Opinions de Phở Passion San Jose
I love this place! Kimberly is SO KIND - anytime I’ve come here, I’ve always gotten the best service. And their food is so good! It’s my favorite pho spot in San Jose. (Spring rolls are bomb too) I also want to mention their atmosphere- the restaurant itself is so cute and very clean. I highly recommend!
This is such a fun spot to go with friends! The food and drink menu's have something delicious for everyone. My go-to order: House Pho and a Young Coconut Juice. With the ample room and spacious seating area, you may even see a special Buddy on Wheels bringing appetizers to your table!
I’ve tried about 4 other pho spots in San Jose and I have to say this one is the best. The broth was very tasteful yet light, and you can customize the type of noodles you want in your pho. They also ask if you want basil, which might be a small point but I notice at a lot of pho places the basil goes unused by customers, so I thought that was nice. The service was great, my food came out quick and the hostess was very kind/helpful. I got a large serving and it was more than enough. The tea was also some of the best tea I’ve tried downtown. So not only is the pho delicious, I’d return just to order some tea to go. Going to have to make this my new go to pho spot. If you’re looking around trying to find a good pho place, no need to take your time going around and trying them one by one like me. This is the spot.
I’ve eaten here three times now. The food is very consistent. It is excellent. I get the pork sandwich combo. It is amazing better than any other Vietnamese restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. Tony The server truly loves his job. You could tell By the way He takes care of everybody. Excellent place I highly recommend it.
Pho Passion lives-up to its name. First I had the Spring Rolls which were the freshest that I’ve ever eaten, anywhere. Everything was so fresh that it was just a pleasure to take a bite and to savor the tastes. Yes tastes ... and textures. The wrapper was unusually delicate but elastic; the veggies were really fresh and therefore tasty, each in their own way. Yes, if you chew slowly, you can taste them. I got the House Special Pho. In lesser restaurants the noodles are served cold and the broth is warm; not hot enough to make the noodles and soup hot as you start eating. Not here. The soup was very hot and when I stirred the bowl, all’s well. Of course, Pho is served with basil leaves and bean-sprouts; be sure to tear the basil leaves into little bits and rub them hard between your thumb and index fingers before immersing them into the soup. Then, mix. One reason for five stars is that the broth was tasty. I didn’t have to add Hoisin. And even though it might have been good towards the end, I chose not to mask the other flavors. Enjoy!!!
Amazing food! I recommend dining in — I tried taking it out once, and it wasn’t as good as when you eat in.
The restaurant is always clean and well-organized, including the bathrooms, which are consistently clean. I’ve never had any issues with the food or customer service—everyone is friendly and approachable. They even have a cute little robot that delivers water, napkins, and small dishes, which my daughter loves. Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s downtown, but that’s expected. Despite that, we’ve always managed to find a spot right in front of the restaurant. The fried rice is fantastic, and I’m a big fan of the broth—it hits the spot.
The boba was so good!!!!!!!!! I like the honey dew and roasted mad house!!!!!! Pho was also reallllyyy good!!! Great services!!
Good god was this the best Pho I have ever had
It was such a cute atmosphere! I would definitely study here during Finals week but also they have a cute little robot to bring refreshments and small little foods! It was really cool! But the Pho itself is really yummy! I ate the small 2. Steak and Meatball Pho, it filling and delicious! This is definitely added to the Clean Bowl club! 👍
Pho passion had some of the best fried rice I had ever and boba was refreshing. Price was reasonable and service was great. I would definitely recommend this place for a meal any day of the week. Easy parking and convenient location near San Jose State is another plus. Highly recommend it.
Charming family-owned Pho restaurant near San Jose downtown. Fresh noodles and ingredients that makes the food taste even better. The restaurant can be booked for big events. Call for details. The service is very fast with wall-e on duty as well. Strongly recommend.
This place was amazing. The pho broth was amazing and flavorful; the spring rolls were super good, and the peanut sauce was perfect; my fiance got the Taro milk tea and I got the Matcha latte. The matcha latte was super yummy, and the taro was as well but the boba was a bit rubbery. Other than that, 10/10 would recommend coming here.
Omgoodness! The food here is delicious! Definitely recommend the spring rolls, gyozas and wonton soup. I highly encourage to try the Thai banana crepes **chefs kiss** 👌🏼
Today, it’s the first time I came pho Passion & Mintea. I tried Pho with sour & spicy broth unbelievable, it’s so tasty. I have read comments before i came there. I thought that quality pho as price. I loved steak there because they used filet mignon. I think that they are one of restaurants in using sanjose goods beef for steak pho. I recommend everyone should come there to try.
Pho is delicious and full of flavor. We had Gyosa as an appetizer. I ordered the Sour and Spicy, it was 🥵 but delicious. My wife ordered Beef Pho without cilantro. Unfortunately, they forgot to take out the cilantro. However, it was delicious. A unique thing about the place was the robotic waiter that dropped off the condiments. It makes for a unique talking point.
