I've never had a dish I didn't love here. The Italian classics, the steak and veal, the mac & cheese (any variety) are all excellent. And there's a nice selection of decent wines to choose from as well. Even when we walked in half an hour before closing time on a night when they were overrun with diners, they seated us and took our order. We were the last ones out but never made to feel rushed. We'll be back again!
It has it's plus and minuses, but the positives far outweigh the negatives. Dinners and appetizers are incredible. Service and greetings are near perfect. The service of the entire staff as a whole, is just remarkable. We get greeted.by at least four different people every time we go there. Even though we have only been there four times. So far. But from our very first experience to our most recent, we have been treated like close friends of the family or as if I had worked there for 10-15 years many years ago. Even the decor is spot on.l, at least for this kind of dinning experience. It's that family owned and operated restaurant feel that sets it all over the top. Now don't go in after reading this and expect the absolute best, like I said, it has it's minuses. The side salad is very lacking. It's a small handful of flat lettuce, a couple of cucumber slices and a cherry tomato. Now just some shredded carrots, a couple slices of red onions and some croutons will still keep cost down but adds color and flavor to step it up. And the deserts aren't anything extraordinary. Who really ever has room for desert anyway. We always get ours to go so it's nothing to stop off somewhere if we truly need a desert.
Ordered a take out meal of garlic Parmesan wings and Chicken Anthony (lightly breaded chicken with mushrooms, roasted red peppers, spinach, garlic & olive oil over capellini). Both were excellent; best wings I’ve ever had (crispy & moist) and the chicken Anthony was so flavorful. We’ve tried many dishes here and all have been consistently delicious at good portions and prices. Valente’s is one of THE best Italian restaurants in the Capital Region in a homey atmosphere with great wait staff.
Excellent food and great portions!! Enjoyed my leftover meal the next day too!
I live like 5 blocks from Valente's for 6.5 years but had never eaten there until recently. Boy, was I missing out! The food is fantastic and the portion sizes are definitely meant to have leftover. The waiter (Jack, I believe) was very sweet and friendly as well.
The food here is always great. We usually order for delivery but this night we decided to go out for dinner. Our waitress was lovely, the food was amazing. The atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming. Did I mention the food is amazing? We love Valente's.
Had a wonderful dinner. The wait staff was very friendly. Would recommend!
Delicious meals at a reasonable price. I'm so glad they brought back salad included with your meal. You could also choose soup. I love the tomato sauce.
Absolutely fabulous, food, service and drinks. You are treated like family. We are now regulars.Excellent spot for dinner , or a private catered party. They go out of their way with special orders, never a disappointment. Old fashioned comfort food, and excellent pizza and wings as well! Capital Districts best kept secret.
Absolutely fantastic. They hosted our reception and were WILDLY accommodating for everything. The chicken parm is great and the meatballs are spectacular. Make sure to go to the bar and grab a Snowball. They're the best and a definite HIGH recommendation.
The most amazing chicken parm I have ever had, and I have had a lot!! The portions are unbelievably large!!
Valente's is scrumptious! I like the Chicken Anthony with provolone cheese, red peppers, mushrooms and spinach sauteed in garlic butter. Their price is very reasonable for a lot of food. Meals come with your choice of soup or salad and bread!
Johnathon was an amazing sever! The food incredible! My salmon was cooked to perfection and the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was crisp and refreshing. Looking forward to coming back!
Typical upstate Italian. Family run, serving enormous portions you eat for days (for reasonable prices). I think their sauce is the best in Capitaland. The service for take out is usually pretty good, waiting less than 10 mins when you come to pick up your order. For dining in, service can be spotty, especially on Friday or Saturday nights (very popular place with locals). Definitely worth the patience, though.
Went out tonight with a couple friends and it was delicious. Everything was top-notch quality and the service was great. I'm going to think about the eggplant rollatini for a long time. Plus, free, hot bread and butter that was off-the-charts delicious! - 10/10
If you haven't been here it's a must try, OMG when our plates came I looked at my girlfriend like do you see these portions, we could've ordered one plate and shared it and still brought home leftovers!! I got the chicken Anthony so good, their bread is to die for, try it you won't be disappointed!!
Went to dinner with my father and kids. This was my first time here. Food was very good and our waitress was so nice and personable! Each of our dishes had so much flavor and the wings we got for an appetizer were delicious! The only suggestion I would make was for the dish I got. I got the chicken marsala and it was very good, the mushrooms were so so good but the chicken was a bit thick and rubbery. I think if they pounded out the chicken first, it would be much more tender. Other than that, all the other meals were great. Even their sauce was good and that's hard to find! We will definitely be back!
