Came here prior to going to a concert at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham. Checked out the menu and we went upstairs to the restaurant. The restaurant was cosy and warm with a relaxing ambiance. The waiters were all dressed in matching uniforms and, though they were willing to spend time chatting and having some banter. MJ and his colleagues kept up a professional attitude. We ordered lamb laziz lohari and a chicken dhansak. Cooked to perfection, flavoursome and amazing. To summarise, this restaurant is fantastic, the great service and amazing food is a package to be enjoyed. This is now our favourite Indian restaurant in this area of Birmingham.
Great resturant. Food was very nice and staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our evening very much. Will be back if visiting Birmingham.
Hidden gem of Indian restaurant, upstairs overlooking canal, smart and comfortable interior, great tasting food, and good service. Shoutout for Ray our great waiter. I will be back!
What a little gem! This curry was absolutely delicious, it was hot, tasty and all around fantastic. The chicken was tender and juicy, the sauce was perfect (I had Madras) love it hot but not to the point it takes away the taste but this was spicy and extremely tasty. The service was fantastic, the gent we had was funny, chatty and caring. If you want somewhere you'll go back to time and time again, go there! We were a table of 8! and they accommodated us without a booking, drinks was fast and always asked if we wanted more. I will definitely be back whenever I visit Birmingham. I didn't get alot of pics due to enjoying it so much 😁
Lovely discovery on a trip with my colleague to Birmingham. We were accommodated when we turned up as a walk-in. We were given an excellent table with a canal view (especially nice to look out over the water and sparkling lights). And the food was very reasonably priced and utterly excellent. What finished it off was the attentive and caring service from the staff - special shout out to Ray, who made sure we had everything we needed and was a gem.
The meal was truly exceptional, a delightful experience from start to finish. Every dish was prepared with obvious care and the flavors were exquisite. The staff's attentiveness and warm hospitality enhanced the entire dining experience. It was a pleasure to enjoy such wonderful food in such a pleasant atmosphere. We look forward to returning soon.
Very polite staff with fast and efficient service without the slightest feeling of being rushed. A spacious restaurant on the first floor with views overlooking the canal. The food was that of a classic tasty Indian with reasonable pricing, especially for the city centre. Very enjoyable, would return!!
Fantastic Experience at Barajee. Had an amazing meal at Barajee. The food was absolutely delicious—full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was outstanding! The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. The service was fast and efficient without feeling rushed. The atmosphere was great, and it’s clear they take pride in both their food and customer service. I’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for top-quality Indian cuisine in Birmingham!
This place gets 5 stars all round from me. It was my first time in Birmingham for a business trip, so I was eating alone. I came across Barajee and had to try my favourite chiken Balti dish. I wasn't disappointed. The garlic nan was also amazing. I asked for a garlic rice that wasn't on the menu and they were more then happy to make it for me. My waiter, Ray gave great service and I will defo be back the next time I visit Birmingham. In fact I will recommend this place to everyone I know.
Second time. I've eaten here when visiting Birmingham. First time with a big group and secind time solo and with times blew my socks off. I can't think of ever having a better Indian meal anywhere. This place really is a gem. The staff are amazing, they aren't overbearing but are so on the ball it's remarkable. Tonight I got a table with this dream of a view. I can't wait to come back next time I'm in Brum and can't recommend enough!
Located on Birmingham’s bustling Broad Street, Barajee Indian Restaurant offers a blend of classical Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine in a charming, canal-side setting. I had a table at the window,so i had a great view.During my visit, I enjoyed the Chicken Tandoori and Chicken Biryani. The ambience at Barajee is warm and elegant, with a relaxing view of the canals adding to the experience. The staff were attentive and professional, enhancing the overall dining experience. Overall, Barajee is a reputable choice for Indian dining in Birmingham, blending tradition with modern dining comfort.
Lovely food, ambience and service from Barajee! Ray is an absolute joy! It was smiles all throughout, with my friends and I being offered free shots of baileys 😄. Will defo come back again. Try the chefs king prawn platter!
The food was great and the place feels very fancy though it’s not too pricey. Service was great, Ray was very nice and always smiling! Would recommend, it’s a gem in the mist of Broad Street’s mess!
Beautiful dining facility that exuded warmth and comfort. The food quality was exceptional, with each dish bursting with amazing flavors that showcased the authentic taste of India. The portion sizes were also very generous, ensuring that I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make my dining experience memorable. Moreover, the restaurant's location near the canals was absolutely fantastic, offering a picturesque view from the window that added to the overall charm of the place.
