Haven't been to Voss's since '06. I came here every year as a child with my parents. Nothing has changed, which is perfect. The food is exactly how I remembered!! Highly recommend to anyone who is in the area, stop in, get a shake, a chilli dog or hamburger. Definitely worth it.

Love this place. Seasonal walk-up joint that offers your typical American foods. Cash only and they have an ATM if you need it. I have yet to find something I don't like on their menu. Love their shakes and sundaes.

The BBQ beef sandwich is my favorite! Their BBQ sauce is so delicious and unlike any other! If you haven't tried it yet, you have to get there. It'll delight your tastebuds!

This is so much more then a hot dog and ice cream stand. The burgers and fries are so yummy, the thick chocolate milkshake is a must for my whole family every time we stop. The chili cheese dog is grilled and topped with their own meat sauce, so good! If you are near Utica, it is worth a stop!

Fantastic. Worth the wait. With this amount of customers, and ALWAYS being busy, the employees do a great job getting your food to you as fast as possible and without error. Must be just non-stop for them. I'm sure it's not easy.

This place is a local Gold Mine with a long history. Good Food! A summertime tradition of iconic stature. I try to stop here when ever I pass through the area. "If" there is a criticism? It would be that the parking lot is always full and the line is always long. But.... blame it on the Ham BBQ's! ☺

I purchased a hot dog, a chili dog, a bbq ham sandwich, and macaroni salad. I must say everything was amazing especially the hot dogs and I am definitely full! I will definitely be going back! Highly recommended!!!!

This is the best place to go when the weather is nice. Long line to get food but it's really good food. They have home made ice cream too. And the chili dogs are heaven!

The best vintage cooking in Oneida County. The hamburgers and pork bbq's are the bomb. Great Ice Cream menu . This is a great family dining out option where you get a bang for your buck.

Been there several times last year cannot wait for them to reopen in the spring. Food is always fresh hot and delicious. And prices AR very reasonable.

Tl;dr: Voss is always great, quality is just as high as ever, bit of a wait for your food but worth it. Voss is always a treat. It's a little windy outside today but worth the wait. I ordered a chili cheeseburger and fries with a strawberry shake which were all great. We also ordered a hot dog and hamburger which were both good. If you've been here before, the quality hasn't changed, it's still as good as ever. If you haven't been before, it's definitely a nice place to get lunch/dinner and ice cream, just be prepared to wait a little while since the lines are always long and they cook to order. They got new plastic tables so there's nowhere to write your name like the old wooden ones; I was surprised to find I was a little sad about that. They still only accept cash but there's an ATM. Tax is included in the menu price which I find to be a convenience in ordering.

Love this place! They are usually really busy, but this day the line moved pretty quickly. They only take cash, no cards. And the spot (gas station) across the street has 32oz soft drinks for $1. My fav order is the Mex Dog. It comes with chilly, cheese, and onions on a grilled bun. Amazing!

Great little hot dog stand they had delicious hamburgers me and my girlfriend got seconds we also got chili dogs which were pretty good too and then we split fries crinkle cuts fries. (Cash only)

It’s doesn’t get any better than their ham bbq with sauce. Perhaps a crispy hotdog and some fries to complement that. You know it’s summer in Utica when they are open for business.

Vass has been a community favorite for years ❤️, and hopefully for years to come. They are a family owned walk up just like the first McDonald's. They offer a good variety of food at great prices. They are cash only, but local ATMs are available. They have seasonal closings so some of the year they are not available, but when they are you can't beat their lunch. Enjoy.

Fun spot for a little summer BBQ. Good prices and good food. Burgers, yummy grilled cheese, and chili, too. There's ice cream, too! There's plenty of parking, and usually enough seating. It can get busy at times, but that's a good sign. Definitely a local favorite in the area, as it has been around for generations!

I went there a few days ago and i must say vary happy. A litte of a wait but well worth it.

I so wish I had taken a picture 😕 The food here is amazing! Mind you all I've ever ordered is the hotdogs with mustard, relish and ketchup on a buttered and grilled bun. Oh my gosh so good!! My hubby always gets the bbq pork and beef sandwiches smothered in sauce along with FF. Chocolate milk and a shake to top it all off. This is an all outdoor eating place and they have plenty of seats. You won't be disappointed 🤗

Voss has the best hot dogs in CNY in my opinion. It's the buttered, grilled New England roll that makes them. We try to get there at least once or twice a year. Window walk up for orders and eat in vehicle or at one of the picnic tables outside.