My husband and I dined here on Valentine's night, along with our two little kids. The food was great and the service excellent! (Good service is so rare these days!) They were very child-friendly too! The portions are of an extra-large size, so you'll have plenty to share and take home too. Overall, absolutely loved dining here, and would visit again soon!
I ordered take out last night from Valentes. It was my first time ordering from them....lived in the Capital Region all of my life and somehow missed this gem! The food was beyond our expectations and was absolutely delicious, exactly what true Italian food should be. I honestly cannot wait to enjoy their food again. I wish I could put 10 stars!
We got very close to closing on a weekday night. But we were welcomed treated great! The waiter, a guy in his early or mid 20s, was very courteous and prompt the entire time. I ordered the pasta with garlic and oil and it was terrific! Everything was excellent.
30 of us recently enjoyed a buffet-style banquet at Valentes that exceeded our expectations. Friends and family both enjoyed tasty food and attentive staff during our event. John was great to work with and very responsive as we worked together. From the great prices to the ease of the preparation of a big family event, I would highly recommend booking your event here!
Great food, very generous portions, good price.
Fairly large amount of tables. Food was excellent and portion sizes were very good for the price. Service was excellent and friendly and very quick even though we had a pretty large party.
I have been going here for years. I never had a bad experience until today. Five of us went for my birthday. My sister made a reservation for 4 but at the last minute a 5th joined us. We arrived and the place was empty. We advised the person who was seating guests that we had a reservation for 4 but now we had 5. He became very rude. Said we would have to wait because they would have to make up another table for us. Mind you there was 1 other couple who did not have a reservation and they were seated immediately. We we seated and ordered our food. The waitress was horrible. I have never had bad service there. Everyone is always friendly and attentive. My sister's meal came out about 10-15 minutes after everyone else's. Our to go order came out with the dine in order instead of at the end of the meal. The food was fantastic as always. I don't know what happened with the waitstaff.
Food was fantastic- I had the veal and peppers- my favorite dish - did not disappoint. My wife had the chicken Nadine- wonderfullly delicious and amazingly hugh- the sauce was delicious. Service was a bit slow but a pleasant relaxing experience. Only one wait person on duty. Quality of the food makes up for it. Drinks were the specials and were special. We will continue to keep Valente’s on our special “go to “ place.
Beautiful experience! Took my wife and two daughters to Valente’s before going to a symphony in Troy. We were met with a warm welcome and brought to our reserved table. At first the place was 30% full but soon filled to the max. We all had different types of meals, an appetizer and drinks. The food was amazing and the portions were incredibly large. We all took a box home to savor a second time. The service was impressive. Our waiter was spot on and always attentive and available. We were treated as warmly leaving as we were when we arrived. Highly recommend this restaurant for their Italian cuisine. We will be back and let all our friends and family know. They have been around since 1953 and I know why. Enjoy!
First time diners August ‘24. Waitstaff was excellent and the dinners outstanding! Bar: cocktail specials, beer, wine Menu:Italian/American. Selection of apps, salads, entrees (veal, beef (steak), chicken, seafood, pork chops, Burgers, and a kids menu. Let’s not forget a dessert menu! Last and just as importantly: a very affordable dining experience. We plan to enjoy Valente’s again and again
Had a veggie pizza 😋 very good. Love the old look of the place 😁
Old style decor. Love that the salad is included with the entrees. The entrees were huge!! Leftovers for sure. Fun seasonal drink list too. Good value for the dollar. Our waitress was very attentive.
Just a great experience from start to finish. Everyone working there is extremely friendly and accommodating. They were very busy but you’d never know it by how great the service was. Emery was our waiter and he’s one of the best waiters I’ve ever had. Just great at what he does, it is very much appreciated. I got chicken Parm and my Wife got the black and bleu steak salad, we got the potato skins for an appetizer. Everything was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious! We split the Tartufo for dessert and they split it evenly for convenience. Was excellent as well! This was our first time here and it has now been added to the top of our rotation. Highly recommend!!!
I would have given a four star because of our server (first one) we very confused, there was 12 of us and she wrote everything down, but screwed up our drink order. Then never came back and started waiting on a group that came in after us. Then Mel came to our table and took over like a champ. Everything from there on was great! Food was amazing. And Mel went out of her way to help us celebrate my sister's birthday.
Good food for lunch. Very large portions with fair prices.
