Good value and great authentic Mediterranean food. Cozy atmosphere and quick service. Really enjoyed our visit!
Absolutely fantastic Mediterranean food and Lebanese classics. Everything is prepared fresh and so delicious. Try it once and you'll be hooked!
Do not let the sketchy looking outside detour you...best Mediterranean food I've found in a hundred mile radius absolutely the best of Syracuse every single thing ordered was absolutely delicious
This was the best gyro, salad, hummus and pistachio baklava I'VE EVER HAD! The waitress was awesome, kinda and attentive, even with the place being packed. Highly recommend them!
Very friendly staff and the food was good too. We asked for a simple chicken dish for my 15 month old and they provided it without any fuss even though it doesn't exist on the menu. We will be back.
Quick service, nice staff, and the falafel was nice and crispy and not dry on the inside. Drove past it a few times since it's inconspicuous but overall really good vegetarian platter
This is one of the best places in Syracuse! I recommend the Zataar sandwich and the falafel. Everything was so amazing. I will definitely be coming back.
Grape leaves entree served with tabbouli, hummus bin tahini, bread, and tzatziki. The Grape leaves were filled tightly with meat and rice and the food was delicious with friendly service.
Best middle eastern food in the Syracuse area! Polite staff, homemade food, and quick service. Multiple kinds of baklava and easy take out. Sick of chain restaurants? THIS place is the answer.
Goodies is our regular place to go on James St. in Eastwood , NY. We usually have the Mazza plate, which is a combination of 4 choices from a list of 12 options. Today I had fish because it was Friday and their fish is very good.
Great food , great service !!!! I've been here several times and will be back many more. You can usually find them on Groupon. Great way to try something new. Try the kibbeh , delicious!
Great middle eastern food. My friend Peter who grew up in Beruit claims this is the best Middle Eastern food in Syracuse. Although I've never been to Lebanon (just Turkey and Jordan), I also think everything at Goodies is great.
Better Mediterranean food I have had in a long time. Come back to Syracuse for a visit. So glad I tried this place. Save room for the dessert.
Seriously the best falafel I've had in Syracuse yet! Everything was amazing here. Bonus if you're covid cautious because they are taking all the precautions
I had a really nice dining experience. The waitress was very friendly, and the food was delicious! The restaurant far exceeded my expectations!
The Greek food is so fresh and delicious. I eat here as often as I can. The prices are reasonable and the owners are super friendly.
Amazing food. We had Lamb Shishkabob and we loved it! Very friendly people in a nice n cozy structure.
Great food and baklava. Service is usually good. Sometimes slowish but nothing that would give this place a negative rating.
Very friendly and great food! Huge portions too. You won't go home hungry. I will absolutely be back next time I'm traveling through Syracuse.
First time Customer - had a Gyro and grape leaves. The man at the desk was very nice said all items are homemade. Service was quick and dining room appeared clean and neat. will return with friends next time as the food was AWESOME.
Had the pleasure of trying some of their foods from their table at the CNY Regional Food Market. I haven't had a spinach pie that good since childhood. Everything I ate tasted like home. Fantastic quality and such nice people.
Food was excellent. Ordered chicken kabobs and substituted Greek salad for tabouleh. Lots of flavor and generous portions (I'll get 3 meals out of it!). Falafel and homemade hummus were also great. Will definitely be returning
I went to Goodies after several disappointing meals at a well known Middle Eastern place in Fayetteville. Wow was I and my guest pleasantly surprised. out standing waitress place was spotless clean. The Food was hands down the best and freshest food I have had in a long long time. I would highly recommend Goodies to every one and they earned two loyal return customers. Thanks Goodies. Already forgot about that place in Fayetteville.
Delicious! This was our last meal at the end of a long trip to Niagara Falls and the Maine coast. We were headed back down to home and found this little place. The baklava was to die for I must say!
We had the falafel, hummus and stuffed grape leaves which were all very good, and taboule was the best I've had - I don't say that lightly. They have the thin Lebanese style pita which I like and goes great with it. We had the walnut baklava for desert and it was also excellent.
Very good service and great food. Comfortable atmosphere leads to a family like atmosphere. Of course it helps if you have a baby. Simple menu with all the favorites along with options if you want something basic. Options to take-out hummus, baklava, tzatziki, tabouli is a plus.
