Opinions de Raffi's Place Glendale
Five stars and honestly if I could give it more I would. We came to Raffi’s Place and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made the entire trip. Let me start with the koobideh because that’s the real test of any Persian restaurant. If you can’t get the koobideh right nothing else matters. Raffi’s gets it right. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, that char on the outside with the softness on the inside that only comes from someone who has been doing this a very long time. This wasn’t good koobideh. This was the koobideh. The one you’ll be thinking about on the plane ride home. The soltani was even better if that’s possible. That combination of koobideh and barg together on one plate with the rice and the grilled tomato, everything working together, nothing competing. Just a perfect plate of food. Simple, honest, executed at the highest level. The service matched the food which is rare. Our server was attentive without hovering. Checked on us at the right moments, gave us space when we were talking, made us feel like guests not customers. When they found out it was our anniversary there was a warmth to the whole experience that felt personal, not rehearsed. The atmosphere tied it all together. Clean, elegant, not trying to be something it’s not. Just a beautiful restaurant that knows exactly what it is and does it better than anyone else. If you’re anywhere near Glendale and you love Persian food, this is the spot. No debate.
My order: koobideh, tadig with ghormehsabzi and gheimeh. I haven’t been to another Persian restaurant that can top how Raffi’s flavors their koobideh. It’s rich in flavor and juicy. This place is typically always busy, but definitely worth the wait (I’ve never waited longer than 30 minutes). After all, there’s a reason that there is a wait! Been coming here for years!
One of the best Persian restaurants in the LA area—definitely worth the drive from West LA. The ambiance is pleasant and relaxing, even on a Saturday, and the noise level is surprisingly low. The staff were professional and attentive. The food was outstanding—delicious and full of flavor. The kabobs were especially impressive: tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked.
The food was delicious. It was slightly salty for me and it didn’t come with lemon or lime. We ordered soltani , tah dig and kask badmjanThe portion was good enough.
Kept hearing amazing things about this place so swung by for a takeout one day, the restaurant is very nice and the staff is friendly. Prices are expensive, but portions are huge, I was able to stretch my meal out to 3-4 modest portions. The meat is absolutely incredible! Everything was so well flavored, highly recommend.
That's the kind of place where you pass by and immediately realize it's delicious. Why? Because there are no free tables. 😄 The food is excellent, everything is flavorful, filling, and top-notch. The only caveat is that you can only dream of a calm, romantic, and quiet atmosphere. Large groups of people are sitting at tables all around you! But if you want a delicious meal and a real sense of excitement, this is the place for you. The lines and noise here come with excellent cuisine 😉
Visited from Toronto yesterday and came here for a meal. Growing up our family in LA used to take me here as a child, so it has a special nostalgic place in my heart. I had the privilege of bringing my wife here after 18 years of not being in LA and it did not disappoint. She said it was the best she’s ever had. The food was just as amazing as I had remembered it growing up. The best kabobs ever. The portions were huge, the taste was amazing, and the staff were great. Thank you for the great experience!
Some of my earliest and most cherished memories growing up were with family at Raffis Place. What a wonderful spot to gather with family and enjoy good food with one another. The top notch quality and service has not changed a bit for the past 20 years. The koobideh with baghali polo is my all-time favorite!
Raffi’s Place is a unique experience, combining Persian and Middle Eastern cuisine with a beautiful indoor/outdoor setting… In December of 1993, under the ownership of Rafik Bakijanian. Raffi’s Place opened as one of many small businesses surrounding a quaint courtyard. Inspired by their love of real home cooking, Rafik and his wife Gohar created a menu combining fresh ingredients and superb flavor combinations.
Best Persian food in Los Angeles by far. Their kebabs are amazing, specially the Barg is my favorite. Their service is also great considering their high demand. The wait on weekends is around 45 minutes but it’s worth every minute. Thank you for your great food and service. Highly recommended.
This restaurant is always busy, and for good reason—it’s absolutely worth the wait! The food is consistently wonderful. The staff are exceptionally polite and friendly, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is calming and enjoyable, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. A true gem that I’ll definitely keep coming back to!
I recently dined at Raffi’s Place in Glendale with a group of about 10 friends, and it was an absolute delight! The restaurant’s Mediterranean courtyard-inspired setting created a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly complemented the authentic Persian and Middle Eastern cuisine. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding, making our large group feel welcomed and well taken care of. The menu, crafted with fresh ingredients and bold flavors, lived up to its reputation as offering some of the best kabobs in town. Every dish we tried was bursting with authentic taste, showcasing the passion and care that owners Rafik and Gohar put into their food. The location, just a short walk from the Americana at Brand, adds to its charm as a Glendale gem. We left feeling completely satisfied and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend Raffi’s Place for anyone craving a memorable dining experience!
So, so good. Not a single miss here! They don't take reservations, and the waitlist can only be joined by physically going in the line and putting yourself on the list. As a heads up, the estimate they give (and the one Yelp gives) can be quite incorrect; we were told it would be 40 minutes to an hour, and it was 9 minutes. Nice surprise! But plan accordingly. The food was insanely good. The kabob, the fesenjoon, and the tomato appetizer were all fantastic, as was the lavash. Nothing to complain about, we ended up eating way too much! Would for sure come back.
Great food and service.. Atmosphere is elegant and authentic. Be ready to wait cause the word is out about this place. Delicious..