Excellent veal parm and salad. Bartender quite attentive. Nice job guys
Our waitress was cute. I teased with her as she had asked if it was diet cola that I ordered.....I then said to her while I added my hand on my hip, and fluffed my hair..... are you insinuating in a nice way that I need to be on a diet? I think I threw her a curve at first... our first time there was very pleasant. For the rest of our meal we kidded around a little bit. I think her name is mel.. waitress # 24. Had a nice large antipasto, buffalo wings and fishfry and the best French fries. Awesome food menu.
This is my go to Italian restaurant, portions are huge, quality is always great. The prime rib is phenomenal! If it's a special order it you won't be disappointed . Atmosphere is really nice old school decor. Three little pigs is a delicious appetizer. Anything on the menu is delicious!
Amazing food, better service, and a great spot for a fancy night out with family and friends! Will definitely be returning
Great Italian food and large portions. We were passing through and stopped in and grabbed lunch to go, although they were allowing dining inside. I had the Lasagna ($12) and my friend had the meatball torpedo($7). Bothe were fantastic, the lasagna was stuffed with meat, cheese and sauce. The bread on the sub was awesome.
This was my Aunt Mary’s favorite restaurant in Albany (Watervliet). She would say, “if an Italian restaurant can’t make chicken parmigiana, don’t go back.” Well folks, the chicken parm is unreal. Huge portions with a secret breading that they will not divulge! The prices are fair and the staff is warm and welcoming. Family owned since 1958. This is how you run a restaurant for 65 years. I can’t say enough. Nice job guys.
We had a surprise birthday party for my dad. Everything was really good all around. Very happy the way the way the evening went!!! Thank you Char Beauparlant
Expensive but very well worth it. Make reservations on weekends! They also tend to attract an older crowd so you don't get deafening conversations and screaming toddlers most of the time. It's food and service are awesome. A real little treasure of an Italian bistro.
A fantastic place for Italian food! It’s busy and they are short staffed so be patient it’s worth it! I haven’t had a bad dish here so far.
My sister-in-law and her partner introduced us to this place. We went for dinner and we loved the atmosphere of the place. Very family-friendly. The serving was huge and food was absolutely delicious. The servers were also friendly. We love it so much that we went back the second time (and perhaps even the next). This is definitely a place where you could bring your whole family.
As a kid growing up in Troy Valente’s in Watervliet was a once or twice a year treat. It was 30 years since I rediscovered this local gem and just like I remembered it, the food was spectacular. I love everything about this local family owned place. The food, the old school charm of the dining room took me right back to my childhood. We drove down from Glens Falls and I will gladly make the trip going forward. Portions were well worth it and the red sauce is perfect. Our table had Chicken Parm, Eggplant Parm and Chicken Picatta we all tired each others meals and they were all fantastic. Thank you for being as great as I remember it back in the day!
If you’re searching for authentic Italian cuisine that delights every taste bud, look no further than Valente’s. I ordered takeout and was absolutely blown away- not only was the entire meal crafted with care, but the frog legs were a standout. Tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, they were a surprise gem among a flawless menu. The food isn’t just good- it’s unforgettable!-Bestselling Author Monolesia Williams
Great authentic Italian dinners! Generous portions and family-friendly. Always very busy on Friday nights. Go to the guys at the bar for take-out orders. Double check your order before you leave when they are busy. “Alla vostra salute”
Was able to check out this establishment at the recondition of a good friend who had been going here for his entire life.I can't speak highly enough of the quality of the food here,I think the best I've had outside of Italy. I had the chicken Francesca which was excellent with a wonderful cream sauce with artichokes and capers, sooo good. Calamari was also great, airy and light with a superb taste. Atmosphere was great too,can tell this has been an staple for generations. Service was pretty poor but it was super busy and we were able to get a table without a reservation, which I would recommend. I will definitely be back to try other items on their huge menu,my friend ordered the veal parm with cured ham and mozzarella and it was exquisite. Also they have frogs legs which is rare to see at an Italian restaurant so next time it will be surf and turf. Lastly the prices are extremely reasonable compared to other restaurants in the capital region.