Amazing little place. The owner and waitress were great people, the food was outstanding quality. Fresh tabouli, hummus, the grape leaves were delectable... and the baklava... oh my... the baklava! I picked this place off a google suggestion for the area and I highly suggest stopping in!
Fantastic little place with delicious food.
I'm 76 years old and I am just now getting my computer legs. I wrote one Google review for my dentist and write this one for my favorite restaurant, Goodies. It's a relatively new and tiny little place on James Street near the Wegman's store. The service staff and the food are wonderful. And the Mediterranean cuisine is very good for you.
Ordered 5 apps to share with my partner. The tabouli was fresh and flavorful; the fries were piping hot, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside; the dolma was just right; the falafel was packed with savory spices and carried a little heat on the backend; and the star of the show was the spanakopita with a perfectly flakey crust.
Love this place. Great food, relaxed atmosphere, fair prices. The stuffed grape leaves are top notch, along with their creamy hummus. Drive 45 minutes just to eat here.
Great food!! Mazza choices are great! And there are a lot of them! Babaganouge and falafel are my special choices. Love. The grape leaves are xcellent! The monster burger lives up to its name! And the ff are super! And don't forget Fri fish fry. So gd! Yum for everything!
Great authentic Mediterranean food for a great price! Hefty portions and quick service. Some of the best falafel and baba ghanoush I've ever had. Make sure to try their homemade desserts!
Excellent customer service. Friendly, and efficient. Fantastic food. Would def. Recommend it to others, and we'll be back for sure! Had Greek Salad, w/ chicken...perfect!
I had spanakopita (spinach pie) and my friend had beef shawarma with falafel, everything was so good! Loved all the sauces and pitas as well. The food was cooked to order which made me feel like I was eating a home cooked meal. I would highly recommend this place!
Goodies has great food and great service! I enjoyed eating their Mazza combination and their spinach pies! I definitely recommend coming here for lunch or dinner.
Forever grateful to Goodies for introducing me to za'atar bread, and the baba ghanoush is the best I’ve ever had. To add to the experience, the owner has always been extremely friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Goodies.
Just had an awesome meal at Goodies. Chicken Chawirma was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Oh, big portion also. Lamb and beef gyro to go for lunch tomorrow!
This is my favorite Mediterranean place in Syracuse. The owner is so lovely, so I’m always happy to support him. My favorites are the homemade hummus, chicken gyro, salad with seasoned feta and pistachio baklava.
My girlfriend and I just ordered from here for the first time and we’re very pleased and impressed. I got the chicken gyro and she had the chicken kabob dinner. We also shared an order of hummus. The food was homemade fresh and the best takeout we’ve had in a long time (we don’t order out a lot due to bad quality and preparation). And not to mention the baklava is absolutely delicious too!!! We can’t wait to order from here again and try other menu items. Thanks Goodies 😁
My wife and I found out about them at the farmers market during the summer and we decided to go for the first time a few weeks back, and we loved it! The owner and the staff were all great to us. It was nice to see people who truly cared about their customers. The food was the best Mediterranean we have had in the area. Everything full of flavor and great portion sizes. We highly recommend that anyone gives them a try!
The best Gyros and fries in the entire neighborhood and surrounding areas! Best part is the longevity they're gyros have tasted the same if not better since the first day they opened until today.. time is the best tester of all, and time was on this restaurants side because everything you ordered from their menu is superb! Highly recommend!!
What an unexpected gem. Looking forward to my next visit to Syracuse so I can go back to Goodies for another great meal and see the folks that run it, what a delight!
So yummy!! From the outside, Goodies seems like a hole in the wall restaurant. It's not exactly the prettiest on the inside either, but it definitely has charm. The owner was so friendly and welcoming! She brought out our food really fast. I thought it was a little pricey at first, but you get SO. MUCH. FOOD. I was filled and satisfied!!
Pleasantly surprised by this family restuarant. It is family owned and operated. The food is prepared fresh...so it takes a few extra minutes. Although listed as Mediterranean, it is specifically Lebanese in flavor, which is still very good. The waitress was attentive, which helped because this was our first visit. We ordered a platter to give us assorted offerings. Don't forget the baklava, if you are full, order for takeout. We will return. Dined again today at this wonderful place. The lamb kabob is absolutely delicious.
