It was a little loud, with added live music, which made it hard to hear. The service was excellent. Servers are top notch. The food was delicious- my party had soup, Brussels sprouts, the chicken parm, the cod, the salmon, the special tenderloin, and a kids pasta. All of them were fabulous and huge portions. The only thing that wasn’t good was the poutine. I love poutine and have had it numerous ways. I actively disliked this one. Overall a great experience though.
Ah, ah, amazing food and service. Even though they got busy not long after opening, the service was still great. Their calamari was the best I've ever had although it was served w tarter sauce, which I thought was strange. It didn't need any sauce added to it though- so yum. The NE clam chowder was just as good w nice chunks of potatoes and meat. My burger had tomato jam & a whole slab of fried mozzarella- just wow. The buffalo chicken wrap, steak ceasar, and a chicken sandwich w fried pickles & bacon on it were all reported as very good.
Compliments to the chef 🧑🍳 The food tastes great! The service was good ! The atmosphere is very nice! I don’t live nearby but am definitely coming back for more! Tried the Mac and cheese, fried chicken, seasonal salad was tasty! And also tried the salmon and fennel farro dish, delicious 🤤 The white clam chowder has a smokeyness to it. Bravo 👏
Went with a group of three friends. We spent a lot of time raving about the food. Two of us ordered the “grilled cheese,” which is daily chef’s creation. This one was duck a l’orange, tomato, cheese, and basil on grilled Texas toast. My one friend said, “I had high expectations when I heard the description from our server. This exceed it. It’s delicious.” Also, really great service in a very comfortable atmosphere. Super. Highly recommend listening to the specials and getting on if you are so inclined.
We had a great dining experience here. The food was amazing! Both my husband and I had the Cod with rice pilaf and asparagus cooked to perfection. Our waitress Alexis was sweet and welcoming.
In town for business and have had The Duck on my "must try" list for some time, so took advantage of the opportunity. Service was great and very friendly. Ordered the clam chowder, house salad, and duck. Another in our party ordered the Lobster Gnocchi. Chowder was very good with a hint of smokiness, maybe from bacon. House salad with house made blue cheese was excellent. Love house made dressings! The duck breast was cooked perfectly and highly recommend. The lobster gnocchi had good portion of lobster. Would definitely return.
📍 Location & Atmosphere The Duck, located in Sturbridge, offers a charming and rustic dining experience with warm wood interiors, ambient lighting, and a cozy, structured layout that’s perfect for both casual afternoons and intimate dinners. We visited on a quiet Wednesday afternoon and enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere that allowed us to really take in the space and service. 🍽️ Food & Drinks We started our meal with cocktails—each with its own standout qualities. The Coconut Key Lime Martini was perfectly balanced: not overly sweet, with just the right hint of coconut and citrus. It was refreshing and smooth. The Juliet was much more tart, likely due to the blend of citrus and bitters, making it a bolder choice for those who enjoy a punchier cocktail. For starters, we ordered a variety of small plates that could easily double as entrées due to their generous portions: • Crab Cake: Exceptionally fresh with a light hand on the filler. The texture was delicate and moist without being overly dense—truly one of the better crab cakes we’ve had. • Mussels: Served in a flavorful tomato-based broth, the mussels were plump and well-prepared. A touch more bread for dipping would have elevated the dish even further, as the broth was too good to leave behind. • Poutine: A unique twist using waffle fries, cheese curds, and rich duck gravy. This dish was indulgent, flavorful, and well-executed—the duck gravy added a depth that truly elevated the classic Canadian comfort dish. Altogether, these three appetizers were more than enough to fill us up, and each brought something special to the table in terms of flavor, quality, and presentation. 👨🍳 Service & Hospitality Service was smooth and unobtrusive. Our server was soft-spoken and efficient, with a kind demeanor and subtle charm that came through with conversation. They kept the pacing of our meal well-timed without making us feel rushed. 💡 Unique Selling Point The Duck offers a refined twist on comfort food, elevating familiar flavors with quality ingredients and creative execution. The use of duck in the poutine, the freshness of the seafood, and the attention to drink composition are all standout qualities. Combined with the rustic-chic ambiance, it’s a well-rounded experience.
