I had the sausage sandwich plate with green beans and cherry/pineapple cobbler for my 2 sides. I was impressed that I was able to get cobbler as a side and impressed by the cherry/pineapple. I was a little hesitant about the cherry pineapple mix but the 2 flavors complemented the other. I will go back to eat there.
So good I forgot to take a pic before eating.
Ribs was cooked almost perfect, brisket almost melted in your mouth, don't think I even tasted the chicken, I ate it so quick. Everything was seasoned/ smoked to perfection..... 5⭐ I'll be back
Hands down, some of the BEST BBQ dallas has to offer, that isn't a huge chain restaurant. ALWAYS greeted with a smile and Mike's usually behind the counter, serving up plates with a great attitude. Food is to die for.
The only reason I gave them 5 stars is because that is the max allowed. This place is outstanding!! The BBQ plate is $16 but includes up to 3 meat selections, 2 sides, texas toast, and soft serve ice cream. I got brisket, beef hot links, and pork ribs. I have had none better. Sandwich plates are $12 and include 2 sides and the ice cream. The banana pudding and cobblers looked outstanding but I just didn't have room. Don't come expecting fancy, just good food. The staff was friendly and helpful. I swear, even the other customers seemed to be among the most friendly folks you would want to meet.
Ordered lunch for a large group today (14 people) and everything was outstanding! The food was amazing, the ordering process was super easy, pick-up was simple (the staff was very friendly & helpful), and they included everything we needed with our order (plates, plastic ware, serving tongs & spoons, etc.) which was so appreciated. It was our first time eating here and we will absolutely be back. Such a fantastic experience!
Their Smokehouse salad was delicious. Their peach cobbler was through the roof!! I have not tasted anything that good in a long time. Not many restaurants know how to make a great peach cobbler. It's either too sweet or not the proper texture. Great job!! Will be returning again!
Awesome place. The BBQ is excellent. Their sauces were perfect. Their sides though are crazy good. All of the sides we had were amazing, and their fried okra was honestly best I’ve ever had. Since they open early it was what drew us in. If I’m back in Dallas I will stop back by.
Real rating is 4.4 but didn't want to dock this BBQ establishment. Brisket was good and tender, BBQ beans were great and pinto beans were spicy but missed on the flavor. For desert they have complimentary soft serve ice cream. I'll definitely go back.
Wow! My first time stopping by and needed to place a to-go order for seven. They actually just took my order list from me, made the plates, packed'em up, and even labeled everything with the names from my list. The food was absolutely delicious and nothing was missing (which is a fear for when you're bringing in lunch for clients). Will definitely be back! Thank you for the great service and fantastic food.
I actually met Mike Anderson the owner!!! Such an humble and kind gentleman. It was my first (and for sure not last time) time at his restaurant after coming from a high intensity doctor office visit. He's staff, the food, and atmosphere made my intensity level decrease. I started thinking about the great things in life and enjoying this life I have Journey. I also met his caterer and we shared a wonderful time exchanging life moments such as that moment. I see why Mike has such great reviews...now stop reading my review and come on by to see for yourself!!!💯🙌🏾💞🙏🏽💪🏾👏🏾
I've only been here twice and I've only had the pulled pork sandwich plate both times, but wow is this place amazing! The pork was tender, coleslaw had a great taste, and the seasoned taters were perfect. Mike's certainly a welcoming guy, knows what he's doing and I couldn't recommend this place anymore with just words. Give this place a try, and I know I'll be back for more!
My first impression of this restaurant. The staff is super friendly. Especially the red headed woman at the register. She really made me feel welcomed. The portions are very generous and hearty and the food tasted like texas. It gave me a warm all over feeling. The brisket is done perfectly and the sausage is perfection. The price is a little high. I paid $20 for a dinner plate. But take into consideration that it came with 2 sides and a drink. And also meat is very expensive without getting less than choice cuts. This place has found a way to provide a welcoming atmosphere with great comforting food and staff that makes you feel like you walked into your own families house who just happen to be cooking barbecue! I will definitely be back!
Best BBQ around...we drive 45+ minutes to get here! Great sauces (especially the spicy smoked jalapeno) and a nice little outdoor patio (BYOB too!). I keep going back and its always great; all the meats are well-prepared and the sides and desserts are amazing! Mike's always at the board personally cutting the meat for every customer and remembers you by name.
Good o'l Texas BBQ. served Cafeteria style. Meat is juicy and tender, and well smoked. Usually busy. Walking distance from Parkland Hospital. Very average Iced Tea. Priced just above reasonable. Try it!!!