Grabbed lunch for business meeting. Was a great experience as they have patio dining in the front (albeit only 2 small tables). Ordered the chicken Pho which was amazing and was very quick to be delivered. Saigon peach tea was fantastic. Amicable staff and great service. Ambiance was nice.
Frankly, I’m quite pleased with their quality and amazed that we have such a gem just a few blocks away. The reason I highly recommend this restaurant is they passed all of my flavor tests; (A) How it tastes without basil and lemon (great), (B) How it tastes with sriracha and hoisin sauce (flavor pops), (C) How it tastes with basil and lemon, (blends perfectly). I always like to test the flavors without and with all extra ingredients to give a decent comparison to other places. I usually order Pho Tai Bo Vien, and as of today, Pho Passion is the place I will look forward to with my next Pho meal. The meal would definitely would pair well with a tea or a light beer (though I don’t recall if they sell alcohol). Lastly, I loved how the seats were spaced far enough to accommodate social distancing. I get anxiety when I’m too close to people, and I’d much rather respect peoples spaces while enjoying my meals unlike some areas where people are still eating elbow to elbow, which is a shame. But if you’re ever around Santa Clara Street just between 7th and 8th street, come check out Pho Passion and enjoy yourself a wonderful meal.
It was my first time exploring this area in downtown San Jose and I was craving for soup because it was 50ish degrees outside, and I was tired of getting food at the SU. So my brother and I went here to grab some pho and it was amazing! Loved the food we ordered (takoyaki, fries, boba (their recommendation)) and the overall vibe of the place was great! Loved the greenery inside! Highly recommend this place especially this fall/winter season 🍂
2/18/2024 at 11:30am. Not crowded. Open Sunday. Not enough coffee in cafe su da. Could have included some more meat.

I had Vietnamese pork and seafood noodles, which was so flavorful and perfect for this winter. They gave us so many toppings. Then, I rcm you guys try roasted mad milk tea, which is my fav drink. Also, remember to add a flan 😋

Really like the beef broth here. I would recommend not coming at a weekday rush hour since there is limited parking (being downtown) and also the staff are severely rushed. I made the mistake of coming here during the lunch rush and my table didn't even get napkins until we asked, and my caramel flan fresh milk didn't come out until about 30 minutes later. However, the drink was good and the pho was good, so I just recommend coming at a different time if you want to enjoy your food (and have napkins).
In my perfect word, there would be a late night restaurant called; “Twenty PHO Seven”. 🍜🍲 I was scrolling though my Facebook when this ad came up for B1G1 bowl of pho. Being a Vietnamese food fanatic, I could not pass up on this offer for a free bowl of Pho. Upon doing my research, I found out there used be to late night Vietnamese restaurant called City Restaurant. I went with my two friends to enjoy the Pho, Gyoza (chicken potstickers) batter fried shrimp, mozzarella cheese sticks and egg rolls. The pho was alright, the flat noodle is not fresh and is packaged, in my opinion. With fresh noodles, it’s thicker and has more of a solid look. My friend noticed how the breathing of waitress changed when she tried to claim that the “fresh” noodles comes in every day. Broth and meat quantity was alright. The Boba was delicious! My friend got the Thai Tiger, Thai tea with custard pudding and sea cream. @phopassionmintea 📍Pho Passion in Downtown San Jose San Jose, CA.
Pho Passion & MinTea Bar delivers when you want solid Vietnamese food with a relaxed vibe. The space is clean, modern, and welcoming. We tried the steak & brisket pho and a variety of tea drinks, and both hit nicely—the meat was generous, the broth flavorful, and the teas refreshing. The robot waiter was a fun touch and added some novelty without distracting. What works well: the staff is friendly; your order is usually ready quickly; the menu has good variety with noodle soups, fish balls, gyoza, and tasty sides. Portions are generous enough that you don’t feel short‑changed. Drinks are well done and paired nicely with the food. What could improve: when it’s busy, wait times go up, especially for popular pho bowls or hot appetizers. Parking is street parking mostly, so timing matters. Also, more frequent check‑ins by staff could improve service during peak hours—refilling water or asking if you need anything helps. Overall, Pho Passion & MinTea Bar is a solid go‑to for authentic Vietnamese pho, good boba/tea options, and a welcoming atmosphere in San Jose. If you’re craving a soup that warms you up or a flavorful noodle dish, this place delivers. Follow me and friend me for more real reviews that help you pick the right place before you even walk in.
Order at counter, sit, and they bring out your order. Pho was good. 3.5/5 compared to other pho I've had. Not much in regard to condiments. Hoysen sauce, Sriracha, and ketchup. But they do offer three different noodles to chose from. Regular, flat and egg noodles. Did the build-your-own option with, beef, brisket and crispy brisket. Nothing crispy in the bowl.
The sweet and spicy seafood pho and jasmine tea was very good! I’m only minus one star because when I walked in, the employee asked if I was dining in or take out and I said dining in. She then told me sorry only take out now. Lol like why would you ask me if it’s only one option now. But she was still nice and customer service was great as well! I definitely would come back!
I really only come for the 4 spring rolls with peanut sauce. It’s so yummy and light. $8.95 cool music playing all the time and clan with bathrooms Also just seen the robot come out delivering the food. Will always come back! We tried the fried calamari one time and did not like it.
