Blanco Cocina + Cantina – The Borgata

Came here for lunch after golf. We had to wait about 15min for a table even though the table was clearly empty. We ordered drinks at the bar until seated. They had a nice selection of tequila drinks so we were OK. Once seated service was good. Chips and salsa served immediately, ordered our food and was served 15min later. A solid Mexican joint.

The restaurant was busy, but it didn't take very long for us to be seated. The waiter was very polite and attentive. This was my first visit to this restaurant so I didn't know what to expect. We had Tacos( Carne Asada/Chicken),which were actually pretty good. The margaritas are good as well. I will return for sure

Birthday dinner here. The food was fantastic. The corn tortillas on the tacos were fresh off the skillet and the best I've ever had! The flavors in each dish were fresh and fantastic. Prices are reasonable. We had the Chicken Pastor Tacos and mix and match enchiladas (Chicken Tinga and Pork). The skinny Margherita was very good, and they have an extensive tequila selection. We'll be back for the food. It is located on Scottsdale Road, so it's not a romantic or scenic setting.

Really nice food. Awesome service. We love Mexican food. Their vegetarian enchiladas were awesome. Taco pizza is delicious and the environment and ambiance is spectacular. Next time in town, I will come here again. Joey, our server was amazing. Super friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu and food options and always checked up on us with drinks, refills and making sure we are comfortable Thank you guys for a wonderful experience. I highly recommend anyone to try this place out.

Reliable Texmex restaurant with friendly staff. I normally get the short rib cheese crisp, which can best be described as a Mexican pizza. This visit I opted for the combo platter that consisted of a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and bean tostada. It's all very tasty, especially the crispy beef taco that was stuffed with seasoned ground beef.

Jason and his staff exceeded all expectations! The food was absolutely incredible—every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell they put so much passion and attention into each plate. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff was attentive without being overbearing. From start to finish, it was a top-notch dining experience that I’ll be recommending to everyone I know. Huge thanks to Jason and the entire team for an unforgettable meal!

UPDATE. We had the opportunity to come back and enjoy a great lunch. Everything was spot on. Fresh and delicious. I’m upgrading my review to 5 stars based on the most recent visit. None of the original issues were a problem when we came back. I would highly recommend Blanco Cocina for great Mexican food and delicious drinks. My original review is below. I really wanted to come here after reading a great review and learning of their James Beard awards. We came on a Saturday afternoon and the atmosphere is nice very family friendly but it’s really just a nice big room with some fun murals on the walls. I had a spicy skinny margarita, which was very good, and I was surprised that it was skinny because it tasted just like a regular margarita and it benefited from the spicy salt, rim and slices of jalapeño pepper in the drink itself. I ordered a chicken chimichanga enchilada style with green and red sauce combination along with the special that comes with a crispy beef taco. The food took longer than expected, which is the reason for the two stars. That and the fact that when I have a chimichanga, I expect it to be crispy because it’s deep-fried. They left the sauce on for so long under the heat lamps that sadly all the sauce was absorbed into the tortilla, and it was just soggy. So no point in having it chimichanga style if it’s just going to be soggy like a burrito. Also, the cheese was so melted by the heat lamp on top that it was separating. Aside from that the chimichanga did have a good flavor. I think if we go at a time that’s not so busy maybe they’ll have time to pay attention to the food a little better and it could be a better experience. The taco was crispy but the ground beef could’ve had more flavor. The thing about tacos at a Mexican restaurant usually is you have to eat them so fast because they’re soggy and the shell is soaking wet. That is not the case here, it was perfect other than I would’ve liked a little bit more spice to the taco meat but overall it was good and the shell was crispy the way it should be. Our server was good and anticipated our need for more chips so there’s an extra point for that. I want to try this restaurant again because I think my chimichanga could’ve been better and will hold out hope for another visit at which time I will update this review

