Opinions de The Holding Company San Diego
Best cocktails I've ever had in my life, "Five O'clock Somewhere" and "Vigilante Shit." Very friendly service. They offered us to the roof, and since the weather is cold I was doubting it but they have heaters and they fell amazing!! Highly recommend you guys come and hang out here!! Great drinks and the most delicious wings ever!! Thanks Holding Company for making this Sunday experience in ocean beach a 10 out of 10 for us.
We ordered the Skrewball Chicken and Waffles the Country Fried Steak. Both were super good. All in all we were a party of 8 and we all shared the OB Noodle House Wings and Korean Fried Chicken Wings. I hella liked the Korean Fried Chicken better. We also split a Mimosas Tower and a Redbull Vodka Tower. Server was great and food was great. Can’t complain
I grabbed food and drinks on a Friday night here, around 8:15pm. It was easy to grab a table on the top floor for a view of the city at night. The food came out quick and was very tasty! The drinks were delicious and fun! I’d recommend checking this place out for fun drinks, great service and a laid back atmosphere!
We hosted a private event party here and everything was amazing. We worked with Vivian who was super accommodating and responsive. Compared to other event spaces, Vivian was the one who responded promptly and answered all of our questions. We reserved the rooftop and the view was amazing, and the whole vibe was great. We were helped by Lily, Levi, and Scott and they all took care of us! They were all super welcoming and helpful! The food and drinks were all amazing, our guests kept raving about them surprised at the quality. If you're thinking of your next private event, definitely give The Holding Company a call!
What’s there to say about the holding company? It is the hub of original live awesome music booked by an even cooler guy, Jake. The food is one of a kind if you’re in San Diego and you wanna check out ON noodle house come here to the holding company and it’s the same menu. The trademark wings are the best on the planet if you like dry rub tastiness these are for you. The house made fried rice also is amazing and taste super fresh not greasy and super clean highly recommend the holding company A+ plus plus plus plus
We had our wedding after party at the Holding Company. After checking out a few different places, we stopped by the Holding Company and immediately liked the look and feel of the place. As soon as we walked in we could picture our party there! Vivian was super easy to work with, and very communicative! I appreciated that when I had questions she was unsure about, she would respond to my emails (so I wasn’t just left wondering if I’d ever hear back) and let me know that she was asking someone else to get confirmation. Overall, we had a great experience at the Holding Company. Vivian was awesome to work with, the drinks were tasty, the DJ was great, and the vibes were right!
The customer service was great! Rosa helped us get set up & checked on us several times to make sure everything was going great with our service/food. Recommend making a reservation to get the perfect table with a view of the ocean. They have music on the floor level. Didn't make it to the bottom level this time but I will definitely go back.
This restaurant is an absolute gem in San Diego, offering not only delicious food but also breathtaking rooftop views. Watching the sunset from here is a must—there’s something magical about enjoying a great meal while taking in the stunning colors of the sky and the cityscape. The atmosphere is vibrant and stylish, making it a perfect spot for a date night, a fun evening with friends, or even a special celebration. The food is just as impressive as the view. The menu features trendy, beautifully plated dishes that are both flavorful and satisfying. We had the taco buns, crispy rice poke bites, and wings—all of which were incredible. The taco buns were soft and packed with bold flavors, the crispy rice poke bites had the perfect crunch with fresh, well-seasoned fish, and the wings were crispy, juicy, and perfectly spiced. Every bite was a delight! To top it off, the cocktails were just as amazing. Each drink was carefully crafted, balanced, and refreshing, complementing the meal perfectly. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic cocktail or something more creative, there’s something for everyone. The combination of delicious food, fantastic drinks, and unbeatable views makes this place a must-visit when in San Diego. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience with a stunning backdrop, this is definitely the place to be.
