Opinions de Son & Garden Alameda De Las Pulgas
When food tastes just as good as it looks, you know you'll be back to try more things. There's a reason for the line so be patient and wait or get there early for breakfast as opening time, even on a weekend morning, isn't terribly crowded. The eggs were cooked to custardy perfection and the fruit was all freshly cut. Loved all the floral touches.
I’ve been here quite a few times and loved it each time. The food here is delicious, I mean the Brunch menu. I have yet to try their lunch options. They only do walk ups at this location so during the weekend it can take up up to an hour and weekdays, you’ll get seated quickly except during the lunch rush. They half indoor and outdoor seating but the area is covered, you’ll see what I mean when you get there. The staff are really nice and attentive, I don’t think I have gone thirsty here when my water keeps getting filled by them. Lastly, there is an insta-worthy flower wall with a unicorn, it is small and there can be a line of people waiting for their turn, so you will have to get a picture with the wall, it is necessary! Lol.
Had brunch with two friends on a Saturday. This place gets crowded, so reservations are a must. The Son & Garden restaurant is located on the patio along the outside of their sister restaurant. The day we went, it was cold and rainy, but they had appropriate coverings and heater lamps....so well secured, we got hot! The food was delicious, very well presented and service was impeccable. (They were well staffed, and my water glass was never went empty!) The venue also doesn't disappoint and is in line with their vibes to all their other Bay Area sister restaurants! One of my GFs is a vegetarian, and we were pleasantly surprised that there were several items on the menu to meet her palate, and they were also accommodating if she wanted to add or remove anything. We had the vegetarian omelette that was super fluffy, a scramble, and a salmon benedict. We also shared in the middle of the table the rainbow waffle... this was pretty much dessert, it was a big crunchy Belgian waffle topped with marscapone cheese and ice cream cone filled with vanilla topped with a lollipop, whipped cream, blue cotton candy and drizzled with maple syrup! 😍 We will definitely be back and they have to make this place our meeting spot!! Loved our food and overall experience.
We've been to their Farmhouse Kitchen restaurant and had a great experience so we wanted try Son & Garden. Initially we wanted to go their SF location but they were fully booked so we went to the Menlo Park location. We really enjoyed the festive decor, it's so colorful and whimsical! The food was delicious and the presentation matched the gala ambiance. We'll definitely be returning to try the lunch menu!
It was our first time to Son & Garden and we really enjoyed ourselves! The food is tasteful and the presentation will have you 😍 they also have a cute set up where you can take brunch pics with your family/friends and have a ring light for better lighting. Highly recommend Son & Garden for brunch!
I was introduced to this place today, and loved the experience! The food was delicious, the vibe was just right, and great service! My Lobster Benedict was full of flavor, only complaint being the bread wasn’t an English muffin. The waitress kept refilling our waters, and the alcohol was great, too!! I’m definitely coming back!
I am in love with this restaurant. The Vibes, the food and atmosphere is top notch. Me and my girlfriends spend a Lovely Brunch at this location. The staffs are amazing and very friendly. They were able to show and explain to us the menu and the house specials for the day. We opted to sit outside and it has a cozy vibes embraced with lots of colorful flowers. Food is excellent as each and every dish is prepared with Love and art. I am obsessed with their blueberry panacotta pancake with warm maple syrup, also try their sakura latte- it resembles like a rose latte, creamy and aromatic💕
Had a wonderful brunch with my girlfriends. Drinks were creative and fun, especially the one with the ice bear!! The food was good too! Stuffed french toast was so delicious. We ended up sharing entrees as everything on menu looked so good! Service was excellent as well! Do advise people to come early and have your whole party with you to avoid delays!