Amazing! The service was warm, welcoming, professional and polite. Akmal was especially a 5 star staff member with his chatty yet professional manner his customer service is a credit to the company. The food is fantastic! The starters had the lightest of batter, full of flavour, no grease (which is rare)! Delicious. The naan was fluffy and fresh. The mains were perfect in size/big and yet again full of flavour. By far the best Indian we have ever had!!! Thank you for our wonderful meal. 💛💛
A welcoming service excellent food and a wonderful experience My photos do not do the meal justice but we’ll be back xx
Had a great meal at Barajee. Was visiting Birmingham and searched for Indian restaurants, they have a few reviews stating the customer service is poor and the staff are rude but we had the complete opposite experience. All the staff were friendly and welcoming even adjusting some of our dishes we ordered to our liking. Everything we ordered was delicious and the view form our table was lovely overlooking the canal. We would definitely recommend and would go back again.
Great place, the food is awesome, the staff are great and the view is amazing. Ray is brilliant!
Nice ambience. Amazing food. Friendly stuff.
Sooooo nice gorgeous food lovely staff can't wait to return we have recently tried a lot of Indian restaurants in Birmingham but this beats them all ❤️
Food was excellent. Ray and the whole team were excellent. Great job
The best brunch we have ever eaten, staff fantastic a wonderful experience. Fully recommended. Will visit again soon.
Great restaurant. It’s my third time visiting. I always come here when I visit Birmingham. The staff are brilliant. I will return.
Beautiful restaurant and the food did not disappoint, it was one of the best restaurants we have been to and the staff were lovely.
Had a great meal, really nice and friendly staff - Ray was brilliant, a legend - thank you
I like a curry and eat a lot of them. This is the best I've ever had. Cannot recommend enough
Great early doors curry before a gig at Utilita. Prompt, polite service, delicious curry and sides. Couldn’t avoid the music pumping from the bar downstairs but it didn’t distract us. Nice to get away above the hustle of the busy road/area.
Came here for an early dinner before a concert and came here as the reviews were good and it’s proximity to the utilita arena. Entrance is on the Main Street and then you go upstairs to a nice open, clean room. Pleasant welcome and offered a drink - cobra on draught and a white wine. We ordered a main course dish from the specials , some bhajis (saag and mushroom and some papadums with relish. The papadums came quickly and there was a bit of a wait for the main courses, plus the mushroom bhaji never arrived but an onion bhaji instead, which we sent back. The quality and quantity was excellent. Overall the cost was just under £30 each for 2 of us for a main course and 2 drinks each; so mid-price
Stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday night on a solo trip with work. Was quickly shown to a table. I ordered the chicken jalfrezi with a garlic naan and onion bhajis with a pint of Cobra and a coke. The Jalfrezi and bhajis were very good, the bread was great but could have done with some ghee or melted butter with the garlic which was diced on top. The waiters and service were good and there’s a nice view over the canal if you’re lucky enough to get the right table. It came to around £30, which I think was good value.
This restaurant never fails to give great food & service our last visit was with family they had never been here before and loved the food so freshly cooked and so tasty if your looking for a good tasty curry this is the place to go highly recommend 😋
We had tandoori chicken main with pilau rice ...it was very tasty and hit the spot...service was amazing they knocked 10% because other person said the sauce wasnt spicy enough ...the only complaint i have was toilet seat was broken in the ladies and pinched my leg and drier didnt work is open until 1 am
Went to this restaurant last night was greeted and sat next to a window. The waiter who served us came across as.quite abrupt however continued with our order. Food was amazing, plates could do with being heated. Food was hot, tasty and fresh. The same waiter then talks loudly and starts rearranging tables. Kind off killed.the ambience. It's not.expensive this waiter needs to be a little more polite, not talk so loudly and not rearrange.tables. I would go back again as food and price are
Went in on a Sunday and it was really quiet. Service was efficient and fast. Food was a bit of a mixed bag. Two of our party said theirs was "fine" - they had the apparent award winner and said it didn't taste like anything that could win awards. My lamb dish was ok. Supposed medium hot but wasn't. Tasty enough but not exactly rich and complex. The naans were, likewise, ok. Usually spread with ghee, these were not and a bit dry. But perfectly ok. My partner said her biryani was the best she'd ever had, though!