A great Italian restaurant that has been around for over 60 years. I had two thick pork chops that were excellent. It came with a soup or salad plus two more sides plus bread was put on the table. HUGE portions reasonably priced. I highly recommend. Heather our waitress was very busy, but did a fine job. 6-13-24 This is my go to restaurant for the largest, most tender, tasty pork chops in the land. I counted 5 sides. Apple sauce, bread, salad, french fries, broccoli. Still the same huge portions. Very reasonably priced. I highly recommend
This was our second visit to this old-school, apparently family run Italian place. Decor is simple wood-toned formica topped tables and booths, kind of old and a bit worn, kind of cramped. That said, the place was packed. We were able to be immediately seated but there were only two tables available...on a Wednesday evening past prime time. Our server, Danielle, was warm, friendly, knew the menu and was just the right amount of attentive, Food was outstanding. The pizza we had last time was like we would make at home, only better. A small sheet pan with fresh dough, tasty sauce and plenty of cheese, it oozed quality and care. Tonight's tortellini in tomato cream sauce was equally good. Oversized cheese tortellini, cooked just right, in a freshly made, very flavorful sauce. Delicious. The pièce de resistance was dessert. I don't usually get dessert but Danielle had me at homemade butterscotch cheesecake. She said that the owner's sister makes it and the flavors rotate regularly. It was a bit pricey but really excellent, worth every penny. See the photo. Great food in a homey environment. We'll be back.
If you happen to be upstate or in Albany, NY you MUST come here! We took my dad here for his Birthday dinner this past weekend because he says they have the BEST Veal Parmesan. (I personally do not eat veal but he and my brother do.) As he said the Veal Parm is the BEST!!! The portions are HUGE and the food is excellent. Our server Jack was very attentive. Meals come with a choice of soup or salad and they bring fresh hot bread! LUV that! Great place! They have been around for many many years so they know what they are doing! 😊🍝
An Olde School Neighborhood Spot with a Ton of Yankee Memorabilia and that is after a terrible fire that gutted the place, but stalwart as always, there is still a ton there new and after the rebuild. The Italian-American Fare is excellent, generous with a fair price tab. Drinks are ample and the service is phenomenal and right neighborly. You cannot go there and not feel at home no matter your upbringing or status. A gem in Watervliet and the Capital District worthy of your attention!!
Excellent food as usual with enormous portions. Unfortunately, the restaurant was severely understaffed. Had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time to get our table, and our waiter was being run ragged. Hopefully, this is just a temporary problem. The food is so good that I can easily overlook the staffing problem. Will definitely be back.
Recent dinner with friends was very good once again. This is the 4th for 5th time dining there either in a small party or at an event. The food is consistently good. The portions are generous although the fries with my burger deluxe were a little sparse this time. The service is overall friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back.
Their food was fantastic and their service was okay. Overall a 4 Star experience. Their Steak Gorgonzola was amazing. What an amazing blend of cheese and avocado reduction sauce slathered on the plate. The Large Antipasto was very good, everything was fresh and plated well. We ordered a side of Shrimp Scampi. They were huge and they were cooked very well with a butter, lemon, and black olive sauce. Wow! We poured the remainder of the butter sauce over our broccoli. We had a great time! With two waters and an extra soup and previously mentioned order, our $40 groupon paid all but $7.00 and some change. We tipped according to the whole bill. Not too bad! We will be back. Hats off to the chef!
My steak was delicious, better than any of the local steak houses. Service was good but the waiter seemed to be a little rude, maybe he was just having a bad day. He waited on me before and was always very good.
Good place usually. Waiter was civil enough but did bare minimum. "Clams Jack" excellent today but sandwiches were unnecessarily charred.
One of the best dirty martinis locally!!... that's saying a lot. Lasagna was very good and huge portion. On the way out we left our debit card. Didn't realize until 2 days later. They kept it safe and I got it back with no problems.
First time there, came at the end of dinner rush. Not a long wait for service. Hot thotty was made perfectly. All the staff was courteous and patient and helpful. Clean, great food soft bread and cozy environment. Look forward to eating there again in the future. A Great experience perfect location handicap accessible. Old school chat and break bread restaurant not to many outlets in the dining area.
It is just ok. The prices are to high for quality and for their services. They have great pasta, I liked it from first taste. I liked their appetizer, their garlic bread is better than pizza. Because I am father I need to finish food for my wife and kids so, I expected more from their pizza. The Caesar salad is not like real Caesar salad (chicken was prepared long before the salad, and just heated before to be used in salad, I don't know how long it stayed in kitchen because then they brought to me croutons were soft.)
The food was wonderful. The waiter Jack was terrific. He was waiting all of the tables by himself and he still got everything right. They were short staffed and after we went in, they hung a hand written sign on the door that due to staffing, they were no longer seating people. We were told it was going to be a 45 minute wait. There were A LOT of empty tables and they could have offered for us to sit down to wait. There really isn't a waiting area. We had full view of the bar and the bartender with the backwards Michigan hat WAS DRINKING ALCOHOL with his buddies. He placed a drink in front of one of them and he would drink it. He was also doing shots with them. I would definitely go back for the food, but being short staffed seemed to send everything into chaos. The three men working were just tripping over each other. Yes, being short staffed is difficult, but remaining calm is important. I watched the bar tender run all over the place, but I am not sure what he was truly doing other than looking busy.
