We just celebrated my dad's 80th birthday here with a traditional Chinese banquet menu. I met with Danny the manager to plan out the details. We were able to reserve the private room that seats 40. The staff was so attentive and delivered all our wishes. The food was excellent. Everyone was impressed. We will not hesitate to hold any special celebrations here in the future.

Would highly recommend this place, the food and service was great. The food came out pretty quickly and there was a nice variety of options, with good portions as well. The view you get while you eat is very nice.

Great cantonese food with airplanes landing and takeoff views. We ordered chicken, pork intestine and white pepper soup which was a nice one to have just before traveling. It is conveniently located less than 10 mins drive SFO terminals.

Lovely jasmine tea, incredible braised duck, great service. Stopped in to this restaurant on a work trip, and chose it because it was right next to my hotel. I'm glad I was right next to it, because the food was fantastic. The duck fat was so perfectly tender it was like chewing through butter! Evan, my waiter, offered great service while I was there. I'll certainly be taking my wife here on our next trip into the area

That is wonderful experience i ever had. They make very delicious vegetarian food beside authentic Chinese food. Staffs are so nice and friendly. They suggest mushrooms stir fried and tomato soup for me. Highly recommend for family meal!

Wow. Pretty hype place with the most iconic views. Been to the other restaurants in Burlingame near SFO and this one definitely has beat out the rest in location. Kind staff, efficient work/service, and above all really good food and fantastic facilities. Will be back, a lot.

Went on a Saturday afternoon for Dim Sum. All dishes were hot, fresh and very tasty.

There was no wait when we arrived at 10am on a Sunday. Beautiful ocean view and the dim sum was good. Besides the usual dishes like the shrimp dumplings and beef with rice noodle roll, we enjoyed the mackerel and the lava salted egg yolk buns. The piggy shaped mango pudding was a nice treat for the kids.

Everything is good. Especially the Danggui chicken feet soup, so amazing!! They charged the 15% service automatically on the bill. Worth the price and service.

We hosted a celebration dinner banquet for 150 guests here in June 2024. We had a great experience working with the manager, Danny. He is very communicative, flexible, and friendly. Our external vendors (photobooth and guitar musician) had an easy time setting up here. Our event was very successful - the 10 course meal came out very timely and tasted delish! The water views and easy parking made it even better. We highly recommend HL Peninsula Pearl for your next banquet. The service is good, food is good, and the team is quick and easy to work with. Win-win!

The food is absolutely amazing! Every bite bursts with rich, vibrant flavors that make my taste buds dance with delight. The combination of spices and fresh ingredients is perfectly balanced, creating a truly mouthwatering experience. It's the kind of dish that makes you want to savor every single bite, and I could easily eat this all day long! The texture is just right, and the aroma is so inviting. It’s definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.Dan is so amazing!!!

Excellent dim sum place with gorgeous interiors. Very upscale and comfortable with a giant TV on the side. Entrees are good portion and tasty. Well lit and awesome view of the ocean. Staff is well trained and nice, unlike many dim sum places where you mainly just go for the food. I particularly liked their custard buns. Highly recommend this place for group meals or weddings!

Ok speaking as a white girl who just stumbled into this place having no clue what I walked into and not being able to read the menu, this place was fantastic. So I ordered off the picture menu and got what I think is sea cucumber. This was spiced with wasabi and was a texture somewhere between jello and a pickle. It's not something I would order again; however it was good. Next came the soup and holy cow that was absolutely fantastic! It was super hot and filled to the brim with tons of seafood (shrimp, scallop, fish, shellfish, mussel, prawn) and was spiced just right. The soup was absolutely huge and I honestly wish I had ordered just that. The food came with hot tea and a dessert soup. I asked and it was green pea dessert soup. It was also fantastic and I wish I hadn't been so full so I could eat it all. 10/10 I would go again for the Tom Yum Soup and the pea soup.

We reserved a private room upstairs for a collection of birthdays to celebrate. Food was great! Nice view from the deck if you step outside. We had the peony room with two windows to the outside and one window with a view of the main dining hall.

This is my go-to place for dim sum! The atmosphere here is exceptionally well being next to the sea and the San Francisco International airport, seeing planes landing and taking off. The digital ordering through the IPad is also very convenient for quick ordering compared some other places, and the visualization for each item is very helpful too!

