Stopped at this BBQ spot near the airport and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing — the meat was tender, juicy, and literally fall-off-the-bone good. Service was incredible from start to finish, and the hospitality really stood out. You could tell they were happy to have us there, and that energy made the experience even better. My only small complaint was that my food could’ve been a bit warmer, but honestly, it didn’t take away much from how good everything was. Definitely a place I’ll be going back to. Solid 9/10. 🔥🍖
Simply great bbq. I had the 2 item lunch plate ribs and brisket. Both had lots of flavor and very tender! Good beans and potato salad. I will be back on my next trip to Austin.
Very good. The Ribs, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese were very tasty!
This place has the basics down, excited to see how they do over the years. A shop that many try before they hit it big. Brisket - Moist Ribs - Tender Mac - Thiccc Potato Salad - Sweet Mustard Banana Pudding - Pillow of Love Give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed, things will just slow down as you take your first bite.
I think this was the best bbq I’ve had and I’m a Texas resident. The vibes are no frills and 100% authentic. The family that runs the restaurant was so sweet to us and we enjoyed watching the Broncos v Bills game with them! If you’re looking for a chill cozy bbq meal, this is your spot.
Don’t let the outside appearance fool you. This authentic and humble establishment doesn’t give you a knife for a reason. Little cutie behind the cash register and a whole family of people in the kitchen chopping away making incredible brisket and the sides that are first rate Close to the airport
Not gonna lie. I was pretttyyyy skeptical about this place. Looking at from the outside in will make you tilt your head a little but man. The front lady who took the order was so sweet and kind and the bbq was wonderful. Personally I think it’s a little pricey but it was definitely worth it Very very good bbq. From texture to flavor was absolutely worth it. I’m very glad I found this hole in the wall. I will be back for sure.
I saw on their facebook that they were having brisket chili so as soon as I got off my flight I went STRAIGHT over to their restaurant. My only regret is not buying more of their food! The brisket chili was PERFECTION along with the corn bread and the ribs were falling off the bone and so tender!! Best ribs I’ve ever had (even reheated!). I will definitely be recommending this place to everyone who wants quality BBQ and I will be returning!
The brisket was so good! I'm from Colorado but my family is from Texas and every summer I would come down to visit. This bbq tastes exactly like my childhood food memory. Worth every calorie. We can't get brisket like this in CO.
Came from oregon to try texas bbq this was are first stop Wish i had photo of the plate before but it didn't last long between me and my wife So good had to leave a review after eating it in are hotel room The ribs amazing on their own The brisket sooo good and then you dip it in the sauce Make and cheese and the beans amazing as well But then they give you bread and pickles as well And can make brisket taco with the each slice of bread and throw everyone in it!! Amazing 100 percent recommend leaving the airport to stop their!
The Brisket was excellent. You can cut it with a plastic fork. The ribs & pulled pork were also very tender. Mac-n-cheese was good too. The food here particularly the meat ranks in the top 3 of any BBQ I have had in a restaurant. It is not a fancy restaurant, very basic and the restroom in a portalet outside of the building.(but it was clean). This is a convenient stop if you are on your way to the Austin International airport.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/2/2025 Henry’s Barbecue is definitely worth a visit! We ordered the family pack, and everything we tried was delicious. One tip-make sure to get there early, because by the end of the day they had run out of a few items (a good sign that the food is in high demand). Also the ribs were so tender the bone came right out. 👍 It’s a small, family-owned spot with a welcoming vibe. The daughter who helped us out was so kind and friendly, which really made the experience even better. Great food, great people-can’t ask for more. Highly recommend Henry’s Barbecue if you’re in the mood for some good, down-to-earth barbecue!
I was leaving Texas on my way back to Canada and with little time to spare needed to find some BBQ close to the airport. They closed at 5:00pm so I knew I might be able to get everything. These people were just as amazing as the food. They hooked me up with some amazing ribs and killer brisket sandwiches. The two other customers in there were both regulars and struck up conversations with me while I waited. I was stuck in my hotel for 24 hours waiting for my flight and their BBQ sustained me.
I don’t believe in accidents. A friend who is currently in a nursing home requested pork ribs and Big Red for dinner. I did a Google Maps search for barbecue near me and Henry’s popped up. Wow!!!! My friend is in heaven right now, because she can’t believe how delicious the food is! The ribs are meaty and perfectly seasoned, the Mac and cheese is homemade, excellent beans, and their barbecue sauce is spot on! This restaurant is a gem! Looks like I’ll be eating here and taking more barbecue to my friend! Nothing like a homemade meal to cheer a person up! And she says that the banana pudding is the best she’s ever tasted! I highly recommend this restaurant!