We come down from Ballston often to visit the Renns. Manor and stopped at Valente's twice in 2 weeks. We enjoyed the food. What stuck in my craw was when we were wrapping the leftover linguini and clam sauce (which was a little dry to begin with) we asked if they could give us another spoonful of sauce on top. The busser came back saying the chef said there would be an upcharge. Really? For a scoop of sauce? Let me state that they are not exactly giving the stuff away. The price was hefty enough. I would think it might be under the category of customer relations -you know, keeping us happy. There are quite a number of Italian restaurants between Rennselaer and Ballston. I think it's likely we could find one that would happily give us a scoop of sauce. Especially after we paid $12 for 3 cups of coffee. And, perhaps one that doesn't Pollute the Italian menu with Moronic mac & cheese.
My meal was delicious, but I ordered stuffed shells with meatballs, and there were four small stuffed shells and two meatballs larger than baseballs on the plate. It was more of a "meatballs with a side of stuffed shells" type of thing. It was $18 for the stuffed shells and $3 for the two gigantic meatballs. Without the meatballs, it would have just been the four small stuffed shells for $18, which definitely would not have been worth it. It also seemed to be a slow night but the service was very slow.
We arrived on time for our 5 pm reservation, which they apparently lost. After a 10 minute wait while they rearranged table, we were seated. It took an hour to get our food, and while we were waiting no server checked on us. We had to wolf it down in 15 minutes because we had an event to attend. The food was excellent, and the portions were huge. My meal ended up being 3 feedings. I would give this place a second chance.
This place was recommended to me, and I was excited to try it. I wasn't happy with the price of the appetizer, the jumbo shrimp cocktail, which featured 5 average shrimp for $16. The salad I ordered came without dressing, and the chicken was fried a little too hard. I was told that the place went down since they were there the last time. I did have some of my friends chicken Alfredo and did like the sauce and pasta. The chicken could have been sliced up a little more. Overall, I appreciate it being a family owned business and would give them another try.
Food was overpriced was quality level. Got a veal parmigiana more breading than actual meat. Girlfriend got a Alfredo pasta, was too salty. Service was great
I was there tonight with my friend. Not busy, got there at 5 pm. Ordered. Soup came out hot. Wait, wait wait for meals. I ordered extra sauce because that is how I like it. Meals come out, no extra sauce. I am eating dry ( in my opinion) dry sauce. The waitress comes over and I ask again for my extra sauce. Does not even ask if we need more water. My glass is empty. Finally get the sauce, then notice there is a TON of pasta but where is the calamari? Not in my dish. I have been going here for years. Had many parties here. Sorry, will not be back. Thanks for the extra drink though
the food was good but the waitress took our order then ignored us for two hours. Finally we complained and she stared at us ran off saying she'll check the kitchen order... except for the food and the nice bus boys who helped it's not a place to eat at anymore. No greeting, no personality from any of the wait staff and no commutation skills at all. My days of eating there are over.
Food is always very good. Service is lacking. We waited approximately 1 hour for our food. This was a Wednesday night. No apologies for the delay. When we asked when the food was coming out we were told in 5 minutes. It was an additional 20 minutes. When we asked for a booth, we were told it was reserved,, but no one ever sat there. It felt like they didn't even care if you were there. On a previous occasion, with a reservation, we sat there for 20 minutes and no one ever came over even after trying to summon them. We finally walked out. It's not worth the aggravation as good as the food is.
Not sure about customer service at the bar. Sat 15 minutes before having to ask for a drink. Never offered a food menu. Bar tender was unprofessional, swearing, not paying attention to customers wanting to order. Have not had this experience here before. The food is very good & portions large. Because of the service & atmosphere I will not recommend or return for a while. Perhaps this was an off night.
Only complaint I have is asked for I small amount of marinara sauce because there was only a tablespoon of it with my calzone, mgr, said they would have to charge me extra , been eating here for ever ,never again, not goin back too many options ...
Sat at a table with my date. I had wine from the bar since I arrived early, he had no drink. We sat for 25 minutes before I went to the bar and asked to be helped. 2 servers walked by us over and over again and never even looked at us, let alone spoke to us. Then after 6 more minutes we were greeted, with no apology or even acknowledgement of the poor service. Order was taken and when food arrived It tasted amazing but that didn’t make us feel better about our choice in where to go on our first date. Now that experience is tainted cause we were so annoyed. I myself am a server so I can say that I was appalled at the service we received. Side note. If it had been overly busy I would have understood better. But it was not that busy. Very dissatisfied. Won’t return or recommend.
