What a special experience. We came in after a day walking around in 90 degree weather, in sneakers and looking exhausted. We were treated no less for it. The food was outstanding, the water refills very frequent. The dessert was one of the best things I've ever had. I had the price fixed menu - I started with calamari salad and it was mind boggling. My entree was the seafood bibimbap and I thought it was really lacking in flavor. But what a great view!!!

Went here for a friends birthday The view was magnificent and the good was great! The waiters/waitresses were very kind and respectful, especially during coronavirus. A little bit pricey but was definitely worth it for the experience. A variety of meat and great list of cocktail/ alcoholic beverages. The lobster fried rice was so good that I had to order a second one to go for myself 😅!

Outstanding Korean BBQ with amazing views of NYC. I did the BBQ at the table and ordered the combos. The marinated meats were fantastic. The staff was very attentive. The service was great. The prices were fair but the wine prices seemed a bit high even for NYC. I stuck with cocktails all night and had a great time. They are on the 39th floor and when you get off the elevator you don’t feel crammed into a small space. Lots of bar seating. Great spot for a special event or simply to stop by after work.

5 stars all around, great food, amazing service and beautiful views. I came here with some friends and had some delicious Korean bbq. Our server cooked all our meats in front of us and was very informative. The sides were also delicious. Will definitely visit again!

Wow. This is my 6th or 7th time here and.. it seems to get better and better throughout the years. I had the Chicken (appetizer) and the Galbi with Kimchi Fried Rice and wow.. the Galbi is by far the best.. Sul hosted us and was a delight! Very kind, welcoming, patient and a blessing to have by our side throughout the evening. Very very happy. Great view. Great environment. Great quality good. Great staff. Great all around.

One of the best views! Perfectly located in central New York on the 39th floor the restaurant is just beyond amazing and the food was delicious!I had requested a window table when I booked with a barbecue and I would suggest to make that request (on opentable for instance) as it avoids disappointment of being seated randomly. It was a lovely evening. I would say the place looks great for a date but they're also perfectly ok with little ones (I was with my 1 year old son). It is great value for money and worth the time! Would definitely go back!

Everything was perfect about this dinner: service, the view and of course food! They cook it in front of you just as you like it — very fresh and high quality. Very happy we chose this spot for our dinner

We did a préfixe Valentines menu which while a bit pricey was extremely good! The service is at the top level, good is excellent and drinks are great! We sat in the room with a view of Empire state building and it was amazing!

I had my parents' 50th Anniversary Dinner at Gaonnuri in Feb 2024. 1. Staff - They were pleasantly nice and helpful. They were always on top of everything. My glass was never empty and the used plates were constantly replaced with the new ones. They were also very knowledgeable with what they are serving. The wine sommelier recommended the perfect wines for all of us. I loved all his suggestions. They also provided the "personalized" menu for our group with my parents' names on it. 2. Food - Food was good as always. Food was not too salty or spicy. My elderly parents enjoyed the food so much! Even my kids (age 8, 14, 17) loved all of them. Their favorite was Japchae and beef tartare in addition to Galbi!! 3. Atmosphere - Beautiful view of NYC. We rented a lounge to celebrate my parents' golden wedding. The table set up was beautiful. Everyone was able to enjoy the view while eating dinner. I strongly suggest this place for special events whether it is for adults or kids!

Great food and incredible views of the NYC skyline. An elevated Korean bbq experience where the wait staff cook your food for you, and very well ventilated - no cooking smells at all! Perfect for a romantic dinner. Our waitress took the time to explain each of the side dishes to us, and cooked our meat perfectly. It’s not cheap, but it’s New York (and it’s worth it)

My family and I went here on a very foggy and rainy day so we couldn't see a nice night-time view. But the dining experience was still one of the finest. Reservation is not required and the minimum dress code is casual (i.e. no hats but sneakers are fine). Food was absolutely amazing. It is one of the few restaurants that actually makes you feel like you are tasting the true Korean dishes. Price is more than fair for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. I will definitely visit here again and if I could, I would give this place a 10/10.

Wow, what a find. Our favorite Korean restaurant in NYC. Perched on the 39th floor, there is breathtaking views of this beautiful city. The food is really delicious and the portions are generous. The service is impeccable. This restaurant is not expensive so great to go with friends but yet elegant, gorgeous setting and ambiance plus exquisite service so I can proudly take my clients here. Can’t wait to come back.

Dinner at Gaonnuri was absolutely amazing! The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. My wife and I had ordered a wide variety of meats, including the A5 Japanese wagyu, as well tiger shrimp. After our first experience here we will definitely be adding this to the itinerary every time we are in NYC.

A

They have a great selection of different meats. While they aren't marinated in anything they do have plenty of flavor. The staff were helpful and they did all of the cooking on the grill for us. The restaurant has amazing views of the city if you are lucky to be seated at one of the many tables with a view.

