Opinions de Queenstown Bistro San Diego
We saw the sign that said their wagu beef burger was voted the best in San Diego. We had to try it. It was delicious. Well worth the price. That was the best burger we have had in a while. 5 stars all around. We will definitely go there again every time we visit San Diego for Comic Con.
Man, I am glad I felt the urge to check this place out. I had heard they do mimosas to go, they had a sign confirming that, but by the time we left I was far too full to want to even consider it! Very dog friendly, they were even putting dogs "inside" (the whole place is just covered patios, so no matter where you sit you'll be a bit exposed to the elements). We got one of the tables right out front, and it was so much fun for people watching! We had a great time just seeing all the people (and their dogs of course) walking by. They had $5 mimosas while we were there, which was fun. Oh my gosh, the chicken pot pie was enormous! I have a big appetite and I could barely finish it, but I did because it was also insanely good. My wife enjoyed her lamb burger. They have a big bowl of dog treats out front, and our dogs enjoyed those as well. The prices are definitely a bit expensive here, but the portion sizes definitely made up for it. We will certainly be back here.
I really enjoyed my time at this restaurant. Especially the meat scrambles which serve only during the weekend. I also highly recommend New Zealand Brekkie, and soup and Sammie. The Steak & Caesar and Steak & Eggs are also very delicious. I would recommend everyone who comes to this restaurant to have tries on those dishes.
I can't possibly say enough about this fabulous dinner that we had. This structure used to be a home and was turned into a restaurant so now it is commercial. When you walk in the restaurant you feel like you've been transported to a different time. Best food and service ever!!!!!
Some of the servers did seem a little tired, guess they just had a bad day. BUT most of the crew were very kind and helpful! I loved the food, atmosphere, how they have open space where you can feel the breeze and sunlight, everything. Definitely recommended. The price was very affordable compared to the quality of food.
That fact that it's outside but zoned off perfectly. Making it feel like you still inside a restaurant. Staff was awesome and always was making sure my table was well taken care of. Wine selection was awesome and food fits a bistro. Well worth the visit. A must go too!!!
This is the second time we had the pleasure of eating at this awesome little outdoor bar/restaurant which is located in the Westfield UTC shopping center. We stopped in on a recent Sunday afternoon after shopping at Room & Board. Queenstown Bistro has created a very cool ambiance with greenery separating seating areas, nice lighting, seating and a great decorative ceiling! It was a little cool the day we were there, but they had lots of heaters going which made it cozy. We started with an Aperol smash and a Canela café old fashioned - both were delicious. They have fantastic burgers here, including a "burger of the month", but this time we both ordered the Wagyu double smash burgers which were incredible! Our server was very personable and attentive. We noticed they are very friendly and accommodating to dogs! Our server set out a little bowl of water for the dog at the table next to us. The family even ordered a simple cooked chicken breast for the pup! One downside is that there's no restroom right on the premises. You have to go across the way to the indoor food court area. There is free 2 hr parking in the UTC lot. We shopped at Room & Board and they gave us a ticket for an additional 2 hours parking.

If you're vegan and struggle to find tasty, wholesome food in San Diego, go to Queenstown in UTC/La Jolla and order the veggie wrap. O.M.G. Smooth and crunchy at the same time and my mouth did a happy dance! I was told not to say anything to the chef, but I don't care if his ego is the size of Montana. It.was.amazing.

Ordered the chicken BLT. It was made with dark chicken meat which was dry. I was expecting white meat. Atmosphere was nice and prices were reasonable.
A nice place to eat. The food was really good. We loved the NZ sausage rolls the most. The service was slow due to the bar tender being the only server working. Even though the food was good, we felt it was over priced.
I recently returned from a fantastic holiday in New Zealand and fell in love with several things, their Sauvignon Blanc and their hand pies topping the list. So, when I returned, I HAD to look for a restaurant that could serve me some delicious NZ cuisine. Queenstown Bistro in Westfield Mall has been a staple there for at least 6 years now but somehow I'd never put Queenstown and NZ cuisine together! We got reservations for a Sunday night. They made sure to confirm our reservation with us. Once seated, we ordered the Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Noir from the Villa Maria Vineyards in NZ (I had wanted to visit but we ran out of time in NZ). Both wines were delicious. I don't think I can drink any other kinds of Sauvignon Blanc any more! For food, we ordered the meat pie appetizer (2 meat pies) and the lamb skewers. The meat pie was delicious but a little unidirectional, meaning that it was good meat, but I would've liked a hint of mint, BBQ, some veggies, cheese or something more. Since I may not find those delicious hand pies from Arrowtown, NZ here, these pies were definitely worth trying out (and I will eat them again). The lamb skewers were my friend's favorite. From her first bite, she could not stop raving about how tasty they were. I think they could've had more spice, but honestly, I feel that about any skewer because I like an explosion of flavor with the small bites. The pita bread and hummus that came with them were mouthwatering. I have been rationing myself on the hummus because I don't want to finish it and every day since our visit, it seems to taste better! To end the meal, we ordered another entree - the chicken pot pie. Ok, that was an explosion! Chef's kiss, 100%. The pie dough was flaky, layered and perfect. The chicken pot pie itself was simply bursting with comforting, creamy, warm flavors. This is an open pie so please don't expect more crust. This was the star of the evening for me. Next time I come here, the meat pie, the chicken pot pie and a glass of crispy Sauvignon Blanc is what my order will look like!! P.s. it is primarily patio seating with heaters. The tables are fairly close so when busy, it could get overwhelming. Parking at the mall is either uncovered or in covered garages.
I had the Meat scramble and was very tasty, I asked for my pieces of steak to be well cooked but it was still medium in my scramble... 🤨 I also had a pomegranate mimosa, it didn't really taste like pomegranate but it was okay...🥂 Nice atmosphere especially on a nice day ☀️
I had lunch reservations at Queenstown Bistro on a Friday and we were seated immediately. I had the kale and salmon salad and enjoyed it! The salmon was well seasoned and it was a good portion. Overall, I thought this was a nice lunch spot. Just FYI, they don't like to split checks here so if you come with a group, keep that in mind.
Starting off, the food here is really good but a bit expensive for the amount you get. We had the "ittie bitties" which are two sliders with relish and mayo on them accompanied by fried potatoes. The sliders were awesome but I think one more would have been fair for the price of $22. The servers seemed a tad awkward when interacting but they were kind and visited our table often. The atmosphere is very nice with lots of greenery and complimentary colors but the location is really small and a bit cramped with it's seating.

