Opinions de House of Sake Walnut Creek
A weekly delight for my wife and me. Always fresh, always hassle-free, always smiles. Love the Spicy Holly Roll. I’ve been a happy regular since I moved here in 2000!
This place has been my favorite sushi place for about 5 years I used to go once a week. Hasn't had time to eat out much lately. Hadnt been there in probably 5 months. Still amazing food was perfect people were perfect. Best sushi place in bay area
Love this place! Been eating here for years! The sushi is sooo good! the dragon roll, unagi, sashimi, Godzilla roll and crab Rangoon are some of my absolute favorites! Its a odd location next to a 711 across from a Jr high but I will drive out of my way to get sushi here
Sushi staple in Walnut Creek. High quality, consistent and reliable sushi! Great service! Good for take out sushi. Also great for lunchtime
Went late on a Saturday, close to closing, the place was empty but they said it was fine to stay and eat. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered a handful of rolls and apps. All came out quick and tasted amazing! They let us stay until we were ready to go, even though they were closing up around us. Very nice people.
It's the little things. Between the cucumber and crab mix salad and the pineapple chunks in plum wine, the food here has always been exceptional. While the California rolls pack a little less wow than they did here 25 years ago, they're still a favorite. Apart from the occasionally curt sever, our visits here have all been pretty great.
Obscure location next to 7-11 but this place has excellent food and service! Always very fresh sushi due to the brisk business they have consistently. I just discovered this place and it is now my 1st choice for great sushi in WC.
This place is the best! I never made it to this restaurant when I lived in the area but I visited and finally got the chance. It was worth waiting for. Selection was wide, the service with timely and the food was absolutely delicious. I will return the next time I come to town.
This has been my favorite sushi restaurant since I was 3 years old and it has set the bar high when it comes to my expectations of sushi. In particular their salmon is the best I've ever had anywhere and I would 100% recommend the salmon belly if you feel like a little splurge! Prices are honestly pretty reasonable for being in walnut creek and the servers are always kind and prompt. My mom’s go to favorite is the spider roll and she hasn't found anyone who makes one she likes more, I'm a fan of basically everything but I will suggest the Mt Diablo roll, the swan roll, and the golden nugget as three of my top favorites! Also check out their sushi lunch special! 6 nigri, soup and salad for a good price~ my usual order is 2 salmon, 2 bonito, 2 white tuna and it's always the best fish I've ever had!
Amazing flavor. It was like eating in Japan. I had the garlic beef 9.4/10. They give u green colored peas/beans on the side - u have to open the shell and eat whats inside.
The food at House of Sake is high quality - this is my favourite sushi in the Bay Area!! The baked scallop roll is to die for, and all of the food is incredible!
Have lived in Walnut Creek about 7 years now and this is the best quality sushi I’ve found east of Oakland. Prices are also super reasonable. Have always done take out never eaten in. Kind of no frills place but just good quality clean sushi. To me their specialty rolls are the best (country, dynamite, rainbow etc).
I've been coming here for over 20 years. Fast service, good sushi with not too much rice around it. Not much of an atmosphere but everyone is fast and friendly. They always have the Warriors games on the large TV behind the Sushi counter.
A cozy, inconspicuous space that’s tucked away with amazing fresh sushi. The staff is friendly and attentive alongside the Michelin quality food. Hands down the best tempura I’ve ever had. Light, fluffy, crunchy and need I say more? Thanks to the staff for a wonderful experience!
A hideaway waiting to be discovered. This little Thai restaurant is so warm and comfy. But most of all the food SS warm and comfy as the atmosphere. Wheelchair accessible but would be tight. Because it's cozy and tables are somewhat snug. If you are looking for delicious Thai Cuisine this is the place. Dress is casual and so is the atmosphere. Cannot wait to return once again! Enjoy.. PS the prices are$$🙃