If you are into Asian food and want to enjoy it with a great view, then book this place. The restaurant was full of Asian patrons which is very good sign for any ethnic cuisine. So the service and the food was really top notch, the only thing I would like them to improve is to call a window service as the bird eye view is a part of experience and those windows can get use some wash 😉

Best Korean BBQ experience so far! Good food with good ambience and service. The meat served was very fresh and delicious. The food is expensive but worth it and the staff maintains the quality. Just a fyi as the name suggests it is a BBQ place, it wouldn't be suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

Korean Food is far too underrated.…. Gaonnuri is known for their amazing views, but the food was incredible. Easily the best Korean I've ever had - even the mushrooms (which I don't like usually) were so delicious. The flavors were unreal in every dish. Needless to say, I highly recommend this spot & can't wait to go back!

This is the place to go if you want to impress a date! Although a tad hard to find, it feels like a secret spot - like an exclusive club for fine diners. We selected the tasting menu, which started with a fried tofu dish. Then we had wagyu on seaweed with wasabi and sea urchin. For the meats, they served their ribeye and marinated pork. While both were very tender, the pork was another level of sublime. The bibimbap was fine but not out of the world special - you could get a similar one at any of the other restaurants in K-town. I was looking forward to dessert the whole night and that did not disappoint. A lovely spongy matcha cake paired with the most incredible ice cream that tasted just like a sponge cake. Never knew ice cream could taste like cake but it did! What a treat. It was well-worth the experience and I would definitely go again!

I picked this place because I wanted a restaurant with a view. They did not disappoint! (they're about 40 stories up) They observe all covid precautions; taking your temp at the door and all the tables are separated by large plexiglass panels! (very ingenious and effective while not taking away from the ambiance) This was my first time having Korean BBQ and I enjoyed it very much! Everything was delicious, well prepared and beautiful presentation. And the waitstaff was very professional, friendly, and attentive. A very good experience.

Had two of the premium sets to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. The meat was delicious, and the table side cooking was really nicely done, and the quantity of food was the right amount for two people. My only feedback would be maybe the banchan dishes could have a stronger flavor, such as the kimchi and cucumber, but I understand the tastes may be adjusted for the clientele which is not super Korean. The entire experience was immaculate, the building is beautiful and the views and exceptional during golden hour and nightfall. The servers were all extremely attentive and nice. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Simply the best korean bbq in America. Fantastic service. And the view....if you get it, it is to die for. I spent my tasting menu watching the sun set on midtown. Make a reservation around 5 to get a great spot. Stan selivered great service, explaining every item as it was received and cooking to perfection.

It is a perfect restaurant with very good atmosphere, food and service. I enjoyed it very much! It is not casual, but I think it would be suitable for a dinner with clients, although it may be too formal for a date.

I ate here today, 6.26.18, with coworkers. The location was recommended by our korean coworker. We made reservations for 7 ppl at 7pm. It’s Tuesday. There was no line, we sat immediately beside the window, and it was pleasant until 10pm. Very lovely location. Made me feel like i was dining very luxuriously. An incredible date spot. They cook the food in front of you in the middle of your table. Definitely small portions. Can be expensive. But its high quality all the way.

Modern Korean BBQ restaurant on the 39th floor of a high rise in K-Town Manhattan with spectacular views. Meats were deliciously seasoned. Server also prepped and grilled the food for you and provided suggestions for cooking. Hood was great since I didn’t smell like food after dinner.

Amazing food and views from the 39th floor. Very extensive drink list and excellent service as well. It was our first time in New York and William was so knowledgeable about the city and gave wonderful recommendations for food and cocktails. My personal favorites were the seafood pancake and the lobster kimchi fried rice is a must try. Ambiance is great for an upscale date/family gatherings, will definitely be returning next time in when New York!!

Located on the 39th floor of a sky scraper, Goannuri blew us away with their Korean tasting menu. It was delectable and the guy who served us for the evening was so fantastic he was chatty and friendly and really excited to tell us all about the food. It was so fun to watch it being cooked right in front of us too. We had gotten engaged earlier that day and they even surprised us with a gorgeous desert with Congratulations written on it. We feel they went above and beyond to make our experience of Korean food enjoyable, classy and fun.

The experience at Gaonnuri was exceptional. The food was top-notch, with the grill prepared right in front of us, adding to the overall excitement. May, our server was so kind and attentive throughout the entire evening. She made sure we had everything we needed, and her attention to detail made the experience even more memorable. She even brought out a special dessert for my birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch! The restaurant’s ambiance is also beautiful, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

10/10. The views alone are worth coming for, but it's just the beginning. The atmosphere is amazing, service is top notch, and the food is out of this world. We ordered the steam dumplings for an appetizer, the lobster kimchi fried rice and the spicy iberico pork neck. All were ridiculously good. For dessert we were gifted a scoop of passion fruit sorbet (I believe) which was insane... And we also got a scoop of vanilla and salted caramel ice cream. Might sound basic, but it was fantastic. Just a phenomenal place. If you go, you'll be more than pleased and you'll be ready to go again. I know I am.