It took two hours to get our food. It was good but there are many very good Italian restaurants where the service is exceptional. We felt like we were invisible, the waitress didn't come over to see if we wanted more drinks or offer an explanation for the wait. We asked for more bread and didn't get that either. We won't be back.
It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. I've been coming to Valente's for almost 40 years, and I always liked the food; I've even bought Valente's spaghetti sauce in the supermarket. Unfortunately, the restaurant never successfully transitioned to the takeout/delivery model necessitated by the pandemic. I ordered delivery three or four times over the past year; every time, we had a problem. The food was outrageously late, items were missing, etc. One time we ended up canceling the order altogether because our guests were leaving, and the order was still not here after numerous phone calls and assurances. This last time, though, broke the camel's back. I decided to bypass the delivery [non-]service and pick up the order myself. I called it in and drove over within the promised pickup window. It was well before the dinner rush, only a few tables were occupied, and only a few folks were at the bar. I announced myself and was told to wait. I waited for over 20 minutes, way past the promised time. The order finally arrived, three dinners plus an appetizer and an extra side. I paid for it and left. When I got home and unpacked the order, I found that it was missing ALL the side dishes and all the extras. No salads, no spaghetti, no extra side dish. Just three entrees and bread. I immediately called to report the situation. The person on the phone apologized and said they'd deliver it in 20 minutes or less. I said that'd be fine. After waiting for 25 minutes, I called again. It was as though nothing has ever transpired; I was asked if I wanted to come and get it. I said that it was way too late for that and that all I wanted by that point was a refund. The person on the phone said I would have to call back later and talk to "Sebastian." Apparently, there was nobody around to take action on this situation. I called later and talked to Sebastian, who offered no apology and made no attempt to "make things right" for ruining our dinner. He promised me that the credit for the missing items - and only the missing items, pro-rated to the cost of the dinners, would be processed "tomorrow." I am still waiting. This is not the behavior of a place that wants its customers. So I guess I will never order from them again.
The beer was cold and the bread was good, although the butter was frozen. Eggplant Parmigiana was a 3” stack of mush! cold inside. Tortellini/tomato basil sauce was lukewarm and okay at best. Burger was ordered medium and came out rare. Brought my Groupon and was told they are not accepting that now. Never again. Waste of time and money, Ended up at another restaurant.
The food is great, if you can get it. I've had multiple bad experiences with this restaurant. From missing items, to my money literally being stolen by the delivery driver. This place has the worst customer service I've ever seen. Not because of the bad moments itself, but the consistency of these bad moments. All too often do we get the wrong order or dont even get the order. Just today we had an order that was said to take 30 minutes, and turned out to be 2 hours because they didn't even see our order.
During a recent visit to Valentes we were disappointed. We arrived at 5:25 and were seated at a table in a very crowded area of the restaurant. Meanwhile, an entire dining room stood empty. It was difficult to hear yourself think. Our drink order was taken and delivered fairly quickly but then we sat for 30 minutes waiting to order our dinner. No bread came until we ordered and got our salads. The noise level was amazing and the space between the tables was ridiculous. On a positive note, the food was good.
Staff is very nonchalant with seating and service. They brought us bread with no butter, we sat for over 10 minutes before the waitress even acknowledged us. To top it off not one IPA on the beer list. We ordered calamari and mussels. The mussels were great but the calamari was severely overcooked. Our main dishes came. My wife liked hers. My pasta was perfect however the rubbery chicken was the nail in the coffin. Not a place worth going back to.
We must have been there on an off day. We went for lunch yesterday. We were told to sit anywhere. (We made reservations) After 1/2 hour the waitress came and gave us menus and silverware. After another 20 minutes she came and took our drink order. 15 minutes later she came with our drinks. She got the order wrong. She came back 15 minutes later and took our food order. 20 minutes later she delivered out food order. I asked if salad came with the meal.? She asked what kind of dressing we wanted. Half way through the entrees she delivered our salads. I asked if they had bread. She said “certainly”! (Seemed to be her favorite word!). Just as we were getting up to leave, she delivered our bread. I asked for water in the beginning, and four or five times after that. I finally had to go up to the bar to request it! The service was so bad, that it was comical! I thought that we were on “Candid Camera”!
