Yellow Deli – Vista, CA Super unique restaurant on so many levels. The entire place feels like stepping into another world — built with wood reclaimed from old barns, and part of a restaurant group that’s international. They even have their own farmers helping supply fresh produce used in the food. We arrived about 10 minutes early on a Sunday and there was already a line waiting to get in — and for good reason. We ordered the Deli Rose and a smoothie, and everything was excellent. Including the Banana bread deluxe for dessert. The staff was amazing from start to finish — from Sarat who seated us, Qashab who took our order, and Ruth, the ambassador, who shared the story and history behind the place. She even offered to take us on a tour, which was such a cool personal touch. You can truly feel that they operate like a family, with people from all over, delivering fresh wholesome food made with passion. We sat out on the patio on a perfect SoCal afternoon, and it was absolutely the best spot. They also have many different seating options, so there’s something for everyone. The vibe is peaceful — no rushing, no pressure to flip tables. This is not the place for someone in a hurry. It’s a gathering place where you can relax, enjoy family or friends, and just take it all in. If you’re ever in the area, it’s definitely a destination. They’re also open 24/5, with Sunday opening at noon. Stop by, tell Ruth that TJ sent you, and get the free tour.
Such a cool concept with super sweet staff. The ambiance is relaxing and quaint. Great place for a nice catch up with friends or a place to enjoy by yourself. The upstairs has plenty of space and couches in the lounge area. Plenty of seating outside on the patio and balcony. I tried the garden salad and chipotle chicken sandwich, both had amazingly fresh ingredients. Will definitely be back!
The place is next level. The tomato basil, with side of bread was amazing! Servers are very friendly and nice! If I could put more starts i would! A must vist place!

The Yellow Deli has two locations, and both are absolutely charming, very quaint, cozy, and welcoming. The farm-to-table food is consistently delicious, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. I’ve tried most of the menu over time and it has never disappointed. The staff is always friendly, courteous, and professional, which really adds to the overall experience. Whether I’m stopping in for a meal or bringing someone new, it’s always a great visit. Something to note: the atmosphere alone is worth the stop, it’s peaceful, unique, and feels like a little escape. I make it a point to visit either location whenever I’m in the area. Highly recommend!
A must try for anyone in the area. This is a very special place with delicious food, a wonderful atmosphere, and some of the friendliest people (staff) you may ever encounter anywhere. The interior is all hand-crafted and the carpentry work and woodworking artistry is just amazing.

This cute deli is an adorable spot with delicious and consistent bites. The veggie sandwich has been my favorite for years, the waffles are a must and desserts a necessity (the persimmon pound cake is perfect!). The atmosphere is cute but service a little slow, so I would never come here when in a rush but a great spot to meet friends for a while. Their values are interesting to learn of but rarely imposed onto you. Great spot!
This place is awesome. The 12 tribes run the place. The members of the group make nearly every item on the menu from scratch. The building itself is built by the group too. Super cool vibe and good prices. There’s a mate bar in the inside and a bunch of interesting hand crafted stuff. Staff are odd but kind. Wait can be a little long. Would definitely recommend you stop by this place. The Reuben is killer. The salmon chowder and sandwich is good. All sorts of hand baked breads and stuff too. Super cool spot

Stopped by The Yellow Deli and was really impressed! The chipotle chicken sandwich was super fresh and a generous portion — definitely worth the price. The avocado was the standout — perfectly ripe and buttery — and the sourdough bread was absolutely top-notch. Highly recommend the fresh papaya juice — it comes served in a frosty mug and hits the spot, especially on a warm day. Refreshing and unique! The atmosphere is incredibly inviting with plenty of shaded areas to sit and relax. The rustic design adds the overall charm. That said, you better not be in a hurry — the service runs on a very relaxed timeline. It’s not fast food, but that kind of adds to the charm if you’re not in a rush. Only (half-joking) disappointment? No sign of any cult-like activity while I was there — unless you count the religious pamphlets left out for people to take. All in all, a great spot with delicious food and a memorable ambiance.
My first time here & the ranch chicken sandwich was 2 thumbs up! It’s their most popular sandwich for a reason. The place reminds me of the setting for the Lord of the Rings. Servers are attentive & personable

I’ve loved this place for years. After coming back into town after a couple years I stopped by and it’s still amazing. They’ve changed their menu up a little but it was seriously so good.