Very cute and tasty food. The overall aesthetic of the restaurant is so good. We got the Korean Benedict, morning beef stew, fried french toast, bear belly bacon, and biscuits. The only item thought was just okay was the French toast. Not because it was bad but it was a bit too intense like thought Il'd be at death's door if ate another bite. Taste wise it tastes like funnel cake so not bad. The biscuits with honey butter was super good. Beef in the morning stew was super soft and tender. For drinks we got the In the Forest, cloud 9, and Sakura latte. My favorite was the Sakura latte but the other two were pretty good as well. We preferred the In the Forest to Cloud 9.
I had the pleasure of visiting Son & Garden for breakfast, and I must say that it was a delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that immediately made me feel at home. The menu offered a fantastic selection of breakfast options, ranging from classic favorites to unique and creative dishes that I had never tried before. I ended up choosing the Smoked Salmon Benedict, and it was delicious! The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the portion size was just right. I also appreciated the quality of the ingredients, which were fresh and locally sourced. The service was exceptional, with attentive staff who were friendly and accommodating throughout my visit. The prices were a lit bit high. Overall, I highly recommend Son & Garden to anyone looking for a nice breakfast spot that offers a fantastic culinary experience in a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
The food is beautiful and delicious however the wait time was horrendous on Mother's Day of course so reserve if you could. Other than that the food was definitely yummy by the time we ate after another 20 minutes of ordering. Just because of the beauty & color we knew it was going to be chef's kiss NOT bc our stomach & eyes were hungry. Magnificent!
One of the best places for breakfast I've been to in a really long time!!! Very cozy and the ambience is so beautiful!!! The good was great and the portion was also good. The mixed potatoes were crunchy on the outside and super soft inside! The crab omlette was light and fluffy! Tea was served in a cute teapot and a delicate teacup! The manager Cake ( yes, his nickname is Cake) was super efficient as was our hostess Christen. All in all a wonderful experience and I'm certainly going back there again!
One of the best and most chic breakfast/brunch places in the town. The outdoor seating is very airy and pleasant. The menu is quite exciting and elaborate. The customer service was amazing. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Must try the beautiful Brioche French toast. It is full of flavors bursting into your mouth. The best part of this restaurant, besides the ambiance and food, is the photo room to get some unique clicks at this chic place.
The food at Son and Garden was yummy! We got the Hawaii scramble, the ricotta pancakes, and a cappuccino. The scramble was wonderful with the spicy aioli and the shrimp to top it off and the scramble itself was loaded with spinach and other crunchy greens which was great! The ricotta pancakes were hearty, yet fluffy, and they were delightfully delicious to eat. The cappuccino was very sweet and my partner enjoyed it, she said it was sweet and warm. The service was good, we got there a bit close to their closing time, so we were told to order first and then we’d be seated (which I’m keen on anyways). The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. We were seated outside so it was a bit chilly the day we went, but the restaurant had tarps to block out a bit of the chill. Definitely enjoyed our food, and would come back on a warmer day!
Great vegetarian options. The ambience is average, due to outdoor seating and shared restaurant space with Thai restaurant. Tiramisu latte is very average, less sweet but not too great.
Great experience here, had the chicken panini and lavender spritzer. Chicken was cooked tender and soft. The fries were thin and crispy and the aioli sauce delicious. Spritzer was light and just the right amount of syrup. The place was not too busy. Park near the Caltrain station for free and it’s a a short walk over.
Food was plated beautifully and everything seemed fresh. Reasonable price given the portion size as well. While overall food was good, nothing I’ll be craving. A couple of notes if you care about the details - potatoes were a little too salty, pancakes when paired without fruit were quite dry, blueberry biscuit was substituted for the ciabatta mentioned on the menu without telling us beforehand. Overall a great place for brunch vibes! Perfect indoor/outdoor type seating good for any size group with florals. We went early on a Saturday and there weren’t too many people until closer to when we were leaving but they do take reservations if you’re on a schedule and are planning for something closer to prime brunch time. Staff was friendly, water glasses kept full, anticipated needs, and paid the bill right at the table.