Absolutely terrible! I ordered chicken Parmesan for my daughter’s birthday as takeout, when we started eating it hers sounded crunchy, found out she was crunching on glass, she spit it out and we contacted the restaurant, we brought the food back to them with the pieces of glass ww were treated very rudely and accused of putting the glass in there. Worst experience in a restaurant ever! Would never eat at this restaurant again. I explained to the manager what kind of sense does it make to bring the food back that we just spent $30 on. Eat here at your own risk.
Where do I start 1. Had reservations large party were given away to another large party that didn't have reservations.2.waited 1 hour to be seated . Had 1 waitress for table, drinks took forever.apps were ordered not too bad even though some people didn't receive there's till dinner. Now for the big problem keep in mind 25-27 people 2 people never received there dinners till everyone was done (what a freaken joke) The way I see it was an experience I will never forgot oh yeah $40 was taken off the check WOW could have been a yearly party but doubt that will happen
Sadly to say I should’ve read reviews for this place before going to eat at it😞 It was such a disappointment! Don’t know why I didn’t leave before the meal came. But, it taught me a lesson for sure! May grandson ordered an appetizer of Calamari, which turned out to be over fried batter bits😡 there was no Calamari in this at all. Told the waitress Than rude Manager came to table with an attitude, and said oh, I’ll take half of your bill. Before I could say anything else he left. An hour later the food came🥵. After seeing the Grille cheese that my granddaughter ordered, we only stayed a little longer because we were waiting for the waitress to come back to table. The grilled cheese was basically warmed up bread that was over buttered, with slice of cheese slapped in between was ridiculous!! Not a GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH! OMG. Will never be back there for sure!! The waitress was very pleasant and nice though plus the bus boy. Everything else sucked! Even the atmosphere !! I feel sorry for the people that work there!!!
We ordered takeout and were told the food would be ready at 5:00. At 5:45, I was handed my food. I don't think they started cooking until I arrived. My steak was well done, even though I ordered medium rare. Usually, the food is good when we dine in. We were very disappointed.
Absolute worst restaurant experience I've ever had. The waitress (the owner)was very absent minded, couldn't even take drink orders correctly, spilled water on us 2 separate times. We asked for bread multiple times and it came out AFTER our meals. Our drinks were empty for a long period of time and I had to go to the bar to ask for service. She charged us for another party's bill that was over $300..we told her it was the wrong bill and then it took her forever to "fix" it... she came back with a bill that was still incorrect. She took our cash and charged someone's credit card without fixing the bill...Overcharged her credit card based on the 1st bill she had given us at $108... refused to give us our money back to fix the payment. I had to tell her I was going to call the police if she didn't. She ended up only refunding the overcharged credit card and telling us that was fine and we could go. I don't understand how THAT many issues could happen at one dinner service.
The food is delicious and the portion size is large for the price. The issue I had is, we called in or order and upon pickup, the order couldn't be found. The man behind the bar, said he was too busy to look for the order and then asked me to move away from the bar so that people could sit at the bar. Just because we weren't being served at the restaurant, doesn't mean we weren't paying customers. This isn't the way to treat paying customers!
Food was very good except no bread until the end when we had to ask for bread. Was told that we could split checks up which the server did. I got my check was bill for 30 dollar and change. When the server charged my card it was charged for 69 and change. I told serve incorrect since I only order pasta with meatballs and a soda. The server said he would refund me the 69. Which never happened since never came off my card. Then the server said he just charge me 20 and change. I called twice spoke to management and told someone would look into this. Also sent an email. No response from this company .
