Great place that's new to me but been here long time apparently lol

I have been to this restaurant twice so far. Each time the food was amazing, and the owners are very friendly. They make you feel at home, and you leave with a full belly.

The food was delicious. Everything tasted wonderful.

I came to visit from California & wanted some good soul food .. That’s exactly what I got! I give them a 10 outta 10 Food was amazing & every time I visit I will be back !

I came for lunch and got the smothered pork chops, collard greens, black eyed peas, and mashed potatoes. This was good southern home cooked food. You order at the counter, everyone was friendly. There's not a lot of seating, but most people were getting takeout.

I decided to door dash and got wings greens Mac and cheese second order chitterlings yams and dressing 3rd order oxtails red beans and yams when I say it was good and it was more then enough I love every bite and would recommend this place to anyone who love soul food and a home cook meal.

The food is great. However, there are issues with ordering on doordash. It seems to be no verification system just orders being handed out . I’ve gotten 2 orders handed to the wrong person. Waited over 2 hours for an order I’ve never received and tried reordering and was told the order could not be made again. So unfair.

That pork chop was off the chain. Fish and chicken was good also. Too much ice for the small cup of drink. I waited too late to try the cornbread but it was soft.

I ordered smothered chicken, mac and cheese, cabbage, and mashed potatoes. I would ONLY recommend mashed potatoes if you are getting a smothered dish. The gravy provided lots of flavor. The smothered chicken was 10/ 10. The mac & cheese and cabbage were good. I would definitely recommend trying them out.

Great portions and great service!!! Mrs. DJ and workers are the best their hospitality is unmatched. Everyone I’ve sent has been a returning customer! The lunch specials are $10 that’s when I usually order since I work from home.

Best home cooked soul food in Ft Worth area. My husband and I made a random stop and by God we were happy that we made the stop. The smooth pork chops, collard greens, and candied yams are to die for. The T-Bone steak, cabbage and green beans were delicious. Ms DJays and David are the real deal. I love the fact, they offer unlimited sides along with there home made kool aid when you dine in. Oh don't forget the dessert, banana pudding and pecan pies were off the chain!!!!

Yoooooo, let me start by saying I placed my order on DoorDash. When I received my 3 piece wing dinner my wings were still CRUNCHY!!!! Glorayyyyy!!! My chicken wasn’t all sweated🙏🏾 and I’m grateful. Now, somebody in that kitchen Grandma taught them something because they fried my chicken with onions in the oil and baybeh that flavor is undeniably good. 10/10 I also had yams, good texture and flavor 7/10 Collard greens were edible, slightly mushy but good flavor 6.5/10 Cornbread dressing, the red bell peppers are a little overpowering BUT, the dressing also has good texture. I do wish it had gravy on it. Dressing was a 7/10

The large portion of Oxtails were meaty and delicious, greens, Mac n cheese, fried okra, were on point. The fried pork chop was tasty and crisp.The Banana pudding and pound cake was perfect from scratch desserts to top off the meal

FIIIRRREEEEE. Customer service was awesome, a gentleman greeted me at the cash register he was very informative, professional and quick. I did get a lot because it was my first time there and I wanted to try different stuff. They have specials that are 10 so I got the smothered pork chop, double rice and gravy, side salad and ranch, and 2 wings with dressing and macaroni and cheese. Lol and a strawberry cheesecake. The wings were too big for my liking but the flavor was incredible, dressing, mac and cheese, smothered pork chops and rice were all FIRRREEEEE!!!!. O and the kool-aid was FIRRREEEEE as well. Every dish was delicious and tasted like a home-cooked meal. The turkey wings were tender and flavorful, the greens were perfectly seasoned, and the mac & cheese was creamy and cheesy. The black-eyed peas were a great addition, and the cornbread was moist and just the right amount of sweet. I could tell that everything was homemade when I bit into it which earns extra points from me! The macaroni & cheese was perfectly seasoned, the yams were just the right amount of sweet, the dressing had a mix of moisture & dry spots (which I love) & the chicken was fried to perfection! The cornbread was a nice add that I didn’t know I’d be receiving & it was also delicious! I’m excited to try more from this restaurant on my next visit!

Love the food...it's all soul. This establishment is small but they cook like a big place. I'm waiting on the expansion. I always get the turkey wings and dressing. And I usually get a second plate of something for me or my son.

Was told wait ten minutes and waited about 45-50 mins. Had to go back in for a salad but everything else was great. Yams were sweeter than expected but Ill definitely be back for the meatloaf Mac and cheese and boy that coca cola cake was fire. Gonna have to try the banana pudding next. Oh and those bells can scare someone to death 😂

Instead, you have to get their signature pineapple lemonade punch. The punch was good, but I didn't want it with each meal. I was allowed to replace the punch with bottled waters. The fish and chicken were ok. The whole wings were small. I was baffled when I noticed each cornbread slice was a different size. Out of everything I ordered I highly recommend the meat loaf and burger meals. You can add cheese to your burger for an extra $1. I tried a variety of side veggies. All of them were good, but my favorites were the 3-cheese macaroni, cabbage, and cornbread dressing with cranberry sauce. For dessert, I recommend banana pudding. It tasted like my homemade one that I'm too lazy to make unless it’s during the holidays. The establishment was clean, and the environment was warm and cozy. When I'm in the area on Sunday I'll try the oxtails. Note: They're offering Holiday Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. All menus are provided in this review.

