... which says alot .The jalapeno mac and cheese was superb in flavor. We would definitely recommend for great food and will be Going back again for date night.
Food is always so good and Taylor is the best! I hadn’t been back in a minute and she remembered my order. So sweet! Amazing place and atmosphere
Nice place to eat for lunch without a lot of noise. Their lunch specials are great and still give enough to fill you up. I ordered my streak medium rare and it came out very juicy and tender. The steamed broccoli was still crispy and not wilted like I've had at other places. Loved that I could upgrade to the loaded baked potatoe.
My husband and I tried Embers for the first time yesterday for date night, it was a nice experience. It felt freezing inside so we opted to sit outside. We ordered an appetizer that we didn’t end up liking too much, but our waitress noticed and removed it from our bill! We’ve never liked sending food back having it go to waste but we were thankful she was more than kind enough to do it for us. Our entrees were absolutely delicious! The cheesecake was a generous slice that we also enjoyed a lot. We would definitely go back (actually debating about going back tonight! Lol)
Tried Embers for the first time and it did not disappoint! Service was Amazing! We had 2 people attending to us and there was never an empty glass. Ribs were fall off the bone and the waiter recommended them sauced over dry rub. My wife got the pizza and it was perfectly balanced, not too saucy and baked to perfection. Went again and it was just a good. This time I had the Ember's calzone and it was delicious!!
I have wanted to come here for a while, walked in and the atmosphere was pretty chill, nice, and quiet, this was around 3 PM on a rainy Saturday. Taylor was very friendly and took care of me very well. Ordered the sirloin steak, with broccoli and tater tots, had to get them because you don't see these at a restaurant. Overall, the steak was very tasty, a bit dry though but I like my steaks well done so I was not too surprised by this, the tots were very good and so was the broccoli. I liked it here because it was just a chill atmosphere and very relaxing. I plan on coming back and trying something else.
So, when am I not craving a huge chunk of meat? Since I am not from this city, not even the same state, I wanted to make a good choice. I went through the options on google and this place popped up with a good number of positive reviews and pictures that made you wonder, should I be trying this? It’s decent, it’s a hunk of meat and you can’t really go wrong with that. Medium rare and juicy so whoever cooked it, I hope they’re cooking for everybody who orders the steak. The staff was quite nice, bartender/ server made fun conversation and was a lot of help with my questions. She didn’t have to try hard to talk me into dessert, but she sure did help with helping me choose which one and even suggested that I could even add caramel and chocolate to give it a little something extra. It’s a cozy place with a wood fire for those pizza type of nights. It’s quite spaces and the parking seem plentiful. So why not?
Nice place, I've been here several times with family. Good pizzas, good burgers. Good beer selection too! Great service and atmosphere. Music is a little loud but some people don't mind that.
This location is as great as the other location near Costco is terrible! Obviously the difference is a manager and staff that understands how to treat customers. My wife tried the salmon, while I had a half rack of ribs. Both were very good, and the half rack was honestly more than I could eat. This and only this location is the Embers you should dine at
This was IH 10 location. Steak and shrimp platter was cooked to perfection. Tender steak. Pizza was on point with great crust. Service was outstanding!
The food here was excellent. My steak was made incorrectly and I was not given any hassle about getting it remade correctly. I didn't feel rushed to order. When I asked my friend what he thought about his food he stated that "It's so good I can't talk about it." I had wood fired sirloin medium rare and my friend had wood fired pork chops. Well worth it and I definitely would recommend to anyone I know who might be in the area. It wasn't too loud which is a plus for a person with noise sensitivity.
Had a larger party here and the service was great, they accommodated us well, everything came out on time for being such a large party.and everyone stated their food was good. The only critique are the adult drinks but I am not a solicitor for that so they still get 5 stars :).
We were in town & craved a steak. When we got here, we saw that they had so much more. We had the HUGE burger, pork chops, steaks, specialty fries, wings & more. Everything was really good, but the steak was by far the best thing we had. The staff were on point with their service, food & they interacted with jokes & just talking. It was definitely an experience & we'll be back for more!