A friend of mine and I took a Fall drive with The Duck as the destination. We shared the mussels, and I had a cup of clam chowder and my friend had a burger. The food was excellent. The clam chowder is some of the best I have ever had. The under-hint of bacon works really well. Not too overwhelming. We also had dessert. We tried the cheese cake and the carrot cake. Both were delicious and very shareable. We could have survived getting just one dessert to share but we don't regret it. Lol. So delicious. The atmosphere is quaint and they have a cool bar that has regular sized chairs at it. We didn't sit at the bar but it was interesting to see. I highly recommend trying The Duck!
Great tavern feel - excellent bar by the windows. The best potato gnocchi with brown butter sauce !!! Judy & John the bartenders are awesome! Excellent martinis & expansive wine list. Great date place - not fancy but rustically intimate & cozy. They also do lots of cool events if you sign up for their email. One of our favorite spots!!
Really good tasting food! Nice atmosphere as well. :)
Came here for a work lunch and really enjoyed the food. The Poutine is a great bang for your buck as it was a lot of food. I loved it had waffle fries which soaked up a lot of the gravy. It also came with a poached egg which was a nice addition. Kung Pow Cauliflower was also amazing. It had a really nice sear to it and kung pow sauce which wasn’t too spicy if that is an issue for you. Some Kung pow sauce I’ve had are overly sweet or taste like they’re from a jar, but I enjoyed this one. It was a fairly small serving though. I wasn’t sure how the mustard sauce for the Seared Salmon dish would be, but loved the dish as well. Wasn’t heavy and I liked the pilaf.
The Duck has great food and even greater, friendlier service from Maggie. Seared Scallops appetizer tasted great although it was served a bit cold. Pesto Gnocchi was really, really good with lots of flavors. Seared Duck Breast was excellent also. Creme Brule was served with fresh cream also. Overall an excellent dinner at The Duck!
Great meal at The Duck today. Warm and Cozy loft dining with spaced out seating. Perfect scratch cooked comfort for a cold rainy day. Pretzel Sticks appetizer was 4 big puffy pretzel breads with a ale cheese sauce, light and fluffy inside with slight crust on the outside served hot. The wife said the Clam Chowder was great. She had an excellent blue cheese burger on greens with onion strings and I had a Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich with onion strings. The onion strings are light and well seasoned. The bacon aioli on the chicken sandwich was amazing. We shared an excellent lemon cheesecake for dessert. Great service, food was out fast and most importantly the food was excellent!
Rustic atmosphere of post and beam style located on the upper level. Parking lot in back. Eclectic menu with a variety of options for all taste interests. Started with a glass of white Sangria. For appetizers we had the Duck Poutine and Grilled Pork Belly, both were very flavorful. For my entree I had the Teriyaki Salmon & Rice Noodles which was phenomenal! Everything here was absolutely delicious and priced accordingly. Alyssa our server was very friendly and personable. She timed our entrees perfectly giving us enough space after enjoying the appetizers. Would definitely come back to The Duck.
Good food in a warm setting. Decided on this place after researching a few in the area. Reservation helped narrow down time and table. Arriving and driving into the back, there is plenty of parking. Made our way upstairs and entered an open setting. There is sit down, bar, and casual seating by the bar. Staff is helpful and food comes out to ordered specifications. Recommend for sure.
Great service and food! My boyfriend and I shared their chef inspired Flatbread as an appetizer and it was delicious! It was enough for 3 people, we had to take a couple slices home. I ordered a Strawberry Salad with Steak Tips as my meal, which was huge, but I managed to eat most of it because it was so good! My boyfriend ordered a burger with french fries and he enjoyed it. It was also a large burger with a decent amount of fries. My only negative is that main room is very loud, I was happy we were sat in the newer adjoining room, it was much quieter in there. Overall, great experience and we'll definitely be back!
My absolute favorite place for lunch or dinner in Sturbridge. The atmosphere alone is worth going for. The rustic barn beams and comfortable seating, I love hanging out here. The food is always incredible. We ordered and loved the duck poutine, bolognese pasta, and brownie with coffee ice cream. They also had an awesome selection for draft beer and a huge variety of unique craft cocktails.
The updates look great, new tap room is very nice. Nice selection of beer. Great new menu, food was excellent. Great drinks and great staff! Consistently great food and service!
Great restaurant to check out with some friends! My meal and dessert were fantastic! Vegetable Gnocchi and Pumpkin Cheesecake. Love the vibe/atmosphere. Our server Becky was great too!
Cute atmosphere. Duck poutine, burger, and steak meals were all delicious. Nice craft beer menu. Of note, you have to be able to manage a decent amount of stairs to get up into the restaurant.