10/10 would bring my hard-to-impress Korean parents here. This is an elevated take on Korean BBQ that activated the bliss centers of my brain and had me happy dancing more than once. WOW. Opted for the à la carte path: 🍄‍🟫 Mushroom Tangsoo: WOWOWOW. Crispy, delicate, and so juicy—I didn’t know mushrooms could be this juicy. I’ll be thinking about this dish for a while. 🐖 Braised Pork Belly: Another WOW. The accompanying kimchis were incredible. Pro tip: a bit of salted shrimp on the pork, a slice of radish, wrapped in the white kimchi = the perfect bite. 🐮 Meats: We ordered a few cuts. My friends wanted medium rare, I wanted medium—no problem. The staff cooked everything to perfection. Even when another team member took over, they remembered to leave mine on a little longer. The attention to detail 👏👏👏 🥒Cucumber Kimchi: Don’t sleep on it!! 🥚Egg Soufflé: Usually my favorite dish. The texture here was fantastic, but there was a slight charred aftertaste I didn’t care for but my friend enjoyed it. 🍚 Dolsot Bibimbap: Solid. I’ll probably skip it next time to try more appetizers—but if you’re a bibimbap person, it’s definitely worth a go. The Finale – Mandarin Yuzu Vacherin: They stuck the landing with the desserts. Like spring in my mouth—exquisite, refreshing, and most importantly, not too sweet. 💛

Went for the steak omakase for a birthday dinner and the meal was a great experience. High quality meat, great uplifted versions of classic Korean food, and attentive service. Gaonnuri continues to be one of my favourite upscale Korean restaurants I want to bring people to for a good memory.

What a delightful experience! We had the seasonal tasting menu. Each course and the amuse bouches were creative, complex and layered in flavour in the most wonderful way, and absolutely delicious to say the least. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was a perfect melding of sophisticated and cozy or comfortable. This was quite pricey though, so an evening that is more of a once in a blue moon for most. That being said, this food experience was worth the pretty penny.

Fantastic birthday dinner experience at Gaonnuri. Decor is gorgeous, great ambiance, superb skyline view! Perfect for a special event. Jason, the manager, was very responsive & accommodating while we were planning my celebration over email. We were also pleasantly surprised that he was kind enough to upgrade us to the best table in the house. Standout appetizers were the sweet & spicy fried chicken and the seafood pancake (a little undersalted!) - veggie dumplings were tasty too. Then came the BBQ course - the short ribs were absolutely delicious, and so were the shrimp. Wasn’t crazy about the chicken (kind of bland). For entrees we all had the Black Cod Gui & Bibimbap. My friends said the cod was one of the best pieces of fish they’d ever had! Dessert was a tasty black sesame pastry with ice cream. Service was excellent - especially from our servers Lee & KK, who were very friendly & attentive. I was particularly impressed with how they accommodated my friends’ allergies. Pricey, but altogether worth it for the experience. Don’t hesitate to plan your next special dinner or event at Gaonnuri - superb KBBQ & hospitality in the heart of KTown. Will return!

Beautiful view of the city! Amazing, delicious and innovative dishes (bbq was great, but the dessert was mind blowing especially the mandarin yuzu vacherin)! Refreshing cocktails! Great wine recommendations from the friendly sommelier! It's rare to find a restaurant that still shows care and attention to their guests like Goannuri.

Fantastic food, Fantastic staff, Fantastic atmosphere we went for my friends birthday and they were so accommodating to our request for a table with an excellent view the food was also amazing I got the Cod and it was cooked to perfection must say if I'm in the area again will definitely have to go!

Staffs are so friendly and accommodating. Our waiter was super attentive. We spent 3 hours enjoying our dinner at the lounge, were not rushed at all. Original made a reservation for main dining room was able to change for a window table at the lounge. The lounge tables don’t have the grill so if you decide to order BBQ it would be cooked for you by the restaurant - which is better in my opinion. I don’t like the smell of BBQ on my clothes and I really don’t need to watch BBQ cooked in front of me. We did order BBQ sets for two it was cooked to perfection! If the view is important to you, know that at the lounge you can see midtown, in the main dining room you can see all the way to downtown financial district.

Perhaps the best restaurant I’ve ever been in NYC. It was fantastic! Views are amazing! We were treated so well!! We didn’t have reservations but we were well accommodated and when a window table got available, they moved us there without us even asking! The food is spectacular, meat is fabulous! We can’t wait to go back to NYC to have dinner there again!!!! Thank you for the experience!

Made reservations for Friday evening, early dinner with a party of four. Got seated right away and the service was great. I'm still getting used to Korean BBQ where they cook the food vs the customers...but a nice thing to not have to worry about while still enjoying seeing the food cooked in front of you. Don't really recall all that we ordered just that the mushrooms on the Vegetable BBQ platter where amazing! We all left full and overall had great conversation of a table side cooked meal. Location was great with nice lighting and modern decor.

O
Océane

Great kbbq with an amazing view on NYC! The portions were very generous as we ordered the seafood pancake and the gaon set for two and we had plenty leftovers by the end. The service was impeccable and the place was well ventilated as we didn’t smell like meat. I would definitely recommend this place for an intimate setting like a date.