I visited Son and Garden after seeing it all over Instagram, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Parking can be a bit difficult, but the restaurant is conveniently close to the Caltrain station. If you sit outside, just be aware that it can get noisy since it’s right next to the tracks, but the beautiful décor makes the atmosphere enjoyable overall. The food was very good, and surprisingly, one of my favorite dishes was the fish and I’m not usually a fan of fish dishes, so that says a lot. The drinks were also very aesthetically pleasing and well-made. It is a little on the pricier side. The space is large for a Bay Area restaurant, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and it does get very busy, so I’d recommend making a reservation. Overall, it’s a beautifully decorated spot with great food, solid drinks, and a lively atmosphere. I would definitely go again.
This brunch spot has very good food. My husband and I really enjoyed the meals. Eggs are very well prepared with CRISPY color potato. Not many restaurants in Bay area make the egg and potato right (I really hate overcooked eggs and soft hash browns). We order chicken waffles and Hawaii omelette. Crispy chicken with right seasonings. Big portions on both dishes. The biscuit is a good. My drink is good too. We came on a weekday and found relaxed atmosphere. I'll be back for the brunch and drink again.
Great spot for breakfast or brunch with friends! Has a very large covered outdoor patio with fake flowers hanging from the roof, which creates a lovely ambience. Lots of tables so you can fit groups of all sizes. Long menu of food options including typical breakfast selections as well as some unique dishes. Fun & fancy drink options, including one with an ice bear, and a mimosa flight that looks like a test tube tray.
This is a lovely place to hang out with friends. Clean and good background music, not too loud. They have variety of coffee options and you will have trouble deciding food because everything sounds so good. I highly suggest the potatoes as a side, they are crunchy and soft, the best potatoes I have ever tried, no kidding. The staff is very nice and they even helped us taking a nice picture of our group. The only thing that surprised me was that we were charged with an extra 20% automatically for “large party” since we were six. This is besides the service fee, which we happily paid because of the great service.
The flavors were so good, you'll consider licking your plate clean. I didn't do it. But the thought will cross your mind. Super cute decor and photogenic plating for those of you more interested in pictures than food. But you'll enjoy the food too.
Great brunch spot in Menlo Park area. Scrumptious food and gorgeous presentation. Great for your eyes and your belly :) Highly recommended.
Such a gorgeous spot for a girls’ brunch! This location — outdoor patio seating only, but they had plenty of heat lamps to keep it cozy. The floral decor and garden vibes were beautiful, and the service was amazing — super attentive and friendly! We ordered the Son & Garden Omelet, Bibimbap in a stone pot, and the Ricotta Pancakes — everything was so flavorful and beautifully plated. Loved sipping hot tea in the cutest tea sets, and of course, rounds of mimosas and Aperol spritz is a must!
If you're looking for an over-the-top aesthetically pleasing brunch spot to share on your social media, you already know this is the place. Part of the Farmhouse Kitchen Conglomerate, this Son & Daughter location is honestly better than the San Francisco one. You're here for the gram and to hang with your besties, but the food isn't too bad either. Although some of the fusion dishes can be questionable. The menu is a mix of some traditional brunch items with an Asian fusion mix. The staff is friendly and fast with a few small hiccups we experienced during our last visit. Overall, while I wished the execution and taste were up to par with the visuals, you can't deny the aesthetics of the place.
Great location, easy parking and outdoor seating is spacious. Came 30 mins after opening, no wait on a Sunday. French toasts were pretty looking but nothing too special to the taste. Egg Benedict was great. There were asparagus between the bread and egg. Potatoes were seasoned perfectly and crispy. The drink, lost in the frost, was very refreshing, made with kiwi, sparkling wine and lemon, came with an adorable watermelon bear. Staff offered plastic cups and coloring supplies for kids, very thoughtful.