Very nice spot conveniently located on a somewhat busy strip that I drive past regularly. I personally have only had hot dogs from there, and they were absolutely delicious! They have plenty of options though, and from what I've heard and by their reputation, everything else must be good. I even ordered some of their meat sauce to go and put it in the freezer to use on my own hot dogs at home. Highly recommended!

I love this little local hotspot! BBQ ham and Mexican chili dog are my favorites. The restaurant is clean and service is very fast for a relatively large crowd. This is a must see/eat of you are in the area!

Great place to grab a couple of hotdogs or hamburgers for a decent price. A few different combinations also. Have to time it right though. Waited in line for 20+ min to give my order. Would do it again though.

Simplicity at its finest. Simple burgers and hotdogs, but they're great. A local favorite and hotspot. This location is open seasonally, but if I'm not mistaken the Voss located at the Utica Zoo is open year round.

Hotdogs, burgers, sausage patties cooked to order with the typical sides accompaniments. You have to ask for every topping, so when you order burger ask for the lettuce, tomato and whatever else you want. It usually take a few minutes to place your order and about 10 minutes to get your food.

Have loved this place for YEARS! Shame their prices have really rocketed! Realize food prices have gone way up .. but they're out of control!!

The Mexican burger and macaroni salad were great. French fries are frozen not fresh potatoes. The burgers and hot dogs are very small.

It's Voss', you get the chili dog and a ham BBQ. It'd be nice if they went back to Honest John's hot dogs, otherwise the chili dogs taste likecthey always have even if the price gets higher and higher all the time. Buy a pint of chili and take it home to make your own chili dogs.

The excellent rating is for the hot ham sandwich. I live in So California since 85 and I constantly crave that sandwich. I wish, because East Utica French fries are awesome, they went to fresh cut fries cooked in vegie oil. Their fries just don't cut it.

Meh, really nothing to write home about. Nothing stnds out except the trip back in time to a roadside food stand. Like the old 50s stands, there are only picnic tables with umbrellas, no shade. Menu choices are about the same, hot dogs, burgers, fries, ice cream. Portions are small 50s style with 2024 prices. Nothing here that you can't get down the road in less time.

The food is always consistent. Good flavor, fries are crispy even after driving home. The burgers could be a little bigger, as my kids tell me. The steak sandwich was not my favorite. Overall it was good.

So it's rare that I really give a full 5 star to a business that doesn't really blow it out of the water. Voss is so close. Food was fantastic, came out hot and the order was correct and it was slammed. I would highly recommend them to friends and family. The only thing I didn't like was the to go order while it was packed quite well was very messy inside the paper. It made it hard to eat on the go.

This place is ok. Definitley not great anymore. Years ago they had super cheap food. Now its priced too high and its not real bbq. Putting bbq sauce on deli meat on a freighofers hamburger role is not bbq. When those sandwiches were $2 it was great because thats all its worth, now I would skip it. The fries are still good and I love the birch beer. Just not as good as it was 10 years ago.... Edit 2024 season: I raise my rating to 4 stars because even though this is not cheap like before, its on par with other fast food establishments... they also have an option for Zweigles hot dogs now which are fantastic. I had 3 chili dogs this summer and they are damn good.... I still miss the old prices, I usually spend $14 for lunch, thats 1 chili dog, 1 ham bbq, one small fry and a medium birch beer. Expensive for sure but I feel the quality is back.

I give it 4 stars on food because it still taste good. However the the chili dogs and bbq ham sandwich, even still delicious, I believe, have gotten smaller over the years. The service was good and the atmosphere is ok. (You can car and people watch)

I miss the old hot dogs that used to have Honest John the newer ones I don't care for love the french fries when they cook them sometimes they're not moving the basket around enough to cook the top and you get raw french fries

It was raining, so no lines as usual, but the customer service was very poor this time and though we got our food in a minute or two it was obviously not fresh and they were not hot. This time, poor.

I really don't see what all the hubbub is about with this food joint with it being packed all the time. The food is OK, but nothing amazing. I'm not fast food kind of guy, but I stopped there one day on my way home from work to get a quick bite to eat because I was too hungry to wait till I got home. Just like always the parking lot was packed, So I parked out back of the used car lot next door to order some food. I came back, and there was a $35 parking ticket on my car by the Yorkville police, but there weren't any no parking signs to be found where my car had been ticketed. Not to mention the fact that my fries had an uncooked frozen French fry mixed in with them, and my burger was missing what I asked for on it. This experience sealed the deal with me of ever going to Voss's again.