First time going today and It was extremely busy. My side of yams was not in my meal but was given extra of sides. I called and was at least offered to drive back for a cup of yams. I am 45mins away so that wouldn’t work. The food is good but just a tad bit over on salt on the beef tips. Overall I will go here again. 2 fish and 3 sides Beef tips plus 3 sides $45 total

Lots of loitering persons in the parking lot also. Atmosphere is cozy, family-owned/local-business decor. Food was delicious; generous portions with bold flavors. The only thing I had better hopes for was the customer service. No one greeted when I came in, I stood looking around at the desserts, decor for a while, making eye contact with multiple people (who I later found to be employees), no one offered assistance. I found a cart with Togo bags, one of them with my name on it so I figured it was a grab-and-good togo station, so I grabbed my bag and was immediately reprimanded by multiple employees. They requested I take and upload a photo to Door Dash to prove pick-up, but I was very confused because I didn't order through the DoorDash app. They reluctantly let me take my food after showing them how I ordered. Never a smile, never a thank you, never a "how can I help you?". I would probably order again, because the food is really good, but I didn't like the lack of customer service.

Came for lunch had smothered pork chop the pork chop was tender had mac and cheese it was good could have been a lil creamy but da flavor was der had mashed potatoes i recommend using Yukon gold potatoes or red skin potatoes if you gon leave da skin on and less water more cream and butter and salt and pepper also a lil garlic i would prefer homemade cornbread but da jiffy was good

I did DoorDash so I’m not sore about the atmosphere. I think the price is decent for the portion they give you. As for the food My smothered chicken was good and my husband smother pork chop was good. The Mac n cheese was ok. The green beans & greens were super tangy as if they used too much vinegar, my husband got the okra & tomato for a side and he said it tasted burnt.

I got a plate to go. I was a little underwhelmed at the lack of seasoning. Ive never had black eyed peas or lima beans that were dry with no liquid. 7up cake was oversoaked with a liquid & didnt taste fresh.

The prices are a standard reflection of what prices for dinner at most soul food places are. So for $17.99 the sign said you're allowed 1 meat option and 3 sides. I decided to try the 2pc fried catfish with dressing, mac n cheese and red beans. I also ordered the 3pc fried chicken wings with green beans, mac n cheese and yams. I asked about the Banana pudding because for some reason restaurants think they can make instant pudding and sell it as real banana pudding. The cashier reassured me it was home made banana pudding. Now.... The fried catfish was good. The appearance looked like how fried catfish looks from your kitchen at home. The yams were 🔥🔥🔥. The mac n cheese was funny lookin but it tasted ok. Thats all that I enjoyed. The chicken wings were huge in size but didn't taste good at all. But for me personally, chicken anywhere hasn't been tasting like chicken. Even the chicken I purchase at the grocery store and fry or bake has a funny texture and strange taste. I think 2025 will be the year I stop eating what is being called "chicken". The red beans were watered down like they had been reheated. The green beans were bland...straight from the can... No seasoning... And the dressin... I should've known better because I usually dont eat anyone's dressing except mine, and a few select relatives. This dressing was dark and dry. It had little dices of some kinda meat and I couldn't figure out what it was. It was not good at all. No onions no celery no green pepper taste in it at all. There was absolutely no effort of making this food with soul unless its a Texas thing..... Im from the North and we get down when cookin our soul food... In our homes of course. So I definitely wasted at least 3/4s of the money spent on this meal but at least I can say I tried it. If they would just put a little more love into cookin it'll definitely come out tasting that way. These two meals tasted thrown together. Definitely some items reheated. And I overheard a lady tell the cashier something was dirty. She was lifting the lids to the stainless steel containers that held the sides behind the glass by the cash register. Sorry but she said it loud enough for me to hear it so Im gonna add it to this review. Again the people that work there were very nice... The fried catfish was ok and the yams were 🔥🔥🔥🔥 but I probably wont be back. Spent about $52. Oh and the banana pudding didn't taste homemade.. it had the same texture as cool whip and the wafers were stale.

I had DJ’s last week had the catfish and it was absolutely Devine, had a vegetable plate today and they didn’t have everything I wanted, that was ok but the cabbage, collard greens, and black eyed peas were completely without flavor. The Lima beans and cornbread were super good. Not sure what happened today.

I wasn’t impressed with the food. The cornbread dressing and mac n cheese was the best thing on my plate. The greens were too vinegary. I had to request more chicken because the chicken I was given was not fresh. The chicken was good once I got fresh chicken. A lady, I’m assuming the owner or something gave me a free dessert because it was my first visit and that was also underwhelming in taste. I’m a Mississippi girl so maybe my standards are a bit high but I won’t be returning.