Love the food here as always. They always provide quality food and presentation it so well to welcome the guest. I love Tokyo cocktail which is the special here. You can reserve special afternoon tea set 48 hrs in advance. Beautiful decoration and the only downside it’s the Cal Train station next to it which is very loud since all seating areas are outdoor. However, I would love to come back to try out different dishes next time. They have a well decorated room for taking photos.
Great service and great food all around. The Morning Stew was so moist and tender. The mashed potatoes below them were on-par with the quality of the meat! The fried chicken Benedict was delicious, as well as the Korean Benedict. Will definitely be returning here to try the cocktails, as we ordered champagne this time around.

Summary: Food looks prettier than it tastes. The tea cart is $110 for 2 people. It’s very expensive for the quality. The cakes are overly sweet, the fruit looks like it was cut the day before, and the rose buds were bruised and ugly. I only ate one bite of the egg sandwich because it wasn’t good. I know people come here for the photos, but for the price, the food needs to taste as good as it looks! Staff here and at their sister restaurants are always friendly and attentive. The restaurant decor is beautiful. Staff deserves 5 stars!
Delicious food and pleasant atmosphere. There are covers of popular songs playing at a moderate volume but the train station so close by can be a bit disruptive. I do wish they offered group orders for tea, but it's still pretty fun to watch it bloom! The restaurant advertises as Instagram friendly, and even from my amateur photos, you can tell it's true! (Please don't be one of THOSE types and ask for a discount though, they have plenty of exposure!) The flavors and unique offerings are well worth the trip if you are just in it for the food though!
When you try a new place- specially one that is making so much noise-for the first time, aren’t you exited but nervous? Nervous because you want to love the place, like most people are, but you also don’t want to get your hopes up to be disappointed by one more restaurant that raves about being original, creative, artistic, and imaginative. Only to reveal that is just a marketing technique to bump up the price while service and food is closer to a corporate restaurant than a local original. We showed up to Son & Garden pretty much feeling the same way, more exciting than nervous tbh and it didn’t disappoint. Everything was amazing. Each plate beautifully put together, although not newly invented dishes they are redefine and pleasing. Come on,deep fried french toast with mascarpone, matcha pancakes, or cotton candy on a drink with an edible butterfly, oh, and mix in the cotton candy and watch it change color… Everything was perfectly cooked and mixed, you can taste that all plates are made with fresh quality ingredients. Son & Garden is creating an experience that plays out beautifully with every aspect of the place, the aesthetics, the menu, the plating, and the people. I’m really tempted to give them five star BUT I believe a five star is for excellent service, -which was provided- excellent product , - also provided- and consistency- which I will only see with time and will obviously update if necessary. Prices are also spot on in my opinion considering the great food and service. Obviously in a place like this you need to do some planing or you’ll be looking at some wait time. If you haven’t been you need to…..
This one is located right across a Menlo Park Caltrain Station. They have only a few parking spots in front of their restaurant and the rest is either for the train station or other business (just FYI). Oh they’re only open during brunch hours (9am - 3pm). I am not from the area but wanted to see what all the hype was about. Clearly, It’s a beautiful Ambiance with flowers surrounding the restaurant. When I made the reservations, it kept saying they only had patio seating ONLY?!? There’s a spot for photography (selfies, group pics, Queen pic) whatever you want to call it lol. The food according to my family was enjoyable and it was ok. My entree though was very good. I ordered the Bone-in Short Ribs with Kimchi fried rice. The meat was so tender it fell off the bone. It was juicy, and had kind of a sweet savory taste. Loved it. The kimchi fried rice was perfect! The service was great. No issues no complaints. The price but a bit high for me. I thought it was ridiculous that they charged an additional $10 just for egg whites and $10 for two pieces of bacon. The drinks were very good! The overall experience was good but I don’t think I’d make a special trip again (unless invited to a party). Didn’t see what the hype was about except that it was a really beautiful restaurant.