Service, brisket, ribs, sides...it's all good! Stopped in for lunch while traveling around Dallas. The guy cutting and serving the meat was friendly and welcoming. Grab a tray, choose some well made BBQ, then go down the line and pick your sides, drink, dessert, etc. It's quick and all delicious. And that Bourbon Pecan Pie was amazing!
This was my first time trying this restaurant. I ordered through Favor. So good!!! This to me is the best bbq I have had in Dallas. I will definitely order from here again. I had the brisket sandwich plate, okra, baked potato and this corn mash. Everything was great!
Absolutely the best BBQ around. This is a must do for BBQ fans
Loved the brisket and pulled pork. The service is wonderful and the variety is impressive. I would definitely eat here again!
BBQ was great, and the sides were fresh and delicious, as always. I love the option of several cold sides like the cucumber salad. Staff are efficient and friendly.
Will return, food very good. It's kind of pricey, but the taste and quality of the food are excellent. They have the best brisket sandwich omg.
We have used Mike's BBQ before for small catering within our construction office here. But we brought a 600 person Top Out Ceremony to Mike and he pulled this off flawlessly. Andy who is his catering genius and his team did a phenomenal job. Honeslty without them I don't know if this would have gone off as smooth as it did. Their service was on time and the quality of the food matched it. I'm so glad we decided to use Mike's for our Top Out event. Thank you to Mike and the entire team! That was a lot of hungry people to feed!
Great bbq spot! Good fast service. The stuffed jalapeno and sausage were amazing. Ribs weren't the best I've had but still tender and good. Fried okra was on point. Would definitely reccomend for a very filling lunch- probably would be wise to stick with a sandwich if you want to move at all the rest of the day.
Today was my first time visiting even though I have known about the place for many years. Cool vibe inside. Mike, the proprietor, is at the front counter serving up the Q. Everything I had was very good. There is a large selection of unique sides. I highly recommend trying the stuffed jalapeños (pictured). Prices are reasonable. BBQ sauces are made in house. There is complimentary soft serve.
Mike Anderson's does not disappoint, from the portion size, to the customer service, to the finger licking flavor. Prices are on point as you'd expect from an average place, however food is far beyond anything average. We ordered to go for the shop, and they packaged every order with individual names and plates. All my coworkers said everything tastes better than pecan lodge. If you're in dallas, swing by and pick up a plate, you won't regret it.
Where do I begin? The food… phenomenal. The portions… wonderfully excessive. The vibe… Texas to the max. The owner… sweet as pie. My friends and I are from the Midwest and needed to try some of the infamous Texas bbq and boy did we pick the right place. The pulled pork was melt in your mouth delicious and the bbq sauce really hit the spot. We had enough to make us unbutton our jeans and still have left overs. Thank you Mike for making us out of towners feel at home.
Really good bbq. The sides all look really good. I just can't stop getting the fried okra and fries. They are both seasoned really well and finally a place that knows how to get the okra crispy. The owner is very polite along with the other staff.
My go to place for bbq in DFW. Mike knows how to prepare his bbq. It falls off the bone and brisket and pulled pork is just as good! You have to catch him while you can because he is open 3-4 hours daily. The ribs are delicious and the pecan pie is slap your momma good. You need to get the bourbon pecan pie and freeze it. It soooo good. Don’t forget the potato salad. Thank you Mike for putting love in your food!
I'm not a huge fan of bbq but this place is good and is reasonably priced. I got the pulled chicken and turkey (.25 lb of each) and they chopped it up for me. I also got the green beans with ham and fried okra. The green beans are not crisp by any means and are a little buttery for me but I also like foods to be simple without much seasoning. The okra was well seasoned. I didn't try the jalapeno bbq sauce but someone else in my group said it was very good and has a bit of a kick! Also free icecream here!
This place has real deal Southern BBQ! I got a Spudzilla, 2 stuffed peppers, and an order of peach cobbler. Everything was soooooo good!!! The portions are huge. There were 2 of us and there was plenty left for later. I ordered curbside service. It was ready on time. I didn't wait 2 minutes to get my order. I will be eating here every chance I get!
Mike’s place has real BBQ. Nothing fake here. From the moment you come in you know this place is for real people to get good food. This is the place to wear your Wranglers and boots. Not many man buns seen in the place. Certainly not many socialists seen here either unless they are keeping their political views silent so they can get a great meal. We had brisket and pulled pork. Sides were fried okra, green beans w potatoes slices, creamy cheesy mashed potatoes, baked beans, potatoes salad, and banana pudding. Owner Mike was slicing the meat for our meal. Our total was $45 for two but we had extra sides and drinks. Everyone gets free ice cream, even if they’re a socialist It ain’t a fancy place but I had the best brisket I’ve had in months. I’ll be back and I won’t hold the door open too long (see photo).