Service was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Love the wagyu beef in teriyaki sauce and the lobster in black pepper butter sauce .

Peninsula pearl restaurant decorated very luxurious environment, atmosphere is very has the Chinese characteristic, and take in everything in a glance outside the window of the super beautiful seascape, when we enter to sit down and have a very comfortable feeling, a lot of food here, Chinese and western snacks, dishes with Chinese characteristics, in short, to meet the requirements of each customer, order of the female manager is very professional, service is also very good, Feel at home, and the price is affordable, value for money! I believe that the next dinner party, must choose to come here!

Very nice dim sum restaurant. The view of SFO and the bay was amazing. I could probably spend all day watching the planes take off. The food was also very tasty and nicely presented.

One of the best dim sum place on the peninsula. And also has a great view of the plane take off and landing. Their lunch dimsum is very crowded so either go there early before 11:00 or after 1:00 p.m. Since they remove the outdoor dining, they now direct overflow to the next door hotpot place, which also serve dim sums during lunch hour. They also have good dinner banquet menu that are reasonably priced, especially there holiday dinner banquet menu. But I always prefer banquet menus that are Tailor to our favorite dishes. Yes it will be more expensive than their set menu but at least all the dishes we will enjoy. You can always request dishes that you like from other restaurants, if they can do it, they would make it for you.

Had a wonderful experience here! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. There’s a wide variety of dim sum options to choose from, and each dish was served in generous portions. I always love the feng zhao, siu mai, and dan tat. The atmosphere was warm and inviting as well, making it a great spot for casual meals with family. Service was attentive and friendly, with staff regularly checking in to make sure everything was perfect. Overall, a great place for quality dim sum with an impressive selection and excellent hospitality. Highly recommend!

Good places for Dim Sum and Cantonese style food. Parking is difficult to come by during the weekend, but weekdays are fine. Services are efficient and polite. Food is tasty and fresh and good portions. You can also enjoy to watch the airplanes takes off and landing in SFO.

Have always came here for proper dimsum. Authentic, reasonably priced, and flavorful. There’s usually always a line so make sure to either make appointment or come in earlier. Service is pretty good, people kept on checking on us and we never ran out of tea :) ambiance was a little loud, but the table arrangement was pretty good and following the conduct. The fried chow fun was the star of the show, the second star was the crispy prawn wrapped with rice roll. Congee was good but a tad bland, the egg yolk custard bun was amaaaazing and melted (watch out it’s very hot inside). The short ribs is also good!

July 2024: Came here for dinner with a few out of town guests. We got seated at a big table by the window on the Bay side. It's really nice to see the planes descend as they approach the SFO airport. Food wise, everything was excellent 👍👌. I'm not sure why this place doesn't get a higher rating on Google maps. Favorites included the white chicken, vermicelli noodles, pea sprouts, beef stir fry, fish stir fry. There's a large TV screen that they use to celebrate people's birthdays. I thought it was fun to see. Overall, would definitely come back again for more delicious dinner food!

Great place to have a fancy, banquet-style Chinese meal. We didn't get to try their dim sum, but I loved almost every dish we ordered. My favorites were probably the Peking Duck and Lobster. The steamed fish was also very tender and tasted fresh. Prices are high, to be expected considering the location, but it was worth it. Service was good and dishes came out in a timely manner. I would love to come back to try the dim sum.

Very nice up scale dim sum. Little more pricier, but food was good and we had a very good waiter. Had reservations on a Tuesday at 12:30pm, and they were still busy. About a 20 minute wait. Our group had a table next to the window.... what a great view of the bay. Seeing airplanes land and the splendor of the bay.

We stopped here after our flight from Seattle to SF. What an amazing view of the planes coming in. The dim sum is great as well. We got here at 1030am when it first opened on a Monday and the place filled up fast. Since it was during the week they did not have a dim sum cart, everything was ordered from the dim sum paper and arrived fresh. Not sure if they offer dim sum cart on the weekend or not.

Food is delicious dim sum, we were lucky to have a table in a private room cuz we had 17 people. It was only one woman wait staff to help us with food, it was not much service after they brought in the food and she really left us alone and we need more tea but no service until when we ready to leave then give us tea. That's really bad to me no tea for a long time and only refilling once! She must be so busy and we go outside help ourselves for finding boxes for leftover food. Be good to have good service with a smile too?