If you're looking for a brunch spot with a unique style and a bright and colorful decor, then look no further than "Son & Garden". This cafe has quickly become one of my favorite brunch spots in town, thanks to its incredible food and stunning ambiance. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a burst of color and energy that is sure to brighten up your day. The walls are decked with neon signs in bright shades of pink, orange, and red, with cheerful rose decals and grapevines adorning the windows and tabletops. And the food? It's just as impressive as the decor. The menu is full of unique and creative dishes that you won't find anywhere else. But it's not just the food that sets this place apart - the service is also exceptional. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and eager to make sure you have a great experience. And with plenty of outdoor seating available, it's the perfect spot to enjoy a lazy brunch on a sunny day. Overall, I would highly recommend this cute little brunch place to anyone looking for a unique and memorable brunch experience. The bright and colorful decor, coupled with the delicious and creative food, makes for an experience that is truly one-of-a-kind.
Definitely on the pricier side but really yummy food and a super instagram worthy restaurant. The plating is amazing and they've built a room for all you Instagrammers to get your shots in. Got the morning beef stew and it was absolutely delicious. The beef ripped apart so easily and the sauce really married all the ingredients together. Perfect size as well for brunch. All that said, most of their items are quite expensive, so I'll probably be coming back only for special occasions
Beautiful place with beautiful food! Been here twice for brunch with friends and it has met all expectations of a great brunch place. Really good vegetarian options including omelette, burger, and sandwich. The quantity is a lot and everything I have tasted so far is super delicious! Go early if you don’t want to wait in queue or else be ready to wait for some time to get seated. I tried their popping boba mimosa which was basically sparkling wine with popping boba so I don’t like it much. The Bloody Mary was also not as impressive. But I definitely recommend this place for food. Loved the French Toast, veg burger and omelette
We arrived around 10:37am for a brunch. The line was pretty short and we got a table within 10 minutes. It was a bit chilly and windy outside but their heater worked great. The food and dream options were all pretty cute and creative. We loved the lobster Benedict especially appreciated the options of getting half/full portion.
I came, I saw, I devoured. I'd seen this place on social media and been wanting to check it out for a while. It did not disappoint. The decor was really unique and cool with all of the flowers everywhere. The drinks looked really cool, but they were a bit too sweet (except the green one). Service was good and the food was great! I had the Short Rib Benedict. I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of it. I'm not a runny egg guy personally, but that dish was banging. Everyone else enjoyed their selections as well. The price was a bit high, but worth the experience in my opinion. Would definitely come back and recommend to others. Food: 4.5/5 Drinks: 4/5 Price: 3.5/5 Service: 4.4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Overall: 4.3/5
Came here for brunch on a Sunday with the family. Food and service were great. Presentation and colors of the food were super cute and instagrammable. Only thing I didnt like was the ambiance. The brunch is all on the outside covered patio which is large but not nice like the inside of the restuarabt I think they have that for dinner only.
Came for a dear friends birthday. At this location, we basically sat outside around another restaurant. We took pictures in front with their well known giraffe, but they still had a Christmas tree in the background in the middle of January. Please take that down already. I've been here many years ago and there were beautiful flowers on every table. This time around, there was nothing pretty as far as ambiance, bring back the flowers on the tables. That's what once made going there to sit outside of another restaurant special. Little touches. Or meals were delicious. The visual display was nice, just not the same spectacular buildup as the food once was. Even our coffee and cocoa once came in a teddy bear clear cup, now it's a regular cup. Where did all the fun looking drinks go?? Our service was friendly; although forgotten a request. Overall, not too delighted to return; I've been here 3x, sadly this was the least excited I've ever felt.
The salmon eggs Benedict was 5/5. The fried chicken eggs Benedict was a little dry so 4/5. Overall a beautiful brunch spot with a variety of options. No wait on a Saturday morning.