We truly enjoyed the meatloaf sandwich.. it was perfectly paired with the grilled texas toast.. what a wonderful relationship! It reminded us of a patty melt from our home town in Detroit. The mushroom smothered chicken was awesome too! Thank you Chief Boogey for this wonderful sandwich, we will definitely be back for more!
Went here with a large party (over 6 people), they were very polite and were able to seat us promptly. All of the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. There are sports TVs but they aren't obnoxiously loud like some establishments have them, this is really nice as you can talk, even with a group as big as ours, easily with each other without competing with the TV. We had several types of pizza and chicken entree. Everyone spoke well of their respective meals and was happy to have delicious leftovers. They did make a mistake on my grandparents order, so my grandparents politely told our waitress just to let them know. Within a minute the manager, Steve, came by our table, apologized, and sent us home with the correctly made order as well as the mistake order. He didn't need to do that but he made the special effort to go the extra mile. All around great experience, wonderful staff, delicious food.
This was mine and my husband’s first time eating here and we were not disappointed. We don’t like change but we really loved eating here! Ashlee, our server, was very attentive and we never had to look for her for anything. The fried jalapeños were awesome! My mouth is watering right now just thinking of them. My husband got the pizza which was absolutely delicious! I got the Bourbon Glazed pork chops with green beans and jalapeño Mac and cheese! I LOVED IT! We will definitely come back! 5 stars for sure!
My husband and I went for the first time, on Mother's Day, around 7 pm. Ember's was the only restaurant in our area, listed on the gift cards, that had a wider variety of options and all of it sounded good. We were seated right away, with one family waiting. We could see several wait staff helping to set their table up, our server being one of them and still we didn't have a long wait despite his apologies for a wait. We both ordered burgers, fries and sweet teas. We split an onion ring appetizer. I had a margarita and a cheese cake to go because I was stuffed. All of it was decent enough that we plan on going back again with our other card. The only "negatives" I could find would be that they only accept 1 gift card per check at a time and that I didn't get a second margarita. Not a deal breaker since our bill only came out to 59 dollars for everything! The margarita (otr) was yummy and that cheese cake was big enough for 2 servings for me AND it was so good. I took one bite, then forgot all about the fruit topping. :)
My husband and I came here for a date night. We've been looking for a good fire grilled Pizza since moving to San Antonio. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We got a buffalo chicken and Supreme pizza, wings and cheesecake. We each also had a drink from the bar, that we enjoyed also. It was all delicious! I love that they have such a large variety of items on the menu. We will definitely be back to try more!
Service was fantastic even though our server never told us his name. We had a table of 11 and he promptly took our drink order and in minutes we had our drinks. They offer coke products and flavored teas. I had the mango tea. We had also ordered chips and queso for our appetizers. He then took our orders and cleared our table of the large menus. I ordered the bourbon glazed salmon with a loaded baked potato and roasted corn. When the food was ready, it came out hot. I left no crumbs. One of my party member's food came out a little late so they offered free desert. We shared a cheesecake with strawberries on top. It was also delicious. We didn't wait on refills or for plates to be cleared after we finished eating. He also asked if we needed to go boxes and brought them to us. We paid, and left. Wonderful service. Great food. Our only strife; it was a cold night and one of the customers kept holding the door open for long periods of time so we kept feeling the draft. Other than that, the atmosphere was cozy, the restaurant was clean and well kept as well as the bathrooms and parking lot. Plenty of parking and wheel chair access.
We chose to eat here because I wanted it for my birthday lunch but they couldn't have 18 lunches ready by 11am. Let me tell you the food is to die for the service is great. Great atmosphere loved the music. The embers fries are to die for. Cheese with pepperoni and fried jalapeños with ranch dressing. SOOO GOOOD. I had the fried porkchops and omg! They were delicious. A must try for everyone. We will definitely be going back
I haven't been to Embers in quite sometime so I wasn't sure how much has changed or how the quality of the food was either. But the staff was really nice with nice atmosphere offered a good place to hang out with friends and family especially if you wanted a calm place to watch sporting events. The food was amazing as well, I had gotten the butchers block pizza and was really good. The quality and amount of sauce was on point along with the toppings that came with the pizza made for a delicious meal. Will definitely go back again!!
