Kalico Kitchen is a family run diner. Great breakfast food - many choices. It is a sunny place to eat with great prices and some excellent specials. Like most places there are some menu items I like better than others but over all a great family restaurant that I often enjoy. The service has always been good .... actually they anticipate what I might otherwise forget to make my meal better.

Chrissy is my favorite one there no offense guys. She is checking my coffee cup the moment I take the first sip. Making you feel right at home and bringing the best out of you. Great food and people

Fast, Fun and Filling. That is pretty much how your experience will be at Kalico Kitchen. They have some tremendous specials, for both breakfast and dinner. Service is always fast and with a smile :-). Lots of food choices. Your coffee cup will always be full of hot coffee. Chris always takes great care of our table on Tuesday mornings. Cruise in and enjoy some tasty food. You won't be disappointed.

We eat here more often than anywhere else in town. Chris is always great! Love to go here for breakfast and love the 2 for 1 chicken dinner special on Wednesdays. Service is always great (even when we don't get Chris) and the management is really friendly. My grandson loves it when we take him for breakfast. He can really pack it away and always has good things to say about the food.

I love this place. I enjoy the diner experience, and this place never disappoints. Whether they're super busy hoppin all over, or you catch them in a lull, they're always friendly, fast and make sure you've got plenty of coffee. Great place for breakfast any day of the week.

Family friendly restaurant, makes family with little baby’s and children feel welcome. The staff is very friendly and treats you like family. High chairs and children’s menu. Our 13month old loves their blue berry muffins.

I really enjoyed our dinner here. We had the fish, mashed potatoes w brown gravy, soup, cornbread, and coconut pie..all for $10.99 plus tax. And loved it all. Good home cooking. Would def drive back down from Red Bluff to eat here again. Bonus: Our waitress was as sweet as our pie.... 🙏 Blessings.

Updated November 2024....... food is always good, service is spot on... we arrived a little late (before closing) they absolutely accommodated us which was very kind of them. Nothing has changed. If you haven't been here for breakfast or lunch you should try it...

The staff is a team and when one of their own, the cook, took Ill they all pulled together, calling 911, and making sure all their customers we happy, comfortable and informed. Very graceful and professional. Thank you to the manager for taking over the kitchen, no one skipped a beat. We pray for the health and wellness of this man may he fully recover.

Kalico Kitchen is the Classic Diner we have all come to love. The service is prompt and friendly the prices are reasonable and the food is always good. Though much has changed in the world around us places like Kalico Kitchen remain a common staple. I visit alone at times and others with my family. The experiences we've had it Kalico Kitchen have always been positive.

Excellent chicken fried steak, and overall great place for breakfast. They have very good roasted salsa too, which is perfect on the eggs.

Friend took me here while I was in Chico and the omelette is very delicious way better than Denny's. Very accommodating staff and quick to refill your coffee. I will certainly come back when I'm in town.

First time I been here, had the chicken fried steak breakfast special. I will say this - I was very HAPPY with not only the food which was delicious but the service! Our waitress was AMAZING and I made sure I told her and her boss so! She definitely deserved her awards😊.

THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! This place is a hidden gem in my books. The food was excellent. Made to order using the freshest ingredients. The experience and service was so good that we went back the very next day. Yup you guessed it, we got the same treatment and had quality food served. Our new friends Christina and Donna treated my girlfriend and I like family. They made us feel as if we were at home and had us laughing just about the whole time we were there. We are from San Diego and will definitely be going back each time we visit Chico. Christina and Donna, thank you both so much for the spectacular service that you provided. It was very appreciated and it is something that other establishments are clearly missing.

I was surprised at how good the food was. My salad had a lot of different goodies in it and was really tasty. It had different types of lettuces and cranberries and nuts and good chicken on top. The servers were good and friendly. Didn't feel rushed. I even brought some home and it was still good for dinner. Happy day.