Disappointing Experience We walked into Barajee as casual diners, and as soon as we mentioned we didn’t have a booking, the staff’s tone became noticeably cold and dismissive. No one asked about allergies or dietary preferences, and when we requested food recommendations, we were met with a blunt “no.” Interestingly, once I started taking notes for this review, the tone of service shifted — suddenly more polite and attentive, which came off as performative. Food: • Condiments were overly sweet. • Chicken Pakora lacked seasoning. The chicken was cooked fine, but the flavor was bland and the plating unimpressive. • Lamb Tikka was cold, chewy, and tasted microwaved. Not tender and poorly presented. • Chicken Madrasa was hot and the chicken was well-cooked — probably the best part of the meal. • Garlic Naan was sweet, not crunchy, and lacked butter. At the end of the meal, we were given cheap-tasting chocolates and hot towels. The beer was standard. When the server asked how the food was, I gave honest feedback. He responded by saying that the food is “only targeted to few people,” which was an unprofessional and unnecessary remark — and honestly left a bad taste. Overall, the experience felt inconsistent, awkward, and disappointing. Not somewhere I’d return.
I’m very #disappointed and #unhappy with the service and food quality I went here on 10/11/2022 with my friends to eat dinner. We ordered naga chilli lamb curry and many more dishes but when the manager brings our specials food which is naga chilli lamb it was just lame curry, not naga chilli laMB and I told to manager this is not a naga chilli lamb because naga chilli lamb is very spicy he said no it’s naga chilli lamb I said try it he was not tried but he took it to the kitchen make it naga chilli lamb after 5 minutes he brings our naga chilli lamb with naga chilli chicken mixed. Even I pad full bill 💵 for naga chilli lamb, they can’t verify with lamb and chicken 😝 ❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌ #Worst_service #No_response_to_customer #Not_respect_customer #Very_rude_talking_to_customer ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Learn how to customer service and talk to them
Extremely disappointing experience. When we placed our order, we were assured the food would be desi-style and spicy. Unfortunately, it was anything but. The salmon tasted shop bought and dry, completely unseasoned, and lacking any flavour. The lamb biryani was equally bland and uninspired. We raised our concerns with the waiter, who offered a spicy sauce, but it did nothing to improve the meal. I couldn’t finish my food. Sadly, I won’t be returning, and I certainly won’t be recommending this restaurant to friends or family.
STAY AWAY! Don’t bother going there if you’re a couple. We turned up on a Saturday and they refused us a table in favour of the four people behind us. Will never step foot in the place again. We crossed the street and got a table at the Celebrity Indian restaurant. We messaged the Barajee to express our disappointment and didn’t even get a response.
Curry's were avarage, too sweet for my liking. Me and a couple of the group have been sick since eating there. Would not recommend.
Without a doubt the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. What can I say about this place. Firstly they didn't have basic items that were on the menu. We ordered fish Masala starters they said there's no fish but the waiter was very rude and abrupt. One of our party ordered papadoms. They charged £3 for 2 sorry excuse of a papadom but the apparent mint sauce was a bright nuclear yellow colour the mango chutney was just vinegar and the pickle was drenched in oil. The mix starter was the worst most rubbery sorry excuse for a tiny piece of chicken and lamb and a seekh kebab which was clearly cut in half and defrosted. My main course was lamb balti which was literally just 4 pieces of boiled lamb in the blandest sauce. Avoid at all costs.
To be very honest the food is very horriable and not worth. I have ordered food from here and i don't know the proble with my food or with the chef. No clue whether chef is cooking actual food or security guard. Tasteless food.
We had very bad experience on this location because firstly the manager who has no manners with customer how he has to be pretending the customer.Even the store normally closed at 12 and we went there around 11 in a night and we ordered the food. After waiting almost half and hour we Got the food. We didn’t raised the any issue. After all our half dinner done we want to eat more items with bunch of people who are more starving the manager said we couldn’t take it up your order and it was sure the time was 11:36. Said rudly we closed . After when we spoke the manager who has no manners to talk with customer he was very rude and disrespectful guy. I would said to the other people who’s are thinking to eat food in this restaurant please don’t go ahead use other option. Thanks, Parth
The food, a monk fish dish was luke warm and blend with no flavour. The portion of pilau rice was small and luke warm. The starter portion was small for the price charged. Some waiters appeared disinterested and stood yawning