Stop here many times for my lunch on my way to work. The employees are always kind and the food is amazing. Definitely try the brisket.
Very tasty barbecue! We had the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. The cheddar garlic smashed taters were 💯!! You even get a free ice cream cone.
We stopped by Mike's barbecue House when visiting Dallas for work. When we arrived near closing at 2pm we found a small business with the friendly owner (Mike) personally greeting and serving people behind the counter. Something rarely seen in today's world. We specifically sought him out because he's one of the few places in town that accepts sound money in the form of Goldbacks for payment. I like to support small businesses and part of that is in how payment is made, cash is better than card and Goldbacks hold value while cash does not. The food was very good, delicious pulled pork, brisket, and cobbler. Had some good conversation about monetary history and the Goldback. I'm glad we stopped by, the experience was enjoyable and I wish Mike well in his future endeavors.
The scent of smokey bbq welcomes you as you walk up to the door. I went "down the line," and tried four sides. Anyone can smoke meat; it is the care and dedication to great sides that sells me on a really good barbeque restaurant. All of the sides were delicious. I am looking forward to going back and trying more sides. The selection is really impressive. The smoked jalapeno barbecue sauce is the best I have ever had, no joking. I would buy a bottle and put that on everything. I took a pound of brisket home for my family. The loved it plain. When I told them how good the barbecue sauce was, they added it to their plate and it was unanimous....delicious. I also took home a cheddar jalapeno sausage; it reminded me of that smokey aroma that welcomed me in as I walked up to the door with my first bite. One sausage is not enough! I will be back and often when im the area. I can't wait to try more options and the gorgeous dessert selection. The toilet in the women's restroom seems small because it is very low to the ground. The flapper chain could be shortened, because you have to hold the handle down longer for it to flush.
This is the best Tasting BBQ. I drive from Ferris Texas to dine. The Brisket is very tender. The baked Beans are my favorite. I recommend this place to everyone. He will not disappoint.
While visiting Dallas I decided to stop by Mike Anderson’s and had a great experience. Service is cafeteria style where you select your meat then you get to scoop your own sides down the line. Service here was friendly and food was tasty. Give this place a try if you happen to be in the area.
I just happened to stop in bc I was in the area and it had good reviews and I wanted to try something new. Parking lot looked a lil sketch But I’m sooo glad I went inside!! Everyone was very polite and welcoming. I thought prices were decent. The food tho - everything was amazing! I got brisket, pulled pork and pork ribs - pulled pork and brisket were perfect Probably some of best bbq all around I’ve experienced - no bs Highly recommend and I’ll certainly return 🙏🏾
This is hands-down the best BBQ restaurant in the world. There's a lot of BBQ in Texas and Mike's makes them all taste like trash. The sides are amazing; you can get crisp and flavorful cucumber salad or get a little sleepy after the cheesy cornbread. I've had them both and they couldn't be better. The meat is the star of this place though. Prepare to be saying WOW as your eyes grow wide when that smoky/sweet/salty flavor reaches your taste buds. Mike's couldn't be doing anything better. This really is -no question- the best BBQ restaurant in the world.
We ordered from here today for 5 people to be delivered. Others have had their BBQ before but for me it’s the first time. They have a huge lists of sides to choose from, ordering was easy and quick, delivery was also pretty quick, did not wait long. Food arrived well packed no issues, all orders were as expected and they did write the names of each order on the lid. I got the dinner plate with 2 sides, Brisket, Ham, Hot Link, Garlic and Cheese Smashed tater tots. Everything was really good, had no issues with the presentation, flavor, and bbq sauce they have. We will definitely order from here again, great food!
This place was great! Delicious food and friendly service. The bbq was amazing and lots of unique sides I’ve never seen before. Lots of meat choices to choose from. The bbq sauce was delicious and it’s no wonder they sell it! I got a chopped brisket sandwich plate. The bun was unique too. It’s located right by UT Southwestern hospital. Mike the owner greets you and takes your order, prepares your meat and makes small talk. I really enjoyed the small town hospitality. You definitely won’t be disappointed. Don’t forget to get the cobbler for dessert. It’s fantastic and I couldn’t stop eating it. Mike shared a few ingredients he uses for it. Mmm 😋
Friendly staff, juicy brisket! I've never tasted okra that delicious in my life! And the BBQ beans were top notch. I drive all over DFW for work so eating out is common. If I'm going to pay good money for food, I expect it to be really good food. And this place makes some of the best barbecue around! I'll be coming back for that juicy goodness!