A quiet place to have a bourbon and a steak. Enough TVs on the wall to keep up with the current score. A good handful of vehicles in the lot, and seating was immediate with plenty more tables available. Monday evening, 8 pm-ish. The salad was fresh, cold, and crisp; blue cheese dressing smooth and tasteful. Steak cooked perfectly, broccoli a drop over steamed but really good coupled with the delicious jalapeno Mac and Cheese. And the pasta on top was perfectly crispy on top with the lush creamy pasta on the bottom, and enough jalapeno flavor without any heat. Bailey was my server, she made sure I wanted for nothing. She was efficient and friendly. It was a positive dining experience in a comfortable atmosphere, I shall definitely return.
The best salmon I have EVER had at a restaurant—and I have been to the best restaurants you have ever visited! My husband—who is picky about his ribs—raved about the ribs. The atmosphere was lovely. We could talk without yelling and check the score, too. Plus, a fantastic waitress—I wish I remembered her name! Wonderful!! Best dinner out in ages. Thank you, Embers!
My husband and I ate there on Saturday night, lastnight, for our 25th wedding anniversary celebration and had a fantastic time! We both got the $55 special menu that we shared 1 appetizer of the fried mushrooms that came with brown gravy in a portion cup and I know that sounds odd however it was surprisingly good because the heat from the mushrooms melted the gravy a little thick in texture right in your mouth. We also requested the typical ranch dipping sauce too. My husband got the steak with sauted shrimp and it also had a lemon butter sauce and steak was seasoned well medium rare. I had the fire oak wood salmon with the spinach Florentine sauce cooked perfectly and we each had 2 sides plus the chocolate ganache layered cale for dessert. He enjoyed the old fashioned bourbon cocktail with the oh so good marinated cherries and I had the mixed fancy cocktail with grand manier, tequila, on etc it was huge. Everything including our waitress, the service was top notch. I highly recommend this new Embers restaurant.
Talk about a Great! Experience, we were looking at options to have lunch with our daughter and decided to give Embers a try and we were glad and satisfied that we did. My wife loved the chicken fried steak and my daughter loved her personal pizza 🍕 and last but not least the ribs were hands down the best I've had in a long time. Thank you to Cearha for great and fast service and to the cooks for amazing food will definitely recommend and come back.
The atmosphere and service was the best. The food was good. My plate wasn't as warm as I would have liked it but I did not complain about that and I should have because I feel like they would have immediately replaced my dish. Put the food was delicious and affordable. The music was fantastic! It wasn't overly loud. The atmosphere was not overly loud. I love to be able to eat and hear the people at my table. It's a very beautiful restaurant inside as well parking was great.
The service was outstanding. The food was fast and tasted excellent. They offer a wide variety of options from pizza to healthy food. The place was really well spaced out and clean. There was a lot of parking available. Our waiter was really polite and helpful being that this was our first time. Woodfire oven definitely gave the taste .
We chose this place for a quick late dinner based solely on the other reviews for the place. And it did not disappoint at all. Everything was world class. The food was delicious , perfectly cooked, right temperature and served promptly. If the food was great, the service was absolutely stellar. We had Ashley as our server and as someone who worked over 25 years in hospitality industry I can confirm that this was absolutely the best service I’ve had in a restaurant in a very, very long time. She’s a great server. I highly recommend this restaurant. You wont be disappointed.
I joined four of my friends here for lunch. Everyone really liked the food, however the menu is very limited on selections. I will say they have great pizza but this time I ordered the three little pigs. This is one of my favorite dishes here. You get three pork shanks and two sides. I ordered mashed potatoes and broccoli. If you like carnitas you will love this dish!! I also hear they have good burgers, but I've never tried one.
