My experience here at the Blue Mermaid was one that I'll always remember. The food was very good, but honestly, it was the service that made the entire experience for me. My server, Brian, went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of. He has such a great smile and so much positive energy. I swear the food tasted so much better because I was being treated with such kindness as if my experience was Brian's top priority. I wish that every dining experience I have would be like this. To the manager of the Blue Mermaid, you have such a gem on your hands, in addition to great food! The crab and corn chowder and fish and chips were some of the best I've ever tasted. Everything about this experience was fantastic.

Phenomenal cioppino! The chowder was delicious, tenderloin was prepared to perfection- even the side basmati rice was great. We enjoyed the fusion flavors, friendly server and relaxing atmosphere 🙌

The location is centrally located in Fisherman’s Wharf and easy to walk to if you’re staying in the area. I got a bowl of the Dungeness Crab & Corn Chowder. It was good but didn’t pack the punch of flavor I was hoping for. We also got the Crispy Chicken Bites which were also good. The chicken was cooked perfectly and they had a kick of heat to them. We had a minor issue where my friend’s water glass was chipped and our server Karina took care of it right away. The service here is exceptional. For dessert we had the Chocolate Cremeux which was the best plate of the night. It came with a soft round serve of dark chocolate and a lighter mix, with a really flavorful sorbet, raspberry drizzle, and blueberries. It was fantastic! We had to try not to lick the plate since there were others around. The Blue Mermaid was our first meal since flying into San Francisco and they did not disappoint. Thank you team!

Came with the family on Thursday for an early dinner (6PM) and had the restaurant almost to ourselves. The food was great, service was great, the drinks were alright. I got the burger and my girlfriend got the scallops, both were great. I didn’t try it but the chowder my sister got looked amazing.

We stayed at the Argonaut, which has been special all on its own, with its character, attention to detail and location, but dining at Blue Mermaid was a singular experience. The service was fantastic from the moment we walked in and the food was delicious. My seared Sea Scallops (which I requested with potato instead of lentil rice) were perfectly cooked and stunningly presented, my mom had the fish and chips with delicious, fresh cod. We also tried both the Chocolate Cremeux and Mango Variations for dessert, both of which were again delicious and made you want to keep tasting for the flavours and textures. I highly recommend this dining experience at the corn of Hyde & Jefferson just a couple blocks from Fisherman's Wharf.

We had a delightful lunch at Blue Mermaid, and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The corn and crab chowder is highly recommended, and Luis took good care of us.

This was a charming place to stop for lunch. It wasn’t crowded, and we were able to quickly grab a table. The burger and fish and chips were decent, nothing standout but satisfying after biking through the city. The nautical decor added a cozy, unique touch, making it a pleasant spot to relax and recharge. A nice choice for a casual meal!

My family enjoyed Christmas dinner at the Blue Mermaid. The place was very nicely decorated for the holiday. It was very festive, and the ambiance was just right for the occasion. We had a reservation, and we had no wait as our table was ready upon arriving. We started with the crab bisque soup. That was my favorite item of the night. It was spicy and tasty, not too heavy. For entrees, our table had the roasted chicken risotto, the salmon with mixed veggies, and a NY strip steak with fries and mixed veggies. The risotto and chicken was good. The chicken was a bit overcooked and dry, but was helped along with the risotto. The salmon and veggies were delicious. The veggies had a strong hint of mint, which was a little overpowering. The NY steak was requested medium, but it came out more medium-well. Same as the chicken, it was a bit dry. The fries were crispy and delicious. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake and eggnog terra cotta. The chocolate cake was divine and finished quickly. Good stuff. The panna cotta was a bit to sour for my taste. It was also more runny than I am accustomed. As for service, it was ok. The staff was friendly and helpful, but seemed a bit frazzled with the amount of tables. We only saw our waiter a few times. We ordered a salad, which never came. It still came on the check even though we asked for it to be removed, so we had to ask for it to be removed, which created a longer wait to pay. We also were slowly served for drinks, and the coffee/espresso machine was out of order. A nice espresso drink, or the ability to have one, would have been a nice touch. Overall, we had a good meal and experience.

We picked Blue Mermaid for dinner. The space is stylish, the menu looked great, and the food delivered everything we ordered was tasty and we left happy on that front. I’m taking off one star for the service, though. Even with the restaurant nearly empty, things were slow and not very friendly. It was a chilly evening, so we asked for a patio heater. The first one wouldn’t ignite; they tried a second — also a no-go. We then asked about the nearby fire pit. They got it lit, but it faded out after a minute, like the propane tank had run out. Meanwhile we were still cold, and no one offered to move us closer to the only working fire pit, even though there were open tables right by it. Little details didn’t help either utensils were dropped in the middle of the table instead of being set individually. Overall, I’d still recommend Blue Mermaid for the food and atmosphere, but don’t come expecting attentive service on a cold night.

We chose to sit outside the restaurant because of the whole atmosphere that the city of San Francisco demands. We only ordered two dishes: a cold tuna and a calamari. The calamari could have been crispier, and the portion of the cold dish could have been more generous for the price. Something that really bothers me in some restaurants is the practice of bringing you the bill without you asking for it. This goes 100% against the rules of good service. By doing this, they end up preventing you from returning to the place instead of inviting you back. It's a shame this happens. Please re-evaluate your concepts. The world has changed!

We were staying at the Hotel Caza a couple of blocks away. We ordered two sharing plates and a main to share and topped it off with dessert. The building is gorgeous. Absolutely wonderful repurpose. Services and atmosphere were good but the food was not. Eggs tasted and looked like they were powder (the staff assured us they were not though), pancakes were similarly unimpressive, and $6 cappuccinos were clearly made by a cheap machine. Considering how expensive the food and drinks were we expected far better.

Overall, the dishes are tasty, the portions are average, but the waitstaff, especially the tall girl with a ponytail, seemed a bit arrogant, because when I was ordering, I saw an expression on her face as if I were asking for money. Oh yes, their glasses and dishes are very dirty and some are broken.