Very friendly staff. My coffee was regularly filled even though the place was busy. Food came out hot and tasty. I even asked to sub a different meat in my omelet. Pleasantly surprised to see that I was not charged for it on the bill. Of all the places fimdimg reasons to upcharge customers, this restaurant did not. My children and I will be back. So many choices, breakfast and burgers are our go to. We usually have our favorite waitress, Rhonda! Atmosphere is very family friendly. This is our after church spot for about 4 years now. Never had a bad experience. Keep up the good work!

This is a good place to get breakfast. They are pretty quick on orders even when it's busy. The staff has always been friendly towards me. You get a good sized portion of food! I really like their chicken fried steak! The strawberry pancakes are also a nice sweet treat. I don't really like the inside that much, it does need a little more updating I think. But they did update their seating not too long ago and it's very comfortable now! And a pretty yellow color. I would say the prices are about average or so compared to other places so not bad! Overall I really like this place and will definitely be going back.

They have a section on their breakfast menu where you select one item from 3 of 4 boxes for seniors, alot of variety, good price, it includes coffee too. The veggie omelet, mushrooms, onions and peppers, it was delicious, ground round patty fine, pancakes so big and fluffy 😋, their sausage is excellent. Great service too.

This is the kind of place where faces become familiar, where you naturally gravitate toward 'your' table, and where you leave feeling nourished – both heart and belly. After just two years in Chico, finding this sense of community has been invaluable. We're lucky enough to have a reserved Friday morning spot in Chris' section. She knows everyone by name, celebrates every milestone, offers comfort during tough times, and somehow never lets a coffee cup go empty. Chris is the beating heart of this place. The early-riser breakfast is hands-down one of the best values in town, and Rosa absolutely slays in the kitchen! I once playfully teased her about how she cut my toast, and now she keeps a tape measure handy just to poke fun right back at me. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard! Once you find your spot here, breakfast anywhere else won't feel the same.

Great place where they know your name! Candy and Socorro the owners are really kind people. They have great staff. All the waitstaff treats everyone with kindness. My parents really like their burgers. The staff is always accommodating when we bring our toddler as well. Great people that provide great service at a fair price.

Went with 2 other people and the server was great, cooks made a good meat omelette and crispy hash browns with side of country gravy was on point. Been going here for years and it’s still great choice to go out for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Good food. Fresh. Nice, friendly staff. It was kind of odd to see the floors being mopped while we were eating. They weren't closing for an hour but we had to see the gray mop being swung around.

I used to go to the Kalico Kitchen in Paradise until it burned down. I passed by this restaurant because it had the same name. This restaurant turned out to be just as good and whenever I'm in town this is probably where I will eat. The food did not disappoint.

The staff are friendly and easy to talk to. On Wednesdays they have a two for one chicken dinner. A whole half a bird with all the trimmings and a price that's second to none. On another note, the seating they have could be roomier. Sure, they have a couple booths with adequate room, I would just like to see more comfortable seating...

Food was good and service was good as well. I had brosted chicken and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were real not boxed. Very tasty. Chicken was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Yum. I would go back again Update: we did go back and it wasn't very good this time. I guess it was a different cook. Very disappointed the second time.

This place is consistently good in service, and relatively average to above average in food. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating to change (last minute addition to the table), the manager is on site and visible.

Breakfast was good. Generous portions. Exactly what you’d want & expect from a homestyle diner type establishment... although service left much to be desired.. Maybe Loreta was having a bad day? Will try again... the lunch and dinner looks good. Next time I’ll hopefully get friendlier service! I also got a pie To-Go for later and it was phenomenal!

Delicious food, good service, didnt tip because the waitress wasnt very helpful. But the rest of the experience was great. The prices were a little high about 36$ and some change for two adults and a child.