J

The dim sum is not bad here. We arrived at 11:30 am on a Friday and got a table right away. There was huge line after we arrived at 12pm. The food came out fairly quickly and we devoured it. I do like the ordering system where there are pictures of the food and you get to mark up the dim sum brochure. We had four non-Chinese friends with us and it was helpful for them because they don't read Chinese. In term of quality of the dim sum, I had better at other restaurants. These were decent. The lobster noodles $44 were OK. Not great. It was a tiny lobster with hardly any meat. The highlight for me was the giant zongzi, a sticky rice with meats wrapped in lotus leaves. This is not to be confused with lo mai gai, chicken with other meats lotus leaves wrap. Those are smaller and come in two's in a standard steamer. Overall, good job staff at HL Peninsula. We had a good lunch today.

Great quality of Chinese food. Very good view to over see the flight come in and out from SFO. Large dining area and seating space. Easy parking. They have all kinds of fresh seafood selections. Worth the visit 😊 Geoduck 1.5LB with two different preparation dishes. I love both. Poach with beansprout and cook with sizzling rice in the vegetable broth.

Excellent Chinese food near the airport. Get a booking as it can get quite busy during dinner. There's a lot of carparks outside as well. Overall food was great, although service fell short. The speed of the food being served was reasonable as well although it was quite busy during that night. Taste: ***** Environment: **** Service: ***

Tasty dim sum in a nicely kept restaurant by the sea. What else could you want? The pork buns and lava buns were super good! The duck portion was smaller than we expected. I wish waiters were politer and more engaging - they came across overworked and never warned us the kitchen was closing. Good quantity of food for $25/person. Good for casual and more special occasions. Book in advance otherwise you'll wait for a while! Very comparable quality to Koi in Milpitas. Overall, recommended and I will be coming back very soon!

Newly opened for just a couple weeks and it was packed. Traditional Cantonese dim sum and banquet restaurant. We ordered various dim sum and dishes from the regular menu. It was a mixed, some were pretty good, such as the shrimps dumplings, chicken feet, fish porridges. Some were average, such as clay pot rice with sausages, short ribs, spicy chicken. The prices were reasonable, reasonable CP. But, I think they could do better on the taste and flavors. Maybe after things calm down from the grand opening!

W
Wendy Ng

The atmosphere is nice. High ceiling with lots of chandeliers giving it a rustic chic feel. Food was OK. You get a digital tablet to order the items and it's brought to the table when it's done rather then pulling it off the steam carts. We ordered 7 dishes total for the three of us. They charge $1.50 per person for tea. A lot of items were not seasoned well. The best bites of the day were siu mai and the shrimp dumpling. Everything else just lacked salt.

R
Roy Chen

Good quality dim sum but you will pay a price for it. The typical dishes are about $1-2 more than your typical spot. They also have tons of specialities like truffle har gow and a wide selection of dessert dim sum. Definitely gets busy but food comes out pretty quick. Ordering is done on a tablet. Views are nice.

J

Came here for a wedding banquet and every dish we had was perfect or close to perpect. Instead of the usual honey walnut shrimps we were served the twist of this dish - Honey spare ribs and veggie croquettes. It was delish. The uni fried rice at the end was a bit fishy but it was seasoned right and it hit the spot.

P

Our party of 7 had dinner on late July and my favorite was Geoduck Clam done two ways! The stir fry was done very well and so was the soup made from the head! We order additional 8 dishes which were decent but wasn’t spectacular! I’ve never had dinner here before, only had dim sum because usually go to the location off Grand Ave in SSF. We happen to be staying at the hotel that was right next to HL, so might as well try dinner here! They do have a great view of the bay if you make reservations early!

This is a Cantonese-style restaurant, which is famous in the Central Peninsula. We arrived there at twelve o'clock and waited for an hour to get a seat. Generally speaking, it tastes good, except for the cold chicken feet. If you want to have morning tea, please wait after 10: 00 a.m. or 1: 00 noon, then you won't wait too long.

R
Ryan Tran

Food is good with many selections. We came here for dim sum and it was an overall good experience. The one downside was the restrooms. There was wet toilet paper and water all over the floor. Overall, a pretty good place to have dim sum.