This place is both a music venue and restaurant. Three floors to enjoy, all with prompt service and an enjoyable atmosphere. The staff is friendly and welcoming, as well as Ocean Beach locals. So they are up to date with events, weather and locations of pretty much anything you ask. The food is cooked fresh from order, delicious and unique to Ocean Beach. Bathrooms on two of the three floors, plenty of space to mingle, eat or rock out. The live music performed is posted online, to give an opportunity to purchase pre-sale tickets. As well as on their marques that is displayed facing the main road, Newport Ave. They support and book all types of genres on the first floor, so audiences are diverse. The second floor usually has a DJ (at least on weekends and every time I've been there).
This place is awesome! Friendly staff, great food/cocktails, amazing views and top notice audio for their concerts. One of my favorite places in Ocean Beach! Update: Last night I hit up The Holding Company for their Veggie Fried Rice. Usually I would have ordered fried rice with chicken etc… but this time I decided to go with a vegetarian option. Wow! Surprisingly The Holding Company has quickly made me a tofu lover. A few weeks ago I tried their tofu fries and LOVED it. Now this plate had tofu on it and it was absolutely delicious!! I never knew tofu could taste so good. (I sound like a kid trying something new for the first time 😂) This Veggie Fried Rice had Satay sauce, tofu, Chinese broccoli, pineapple, onion, carrot, peas, scallions, egg, cashews and Thai basil. It’s an absolute winner! This will definitely be added to my, “I don’t feel like cooking at home but will just call in a local order to go” meal. Though the hot skillet plate it is served on is also part of the charm. Everything on the plate stays hot with every bite for at least 15-20 minutes. Update 2: Stir-Fry Noodles at The Holding Company are straight🔥!!! I thought I’d only be able to eat half (it’s a big portion) but it was soooooo good I ate it all and already want more. It’s Shrimp, Beef, chicken, cabbage, carrots, celery, onion, sesame seeds, green onion and tasty noodles. Update 3: Saturday night after work I splurged for my bday dinner on the rooftop at The Holding Company while watching the calm ocean before the storm. I killed four birds with one stone this visit (trying four new things in one memorable night). I tried their Teriyaki Salmon that was served with rice and side salad with house mango vinaigrette. It was cooked to absolute perfection! 🔥 Then I got great drinking tips from the ever so kind Marisa who was helping me out. 🍹The first crafted cocktail she recommended was their ‘Drunk in Love’ (haku vodka, house made watermelon, coconut and fresh lime). The watermelon and coconut was a perfect blend and I’m not usually a big fan of coconut. After I finished it I will also now recommend this drink to everyone. 🔥The second cocktail was their ‘La La Land’ (rum haven coconut rum, fresh lime, guava, simple syrup and coconut). This was even better than the first cocktail. I’m not a fan of guava or coconut but this tasted like a delicious fluffy cloud. I guess I can no longer say, “I don’t like guava/coconut” because I loved this drink. 🔥🔥 The last cocktail was their ‘California Love’ (hornitos silver tequila, house made ancho reyes verde, house made passion fruit puree, fresh lime, house ancho chili rim). Yo! This was even better than the previous two drinks that were already amazing. That house ancho chili rim on the glass created the perfect spicy experience. 🔥🔥🔥 Then while walking downstairs I caught the tail end of a great concert (Seven Year Witch). I went for the food and then stayed for a show. Update 4: The other night I hit the rooftop of The Holding Company for their great happy hour menu and amazing sunset views. Ordered the Garlic Edamame then I tried their HoCo Poke Bowl (with choice of salmon or ahi) and choose the Ahi. It came with a beautiful artwork presentation of sushi rice, edamame, seaweed, mushrooms, pickled ginger, fresh ginger, cucumber, green onion, spicy mayo and lotus root. This was actually a big meal by itself (all the Ahi was buried underneath). Every bite was truly divine. 🔥 I didn’t want the bowl to end. Then I tried something I would have never ordered from a menu in a million years, their Tofu Fries which were caramelized garlic, salt and peoper dry rub, scallions, satay-sriracha and aioli. What!? I never knew tofu could be prepared and taste so good. In the past I just looked at tofu as that unappealing white square blob of blandness. 😂 Now I’ll definitely have tofu on my radar. Very impressed! These three items together became the perfect meal to split with a friend.