A very relaxed restaurant with exciting flavors. Great for families, they have wine sales on Wednesdays too. I ordered the sirloin steak, my son had the ny strip, we weren't too impressed with the cut, however they were cooked and flavored well. Three of us had full meals and drinks under 100.00 would recommend to locals, not so much for tourists
Food was pretty good. The kids really enjoyed the pizza and the portions were good. The wife and I got chicken dishes. They were both good and cooked well. Our sides were mashed potatoes, green beans, broccoli, and roasted corn. The portions could be larger but otherwise we were very satisfied!
Like the vibe at this place, nice and relaxed and low key. My wife's burger had REALLY tastey beef and a fantastic bun. Fries were spot on too. I had the BBQ chicken pizza. It could use a little more BBQ sauce IMO, but it was still really good. Our server, Daniel, took care of all of our needs without looming over our table, which is great. The selection on their menu is awesome and helps ensure that everyone in a party can get what they're looking for. We'll be back to try Embers again!
About the Food Nachos are lacking some love. Who built a border on the toppings for these nachos? Seriously, if someone is paying $12 bucks for necks they better come loaded. These nachos are not loaded. The pizza looks amazing! Let me bite into it... Wow! This pizza is really good literally saved this place from 3 stars. We got the butcher pizza. Amazingly well done!! Service How many more times will my server ask if we are ready to order? 4 times in 10 minutes. Atmosphere It's freaking cold in here. Smells great tho.
I ordered the Salmon Florentine with macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. The salmon and mashed potatoes were very tasty, but the mac and cheese had almost no flavor — it felt more like plain pasta with jalapeño than a creamy dish, so I didn’t really enjoy it. On the positive side, our waitress was very attentive and friendly, and the stars go to her service. I don’t think I’ll be coming back, but I believe it might simply come down to personal taste.
First - good luck finding the place if you are from out of town. Excellent service and good prices. My wife got the Bella Pork Chops. The two boneless pork chops were cooked perfectly. The parmesan sauce was very tasty. I unfortunately got the grilled meatloaf. It looked good but it tasted like a hamburger with no seasoning. The grilled type sauce did not save the taste of the meatloaf. Under $50. for two including the 20% tip.
Thank you for reading this review. I have been in the area multiple times over the years, and this was the first time eating at Embers. My review is based upon previous waiter and food service experience. 10 yrs +. We (party of 2) waited a very long time to be seated even though inside and out had numerous tables ready and clean. My wife wanted to sit outside on the terrace. It was a very comfortable night pit, and we had a great conversation between us. We ordered appetizers: fried mozzarella, fired wings-lemon pepper, drinks: sweat tea, and Basil margarita. The margarita was AMAZING! Entre: Bella pork Chops for me, and Chicken balsa for her. The food was amazing. Delicious in every bite. The atmosphere was very lacking. The tables on the terrace were small, which is ok, but we're very dirty. I don't mean food was left on. The drinks that were there had rings. It's a lack of someone coming in behind to clean the table effectively. There was trash and leaves all over. A plastic bag caught in the tree. NO ONE had swept the area in at least a week, if not more. To the manager, possibly retraining the staff to put more attention on cleanliness inside and as well as outside. Cleanliness on the table after the last group leaves. The host needs to learn how to manage the table and seat customers when the tables are ready.
I love Embers! It has been my go-to spot for years, ever since it opened, often visiting weekly for a very long time. I've always enjoyed the food, especially the burgers and steaks. The relaxed atmosphere has been one of the main reasons I still enjoy Embers. It's quiet enough that you can have a conversation over dinner or drinks, and the staff, including management, have always been top-notch, always being attentive, prompt, and friendly. Embers was also my first choice for happy hour for the longest time, again visiting weekly for quite a few years. The bar staff always took good care of us. I'm an admitted beer lover, and enjoying a few at the bar or with one of their nice steaks was another key reason I loved being there. So, my only disappointment in recent months has been with the quality of the draft beer being served. Despite the bartenders always trying to make it right, I have noticed that the beers have been consistently served flat. A few times it was mentioned that it was being looked into, but unfortunately I had the same experience on following visits. I hope this gets resolved soon. Despite my last comment regarding the beer, and the fact that I rarely do reviews, I felt it was long overdue in letting the Embers crew know how much I appreciate their establishment. As far as I'm concerned, and from the very first time I walked into Embers, I could tell that they paid attention to all those details that may not be obvious to some, but in the end make for a really nice experience. In my opinion, Embers continues to be a unique place in San Antonio. Wishing them continued success!