D

The food is excellent. Bathrooms needed to be cleaned. Small parking lot for such a large venue. Good views.

E

Really good tasting dim sum spot, service is definitely the weakest link. They have an abundance of outdoor seating for those who are super cautious. There are both traditional dim sum option for those who want the classics, however there are modern twists as well. The Matcha Taro bun is a must try, even for those who are not matcha fans, the flavor is subtle. Staff attitude is slightly more hospitable than other dim sum/ Cantonese restaurants. Be aware though, staff here do nickel and dime, was charged 1.15 for water. I thought I was in Europe! They threw on an automatic 15% tip onto the bill for my party of 2.

J

You can watch airplanes take off and landing while enjoying the dim sum. The price is very reasonable. I think the other HL restaurants are slightly better than here though.

D
Dharma M

This review is for their is for dimsum. We arrived may be 10 min after they opened, and they only have one table left for 4. Lucky us. They also have outdoor seating. There are not many choices for dimsum. They are all regular items which you can also find at any other dimsum restaurant except the broiled sticky rice with wasabi sauce. It tastes similar to the one wrapped in lotus leaf, but this one is broiled. It is unique, and it is very filling. I like this restaurant on the view. You can see planes take off and land from your seat. Service is ok. Our servers are pretty nice. If you plan to visit for dimsum, my suggestion to to come before they open so there will be no wait time. If not, your wait time can vary, and also, typical chinese restaurant they will give priority to their regular first.

J
Julie Taeko

They have a really good dim sum menu with great ambiance of the beautiful outdoors and elegant indoors. It’s definitely one of the more pricey restaurants in the SF bay area for Chinese food, but they were quite innovative and have a lot of options that you don’t find elsewhere. We had our wedding here, and they did a great job overall. My only wish was that we had been able to get our money’s worth at the head table. We paid for a head table of 10 people, but we only had 6. Even so, we definitely did not get enough food or any leftovers. Everything they served us was extremely small because they knew that we wouldn’t be able to eat much. Both of my parents left the wedding extremely hungry and had to eat a separate dinner. Also for weddings here, you do have to provide a lot of the decorations and vendors yourself, like chair covers, rectangle tables, DJs, lion dancers, etc. It’s not meant for a full blown wedding, but more for Chinese banquet wedding dinner reception Sony.

We had a 100th day celebration for my nephew at HL Peninsula Pearl. The set menu of 10 courses: lobster, soy sauce chicken, salted fish fried rice, etc. It was too much food . The restaurant looked out to the SF Airport runway. It’s situated near a few hotels in the area. Overall, the food was great.

Wilson Tsang
Wilson Tsang

TLDR: great food and beautiful location but pricey for dim sum We really enjoyed all the food, the shrimp dumpling, siu mai, and other assorted dim sum were very enjoyable. The skin on the har gow was just right without being too sticky, the chicken feet were tender and not too spicy. The service was good and the view is pretty but the price is very expensive, $7.10 for a small dish with most dishes being medium at $8.10 for four pieces is a bit high.

James Xie
James Xie

The view is really pretty you can see the planes fly and the beautiful blue bay water. The food was really good and you can have a hotpot there which my daughter and her friends love. Some of the food was a bit too bland and didn't have enough flavor and seasoning. They were a bit slow when it came for service but overall our experience was really great!

I
Irene Carmel Salado

This got a hype from my cousin to try but as from the east cost, it is a so-so tasting. Interior design is fair, service is fair, view from our seat is nice since we are able to see takeoffs and landings at sfo. Pricing is a bit expensive. Bathroom is huge and aesthetically pleasing. Has high chairs. Ample parking space. Accepts credit/debit cards. See images and videos for further reference

Came here for dim sum on a Sunday. This place is the same owner with HL Peninsula Garden - which is one of my favorite dim sum places in the city. Unfortunately they must have different chefs. The menu is slightly different and the taste is about 30% of lower quality.

So crowded, it seems have two lines, one for close friends 😅 Food taste so light. Outdoor seating, service is good.

The stars are giving to the spectacular view of the pacific ocean and SFO. Their dum sums are overrated and overpriced.