Question 1 I didn't get to dine in cause the waitress never came over to greet us no waters no drinks no service for more them 10 minutes , wait wait wait to just leave HANGRY ! QUESTION 2 WHAT DID YOU EAT , ABOUSTLY NOTHING , cause of no service to help us at ALL! VERY disappointed cause my daughter loves the chicken parm for her birthday dinner she looks forward to every year , hopefully next birthday i will get a waitress or waiter or staff to take care of us
We used to live in Watervliet and this was one of our favorite restaurants. The food and service was always fantastic! WAS... Last night we were in the area so we stopped in for our favorite, Veal Julian. We haven't had it in years and were really looking forward to it. We were immediately seated but with no menus. We sat for at least 6 or 7 minutes before the person who seated us peeked around the corner and walked away. I made eye contact with him so I assumed he realized he forgot about us and would be right back with our menus. Another 2 or 3 minutes passed before another couple rounded the bend and sat in the booth across from us. Within a minute the person who seated us came to THEIR table with menus... I said "excuse me but can we have some menus?" and with that he took THEIR menus and placed them on our table and finally asked for our drink order, which was a seltzer with lemon & lime, a ginger ale, and a glass of water with lemon. The waiter came back with two more menus and when the other table said they didn't need to see a menu he turned to us and said "you can take these menus as well since they don't need them" and walked away! was he trying to be funny...? The waiter finally returned with my seltzer (but only with a lime), and two glasses of water, all with melted ice and no lemon or ginger ale. I though perhaps he didn't have room on the tray and would be right back with the soda but it didn't come. I suggested at this point we leave but my husband wanted to stay because the meal would be worth it. The waiter returned for our food order, which was an appetizer, and of course the veal Julian. He asked what kind of pasta and dressing for our salads. Okay, it is starting to look up, but still the soda hasn't come and no house bread, although butter sat on the table. And other tables had bread.. Honestly I thought my husband had forgotten about the soda so I didn't say anything but he finally asked the busboy for his ginger ale. The waiter brought it over without an apology. Quite a bit of time passed and finally the appetizer came but we haven't gotten the salads yet, which is a little odd. Maybe the salad comes after the appetizer? Well when we were finished with the appetizer, out came the entrees. So I guess we're not getting salad either. While I am not the type of person to never leave a tip, I was very much tempted. I assumed the wait staff splits tips so I reluctantly left one. However, the tip would have been much much more had we gotten, at the very least, average service. Below average is a compliment for what we got. To the owner, we will never go out of our way to visit your establishment again. It was truly a shameful experience and if it wasn't for the meal being delishous I wouldn't even have given 1 star. Based on some other reviews my husband read last night you really should be ashamed that you haven't educated your staff on proper customer service. You can forgive messing up a little but when there is no lemon, no ginger ale, no bread, no salad, and no apologies you're looking at a very bad waiter.
Well I sued to enjoy and evening at Valente's Restaurant. I just went there after a community concert and online Google stated that they were open, the sign in the window said it was open to 11 same as Google…. When I walked into the restaurant there was a bar full of people at 9:15pm. A gentleman to came over to us and said they were closed at 9. I thought that was odd and when I questioned why Google had a conflicting time he said they have a new website and the hours are changed on that… Now I knew about the website because the last time I was there he was telling patrons at the bar about this new website and how he was going to do better than the last person who ran the marketing of the restaurant…. I’m paraphrasing because this conversation that was loud enough for the whole place to hear there was no like 25 4 letter F words about these coworkers. Bottomline, it’s not cheap to eat out in Albany, and it cost a little extra to est at family own restaurants, but as a small business owner myself I know the struggles, and I also know that calling Google and changing a sign in the window, and Facebook are something you can do, that takes less time then someone wasting your time to come to your restaurant only to be turned away. I feel that want your money but they don’t want to put forth the effort. .
Waiter who was the manager was awful and rude. Walked away three times when we wanted to order pretending he didn't hear us . Finally gave order to another employee then he came backed and said we could not give her the order. Told him to get the order from her as she wrote it down but he refused and made us order again. Seated at seven got food after 8 . He should be fired. Won't be ing back to Valente for sure. Terrible experience . Refused to give us contact info for the owners. Buyer beware!!
Definitely an unwelcome feeling , especially if you’re African American. I came in to get my food and I was ignored the whole time . If I knew this is how they treated people I wouldn’t have wasted my money .
I NEVER leave reviews but my experience with Valente’s has warranted one for sure. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken and a BLT totaling 39.15. Around 25$ for the Alfredo and 12$ for the BLT. I ordered pickup and I walked into the restaurant and was greeted by no one. There was a guy in front of me who was greeted and was helped by one of the waiters which it was safe to say they knew each other. After he got his food and left I figured I was next, nope. Waiters and waitresses passing by and making eye contact with me but not a single word from them. I was in direct view of the bar as It’s right there when you walk in and he didn’t even bother. A older couple came in behind me and was immediately greeted by the bartender and asked them are up here for a table or a seat at the bar, a waitress was ready with menus almost instantly. I’m still standing here waiting to even have a word spoken to me. I have to walk up to the bar and ask the bartender where do I go for pickup orders. He told me oh he’s checking on it … Wow to my surprise because how would I have known? I wait for my order and go home. The food was just ok. Nothing special. The chicken in my Alfredo made me laugh as it was definitely 3 hunks of boiled chicken just thrown on top. The Alfredo itself was decent, not awful, but for 25 dollars at least put some seasoning and cut the chicken up. The BLT was a basic BLT, very small on plain ol white bread, just was expecting a little bit more but my boyfriend thought it wasn’t awful. Overall I will never be returning and have learned my lesson with this place. So unless you personally know someone that works there I would NOT recommend because I could go to Olive Garden and get way better service and food.