First time here from TikTok, it wasn’t what I was expecting. The food wasn’t bad but it’s not what they made it seem like. The food was affordable for the amount you get.

The staff was friendly and the wait wasn’t that long. The cornbread both regular and water was lacking in flavor, the cabbage just tasted like boiled cabbage, no seasoning, no flavor, meatloaf was bland the only thing I enjoyed was the Mac n cheese. I will try another dish and sides but the first time coming, I was disappointed in the food.

Just placed a DoorDash order , they ran out of meatloaf and instead of calling me or talking to the dasher to make a different plate they refunded me without saying anything. The refund was okay. But I don’t have the funds to order another plate seeing as I only have cash. The lady was rude as hell when I called. Not really how you run a business if you ask me. I work in food and anytime we run out of something I always talk to the dasher first so the customer doesn’t get upset. The food is amazing. Just feel like they could’ve said something before she just decided to refund my food. Now I have to wait 7 days for a refund I didn’t even want.

They are really nice people and I love the atmosphere but I definitely wasted $20. The meatloaf plate was horrible. The sauce was sweet, the meat was hard and clumpy I ended up throwing it away. I only ate the yams and the cornbread that was it.

We had the smothered pork chops which was great the mac and cheese was great the cabbage no seasoning and watered down the green beans to much vinegar and no seasoning red beans and sausage had no sausage the mashed potatoes was too chunky no seasoning and no butter the pecan pie was great im sorry but they are over hyped but again the smothered pork chops and Mac and cheese and pecan pie was very good

We came in today ( a Sunday) around 3:30 ish. We get there and the dinning area ( which is small) is full of people. It was their family. Kids running around everywhere. Taking up all the seats and space in the dinning room. They had no manners ( all of them; just rude and disrespectful. So the people that are paying for their food can’t sit and wait and literally standing was crazy because it was no space. They took our order and we waited about 20 minutes then they called my name. To tell me they are out of things we ordered when they should have checked before hand but they were too busy catering to the family taking up all the space. Being loud and rude… then we waited another 15 minutes for our food. But this time we were annoyed, overstimulated, and have decided to never step foot back into this place. One of the ladies ( an older women) offered us desserts for the wait, but it wasn’t enough to compensate for the god awful experience, the food isn’t all that good.

Not a fan. The food was either too salty or bland. For example, the dressing way too salty, however, the baked chicken tasted like it had no seasoning at all. The place was pretty busy, and the wait was fairly long, which led me to believe that there is a liking for this food from some folks. I'm just not one of those folks. But I will say they were really kind I can't take that from them. I may give them another shot because I know they serve turkey wings, and I'm interested in trying. Now I will say the pound cake was tasty.

On this day, Sunday, July 28, 2024 I ordered Neckbones, collard greens, blackeyed peas with okra, yams, and peach cobbler. Everything was ice cold and tasted like a couple of days ago after heating it. I’m reporting this restaurant to consumer foods. I will never eat here or order door dash from here again.

Customer service is trash And they allowed my food to be taken by someone else after I paid for it and I discovered they have had this issue several times. I NEVER got my food and there was NO accommodation to try to make it right, was told that has nothing to do with them even though the order was taken by someone else smdh!!!! I wouldn’t waste my time with D JAYS very unorganized and unprofessional! Need training on proper customer service! NEVER AGAIN!

Ordered the pork chop special with greens & macaroni and cheese. Added a side of yams and potato salad. I’m confused by the other reviews because the food is horrible except the pork chop. It was ok. The yams tasted like they were boiled in water with cinnamon and nutmeg, but no butter no sugar no vanilla flavoring. The greens taste like they were boiled in water only no seasoning whatsoever and if there was meat in there, I don’t taste it. The macaroni had overcooked noodles and taste like a bunch of cheddar cheese, which I don’t cook mine like that, but it would have been decent had the noodles, not been overcooked. potato salad tasted like nothing I’ve ever tasted before The service was meh - not bad but not good.

This is a prime example of how not everyone who can cook pretty good does not mean u can run a restaurant. Catfish was good. Mac, not bad.Steak and chops overcooked. Service and wait, terrible. There was a group for lunch and the wait for food was over an hour! When they finally got it, the food was disappointing from what they were saying! DJay's knew the group was coming and had tables set aside, but not enough. Bad day? Totally unprepared. All those people are gonna tell their friends about this experience and it will not be positive. You try to give these little pop-up businesses a chance,but this is why they open for a couple of years and close. I hope this one can do better.

I try to support black owned businesses. However, what I do not support is rude customer service. I was hung up on by the guy who answered and said they don’t have shrimp and grits today. And they only serve shrimp and grits on Friday and Sunday. Well today is Friday. I tried them once and that will be the last time. At least if you have a black owned business, deliver on the days you say you are. And learn how to have some proper customer service. Btw. I’m also black. And we can do better as a whole.