It's estimated there are over 300 Mexican food restaurants in the PHX Valley! I would say probably more? That number alone makes it a super competitive market with many options. However, Blanco Cocina + Cantina is a stand out in the category. Being a Fox restaurant, they live and breath consistency & quality, and we were not disappointed! Their amazing chips, salsa & queso is a must have. I definitely loved the grilled Mahi tacos. The atmosphere is spot on and what you'd expect. It's a large space with a huge wrap around bar in the center. The staff is efficient, super friendly and knowledgeable. All of our food was fresh and prepared near perfectly. Nice work Sam and team! 👏

Consistently GREAT. Great Food, Great Vibe and GREATER service. The Mahi Tacos with delectable & scrumptious rice and beans were much better than typical fare. Wow! And it was plenty for two with no split fee. "David the 3rd" was our amazing server this time and again, exceeded our expectations with his attention, attitude and overall kindness. "David3" will excel in whatever venture he chooses and was and absolute delight. Seating options, both indoor and out are excellent.

We stopped in to Blanco Cocina and Cantina for lunch and had a great meal. Our server was great and made excellent recommendations. For drinks, we had the skinny and cadillac margaritas. They were strong but delicious. Ended up getting a refill before leaving. The complimentary tortilla chips were phenomenal. Some of the best I’ve ever had. They were the perfect level of thickness, crunchiness, and saltiness and served fresh out of the oven. We ordered the grilled mexican street corn as an appetizer and the braised short rib “machaca” taco and carne asada fajitas. Everything was good but the tacos were a standout.

OMG 😲 this place has outstanding food. The carne asada burrito 🌯 was excellent that grilled steak had me at hello 👋. My daughter is a picky eater and judges hard one bite of the carne asada burrito she was in heaven. Also, the chicken 🐔 tortilla soup ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ amazing 👏 the cilantro took it to a entire new place. Boy! Do they know how to season their soup My wife fell in love ❤️ with the chicken enchiladas 😋. Just make sure the rice and beans are served hot. They were a bit luke warm only but good enough. But we prefer steaming hot food. Overall l, we'll worth your time and money.

This spot is always top notch! Absolutely must try at least once so if you're reading this, and you've never been, stop on bye! You won't regret it... To start, I highly recommend the Warm Queso. Such a great dip for the chips. For my main meal, my go-to is the Short Rib Enchilada. The Short Rib Tacos are a favorite as well, however, I didn't get those this time. Both are great dishes that are very filling. On the spicy scale, these are low, so if you don't want anything too spicy, these will work. I didn't get a margarita this time but my usual is the Dodge's Cadillac. Very tasty. I completely forgot to get pictures this time. Darn! I'll grab some next time and post as an update. Anyway, I hope you stop on bye and enjoy this spot as much as I do. PS - If you see this in time, they have a menu for AZ Restaurant Week that looked amazing!

Beautiful atmosphere, great food, and our server, Justin, was the friendliest and most attentive server we’ve ever had! A perfect sweetie!

Had the nachos with tinga chicken and they were excellent! Lots of toppings, very tasty chicken. Very generous portion. My husband had the combo dinner and was also very happy with his choice. Cheese enchilada was delicious. Will definitely be back here.

Had dinner before going to a concert. We had a reservation, so there was no wait time. The food and service was great! Our waitress was attentive and provided excellent recommendations. It did not take long for the food to come out, which was good because time was important that day.

Great food and service! The cheese enchilada on the enchilada trio was one of my favorites. Everything was fresh and tasty and came out super fast. Drinks looked amazing, but we didn’t try them. Our waiter was Riko, and he was one of the best waiters we’ve ever had. He was so efficient and helpful. We will definitely be back for more!

Just had a nice meal @ Blanco, food and drinks were all nicely prepared, atmosphere was relaxing for a family dinner with kids. We were very pleasantly surprised with Zeeshan the restaurant manager. Even though he was not serving our table, it’s apparent that he was paying attention to see if there was any potential service shortfalls. He stopped by and apologized for the slow food prep (busy Saturday night!), even though we were not at all unhappy with anything. Kudos to Zershan for being a really good supervisor, paying close attention to the dining experience! Excellent service all around from the crew as well!