C
Christopher Lew

Might be because this place just opened and there were a lot of people, but this place had pretty horrible service. They could not accommodate non Chinese speaking people. For some reason they take the chopsticks out of the plastic cover for you and insist on doing it themselves. Food is terribly overpriced. The Cheung feung was very little for a lot of money. Overall the restaurant seemed very disorganized. A cool place looking outside the bay, but needs some work.

J
Josephine Chang

Overall it is good place for group or family gathering, the food menu is very detailed and due to time consuming, we ordered a set of pre-arranged food course A, along with a bottle of white. The cucumber taste yummy as the appetizer. Will pay another visit if friends coming over to get together or even with family gathering.

I can't really comment about too much. Arrived, ask to have my name put on the list. The hostess said that there were to many people in line shc it would be about an hour. Another patron started yelling at her saying she was lying as she been waiting two hours already and it looked at be another hour still! I thanked the other guest and left.

This place was very easy to find and had a huge parking space which made it easy for us. It was very fancy inside with a very cozy and comfy atmosphere, the tables were very comfortable too! The food was also very good! The food had a savory flavor which matches me and my family’s likings! Although the food and atmosphere was great, we had to pay a 18% service fee, service fees are supposed to be optional, but they charged us right away. And, when we asked a lady for a take-out box, she was very cold faced and rude towards us, showing us her bad attitude. The experience was not as great as I expected. But the food and atmosphere was really great! I really hoped this helped!

Above average Chinese/Cantonese restaurant with a small section of Japanese and a good variety of seafood. The Alaskan crab with garlic was delicious. Sesame chicken was slightly too salty. Was disappointed some dishes we wanted were sold out that we changed our order a few times. Service was good but the food took over half an hour to come.

S
Son Lee

Great food presentation by far in a dim sum medium-priced restaurant. The service is about average what you expect in Asian restaurants serving dim sum would be like. I did enjoy the tech with the iPad ordering. The food is just okay in comparison to the presentation where it's non-traditional dim sum shapes.

J

The service is good, the environment is beautiful. but the food is really average. I thought I could eat handmade barbecued pork buns, but I was a little disappointed.

A
Allan Wong

The steamed fish was excellent, and everything else was well prepared. The view of the bay was spectacular and well appreciated. Unfortunately, even with a reservation and our on time arrival, we were made to wait for at least 15 minutes even though there were plenty of tables available. They were understaffed and service suffered noticeably as a result. That had an outsized impact on the enjoyment of the meal and the overall experience.

This is a Cantonese dim sum restaurant. As compared to others of this caliber (any restaurant offering specialized teas), I found the food so so. The liquid gold buns (I do not know what the correct name is - see picture) was not liquid; it was on the solid side. As you can see from the pictures, the sauces on the dishes was kind of gelled. For dim sum, food should be temperature hot, otherwise, it gels up. Service was okay. I had to flag the server many times to refill the teapot. This restaurant is a favorite for Chinese banquets like for a wedding or red egg ginger baby party because it seats 500 people with no obstructed view. It also has t.v. monitors so if the emcee or someone is speaking, you will be able to see it from any table. There is a public parking lot. Our wait time was 30 minutes.

A
Austin T

Extremely overpriced food for what you get. I got the “Beef Chow Fun” and was disappointed to find that it was almost entirely noodles. There was very little beef or vegetables. Hardly what I would expect from a $19 dish.

A
Amanda Cheung

Good location with bay view. But the food was mediocre. Only good one was the XO sautéed sea cucumber. Beef chow fun was plain, beef rib was not slow roasted, and the meat was not trash at all. Tasted like it’s prepared days ago.

L
Linda Truong

I really wanted to love this place. Nice view, good dim sum choices, easy parking. We had a big group-8 people plus a baby so naturally we ordered a lot of food. We had 3/4 of the food out and were already told to hurry up to leave because they needed the table. Then next thing you knock, they gave us take out containers to wrap up. We spent around an hour only. Given the amount of ppl and food, how is it expected for us to leave in an hour when not all the food were even out yet as well?! Crazy to think of that. We couldn’t even sit to enjoy the food. They never refilled the teapot since they wanted us out. Spend your Saturday morning out somewhere else to enjoy and take everything in.