We chose this place because it was next to our hotel. We were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I had one of the better Ribeye steaks in recent memory. Relaxing atmosphere and an extensive beer list on tap. So if you're in this part of town, this place is definitely worth a stop. Ask for Abbie to be your server. She's angelically adorable and very good at what she does. Oh, try the chocolate ganache cake if you're feeling decadent.
Ember Wood Fired Kitchen - A Quiet Spot with a Mixed Plate Stepping into Embers, I was met with a comfortable, laid-back vibe and the pleasant hint of cooking smoke in the air. As a solo diner, it was an easy place to settle in; the crowd was mostly quiet groups, and the service was prompt and attentive right from the start. I went with a classic steak dinner: a 9oz sirloin, a loaded baked potato, and an upgraded side of jalapeño mac and cheese. The service remained a high point throughout the meal, with my server checking in regularly. Unfortunately, the food itself was a mixed bag. The steak looked great with a heavy char, but it was tougher than I'd hoped, and the "wood-fired" flavor was more subtle than expected. The jalapeño mac was a bit of a letdown, lacking in cheese and probably not worth the upcharge. The surprise star of the plate was actually the baked potato, which was cooked perfectly and had a genuine, light smoke flavor. The final bill came to $27 before tip. Overall, I'm glad I tried Ember. It's a perfectly pleasant spot with great service and a nice, quiet atmosphere. While the meal had its highlights, the main course didn't quite deliver on its promise. It was an ok experience, just not my favorite.
1st time coming here and this was my experience. Positive items: the fried mushrooms, queso and fries were great and flavorful. Negative items: burger lacked flavor. I also asked for no tomatoes but it came with it. Thankfully I wasn't allergic or would've had to send it back and wait another 15-20 minutes.
Great Food, But Service Could Improve - A Memorable Experience at Embers Wood Fire Grill & Bar My wife and I recently dined at Embers Wood Fire Grill & Bar, and while there were a few hiccups with the service, the overall experience was very enjoyable. We started with the ribeye steak and shrimp combo, which was cooked perfectly—tender, flavorful, and paired wonderfully with the shrimp. The sides, including crispy tater tots and sweet potato fries, were a hit as well, offering just the right balance of crunch and flavor. I also tried the Pineapple Express burger, which was an unexpected delight! The combination of sweet and savory was spot-on, making each bite a real treat. We couldn't miss the loaded baked potato either—rich, creamy, and topped with all the right ingredients. The flavors really stood out, complementing the hearty meal. As for the atmosphere, Embers did not disappoint. The environment was warm, inviting, and comfortable, with a great vibe that made it easy to relax and enjoy our meal. It's the kind of place that makes you feel at home while offering a touch of something special. However, the service was a bit lacking. While the restaurant wasn't busy, it still took quite a while for us to be seated, which felt a little surprising given the time of day. Once we were seated, the staff was friendly, but the pace could have been quicker. In summary, Embers Wood Fire Grill & Bar offers fantastic food in a great setting. Despite a few delays with the service, I’d still recommend it for the quality of the meals and the overall experience. We’ll definitely be back to enjoy more of their delicious offerings!
The restaurant was clean and nice lighting! The sliders (4) was made from one burger patty cut in quarters. What? 😏 The French fries were delicious, fresh cooked.
Went here with my wife and the food did not disappoint. Had I just been rating the food this would be a five star joint but the service was terrible. We were not greeted or have our drink order taken till 15 mins after being seated. Also about half way through our waitress switched and was replaced by someone else without any acknowledgment. Both servers were unfriendly and just straight to business. I ordered the sampler appetizer and the three little pigs dinner. Both were outstanding.