Our wait took longer than quoted, but not by much, the host was very kind about it. The kale salad was amazing although the dehydrated sweet potato was just a little off. The shrimp fajitas were really flavorful although the shrimp itself was just little bit rubbery and I feel like they should have manicured the tails off. Still great combo of flavors. Jason the server was my favorite part of the experience. For us the timing for the arrival of the food and the order taking was perfect. He was diligent, suave and informative. Thanks Jason!

Stopped by for Happy Hour and was pleasantly surprised by the great value, tasty food and super friendly service. Our waiter was top notch and he kept checking in on us throughout the afternoon. Will definitely return the next time in Scottsdale.

The decor and food is good!! The best days to go to this location is friday or Saturday for dinner. The music is so good! Dj knows exactly what to play 🫰

The carne asada quesdillas were absolutely amazing!!! Cameron was absolutely the best. He was patient with all of our questions (we were first timers) and he joined in with lots of our inside jokes. The atmosphere was good.

Our waitress was attentive, the food was prepared quickly, and everything we ordered had great flavor. Went on a Saturday evening with no wait time. Complimentary valet is out front, but there were also plenty of parking spaces.

Went here with my wife for dinner and a date night on our last evening in Scottsdale, and we were immediately blown away by the food. I had the jalapeño pineapple margarita—absolute perfection. My wife ordered a chimichanga, and that was spot-on too. Overall, the food was excellent and definitely worth coming back for whenever we’re in town again. The only downside was the restroom situation—men’s was outside in a trailer, and the women’s was oddly set up inside the men’s area. A little awkward, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience.

AMAZING drinks and food! This was are first stop after a long day of flights and airport fun! The service is not great. Needs to reflect the caliber of the food…. We had to ask 3 people for another round of drinks. The waitstaff need to be more attentive and responsive.

We closed out our visit to Arizona with dinner at Blanco Cocina. First, let me say that the staff is FANTASTIC at every level. That, in itself, is remarkable given how difficult it is to find good help for restaraunts these days. And the atmosphere was spectacular. Loved the fire place (though they sat two people in front of it and subsequently turned it off while there were there thus killing the wonderful fire vibe). My issue was the food. Now, in the spirit of transparency, I married a woman from New Mexico who cooks authentic Mexican food so the qualms I have with the food is due to being majorly spoiled. Two primary issues..first, the red chili sauce was tomato based. I didn't expect that and I didn't care for it. The second was the rice. I was expecting Mexican rice. What I got was a rice pilaf I could get at any American restaraunt. Needless to say, my wife HATED it. I am being more forgiving. LOL! That said, the fish taco was delicious! And my daughter, who lives in Phoenix (we were visiting her for the holidays) loved her chimichanga. If are you not a stickler for your Mexican food, then this place is great. It was just disappointing for us.

We came here after our flight and was greeted by some of the nicest hostess in recent memories. They were courteous and helpful. Our service staff was also very nice and gave a small portion to try when asked about it. The menu offered a good variety of dishes and they were good and tasty. Even the chip and salsa had good flavor and proper spiciness for SW food. Overall we had a good experience.

The short rib dishes are great! The cocktails are pretty…and sitting on the patio is a fun way to watch the crowd and valets park amazing cars!

Welcoming, excellent service. They go out of their way to please. Food was mixed. Mexican corn was just ok. Fish taco was very generous but lacking flavor. Short rib crisp was excellent. Cocktails and mocktails were good. Lively vibe.

Blanco has really good traditional carnitas tacos. Great drinks. Their ceviche is good too. However I found enchiladas to be just ok. Rice and beans are mediocre. Salsa tastes like Tostitos chunky salsa, which is not authentic. One time I found the food to be way too salty I got up twice at night to drink water. The atmosphere is really fun and nice so it is a great place to meet up with people so long as they are not Mexican food snobs.