We stopped in on a whim for a quick late night Drink and Appetizer. The setting was cozy and elegant but not Stuffy at all. We sat at the bar which had these Awesome comfy wheely lounge type chairs that I was not expecting at all!! My Pineapple Jalapeño drink was really good! Not spicy, you can taste the Jalapeño not so much Feel it. The crab cake was excellent and the Cheese board was a very nice flavor combination! I’m looking forward to returning and checking out more of the menu! Also the service was very friendly and on point!
Great service and food. This was our second year having Thanksgiving dinner at the Duck. They are well organized, and your food comes out hot.
My first time here. I had a Cesar wrap with sweet potato fries, beer and dessert. They were all very good. Lots of chicken in the wrap. Perfect size. Dessert was sinfully delicious. I will return.
I had the BEST experience at The Duck 🙌. I sat at the bar. The bar area is raised, giving the appearance of the dining area being "sunken in" which is very cool. It is such a cozy space. The chairs are the most comfortable chairs at a restaurant or bar that I've ever sat on. They are a leather material, soft, and a great height. They're a curved shape and have wheels, which allows them to easily slide back and forth. The chairs are in front of a giant window, which lets a lot of beautiful natural light in, and it's nice to see that natural light dim as evening sets in. When seated and facing the bar, you can see all of the gorgeous exposed ceiling beams, beautiful twinkle lights, another window, a lighted chandelier, and the restaurant. The bartenders are AMAZING! I had the pleasure of meeting Judy ❤️. She is friendly, bubbly, and absolutely adorable. I ordered a mocktail and told her to whip up whatever she thought would be good. She made the BEST mocktail I have had, like ever. It was a blueberry mojito mocktail. She made a simple syrup out of fresh berries. The drink was not sweet and not bitter. It was crisp and refreshing, so much so that I ordered multiple! She and the other lovely gal that was working the bar also gave excellent suggestions on great meals to order. The dishes ordered were so delish, and eating up at the bar was so comfortable. The ambiance, in addition to the musician that was there playing his guitar and singing cover songs, set the perfect vibe for a Saturday evening ✨️. It wasn't too loud, and the seating was so nicely spaced, which made conversing easy. I would 10/10 recommend the Duck for a great meal, setting, and evening out.
First time here..very enjoyable. Food was delicious, service was great, and there was an immensely talented acoustic guitar player playing throughout our dinner. Bonus points for having a nice selection of gluten free menu itemd.
My Wife and I really liked this place. The service was excellent and the food was very good. Nice and clean looking place. We will definitely be back.
The food, service, and atmosphere were all awesome! Delicious, friendly, cozy but spacious. A great dining experience.
Grilled Cheese of the Day. Awesome!! Vegs, special sauce made it a winner!! The French fries were crispy, plenty of them! Delicious lunch.
This was my 4th visit to The Duck. Food - every meal I've had here always satisfies. Well prepared, well seasoned with beautiful presentations. Tonight I had fried calamari and a Loft Burger. The calamari was really good - tender, perfectly fried, well seasoned and perfectly fresh. My burger was cooked perfectly and the onion strings were delicious. Service - Highlight of the night was our server, Lauren. We've been to many places recently and was feeling like great service was a lost art. Lauren has restored my faith. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Took our tables entire order without writing a thing down and nailed it perfectly! I can't say how much her service added to our experience! Thank you, Lauren!!! Atmosphere - kind of a barn/loft experience. Really cool!
Went today for the Mother's Day special, 4 course meal. Choice of soups, salads, 4 entrees, deserts, Mimosa(2 each) and coffee. We had prime rib and duck. Both were excellent, cooked perfectly. Our server Maggie was top notch, attentive and helpful. Overall an exceptional experience on a special day. We look forward to going back for a non-holiday experience.
Stop for quick lunch. Had calamari it was fantastic. Then had a chicken sandwich which was also fantastic. Would highly recommend
Everything was delicious! Our waitress was perfectly attentive and friendly. Will definitely be going back.
My husband and I went to The Duck for dinner and had the absolute best experience thanks to Elijah behind the bar. From the moment we sat down, he was attentive, personable, and on top of everything. Our drinks were perfectly made (and quick!), the service was seamless, and he genuinely made the whole night more enjoyable. It’s rare to find someone who balances efficiency with such a great personality, but Elijah does it effortlessly. He’s truly an asset to the restaurant, and we’ll definitely be back because of him!