I wanted to try this place because I liked Dunedin (I believe they are sister restaurants). I ordered NZ Meat Pies, NZ sausage roll and NZ Chicken pot pie. The meat pies and sausage rolls were good. The chicken pot pie was salty but i liked the puff pastry. Overall It wasn’t as good as I expected. I returned a week later for happy hour. I’m sad they took NZ meat pies off the happy hour menu. Anyway, I ordered a pretzel, which was pretty good. The Wagyu burger and BLT sandwich were tasty. The potato wedges were not good at all. The red sangria was ok. I don’t think they worth the price I paid for. The guy who served us didn’t smile at all and was quite rude when I asked questions about the food and happy hour menu. He made me wouldn’t want to go back there. I would go back to Dunedin for my NZ cravings in the future.

Went here today for an early dinner, we shared a “Pretzel” with jalapeño cheese sauce, it was good but definitely not worth $15. I had the Meso Tasty Sandwich that was pretty tasty but it was slathered in the red pepper aioli that started dripping all over the place. It had way too much sauce on it, the sandwich fell apart 1/2 way before I was finished because it got too soggy. They “don’t have a fryer” so they bake their wedges which they need to bake much longer because they were kinda undercooked. My friend had the Veggie Wrap which she said was just ok. All in all it was a disappointing meal and we will not be going back.

I was just there with my husband and nobody came to attend us after they gave us the table we were waiting but they were just passing by without even offering water or saying hello We really like this place and the food but we left because the wait was too long. Nobody ever showed up to our table
I haven’t had a horrible dining experience in years! Both of the men (a tan older man and a tall white guy) that served us today had horrible attitudes from the moment we sat down. I ordered a mai tai which tasted bad to me and my friend so I asked to exchange for a simple margarita that also tasted horrible. Neither of us could bear drinking it. She got a jalapeño mule which she said was decent. The food was good. Just really bad service.
Decided to have lunch here - was told it would be 10 minutes for a table so put our name on waitlist. After 20 minutes, other patrons were seated ahead of us. When questioning why, the security person was rude with attitude. Asked to be seated and then have Manager come over so we could discuss the issue more discretely. Kept asking to be seated and security person gave increasing attitude. Met the manager and said we could fill him in on the issue once seated but again we weren’t taken to our table. Security person initiated more tension and the manager told us to leave. Will never go back to this place. Other reviews indicate serious issues with service . All we wanted to do is discuss with manager what happened - obviously didn’t care.
Have been here many times and have no idea what has happened to this place. Went with three friends waited about 25 minutes for a table and once seated waited another 10 for the server to come over. We were ready to order, which seemed to annoy him as he only wanted to take our drink order and come back. Insisted we were ready. Took 40 minutes for the food to arrive and two of our meals were luke warm. Server never came back to ask how our food was or refill our drinks. Sat there with empty glasses. Was going to ask for manager, but decided, we aren't coming back, to many other options at UTC.
We’ve eaten at this restaurant over a dozen times and have never had such a bad experience as today. We waited for over 10 minutes for our waiter to address the table and to take our order. It was very slow. Maybe 6-7 tables total sitting down. I asked for a different waiter explaining that it’s ridiculous to have to wait that long. The waiter then threw a temper tantrum when I asked to switch and told us to leave. On a yelp review their owner said things escalated because of profanity when in all reality they escalated because their “manager” got his feelings hurt and told us to leave. Had he switched us servers things would have never gotten that far. I understand standing up for your staff, but at the same time you should probably ask yourself who the hell you put in managerial positions if they have zero clue how to handle things. Plain and simple, service was EXTREMELY slow, a request to switch servers hurt the managers feelings and he kicked us out. Of course that’s going to make someone angry. Maybe it’s the “manager” that should be taught how to handle things instead of trying to blame things on unhappy customers. Take accountability.

We were seated and were waiting for about 10 min without any help or drinks. With the sun on our back, we decided to move the table and the chairs a few feet over. Once done, our rude older male waiter came out of nowhere and started berating us saying not to touch the umbrellas as they might fall over. We laughed it off as we told him no one is touching your precious umbrellas and asked if we can get some drinks already. He said that he will be right back to get our order. When we saw him go and help the 2 other tables that came after us, we just got up and left. No need for all this negative energy and rude service. Wish we got his name so we could call him out. It was Friday around 4 pm sitting on the outside patio so management could hopefully figure out who he was and train him proper.