Not bad...but not good either! The BBQ sandwiches are small, and they charge $4.25!! It's not even true BBQ...it's just oven cooked pork, thrown into a water filled container (until they're put on a cheap hamburger bun) If it's true BBQ...the meat should be smoked over hardwood (or hickory) which it isn't, because this place doesn't even have a smoker/barbecuer! The BBQ sauce tastes decent, but this is NOT true BBQ! However, the hotdogs are pretty good!

This place used to be great . Everyone knows prices go up but when you raise prices and lower the quality of food at the same time ???? I used to be a loyal customer for years first they somehow managed to get smaller hotdogs and now they’ve made the barbecues smaller all while raising the prices . If you wasn’t a good chilly dog go to Patio Drive in on Oriskany , your on your own for barbecues Banomo’s isn’t much better .

After reading these reviews we decided to try it out, my hot dog was good but the burgers were small and had no real flavor, my girlfriends pork sandwich was dry meat had no flavor. Won't go back.

Our order was all wrong… forgot the onions, the plain burger came with mustard, rolls are not fresh and burgers were dry. We eat here often and this experience was a bad one.

Not sure what happened to the quality of your food but it’s declined from previous years. The size of the burgers, steak sandwiches and BBQs are so small now. When we got the food it was all messy and just thrown together. The ham BBQ had very little BBQ sauce on it and no taste. Fries were just warm not hot or crispy. My son’s chili dog was so messy it fell all over the place. It wasn’t busy that day so maybe just was a bad one? Who knows but very disappointed

Well the sandwiches are a dollar more this year and about a third less meat, way to gouge the customer! The main reason for my review is the estimate $4 for a milkshake and I got warm chocolate milk. Pretty much the most disgusting thing I've ever gotten with a meal, if you really want to gouge the customer, just charge you $6 for a milkshake and make a real one. I can't believe you served me that. I was dying for a real milkshake. But you got to spend a buck 50 more to get a milkshake or else you get chocolate milk. There is nowhere to go there is an honest place to eat anymore. Never again, I mean really you're waiting in line for bottled cheap barbecue sauce on mystery meat and a dollar store roll wow

Not that impressed. The "white hot" sausage was decent but nothing I would travel back for. The restaurant is located on a very busy road with only outdoor seating. It's loud and not that relaxing. The restaurant is worth a stop if you have never been; if for nothing else to say you've stopped.

They wouldn't do a kids size ice cream with chocolate syrup :( they said it has to be a small because chocolate syrup makes it a sundae (no the whipped cream and cherries and nuts make it a sundae) and what 3 year old needs a small size ice cream, so we left and went to Nicky Doodles.

Sadly I had to change my review after recently going to voss's BBQ their food unfortunately has gone way down hill in my opinion I don't know what's going on but I wish they would get with the plan!! UPDATE! I recently went there to help Ave a couple chili dogs and unfortunately they can were very awful they tasted like they c were sitting on the grill for hour's?! I won't be going there anymore!!

So for the last past 6 to 7 years this place has slowly gone down hill. Today was my last straw I went there with the family we got grilled cheese, hot dog and some ham bbq. It was horrible salty buttery. Grilled cheese tough, ham bbq can’t even chew. Hot dog was small and like rubber with tough casing. The milkshakes are loaded up will so much fake syrup flavor it’s ridiculous. They take the milk out of milk shake. This place straight garbage dirty fecal matter slop

Ordered a burger with the works and an "extra thick" milkshake (the woman emphasized "extra thick") and they handed me a burger that was about 20% larger than a white castle slider and chocolate milk for a milkshake. McDonalds is a far better option. Even the ones the down the street that make you wait 40 minutes if it's past 11pm.

Lost my business. Their menu said they have chicken tenders, but when I asked for them they said they don't make them on Fridays cause they make fish instead. If you aren't gonna sell them (and I don't know why you wouldn't, I watched three people walk away without ordering cause you didn't have them) you should update your sign to say they aren't available on Fridays. Save people from waiting in line.

Seriously disappointed in the food they put out. Requested a pulled pork sandwich with bbq sauce on it…what I got I wouldn’t even touch! It looked absolutely NOTHING like a pulled pork sandwich. Ended up throwing it out and going elsewhere.