This place is a true gem. Delicious, authentic Mediterranean food. Incredibly friendly owners. The lentils and rice with onions was one of the tastiest things I've every tied. We will be back!
If you have the chance, definitely stop here! Visiting from out of town and the owner went out of the way to make us feel welcome. Even offered to take our picture! Food was fresh, high quality, and well priced. Can’t recommend the spot enough
Excellent tasting Middle Eastern food. Prices and portions were good. People were very nice. Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior. Only been here once for takeout, but I'm very happy. It's hard to find good Middle Eastern food around here, so we'll be back in soon!
Delicious and a very good value! Made to order, love that. Grape leaves are some of the best I've had, falafel too. Beef Shawirma is delicious and quite a generous portion. Staff is welcoming and efficient. I'm in town on business and will most certainly return for more great fresh Mediterranean food!
I originally met the owner's of Goodies while shopping through the farmers market on Saturday mornings. I was pulled in when I heard they had homemade hummus. I decided to grab some along with grape leaves, which was also made from scratch. When I got home and tried them, I was pleasantly surprised. It was absolutely delicious. I was given a business card at the market with the address of the actual restaurant on it, so I decided to have my husband take me out to dinner at Goodies. I ordered Chicken Kabobs and my husband decided to stick with his love for Italian so he ordered the Chicken Riggies. And again we were both in love with the dishes. Along with the delicious food, the service and hospitality of everyone working in the restaurant was wonderful. All around our experience at both the market and the restaurant was way above ordinary. Next time your in the area or just want a great dining experience, head down to Goodies!
Edit 10/22/23 Finally went back and the food was still delicious. It was so good I had to get a second babaghanough to go! Even the spanakopita was great this time. Very flaky and yummy. Friendly staff. I didn't take any stars off for the atmosphere, but it could be better. That place should be packed with how good their food is. I imagine most of their customers get take out or delivery. Anyway, I'll be back. Best Mediterranean food I've ever had. Went last night with my husband. The babaghanough and falafel were AMAZING. Everything was really good. Spanakopita could've been crisper, but that's a small issue. I wish I lived closer because I will definitely be returning.
Everything about this restaurant is amazing. Their gyros are the best I’ve ever had. The falafel is my new obsession and every dessert is perfect. Everyone is always so friendly and go above and beyond to make sure you’re satisfied. Love this place!!
Definitely a hole in wall, but they do have some outdoor seating as the restaurant is currently closed to indoor dining. Food was incredible! So much flavor in the chicken kabobs. I loved the dulmas, hummus, and spanakopita. Delicious meal with perfect Mediterranean flavors. Highly recommended!
I walked into a charming restaurant and was greeted with kindness and a smile! The owner was very nice and personable! Ordered food to go and it was absolutely delicious. 10/10! Next time I will eat there. Highly recommend!!
This place is wonderful the owner and staff are absolutely amazing!! And the food was top notch highly recommend trying this place
First, the food is fantastic. The owner took great care to explain each dish to us and make recommendations based on our questions. It was fun to try something new and different from what we are used to getting when dining out. Generous portions left is satisfied and happy.
Such good food and the service was some of the best service I’ve ever had!!! The owner is the absolute sweetest man!!
Very nice place! Owners are super sweet. Ordered a delicious Greek salad to go and it was wonderful! If I lived in the area, I would come here ALL the time! Loved the vibes and the owners. My fellow Middle eastern peeps 😀 🇵🇸
So good- I'll have to take a picture of the food and leave another review. It's listed as number 4 for vegan food in Syracuse, and the reviews are right. I got the vegetarian platter subbing tahini for tzaziki, my bf got a beef kebab (he's not vegan). We loved our food, best falafel ever! Definitely will be back. Quick update: this time he got chicken shawarma. We both liked our food a lot.