Sushi chefs very pleasant... good fish to rice ratio on sushi. Good selection of fish although no clam the day we were there. But... they had something I had never seen before. Salmon belly! Outrageously good/tasty! If it's on the menu when you visit DON'T MISS IT!
Favorite spot to go to when I have family visiting from out of town. Their specialty rolls are always crowd pleasers and are filling so they are great to share with a group without having to order too much. I'm also a fan of their Unagi Don, and love the cucumber crab salad they serve when you first sit down.
I prefer take out when it’s busy
I absolutely love this restaurant and have been coming here for nearly 20 years. The staff are attentive and kind, and the food is consistently delicious and fresh. We have celebrated birthdays here and they make it special. Whether you’re going for a bento box or sushi (or both!), you will be happy with your meal. What I love is that it’s consistent from visit to visit. The sushi is especially fresh and, in the past, I’ve asked them to recreate some of my favorite rolls from other restaurants and they were happy to give it a go (and it came out great). We visited again a few weeks ago and I was so happy with our meal that I wanted to leave a review. I should have done this sooner… they deserve every 5 stars! Oh and if you’re a plant lover… check out the gorgeous ficus at the entry. 😍 It’s real and thriving!
I travel for work and I am a big fan of sushi. The food at this place is amazing. The flavors of the rolls are right on point, the sashimi is very fresh, and the people are fantastic. I love that this is a local business, and they’re doing a great job, I came back two days in a row. You have to try the salmon belly! And don’t forget to wash it all down with some delicious sake.
House of Sake in Walnut Creek is an absolute comfort spot with phenomenal quality sushi! Every dish we tried was a delightful experience. The Spicy Holly Roll stood out with its bold, smoky flavors and scrumptious layers—an absolute must-try. The Godzilla Roll was a petite masterpiece, with a beautifully crafted tempura shell that was perfectly crisp and evenly dispersed. The Cherry Blossom Roll was another highlight, boasting a clean, fresh flavor and a stunning presentation that was almost too pretty to eat. We also enjoyed the Negihama Cut Roll (yellowtail and green onion) and the New Orleans Roll (spicy tuna cut roll)—both incredibly fresh and satisfying. The creative names for these simple yet perfectly executed rolls added a fun touch to the meal. Every bite hit the spot, and the attention to detail in both flavor and presentation is second to none. Highly recommend House of Sake for anyone seeking exceptional sushi and a memorable dining experience!
Consistent good food and friendly service. The cucumber salads were delicious to open for a good meal. Black and white roll is my regular go-to. We also ordered double hamachi roll, seared salmon belly nigiri, saba, sweet shrimp and seared salmon nigiri were all perfect. The fried shrimp heads were particularly tasty so we ordered more from the kitchen afterwards. Agedashi tofu and shrimp tempura were light and crispy. The yakitori was packed with skewed chicken and veggies in between. We will be back for more.
The food is good, and worth the try! The servers are nice.
My goto sushi spot when you wanna spend $20-50 a person. Lady there was wonderful as always, and the guys behind the bar make fast friends. Quality is excellent consistently, and there tea actually has flavor, rarer than you think. My photos are of custom rolls which they do, or maybe Im special idk 🤷♂️🤣. Cant say enough good about this place. If I had to give 1 negative just to be constructive, too many of your special rolls include crab salad and/or cucumber. Its revolting(to me), but also a non-issue since you offer custom.
Service was fast. 1 server was way more attentive then the other but all went well. Warrior Roll and Dragon Roll is what I ordered. Dragon roll was good all the flavors were there. Shrimp was still hot when sushi arrived so it was fresh as to be expected. Warrior roll looked pretty for sure. Good flavors pretty mild. It's nice they stay open when every other sushi place closes at around 3 or so. Not too expensive so coming back when I crave again.
Super fresh and yummy! My order is usually cheap and the service is fast. My favorite place for sushi.