Our waitress was awesome. The food was okay. It is on the expensive side. I ordered the smokey mountain chicken and the jalapeño mac n cheese 3 out of 5. My husband ordered the glaze pork chops with jalapeño mac n cheese 2 out of 5. My daughter ordered the bbq burger n tots 2 out of 5. My son ordered the extreme pepperoni pizza 4 out of 5. Other son ordered half rack of ribs and jalapeño mac n cheese 3 out of 5. I ordered the ember punch and it was not good at all. Tastes like Robitussin 1 out of 5. My daughter asked for onion rings to be taken off the burger and they left it on there.
we answered the call from the Mgr to visit the restaurant because entrance was blocked off creating a decline in revenue. Drove up 12:00 noon to an empty parking lot filled with broken glass and trash. Went in anyway hopeful. ordered CFS and it arrive presentation ready, but tried to cut it and was so tough I left it........shoe leather covered in gravy. Partner ordered a hamburger, presentation perfect, meat good quality, bun slightly stale. After our meal we drove around to see the lot construction / obstruction but could not find one. We'll give them one more shot but will do some research before we go
Our server was great, she was friendly and attentive even though we were outside. My steak looked delicious but was not. The flavor was not steak like. I don't know if it was the butter making it taste bad. But I feel as a steak foodie, this is not the place to get steak. The people I was with thought their food was good or ok. The good - steak and mushroom pizza. The ok, chicken strips and meat loaf dinners. As for me, I do not think the food was good enough to bring me back.
My chicken was dry and my vegetables were very clearly microwaved. Not what I was expecting from this place. Looks nice from the outside and inside, decent atmosphere, server was fine but pretty "meh" on the dish I had.
First off don't order the steak, I ordered a ribeye and flavor was alright but way too tough and chewy (cheap meat), mind you I ordered it medium. 2nd don't rely on the prices stated online because we were told they don't go by those prices. Service was ok but we were so excited to take family there for the food and was very disappointed! We try new restaurants each week and review. Guess it's a one and done kinda place, this was our second time but first time we got some BS about the drink menu and happy hour only being at the bar but thought we would give it a second try because of the food....that will be our last. Sad to say this place had potential but not worth it.
We recently saw a post on social media about how the hotel next door and its blocking of Wurzbach traffic was affecting this restaurant’s business, so our Mustang club decided to stop by on Friday night to show support. It was understandably busy, and although it took a little time, the staff did work to accommodate our group, which we genuinely appreciated. Unfortunately, several aspects of the visit missed the mark. Our server appeared overwhelmed from the start. It took about 15 minutes before she came by to take our appetizer order, and another 15 minutes later she asked if we had ordered—requiring us to remind her. The appetizers finally arrived roughly 15 minutes after that. We tried the new “totcho” tater tots, which were just okay. We also ordered cucumber martinis, which took a while to arrive and were noticeably inconsistent—one tasted strongly of cucumber while the other was mostly vodka with only a hint of flavor. The entrées were the biggest letdown. The chicken in the Santa Fe Chicken Salad was overcooked and completely unseasoned. The 14 oz ribeye was cooked well and topped with a nice garlic butter, but the steak itself had almost no seasoning. The broccoli was also unseasoned. Due to the long wait times, our server kindly offered us a complimentary dessert, and the chocolate cake was enjoyable. However, the overall service continued to feel reactive rather than proactive. We had to ask to place our appetizer order, wait for silverware after the food arrived, and flag her down to order entrées—about 35–40 minutes after being seated. When the check came, we opted not to mention the current “Buy One Entrée, Get 50% Off” promotion because of the delays we had already experienced. We were happy to support a local business during a challenging time, but unfortunately, the food and service fell short of expectations, and it’s not an experience that would bring us back.
I'm sorry but the embers by stone oak has better customer service than this one! Today I came in for a remake order from the previous day being that I was staying at the Drury inn next door I later learnt that the bartender Taylor was bartending and taking care of us!! COMMUNICATION is the key! If ur busy just come by and say that that way ur guess don't get impatient and think there being ignored! Everyone else was being tended to except for us were African American and I would hate to think it had anything to do with our skin color! After Taylor finally acknowledged us the queso came out super cold the pizza was hard and over cooked and theanager Stephen was not apologetic about it! Taylor made us feel like we could not afford to be there will definitely not be returning