L
Leigh Evron

Firstly, the food was incredible. The meal did feel a bit rushed with the next course sometimes being put on the grill before we were done eating the previous one, and the waiter was constantly having to interrupt conversation to explain the next course instead of being able to wait for someone to finish what they were saying before proceeding. We were also asked to leave shortly after we paid the bill to make room for the next reservation, which I get, but also at $350+ per person, you could space out the reservations a bit more to give us time to mingle during and after the meal. To be fair, the reservation on opentable does specify that the table has a 2.5 hour time limit, but that is really, really brisk for a 9 course tasting with a large group, and we were asked to vacate the table after 2 hours and 38 minutes, so there is really very little wiggle room at all. All that said, every bite was divine and the waiter was awesome (not his fault at all that it was so rushed, and he was super polite and answered all of our questions) . I would definitely go back, just maybe on a date night instead of with a group since there doesn't really seem to be time to enjoy the food and have conversation.

Excellent Korean restaurant. We enjoyed the food, the stunning view and the professional and pleasant service. For those who love Korean food, that is a highly recommended place. All the dishes we ordered were very tasty, generously served and the meats on the barbecue were handled professionally by the staff. Do not give up the barbecue dish with the meats mcombination. In Gaonnuri you get a good value for money.

I'll start with the breathtaking panoramic views!!!! What a stunning restaurant!!!! If you are not familiar with what to order off of a Korean menu, just ask for recommendations. From start to finish what an excellent dining experience! Right before the Billy Joel concert, very fitting to have a bottle of red & a bottle of white! If you're in the K-Town area 1250 Broadway to be exact, go straight to the penthouse!!!!

Very unique place to have Korean bbq. The views are amazing. The service was friendly and very attentive. I like they cook the food in front of you and you don’t have to worry about it. The food itself was delicious! Definitely start with the seafood pancakes and japchae. The Australian wagyu just melts! Then end with the Des constructed snicker bar. You will not regret it. Highly recommend this place!

Came for an anniversary dinner and it was so worth it! The bill was a lot cheaper than we expected. The food was delicious, views were spectacular and customer service was on point. This is a really pretty place, basically fancy Korean bbq. There are set price options and the server does all the cooking and serving. So it has all the aspects of kbbq without any of the work. Great choices of meat, great service, love the view and drinks also. We had a great time. I will say it’s not the place if you’re looking for a more laid back place, it does have a certain aesthetic. But it’s beautiful so perfect for dates or dressier nights

This isn't just any Ktown bbq. Gaonnuri boasts of beautiful midtown views from the 39th floor. Their tasting menu hinted at Korean flavors, but didn't overpower. I especially liked the white kimchi cod and the cuts of meat selected for the kbbq. Good service too. Also appreciated the recognition of our anniversary!

From food to scenery and music, everything was perfect, as usual. We took advantage of the restaurant week special menu. It was my husband's birthday and they bring a special ice cream with a candle for him. The staff was super nice and they really knew how to help choosing the menu and preparing the BBQ. It was not the first time, and it won't be the last one, I love this place

We had a fabulous date night here before our second baby arrives. Had the tasting menu so we were seated in front of the window. The views are spectacular. Food was amazing, they even gave us several amuse bouche in between waiting for our main dishes on the chefs tasting menu. The BBQ portion was cooked in front of us so we didn’t need to cook or cut the meats ourselves. We had the regular prime rib menu and it was fantastic. The galbi was marinated for 24 hours and you could tell the marinade penetrated deep into the core of the meat. Every morsel was savoured. The basque cheesecake was the cherry on top to end the meal. Loved the overall presentation and the flow of the meal. Will come again next time.

I came here for my 21st birthday last night and had the best time of my life. My friend had an issue with her food (I did not. Mine was DELICIOUS!!). They immediately offered to remake it, they offered us desserts, the manager came out and was the sweetest ever! He was super accommodating and really made the night special! THANK YOU MR. PARK!!!! I will definitely be back and will be recommending this place to everyone I know. I was so full after my meal and I felt the price was reasonable. Truly one of the best dinners and experiences I’ve had at a restaurant in NYC.

Very exquisite experience in the Center of the World on the 39th floor, with Empire State building so close that you can almost touch it. Very elegant and intelligent staff, who are the best at what they do. I am very pleased with the gastronomical experience and my time was surely spent well, and I did not leave with an empty stomach! Keep up the good work! We will be back with friends!