We had a great meal here! Elijah, our server, was excellent-- attentive, warm, and effective. The food was delicious. We had flank steak, risotto, and chicken parm. All were very good. The clam chowder and Caesar salad were both also delicious. For dessert, I highly recommend the creme brulée. It was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back.
1st time at The Duck. GREAT experience! Very well kept, historical building with a different cuisine genre on each floor. Very fun! It’s like a pint size Yankee Candle of restaurants. There’s something around every corner. Warm, rustic interior with low light ambience. The bar is a must see as well, packed at 5pm. We had Elijah as our server. Very personable, knowledgeable and his timing was on point throughout the duration. He knows his stuff and curated a great experience for us! Thank you Elijah! We had a shmorgasboard of items to sample the menu. BLT Flatbread (it’s Chefs Choice Daily so, just go for it), Salmon cakes, Seasonal Salad, Rstd Duck, Statler Chx , Cod and 2 desserts. Quality comfort food, people! Smaller menu which in our eyes, says “FRESHER INGREDIENTS “! Respect to the kitchen and creators! Craft cocktails were delicious, creative! Some on the stronger side, but there’s value in every sip. Worth a look see. It’s not just a place to eat, it’s an experience. Thank you!!
First time here and it exceeded expectations. We love small menus done really well, and this place knows how to execute. Shout out to Elijah our server that was fantastic.
After the Christmas by Candlelight at Old Sturbridge Village, the Duck had a snug, warm table for us. Our server was also warm and kind. She was attentive and engaging. The duck pot pie was just the right size and absolutely delicious. They serve REAL Cesar salad, not iceberg lettuce with bottled dressing. I can't eat meat so the kitchen graciously combined their black bean &corn burger and the BBQ burger and it was stellar. Thank you.
The place has a nice atmosphere, and the staff were friendly. The food was average, but overall we enjoyed our time there
We love the Duck, never disappoints. Our bartender was terrific, she attentive and made us some great cocktails. We had Calamari for starters and that was one of the best we have had in a while. I had their tavern berger cooked to perfection with onion strings and those were a guilty pleasure. My wife had the ceasar wrap with chicken which she enjoyed along with her fries. We shall return.
Great place! We frequent the area and today The Duck was on the chopping block. Really great blacken salmon wrap with sweet potatoes fries. I wish the crab cake was crispier. Crab was FRESH FRESH FRESH. wrap full of flavors, wanted more of the tzatZiki sauce. Veggies crisp. Best SP fries every! Friendly staff, very nice place to eat in. We took ours to go. Fresh and hot out the door.
Excellent beer choices if that matters and our meals were quite good. It's been a while since we have gone there and was still quite good.
We've eaten here twice in the last 6 weeks. The service and atmosphere are great: cozy vibe and friendly servers. The food is good--we enjoyed the mac and cheese and desserts in particular--but the menu needs a few more vegetarian options.
Had duck. It was outstanding ! Waiter 5 star. Atmosphere intimate and friendly. Decor carefully crafted to make you feel comfortable. Staff went above and beyond to insure we had a great experience. This restaurant a gem! Go!!
Part of a group having dinner together. The food was good and it was a nice setting for being able to talk throughout the meal. Our server was super friendly.
The service was okay. Our waitress was nice but she did know much about the food offered. I ordered the duck and it was a tad dry. Not a bad restaurant, average.
This place has greatly diminished in quality of food and service. We were here a total of 3 hours. We had a party of 11. The chicken parm was dry, the linguine lukewarm, the seasonal salad was swampy and the ceasaer wrap with chicken was very average. Food took way too long and it took considerable time to get the check. I will not be back. Hope someone else has better experience.
Won’t be coming back. Their menu is amateur. My food was cold and it wasn’t worth the cost. I would have been better off going somewhere actually decent.
We were 8 people and none of us will be back. The pasta with the chicken parm was cold and dry. The burgers were tough. We suffered through the evening for 3 hours! Our waitress, Pearl, was very good at disappearing. We were down to sucking ice cubes waiting for more drinks. The prices are outrageous. The reservation was under Kim Lacaire October 25.
My food was undercooked and I felt very rushed. And not to mention our server was pretty rude to us, didn’t seem like they wanted to help. We hoped for a better outing. Update: I got food poisoning the next day after.
I wouldn’t eat at this place and if you do, please ask to see the kitchen. It’s filthy. There is a horrendous smell coming from inside of it. I’ve found multiple dead flies throughout the restaurant. For what they’re charging, they’re completely deceiving people. Please don’t risk getting sick and take your money elsewhere.