I have been living in a walk distance of this place for a while now and I have never tried it before. Today I went there with a friend and it has been a revelation. This place is nice, not expensive and really good. I don't know why I waited that long to go there.

5 Stars – Fresh, Flavorful & Absolutely Delicious! We had such a delicious meal at House of Sake! Everything tasted incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. The Unadon was fantastic — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. It was my husband’s first time trying the Crab Rangoon and now he’s officially hooked! Each sushi roll we ordered was so good — fresh, well-balanced, and made with care. We’ll definitely be back!
God this place is the best ! The experience was a treasure the Sushi is the best I have ever had. The price is very very good you can’t beat it. I have been to tons of sushi spots but this place is the best. The sushi forces a smile with every bite. The sake is good and the pineapple they give you at the end is like candy.
This is my go to local sushi place bc it’s super close to me. Everything is tasty. Rolls are fun. Place is a bit beat up. But it’s got character. Which I enjoy. They have a tempura yam roll which is unique.
Went for Lunch on Monday. Great food, good service! Prices were low for what we ordered! Will go again.
My go to takeout sushi spot. Best quality salmon in town. Very reliable.

This is my go to place. This is always a solid 4 with fresh fish and constant turnover of fresh food. Their sevice is good though sometimes short on staff. We don't drink Sake or Beer so we bring a bottle of wine, reasonable corkage. The Himache Cama is REALLY good especially if you have non sushi eaters. We Love raw fish and their rolls too.
The place was very clean. The service was prompt and friendly. We had hot tea which was the perfect temperature. The miso soup was delicious. Both sushi rolls, the Lion King and the Snow roll were very good, fresh flavor and not too much rice. The cucumber and crab appetizer was yummy. The pineapple at the end of the meal was a nice touch. If go back!
This was good, well prepared sushi at a reasonable price. Service was good. The menu has a wide variety of items if you want sushi or you don't. My daughter and I shared some rolls and my wife had the chicken katsuyama. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
Good find, great food, friendly help. Good family place.
My husband and I have been ordering here since we moved to walnut Creek and it has been consistently delicious! We never had A chance to dine in due to covid but when we would pick uP there was almost always a line waiting to pick up. They followed all Covid protocalls and only allowed 1-2 people in to pay and receive their order. My family and I went here on Friday afternoon for lunch as a party of 7, 1 toddler and 2 newborns. The service was great and quick! The food was very delicious and so was all the sushi. My sister is a sushi addict and highly critical of the quality and she insists on ordering here whenever she is up. This was our first time dining in and she ordered 3 rolls initially and 2 more after that. Everyone was happy with their food my 5 yo niece ate everything in her bento. The only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is because a couple items were forgotten, which is understandable with a large party and she ordered from memory and got all special requests in, and the sake was warm/lukewarm and we like our sake HOT. Overall it was a great dine in experience and always quick, hot and delicious for a pick up!!
This is our go to place for new years eve everything is always so fresh and delicious.
The service was quick&staff were attentive, and friendly. The food was good. My usual(cherry blossom) was well put together. Because I seen a recommendation in the reviews for the Godzilla roll(deep fried yellowtail roll with a little spice to it)&the salmon belly, I tried them both and they delivered. The prices are decent. Altogether a great first time experience. I would return, and I would recommend. Give House of Sake a try.
Going to start off by saying this was my first time here. Getting into the place there was a line and it was fully seated. Place is a decent size not to big not to small with very clean bathrooms. Wait wasn't too long about 5 minutes or so. The food to me was amazing only really got sushi but it was great. I'm generally picky with sushi so everything we got didn't disappoint. Overall great experience would love to come back and try some other rolls

Will not recommend Oyako don & Beef don. The sauce on top is definitely not authentic. Weird. Salmon Nigiris are amazing though
I spent 17.50 on a single dragon roll, which i feel is very expensive for the portion sizes. it was a full roll, but it did not feel worth almost $20. it was good, but just good, nothing spectacular and definitely not worth the price.
Nice staff and servers. The place is a bit worn down. The chair arms all have holes from use. The sushi was average. The roll I got tried to do too much. Sometimes simple is better.

We recently moved here and are trying to find our new local sushi place, so we ate here a few nights ago. I am honestly FLOORED by all of the 5 star reviews. The only good thing about this place were the prices because I would have been super annoyed if this meal even cost a dollar more than it did. The food was highly mediocre, but I think made worse by the restaurant itself. It was quite dirty and we couldn’t wait to be done and leave. Luckily the service was fast. This is a nope.
It’s custom to make your guests feel welcome by saying hi or acknowledging your guests. We walked in and the lady came by the entrance multiple times and didn’t say hi, or put us on a waiting list, so we left since the environment did not feel welcoming. We won’t be coming back.