Mike Anderson's the barbecue is awesome taste great every last bite. You know a place is good when they open up and a few hours later they're closing down because they're out of food. One of the best things is you can order to go online and come and pick it up and they're ready to serve you. Mike the owner is always there greeting and talkin with customers. It is a very friendly place to eat. The beef brisket is always tender and juicy, it is my wife's favorite thing on the menu.
The food is all good from the BBQ to the sides there's not a bad thing on the menu. Seating is good for a BBQ joint. The atmosphere is about what you would expect, not fancy but Texas. Overall it's a good spot and I'm not a big BBQ guy. Just don't get lippy with the cook.
I've had their Barbeque Sandwich and it was delicious. The sauce was so good and so are their buns. I have picked up tons of orders to be delivered to many corporate offices because it's so good. Atmosphere is nice service as well, I most definitely will eat there again. Sorry no pictures, so good I ate too fast.
Excellent value! 3 meat dinner plate. Pulled pork was tasty. The moist brisket had a good smokey flavor; dry brisket not so much. Pork rib had a great smokey flavor, definitely in my top 5. The devilish eggs are huge and quite tasty. The cheesy corn casserole was delicious.
I was really looking forward to trying this establishment however was not all that I thought it would be. It is the standard BBQ with sides, desserts, and soft serve (which was really good and creamy). I must say the brisket was not juicy and the chicken was dry, the turkey was juicy and the side (XL) baked potato was good. The sides were okay, mostly on the tangy side. I wish I would've liked it but maybe I'm bias after having Hutchins BBQ. Can't say I would be back, not my ambience.
One time visit for me. Service was quick and easy, Mike and staff were kind. However, the taste of the brisket was so bad to me, it was tender but unseasoned to a high degree, I couldn't eat it. Maybe a little seasoning and some fat parts. Devilish eggs and cheese potatoes were also not my jam.
Definitely looked the part, classic Texas BBQ house. Has indoor seating and a outdoor deck. I believe you can rent it out for gatherings as well. The staff was nice, they have a great variety of sides, and slices of pie. I recommend choosing the big baked potato option because they cut it open and put your meat on top! Definitely the way to go😊 That being said, the brisket was very dry, and pulled pork was ok but nothing special. Their sauces were awesome 👍 they also have a self serve bar filled with fresh pickles and onions etc, very well stocked.
Nothing is truly better than average. Portions are mediocre at best. With that being said they don't serve anything that's actually bad. I definitely recommend trying for yourself because many think highly of this place and we simply have different taste and options with food. That's my take. And I give lower ratings to all restaurants that have implemented the tip first before you can pay for your food system. Pay the owners employees for putting food in a container. They were hired to serve food. There isn't anything being done deserving of a tip. And who specifically gets the tip. The person who's job it is to put my food in the box? Does the cashier get some of my tip? Does the dishwasher get some of my tip? Because I want the dishwasher to get a percentage because the food wasn't truly good, but the utensils I saw were very clean. How much of my tip does each worker get? Most of the world are followers and will go along with anything.
This was not my cup of tea. We all like different things, and obviously many do like this bbq, it just wasn’t for me. I got the meat plate with three meats. 1. Fatty brisket had no flavor, no smoke ring, nada. 2. Turkey was bland as well. 3. Chicken thigh had very tough skin which was inedible. For sides I got the green beans, which were standard tasting, and the deviled eggs, which again were lacking in flavor. Everyone working there was very nice and the place was very clean so I encourage you to try it yourself, I just won’t fo back when I’m down this way at UTSW.
I went there on Sunday. Very nice owner who was cutting the meat. However the brisket literally had no flavor. It tasted like cardboard. I have never had brisket that had no flavor before. The pork ribs weren’t bad but the brisket was so awful I don’t think I would ever go back. I got my order to go and I didn’t even eat 1/4 of it. Waste of money. I’ll stick with TB’s and PL.
Went to Anderson’s today hoping for a good salad. Unfortunately, I got one with wilted lettuce that had turned purple from the red cabbage. I asked for no red onion, and instead of making it fresh, they just unwrapped a pre-made salad and tossed the onions out (lol). For $20, the medium-sized salad was just… okay. Definitely not worth the price.
GROSS! We stopped in on Saturday morning around 1130ish and I ordered a 3 meat plate at $19 which came with 2 sides. The sides were surprisingly good...but the meat.. which was beef sausage, sliced brisket and turkey...was OLD & dry! Like the meat had been sitting overnight. The beef sausage literally had a mushy consistency like it had been repeatedly reheated. And though you get 3 meats the portions are very small and for $20! The guy takes a link and cuts pieces off on both ends and throws it in the pot of beans...so you don't even get a whole link. I was utterly disappointed. I threw the food in the trash and only ate some of the sides. My first and last time. HARD 8 has way better quality.