Upscale dim sum restaurant with a view of the SFO runway. Shared a Chow Fun and Thai Vermicelli with a friend over lunch. After 45 minutes and 2 inquiries one entree was served. We almost finished the entree and had to raise our voice to ask about the 2nd entree before it was served. Entree flavor was good but all noodle very little protein - see picture. Party of 2 mandatory 15% surcharge for pathetic service. Very disappointed.

Service was painfully slow! Forty-five+ minutes to get the first plate. Called for check and boxes many times with acknowledgment from the manager and staff but no one came to help. After fifteen minutes of waiting, I finally stood up in the middle of the restaurant and waved my arm in the air to get someone to help. The waiters all seem very annoyed and overwhelmed also. Food is alright but the service... Ouch.

05/2024 1 star service at dinner. This used to be our favorite brunch place. But service today is almost 0. 1. We waited 10mins for a high chair (they don't allow us to use own stroller because of not enough room), and the next table requested a high chair later than us got one sooner than us. Surprisingly, there's only one working high chair in such a big restaurant, they had borrowed one from nearby restaurant. 2. We ordered 3 bows of rice and only 2 was served. 3. No water / tea service at our table Very disappointed 乳鸽!紫米肠粉! 虾饺一般 叉烧包太甜

We had dinner at HL Peninsula Pearl Restaurant on 2/1, and it turned into a nightmare for my entire family. To begin with, the service was extremely slow — we waited over 45 minutes for our dishes. Unfortunately, the long wait was only the start of a much worse experience. Within hours after the meal, I developed severe diarrhea and intense stomach pain that lasted over a week. My condition became so serious that I had to go to the Emergency Room at SFGHl for treatment. Sadly, I was not the only one affected — my wife and other family members all experienced the same symptoms, including diarrhea and upset stomach. This was not a mild stomach issue; it was serious food-borne illness–level symptoms that caused significant suffering and disrupted our daily lives. When multiple people at the same table fall ill after dining at the same restaurant, it raises serious concerns about food safety, handling, and hygiene. Between the unacceptable wait time and the severe health consequences, this was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. We will never return, and I strongly urge others to be cautious.

Food here isn't bad , however, if you expect any kind of customer service, you need to look elsewhere. We came on a busy weekend, and when we checked in, they informed us about 1/2 hour wait. However, it's past an hour and there are still 4 groups ahead of us. We did notice a few "friend and family" cut the line and was led into dinning room without having to wait. When I confronted the hostess , she claimed they had a reservation. She must think I'm either dumb or blind especially I witnessed the original encounter. In conclusion, if the wait is an hour, just tell us. Let us decide if we want to wait and not hold us hostage. Or, What do we have to do to be on the friends and family list?

We had dinner here on Chinese New Year Day—five adults and one 18-month-old baby. We ordered a crab (which was supposed to be cooked three ways), one steamed fish, one vegetable dish, and one wagyu beef dish. No alcohol. The final bill? A staggering $1,314.07, including an 18% service charge, which brought the total to $262.80 per adult. While we expected higher prices for the occasion, this was beyond outrageous for what we received. The food was decent but nowhere near justifying the cost. To top it off, the service was mediocre, making the automatic 18% service charge feel completely undeserved. I’m sharing this so others don’t get duped. If you’re considering dining here, be very cautious about the pricing. This experience left a bad taste—both literally and financially.

This restaurant's food quality and service deteriorated pretty badly during the pandemic. Last week we went to have dim-sum there and several dishes were over-steamed, soaked in water and became tasteless; the server didn't show up once after taking our order. Manger and waiters are all callous when hearing about our complaints. Overall the place seems very poorly managed. Sad to see a place going down like this.

Be cautious with this place. They charge a mandatory 18% service fee for a party of 2, which is not stated on the menu or anywhere in the restaurant. You might think the service would be good then, but NO! Our waitress kept pushing us to order an expensive market price lobster. It was $35ish/lbs and about 3 lbs each. Our dish was brought to the other end of the table and we had to stand up to arrange the dishes ourselves in order to reach it. No asking "how's everything". We were stunned to see the 18% service charge after this kind of service. Edit: I forgot to mention how rude the manager (he seemed like the manager) was. When I kindly asked him about the 18% fee, he said it was mandatory and "not up to you or me". I said this should be the customer's choice, he said "you can think about it yourselves" and left. What was that??