Super cute and aesthetic brunch place! We made reservations so there was no wait. The coffee and seasonal sakura latte came in cute cups and tasted pretty good. We ordered the Son&Garden Omelet and the Salmon Benedict. The omelet was really tasty and while the salmon benedict was good I felt that it lacked some extra flavour and have had better elsewhere. Overall a good meal and the staff was very nice!
Have been here twice. The food was ok, got an overcooked Benedict for once. Also the service was a little understaffed (no coffee refill whole time) They do have a wide selection of items on the menu. And a lot of drink options and chefs specials, which are a plus.
It was a really cute place just don’t sit by the door, Its really cold and windy. The food was pretty good but the best thing were the potatoes, they are amazing, hot cocoa was nothing to bag about, just ordinary hot cocoa. Also, If you are going for the table aesthetics, I have bad news for you, looks like They might be running out of the super cute dishes cuz they did not look like the ones on the picture at least for us it was just ordinary ware but the place itself is really cute and they have a little room to take pics with your friends if thats what you want. Service is really friendly and polite

The presentation, service, and atmosphere were great but the food is mediocre at best. The scone was a bit hard and textured like a muffin. The madeleine was also similar to muffin and not much flavor to it. Ham and cheese danish was hard and cold. Other desserts on the menu like macaron, and pastries were very sweet that you could only take a bite. For the price, it's good value and get more than what you paid for. Just don't expect it to be on par with other restaurants that serve something similar. Only recommend coming here on some special occasions for the pics on social media but don't come here expecting good-tasting food.
For a special occasion, my two friends and I decided to visit this restaurant known for its garden setting. I was hoping for a beautiful, flowery ambiance, but unfortunately, that was lacking. The food, however, was decent. The crispy chicken was quite good, but the other two dishes were just okay. The crab dish, priced at $29, was particularly disappointing and didn’t feel worth the cost. Overall, the food seemed overpriced for the quality. For one entrée and a drink, it came to almost $50, including tips ,I feel the prices don’t match the food quality

Horrible Experience !!! Felt discriminated!!! We were a party of 6 and waited a couple of mins for seating. Make sure you have a reservation before visiting the restaurant. Food, drinks and ambience was decent. The lady who was assigning seats is a bit rude and extremely unwelcoming!!! The only thing that put me off was after some time when we were almost done with the food but 2 of my friends were still working on the food & drinks, the waiters kept approaching towards our table and kept staring. Even the lady assigning tables kept standing right next to our tables - as if they were indicating us to get up. At the end, the waiter literally started joining another table with the table I was on. He left and came back after few mins and again removed the table. Later he again joined back the table and removed. There was constant noise around this and later I asked him if he wants us to leave. He apologised and mentioned that there is bigger party arriving and hence he was joining the table and keeping it ready. Like seriously!!! He also mentioned that he was asked by the lady to arrange the tables!!! Few of us are still working on the food and you are literally join tables with ours. This entire experience just put me off and I just wanted to leave. Not sure if we were discriminated based on color.
My Frisco omelet was not tasty and the pico de gallo was stingy and tasteless. But the real kicker was the they put sugar in their butter on the toast. The toast was a nice whole grain country bread but I really don't want sugar on my toast. The waitress said that they didn't have butter without sugar in it. Serioiusly? The decaf Americano was good though.
We went here for the first time for brunch today, and unfortunately, it will be our last! We had reservations and were seated quickly. It was crowded and really noisy. Our server recommended the Crabby Omelet to my wife, which she ordered. Although it was flavorful, there was just a couple of tea spoons of Dungeness crab meat on top and none inside. For $29.95, we'd expect more crab meat! I had the Ricotta Pancakes, which were very good. We also had a Bloody Mary that was good, but instead of adding a celery that usually comes with a Bloody Mary, this one just had the celery leaves. Our server, wasn't good at all! She never once came by to ask how everything was. We eat at lots of restaurants and this has never happened before. She didn't come by until it was time to pay. Also we ordered two drinks to start and when she brought them, she gave me my wife's drink and mine to my wife!