Raffi’s Place is one of the well-known and long-standing Persian restaurants in Glendale, and the space itself is impressive, large, lively, and well suited for groups and family gatherings. The service was fast and efficient, and everything was handled smoothly despite how busy the restaurant was. The food was acceptable and authentic in style, though more in line with everyday, casual Persian restaurants rather than something exceptional. It reminded me of typical bazaar-style restaurants in Tehran, familiar and satisfying, but not particularly standout in quality. Overall, it’s still a solid option for classic Persian food, especially for the atmosphere, portion sizes, and efficient service.
Given the service speed, it is advisable to request your check in advance of completing your meal. The food portions were generous, which was satisfactory for my dietary preferences as a vegan. My colleague found the fish to be excessively pungent, necessitating a replacement. This resulted in a somewhat dry beef dish, though it was still acceptable. The venue offers ample space and complimentary 90-minute public parking.
I liked the Barg Kebab; it was juicy and flavorful. I’m still not a big fan of koobideh, but to be fair, I’m generally quite picky about koobideh anywhere outside of Iran. I didn’t enjoy the Ghormeh Sabzi, but the Fesenjoon is something I would come back for.
The Gheymeh Bademjan was delicious and I had more rice than I could possibly eat. The food was good but not what I'm accustomed to for Persian food. The atmosphere felt more like an upscale cafeteria. Service was very attentive and kind.
I really liked the idea of two stew Tadig. It gives a minimalistic nostalgic experience that I really enjoyed. I liked their Kashk Bademjon but the Ash and Kabob was moderate. Saffron rice was also presented in a really high quality. Staff were super professional and the place vibe was good, although a bit noisy. The wait-line and parking was the only bummer which is OK for such a place.
I was honestly surprised by this place. The location is so remote I thought it was going to be some type of drive-through. If you’re born in the Soviet Union, you’ll understand the meaning of the word canteen (советская столовая)—those very Soviet-styled tablecloths, standard Soviet-issued tableware like it’s been washed a million times, and a sad, very sad interior. But the food was so very good! The meat was amazing, tasty, and fresh. Portions were huge, and the waiters are so very welcoming. The menu is close to Iranian cuisine, but I got some Armenian vibes as well. Also, a fun fact: their parking is cash only, which was a little confusing, so we used the other one nearby. If you’re craving hearty, authentic eats in a nostalgic, no-frills spot, this place delivers big time. Worth the drive!
Raffi’s is known for its food. This was my second time here and I was not disappointed however, the weight was a little unnerving luckily, we were able to walk around near my miles. They charge $14 for parking that you can easily also park one or two blocks away at public parking lot. The could be there and the chicken thighs were excellent as well as the appetizers and specifically the Tadig the service was relatively fast, and they were communicating that the kebabs will take a little longer due to the backlog of orders.
This place gets packed on a weekend, even after lunch. For 2, we quickly got seated outdoor. We ordered the baba ganoush, lentil soup, and the Soltani kabob with the Persian rice. The baba ganoush was on the sweeter side. Lentil soup was ok. The Soltani took a bit longer to cook. First of all, the plate is massive. I'm glad I shared it. The minced beef kabob was great. It's their signature dish and it's very flavorful. The filet mignon is quite juicy as well. The Persian rice was ok, the fruit one was too sweet. I would just come back for their kabobs. It is expensive at $40 per plate. Overall, very generous portions and good beef.
I don't need to tell you that food is great...it is great...and you pay for it great also! The best tahdig in any Persian restaurant I've gone to. People go to a fancy expensive restaurants for two reasons: Great food and Great atmosphere. Raffi covers the food, but not the atmosphere. I am not sure why there are no Persian arts and painting hanging on their walls! (Well, there is one but only one! Haha) 98% of the walls are blank! Why?! To the owner: I am 100% sure you make good money, please spend some of it for some art works and hang them on the walls!
We recently dined at Raffie’s Restaurant, and overall the experience was good, definitely above average. We ordered the Sultani kabab, chicken kabab, and fesenjoon. The portions were generous, and the food looked great. The kebabs were tasty but a bit on the salty side. The fesenjoon, while decent, didn’t quite have the traditional flavor we were expecting. The service was friendly and overall good, but not top-notch. A few simple things were forgotten, which made the experience feel slightly less polished. Overall, it’s a solid place with good food and large portions, but there’s room for improvement in both flavor consistency and service attention.
I have been a loyal customer of Rafi since 2012. The quality of the food has never changed, it remains excellent. As the restaurant has become more popular and more crowded over the years, I hope Raffi will expand the space or open new branches to accommodate the demand. Don’t miss the kashk-e bademjan as an appetizer, and definitely try the Albaloo polo, a traditional Iranian rice dish. If you enjoy flavors that are both sweet and sour, this dish will give the same taste.
wait was very long. saturday night. friendly staff. soltani was dry. koobideh very oily. nice

Food here is awsome but wait time for a table is incredibly long. They try their best to accomodate costumers in a timely fashion but expect 40 min wait time for a table every time.

Chicken was completely underwhelming, no flavor whatsoever. The hummus was good and so was the beef. However that was about it. Again the chicken only looks like it has flavor, no actual flavor, if your looking for good chicken you’re better off going to a fast food kabob spot.
I came here with very high expectations, as this place is quite well known. I would strongly recommend making a reservation in advance, especially on weekends, as the wait time can easily exceed an hour. Unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations. The kabab barg was not bad, but the taste wasn’t for me, and overall it lacked the wow factor I was hoping for. I was expecting more depth and flavor based on the restaurant’s reputation, but it didn’t quite deliver. That said, the atmosphere really stood out. It genuinely reminded me of Iran, which was nostalgic and enjoyable, and the ambiance was warm and lively. The mast mousir was excellent and easily one of the highlights of the meal. I do think the experience would be much better if the restaurant made its own bread, as the bread served felt lower quality compared to the rest of the offering. Overall, it was a nice experience for the atmosphere, but the food didn’t leave a strong impression, and it’s probably not a place I would revisit while in LA.