Let's get one thing straight: You're not coming here for the best bang for your buck. The portion sizes are very small, especially for the prices and the interior decor is minimalistic and ceases to be mind-blowing. Where the restaurant stands out is the great tasting food and beautiful view of the city. Whether you're dining during the day or at night, the city view is spectacular and can make any occasion all the better for it. The sweet & spicy fried chicken was one of the best things I ever tasted. I would consider returning for this chicken alone. The bulgogi was also amazing and was served with white rice and this peanut-like sauce which I wasn't a huge fan of because it overpowered the flavor of the bulgogi. The desserts were great too. The other people in my party ordered the kiachi stew and hot stone bibimbap. I personally did not try the kiachi stew so I cannot speak about its flavor for myself, but it did look very appetizing. As for the bibmbap, well... I tried it and eh... Apart from the small serving sizes, the reason I am deducting one star from my overall rating is due to that spicy pork stone pot bibimbap. I thought it tasted fishy and "fresh-tasting" to the point where I felt like my appetite was ruined after I tried it. It tasted like it could have been the seafood bibimbap instead of the spicy pork which certainly would have explained things, but it wasn't. Also, there are seats around the restaurant that do not give you great access to the outside view so even if you may request a seat at the window in a reservation, it's not always likely that you can get a window seat during a dinner crowd and may get a middle seat which still has viewing access per se, but with the downside of needing to enjoy the view over the shoulders of parties sitting closer to it. This kind of seating also does not make for the best pictures. Also, something to note is that it seemed like the tables with the BBQ grills in the middle of the table are the ones that are closest to the windows so even if you don't plan on using the BBQ, but want a good view, you should request it. If you're sat at the table without a BBQ built in (further away from the windows), you can still order whatever you'd like, but they just won't make it in front of you on that middle of the table grill. Another thing to note is that there is quite an accessibility issue just for leaving. Only 4 people are allowed in the elevator at a time and for whatever reason, there was only 1 elevator going up and down at the restaurant so just waiting to get into the elevator to leave was a task that took a good five minutes and resulted in a bunch of people crowded around the bar in a sort of line while waiting for the elevator to come back up and then a small discussion deciding which group got to take the elevator first. And finally, a somewhat confusing thing was finding the restaurant in the first place. It's located in the Nomad tower, but only one entrance is actually accessible on 32nd street. I passed the entrance using Google Maps until I had to go to the website and find out where there entrance was. I would suggest the Gaonnuri owner remap where the restaurant is pinned on Google Maps to help people avoid that problem in the future. Overall, had a good experience here and nice food, but I try to reserve 5-stars for perfect or near-perfect experiences and with a dish I really did not like as well as my few mentioned caveats, I have to give Gaonnuri a 4-star rating.

Tried it for restaurant week. Fabulous Korean BBQ, very high quality. Very nice view of city. Unfortunately service was sub-par. It was slow & also half way through our dinner anything we were asking for - even lettuce- they were refusing to bring for us, stating "kitchen is closed". I've never experienced such a thing even in Macdonald,. You would expect a lot more from such a "high scale" restaurant. Again unfortunately looking at the reviews it seems service issues is pretty common here. A shame that looks like they don't care about it.

Great views of NYC. Not always guaranteed a window seat, but we were lucky. Put in a reservation in advance. The food and service was good. Prices are high, but that’s expected for the location. Highly recommend the beef tartare and octopus for apps. We only did the BBQ for dinner. The American Wagyu and pork belly were really good.

Great views of Manhattan from the 39th floor. Especially during the night the view feels very relaxing. The Korean food here is tasty. Me and my friends enjoyed all the dishes we ordered here (as you can see from the pictures). The service was fast and decent. However after 45 minutes they came and took our plates, without even asking, and the plates weren’t even empty. That was weird, never seen something like this before. We didn’t say anything because we were full, just felt very unprofessional picking up our plates without asking. Anyway, expect this episode, the food was tasty.

Very good experience, waiters were helpful and food was delicious. It was catered more to the common palette than the Asian one (found spice missing in all dishes). The price is for the view and ambience and with a table by the windows it is worth it!

Food: When you come to Gaonnuri, you don’t come for amazing KBBQ. For this price, you go to COTE. Gaonnuri has GREAT KBBQ. For $68, you get the Gaon set which is a ribeye steak, marinated short ribs, and spicy Ibérico pork. The ribeye was probably one of the best quality cuts of meat I’ve had from a restaurant. The short rib was good. The pork was just okay - not super authentic, but very flavorful. Set comes with Korean egg soufflé and soybean paste stew. Great food with a great view, but be prepared for the sky tax! Service: Ray? was our waiter. Super chill guy, grilled up our meats well. Hostess at the front isn’t the most attentive (saw her playing Subway surfers on her phone, haha) but I get it considering that Gaonnuri isn’t getting tons of foot traffic. Great, seamless experience. Atmosphere: Where else are you getting a view almost 40 floors up with KBBQ? You can easily see all of Manhattan and more. Even though we went on a cloudy day, the view was still amazing. If you do want a window seat, you have to either have a large party or get their very expensive tasting menu. Overall, great, one-of-a-kind one-time KBBQ experience in ktown! Toodaloo!

Entrance is on 32nd St. - Very nice experience. Wait staff is courteous and not overbearing. Atmosphere and decor are really nice. Everything we ordered was very flavorful and tasty especially the dumplings and black cod. And the views.... The restaurant is on the 39th floor so the views of surrounding Manhattan landscape are amazing.

Go here for dessert and the view! The Korean food was decent, not amazing. But the dessert was a surprise for all of us. Homemade ice cream and sorbets had interesting flavors and fresh. Appetizers were better than main. I asked for pajun without the seafood, and it was good. Chapchae was a bit sweet for my liking, but it was good. Needs better signs for men's restroom because I could not find it easily. The servers spoke English, which was nice. The view was probably the best aspect of this place.

Good quality Korean food on top of a K-town office building with great NYC views. Nice space. The service is attentive and professional. We had the $54 beef bbq set meal. You can sample several types of beef, the server grills them at your table. Good portions. You also get some stews, tofu, kimchi and an egg soufflé sort of thing. Things add up quickly, ala carte menu is a bit pricey and $18 cocktails, but I’m sure the rent is high. There were quite a few dates we observed. Nice special occasion place.

