10 out of 10. There was a long line (30 min wait) and worth it if you want quality. I got the banana cream top matcha. Well balanced, no sweet overkill. My husband got the brown cookie butter espresso, normally has his coffee black but mentioned it was super good. He was hesitant to mix it with the spoon since he liked tasting the different layers. After he mixed it he said it was a good combination.
We visited Kin on a Saturday around 1:30 PM. There was a line when we arrived and it took us about 15 min to order and receive our food and drinks. When we arrived, there was very few items left. Probably about 5 - 6 mochi donuts (2 flavors) and a similar number of ube mochi muffin. They also ran out of some of their limited time drinks. We got an ube mochi muffin, black sesame cream top einspänner, and Hojicha black sesame cream top. The mochi muffin was really good - it actually tasted like ube and had a good texture from the mochi. Both drinks were beautiful and had really good black sesame flavor. Between the two, I really liked the hojicha black sesame cream top. I understand why this place has a line. I would definitely come back for the hojicha black sesame cream top and to try more of their baked goods.
We got black sesame matcha and black sesame coffee, cookie butter cheesecake brioche and berry chantilly mochi donut. Everything was absolutely delicious! Sth to consider: there’s a permanent enormous line to order. It took us over an hour total to get our drinks and desserts. But I would still love to come back and try other things from their menu.
Mochi donuts were super good and flavorful! Texture is super soft like very soft if you’re into soft droopy pastries. So yummy and the seasonal matcha drink I ordered so amazing!! Especially the soft top was delicious! I can tell they put lots of love and patience into their food, I will definitely be coming back whenever I’m in town again! I ordered one donut of each flavor including my coffee and everything came out to be below $25, so far nothing here lacks flavor as advertised!
This review is long overdue. I remember moving back to the central coast after being away for ten years and seeing stuff about pop ups for Kin. Then one day they posted that they’d finally be opening their brick and mortar. As someone who grew up on the central coast through the 90s and early 2000s there was such little semblance of Asian American businesses, especially outside of Chinese takeout spots. This area has grown immensely and Kin is one of those amazing standouts. I see a lot of the negative reviews revert mostly to people being upset at long lines, lack of urgency with the front people, or prices. But I think you need to consider that Kin having a line isn’t exactly their problem. And with one single person taking orders there’s also a literal entire team in the kitchen making everyone’s orders. The prices match the quality (and I can only assume the overhead and rent in this area is wild). The owner and team are clearly incredibly passionate about what they do. They are sooo aware that they have intensive lines that they keep their IG story posts updated fairly frequently to share what the line duration currently looks like AND quantity of items left. They do specialty items or sometimes collaborate with guest bakers which is why the lines get long—But don’t let that deter you. If you just want to pop in for a nice drink you can most likely get a short line by noon (or just avoid the days they do limited specials). Anyways, I got to try their weekend special. The carrot cake espresso cream top and their passion fruit brioche donuts. Life changing!
first off-kin is delicious, my go to order is a savory/tart donut and a vietnamese iced coffee, it is small and there is always a line but I have never minded that! :) but second-the owner clearly cares about the people and his products and it shows, the last time I went, the owner came out of the kitchen with a basket and offered people waiting in line umbrellas to protect them from the sun-I wish I could give them more stars just for this act of kindness.
Visited the shop during my trip to SB. Tried the matcha eispanner and black sesame hojicha, which were both so yummy. I left my bag behind and thankfully the staff kept it safe for me. I was super grateful that the owner got back to me and stayed after closing so that I can pick up my bag before my drive back to LA. Amazing staff!!! Definitely recommend and will visit again when back in SB.
There is such a long line for this place, but I do think it's worth it. The menu seems to change on a daily basis, so check out their Instagram for the day's pastry flavors and specialty drinks. Some memorable items were the sesame espresso drink (so nutty and a nice balance from the sweetness of the pastries) and the strawberry pistachio mochi donut. Also, I appreciate how nice the staff were!
the line was long and only got longer as we waited, but it was well worth the wait. the mochi donuts are made fresh in house with a rotating menu that changes daily. we tried the raspberry cheesecake and the dalgona (coffee candy). the flavors were very strong and the texture was great; chewy, light, and airy. for drinks we tried the matcha einspanner and coffee einspanner, both were great. flavors are very strong and the drinks come unsweetened. the matcha was smooth, vibrant green, and very concentrated. the coffee was well balanced with the milk and the cream in both was thick and not too sweet. the servers are very friendly and bring your drink out to you. not tons of seating as it does get very busy, but the patio area outside is nice. very cute interior, would definitely go back!!
Holy moly!!!!!!!! I’m so glad I stopped at Kin’s when I was in SB. What an amazing establishment!!!! I read all the reviews and everyone was raving about the strawberry milk so I ordered it… WOW!!! So creamy, so fresh and sweet!!! I wish I could order one every day! Also, the mochi donuts are so amazing! They’re fluffy, tasty, so yummy!!!! The line it’s soooo long so I would suggest get there early, as soon as you can! 10/10!!!!