Great spot. I always get the chicken tinga bowl and it’s always delicious. The frozen Palomas are also great (the blackberry one is my favorite). It does tend to get a bit busy so I would recommend making a reservation if you are going during peak hours. Also sadly they changed the happy hour times and it now ends at 5 instead of 6

Lay off salt, lay off grease, lay of butter get rid if mcd's fries 🍟 I did not eat the tacos they were salt overload! tortilla soup was weird not sure if i liked it not Thomas was a great server, he can't do it all guys,he can't wash all the dishes that were unclean, he can't cook the food & if he did it would probably blow away everything you served me...

Really cute restaurant trendy fun. Really good margaritas and the cheese crisp was pretty cool and good. Just need a little more toppings. short rib tacos weren’t very flavorful, and the rice and beans were blah! Recommend for a fun spot to get drinks and small appetizer with a group of people. There’s better restaurants to eat at dinner at.

I didn't like the chicken fajitas. Chips and salsa were good. Would I go back NO we order 2 chicken fajitas 2 ice tea with tip 70.00 over price!

The spicy mango ceviche and guacamole were great but the tacos and burritos were terrible. Good spot for some apps and a brew but skip the meals.

My first less than positive review. The Tucson Chimichanga was honestly terrible! Three tiny pieces of short rib and more greasy than I expected. I ordered with green sauce - I needed the server to show me anything that was green on the Chimichanga. My wife had two tacos, she said the shrimp taco was terrible. We both agree we can get much better Mexican food elsewhere. Chips and salsa were good!

Huge disappointment. I have been dining at Blanco for over 10 years. I visit Arizona from Texas frequently and this has usually been the first place I rush to from the airport and I’ve always looked forward to coming here. Unfortunately Blanco has super downgraded their ingredients, particularly the steak. Last time I visited, I tried my friend’s steak fajitas and they were amazing and I couldn’t wait to come back this weekend and order them. However, the steak tasted like actual rubber, I was unable to eat it and had to spit out the 2 bites that I attempted to eat. I also tried a friend’s chicken fajitas and it was not good either. We also had some appetizers which were also not the same as I remembered. Overall still a nice atmosphere but just know you may be disappointed if you haven’t been here in a few months.

Man, I was disappointed. If you want authentic Mexican food, this is not the place to go to. It's really Americanized to cater to a narrow consumer base. However, the food is usually great, this is not my first time here. This time, I ordered what I usually get: Chicken Enchiladas with poblano sauce (this is usually extra because the poblano sauce comes with a different enchilada plate). This time I also got something for my mother: A carne asada burrito with green sauce. (I asked for a wet burrito with green sauce, and the lady who took my order said that they did have it on their menu, but she was dishonest with me and still said yes). I also asked for a side of guacamole, but all I got was roughly cut up avocados with no salt, no lime, or flavor. I had to finish mixing the guacamole with the flavor I wanted at home. It's a very simple thing to make, and they couldn't finish it themselves. (Photos for all my complaints are in this review). My mother is a recent liver transplant patient, and she needs to eat well-cooked red meat to avoid infection because of the immunosuppressants she is on, so I asked them to please make sure all meats are well cooked, but they took that to mean burnt. The carne asada was dry, crunchy, and we could not finish it, so I tossed it. It was a bummer because I've eaten here before, and they gave me what I ordered. This time, I did not even get the poblano sauce I asked for. All I got for my chicken enchiladas was a pre-packaged green sauce over the whole thing. For everything, it cost me around $52 dollars, which is horrible for just two people and without good customer service. At least the plates come with rice and beans that tasted simple, but not bad. The only good thing about this experience was the girl who took my debit card and gave me the receipt to sign. That's it. I won't be eating here again. The only reason why I ate here was because of my previous experience and because it is so close to my hotel. For anyone who has ever eaten at El Super, Mi Ranchito, or Pollo Loco, they are miles better and they serve good burritos for much much less. The environment here is phenomenal, they have a bar, and a nice well kept place with monitors all around showcasing sports games and the like. I just wish the quality of the food and customer service matched the quality of the restaurant itself. They need to get the orders right and be honest about what they do/don't have.