I honestly can't think of a bad thing about this place. They have their drink menu on a receipt and a QR code for the food. Just watch out, no one under 21. The doorman at the front will ID you before you head up. First floor is for a night events, second is the bar and an indoor/outdoor sitting area, but people usually congregate on the roof/3rd floor and everyone likes to watch the sunset. Bathrooms are clean. I thought it was just a bar but the food is amazing. The curry is great. The Korean fried chicken took me back to when I lived in Seoul. It was a pleasant surprise. Definitely Recommend a visit.
This place was so good we went there twice. Dinner was on the Roof top bar and was perfect for sunset. Had the Korean fried chicken wings, tropic thunder wing and the peanut butter wings 👌🙌 my friend is obsessed with peanut butter so of course we had the PB whiskey shot along with a couple “comfortably numb” drinks (those buzz buttons were awesome!) Brunch on Easter Sunday wasn’t busy surprisingly. Had the crab cake benni & chicken fried steak brunch with a bottle of watermelon mimosas 🥂
Great spot with an awesome vibe, the food was delicious, those wings were honestly the best I’ve had in ages, pairing them with one of the many beers they offer was the perfect combo. The hostesses and doorman were super chill and welcoming, one waiter seemed a bit stressed or in a rush, so the service wasn’t ideal at that moment, but I get it.
We enjoyed this place, it was our first time, disappointed the only level available was 2nd, went there to sit on top. Besides that, our food was delicious, had the eggplant dish (can't remember the name) loved it, will definitely be back for that. The tofu fries were good, wished the dipping sauce was something better, spicier with chili oil. The popcorn chicken was good as well and glad we ordered it. Overall we enjoyed our time and appreciated our server, he was knowledgeable and pleasant.
The atmosphere and decor were good but the was very dirty. Dust has accumulated for what looks like at least months. It was on lights fixtures, door hinges, decor, etc... I was there to support kids musical performances. I did not eat and only had water that my husband got for me when he went hunting to get a beer. I stood next to the bar the whole hour plus I was there and no staff asked if I wanted anything. Granted, it was busy but the customer service was very much lacking.
I’ve been coming to The Holding Company since it opened and have always enjoyed the staff, service, and overall vibe — it’s been one of my go-to spots that I frequently recommend and bring new people to. Unfortunately, after a recent experience, I feel compelled to share a very disappointing and upsetting incident. We visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday and brought our dog along. From the start, everything went smoothly — we were greeted kindly by the security at the entrance, made our way to the rooftop where our dog quietly sat with us, and later moved to the second floor to continue our afternoon with food and drinks. Throughout the day, our dog remained well-behaved and unnoticed, and we received excellent service as always from our server. After nearly eight hours of being there without any issue, we asked for our bill — at which point a new security guard, who we were told has only been working there for about two months, approached us aggressively to say dogs weren’t allowed. This was confusing and frustrating, given that we had been allowed in with our dog by the downstairs security team, and had been there all day without a single concern raised. Thankfully, our server and other staff stepped in to de-escalate and made it clear we were simply wrapping up. However, instead of letting the matter go, the security guard went downstairs and loudly began complaining about us to others. When I stood up for myself and explained that we were let in with the dog and had been there peacefully, he became verbally aggressive — making rude, personal comments, including insulting my appearance, saying I “need to bleach my hair more.” This crossed a serious line. No customer — especially a loyal one who supports and respects the staff — should be subjected to public embarrassment, harassment, or inappropriate personal insults, especially over something that wasn’t even an issue until the very end of the visit. I’ve always loved this place and the people who work here, but this experience has made me question whether I can continue to support a business where a staff member (particularly security) feels comfortable belittling a woman over a situation that was poorly handled from the start. I truly hope management takes this seriously. No one should be made to feel unsafe or disrespected for simply advocating for themselves — especially when they’ve done nothing wrong.