Had the vegetarian platter and it was tasty. It had Falafal, hummus, Babaghanough with pita, and Dulma (grape leaves with veg stuffing). Portion size was good, possibly leftovers to take. Laziza drink (non alcoholic) had many flavors….tried the Dates flavor and it was tasty…not as carbonated as regular pop drinks. Mom and Pop kind of setup. Owner took order and served us…also made some recommendations off the menu. He brought out a cart with assorted desserts but too full to get dessert. Save for next time. Google review had mentioned “unpretentious” and it was just that.
Loved it here! We ordered the baba ghanoush, pita, hummus, salad, dandelions, chicken schwarma, flavored drinks, the gyro, and baklava. Everything we had here was amazing. This place also had a location on Marshall St that recently closed. You can also find them at the Regional Farmers' Market on Saturdays in Syracuse. We loved it here and will definitely be back!
I was in town for one night and this spot was close to my hotel, so I got take out. I had a wonderful conversation with the owner and another woman behind the counter while cashing out. Very nice people & very, very good food. The lentil soup... soooooooo good!!! i could eat that for every meal. I will be back anytime i'm in the area!! thank you!!
We got the beef & lamb gyros. Amazing food, great service. And the owner is always so friendly. We also loved the baklava!
Called and ordered lentil soup with spinach and potatoes, a cheeseburger with steak fries , a lamb gyro, and tabbouleh salad went to pick up ready fast while there I got some baklava (there baklava is amazing) everything was delicious. The owner is a very pleasant man . And the inside restaurant is back open for business. It’s a small place next to Gillian’s pub and Sandy’s barber shop on James Street . Food is always excellent. He gave me a free eggplant appetizer that was also delicious.
Found Goodies in my dining program and, as the closest option, I gave it a shot. Liked it so much the first night, I returned the next. Easy to overlook because there is not a lot of curb appeal and it's not in a ''trendy'' area but the food is awesome and the staff/owner is friendly and pleasant. The boss did it all...seating, waiting, cooking and clean up. (There was actually someone else back in the kitchen but I never saw them. LOL) I had their version of dolmathes which was excellent. Kibbeh was dinner the first night. Lamb kebab the second. Both were excellent with ample portions. The cool find here was the Laziza, a Lebanese non-alcoholic beer, which is delicious. I had several. Reasonable prices and worth giving them a shot.
We were in our way to NJ from Niagara Falls and found this restaurant for a cup of hot soup. Actually, we didn’t expect that it will be that delicious, but we are glad that we had our dinner in this place. We tried Burger 🍔, vegetarian platter 🥗, beef kebab 🥙, humus, soup 🥣, black tea ☕️, baklava, and pita. They were all great choices for dinner. Thank you so much for everything. The owner was so nice. Highly recommended.! BEST ONE WAS BURGER BTW!
Excellent in every way! The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Not once have I ever had a problem. One time something was missing from my order, but the situation was resolved immediately. We always get delivery, so I can't rate the restaurant on atmosphere, but I give it a big 5 stars on both the food and service (and delivery.) I hope they have a thriving business and happy customers for years to come!
Amazing food!! A cute and cozy place with great service! We ordered falafel, spanakopitakia, and grape leaves for appetizers. Then for entrees we had a Gyro with beef and lamb and Kafta! The food arrived quickly and the timing between apps and entrees was perfect. Every bite of food was delicious right down to the salads that came with our entrees!! We decided to take home dessert and boy are we glad we did! The assorted baklava was the best I ever had and the jam filled cookies melted in your mouth, Yum! We are already planning for our return visit so we can sample more of their great food! Stop in or order some takeout, you wont be disappointed!!
I really enjoyed the chawirma at Goodies. The chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned and came with plenty of onions, peppers, and tomatoes. The hummus and falafel were some of the best I have had. The service was quick and friendly, and I enjoyed the regional music playing on the sound system. I will definitely consider this place again next time I'm in town!
We've been to this spot a couple of times. It's a special local gem. Family owned and run. Authentic, tasty Mediterranean food. Friendly service. Head on over for a delicious, initmate dinner.
Good service. Grape leaves were very tasty. The tzatziki sauce was good. Pita was fresh and hot. Hummus was good. All in all a good experience.
Falafels were really good. Tried the grape rolls but they were too sour.... Small place might seem crowded at times
Service is great. The lamb kabab is okay. The kids cheeseburger is excellent. Nice Arabic music.