The young woman that answers the phone there is very rude the food was wrong there having to make me feel like I'm begging them to call me back to give me my refund this place is trash. Then two days later the guy sends a slick lip email not addressing the issue clearly showing their lack of accountability at this supposedly barbecue joint. I look forward to seeing the "for lease". sign on your front doors when you close.
Probably some of the worst BBQ I have ever had. Dry you can’t tell the difference between the brisket sandwich and the pulled pork both need sauce, sent me and my friends with the bubble guts. Best thing was the big red. Will never return to this establishment. Dicky’s is way better and they suck. Stay away.
Not what it used to be before the new relative took over. The meat was dry and potato over cooked. A healthy helping of right wing conspiracy theory comes free with every meal. Additions to the decor echo this theme.
I ordered a three meat combo and got double brisket with the beef sausage; however I got the exact portion amount of brisket as my coworker who got three different meats. I called and spoke with Mr. Mike and he seem irritated that I was calling about the portion size of my meat being the exact same as amount as my coworker who didn’t get double brisket. This was a very sad excuse of Customer service from the owner and our company orders here two or three times a month. This is no way to treat a regular customer and our office has decided to choose a different barbecue restaurant named Terry Blacks from this day on out. Terry blacks is better anyway. The owners response: “Response from the owner 3 hours ago All plates have the same amount of meat regardless if they are one meat, two meat, or three meat. Thanks for sneaking in the barb at the end of your commentary, nice touch. I'll call Terry and warn him that you are coming.” Not only are you calling me liar and acting like I don’t know what I am talking about, but you are acting you never made a mistake. We spent nearly $250 on the order and every person in the office saw the mistake and acknowledged it. I was not throwing a jab at you about Terry Black’s because if you look at his ratings on google you will see they are better, and look at the customer service comments. Now look at the history of your customer service comments. You’re a sad excuse for customer service.
Have been placing the same order for years and receiving correctly. Today the order was delivered incorrectly and when I called to talk to them about it Mike was incredibly rude and not interested in making the order right. Never has a problem with any order prior to today. Will NOT patronize this business again!
Honestly do not understand the good reviews. Sausage casing was hard and chewy. Brisket was ok, but not flavorful. Ribs had a fake smokey quality to them, liquid smoke added? Cole slaw was canned. BBQ beans were good. The atmosphere was sucked out of the place with the big LET"S GO BRANDON sign you have to endure in the serving line. Tired, old, hateful rhetoric that even the most die hard patriots need to retire. Be careful with your vehicle in the pot hole parking lot.
I literally waited 3mths to come here because it was recommended by a colleague. This was one of the worst bbq I ever tasted in my life. I had the brisket, ribs, and the sausage and the meat was a little tough with not one bit of seasoning 🤮🤮🤮🤮 and I thought the green beans had a little hope due to the meat, onions, and potatoes in them but it was missing the seasoning🤮🤮🤮. With the money I spent here was a waste of money and I will never come back ever. Now I see why they’re only opened for 4hrs a day because their food SUCKS!!!!!! Don’t waste your time or money unless you like unseasoned food.Terry Black BBQ here I come!!!!
Our company had done a big order for takeout for this place since it was nearby and had good reviews. One of the plates for our employees was not provided. Tried to get that one order for the employee. We didn't ask for the whole order to be comp, just wanted one employee's order to be filled so they could go pick it up. They didn't want to accomdate that or reimbursed the missing plate. Would leave zero stars if possible. Not good service. The price was over $200 so they should've reasonably give us the one plate that was missing. Do not recommend for big orders and maybe catering.
I placed an order for my clients. There was hair in my food as well as the food and meat being extremely hard and dry. I called to let them know the owner not only hung up in my face he insisted that he doesn’t serve this kind of food and offered no resolution to the situation. I have spent lots of money over the years and this was my one and only complaint. Everyone has off days you apologize and resolve not treat long time clients like this. I do not recommend this place at all.
I ordered the dinner plate... I had been craving brisket for a while... While this was rated 4.6 stars I assumed this would have been a great bbq spot. I got there at 1130am.....(I'm thinking I'm getting the fresh of the fresh since the establishment opens up at 10am).. Not sure but baby this is the worst of the worst brisket I have ever had... It genuinely taste like cardboard. I'm very sad about it... $23.00 not spent well at all. Highly disappointed! Customer service was amazing!
