Thai Orchid is a cozy spot known for friendly service and flavorful Thai cuisine, especially the curries and house fried rice. It's popular for lunch, but some recent reviews mention a decline in food quality and excessive saltiness.

Nice little place to try Thai cuisine. Even mildly spicy option was enough to make me sweat 😅 Prices are low and portion size is reasonable. Very friendly and polite service. They don’t have much drinks choice. Interior is very simple, but they have some interesting art pieces on the walls. On weekday evening the place was almost empty, we got the table right away and didn’t wait long for our meal to be ready.
This is my favorite restaurant in North San Jose that has been open for a long time! Be sure to order the curry noodles! And the basil they use is really fresh
Came for saturday lunch, fast easy service and great curry. Can decide on spicy levels. Thai tea was just okay.
The place is cozy and has a very welcoming feel. The food is delicious and the people are friendly and prompt. The house fried rice was especially tasty and the experience was very satisfying. Great place for conversation.
Great place for a quick lunch. Friendly staff. The yellow curry was delicious and just the right amount of spice. I got medium and enjoyed it
Good food! Was a bit crowded but service was quick once we were seated.
This is an updated review as on our last visit to Thai Orchid in San Jose we noticed the quality of the food has declined. It is under new ownership as the food tastes heavily of MSG and was extremely salty. Sadly, post covid you can tell the food is not fresh anymore. We like having dinner at Thai Orchid during the weekdays because it's less crowded than the lunch hour. It's pretty quiet unless noisy customers are having dinner. The food is reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. The wait time for our dinner is decent, no long wait times. The portion sizes are good for sharing with family or friends. Parking is free.
Lot of Vegetarian options. Fried Tofu with Dipping was delicious for the starter. Main dish with PadThai Noodle. They can customize as per your needs. Good balance of Veggies in the bowl. If you need spicy, You will need to specify them or you might get the medium spicy food. Such a nice Decoration indoor to give you the Thai Feel! Such a nice family own restaurant. Very polite service.

I’m not usually a fan of this type of food, but while traveling with a friend, we randomly walked into this place — and I want to share my honest experience. This is not a fancy or flashy restaurant, but I was truly impressed by the warmth and flavor of the food. It’s a small, humble place, but the food is very tasty and well-prepared. The prices are fair for the quality they offer. The service was good, the atmosphere was calm, and overall it was a very pleasant experience. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something authentic, simple, and delicious.
This is my favorite restaurant. I come weekly, either by myself or with my colleagues. Been coming here for 13 years. I can't find comparable thai food. Pad Kee Mao is 5 stars.
Regularly come to Thai Orchid for lunch and dinner. Convenient Thai restaurant with quality food. Full crowd at lunch. Quiet at dinner (mostly take-away). I usually get Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Pad See Ew, and Shrimp Pineapple Fried Rice. Friends usually get curry of some kind.

Pad Woon Sen always reminds me of a homecooked meal from home. I enjoy getting it from here! The noodles are cooked well, so they don't stick together. The dish is a bit oily, but overall savory and flavorful. They give lots of cabbage and egg. I appreciate that the chicken was tender! If you come during lunch, they give you complimentary veggie soup too. I also tried the Pad Thai and it was delicious! Flavored very well and had the perfect chewy noodles. It's pretty oily though, especially if you pair it with fried tofu. More oily than the pad woon sen. I recommend bringing your own water bottle if you can. Not sure if it was an off day or if the tap water is just THAT gross... but the glass of water they served me tasted like soap!
The food was good but not the best. The veggie spring rolls were pretty good. The pineapple fried rice was decent but the pad Kee mow was a bit lacking. The service was really good and the waitress was very responsive. They take a maximum of 2 credit cards. It gets busy around 8 PM on weekday evenings.
Nice staff. Very fast service even though we went in 45 minutes before close. The food was good and spicy. Not too spicy even with Thai hot. Reasonable prices for San Jose.
Weekday lunch time it was quite busy. Food is ok. The pad Thai was super sweet, the appetizers were ok. The sticky mango rice the mango was very sour.
Good food and service but would probably not call this place serving authentic Thai (green peas?). Nevertheless the food is still good with the special “wok taste” for both the pad Thai and pineapple fried rice.

Nope.. i like thai food and have tried quite a few places. I tried red curry with mushrooms here. The hosts were nice and polite. Had high expectations.. was disappointed. The curry was too creamy, very less vegetables - vegetables quality was also so..so.., in the curry rice quality was sub par. The curry disappointed me the most!
Overall, the food was good, but the Pad Kee Mao didn't meet my expectations. It was quite salty and greasy and didn’t hit the mark for me.

Had a recent experience at a Thai restaurant – service was exceptional, but the food left room for improvement. The papaya salad had an appealing presentation, but the green beans seemed past their prime. The tom yum soup was ok but overpriced at 7$. The fried chicken wings were on the dry side, lacking moisture. The chicken basil fried rice, though flavorful, was a bit heavy on the oil with minimal basil. Recognizing the challenges in the restaurant business, I believe in giving any place a second chance. We all need that opportunity to shine!
I ordered a chicken curry for take-away, but when I got back to my hotel, I realized they didn’t include any utensils. The chicken was quite dry, and I barely ate much. The portion was also quite small. Additionally, the menu listed the curry as $17, but I was charged $21 for some reason. A bit disappointing overall.

My boyfriend ordered it for me on Doordash for dinner as a surprise since he could not be with me tonight for Valentine’s Day. Well, the pad see ew is the most bland “thai” food I have ever had in my life. It’s just greasy- no spices or flavor just salt!! Not even onions. It’s literally just like skimpy amounts of broccoli, chicken, noodles, and grease. Super disappointing!!