It is one of the best places to relax and enjoy your meal. The meal that is consciously prepared with the best ingredients and served with love. Agreed, the menu is limited, but there is an option for everyone, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The restaurant is open 24 hours for 5 days a week, from Sunday afternoon till Friday noon. It is not a fast-paced restaurant for a quick visit. It's not only about food, it is a whole experience presented to you.

It’s a unique spot that is very rustic and everything is handmade for the decor. It’s a slower paced atmosphere and don’t be in a rush. The people are very nice who work there and great food. Limited on making substitutions for menu items. Sundays are salmon chowder soup and other days it varies. The new vista way sandwich was great with buffalo chicken and chipotle Mayo.

My husband and I came here for lunch for the first time. The don’t take reservations. We put our name down and was told that they were busy today and it would be 1/2 hr to and hour wait. We checked after 45 mins and was told that there was still a wait. We explained that we had an appointment to get to and he found seating upstairs for us. We were told that the soup would be the quickest to serve so I ordered the cup of lentil soup which came with bread to have there and our sandwiches to go just in case we had to take leave. I had the Ruben sandwich and my husband had a the Alaskan salmon sandwich. The soup was so flavorful! It’s one of the best lentil soups I’ve had. I would highly recommend it and definitely get it again. I ate part of my Ruben sandwich which was delicious. It wasn’t super salty as most Ruben sandwiches are. It was just right. My husband enjoyed his salmon sandwich and was surprised how much he liked it. Overall, our experience was great (food and service) and they were accommodating to our schedule in having us seated and trying to get our meal out to us. I would recommend this place if you’re not in a rush or have any time restraint. We look forward to coming back when we have more time.
This is the most awesome restaurant I have ever been to! I've been to great restaurants, good food, good atmosphere. But this place I was extremely impressed with. The Reuben sandwich was excellent, so fresh! The Matte tea with mango juice was refreshing and gave me energy. But the best thing about the place were the people. Never met nicer servers in my life. They took the time to answer your questions and just chat with you if you wanted. I love the history of the place, the fact that they all take care of one another, have their own farms and I greatly appreciated the magnificent creativity that appears everywhere you look. I love the reclaimed wood right down to the simple fruit basket lamp shades. Truly an amazing place. I learned there are a couple in NY state and I can't wait until I get back to New Jersey to bring my daughter and really good friend whom will both really dig the mood!

I came to Yellow Deli pretty often as a child and have now revisited after a long break — honestly was surprised that the food was still delicious and the atmosphere, just as whimsical as I remember. The wooden beams, the fireplace, a running dumbwaiter, it feels like I am trapped in a cozy, cabin fairytale haha! The create your own sandwich was equally comforting, filled generously with melted cheese and turkey on a steaming wheat roll. The staff was abnormally welcoming, and I love the addition of the grocer next door. Honestly would come back!

The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. The overall ambiance and feel of the location is relaxing and comfortable. However, the service is well below average. Of course you can usually expect a little bit of a wait which is no problem. I ate here the other day and it took about an hour and 45 minutes in total. Only about 5 of that was waiting for our table. We started by waiting to even be greeted once we were seated. We were ready to order by then since we had plenty of time to read the menu, some pamphlets, etc. It took almost 20 minutes JUST to get our drinks, then another 15 to get our sandwiches. Once we finished up - it took more than half an hour to even get out check. We completely cleaned up our table, looked around for our server who was no where in site. We just continued waiting, we asked the host to help out with getting the check which didn't seem to help. I LOVE Yellow Deli, I love the place and I love the food. Unfortunately, it might be a to-go stop from now on. If you have plenty of time to kill, I'd say go for it!