Upon arriving, you knew this place was going to deliver because of its long line at 10am. Regardless of the wait, their service was incredibly nice and friendly. The atmosphere was simple, modern, and comfortable. If you’re ordering mochi donuts for the first time, highly recommend getting their full selection to try out the different flavors. Their mochi donuts are SOFT and CHEWY and very shareable. In addition to their donuts, the menu selection also has specialty espresso drinks too if you want to pair up. Will definitely make this place a regular for me!
Amazing drinks! The cream top drinks are very indulgent but such a treat. Donuts were perfect. Staff was very sweet. Line was a bit long even at 1 pm on a Tuesday, but worth the wait.
Absolutely worth the hype and the long wait. My partner and I got the matcha and hojicha einspanner, which had the perfect amount of creaminess and tea. The blueberry cornflake and Okinawa maple mochi donuts were amazing.
Wonderful place with delicious donuts. Their donuts are the best in this area. The dough just melts in your mouth, they are not very sweet and give you a taste of the fillings. Very nice polite staff. There are huge queues here. The place is really popular, so come early. The prices for donuts are very high, but the taste justifies the price
A great place to have a quality cup of tea. They have a variety of matcha, hojicha and Thai tea using wonderful ingredients. They have asian inspired flavored donuts throughout the week. The donuts were super soft and chewy. I heard from Wednesday to Sunday they have mochi donuts, Friday and Saturday they also have the cream filled ones. I am so excited to go back. The staff there is super kind and helpful. It has definitely won my heart as my new favorite cafe in Santa Barbara!
Kin Bakeshop has excellent, smooth, and creamy matcha. Not sure what they are doing, but it works! The spot is more of an order and go type of place. Overall, would come back.

So grateful that we have such a top-quality bakeshop in SB! Been there multiple times already, and I can't wait for the grand opening. You're missing out a lot if you haven't tried their brioche yet. There's always a long line (takes about 1.5 hours to get in), so get there early before donuts get sold out. As for the drinks, hochicha and black sesame cream top are my favorite. Again, don't wanna trigger your fomo, but if you haven't heard about this place yet, you're missing out big time fr
This shop really provides the community and care that a small business does for the area. The team is honest about their day-to-day circumstances and appreciation for the customers. Repeat customers get the satisfaction of watching a business grow and thrive. The doughnuts are delicious and drinks phenomenal. The wait can be long but that is testament to the consistent quality and care. (This is going ro be one of spots I miss the most from Santa Barbara)
We made a weekend trip from Miami to Santa Barbara mostly just to visit Kin lol. I had seen them on socials and reddit and I'm a sucker for great food and an even better experience. Kin is such a special place. Yes, the line is long but it is oh so worth it. We literally visited every day, twice a day over the long weekend and tried almost every drink and baked treat on the menu LOL. Can't go wrong with anything. Everyday I had a new favorite, it's THAT GOOD. The coconut cloud matcha, and pandan matcha are the best I've ever had. The cookie butter cream top is also stellar. The donuts speak for themselves, but trust me, the flavors taste just as good as they sound reading them on a menu. So thankful we got to try Kin and thank you a million times over to the staff and the amazing owner. I don't know how they do it but they manage to still be warm and friendly even with how insanely busy they are non-stop. For anyone complaining about the lines or prices, this is prob not your vibe. Those of us who get it, 'get it.' I really hope to be able to come back and visit in the future. I wish sooooo much success for this team and hope Kin sticks around and expands (hopefully to Miami lol)
Hands down one of the best coffee locations in the area!! The experience and taste is like nothing else. The workers are very helpful and friendly. Today I stopped in to inquire about their Vietnamese latte and staff at the counter was very proactive and friendly with answering my questions about their version and even gave me a sample cup to try! I will definitely recommend this place to people.
I tried Hojicha and didn’t like it at all. But the nice cashier was so kind and sweet and she offered to change my drink. It was such a thoughtful gesture! I sticked with my drink though but knowing that someone from the shop cared about my feelings made my day! I’ll try the strawberry milk for the next time!

Kin hits every time! The lines are typically long ESPECIALLY on weekends. Week days are not terrible. I have not had anything from the menu that I dislike. Drinks have a longer wait time if you decide to order one. There is not a lot of seating while you wait. They offer you tiny tea while you wait. The decor is cute and minimal and the sweet treats are delicious and unique. They honestly deserve a bigger location or multiple and I do believe they are working on that. It is worth the stop and wait. 💞
Expect to wait in line regardless of what time you arrived, no matter weekend or weekday, morning or afternoon. Mochi is good, but although I enjoy the Matcha Strawberry Latte to some extent, I didn’t end up finish it. Service is fine, they even offer you a small cup of tea while you wait.
Service was good, and there was always a line outside — definitely a popular spot! The drinks were interesting and unique, different from what you’d get elsewhere. The mochi donuts were okay — nothing particularly amazing or disappointing. The standout for us was the Earl Grey donut, which was delicious. We were really hoping to try the brioche donuts (the main reason we came), but unfortunately, by 2 PM they were already sold out. Overall, worth a visit for the atmosphere and creative menu, but go early if you have your heart set on specific items!