I'd never had Mediterranean food before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I'm very glad that goodies was my first Mediterranean experience. The woman working there was friendly, and the food had a very authentic feel. Overall a very positive experience.
Food was very good. We both had Gyro's. My only complaint was the meat was a bit light on the sandwich. A bit less lettuce and just a slice more meat would have been much better. The owner and the waitress we really nice and made the experience very pleasureable. Thanks alot.
We were looking for a restaurant close to our hotel.Goodies did not disappoint. The food was delicious, authentic, homemade. Service was very personable. We would definitely recommend a visit!
I went with my family of 7. I don't like Mediterranean style food. Everyone else loved it. Very good variety of Lebanese dishes were tried. Traditional drinks and desserts were had with the meal. This local family diner does not catch the eye as you drive by. But if you stop and give it a try if you like Lebanese style dishes it will be well worth your time. The owner/operators were very nice and friendly. You will certainly not leave hungry.
Hidden Gem with Great Chicken, Friendly Service, and Delicious Desserts I was looking for some local Mediterranean food and decided on Goodies Mediterranean. At first, I had second thoughts—the parking lot was empty, and the exterior didn’t look too inviting. But I’m glad I stuck with my decision! I ordered the Chawirma Chicken entrée and cashew baklava for dessert. While waiting, I had a great conversation with the owner, which made me feel more comfortable about my choice. He even threw in a free appetizer when I mentioned I was taking my food to go—such a nice gesture. The main course was excellent, especially the chicken. However, the pita and salad were a bit below average. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would go back to try something else on the menu. The dessert was a standout!
This was my 1st ever visit to a Mediterranean restaurant my waitress was very patient and explained just about the whole menu to me. I found the food to be good, I dont really have much experience to compare it to. But it was good for a 1st timer. I'll have to seek out other Mediterranean meals and then come back and update this. But for now I think 4 starts is right.
The Mazza was good, humus was excellent....beyond that we weren't impressed at all. The chicken kabob was tasteless and bland. It was priced like it was higher end than it is. Not a place we will return to.
Small place that they've made even smaller by blocking off with chairs. Eat-in is available but food comes out with plastic silverware and in to-go containers. It used to be much nicer and the food was not as good as I remember either. We likely won't go back...
Not the best Greek place around. A quick bite is good here, but you may be disappointed if you're looking for the likes of King David's. The grape leaves and the deserts are the high points here.
Food was ok. Gyros had more lettuce, tomatoes and onions than meat. What meat that it had on it, was good. Just not enough for what we paid.
I bought a Groupon for 15$ for 30$ Deal. So I figured let’s try it out. I’ve tried other mediterranean restaurants in the Syracuse area. First off they write in the Groupon that you have to purchase a drink per order to use the Groupon which OK I got a dollar water so it wasn’t too much money off of my original $15 for a 30$ deal. I bought the kafta dinner and my fiancé got the chicken kebab dinner. He agreed his meal was pretty tasty the chicken was a little dry the tabouli that came with it was very fresh but wasn’t marinated enough possibly. My kafta meal was really delicious and the rice was extremely good very fresh. The only thing I would say is their hummus is not as good as the other Mediterranean restaurants in the area and also the baklava I ordered was very dry and seemed old I didn’t care for that at all... and I got probably a 1 1/2”square for two dollars. I personally prefer the other Mediterranean restaurants in the area but it was worth a try and it wasn’t horrible but I definitely wouldn’t be going back.
Kind of average. My gyro was made with premade/precooked meat rather than cut from the rotating spit, so not real flavorful. Kind of skimpy on the meat too. Place was clean and the owners very nice. Beats fast food though.
Not the best mediterranean food in upstate NY but not bad at all. I tried the kabob and ill give 7/10. Hummus was good with the pita. The pub next door makes it a good combination; alcohol and the kabob. Didnt like that they dont allow to use the restroom for customers but i drove half a mile to use tge restroom and to wash hand. I think thats common with every immigrant owned stores, they think not letting customers use the bathroom saved a little effort for them (i didnt even order anything at the pizza place but they had no issue to let us use their restroom).
