Opinions de Ramen 101 San Leandro
my first time trying ramen. i got the chicken ramen and tempura shrimp. i fell in love. customer service is great. they are super friendly. we got our food fairly quick. the place is very cleanly. they are extremely careful if you address any allergies. i will be going back for more!
You want to eat here. This ramen is the real thing. I haven't had ramen this good since I was in Japan. It is EXCELLENT! Treat yourself and test it out. You will not regret it.l I tried it once and had to come back the next day to try another flavor. I was so impressed and satisfied with my meal. The only reason I didn't come back the same day is that it is so filling, as a good bowl of ramen should be. The broth, toppings, and noodles were all expertly done. The broth was rich and flavorful. The veggie and meat toppings were crispy, crunchy, and juicy respectively. I was even allowed to choose how spicy I wanted it. I was a little worried about takeout, but I could not have been happier. The broth was kept separate from the noodles and toppings so I didn't have a soggy mess when I got home. If you like authentic, Japanese ramen or you would like to try it, THIS is the place. Again, I could not have been happier. Also, it was so quick. I was barely done paying and was in the middle of asking how long it would be when I was handed my order. Wow. Delicious, filling, quick service. I could keep going but I have already gushed like a giddy fan for long enough. I am so happy this is my local ramen shop. My only regret is that I can't give a score HIGHER score than 5/5. Top quality. Also, I have a service dog and they let her inside.
Never had ramen that didn't come in a little bag with a tiny pack of seasoning. So I was in love with this place when my family and I had dinner here. The food was delicious and I wish I could have more. Staff was friendly and would come by to see how we were doing every once in awhile. Unfortunately I live on the opposite coast so I will be on the search for a ramen shop near me.
I love this place. The ramen is amazing, their chicken karage is my absolute favorite thing to order followed by their gyoza. If you dont want soup their poke bowls are super yummy. The manager there is super friendly she is a major reason as to why we eat there.
OMG, DA BOMB!!!! So good I literally have dreams about eating there. Super friendly service, the manager (Korean lady) goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and is always cleaning and keeping that place spotless. Get the black pepper garlic bowl, it's insanely good. I order it with chicken instead of pork, the pork is really good too. I usually get an extra order of chicken on the side, it's a smoking deal for a couple bucks extra. Anytime we are close to this place, we go. PLEASE COME OPEN A RAMEN 101 IN MARIN! I kind you not it would be a gold mine.
I ordered ramen and also a rice bowl here and both times I was pretty happy with my order. The food was good the portion sizes are good and the and everything came out steaming hot. I'll definitely come here again in the future.
Felt like I was catching a cold, so I ordered the black garlic ramen. It was hot, delicious and soothing. Made me feel better. Also tried the tempura shrimp which was deliciously crisp. The restaurant is kind of small but very efficiently run and food comes out quickly. The staff is always very friendly and pleasant.
The food is great and is a perfect place to try Ramen for the first time. The restaurant is small yet clean and the staff are friendly. My only complaint is that I couldn't finish a bowl. SO if you know you can't finish a bowl do yourself a favor and share with someone. Disclaimer: that complaint was a joke. That place is awesome but just share if you know you can't finish
For the tonkotsu there are good things like how quickly it is served the portion of the pork slice, portion size. But I wish it was more creamy, and the egg was not hard boiled and cold. Spice level was solid. I would like to come back to try a more creamy ramen. The squid was also good but it was a lot to eat. Spend 27 dollars for the squid and the ramen, it might be overly on the price but that's okay. There was parking and it wasn't busy. You pay up front too before eating. *toilet seat needs to be fix
This was my first time coming in. I arrived around 1225PM, i was sat by 1227. Literally about 5 minutes later I received my food! So within 10 minutes of walking in I was greeted, sat, and served. This place is my new go to. Excellent customer service, amazing ramen, and very nice atmosphere. I highly recommend especially if you are craving ramen or looking for a nice place for a date.
We ordered tonkatsu and miso ramen. Soup base is quite plain compared to many other ramen places we had been to. But for a quite crave of ramen, this would do. I do like their fried squid tentacles, big portions with reasonable price.
I usually take out and this place is so reliable and consistently tasty and hot. Also I'm a sucker for their spam musubi. My favorites are the tonkatsu ramen, but the chicken ramen is also very good
Me and my girlfriend love to actually taste different food. Working in the food service, everything looks the same. We love this place, because it provided our paladar with new ground. I ordered the rib ramen. Love that the ramen is euphoria and the ribs are delicious.
First time to eat here, and we were very please with this place. Service was excellent and fast. Ramen is the best I had in at area . Broth is home made and pork slices taste so fresh. You just have to try it to find out how good the food is.
Came here for dinner, the staff was friendly and had some good ramen and gyoza
We visited Ramen101 today during the lunch time. Their staffs are very friendly and I guess most of them are very young( around 18 ~20 year-old),so please be nice to them. We ordered the non-spicy Shoyu Ramen, non-spicy Seafood Ramen, and a new appetizer Garlic squids. All of them are look good and taste good! Definitely will visit next time.
Great ramen. I had the chicken ramen in the veggie broth. My friends had the seafood ramen and tonkotsu ramen. We all liked it. The spice was also perfect.
Chipper cashier, seriously excellent cooking, a bit high priced but quality, best unexpected dish is the oysters. Only minus I could find was lack of visible trash and by the door.
I order to go a couple items from the menu, the Black Garlic Ramen, Kara-age and gyoza. I opted to make the ramen spicy it wasn’t spicy at lot had a lot of flavor but it tasted something kinda burnt so I’m not sure if that it’s always like that or not but over all I did like the ramen. The chicken Kara-age was so good specially when it was dipped in the spicy mayo. The gyoza were really good crunchy but soft and lots of flavor.
Small venue. Great for one on one dinner's. I had the Chicken Ramen. The atmosphere was nice, the staff was helpful and friendly. The food was really good and you can add spicy flavorings at the table as well.
Nice good food. OK prices. Though hard to find a garbage can anywhere.
Their tantanmen ramen is really good. The service is really fast. Tasty broth. Spicy levels are tolerable than usual.
The food was amazing. The staff are great people. I don’t come out here much but i do like to try new places and this one for sure didn’t let me down. I highly recommend this place.
Love the ramen give it a four out of five stars clean location great food friendly staff but unfortunately still Pho is much better then ramen😅💯
been here 3 times. love all the ramen and poke bowl. order at the counter. they can literally put a bowl of steamy ramen on your table before you even sit down.