You go for the view for sure!!! Food is not better than many on 32nt St at more reasonable prices. Service was a bit slow. I brought first time in NYC family to enjoy the view with Korean food. It was a great night out. I do recommend this place, sure to impress.

Korean BBQ at its height! Spectacular views and really tasty food. This is certainly a restaurant worth coming to. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive enough to make sure we were enjoying our meal but never overbearing. The hostesses were incredibly rude. I'm glad everyone else was nice because they did their best to ruin the experience. Besides that, everything was great. Unless you know exactly what you want, it's best to order one of the combo plates so you get to try several different pieces of meat instead of just one. Really a fun night out with excellent views!

I had dinner at Gannuri with my son after his graduation, and the experience was absolutely perfect. We had made a reservation in advance, which is definitely recommended as the place gets busy. The food was delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. What really stood out was the service — it was truly exceptional. The staff were attentive, professional, and made us feel very welcome throughout the evening. It was the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion. Highly recommend Gannuri for anyone looking for a top-notch Korean dining experience!

We went there on a Sunday, and we went there for Mother’s Day. It was enjoyable and the service was very good. What I would recommend is the A5 American Wagyu, the Marinated Beef, and The Salmon Crisp. The A5 Wagyu was from the Premium Set, and so was the Marinated Beef. I would recommend for a party of 4, 2 of the premium sets. The Salmon Crisp was delicious and the perfect amount of salt. Would definitely come back!

I’ve always loved this restaurant — I even celebrated my birthday here once! After traveling a lot, I hadn’t visited in about two years and was really looking forward to coming back. Unfortunately, this time the experience was a bit disappointing. We were seated but waited around five minutes without menus or attention. After calling someone over, we ordered water, but it never arrived before the waiter came to take our food order. My friend’s salad came out first, mine didn’t, and the wine we ordered never showed up. At one point, I was even served a dish I hadn’t ordered. Eventually, one of the managers noticed and took care of us — from that moment everything was great, and the wagyu was absolutely delicious. Still, all those small service issues added up and made the evening less enjoyable, especially since I’d been so excited to return.

The food was genuinely excellent—high-quality meats, great flavors, and everything cooked beautifully. You can tell a lot of care goes into the menu, and the overall taste really stood out. Unfortunately, the service felt a bit off. The pacing was very rushed, and we felt pressured to order dessert before we were ready, which took away from an otherwise great dining experience. With more relaxed service, this place would be outstanding.

Not to be that guy but I like in a Korean neighborhood across the river and get to try different KBBQ experiences. The food (we did the omakase) was very underwhelming. Especially when we netted out to $380 a person after it’s all said and done. Thank goodness it was a work thing and I didn’t have to foot the bill. Get the deconstruct snicker for dessert! Delicious

I faced some letdowns in this restaurant that drive me not to love it and hesitate on whether to recommend it or not. Firstly, not sure when during the reservation I went with booking the 5-course menu, and when we arrived, the hostess showed not even the slightest flexibility about going for an a la carte option, neither let us know if there was an a la carte option, nor explained how come we had booked a coursed menu. Maybe Sundays are coursed menu only, maybe Gaonnuri doesn’t have a menu per se, maybe I clicked on the coursed menu option while booking and the restaurant had everything planned and thus no chance for an a la carte option. I’ll never know because the hostess said absolutely nothing and she didn’t even seem to care. Secondly, before being shown to our table, we were warned that the place was fully booked and we couldn’t overextend our stay -we were allowed a 2-hour dinner; something odd considering we were having a coursed menu and the restaurant was somehow responsible for setting the pace. Ultimately, such kind of warnings make you feel more like the restaurant is looking forward to seeing you leave rather than to welcoming you. Not really fan of those kinds of places. And thirdly, although we went for the Wagyu beef (you’re not even served half a steak), the place never stopped feeling like 75% Korean BBQ and 25% top notch restaurant -if not less; and with that in consideration, I feel Gaonnuri is a bit overpriced. On the bright side, the view from Gaonnuri’s 39th floor was superb, even with gray and cloudy skies, dinning with the city at our feet accounted for a terrific experience. But, considering this is NYC we’re talking about, I bet there must be countless restaurants with similar if not better views.

