The food here is excellent. They know how critical good beans and tortillas are to a Mexican meal. MONEY!

I love this spot for maybe silly reasons. Best bean and cheese burrito around. The beans are so flavorful. Stop messing around with Nessy Burger and drive in just 5 minutes further W on the 76.

I’m new to this area & decided to give this place a try today. I had the carne asada torta & it was delicious 😋!! Service was great, fast & the meat was full of flavor & soft. I will be returning to try other items from the menu!!

My family and I moved to Bonsall earlier in the year and decided to try Cortez since it was right around the corner. I love going in here to place my orders because the staff is always beyond friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious and reasonably priced - my favorite, right now, is the carne asade plate with the corn tortillas, but the nachos are also pretty awesome!!

Cortez Mexican Food is our favorite spot to go for burritos and rolled tacos. Their potato egg and cheese burrito is the best I've had in years. Quality and service is also consistent and top notch. Highly recommend trying them out, we'll be back without a doubt.

I always throw them off because I order a CA burrito with “no meat.” The first time I did this I literally got a burrito with French fries, guac and cheese, lol. Now I’m very specific about substituting meat for beans, but it’s my favorite local burrito!

The best taco shop in the area. The food is decent and the atmosphere is plain. It won't match what you can find in better hole-in-the-wall places throughout San Diego. But there's nothing better for grabbing a quick burrito in this area. It also has a pretty solid arcade lineup, with 5-6 cabinets and some quarter toy/candy machines.

It's ok not too bad order a bunch of fish tacos and took two bites of it and couldnt find the fish, all veggies. Finally at the third bite found the fish. It's was ok I think they should review their portions. Maybe it was a one time deal just as an advice consistency would help out.

Food was great! Large portions, very tasty and homemade quality. The restaurant itself was clean but could use a little upgrade. Staff was pleasant and customer service oriented.

Good food reasonably priced. Service is very friendly. Wish the aesthetics were a bit more pleasant but it's clean and the food more than makes up for it.

Stopped by and got the carne asada fries I love the portion meat wasn't burnt or over cooked and they re generous with the guac My complain is that fires are tasteless and they re literally the cheapest thing you can buy on the market definitely a 7.5/10 no more on the good side you can see where they cook the food and it seems clean enough to me the dining room is clean as well the tables outside were clean even tho it was a rainy day and they have a waiting area for togo orders that can sit around 8 people also you can get free green/red salsa I ve seen some places charge for it overall 3.8 stars

I had looked at reviews and they gave it high marks for the food quality and medium to okay on the place and atmosphere. The food was okay, I ordered jalapenos with cheese..but it came rolled in tortilla and wasn't quite cooked and the stem was still on the pepper. The beef enchilada was okay, but the sauce was too much and became gooey mess. The owner/server was nice, friendly and spoke English and Spanish. I don't think I'll go back. For an area so close to Mexico and San Diego, I expected more athentic tasting food.

This place a decent they make a great carne asada burrito but the salsa here!!! I don’t know why they won’t change it up! With a good salsa you can make anything taste amazing. I have told them this and they just shrug it off but they need to try new salsa theirs just taste like. Chili and water 🚿

Food is average. No better than any Albertos. Not great, not too bad. Average. Bathroom hand dryer barely works, blows cold air. Horchata drink tasted pasty and watered down. I let them know, and they said it tasted fine. Not worth 4.85$ at all. Their taste buds need an upgrade, or they lied to me. Get a soft drink Instead. But there's no refills here. They give you a canned coke. If you land here, its not bad, but its not very good either 😕. 11.00 + tax for 5 rolled tacos. Too pricey for low quality food.

I two starred this place only because of the bad service I was given. I asked for a chicken fajitas burrito with no rice or beans because of my special diet and the guy at the cash register didn't pass that information on to the cook. Hence the cook prepared a normal fajitas burrito that did include the beans and rice. When I informed the cashier about the error he said oh well he already made it and refused to remake the burrito or give me my money back. I had to carefully dissect my food to eat only the stuff that didn't have been and rice, as a result a lot of my food went to waste.

I don't see how the previous reviews can be legit. The food was bland with the hardest taco shell I've ever had. The guac was actually runny. The guy behind the counter was distinctly bovine. The trash was overflowing and smelly and the bathroom was atrocious. We won't be back.

I am not sure if they had an off night because ordered from here last night and the food was so nasty. I couldn’t even eat my food. The carne asada was flavorless and hard. The carnitas was chunky, overcooked, dry and tough. The shredded chicken was the best one but not by much. It was very bland and dry. I forced myself to eat some the chicken just to get some protein. I ended up throwing away the food because I couldn’t even chew it. It was a bummer as I hate wasting food and I was hoping this place would be good.

They don't put cheese or potatoes in their Chorizo Breakfast Burrito. It's $3 extra to add them. Thats almost $13.50 for a burrito where other places cost $11.00 and have potatoes and cheese to start. There are far to many good Mexican food places to waste your money here. Can't wait for this place to go out of bussiness.

It was Sunday, I asked “how’s the carnitas today?”. Reply oh really great! So I ordered combination plate. Got home, opened the box, carnitas was presented diced, some was dark, some light, I assumed the lighter colored was potatoes. No it was Pork so dry that it was tasteless. Since it was tasteless pork all went to my dogs!

I just had a california burrito from here. All I can say is where is the beef? Mostly potatoes/fries. Very disappointed. Probably the worst California burrito I have ever had.