Good Lebanese food... Not great. I appreciate the ma & pa style of this shop. The price was high for the smaller portions (than my local restaurant - Aladdin's in Boardman, Ohio) and there was an overabundance of lemon in the Tabouli but the overall quality was good. I ordered a side of hummus, a 4 piece pastry mix (all were excellent), and the chicken kabobs that came with Tabouli, rice, grilled onions, grilled green peppers, and tomato (tomato was underripe). Hummus had good flavor and was "chunky" style but no olive oil/olive/paprika on top. Chicken had good flavor. The biggest problem I had was that they only gave me one small piece of Pita Bread with my order ($25)... which is unacceptable considering what I ordered. Maybe I caught them on an off night. I will try them again in the future and update the review appropriately.
Food is served in foam containers with plastic forks. We had hummus and a mixed dish with falafel. The falafel were excellent. I think I had schwarma, too. The desserts were also excellent. Would have preferred plates and silverware. Not sure if this is a mostly takeout place as there was seating to eat in.
I got the gyro sandwich. Two measly pieces of prepackaged gyro meat. The sandwich was all lettuce. I didn't like it at all. The service was nice enough which is why this got 2 stars instead of 1. I would not recommend this place.
The food was very Normal and does not worth the money you pay. Especially the Ukrainian waitress is so aggressive and so rude that at the end she write herself the tip and i had to discuss with her to make her understand the tip should be written by the customer depending on the service but she did not accept. My suggestion never go here but if you have to don't tip this rude woman.
Service is very slow - do not go there for lunch! I had to leave my lunch date and go back to work before our meals ever came out! The only thing I ate was spinich pie which tasted of extremely strong vinegar. My son was left with the rest of our food and said the lamb in the gyro was overcooked and the beef kabob was very chewy. The only thing he enjoyed was the rice. We will not be going back. Totally disappointed.
Okay so I have a busy schedule and wasn't able to eat today before I went to work and I got off work and went to pick up the food that I had ordered which was lamb over rice and vegetables with salad and was very disappointed that when I got off I picked it up and got home to enjoy me a nice meal and open the plate and it was beef instead of lamb. I would never order from here again because I feel very upset that I ordered this and payed for this and was given something I do not even eat. I would give it zero Stars if I could because I find it very disrespectful to have paid money and have it throw out this whole plate which is a waste of my money
We ordered gyros and French fries. They literally gave us above 10 fries each order which was 4 dollars each. Gyros had no tziki sauce and was not too good. I don't usually leave bad reviews but I think they can do better.
The insult of paying for food and receiving such small amounts compelled me to review this dump. I ordered a gyro and received 3 small, burnt strips of meat. I work in food service and know exactly what this greedy owner is doing -- he's skimping his own customers and pocketing the difference. Those small strips are on the kind of gyros you can buy at a grocery store for $3, only the grocery store gives you 5 of those strips. So he pockets the rest and thinks he's making money. But what greedy people will never understand is that while he got away with $50 from my small family, he blew his shot at gaining a loyal customer that would have spent $400 before the seasons end, and he did that by not giving me the food I paid for. Every other dish had the same feature: skimped out on the kids tenders, skimped out on the kids fries and the basket of fries he gave me was an equally terrible joke. I'm not asking the world of these people, but if you go to Burger King and buy a whopper, a full whopper is what you get. Go to Ruby Tuesday and get a kids meal, a kid will have enough. Cans of soda were $2.08. Inflation + soda tax makes the ''expensive'' price for a single can of soda $1 -- and that's what I expected to pay, which would have been bad enough. But not this greedy stooge, he needed to pocket another dollar off us. Falafels were called ''jumbo'' but there are two kinds of falafels and the customer who knows falafels know this: there are small and large. His was small. Why lie? I will tell you: calling it jumbo enabled him to justify his price, while pocketing the difference. Besides that, he took 25 minutes to make food for one small group of people and had his waitress (who had her poor child glued to a phone, sweating out her ''shift'') cooking with him too! There's 1 rule in casual dining: people will wait for good food. Especially if there's good reason. But Goodies food was anything but good, and in the end the guy had extra help and still took way too long to accomplish his short sighted mission of ripping people off who could have kept his failing business afloat. Don't be me, save your money for a place like OIP down the street who will actually give you value and fill your stomach for your hard earned cash.