Views with a Side of KBBQ: A Feast for the Eyes, Not Necessarily the Palate Soaring high above the city on the 39th floor, Gaonnuri is a New York destination that blends modern elegance with Korean barbecue traditions. The clean, modern decor and breathtaking panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline make it an Instagrammer's dream. It's the perfect spot to impress a date or anyone seeking a unique dining experience. The service is top-notch, and they've even managed to elevate the KBBQ experience to feel refined and luxurious. However, the food itself presents a different story. While it's not bad by any means, it doesn't quite live up to the rest of the experience. We opted for the omakase menu, featuring beautifully presented dishes and delightful amuse-bouches. Despite the stunning presentation, some dishes lacked depth of flavor. Surprisingly, the highlight wasn't even the meat (which, to their credit, boasts premium cuts). It was a simple vegetable salad, which speaks volumes. The banchan selection was also disappointingly limited, with basically just kimchi on offer. The Verdict: All About the View If you're willing to pay a premium for the stunning views and luxurious ambiance, Gaonnuri delivers. It's a great option for a unique NYC dining experience, but don't expect to be wowed by the food alone. While it's certainly Instagram-worthy, it might not satisfy your taste buds as much. In short: Views: Breathtaking! 5 stars Service & Ambiance: Top-notch! Feels luxurious. 5 stars Food: Not bad, but some dishes fall flat. Presentation is impressive, but flavor is a 3 out of 5. Value: It depends. You're paying for the experience, not necessarily the food. If that's what you prioritize, it's worth it. But KBBQ purists might be disappointed. Foodies, especially those with a love for Korean cuisine, may find the offerings underwhelming. The portions are modest as well, so don't go in expecting a feast. Ultimately, Gaonnuri is a place where the food, though decent, takes a backseat to the impressive backdrop.

M
Marie O

It was OK. Tbh, we felt a little rushed. I understand that there are reservations after us but I don’t think we needed to be reminded several times as we were aware the first time they told us. The food was tasty but the kimchi could be a lot better. You’re definitely paying for the view here.

J
J

Although we had some tasty dishes (the fried mushrooms were excellent), the meat portion was underwhelming. We ordered the premium set along with some appetizers. Ultimately this felt like a very Americanized/sanitized version of Korean BBQ. The banchan was pretty lackluster. The view is great, but if you don't manage to get a window seat then you are stuck with average food and high prices. This place is good for taking out of towners who want the facade of Korean BBQ in a nice setting.

It's about last night, new years eve, as we all wanted good food before new year strikes. But, it was a bummer, food brought to us was not what we anticipated. The portion of the meal was very small relative to others places I have eaten in. The pancake that I thought would be round, came only in 2 pieces. It's not worth the price. It didn't look like a pancake. When this came to my table, I was surprised with the portion and informed the waiter that we didn't order this , instead we have ordered the pancake. And, he said that was pancake. I was astounded with the portion and with the shape. All the other places have a bigger portion and they're filling. I even requested the manger if we could change our dish but he refused to do so. There's one restaurant in lexington ave, if we request them to change it then they will do it right away. Frankly, the taste of the food was okay, not like it made me have those epiphany, aha moment, like the taste resembled from my favorite other places. I would not recommend anyone, in retrospect. Fourth visit of mine was ok.

Sad to say I was quite disappointed. We were underwhelmed by the quality of meats relative to Cote and Hyun. Side dishes left a lot to be desired, and yes the view is nice, but you can get that at Manhatta or several other places. I would not be back.

I have many long-standing memories of this restaurant. When I was a student and younger, I used to visit often, probably about 10 years ago. After having my daughter, I also visited with her and my mother. I was young then, and sharing that moment with my mother from afar, the atmosphere felt wonderful, and everything seemed great. However, this time, we visited to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and I was disappointed in many ways. First, there were issues with the reservation. I booked through OpenTable and sent a confirmation email about three days before the reservation, including a question about alternative menu options since I do not eat meat. However, I did not receive a reply. Instead, I received an email saying the reservation was for a different date. I called to clarify, and after correcting the reservation, I was told that Manager Jason would respond to my dietary question, and the call ended. In the following days, I received more confirmation calls, but there were still issues with the reservation date. I felt very confused and frustrated, and I had to repeatedly confirm the correct date. I only received an answer regarding the pescatarian option the day before our reservation via a text from Jason. This whole process made me feel that the communication among staff was neither smooth nor professional, which was very disappointing. There were also several problems during the meal. First, one of the dishes contained a hair. We ordered the course menu but wanted to add an appetizer personally, and we were told it was too much and were not allowed to do so. During the meal, staff repeatedly asked, “Have you finished?” which made us feel rushed. We had two bottles of wine, but refilling and accessing the wine bar was inconveniently arranged. The dolsot bibimbap was also disappointing. The pork had a strong fishy smell, and the rice at the bottom of the dolsot, which should have been crispy, was simply oily and not crisp at all. The banchan were poor in quality; it seemed that the restaurant tried to make the Korean dishes appear fancy but ended up achieving form over substance. My partner could not finish the final galbi dish because it was too sweet, and overall, the dishes felt more like a display of variety than quality. Additionally, there appeared to be a group of loud patrons, and while my partner went to get something, I was left alone. Two intoxicated men approached me, touched my shoulder, and tried to talk to me. I was angry and asked them questions, and they quickly left, claiming they thought I was someone they knew. This incident compounded the discomfort I was already feeling from the food and service. The restaurant was sparsely populated, but the service, food, and overall experience did not meet expectations. I have loved this restaurant for a long time, so this experience was very disappointing. I believe that both the Ga-Yeon restaurant in Fort Lee and Gaon Nuri in Manhattan need significant improvements in food quality and service.