The food was alright. I’ve been here with my mom multiple times but the service today was by far the worst. We had to flag down the waiters multiple times for the same request. We asked for extra napkins and for the bill and it would always take us to flag another person down to actually get the napkins and the bill. We had leftovers and they didn’t even care to ask or account for how many boxes we needed so we had to flag someone down again for extra to go boxes. Nobody even came to refill the tea. There’s also an automatic 16% service fee charge. I’d understand if it was busy but it was a Wednesday early afternoon and it wasn’t busy. The service here is non-existent and seems like they just service their regulars.

Server tricked us to order more dishes than needed and recommended much more expansive fish, which overcooked and tasted badly.

Very disappointed. The food was overpriced and didn’t match the quality or service we expected. All the dim sum dishes were over-steamed, losing both flavor and texture — they tasted like reheated leftovers. All the wrap of steamed dishes even arrived already broken, which made me suspect it was reused or left over from another serving. The service was just as poor. The staff seemed undertrained. We ordered three items to-go and ended up waiting 45 minutes. When we asked about the delay, the server casually replied, “Did the other server tell you all dim sums need to be steamed?” I couldn’t help but respond, “Do your dim sums really need 45 minutes to steam?

I recently visited this restaurant, and unfortunately the behavior of the front staff was completely unprofessional. The woman and the man wearing a suit at the entrance lacked basic customer service skills, and their conduct was inappropriate and disrespectful toward customers. This type of behavior can negatively impact a customer’s dignity and overall experience. I recommend that management seriously review and address this issue.

The dishes quality and taste is so bad! They got remolded, the atmosphere is great but the taste is like fast food. I don’t recommend this place if you want to have a decent Cantonese food.

I visited this place for lunch today. Perhaps a high end dim sum place cant tell. We ordered from the menu, took more than 45 minutes, 2 reminders to get our first order. Others were getting their food faster. We almost finished the first order when we inquired about the other order. Same standard answer - "it's coming". I raised my voice and asked "when" - magically the food arrived within 30 seconds. Food tasted good but the entrees were mainly noodles, very little protein. See picture. I would avoid this place.

I can’t even rate the food. I ordered food for pick up and was told to arrive at 1:20 for pick up. It is now 1:50 and the food is still not ready. And this is just an order for 1 person of the beef chow fun. I’m usually a very patient person, but waiting 30 minutes for pre ordered take out is ridiculous.

I was ecstatic to try this HL Peninsula near Millbrae/Burlingame, given that I’ve been to the Milpitas and South San Francisco ones before, but this one left to be an absolute dim sum nightmare and disappointment, which my taste buds confirmed. Here’s my take on each of the dishes I had here today: Portuguese Egg Tarts - the egg portion was really creamy, which I liked, but the crust was too thick and way too crusty. Normally, crust falling is normal, but the tart almost completely fell apart. 4/10 in my opinion. Shrimp Hargow (蝦餃) - the presentation of this was absolute hell. Not only were they all next to each other, but they all instantly sticked onto each other. In dim sum etiquette, that’s an absolute big no no. The shrimp tasted mid, but I would have appreciated if there was a little bit of ginger in the filling. Custard buns (奶黃包) - first of all, why purple? Unless y’all were trying to make an impression that it was purple yam. This restaurant loves their purple a little too much. The bun color should be white or a little yellow, NOT PURPLE? Also, there was barely any filling in the custard bun. (3.5/10) Beef tripe (牛百葉) - this tripe was not even cooked well thoroughly. It tasted really rubbery. Pairing of the sauce tasted quite well though, but not enough to satisfy my cravings. XLB (小蘢包) - the most disappointing part of this dish was not enough soup, the skin of the bao was too thin, and they didn’t provide ginger upon service. I don’t know if you would want to try this at a dim sum restaurant… Also uncooked meat? BIG RED FLAG. Service was meh and it just felt really tight in there, atmosphere wise. I don’t know if I would argue with them, but it sure was not a pleasant experience for me. I don’t know if I’m gonna come back to this establishment. Honestly, I do not represent anybody — only my views. But if you’re coming for the individual and family-like experience, I’d go to the one off of Dubuque - in my opinion, it is so much better.