Great food. Nice people. I would give 5 stars but I never got my garlic toast. I asked my waitress if my dinner came with toast and was told it did not. On the way out I pointed out to another waitress that the sign says it comes with toast. Oh yeah, all the dinners come with toast! Sorry about that! We laughed. I thought maybe they would offer me some toast on my way out. Nope. No toast for me. 😕 Go there, enjoy the food - but make sure you get your toast!

The food was good, except for the biscuit (with the biscuits and gravy). I've worked in customer service for a very long time, so I'm used to slightly nicer servers, the server wasn't bad, but she was a lot better after we tipped. (My brother picked up the check right after we ordered.) I'll go back for sure.

Could be a little cleaner, but other than that this place is pretty neat. Each person in our group got very different items. We got everything from shrimp to burritos to chicken croissant sandwiches to pancakes lol. So everyone should be able to find something they like. The photos along the walls are really neat to see. If you have kids and are in the back larger room, you can test them to find the pictures that have "church" spelled wrong and see if they can find them. The half and half is refrigerated which I really appreciate. Very friendly staff. Sanitizer is close to the entrance and was nice and full.

They were very busy, but yet very attentive to our table. We normally eat off of the breakfast menu but today I had a vegetable crepe and my aunt had the hamburger. We were both very happy.

All American comfort food kind of place. Decent portions, many many options - sandwich, burgers, salads, steaks, fish and chips, meat loaf, to name a few. Reasonable prices in the $8-14 range. Super service, friendly helpful servers, managers who bus tables, fast turn around from order to presentation. Definitely a good family option, we'll return.

A fantastic little diner clearly run by management and staff who really care about their clientele. Everything tastes great and there's clearly returning customers welcomed warmly at the door, which makes the place feel very earnest and hospitable. Other Offerings The fresh-squeezed orange juice was fantastic, and the bacon was flavorful and satisfying — a highlight of the meal. Service and Atmosphere The staff was very pleasant, friendly, and attentive. Everyone was helpful and responsive throughout the visit. I always go to eat there on a weekend to cheat on my diet for brunch. The price is right and the staff is very friendly. The food is a 6 out of 10. But I keep going. Not a high class place so if u want fancy food it's not for you.

Food was good, they made many mistakes with it though. Lost our ticket, had something green (not a seed) floating in our orange juice, the waitresses were friendly enough and kept updating us, but having to wait after our order was lost wasn't great and only to have our orders wrong amd had to be sent back to be fixed made it worse. Wasn't a horrible experience, but wouldn't call it a good experience either. 3 people 60 dollar bill and the amount of errors were crazy. Definitely not as good as the one in paradise was before that location burned down. Food was ultimately good, but it's a question of the price and service was worth the headache.

Super friendly staff, lots of seating and plenty of parking. Could be really busy weekend mornings. They have many tasty breakfast options but today I ordered a cheeseburger for the first time. Do yourself a favor and stick to the breakfast menu. The burger tasted like a soy burger or something that was premade and frozen.

Sad to say the food was not tasty in a good way. Steak taco salad was not appealing. Tough steak strips. Wilted lettuce. Beans balled at the bottom. One server dashing to serve many others. One worker eating lunch. Another counting something and chatting. Probably won't go back.

The food was not good, the hash browns were not cooked. I had the bisquit platter the sausage patties were cold. I'm not sure but, maybe new morning cook??? I used to love this place. The red chili sauce they give you tasted like it had gone sour. Not going back any time soon.

Ordered 10oz steak special. It looked like 6oz. Ordered medium rare and it came rare and was too sinewy to cut with their knife. I asked for a sharp knife and they said they already gave me the adult knife. If you like cozy diner atmosphere, you'll like this place, but it felt like it hit its prime in 1995.