Went for January 2026 NYC Restaurant Week. It’s a beautiful space and the ambiance is nice. Wouldn’t say the menu was worth $60 per person plus tax and tip. Starters: Root Vegetable Salad and Tuna Tartare Mains: Black Tiger Shrimp and Black Cod Gui Desserts: Sesame Ice Cream and Yuzu Sorbet Root Vegetable Salad: root veggies and greens were fresh and well-selected. The dressing was overly sweet with no acid to balance it out. Tuna Tartare: was swimming in red pepper paste with nothing to counterbalance. Black Cod Gui: good, but the grilled mushroom was not fully cooked Black Tiger Shrimp: we were excited for this but it was disappointing. The shrimp came fresh and were grilled for 15-20 minutes in front of us. When we tried to eat them, the tips of the shrimp were still ice cold and translucent, so we asked for the tips to be grilled. The server’s body language indicated that they didn’t think we were being reasonable. The *entire* shrimp were grilled for another 10 minutes and were clearly overcooked. We asked for new shrimp. We had cut apart some shrimp to check rawness. The server took only the three whole shrimp and brought back precisely three to grill again. They were grilled for 15-20 minutes again. Another server grilled these and asked whether they were grilled to our satisfaction. They looked fine and we clarified that we had asked for new shrimp not because we had weird preferences for grilled shrimp but because we didn’t want to eat raw shrimp. This server didn’t seem to know that that was the reason for the new shrimp. Desserts: we preferred the yuzu sorbet. This seemed like a lazy dessert. The restaurant week menu lists “chef’s choice” but it seems that wasn’t available during our visit

overpriced and very greasy. Cod was very fishy and poor quality. Lobster rice was super greasy. So was glass noodle dish. Dumplings were ok…just been sitting around a while. We had no alcoholic dri…

If you want Americanized Korean food that feels like a cheap buffet with poor service come here! They won’t take away dishes when you’re done with them, give you Americanized versions of Korean side dishes, give you dried out meat, and cheap table salt to pair along with your rubber meat. Honestly probably the worst kbbq I’ve had at these nyc Korean restaurants. As a Korean I highly disapprove, so Asian to Asian stay far away and save your money. Honestly I hope a manager reaches out so I can give them a few pointers and a wake up call. Service- felt inexperienced 3/10 Meats- meat was not up to standard and the samjang and salt was awful, their special seasoning was just cheap salt and pepper 2/10 Side dishes- most basic kimchi, what is that basic American salad so weird, also they bring out 1 serving of all to a table of 5? Way too little, should be common sense to bring more side dishes to a big table. 3/10

Overall very disappointing for our anniversary. I do want to say that I did ask to speak to a manager but was told that they have left. Instead, we were directed to a senior server and offered champagne as an apology, which I felt was a cop out. Things that went wrong: - dirty plate with what seems like a dead bug which was brought back, but server first said “oh that’s just on the bottle plate, it’s fine”) - very mediocre food - changing servers constantly. We have maybe 4 different servers and some were very confused explaining the dish. One person put our meat on the grill and another removed it - HORRRIBLE ambience, there was a long table beside us constantly laughing, screaming, snorting??? And we were sat less than a meter away from them Overall it is just not what a tasting menu should be. Let alone one that has INCLUDED gratuity. View is also just ok, the tables are further away from the window than in their photos

Great view, but the meat quality was not good. $195 for 7- 1oz cuts Of the 7 cuts, 2 were of acceptable quality, the rest were tough and stringy. I'm unsure how this could be but some of our party didn't even finish their meat. The soup was underseasoned and did not taste like a seafood soup, severly lacking depth. They did not have daikon wrap and when we asked for lettuce and garlic, the end of the garlic clove was not trimmed, Kitchen fail. We had 3 diffrent severs through our meal which made the experience fragmented and less cohesive. Finally the Value was just not there by any means. I understand you pay for the view, but the food in general was inadequate at best. Would not recommend

I made a reservation for my mother’s 58th birthday and selected the $195/person Omakase menu by the window, advertised as featuring premium cuts of meat. Unfortunately, the entire experience was disappointing. The quality and quantity of the meat were underwhelming at this price point—only the A5 Japanese Wagyu was decent, and it appeared in pnly 2 courses out of the 9. The banchan were mediocre at best: garlic scapes, kimchi, and another kimchi with no flavor, more like wet cabbage. They were served only once, unlike every other Korean BBQ spot on the block where flavorful sides are unlimited and replenished. The meal began with a pumpkin soup, an overly sweet salad, and a tiny tuna biscuit. I’ve eaten at excellent restaurants across three continents, and this meal did not meet basic expectations of taste or value. We were also overwhelmed having four different servers presenting tiny portions rapidly, speaking quickly over loud music—making it difficult to understand anything. The atmosphere felt pretentious, while the food did not justify it. We ordered bulgogi for the entrée to take home because by then we just wanted to leave. It was the worst bulgogi I’ve had, and it appears we only received one portion—confirming that the serving sizes are extremely small. The dessert also failed to reflect the “elevated” dining experience they promote. Packaged food from HMart or Woorijip is honestly more satisfying. Spending nearly $600 for two people and leaving hungry felt insulting. We left feeling disappointed, hungry, and cheated. We will not be returning.