This place definitely has potential but they need to step up their broth flavor. I had this with my family and it was pretty bland. I won't rule them out though because their staff is great and their menu is solid. I will go back to this and see if they improve on their flavor.
Solid run of the mill ramen spot. There's nothing incredibly unique here. That being said simplicity has it's own allure. They may not have a massive selection, but what they have they do well. If you're looking for a good spot to try out ramen you will actually enjoy, this is a good place to start. Their tare is balanced and the broth is rich. The noodles are not made in house but they're still pretty solid.
We initially were gonna get pho but most places were closed (since it was the day after new years). My family decided to get ramen instead and we stumbled upon this place. It’s actually a really good place with decent quality food. Waiters are SUPER attentive and are always going around and making sure that you have water.
I'm a Ramen fanatic, this place has good big bowls of Ramen with allot of fixings, but it seems to change from day to day, different chefs prepare the menu differently or something. It always good just different broth and different preparation. Black Garlic is their best seller and it's tasty. Any time I get off a plane in Oakland Ramen 101 is my first stop, before home, before everything I get a nice hot bowl of their Ramen.
Their Chicken Karaage is soooo good 😋 paired it up with their tasty sauce. Must try! I ordered the Black Garlic Ramen. For me it is good. They were generous with their toppings. I asked for medium spicy but it didn’t taste spicy at all. I also tried to taste Tonkotsu Ramen and Pork Ribs Ramen which my friends ordered. They were alright. They’re not as flavorful compared to the other ramen houses. (Well, it’s just my opinion tho.) The wait time is decent. We didn’t wait too long for our orders to be served. Well, i guess we came when it’s not rush hour because there’s only us there. 😅 But when we were about to finish with our meal, the place was almost full. The servers are also nice.
We had black garlic ramen and to katsu ramen with takoyaki and spam masubi. It was 4pm and our food came out incredibly fast. That being said, the garlic is normal garlic, not fermented black garlic. The rice with the masubi was dry. The ramen tasted great. The pork was sliced thick and was satisfying. The octopus balls were soft on the inside and there's a piece of octopus in the very middle. I'd go again but skip the spam. We sat outside. Parking is convenient and staff is friendly and efficient.
I would consider this more fast food quality. Good flavor ramen and super cheap, but lacks a little depth. Just a warning, the setup of this restaurant is super weird. It looks like it would be self serve but it’s not. You have to put your name down on the list to wait for a table; when your table is ready you go to the counter to order and pay and they bring your food to your table. Interesting concept. Gotta get your own chopsticks and napkins. Ordered the black garlic ramen medium spicy and added an egg. The broth was good but the noodles were too soft for my taste. I would pass on be chicken karaage and the agedashi tofu.
Decently priced and the ramen was pretty solid. Friends and I also really enjoyed the takoyaki and karaage.