I stopped here after a friend of mine came into town for about an hour on a layover, it was only 3 minutes from the airport which was really nice. I ordered a pound of brisket with a side of Mac and cheese and OMG. The brisket was SO tender, It would fall apart so easily when you picked at it with your hands. The seasoning was PERFECT. The Mac and cheese is to die for. I didn't even get a picture of the food unfortunately because of how quickly we devoured it. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Henry’s passes all the vibe checks… good home cooking, no frills space, and kind people. The potato salad & banana pudding are SO GOOD! Mac & cheese is rich & creamy, like the best cafeteria mac & cheese memories. The brisket is delicious & the ribs perfectly seasoned. And any place that has Big Red is top tier. Perfectly located by the airport, and should be your go to spot when you get back from a trip or after dropping someone off ❤️
Hole in the wall is right but DANG that was some good brisket! Coming from a true Texan who’s had everything from Franklins to Rudy’s… this place is great! The Mac is BANGING! The lady at the front is kind and informative. Decent prices considering how expensive meat is… just wish they had turkey.
I've heard good things about this place & I was finally able to make time and see for myself. This is a small mom & pop operation. In my opinion, these places usually out perform the larger corporate chains. In this case, one of the owners does the cooking himself and he's deeply passionate about his product. The food does not come off as restaurant quality. It's more like home cooked food being served at a restaurant. Does that make sense... The cook was kind enough to come and chat with me. He was actually busy seasoning his BBQ in the back, but came out to see if I was enjoying his workmanship. I expressed how surprised I was that I could cut the brisket with a plastic knife. He mentioned that he was fortunate enough to receive a trophy for his cooking, and that he will be a contestant in the upcoming rodeo this March. Apparently, his participation is strictly to raise scholarship funds- which I find to be admirable. I tried the brisket with a side of mac & cheese along with a serving of beans. The brisket was so moist & tender. The food was perfectly seasoned. I didn't have to add anything. The beer was nice and cold. I very much enjoyed my meal. I paid less than $20 for a complete meal with a cold beer. I very much enjoyed all of the food & I am anxious to see where this family operation goes. They definitely have the potential to became a larger operation. I highly recommend visiting if your in the south Austin, Del Valley area. See you there... Enjoy 😉
I trusted the reviews in google and gave this place a shot. It’s 4 minutes from the Austin airport and was fast service. It’s in a part of town that’s a little sketchy and there’s bars on the windows. However the crowd inside was locals getting great food. This isn’t a fancy place but the food was great. We tried a few things and it all was delicious. Pic is of chopped brisket taco and pulled pork taco. Both were excellent but if I could only choose 1 it would be the pulled pork.
My mom and I tried out this place right before I dropped her off at the airport and we were overly pleased by the experience. The shop was just opening and we expected a bit of wait for the food but out half pound of brisket and Mac n cheese came out in less than 10 minutes. The brisket was extremely tender and tasty. Sauce was great and the Mac n cheese delightful as well. Joe was very personable and informative. He was happy to answer all questions I had regarding bar b q as I am a bit clueless. Being a little shop with Joe being the only cook at the moment, you can expect this great quality every time!
Really good BBQ and it’s super close to the airport which is a plus for anyone just getting out from the Austin airport so they can experience Texas BBQ right away. That’s definitely some of the moistest, tender meat I’ve ever had. Like, can meat even get that moist and tender and still be meat? Apparently the answer is yes. Nice simple internal condiments which some how elevate the experience to the next level. Price is fair and there was barely a wait. Would definitely stop by here again. Its a little unique how the establishment is set up. There’s a building and parking in the front but they actually sell from a food cart in the back. The building is actually just so you can eat inside. It’s almost like they’re in between food cart and restaurant status. Anyway, great food!
Dropped a friend off at the airport, and this spot on my list was right across the street. The stars aligned and I decided it was finally time to give it a try. Brisket (6/10): The brisket was super tender. But it was also dry. In my experience this usually happens when the brisket is overcooked in the wrapped state. The salt was a little unevenly distributed. But at the end of the day, the burnt ends saved an otherwise sub par experience. Corn (10/10): This was one of the best corn based sides I’ve ever had. Moist, like the creamed corn from Terry blacks, but clearly with little if not no added sugar. Any sweetness you felt was from the corn. —@eddythefoodcritic