Not impressed. Went on Mothers Day for lunch. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt because it was decently busy, but not so busy that there was a wait to be seated like most other places in the area. The service was lacking, including the host who seated us, but our server was pleasant. However we only ever saw or talked to her twice during the entire time we were there. Once to take our order and once to bring our food, our food came with the check, so there was no plan on coming back. My wife enjoyed her meal, but mine was not good at all. I ordered a burger, it came to me well done, so well done in fact that it was burnt. It was the star of the meal I ordered and it was burnt, you had one job. It was called something like a skyscraper and it looked smashed together when it came to the table. When paying the ticket the person (the host) never asked how the meal was, it just seemed they could care less. I would give less stars, but I gave two stars because my wife's food was good, the server was pleasant and I got a thank you at the end of the transaction. Other than that, I was simply not impressed and wouldn't go back.

Service was fine. Very inviting. My order was breakfast. It was awful. Corned beef was greasy the hash browns were yellow not brown. And the eggs very undercooked. Lucky my husband had some bacon and piece of French toast to share. Not sure we'll go back.

Ordered the chicken fried steak special to go it was okay. Late in the day. Did not order the soup or salad. It was close to closing. The food was cold and runny. Did not get the garlic bread which I ordered. I was disappointed. Seriously disappointed.

We came for a pre Christmas breakfast and were verbally attacked while trying to enjoy ourselves, with my 76 year old mother. So sad , I use to love coming here.

Usually we so enjoy our meals here but today was a disaster of sorts. After over hearing a couple of the obviously tired and over worked waitresses say "customers get what they get" as far as how the food comes out! Then we got our burnt over cooked food. Then we never got checked on again 😒 🙄. We are praying that they had temporary cooking staff but the older waitresses are there all the time the attitude was not typical of Kalico. We were very sad. Guess its Cozy from now on. Just bummed for the change. Good luck everyone.

I have been staying at the Sadari Motel and ordering food from Kalico Kitchen everyday for the last two weeks. Today I called to make an order at 2:50pm and was told they close at 3pm. The waitress took my order and told me I needed to come right now to pick it up because they were closing. I thanked her and headed out the door. When I got there they rudely told me it was to late and that they didnt make my food. Why take my order and have me come down there for nothing. I think it was rude and unprofessional. I wont be ordering from them any more.

This place tried to charge me 1.99 extra for an egg white order. I have never been charged for egg whites they are removing egg i get less not more. When asked why they charge no good answer its just because the owner wants to. 1.99 might not seem much but inflation is horrible and my meal was already going to be almost $20. To me this was ridiculous.

UPDATE: my son and I got food poisoning after eating here. If your looking for fast and cheap food without buying fast food this is the place. Overall it wasn’t very impressive and had some minor flaws. The food was not fresh or seasoned, the salad was slimy and wet, coffee was old, and the sandwiches were dry. The service was fast, friendly, and food came out right away. The bathrooms were clean but not very handicapped accessible - making it difficult to get in and out of - because the stall door is put on backwards in the womens bathroom.

Food not good. Service even worse. Dont waste your time or your money at this establishment. When questioned about the quality of their food the manager proceeded to get loud. Terrible overall experience.

I ordered two senior French toast and they gave me biscuits and gravy so I called them to let them know and they insisted that I ordered biscuits and gravy when I know I did not. I don’t even like biscuits and gravy at all. So I call them and the owners wife starts arguing with me and then hangs up on me. So then I call back two more times and I speak to the husband owner and he also starts arguing with me. These owners are absolutely horrible people who do not care about their customers and they will argue with you, just so they don’t look like they are in the wrong. They didn’t even give me my money back! I just wasted 30 something dollars on something I didn’t even order!! Absolutely horrible owners and the food is also absolutely disgusting too!! At this point you are better off going to Denny’s or Cozy diner.

Decided to order breakfast thru DoorDash once the food arrived we noticed our order was wrong. We ordered sides of home fries but got other items. The food was completely raw!! The potatoes had that starchy flavor and the gravy had that very overpowering flour taste when it is raw. The most disgusting thing about our meal were the eggs they were completely raw. Not like a sunny side up style just completely raw the egg white was clearly green and gooey. The food all together was super bland. This was our second chance trying the food and dare I say it was more disappointing the second time around.
