With the qualifications being fast food and chain restaraunt, I don't know of any better for decent Mexican food. Of course the landscape down here is littered with far better places, but for a fast food option it's hard to beat these guys. Inexpensive, fast, and decent food.

We stopped to grab a late lunch....it was in middle of winter in south Texas and we had a pretty good front that came in...it was in the 20s outside still in early afternoon...the lobby area was freezing, cold air blowing from up top. I went to ask the cashier why the ac was on when was so cold in outside. She said "It wasn't. It's broke and stuck on cold. We already reported it while back and they are in no hurry to come fix it. That's why we are all bundled up back here in kitchen." She had on gloves beanie scarf etc trying to keep warm. This is sad that they won't come get this fixed so their employees dont have to work this way and the customers can't eat in restaurant comfortably. Ok done ranting.

They were not slammed, but they were busy. Still doesn't excuse that I paid for 6 breakfast tacos, then drove 30 miles away only to find a taco missing. Not going all the way back for it, but did it have to be the one I wanted the most?? Guess I'll have e to check the bag next time.

Food was flavorful. The cashier got us confused over the difference between a plate and a combo and heard me explain what she said to my elderly father, (which was a plate came with beans and rice and a combo came with beans, rice, queso, and a drink. Dad wanted beans, rice, and a drink, which is what he had received the last time he was there and ordered the same thing,), so we ordered the combo. Later we asked about the beans and rice we were told that's not how it comes. So why did the cashier hear me repeat what she said to my father and not give the correct information and why did he get the order with rice, beans, and a drink last time? Disappointed with the service and customer service.

Super clean. Great staff. Friendly and professional. Glad they have 20% military discount. Food ok. Mexican rice way undercooked it was crunchy. Will try again but please fix rice. It was inedible.

Buying Stuff

The food quality hasn't been the best, but we still give them a chance from time to time. However, after yesterday's drive-thru experience I probably will not be going back. The young lady was moody, inattentive and provided rude & poor customer service. We didn't get napkins, forks or not even a hot sauce. This area is growing and we have a lot more options for dining. No need to be dealing with bad service!

I guess I am getting old! I ate at the original Taco Cabana. I have watched them grown and evolve over the years. For a long time, Taco Cabana was the place to go after ... everything ... any event ... church, softball, movie, whatever! Food was great and prices were reasonable. Unfortunately, it breaks my heart to say, but the good old day are gone. I have watched sadly over the last 30+ years as management has "improved" the menu to its current state of overwhelming disappointment. Quality is terrible and prices are such that you would expect 5-star food quality Just not the case. I began going to Taco Cabana less and less over the last couple of decades because of the terrible service (take out service is notoriously inaccurate and missing items). Yet still hoping and reserving memories of their past recipes and food quality, ever so often I go back, as I did just last week for lunch. Unfortunately, it remains disappointing. I live in the Schertz area near the HEB on FM 3009 but regularly am in the New Braunfels and Live Oak area where I have tried out other branches. Unfortunately, the problem is not the store. It is system wide! It is and has been problematic in every Taco Cabana I visit, regardless of location, especially in takeout accuracy. About the only thing I find worth eating there is the bacon and egg breakfast tacos. They are not the greatest, or the biggest, or the cheapest, but they are at least average or better. I have had much worse. Sorry guys! I just can't recommend Taco Cabana anymore. I will probably drop in every now and then, hoping they have changed. But given the track record over the last 30+ years, I am not optimistic.

Clearly, it wasn't the best day to come to get breakfast tacos today. I ordered two bacon and eggs tacos with an extra strip of bacon on each. Disappointedly, I got two bacon and egg tacos, both with bacon crumbled and clearly not two strips of bacon. Very frustrating to get to your destination just to see that your order was not made as you requested and paid for.

I needed to pick up three boxes of tacos because Morningside Elementary was short of food donations for the children's Christmas party. I went to New Braunfels first. No one acknowledged me at the counter for about eight minutes, so I just left. Next I drove all of the way to Schertz to find a line inside of about twenty people. No one acknowledged any of us standing at the counter. After about 10 minutes of waiting I just placed an online order. Giving up my military discount of course. After $68.17 and about another 20 minutes I finally got my order. When I got to the school I discovered that two of the tacos had ripped open foil, so they had to be thrown away. We can't serve open containers to the kids. The salsa was also wrong. It was supposed to be the ranch salsa. Total it took me 1 1/2 hours to get back to school. The party was over 1 hour later The party was two hours long. I missed half of it. This was the worst experience that we have ever had at a food establishment. We will no longer be purchasing anything from Taco Cabana again. Thank you very much for your time. Merry Christmas and happy new year

Came through the drive thru 11:50am to order some tacos. We decided to order the TC WAY taco box for $20.99 as stated on the menu. The employee: #18207 told us they didn’t have potato and egg tacos. But she can swap them out for 4 of each of what they have. Ok cool! No problem! We pay and look at the receipt and see how to $24.99 for the taco box! She said it’s the TC YOUR WAY box. In no form or fashion of our conversation did she say it would be an up charge for not having product. She didn’t offer to fix anything. They should have accommodated the same price we ORIGINALLY ORDERED. Instead of charging us more for not being prepared. It’s the principal for me. No communication and inflation prices are high enough already. Communication is key!! Do better!

I went to taco cabana in Schertz for dinner tonight. I ordered a 8oz queso like I do every time I go there. I didn’t get chips so I asked the girl if I could get some chips and she snapped at me and told me I ordered queso not chips and no I could not have any I’m still not sure what her problem was. When she handed me my food she didn’t say anything just shut the window really fast without a word. So I thought maybe I just didn’t get everything yet. What are you supposed to eat queso with. Your fingers. I’m so confused at this point. I spent $45 on food and could not get a single chip. Do better and hire better.

Ordered Carne Asada street tacos, the corn tortillas were cold, cilantro was rotten. Tasted horrible. Threw it in the trash after 1 bite. Do better, won’t eat Taco Cabana again. I would ZERO stars if I could.

Sad day for our local Taco Cabana. I can honestly say our family is so grossed out we won’t be back. The entire place is sticky and absolutely filthy. On top of that, as if it’s not enough, there is a weird gross smell too.

They don't fill your tacos. I ordered 2 chicken fajita tacos and they only put 3 chunks of chicken on them. In fact everything I order never has enough meat. The prices are way too high for the amount of food you actually get. Stay away if you're hungry. The sodas lack flavor. They skimp on everything at this location.