Came here with the family. Everything was delicious. The staff was super friendly and answered all of our questions. Parking is tough because this is a busy street. But there is a shopping center across the street with plenty of parking. You just have to cross at the light. This is a must try if you are in the area or going to Xmas in the park.
They have service robots, kind of fun, but very minimum service. I still give restaurant 4 stars because I liked the way they let customers order Pho by customer's choices, you can order your preferred broth, noodles, and add-ons , and their broth do not have MSG. Their large size has quite big portion, I only could finish half of it.
I just wish I could sit down with my Fam and enjoy dinner at the restaurant. But we (obviously) order to go and ate at our hotel room... This place is in the heart of San Jose, CA. Super cute!!! Cashier was so sweet and the food was on point.

I'm American and don't have s lot of experience with Pho. I like the chicken one because they use breast meat. This really suits my preference. I got the passion fruit drink and it was good but too sweet even after asking for less sweet. After watering it down I enjoyed it more, but that's also just preference. Over all this is my favorite pho place and they are super fast with orders. Great for quick lunch. I've ordered on door dash as well and it was the same quality.

Ordered a spicy & sour chicken pho. It was just alright. I have tried better phos in other states. Service wise, staff were generally friendly, but service was a bit off - I ordered no onions and with basil, but it came exactly the opposite way lol. No big deal, but just not a good impression. Maybe Little Saigon area has more authentic choices?
I should’ve known better than to stay here and eat because looking around the restaurant I noticed that there is ketchup on all of the tables. That’s never a good sign for a Vietnamese restaurant. First, we had to order at the counter and there’s no menu displayed so we had to flip through the menu wow other customers were waiting, but that isn’t really the biggest issue. The biggest issue started when the point of sale tablet immediately prompted us for a 2025 or 30% tip mind you we’re standing at the counter to order. We sat down and waited for our food only to have our food delivered by a little robot driving around the restaurant so there wasn’t even a person taken care of our table now does the robots company get the tip? Does the robot get the tip or does the owner of the rest truck at the tip? Who knows. Anyways, the soup was very lackluster. The broth was weak. The amount of beef in the large was absolutely pathetic. I think I counted five pieces of steak, the vegetable and the vegetable for was again pathetic all of this for a quality $36 meal I think not skip this place and go elsewhere
It’s my first time today but I think I won’t come back again 1- Pho came just warm can’t even cook the bean sprouts 2- Seem they reuse the bean spouts leftover from previous customers, i saw the server clean the table and segregate the veggies, didn’t put together in food wasted bin like other restaurant did. 3- The table is dirty 4- We have diarrhea after that 5- The price is a bit high I hope the owner saw this comment and check again the restaurant
The boba is hard and rubbery. Don’t listen to the other reviews. I’m not sure you can consider this real boba. The tea is good though. And the lychee jelly.
I ordered takeout, and the food tasted off—so much so that I couldn’t even eat one dish and barely touched the other. An hour later, I experienced severe stomach cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea—the worst I’ve had in a long time. I honestly can’t believe they served me this food with a straight face.
$20 for a small Pho, after tax and tip. Barely any meat, bad value. Bowl was served warm (not hot and bean sprouts didn't cook through when added) PM shift on Friday - I can tell the cooks are working hard. Meanwhile register kids/front of house just doesn't care. There were 3 tables near me that stayed unbussed for 20 mins - so imagine trying to have your meal but 3 tables near you have food/trash on them. Pretty messed up when someone in front of house expects a hard worker in the back to serve/buss/cook while the kids at the register pick their nose and collect tips.
I went to this restaurant and I bought 3 sodas and I paid for those and the cashier name Nam wants to give me only one soda and wants to take 2 of the sodas that I paid for and wants to give them to the two costumers the mother and daughter for free because Nam likes the daughter that's why he wants to give two of my sodas I paid for to the mother and daughter. I refused and this is a scam. Nam wants to steal from me, but I blocked him from stealing from me. This is a scam and I will never go back to this restaurant again because too many scammers are working in this restaurant and I will never let them Steal anything from me.
Poor customer service! I order a fried rice bowl on doordash and pay over $20 for this but it comes to my house with no SPOON or FORK. It ruins my night for real cause I'm not at home or can find ultensils anywhere. They don't even feel bad to give me a napkin :( Also, the portion is small compare to the price btw
I ordered two raspberry bombs drinks and one Bee cup drink I also ordered two chicken wings. My drinks was taste like water and I tried to get a refund. They only gave me 3.50 back on $7.50 drinks with tax so I called I spoke with the young lady who work tonight. She said she made them herself took my address and said she will make them over but she will make them and deliver them. It was around 9:50 pm it’s now 10:50pm I called no answer from them. Nobody dropped off my teas and as you can see one drink is darker than the other one they were all watered down Poor service and I ordered from them a lot and spent a lot of money with them and I don’t only DoorDash I also bring family to eat there. I don’t know why they’re giving people poor service that support their restaurant😡I have received their poor service tonight.