Service is good. It is fast. But the noodle is not firm enough. The soup taste like chicken soup not pork.
WHY THIS PLACE SHOULD BE A THREE: (I tried two bowls to compare) - This may be the best in the area, but I’ve tasted better quality and flavor elsewhere. I can taste the carelessness in their soup base. - Tastes bland and plain. Nearly tastes like water in comparison to authentic ramen. - Too expensive. $25 a bowl. - Smells plain. - No music in-store. - Employees are nice and sweet. Try bowls other than the Seafood and Chicken.
I guess I should have known from the name of the place to stick with the Ramen. I tried ordering the pork belly rice bowl and got a bowl with a light sprinkling of peas/carrots/corn mix, a little bit of pork on top of mostly plain white rice (they also forgot my sauce.) Definitely not worth the price. That said, I've had the Ramen before and enjoyed it. Guess I'll stick with that from now on.
Ramen was pretty tasty. Soup base was a bit salty than I'm use to. Grilled squid was too saltly with the sauce. I wasn't able to taste the squid with how much sauce there was.

Pretty mid, good broth and noodles, but very little toppings (even the corn) and charge for everything, tiny pieces of pork too the chicken kiraage was also pretty bad, tons of small burnt fried pieces in old oil, more fried pieces than actual chicken Not really that cheap either for what you’re getting… I used to come here a lot more and now remember why I stopped
Amazing service! Only the thing is Ramen was not successful. Chicken, egg and the broth was not tasty at all.. I've been other branches of Ramen 101 and I love their food. It's 1 out of 5 because food quality means everything for me.
Was looking for some food and saw this place had good reviews. Unfortunately, it was a miss for me. I got the tonkotsu ramen and it wasn't very good. The broth was okay but had a weird after taste which I think was from the old bean sprouts on top. The pork slices were thin, small and rubbery. Food was really quick as it was completely empty inside. I think the speed might have been for the worst. Nothing to note about the service, cashier took my order and asked about spiciness level and that was it.

This was always a place that I loved going to when I head over to the East Bay. Their quality of food was always consistent and service was prompt. However, my last takeout order was terrible. I ordered two orders of the black garlic ramen, one mild and the other spicy. Both orders lacked seasoning, noodles were undercooked, and there was no difference in spice level. Sadly it was watered down broth with a thick layer of oil. It ended up going down the drain. It might be a while before I go back to try this place again.

My friend and I ordered the chicken ramen in September. It was delish last time so we returned today. We ordered 2 chicken ramen bowls. When we got home and started eating, we both noticed that the chicken tasted "weird". It didn't taste right to either of us. I ate 2 pieces and decided to throw it away. A couple hours later we had an upset stomach which led to diarrhea. I will not be returning to Ramen 101
If I could give less than 1 star, that would be my actual star rating. This place was EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTING. One minute after placing my order, my ramen was brought to my table. The texture of the noodles was off, and the broth was no better than water. My grilled squid was cold and chewy. The meal was so bad that I couldn't even finish it. I will never step foot in that place again.
Not tasty anymore and the food getting smaller portion. The cashier was so stingy I ordered two ramen and she just gave me 1 side chilly oil. She said one order one chilly oil. And I ordered two why she gave one? Rude! Look urself to the mirror u are two white in ur male up 😂
The price on the ramen keeps going up and now it’s $16 for a bowl, plus I bought the chicken karaage for $10 and it taste like old oil and I can’t even take another bite. This is a complete waste of money. I tried to continue to support this restaurant over and over again but it keeps getting worse. They seem to not care about their customers hard earned money.
